Impact Wrestling have today issued an Official Press Release announcing their “partnership” with an Irish based conglomerate known as the “L.S Murphy Group”. While they have only been in operation since early 2016, it is believed that the company - who have recently began to produce Sports Television shows in the UK and Ireland - have a number of wealthy backers, most of whom have a background in the media. Paul Clough, a spokesperson for the group, gave comment to ImpactWrestling.com stating their “pride” and “excitement” to be working with the company. He also praised the company’s loyal support - particularly in the United Kingdom and Ireland - and promised that their number one priority would be to ensure that the interests of the fans came first. The statement also confirmed that Dixie Carter would remain company's “President”, however sources close to the deal believe she will serve in a ceremonial role, with the day to day running of the company being handed over to “L.S Murphy” as part of the deal.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Having spent almost a year looking for an investor, it is believed that Dixie Carter had very little to do with the two parties coming together. Instead, a relatively new member of the Impact Wrestling writing team, Joseph O’Brien, is said to have been key to the deal being concluded. Joining Impact Wrestling for their Pop TV debut, the UK based writer is said to have a withstanding relationship with several members of the “L.S Murphy Group”, having previously worked with them on various UK Television shows. While the upstart company has no track record, and very few credits to their name, it is believed that they feel Impact Wrestling - and in particular its visibility in the UK - could be a key factor in their success and potential growth. While they are expected to invest heavily in the promotion, L.S Murphy are reportedly committed to making their move into Professional Wrestling a profitable venture. One source called the deal a “huge risk”, stating that the future of both parties relies on the success of the partnership.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As of January 1st 2017, it is believed that L.S Murphy has cleared Impact Wrestling’s debt, with a minimal fee being paid for the company itself. They have also made extending the “Maximum Impact” UK Tour a priority, with extra dates to be added if possible. Additionally, there is the task of putting together a “Live” Impact Wrestling Special in just three days time. The Live Special will mark Impact Wrestling's permanent move to Wednesday nights on Pop and take place 7 years to the day after Hulk Hogan joined the company. Despite the short notice, sources within Impact Wrestling believe a number of enquiries had been sent out to unsigned talents prior to the completion of the deal, such was the confidence that an agreement was close. It is believed that The Nasty Boys did not receive a call.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

In addition to on-screen changes, the L.S Murphy group will also oversee something of an overhaul with regards to creative, with the previously mentioned Joseph O’Brien taking a much more prominent role. With Impact Wrestling often being accused of having “too many cooks”, a situation which has led to a number of clashes involving O’Brien himself, L.S Murphy will now look to have one final decision maker, who has ultimate power in regards to what makes it to air and who reports back to them regarding all Wrestling related matters. Joseph O’Brien - who has been accused by his colleagues of being “stubborn” and “difficult to work with” - has suggested that Impact Wrestling work with a much smaller writing team, perhaps spelling the end of those whom he has had disagreements with since his arrival. It is currently unknown if the previous writing staff will remain in the company, but should they be retained, they would have to accept a much less influential role and report to O’Brien in the process. According to sources, Joseph’s “promotion” will almost certainly spell the end for one of the company’s senior “creative” members, with others reportedly deeply unhappy with the new owners’ decision.</div></div></div></div>

Happy to see this continuing on here. Interested to see how Edwards title reign goes. It feels like you have already made plenty of the creative changes for the best, or at least started to (less of a reliance on ex-wwe, rebuilding of the x-division etc) So will look forward to seeing what affect O-Brien will have.

Impact Wrestling on Pop! Episode #049 [Preview]

Thanks for the early interest. Got the mod updated (I hope), so the first show will be ready soon.

Impact on Pop! Episode #49: A New Dawn... [Live Impact Wrestling Special!]

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/Impact16/Impact%20Wrestling_zpss7w1zj1h.png

Impact on Pop proudly welcomes in 2017 with a huge “Live Special”, marking the shows permanent move to Wednesday nights! On what promises to be a huge night in Impact Wrestling history, the World Heavyweight Championship and the Knockouts Championship will both be defended, Live on Pop!

In the Main Event, Eddie Edwards, who last week “survived” the challenge of Drew Galloway thanks to Trevor Lee and BEEF, will once again defend the World Heavyweight Championship. His challenger this week will be his former tag team partner, turned bitter rival, Davey Richards. In their two previous singles matches, Davey Richards came out on top, defeating his former best friend on both occasions. However when it mattered most - with the Championship on the line at Bound For Glory - Eddie Edwards managed to score a decisive fall over Davey Richards. Having overcome the challenge of Sami Callihan, Davey Richards can now set his sights on Eddie Edwards and achieving his dream of becoming the World Heavyweight Champion. But as he well knows, his opponent is one of the best wrestlers on the planet, and one who
always
has a “plan”. Will Davey Richards have Eddie’s number once more, or will the World Heavyweight Champion - as he so often does - find a way to pull out a victory? While revenge will be on the mind of “The Lone Wolf”, his number one priority will undoubtedly be winning the match and becoming the
new
World Heavyweight Champion!

In addition to that huge Main Event, Impact Wrestling management have also announced an appearance from an “Impact Wrestling Legend”, who will make their return as the show goes on air at 9/8c! Promising a blockbuster show from start to finish, you will not want to miss a second of Impact Wrestling’s “New Dawn”!

Speaking of legendary figures, 2016 “Hall of Fame” inductee Gail Kim will wrestle her last
ever
match in Impact Wrestling this week, defending her Knockouts Championship against Jade. Announcing her retirement following the Bound For Glory pay-per-view, Gail Kim marked 2016 as her final year in the business. Wanting to go out as a Champion, the iconic Knockouts was convinced to wrestle one final match on this Live Special of Impact Wrestling. The record equaling six time Knockouts Champion will defend her title against a rising star of the division, Jade, but will hope to end her Impact career with the Championship that she helped put on the map.

Also on Impact Wrestling
  • Drew Galloway is scheduled to address the controversy at the end of last week’s episode, during which BEEF and Trevor Lee became involved in his World Heavyweight Championship match. Having wasted his rematch, Drew Galloway will call out the two men responsible for the his defeat!

  • The “Rockstar Spud Challenge” returns, as the X Division Champion continues his search for a Number One Contender. This week, the challenge has been opened up to any member of the Impact Wrestling roster and Spud will have no idea who his opponent is, until they come through the curtain.

  • Following up on his impressive victory over Bram, Johnny Curtis will return to action, against the only man more self absorbed than he is, Pepper Parks.

Impact Wrestling on Pop! Episode #049

Opening Impact Wrestling in 2017, we see Jeremy Borash stood in the ring. He has a microphone, and as the camera pans back, we see that he is in a four sided ring, with the six sided design having been once again scrapped. Compared to recent Impact Wrestling episodes, the lighting on the ring is much brighter.

Jeremy Borash introduces the audience to a “Live Impact Wrestling Special”. As they look to 2017, they have a huge night planned ahead! Jeremy Borash says that there is an energy in this building tonight and everybody involved in Impact Wrestling is ready to make this year their best yet! Borash adds that if the Locker Room is anything to go by, then he knows that they are ready to put on a special show tonight… and that Locker Room includes one or two faces that we haven’t seen in Impact Wrestling before! Of course in looking to the future, Impact Wrestling has to look to it’s past and those two helped this company become what it is today. Therefore, it is his honour to welcome back an Impact Wrestling Hall of Famer! As Borash leaves the ring, a very familiar song begins to play and an even more familiar face appears on the entrance way…

Making his first appearance since his involvement in the 2016 Maximum Impact UK Tour, 11 months ago, Kurt Angle is back in Impact Wrestling! Dressed in a suit, Kurt Angle has a smile from ear to ear as he takes in the reception of the Live Impact Wrestling audience. Kurt makes his way all around the ringside area, shaking hands with everybody in the front row. He then enters the ring, taking a microphone with him.

Once again taking in the audience’s reception, Kurt Angle stands in the middle of the ring. He is still all smiles as he puts the microphone to his mouth. Angle talks about how great is it to be back in Impact Wrestling. Last year, he took a break from the company and in that time, a hell of a lot has changed! One thing that hasn’t changed is the awesome fans who have followed this company through thick and thin! Kurt Angle says that they have his word, the good times are back and they’re back for good. He promises that these people are going to have a lot to cheer about, because the guys and girls in that Locker Room are ready to take Impact Wrestling to the next level. That is exactly why - when he got the call to return to Impact Wrestling in 2017 - he jumped at the chance to make his comeback right here in the Hammerstein Ballroom!

Kurt says that while he won’t be lacing up his boots again, he does hope that he can help mould and shape the future landscape of Impact Wrestling. He intends to do this by passing on his knowledge to the guys in the back, who he knows are well on their way to the top! Kurt hopes that his fresh perspective, having watched the growth of these guys and girls, could provide that extra spark to help this company fulfil the potential that it has promised for years. For too long, there’s been “too many cooks” in Impact Wrestling, but from this moment there is just one direction and it is all about putting the “Fans First”.

Kurt Angle says that you just have to take one look in that Locker Room, and you’ll see guys like Drew Galloway… Davey Richards… Ethan Carter… Michael Bennett… all ready to lead this company into the future. Angle adds that - as much as he hates to say it - there is one man who has impressed him more than anybody in his 10 months away from Impact Wrestling… that man is the World Heavyweight Champion, Eddie Edwards! Whether anybody agree with his methods, nobody can deny that Eddie Edwards has forced his way to the top of Impact Wrestling, and for that he deserves credit. But here is where it gets difficult for the Champ, because like Jeremy Borash said, he’s seen a couple of guys in the back and he wouldn’t be surprised if they introduce themselves to the Impact Wrestling audience tonight! Before Angle continues, the music of the World Heavyweight Champion begins to play. Eddie Edwards makes his way down to the ring.

As Eddie Edwards walks down the ramp, he tells Kurt Angle to hold it right there. Before Kurt continues to verbally fellate these people, he wants to pull him up on something. He then repeats Kurt’s statement that “he hates to say” how great Eddie Edwards has been. Eddie says that within five minutes of his return, Angle has summed up everything that is wrong with this company. From the fans, to the people in the back, the fact that they are reluctant to state objective
truths
about Eddie Edwards just shows how underrated, and underappreciated, he is as their World Heavyweight Champion. Just like these idiots in the audience, it pains Kurt Angle to admit to himself that Eddie Edwards is the single greatest wrestling on planet Earth today! And
today
is what matters, the present is what matters to Eddie Edwards and the present is what has passed Kurt Angle by. Make no mistake, Kurt Angle
is
an American Hero, he
is
a legend and he did inspire the wrestlers of Edwards’ generation. For that Eddie says “thank you”. But in 2017, the abiding memory of Kurt Angle, in the minds of everybody involved in this business, will be of last year and how in this very ring, he served as the catalyst for the meteoric rise of Eddie Edwards… and in case Kurt Angle hasn’t been watching, he is “Kind of a Big Deal” now.

Kurt Angle says he’s well aware of how much of a “big deal” Eddie Edwards is, he carries the World Heavyweight Championship to prove it! But Kurt Angle held that Championship six times - more than any other competitor in Impact Wrestling history - so he knows exactly what it took for Eddie Edwards to be standing in front of him as World Heavyweight Champion. For that, he has Kurt Angle’s respect. Kurt adds that maybe Eddie is right, he
could
go down as one of the great Champions, from any company, in history of the business. Nobody is denying his talent, but Kurt thinks that Eddie Edwards’ attitude stinks!

Eddie Edwards retorts, saying that his “attitude” is what has gotten him where he is today. It is that “cutting edge” which set him apart from the rest of the Impact Wrestling roster. There is nobody in the world who can do what Eddie Edwards can do, and in case those Champions in other company’s “forgot” to send in their application, his challenge to
any
major Champion, from
any
promotion in the world is still open! He is
still
waiting for just one of them to prove him wrong... Kurt Angle tells Eddie Edwards to hold on, he doesn’t need to look around the world for a new challenger, because there are plenty of guys in that Locker Room back there who are ready to test his limits. Before Eddie should be looking to other Champions, maybe he should focus on his match tonight - where he’ll defend the World Heavyweight Championship! Eddie Edwards looks confused, but quickly explains that Kurt Angle must be mistaken. His Championship defence against Drew Galloway was
last
week. Eddie says that tonight, he has the night off. How does he know? Because this show belongs to him!

Kurt Angle says that it’s Eddie Edwards who is mistaken, and his mistake could cost him big time. Because while Eddie has been too busy reveling in his victory all week, he must have forgotten to check his social media. If he had, he’d know that tonight… in the Main Event… he
will
defend the World Heavyweight Championship, and he will go one on one… with Davey Richards!

Eddie Edwards immediately begins to shake his head, in complete disbelief at what he is hearing. Eddie tells Kurt Angle that they can’t do this to him, this is his show! Edwards says there is no way that this match can happen, but Kurt Angle simply smiles at the Champion telling him, “oh it’s real… it’s damn real!” Kurt Angle then leaves up the ramp, as we go into the commercial break. In the ring, Eddie Edwards continues to protest the decision.

<hr>Returning from the break, the X Division Champion is stood in the ring. Rockstar Spud has a microphone in his hand, he is scheduled to compete tonight.

Having been sidetracked in recent weeks, Rockstar Spud is proud to announce the continuation of the “Rockstar Spud Challenge”. For the uninitiated he explains that “The Challenge” is open to anybody on the Impact Wrestling roster, and if they beat the X Division Champion, then they automatically qualify to become the Number One Contender to Rockstar Spud’s Championship…

Last week, Rockstar Spud defended his Championship against Jessie Godderz and came out on top, tonight he has no idea who will be taking the Challenge. Rockstar Spud tells whoever in the back that wants to take the opportunity, the “Rockstar Spud Challenge” starts right now...

To the surprise of the X Division Champion, Impact Wrestling newcomer Sami Callihan accepted the challenge. Having been beaten via referee stoppage by Davey Richards last week, Sami Callihan will look to get back on track by earning a shot at the X Division Championship. Starting the match well, the vicious and ruthless style of Sami Callihan overbeared the Champion in the early stages of the contest. With no intention of backing down, Sami Callihan remained in control and brutally wore Spud doing throughout the match. Try as he might, Rockstar Spud couldn’t shake Callihan off and despite a valiant comeback attempt Sami managed to remain in the match. As Spud began to struggle, Sami Callihan zoned in on him, weakening Spud’s ribs in order to set up the finish.

When Spud desperately went for an Underdog, Callihan managed to reverse the move, putting Rockstar Spud on his shoulder. Callihan then hit the Double Knee Gutbuster to Rockstar Spud, covering him for the 1… 2… 3!

Winner:
Sami Callihan (in 6:14)

In the backstage area we see Kurt Angle stood by a monitor. He appears to be impressed with the performance of Sami Callihan. As he watches the screen, Trevor Lee approaches behind him. With Andrew Everett currently out injured, Trevor Lee is holding both World Tag Team Championships.

Trevor Lee says “that guy's really good”, but if Kurt’s impressed by Callihan, then Trevor Lee is going to blow his mind! Kurt Angle says he know Trevor Lee, and he’s more than familiar with his work… Lee says that’s all well and good, but since Kurt left Impact Wrestling, Lee has taken it to the next level. There has been a “New Wave” in Impact Wrestling and it’s being led by the World Tag Team Champions. Kurt Angle says it’s interesting he brings those Championships up. Because as far as he can tell, there’s two titles, but there is only one Champion. He adds that those titles haven’t been defended in a while. Lee tells Angle to ask Matt Hardy, he’s the one who took Andrew Everett out. Kurt understands, but says they can’t have one guy walking around as the Tag Team Champions, he’s seen it before and it
never
ends well. Angle tells Lee that they are raising the bar in Impact Wrestling this year, and this is definitely something he will have to speak with Impact Wrestling management about.

<hr>We now cut to the interview area, where Jade is stood by. Tonight, in Gail Kim’s final in-ring appear for Impact Wrestling, Jade will challenge for her Knockouts Championship.

Jade says what a great honour it is for her to face the greatest Knockout in Impact Wrestling history, in her final match in the company. Jade says that Gail Kim is one of her biggest influences, and every Knockout in this company owes the success of this division to the work that Gail has put in for over a decade. Jade tells Gail Kim she respects her so much, but tonight her focus must be on winning the Knockouts Championship for the first time. As Jade goes to leave, she is confronted by Marti Belle.

Marti Belle says that Jade shouldn’t be worrying about Gail tonight, she should be worried about her! Marti then lunges at Jade, with a brawl breaking out between the two. Jade manages to fight Marti Belle off, before the pair are pulled apart by nearby staff members.

In what turned out to be an extremely short match, there was zero contact between the two competitors. Pepper Parks began to mock Johnny Curtis, but the “Real Man” took it in his stride, coming back with his usual bizarre gyrations. This obviously infuriated Bram, who came out to the ring to attack Curtis.

Bram laid boots into Johnny Curtis, leaving the referee no choice but to call for the bell. As soon as Bram had entered the ring, Pepper Parks fled.

Winner:
Johnny Curtis (in 0:45)

However, the ringing of the bell didn’t stop Bram and he continued to lay into Johnny Curtis, putting his boot across his throat in the corner of the ring. Bram then went to the outside and took the Steel Chain that he leaves under the ring. Bram waited for Johnny Curtis to surface, hitting him in the head with the Chain wrapped around his hand. With Curtis laid out, Bram left up the ramp.

As Bram reached the top of the entranceway, he looked back to see Johnny Curtis down on the mat. Despite looking out cold and laid flat out on his back, Curtis defiantly (if the motion could ever be described as such) gyrated his hips on the mat, showing Bram that he may have taken him down, but he hadn’t broken his spirit. In turn, Bram returned to the ring, once again laying his Steel wrapped wrist into the Skull of Johnny Curtis. Bram then dragged him to his feet, hitting him with a Brighter Side of Suffering in the ring. As Bram left this time, there was no such antic from Curtis, having been fully laid out this time.

Sending over to footage from “Earlier Today”, the Impact Wrestling cameras caught up with Davey Richards as he entered the building. Tonight he will receive a World Heavyweight Championship match against Eddie Edwards.

Davey Richards says that tonight is the night he’s been waiting for. A new year and a
Live
broadcast on Pop TV. Richards says that he’s been sidetracked for a couple of months with Sami Callihan, but last week he beat him. Tonight, he’s got some business from before Bound For Glory to deal with. In the Main Event, he will go one on one with Eddie Edwards. They’ve fought twice before in Impact Wrestling and Davey Richards beat him both times. However, when it mattered - in the Main Event of Bound For Glory - it was Eddie who scored the decisive fall on him. “The Wolves” once hunted together, brothers brought together by the shared determination to be the best. Now, Davey Richards is “The Lone Wolf”, and he hunts… solo! Tonight, Eddie Edwards is his chosen prey, and he’s coming for the World Heavyweight Championship!

<hr>Back to the ring, following a Commercial Break, Drew Galloway makes his entrance. Following Trevor Lee and BEEF’s involvement in his Championship match last week, he is clearly still in a terrible mood.

Drew Galloway says that last week, he finally got his World Heavyweight Championship rematch. And would you believe it, Eddie Edwards once again pulled some complete BS out of the bag to ensure he retained the World Heavyweight Championship. Knowing what that Championship means, in a warped way he kind of understand why Eddie did what he did. But BEEF and Trevor Lee, they just proved them selves as a couple sycophants, who will do anything just to get themselves noticed. Well Drew Galloway has noticed them, and he’s tired of their crap. He’s sick of it all, the World Heavyweight Championship should be held by the best wrestler in the world, not the guy who has the most buddies. And if it’s not Eddie Edwards, it’s Ethan Carter pulling the same stunt. He’s tired of it, and so are all the fans. He wants Trevor Lee and BEEF out here right now, so he can teach them a lesson in respect! Instead of BEEF and Lee, he is answered by Scotty Slade and Mark Shurman, collectively known as “Landslide”.

Scotty Slade has a microphone and he tells Galloway that they might be new around here, but they sure as hell have a lot to teach him. He says that if Drew does this for the fans, then he’s a fool. Slade says that the people are fickle and the only reason they respond to Drew is because he’s as bitter as they are. He adds that once these people realise that Drew is on the downslope, they’ll soon be onto their next flavour of the month. Slade says that the process will be accelerated tonight, when Mark Shurman takes Galloway down.

Mark Shurman turns to Slade, surprised. He points at himself, obviously unaware that Scotty has going to make the challenge. Shurman hesitates, so Galloway jumps in. He says that if he’d honest, he’d rather fight the organ grinder than the monkey. Neither member of Landslide understands. Drew adds that he means Slade, causing the smaller competitor to try and walk away. Shurman grabs him and directs him back to the ring.

Shortly following the opening bell, the match became more or less a handicap match. It was soon clear that Slade stood absolutely zero chance and Mark Shurman’s help didn’t make too much of a difference. While it may have prolonged the match somewhat, there was never any doubt regarding who would walk out victorious. Having successfully taken Mark out of the equation, Drew hit Scotty Slade with a Discus Lariat, before covering him for the victory.

Winner:
Drew Galloway (in 3:58)

After the match, as Drew Galloway leaves up the ramp, Landslide begin to argue. Scotty says something to Mark, who asks for a microphone. Mark tells Scotty if he’s got something to say, he should say it to everybody. Scotty Slade then begins to criticise Mark Shurman, saying that he’s nothing but a big lump of crap. Shurman takes a microphone and calls Slade an undersized little oddball. The two continue to bicker in the ring, picking up on the slightest things in an increasingly tedious display of bickering. Not only are the pair very annoying, they also begin to bore the audience, who clearly have no interest in what they have to say. As the pair continue to snipe at each other, the lights dim. This stopped the argument, saving the audience from any more of their inanities. There is a short confusion, before the large screen reveals who is behind the interruption.

From either side of the crowd, two men jump the guardrail and enter the ring. Jeremy Borash immediately recognises them as “Harry Smith” and “Lance Hoyt”.

They enter the ring and destroy “Landslide”, whose attempts to fight back fail. Isolating Scotty Slade, the pair threw Mark Shurman out of the ring and hit the smaller competitor with a “Killer Bomb”, a combination of Sitout Full Nelson Slam from Lance, and a Sitout Powerbomb from Smith. Mark Shurman then entered the ring, looking to help his partner, but was taken down by a Big Boot from Lancy Hoyt. As Shurman made it back to his feet, Harry lifted him onto his shoulder, hitting a Running Powerslam. It was at this point that the first (of presumably many) reference was made to Harry being the son of the “late, great” Davey Boy Smith. As Shurman rolled out of the ring, The Killer Elite Squad stood tall in the ring, with Harry Smith spitting out his gumshield and Lance Hoyt menacingly pulling on his beard! Jeremy Borash exclaimed that “The Killer Elite Squad, have arrived… in Impact Wrestling!”

The second hour of Impact Wrestling opens with a video package, recapping some of Gail Kim’s most memorable moments over the last decade. Her fellow Knockouts, such as Madison Rayne and Alisha speak about the effect that Gail has had on them, and women’s wrestling in Impact Wrestling. Tonight she will wrestle her last ever match in Impact Wrestling!

<hr>In the interview area, we see Gail Kim stood by. The Knockouts Champion is asked for her feelings ahead of her final match in Impact Wrestling.

Gail says that all kind of emotions have been running through her mind all day, but right now she is focussed. Because Gail owes it to the fans, the Knockouts and to her opponent Jade, to have a final match which will be remembered for years to come. Gail says that she’s given everything to this company and in return she has become a Champion, but more importantly earned the respect of her peers and of the audience. Tonight, she intends to cement her legacy as the greatest Knockout of all time, by retiring as
still
the Knockouts Champion!

Going into Gail’s final match, emotions were running high. As the bell rang, Jade offered a hand to Gail Kim, which she accepted. The two women then locked up, with Gail Kim getting the best of the opening exchange. They then began to go back and forth, each having scouted their opponent well. Picking up the intensity Jade appeared to be gaining control of the contest, but Gail was able to match her opponent and the two continued to have a fairly even contest. Eventually it was Jade who took control, when Kim went to the top rope. Gail was stopped in her tracks and eventually Jade hit her with a Superplex. Jade pinned Gail for the 1… 2… Kickout!

Following the move, Jade was the first to her feet and began to dominate proceedings. She overpowered Gail Kim and refused to allow her any chance of a comeback in the match. This led to more near falls for the former Dollhouse member. Jade continued to control the match, forcing Gail to big deep. Once again proving a turning point, it was when Jade took Gail up to the top turnbuckle that the tide began to change. This time, Gail fought out of the attempted Superplex, sending Jade to the mat below. As Jade made it back to her feet, Gail came off the top rope with a Crossbody, gaining a two count over Jade. From here, the two were fairly even, and Jade felt her grip on the match slipping. Gail mounted an impressive comeback, rounding it off with a Spear that gained a two.

Gail could now taste victory, and she began to build momentum which led to an attempted Eat Defeat. Jade avoided the move, only to be hit with it as she went for a Clothesline. Gail pinned Jade for the 1… 2… Kickout! Gail couldn’t believe that Jade had kicked out of the Eat Defeat and neither could the commentators. Jeremy Borash said that he had
never
seen anybody kick out of the Eat Defeat! As the match continued, both were clearly feeling the effects of a gruelling contest. This meant that whenever a “big” move was hit, a pinfall followed which came close to ending the match. The decisive moment came as Gail went for a Hurricanrana, but Jade managed to reverse it, she then dropped Gail for the Sitout Powerbomb that earned her this shot. She pinned Gail for the 1… 2... Kickout. Refusing to dwell on her biggest move being incapable of ending the match, Jade rolled Gail through and set her up for the Package Piledriver. Dropping Gail on her head, Jade pinned the Champion to become the new Knockouts Champion!

Winner:
Jade (in 9:30;
NEW Knockouts Champion
)

After the match, Jade was handed the Knockouts Championship by the referee. As Gail came round, the reality of the situation sunk in for her and she became aware that she had wrestled her last match. Becoming the Champion for the first time, Jade’s focus was to support Gail and the pair embraced in the ring. Jade then left Gail Kim to take in the reception, but the former Champion told her to stay, raising her hand in the ring before Jade left up the ramp. Jeremy Borash paid tribute to Gail Kim, calling her the greatest Knockout in the history of Impact Wrestling!

A hyped graphic promotes next week’s episode of Impact Wrestling. As well as the End of Year awards ceremony, Impact Wrestling will also welcome Jeff Hardy back from injury!

<hr>In the backstage area, the Impact Wrestling cameras have caught up with Gail Kim following her emotional final match in the company. Gail is asked her thoughts following her retirement.

Gail Kim says that tonight her focus was on victory, but she’s happy with how the match went. Gail Kim says that she knows her legacy will live on through Jade, and she couldn’t have hoped for a better final match. Gail says that tonight is going to be bittersweet, but she is proud of her impact on the company over the last decade. As she continues, Kurt Angle walks into the shot.

Kurt says he is sorry to interrupt the interview, but he need to speak with Gail for a minute with Gail. Kurt then leads Gail into his office, shutting the door behind him.

A video package gives us a recap of the rivalry between Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards. It shows the first time they went one on one, with Davey Richards coming out victorious following a roll-up. Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards would then each go on to win the X Division Championship, which led to their second meeting. Despite his successes throughout the year, Eddie Edwards once again came up short, as Davey Richards retained his Championship by making his opponent submit to the Ankle Lock.

The rivalry really heated up in late September, when during a Championship defence, Davey Richards was taken out by Eddie Edwards, who hit him with the Championship, costing him his title. The pair would next square off in the Main Event of Bound For Glory, in a match also featuring Drew Galloway and Ethan Carter. Eddie scored the pinfall over Davey Richards, “stealing” the victory from Drew Galloway and becoming the new World Heavyweight Champion! Having lost to Davey twice before, Eddie was able to pull out of the victory when it mattered most. While Davey Richards has spent the last two months sidetracked by Sami Callihan, he will tonight get a chance at revenge on Eddie Edwards and, more importantly, the opportunity to become the World Heavyweight Champion!

Following the “big match introductions” the commentary team began to talk about the history between these two men. Having spent years together, on the road and in the ring, their partnership came to an end after a betrayal from Eddie Edwards. Becoming the World Heavyweight Champion, at the expense of Davey Richards, has only added fuel to the fire of this deeply personal rivalry. Tonight however, the focus is on competition and the biggest prize in Impact Wrestling, the World Heavyweight Championship!

For this reason, the match wasn’t an all out brawl, instead both competitors took a tactical approach to the match, realising that one error could spell the end early on. As a result the pair locked up and went back and forth in the early goings, both searching for the weakness in their opponent to exploit. Of course, with knowing each other so well, this would be no easy feat and it was a while before either competitor began to build any kind of momentum. When a breakthrough did come, it was in the favour of the challenger, as he ducked a Superkick and returned with a Roundhouse Kick to the Champion. From here, Davey Richards was able to take charge of the match and he clearly had Eddie Edwards worried. The Champion scrambled out of the ring and onto the apron, but Richards hit him with a Dropkick which sent him into the Guardrail. As Eddie got up, Davey ran at him with an attempted Suicide Dive. At the last moment, Edwards was able to catch Davey and guide him into the Guardrail. This caused a brutal collision and the commentators said that if Eddie could make it back to the ring, this one could be over. Eddie entered the ring and as the referee reached the end of his count, he was happy to take the countout. Arriving back in the ring after the 9 count, Davey Richards had other ideas.

Despite remaining in the contest, Davey Richards was now up against it, with the intelligent Eddie Edwards taking control. He refused to allow Richards even a second of respite, dominating the situation from the moment he re-entered the ring. Targeting the back of Davey Richards, which had made contact with the Guardrail earlier, Edwards began to lay knees in his back. Jeremy Borash reminded us of the recent injury that Richards sustained from Sami Callihan’s attacks, which affected the same area of Richards’ body. Dinero said that there was no doubt that Edwards is well aware of that fact, explaining his focus on that area. He would go onto the hit a series of moves, such as a Double Underhook Backbreaker, forcing Richards to dig deep. Having kicked out of a vicious Suplex Double Knee Backbreaker, Eddie Edwards decided to attempt to make the challenger submit. Laying on his back, Eddie Edwards stretched out Davey Richards, pulling back on his neck and his legs to extend the damaged back. When Richards refused to give up, Eddie Edwards decided to instead go for the Single Leg Crab, with his Knee placed firmly against the spine. Richards made it to the ropes, and Edwards was forced to release the hold. However, as he did, Edwards simply dragged Richards back to the middle of the ring, setting him up in a Surfboard Hold. This was then transitioned into a brutal looking Dragon Sleeper. The referee checked on Richards, but “The Lone Wolf” simply refused to give up!

Eventually, Davey Richards managed to escape the hold, but Eddie continued to decimate the back of his opponent. As he made it to his feet, Davey Richards attempted to strike at Edwards, but the Champion moved out of the way. He then lifted Davey Richards onto his shoulders, hitting a Backbreaker Rack Drop. He covered Richards, but Davey would not stay down. From here, Eddie grew frustrated and as a result, mistakes began to slip into his offence. This allowed Davey Richards a chance to build some momentum of his own, and as he broke out of Edwards’ offence, there was a small hope of a comeback.

Feeling his grasp was slipping, Edwards took to desperate measures and climbed to the top rope. As he attempted to hit a Double Footstomp to Davey Richards, the challenger matched him on the second rope. After a brief struggle, Richards managed to get the better of Eddie Edwards, hitting him with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex from the top turnbuckle. Richards crawled over to Edwards, but the Champion rolled out of the ring before Richards could either go for the pin, or build on his offence further. Davey followed Edwards to the outside, but this proved to be a mistake as the Champion pushed him into the Steel Steps. Richards once again barely made the count, but as Eddie stood over the challenger, Richards caught him in a Small Package, gaining a near two count. This was the catalyst for the comeback of Davey Richards. Clearly feeling the pain in his back, Davey winched every time he threw a strike towards Edwards. However as he did, he began to successfully wear the Champion down. He once again managed a near fall, following a Tiger Suplex.

Rallying the audience behind him, “The Lone Wolf” continued to fight back and despite looking as if his back could give out any second, he managed to take control of the match. Throwing Edwards across the ring and putting his “educated feet” to good use, Davey Richards looked to be closing in on something of an upset victory. It was at this point that BEEF and Trevor Lee made their presence felt at ringside.

However, before they could make it to the ring, Davey Richards spotted them. As they made their way towards the apron, Richards dived to the outside, taking out both of the intruders. Richards then returned to the ring, only to be rolled up by Eddie Edwards. The distraction allowed Eddie to gain a 1… 2… Kickout! Davey remained in the match, but as he got up, Eddie Edwards hit him with a Superkick and covered him again for the 1… 2…
again
Richards managed to kick out! Edwards was furious and stalked Richards, ready to go for a second Superkick. As Edwards thrust his boot towards the jaw of Richards, the challenger grabbed the Ankle and attempted to lock in the Ankle Lock.

Eddie Edwards rolled out of the attempted Submission and sent Davey Richards across the ring. Edwards got up and came at Richards, who hit him with a Superkick of his own. Edwards stumbled back and fell backwards into the ropes. He then staggered forward, with Davey Richards kicking him in the gut. Richards then hooked the arms, hitting a vicious Double Underhook Piledriver to the World Heavyweight Champion. Clearly out of it, Edwards recoiled back to his knees, allowing Davey Richards to hit him with a Spinning Roundhouse Kick, knocking him completely out cold. Richards hooked both of the Champion’s legs, pinning him for the 1… 2… 3!

Winner:
Davey Richards (in 15:59;
NEW World Heavyweight Champion
)

Having achieved his dream, Richards remained on the mat, being handed the title by the referee. Davey Richards was in a state of shock and hugged the Championship close to his chest. Jeremy Borash put over the war these two men had been through, saying that after everything Davey Richards went through in 2016, it looked as though he may have reached his lowest point. Tonight, as Impact Wrestling kicks off 2017, Davey Richards has reached the pinnacle of achievement in Professional Wrestling. Jeremy Borash says that tonight makes everything - from losing Championship, losing friends and being tormented for months - worth every second for Davey Richards. As the new World Heavyweight Champion made it to his feet, Michael Bennett and Maria appeared on the ramp.

Dressed in a suit, Michael Bennett began to walk down to the ring with a smile on his face. Maria remained at the top of the ramp. Davey Richards was suspicious of Bennett, as the new Champion made it to his feet. Michael Bennett entered the ring and smiled at Richards, pointing and laughing at the downed Eddie Edwards. Bennett then began to applaud Davey Richards, who remained skeptical as to Bennett’s intention. Richards asked him what he wants, but Bennett held his hands up, saying that he wanted no trouble. Michael then went to leave the ring, but turned around and jumped Davey Richards from behind. Davey Richards scrambled to make it to his feet, but Bennett hit him with a Running Knee Strike to the temple. By now, Eddie Edwards was beginning to stir, and as he took a corner, a smile grew across Bennett’s face. Bennett ran towards Edwards, hitting him “The Blacklist” Curb Stomp, before rolling him out of the ring with a boot.

Michael Bennett then stood tall in the ring, with the referee attempting to reason with him. Reaching into his back pocket, Michael Bennett produced a piece of paper. He unfolded the paper and Jeremy Borash cottoned on to what was happening. As Bennett handed it over to the referee, it became clear that the paper in Bennett’s hand was the “Feast or Fired” contract. Having won the Briefcase back in May, Michael Bennett was finally invoking his guaranteed World Heavyweight Championship match, just moments after Davey Richards had won the title!

As Brian Hebner reluctantly started the match, Michael Bennett was straight on top of the Champion. As Richards once again tried to make it back to his feet, he was once again met with the Running Knee of Michael Bennett. Bennett then dragged the fatigued Davey Richards to his feet, delivering the Knockout blow courtesy of the Go 2 Sleep. Michael Bennett covered Davey Richards, becoming the second new World Heavyweight Champion of the night!

Michael Bennett (in 0:59;
NEW World Heavyweight Champion
)

As the referee handed Michael Bennett the Championship, the completely fresh victor dusted off his suit. He then left the ring, joining his wife at the top of the entranceway. The live broadcast - Impact Wrestling’s first show of 2017 - went off air with Michael Bennett proudly holding the World Heavyweight Championship high in the air! Jeremy Borash says that tonight, two warriors battled for the right to be the best wrestler on the planet… but becoming the first man to successfully invoke a World Heavyweight Championship Feast or Fired Contract, Michael Bennett chose the perfect moment to make the biggest Impact of his career so far...

What followed he might not have agreed with, but what Michael says is true… he did make an impact. He made an impression on every single Impact Wrestling viewer, and he sure as hell made an impact on Kurt Angle. But Kurt isn’t the only guy in the back whose eyes are on Bennett, in fact they’re lucky that Kurt came out here, because if it wasn’t him, it would’ve been somebody who wants to take that Championship from Bennett. But with that much energy, that much raw aggression backstage, he had to promise those guys something, to keep them under control - if only for this week. Which is why, in tonight’s Main Event, Drew Galloway, Davey Richards </div></div></div></div><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>and</em></div></div></div></div><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> his old enemy Bobby Roode, will all get a chance to get their hands on the Champion. Michael Bennett is clearly not happy with this decision and his mood only gets worse when Angle informs him that his partners for tonight will be two other wrestlers desperate for that Championship. She then leads her husband away, having seemingly talked him round.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> <hr>Jeremy Borash then sends us to the back, where the Impact Wrestling cameras have caught up with Davey Richards. Despite much heated debate on social media surrounding Michael Bennett’s victory, the man most affected by it has remained totally silent. As he paces back and forth in a hallway, Richards is asked for his thoughts on tonight’s Main Event, where he will team with Bobby Roode and Drew Galloway.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><a href="http://s158.photobucket.com/user/thetramp_photos/media/Impact16/Davey%20Richards_zps5vqxc4xt.png.html" rel="external nofollow"><span>http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/Impact16/Davey%20Richards_zps5vqxc4xt.png</span></a></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Davey Richards says that all week everybody has been talking about Michael Bennett, but to him the name is irrelevant. Whether it’s Eddie Edwards, Drew Galloway or Bobby Roode, he doesn’t give a damn, because every single one of them is trying to eat off his plate. The in-ring action for the night kicked off with two X Division Athletes who have been more at home in the tag team division recently. Despite this, both competitors showed their singles abilities, in a fast paced, high octane match which saw both men take a lot out of their opponent very quickly.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> As a result, it wasn’t long before DJ Z went for the kill and was matched by Trenton Lock. This took the intensity of the match to the next level and resulted in the exchange of several high impact moves. Getting the better of the exchange, DJ Z’s Tornado DDT looked as though it could’ve been enough to finish the match. However, when Lock kicked out, DJ Z had to adapt and looked to dominate the match from that point. What followed was a good spell for one half of “Them Young Go Hards”, but Trenton Lock remained in the contest. The complexion of the match changed suddenly, when from seemingly out of nowhere, Lock hit DJ Z with a vicious Enziguri. As DJ Z got back to his feet, Trenton went to the outside, hitting a Springboard Crossbody which caught DJ Z off guard. As a result of this, Trenton Lock was able to pick up the victory.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Winner:</strong></div></div></div></div><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Trenton Lock (in 6:18)</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Following the match, Rockstar Spud stood up from his position on the commentary team and began to applaud Trenton Lock’s performance. But as of right now, there’s two thing that we need to know about “The Killer Elite Squad”. Everywhere they’ve been, they became the number one Tag Team, and now they’re in Impact Wrestling there’s no chance that’s going to change! He says it’s quite simple, as they conquered all four corners of this globe, Hoyt told Harry Smith all about Impact Wrestling and they always knew that one day they’d end up here… and last week was the perfect time to make the jump. He adds that it’s good to be back, and he knows they’ve missed him.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Smith then takes control back, saying that he’s sure we’ll hear all about his pedigree, and his legacy in this business, but this isn’t about the individual. This is about the most cohesive, destructive force in the business today. That’s not just talk, and they’re ready to back it up! He adds that Lance told him all about the Impact Wrestling audience, and how they know talent when they see it. Which is why they don’t need any further introduction than to say that they’ve dominated Japan… they’ve dominate the World… and to tell Lee & Everett that they’re coming for the World Tag Team Championships!</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Going into the break, we are told that The Killer Elite Squad will make their Impact Wrestling in-ring debuts… next!</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41727" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><em>Tag Team Match</em></div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><a href="http://s158.photobucket.com/user/thetramp_photos/media/Impact16/Harry%20Smith_zps050weqpe.png.html" rel="external nofollow"><span>http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/Impact16/Harry%20Smith_zps050weqpe.png</span></a><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><a href="http://s158.photobucket.com/user/thetramp_photos/media/Impact16/Lance%20Hoyt_zps5i2putlb.png.html" rel="external nofollow"><span>http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/Impact16/Lance%20Hoyt_zps5i2putlb.png</span></a><a href="http://s158.photobucket.com/user/thetramp_photos/media/Impact16/VS_zpszwdgl1c8.png.html" rel="external nofollow"><span>http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/Impact16/VS_zpszwdgl1c8.png</span></a><a href="http://s158.photobucket.com/user/thetramp_photos/media/Impact16/de6e4c38-d28f-4570-ac9b-2664ad2a5914_zpskdkvmga0.png.html" rel="external nofollow"><span>http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/Impact16/de6e4c38-d28f-4570-ac9b-2664ad2a5914_zpskdkvmga0.png</span></a><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><a href="http://s158.photobucket.com/user/thetramp_photos/media/Impact16/Scotty%20Slade_zps6dxgzny3.png.html" rel="external nofollow"><span>http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/Impact16/Scotty%20Slade_zps6dxgzny3.png</span></a><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Killer Elite Squad vs. Landslide</strong></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Backing their words from the opening bell, Harry Smith and Lance Hoyt put in a truly dominant display, taking the match straight to the annoying Scotty Slade and Mark Shurman. Having taken Mark Shurman - who entered the ring illegally - out of the equation with a Big Boot, Lance Hoyt tagged in Harry Smith, who signalled for the end. Lance Hoyt then dragged Scotty Slade to his feet, locking him in a Full Nelson. He then lifted Slade up, allowing Harry Smith to hit him with a Powerbomb. Trevor Lee was then led to the ring by BEEF, who held both the Tag Team and Newcomer of the Year awards. As the match got underway, the returning Jeff Hardy went straight at Trevor Lee, who was partially responsible for Jeff Hardy missing over a month of action. Jeff seemed to be in control, until BEEF made his presence felt and allowed Trevor Lee to gain a footing in the match.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><a href="http://s158.photobucket.com/user/thetramp_photos/media/Impact16/BEEF_Ring_zpsuq4jumiv.png.html" rel="external nofollow"><span>http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/thetramp_photos/Impact16/BEEF_Ring_zpsuq4jumiv.png</span></a></div><p></p><p></p><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> As Trevor Lee looked to maintain hold of the match, Jeff Hardy showed that he wouldn’t give up, at which point BEEF once again got involved. Distracting the referee, BEEF threw one of the trophies into the ring, allowing Trevor Lee to attempt to take his opponent out. However, as Lee swung at Hardy, he ducked, causing Lee to throw the award across the ring. He went to check on it’s condition, and naively allowed himself to lose focus. From here, Jeff Hardy was able to take the match back, knocking BEEF from the apron. Jeff Hardy then went for a Twist of Fate. Lee managed to escape the hold, and rolled out of the ring. While Bobby Roode and Drew Galloway at least showed some willingness to work together, the others shared no such desire. This led to something of a chaotic match, with blind tags and partners arguing through the contest. In between the bickering, three clear division formed within the groups, as Davey Richards focussed much of his attack on Michael Bennett. While Bobby Roode and Ethan Carter also spent a large portion of the match at loggerheads. The complexation of the match soon changed, when - having directed much of his offence at Eddie Edwards - Drew Galloway found himself in the ring with Ethan Carter. Following a heated exchange between the two, they went to top rope. However, as the result of a mistake from Drew Galloway, Ethan Carter fell to the ropes and to the outside of the ring, injuring his throat in the process.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The match was halted, as the concerned referee checked on Ethan Carter. He eventually threw up the “X” signal, with medics quickly arriving on the scene. When Ethan Carter was eventually removed from the ringside area, Maria distracted Drew Galloway and Michael Bennett launched him into the guardrail. This resulted in the match proceeding more like a 2-on-2 than a Six Man Tag. Using the circumstances to their advantage, Michael Bennett and Eddie Edwards took control of the match, and when Bobby Roode suffered a similar fate to Drew Galloway, they appeared set to zone in on Davey Richards.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> In complete control, Michael Bennett hit Davey Richards with a Running Knee Lift, and looked set to beat Davey Richards in successive weeks. However, as Michael Bennett set up for the “Blacklist” Curb Stomp (by backing into his corner), Eddie Edwards slapped himself on the back, making himself the legal man. This inscensed Michael Bennett, who began arguing with Eddie Edwards, causing the referee to get between them. As he ordered Bennett out of the ring, Davey Richards got to his feet and pushed Eddie Edwards into Michael Bennett, knocking him to the floor below. As Maria tended to her husband, Davey Richards rolled Eddie Edwards up, and scored the 1… 2… 3 from nowhere!</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Winners:</strong></div></div></div></div><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Bobby Roode, Davey Richards & Drew Galloway (in 10:30)</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> After the match, Maria handed Michael Bennett his World Heavyweight Championship and began to back up the ramp, before he’d even got to his feet. In the ring, Davey Richards stared down the Champion, as did Bobby Roode and Drew Galloway on the outside. Eddie Edwards, who had now rolled to the apron, also had his eyes on the Champion, who - if there was any doubt before - knows he is public enemy number one. Understanding that he isn’t safe surrounded by Impact Wrestling’s top talent, Michael Bennett and his wife Maria leave up the ramp, with Bennett holding his Championship high in the air as they exit the entranceway. The cameras then focus on Davey Richards stood tall in the ring, having picked up the victory in the match.</div></div></div></div></div></blockquote>

He had the Briefcase and I wasn't sure if I wanted it on him or Roode. For some reason I gave it back to him and decided I wasn't that into the Feast or Fired thing that much. Can't see me doing one against next year (might put it to a survey with a few other questions I have). So I just used it for a "shock" tactic on a live Impact, which was booked as if it was to appeal to new viewers, to give the idea "anything can happen in Impact Wrestling!" He kind of isn't somebody who I'd consider World Champion material (I had a higher opinion of him before his real life run in Impact tbh <img alt=":o" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/redface.png.900245280682ef18c5d82399a93c5827.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />), but as somebody who "got lucky" I think he can do the job. I will do a post after this block of shows with some backstage "insight" to the decision, but as of now I don't see this being a particularly long reign.</p><p> </p><p> In fact, I think one of the reasons this show took relatively long to write was because I was having cold feet about the switch, and I really feel I need to get the World Championship back on track pretty soon as it's at risk of reaching a point where everyone has had a go with it. Hopefully something can get me behind Bennett as Champ (as I felt the same with Eddie winning the title before I felt he began to develop a decent character) and can have a decent run.</p><p> </p><p> Ethan Carter suffered a "Class IV Fractured Larynx", following a botch from Drew Galloway (who he now hates <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/mad.png.69834f23b9a8bf290d98375f56f1c794.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />). Throughout the mentally and physically draining process of recovery, Impact Wrestling offers our unreserved support to one of our most valued talents. Targeting a Slammiversary return, we hope to help Ethan’s drive to recovery, with a promise. His space is always there, and whenever he’s ready to return, Impact Wrestling will welcome him back with open arms. In his time away from the spotlight, we hope that Ethan and the fans can reflect on the achievements of Ethan’s first three years with the company, with many more milestones to reach as we continue our partnership with one of the most well rounded performers in Impact Wrestling history”. Which is why this week, Kurt Angle has been in constant contact with Impact Wrestling management, putting together a great night of action and working on a number of huge announcements for the show.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> In the Main Event match of the night, a deeply personal rivalry will come to a head, as Bram looks to avenge his lost last month, against the “Real Man” Johnny Curtis. Dating back to the post-Bound For Glory episode of Impact Wrestling, “The Chesterfield Plague” took great exception to Curtis claiming that he wasn’t a “real man”. Having proved himself to be one of the toughest competitors in Impact Wrestling, Bram found himself on the receiving end of some effective mind games, and Johnny Curtis scored something of a surprising victory over him. This match will allow Bram to once again prove his toughness, but may be the source of further embarrassment for the self-proclaim “Impact’s Hardest”.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Elsewhere, Michael Bennett will address the Main Event match last week, where his team - featuring Eddie Edwards and Ethan Carter - fell short against Davey Richards, Drew Galloway and Bobby Roode. The fallout to that match is bound to be explosive, with all the competitors looking to stake their claim on the World Heavyweight Championship scene.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Following their impressive debut last week, The Killer Elite Squad will face a much more difficult challenge, in the shape of, former World Tag Team Champions, The New Rising. After a dominant victory, Harry Smith and Lance Hoyt sent a clear message to the current World Tag Team Champions, a warning shot which didn’t sit well with Eli Drake and Micah. Feeling that they “run” the tag team division, The New Rising told K.E.S that if they wanted a shot at the gold, they’d have to go through them. Of course, Harry Smith and Lance Hoyt have no issue with doing just that, and tonight’s show will open with explosive Tag Team action!</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Also on Impact Wrestling</strong></div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> - We will receive a medical update on the condition of Ethan Carter, who was seriously injured during last week’s Main Event.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> - Trevor Lee and BEEF have a decision to make. Last week, Kurt Angle told Trevor Lee that he could no longer hold the World Tag Team Championships alone, telling him to find a partner or vacate the titles. With no return date in sight for Andrew Everett, Kurt implied that it was maybe time for the “Chief” to step up. Being the potential partner didn’t sit well with BEEF, who isn’t particularly known for his in-ring prowess. He would however, love to add another title to his Impact Wrestling resume. Tonight, Angle will look for answer from the so called “New Wave”.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> - The “Rockstar Spud Challenge” returns, as the X Division Champion continues his search for potential Number One Contenders (despite Sami Callihan already having a guaranteed shot). Of course, both competitors will have to keep their wits about them, as Sami Callihan will certainly be lurking in the shadows.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> - Taking on her new role in Impact Wrestling, Gail Kim will look to restore order within the Knockouts Division, as she looks towards building a new era of Women’s Wrestling within the company.</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41727" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Confirmed Matches:</strong></div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Bram vs. Johnny Curtis</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Killer Elite Squad (Harry Smith & Lance Hoyt) vs. The New Rising (Eli Drake & Micah)</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Jade vs. Kimber Lee</div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Matt Hardy vs. Rockstar Spud </div></div></div></div><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:8px;">- Rockstar Spud Challenge</span></div></div></div></div><p><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"><span style="font-family:'Franklin Gothic Medium';"></span></span></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Jessie Godderz & Pepper Parks vs. The Kings of Queens (BJ Myers & Trenton Lock)</div></div></div></div></div></blockquote>
