That's a bit much, isn't it? Considering the fact that a worker can be signed to an exclusive contract for an amount that would still allow them to qualify for public/government assistance?

I was just trying to have a bit of fun. They are character names in a spreadsheet game. They don't really need to feed their families.

TEW has never fit reality with regard to contracts because reality doesn't always make good sense. Also, contracts are not only based on popularity though popularity has much more weight than in-ring skill. Want to see? Pick a poorly skilled unemployed worker and look at their employment tab (to see their current approximate value). Now, go into the editor and raise their skills (I used Militia Sister and raised her performance and top row skills to 91). Check that employment tab again. Her value went from $1700 a month/$170 per appearance to $2400 a month/$800 per show. Her popularity didn't change but her in-ring skills did. That's why, traditionally, a Steve Flash was so valuable (and popular among players). He wasn't expensive (because he didn't have a lot of popularity) but he was excellent in the ring. Many times, that jibes with reality. The "good hands" don't tend to draw as much money (upfront) as the 'names'.

In past years, people have suggested a mechanic that would bring a worker's personal situation into whether they'd sign with a promotion that would normally be beneath them (someone called it 'the Ric Flair rule'). That may also be factoring into things, especially for Crippler. Maybe he's turning down Small sized companies because he's too over for them.

I guess this is the problem really, that this is a game and can't possibly reflect reality. Overness is more valuable than in-ring skills, so small companies can't afford over workers even if they're past their prime. It's that simple and I can't change it. It just really bugs me that there are guys not working who I know, as a human player, can do a job. I've talked about Lobster/Crippler in this thread, and now I'm bringing him in on a 6-month PPA contract. He can teach my younger guys psychology and his overness can be leeched onto others. It's just a shame that the AI can't do a similar thing and offer him a short-term contract.

I love this game so much when I'm booking my own shows, recruiting and developing workers, playing with storylines and gimmicks, etc. However, I get frustrated when I look at the rest of the game world and see companies going bust because they run in venues that are too small for the crowds they should get, guys like Lobster being left on the shelf for good, TCW losing all their top workers because they won't pay them $2000 more per month to at least match USPW's offer, USPW having the best workers available in North America and still dropping to Cult because their shows are crap and Steve Frehley v Rocky Golden is rating a 78 in a PPV main event. These things frustrate me and pull me out of the game.

I think it should be noted that these decline workers who are extremely over would "pop" a house for an indy promotion. I'm wondering if its possible to reflect a big name signing on a one-night only deal having a bigger investment/financial reward for a promotion (especially in a good economy and a booming industry). What if including Lobster Warrior or Tyson Baine on a card could increase attendance and overness gains for the whole card for that one night? It might make it more attractive to smaller promotions to book these guys on a special occasions and...pop the house.

Given the new National Battle 'draw' system for workers is implemented, I am surprised that the draw of superstars does not somewhat play a part in attendance numbers anyway.

Eddie's appearance in that British event really did draw a lot more people to that event in comparison to other UK wrestling events at the time (which was also more advertised admittedly, but it was advertised with Eddie knowing he would be a draw as he was a well known WWE star).

For a one night deal, it cost the show a lot of money, but drew lots of fans to cover that cost so it wasn't as a colossal money hit as it could have been.

They'll scoop up many of the available workers in that game area within their first month of existence. If you really want to make the world active, add a few more and turn Restricted Areas to Off. Now you'll see the game world evolve a bit closer to how it would in reality. In reality, a US based worker who is unemployed would probably not turn down (or not even entertain the idea) an invitation to work in say, the UK or Europe or good God, Japan or Mexico! "I can't work for you because I only work in the US" would be replaced by "Let me see how fast I can get a work visa".

Maybe a Cult company actually. It seems like that may be a problem in the US: the gap between the big 3 and everyone else. There really is no company between say TCW and CZCW that could snatch up those available workers. I'll do this. And I'll play about with the companies' hiring rules and stuff too. Thanks.

You'd have to give them a lot more money (especially if they'd be signing people to written deals) and it might take 2-3 months before the promotion "finds its feet", so to speak. Regional is a lot more forgiving overall. That's not even factoring in expenses like the various Production things and the larger roster requirement. You could very well be putting them directly in the crosshairs of the big promotions, when they don't even have their (stuff) together yet. At regional, they can sign some bigger names but have the bulk of the roster be young up and comers who can develop into Cult level performers. C-Verse women don't (and will never, outside of editing) have the kind of star quality needed to actually win a battle. The number of women with 'excellent' star quality (88+) in the C-Verse? Four (two each based Japan & the US). The number of men? 66 (plus three random gens in my current game, so 69). That's not a complaint, it just poses a challenge to be tackled. So I LIKE it when SWF, TCW, and USPW punch each other's daylights out and steal each others' workers. Heck, if not for the shortlist notification bug, I'd have J.Ro on my roster. But I have to work around that. I have to get Alina America and Fuyuko Higa from midcarder to main eventer WITHOUT Jesus pushing. Good Lord, I don't even want to know what a Jesus pushed Higa is like!

Ah ok thanks.

Quick aside I did that with Primus Allen in tew2013. Big win streak bla bla, never doing that again. I booked myself into a corner where he had to beat guys who didn't want to lose to him so I couldn't put him in the main event on tv until I ended that streak.

honestly these issues have been around since the beginning and i find it unlikely for it them to be fixed. it's a shame with all these "upgrades", you'd think some of the longer lasting issues have been shored up a little

It does. Well, not ALL of your superstars, but your figurehead appearing/not appearing on a show severely impacts your attendance.

I mean those top five in general. Yes, the figurehead does give a boost, but if a Even a mid carder like Shaemus appeared in a small Uk company here on a one night contract (assuming with some advertisement) it would sell a lot more seats then just the local uk talent

In addition to all the other ideas mentioned already, you could also set one of these new regional companies hiring rules such as 'hire unemployed workers only', though that won't guarantee that they will hire workers on time decline, but it still forces their hand. Manipulating their owner/booker preferences may also help as well.

Isn't that how it works though in game? If you make Sheamus your figurehead for that one night he'll give you a boost. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Not possible. You can't just make a person a figurehead for one night. Figureheads have a one year waiting period before they begin to produce benefits. So no, he wouldn't provide a boost.

I added two Regional companies and simmed through two years. All it meant was more work for guys like Cali Slick, Al Coleman, Sayeed Ali, Phunk, Fro Sure, Syd Collier, Ernest Youngman and the usual busy indy guys. Plus jobs for workers who start unemployed like El Mitico, Rayne Man, Molokai Milk, Chess Maniac, Silencer and so on.

By January 2018 in the sim, Lobster Warrior is once again sitting on the shelf, along with Frederique Garcia, American Buffalo, Mick Muscles, Joe Sexy, Marat Khoklov, Chris Caulfield and more. It seems like the game is simply not programmed to pick up workers in time decline, even those at the very beginning of decline who still have several useful years left. It's a crying shame, but I'm learning to live with it.

You can't just have 2 more regional companies. You need to set their parameters. The key thing to set is hiring rules. Try these ones.

Company 1:

No Workers Under 35

Company 2: No workers Over 35

Company 3:

Only hire unemployed workers

Company 4:

Minimum Psychology Grade D (therefor only older workers are going to be eligible)

No Foreign workers or something like that

Basically make companies that are specific to certain types of workers.

That, with the hiring rules, will see the people you think should be employed, get signed. Heck, put one in Texas and give it an old Southern brawling style product and you could resurrect the careers of several workers you didn't even intend to (Danny Rushmore, for example). Otherwise, you leave it to whoever winds up becoming owner and booker to decide, based on their biases.

Wrestlers should have bank accounts, and a new personality trait to determine how good they are with money.

A worker like Goldberg who makes his millions in a few years, saves them, and has low drive for the business anyway, could very well just retire young when he has his money.

Whereas a Jake the Snake Roberts blows all of his money on whiskey drugs all the time, so he constantly needs the work, and is more willing to work for smaller companies, etc.

Not sure if the patches have changed it. I have seen old stars being rehired more frequently. However, there's a problem - There are too many late 40s,50s hogging the main event scenes that the regen/younger workers have no chance of getting over. Most famous popular wrestlers are all 45+ year-old and the top companies keep rehiring them instead of hiring younger workers. Here's what happens in my watcher save in 2038. Most of the top workers are 45+:
