~ PROLOGUE ~</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

Most tales of pain and hardship don't begin on a bright, sunny morning. Less begin with insurance fraud. Fewer still with an old autographed 8x10 of some broken-down wrestler you've likely never heard of. No - most stories start with a brutal shit-kicking and get worse from there. Happily, this one has all of the above.</p><p> </p><p>

And so it was that Josh Garner stepped out of the pristine offices of Lockwood and Howard into Auckland's glorious sunshine with a smile, a dream, a faded 8x10 glossy and a cheque for $10,000. </p><p> </p><p>

At 19 and 5'6”, pale and scrawny, Garner cut a determined figure. Flaking bedroom walls adorned with posters of American wrestlers and metal bands from the 90s were a life time ago. Everything had been building to this point - for today was the day that Gabe 'The Pitbull' Mitchell came home.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>* * *</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

A hard-working journeyman the world over but as close to a national hero to the wrestling fans of New Zealand as it gets. Eisen in the early 90s. Furusawa. PGHW. And, as DAVE closed it's doors and switched off the lights, one of the last to leave. You'll find Gabe Mitchell's name scrawled on the wall with the rest of them. A living legend but with little to show for it, Gabe ached. Ached in his back, ached in his knees but most of all ached in his heart. At 45 The Pitbull was not yet ready to retire to the dog house.</p><p> </p><p>

The flight from Brisbane was uneventful. Cramped, stale and mercifully short. Uneventful until a small, thick-glassed kid met him at the baggage carousel. He stood holding his bags and an old, worn photo. Displaying it like a sign. He saw on it a face he barely recognised any more and the scrawl below it said 'Pitbull.'</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>* * *</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

This is a story of brutality. A tale of triumph and redemption. One man's opening gambit and the final chapter of another who has seen the world. This is the story of Fade 2 Black.</p>

~ CHAPTER 1 ~</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

There were never meant to be any rules in Fade 2 Black. The concept of a referee was a concession to authority – as if it should have any rightful place in a promotion that built its foundations on anti-establishment and counter-culture. Fade 2 Black was designed to wear its colours firmly on its sleeve: it looked bad, it smelled bad and, if you got close enough, it would probably taste bad. But, however unpleasant Josh Garner liked to imagine his gritty hardcore promotion, nothing could have prepared him for what lay ahead.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>* * *</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The doorbell was a harsh shriek. A tinny warble that pierced the deserted neighbourhood and made Josh feel every bit the intruder. With no reply he cracked open the door and made his way into the apartment, but before he could announce himself, a bottle shattered inches above his head. A guttural moan then a second bottle, this one heavier, thunked into a radiator and relieved itself over the worn, musty carpet. A cry of anguish, a series of angry coughs, then nothing until a painful sounding thud to the floor. Beside the upturned sofa lay Gabe 'The Pitbull' Mitchell.</p><p> </p><p>

It's hard to look someone in the eye from a horizontal position. Even harder through glazed, bloodshot eyes and a rising and falling beer belly obscuring most of the surroundings. As it was, Gabe made no attempt and just rolled onto his side, the shift in weight emitting further smells to the already rank concoction of stale booze, sweat and cigarettes. </p><p> </p><p>

As Josh dropped his kit bag and stepped over the now snoring Mitchell, he knew two things: #1 that he'd never face a bigger challenge again and #2 that however worn and tarnished his name may be, the New Zealand public would pay to see The Pitbull's first match on home soil for over 20 years. Sadly, he would turn out to be wrong on both counts. </p><p> </p><p>

Josh flicked the switch on an old, rusted kettle and set about looking for the coffee.</p>

Nearly 300 seats had been rammed into the hall but only 7 were occupied. Davey had the time to greet each attendee personally on his way to the ring. One or two them may have recognised him from some of the open-mic comedy nights around the city but if so they weren't admitting to it. After some of his best lines fell to heavy silence, Davey decided these people had glued their hands to their behinds. He broke off and quickly introduced the first match.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41785" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p> <span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Seth%20Graves_zpsmzhb0ihi.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/VS3_zpslysyh9bt.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Josh%20Garner_zpssdm6vps3.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Seth Graves vs Josh 'The Piranha' Garner</strong></p><p> A spirited opener with the roles quickly defined - Graves the bigger man working over the underdog Piranha. The elder Graves had made his way down to the ring and was swinging a chain menacingly. He stepped through the ropes and both brothers advanced, backing Josh into a corner. It looked grim for The Piranha but from out of nowhere a trash can flew into the ring and struck Mark fully in the head! Under the ropes slid Toad Boy and he followed it up with a wild haymaker to Seth! Toad Boy had hit the ring for the save! The ref took one look and declared an impromptu match. <strong>Rating E</strong></p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41785" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Mark%20Graves_zpsgwcvvkif.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Seth%20Graves_zpsmzhb0ihi.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/VS3_zpslysyh9bt.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Toad%20Boy_alt1_zpsvd9potqd.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Josh%20Garner_zpssdm6vps3.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Weapons Match</strong></p><p><strong> The Graves Brothers vs Toad Boy & Josh Garner</strong></p><p> All 4 men brought the violence to this one. Toad and Garner showed great understanding for two guys who'd never worked together before. The two teams went back and forth and the crowd got into the action. Josh dived off the top rope to the outside with little finesse but great energy and Seth took a vicious DDT onto a chair from Toad Boy only for Mark to make the save. Any good will towards him was short lived though as once the bell rang it became immediately apparent why DIW didn't renew his contract. Crowe took his lumps from the wild swinging Bruce and mercifully kept it short, pinning him using the ropes for leverage. The referee didn't see it and raised Crowe's arm, the victor. <strong>Rating E-</strong></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Caleb%20Crowe_zpswfwntapu.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Caleb Crowe made sure to over-stay his welcome, parading round the ring and celebrating his win as if he'd already won the championship. However, half a minute in it became clear that the paying public were not buying what he was selling. This should have been Caleb's cue to bail but he milked it for another 4 and a half minutes, posturing for any sort of reaction. Red Hook looked strong and took great enjoyment in butchering their hapless foes. The Jukebox boys didn't get much offence in, though a spirited comeback from Gibby threatened to get a chant going before he was cut off and beat down. Both Gibby and Buggy bled and it was Gibby who was put through a table with a double powerbomb for the finish. A shaky, hand-held camera affair, shot in black and white with D-Man and XLN looking menacing, all set to Cypress Hill. This may have worked... if anyone had organised a screen for the audience to watch it on. Instead the paying public were treated to 4 and a half minutes of Cock The Hammer to an empty ring. They sat thoroughly confused. At least it'll make a good DVD extra. In a nice touch The Pitbull came out to his old DAVE music, Led Zeppelin's 'When The Levee Breaks.' Powerful booming drums and a soulful, mourning harmonica captured the moment perfectly. If he was expecting a more grand affair, or even just more fans, he didn't let it show. He worked well with the less experienced Trask even taking a nasty bump to the outside, showing willing where men half his age may have reconsidered. A good, solid match - Pitbull won with the piledriver. <strong>Rating D-</strong></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Gabe%20Mitchell_zpsm0bdl82d.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Gabe Mitchell thanked the fans for coming out and said how much it meant to him to be back on home soil for the first time in over 20 years. The crowd may not have appreciated the magnitude of the event, it being held in the hall of a sweaty comic book store but the occasion was not lost on Pitbull. Whether genuinely choked up or just a master of his craft, Gabe pulled on the heartstrings of each member of the audience, convincing them how truly important this next match would be. For the first time in his career, at the age of 45, The Pitbull would wear gold. He broke the spell by barking to the back for Caleb Crowe to get his "lilly-livered, yellow-bellied arse out here!" <strong>Rating E</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41785" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Gabe%20Mitchell_zpsm0bdl82d.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/VS3_zpslysyh9bt.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Caleb%20Crowe_zpswfwntapu.jpg</span><p> <a href="<a href="http://photobucket.com/" rel="external nofollow">http://photobucket.com/"</a> target="_blank"><img src="<a href="http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/F2B%20Underground_zpsq3qpfedp.jpg" rel="external nofollow">http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/F2B%20Underground_zpsq3qpfedp.jpg"</a> border="0" alt=" photo F2B Underground_zpsq3qpfedp.jpg"/></a></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Tournament Final for the F2B Underground Title - Ladder Match</strong></p><p><strong> Gabe 'The Pitbull' Mitchell vs Caleb Crowe</strong></p><p> A definite candidate for match of the night. Both men fought hard to scale the rungs early in the bout to no success. Crowe, the livelier of the two, was fresher and more energetic. Mitchell's misfortune in fighting Trask so late on the card clearly left the rested Crowe with the advantage. Crowe openly mocked Mitchell and relished in striking the veteran with the ladder several times, goading him to get back up. To the cheers of the crowd Gabe responded with a sluggish standing dropkick and sent the ladder back into the face of Crowe. The finish came as both men fought at the top of the ladder, Mitchell edging it. Three short strikes looked to have rocked Crowe and almost sent him crashing down but he just about clung on. As Gabe made one last stretch for the belt Crowe hit a low blow and a crumpled Pitbull slipped from the ladder, and fell through a table below. Wearily Caleb Crowe undid the clasp and retrieved the belt to become the first Fade 2 Black Underground Champion. <strong>Rating D-</strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Show Rating D-</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p>

There's been some good feedback from the first Fade 2 Black show in Auckland, New Zealand. Reports of a good locker room and plenty of beer flowing before and after the event.</p><p> </p><p>

Response to the one day Underground Title tournament was positive and it appears that there's plans to run a similar event to crown tag champions next month.</p><p> </p><p>

Fade 2 Black management have also been looking at expanding the roster and have recently been in touch with Shag Daniels and Tama. Not a lot is known about either of these young indy workers but we've got their bios below - </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Attendance: 10

The host Davey Lane took up the mic and plastered on another fake smile for the 10 occupied seats in front of him. Only 1 person sat alongside a companion, everyone else was scattered amongst the first 3 rows on various sides of the ring. All sat in silence. All male. Davey wiped a bead from his brow and tried not to think of the stand-up gig he turned down for this. Sure it would've only covered petrol but at least there'd be a decent house. Beaming brightly, Davey explained the nights attraction of a 4 team tournament to crown the first tag team champions of Fade 2 Black. And with that, introduced the first match.

Tournament Semi Final for the F2B Tag Team Title

Red Hook Hardcore vs Toad Boy and Josh Garner

The fans seemed happy to see Toad and Garner teaming again after last month's event. Their enthusiasm waned though at the introduction of the boys from Brooklyn, XLN again suffering the majority of the abuse. The match was sloppy but a marked improvement on Red Hook's last outing. D-Man connected with a hard Yakuza kick on Toad, and Garner hit a tornado DDT out of the corner for a close fall. Toad Boy won the match for his team though, finishing XLN with the Toad Splash. The F2B Underground champion hit the ring to the coarse language of Buckcherry's 'Crazy Bitch.' He looked smug, as if he could actually see his reflection in the championship belt to admire. His instructions to the audience were to forget any tournament on tonight as he'd already won the big one. He gloated that he'd beaten the legendary Gabe Mitchell and sent him back to the nursing home with a bottle of cheap scotch and some breath mints. That line may have raised some eyebrows as it was clear Caleb was working without a script tonight. He concluded that all that was left to do was to cement his reign by offering up an open challenge. Before any answer was forthcoming though, Crowe yelled for his music and strutted off to the back making 'glug glug' drinking motions with his hand. Rating D-

Weapons Match

'Insane' Wayne Bruce vs Cameron Trask

A standard hardcore-based, bring your own weapons (BYOW) match. It began with Trask arguing that he was "above hardcore" and that he was not prepared to crease his suit for a bargain-basement washout like Bruce. Bruce seemed perplexed and looked to the crowd for encouragement. Feigning that he was not prepared to compete, Trask motioned that he was leaving the ring only to jump Wayne as his back was turned. After that the match was basic, uninspiring hardcore with Wayne making a comeback and running through his usual assortment of calamitous spots. He pinned Trask after hitting his Missile From Mangere flying chair shot/splash combo. Rating E-

After the bout Wayne Bruce celebrated but stopped at the offer of a handshake from Cameron Trask. Though the crowd urged him not to, Wayne fell for his second trick of the night and Trask felled him with a kick between the legs. Dragging him up by the hair Trask then hit his Pay Off fisherman's buster and reached into his suit jacket. Standing on the throat of Bruce he calmly wrote him a cheque and, bending down, scrunched it and forced it into his mouth. Sadly, the crowd didn't respond to this at all. Rating F-

The show then took a different turn as the lights dimmed and Michael Jackson's 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough' (2003 Edit) played. Sauntering through the curtain came Shag Daniels, AKA Dr Dream, replete with pink feather boa and sequined black leather coat. Daniels took the mic and described himself as "a modern-day love shaman." He proclaimed that he was capable of all manner of psychic warfare but that he chooses to use his powers for good, for the benefit of mankind. Shag continued that he had come to bring peace and love to the good people of Auckland but taking one look at what was on offer he'd changed his mind. Since there were no one worthy to screw, Shag said he'd have to fight instead! He then said he'd heard Gabe 'the Pitbull' Mitchell has a had time getting dates and that he could teach the old dog some new tricks. Rating E

Tournament Semi Final for the F2B Tag Team Title

The Graves Brothers vs Jukebox Heroes

A short affair with both Graves brothers dominating from the beginning. Buggy and Gibby tried valiantly but didn't come close, each taking some wicked power moves, with Buggy being dropped on his head more than once. At around the 8 minute mark Gibby was taken down by Mark and made to submit to the GTF. Rating E+

With a piercing shriek and manic laughter Tama tore the curtain open and ran to the ring. Throwing crazy karate chops to imaginary foes and screaming at the empty chairs set the crowd on edge. They clearly didn't know what to make of this newcomer to Fade 2 Black. Tama leaped to the top rope and perched on the corner, calling for the mic. He revealed that he had come to answer Caleb Crowe's open invitation to challenge for the F2B Underground title. In a solemn tone he began counting down from 10. As he reached 4, Crowe's music hit and Tama lit up, backflipping off the post. Rating F+

F2B Underground Title

Caleb Crowe vs Tama

Another short match but one that allowed Caleb Crowe to showcase his talents. Crowe looked strong and worked over the younger, smaller Tama, beating him down and choking him with the ropes. Tama made the most of his opportunities though and responded with some high flying offence, including a springboard headscissors off the second rope. Ultimately Crowe took control evading a moonsault and polishing Tama off with the Crowe's Wings double-underhook facebuster. Rating E

Gabe 'The Pitbull' Mitchell vs 'Dr Dream' Shag Daniels

The match began with Daniels pointing and laughing at Mitchell's hanging gut and blowing out his cheeks to mock him. Gabe dropped him with a hard right and the action kicked off from there. Shag got a surprising amount of offence in, going toe-to-toe with The Pitbull and showing some great athleticism. A standing dropkick looked particularly impressive. There were some nice old school spots worked into this - the older, slower Pitbull being outworked by the young, hungry Daniels only for the wiser Mitchell to catch the youngster out. In the end Mitchell evaded a leapfrog and slapped on the sleeper hold for the win by submission. The hardcore fans were drawn into the match and actually prepared to watch a wrestling story unfold without one chair swung or table broken. Rating D

The Graves Brothers hit the ring snarling that tonight they would finish what they started last month at Anarchy Reigns. Tournament Final for the F2B Tag Team Title - Ladder Match

The Graves Brothers vs Toad Boy & Josh Garner

As with last month at Anarchy Reigns, this was another championship tournament culminating in a ladder match. Similarly, this was another bout that didn't disappoint. All four men attacked with abandon using inventive ways to propel a ladder into another man's skull. When that appeared exhausted, chairs were sourced as was a table, two fire extinguishers and a life size bat-signal that Ursula's Comics had used to promote Batman vs Superman. It provided mirth on it's appearance, wheeled from the back by Garner, until both Toad and Garner rammed Mark with it and ran him over. The obligatory two ladders side by side spot was a success as all four men took it turns to strike their foes and, as both ladders tipped, all four took nasty bumps and landed hard. This prompted a chain of big moves as Seth struck with his Beyond The Grave on Toad Boy, The Pirahna responding with his Facebreaker on Seth. Mark Graves then felled Josh and locked in his GTF only for the recovering Toad Boy to hit his Toad Splash on the pair of them!

The action was rising to a crescendo and, in the bump of the night, Josh hit a second Facebreaker, this time on Mark and off the ladder, catching a staggered Seth Graves on the way down! With the path clear, a bloody, battered Toad Boy climbed the last remaining ladder and claimed the Tag Team championship belts! Rating D

Another nice show. Matches against the main eventers definitely helped the two newcomers, and giving the tag team title ladder match the main event was the cherry on top. Ah no. I'm not a massive WWE fan to be honest. A lot of my stuff is old stuff.

No worries LOL It wasn't a big deal :)

Anyway, liking the new graphics, buddy... but I enjoyed the original one, with the backstory, even more. Maybe you can incorporate that next time :p

There's been more news from Auckland this week as Fade 2 Black's Underground champion Caleb Crowe is getting mentions for all the wrong reasons. While no one is questioning the champ's ability in the ring, he seems to be causing quite the stink backstage. Reprimanded publicly by boss Josh Garner for damaging Toad Boy's rental car, Crowe is now a one man attitude problem. Whilst still the champion at the time of writing, sources have indicated that Crowe is becoming a serious problem for the F2B owner and there's only so much Garner is prepared to take.</p><p> </p><p>

The other bit of news we're hearing from the hardcore outfit is that there has been another new addition to the roster. Very similar circumstances to the last two signings in that he's fairly new to the industry but is being given an opportunity to impress. Bio included below -</p><p> </p><p>

The crowd took on a hush as Davey Lane welcomed them to the F2B Arena, AKA Ursula's Comics. Davey was a lot more serious tonight and made emphasis of the show name, Night Of The Livewire, almost at pains with himself to describe just what lay ahead for the ticket bearing public. He built up the main event to be one of great importance but could hear an audible groan as he announced a 10 man battle royale. It wasn't for long though as he revealed that the ring ropes would be wrapped in barbed wire! This would be F2B's first annual Livewire match and it's brutality would echo far and wide!

Gabe 'The Pitbull' Mitchell vs D-Man

A big pop from the crowd as The Pitbull jerked the curtain. Rather than being a demotion there was a genuine sense of importance to the event and the veteran was trusted to start things of with a bang. On paper, matching Mitchell up against D-Man looked like it could be a clash of styles but the two put together a solid match, noted for it's chemistry. The finish came as D-Man missed a knee drop from the top and The Pitbull polished him off with the piledriver. Rating D-

Toad Boy hit the ring, without regular partner Josh Garner. Leaning against the ropes and draping himself over, he looked out into the crowd and explained how tonight was history in the making. How those in attendance would remember this day on their death beds and speak of it in hushed tones. Toad said that this match was nothing like any before it and it would send tremors around the wrestling world -

"A small, hardcore promotion... with a few loyal fans... on a tiny rock... in the middle of nowhere... will make history tonight. And it will change the face of wrestling on the world stage. Not today or tomorrow, but years from now people will be able to pin-point the exact moment that the violence and brutality reached a new level and destroyed western civilisation as we know it... and it started here. This is your moment. This is your new dawn. And this is the moment for Toad Boy. I will outlast nine other men, I will conquer the Livewire and I will be your next F2B Underground champion." XLN vs Gibby Dillon

This was a horrible match and the crowd voiced their disapproval. The work was sloppy and even though it was kept short the match fell apart several times. The crowd was thankful for the finish, Gibby continuing his 100% loss record, XLN pinning him after a Cock The Hammer. Rating F+

Next out was Shag Daniels AKA Dr Dream. He let everybody know that as well as being a fine wrestler, and an even finer lover, he was also a professional new-age shaman. A doctor no less! He ran his fingers through his pink feather boa as he reminded people that their scepticism was a weakness, an ailment... a disease. Shag smiled and announced that he cured people of their sickness every day, it just took a little faith. He encouraged the people of Ursula's Comics, Auckland to have faith in him tonight as he fought in the Livewire match.

"Sift through your tea leaves, look to the stars and check out my crystal balls! It don't matter because my destiny is clear. I have seen the future and I know the truth! Heads will turn and suckas will learn: Dr Dream will make a stunning champion." Rating F-

Wildcard Tag Match - No.1 Contender for the F2B Tag Title

Cameron Trask and Shag Daniels vs Wayne Bruce and Tama

Davey Lane on commentary made a special effort to mention how this was a wildcard match and that neither team were regular partners - presuming that this match would somehow find it's way onto DVD at some point. The bout was solid but unspectacular, with the two teams understandably lacking in cohesion. All 4 men were given opportunity to fit one or two of their signature moves in and Cameron Trask ended the bout with his fisherman's buster, The Payoff, pinning Tama. Rating E

The fans had already heard from Toad Boy and Shag Daniels and made to understand the importance of tonight's main event, the Livewire match. Next out was Gabe 'The Pitbull' Mitchell. Slow to get down the stage steps and wincing slightly as he climbed up onto the ring apron, Mitchell looked every bit the worn down veteran.

“Every table... every chair... every broken bone comes at a cost... but it's not a bill you settle in your 20s or even your 30s. I'm 45 years old and wrestling is my world. And it feels some days like that this world is done for me. And then I see fools like Caleb Crowe strutting like he's cock of the walk and it takes 20 years off me. It doesn't matter how many ladders I fall from, how many tables I crash through or how much barbed wire has to puncture my flesh. While there's breath left in my lungs I will fight. It's all I've had for as long as I can remember and I'm too old to change now. Fade 2 Black will be my first title in 27 years of wrestling and it'll be the only one I will ever need. For that, I'll walk through hell and dig the tunnel to get there.” Rating E-

Seth Graves vs Buggy

Seth looked more wild than usual. He got into an argument with a fan on the way down to the ring and seemed more interested in continuing that battle than dealing with his opponent. Buggy certainly used it to his advantage and rocked the Graves brother with a couple of short strikes. Dodging the return offence Buggy struck in flurries then backed off. This tactic worked for a time until Seth gained control by being bigger, stronger and able to throw Buggy around the ring at will. Seth pulverised his foe with several big impact moves culminating in a brutal tilt-a-whirl slam in the centre of the ring. Rather than follow up with the cover though Seth went back to antagonising the fan he argued with earlier. It was an error of judgement as Buggy staggered to his feet and hit the Bugg Splatter for the win! When he came to, Seth just stared into his hands unable to comprehend his mistake. Rating E

Josh Garner came out to the ring, dragging his old battered hockey stick behind him. It drew some odd looks why he carried it and he attested that he'd never played a game of hockey in his life... but this one time... two guys mugged him. He explained that he got beat up pretty bad and had to stay overnight in hospital as the doctors stitched his head back together.

“This was when I was about 15. To this day I can still feel the scars every time I run my fingers through my hair. About a month after the mugging I saw the same two guys... but they didn't see me. It was as if the sky turned red. Deep, purple, bruised clouds closed in and obscured everything but my two targets. I charged and grabbed at the nearest thing available. As fate would have it a sports company had been staging an event that day to promote hockey to kids. What I'm sure had been a dull and tiring day came alive as 5'6” and 140lbs of rampaging, ass-kicking Piranha cannoned across the stage and smashed a 3/4 sized junior hockey stick into the skull of ass clown #1. As if that wasn't enough, a second later ass clown #2 met the same fate, but to the face. Moral of the story: people will put you down but they better learn to keep you down because a hockey stick to the face will change your life!” Rating E-

F2B Underground Title

Caleb Crowe vs Josh 'The Piranha' Garner

The crowd were right behind Garner as the diminutive challenger looked to take on the arrogant, undefeated champion. Both men hit hard but it looked as if Crowe had underestimated how hard a 140lb Piranha can hit. Josh rocked Crowe with all manner of fists and elbow strikes, throwing everything he could... but eventually the champion just out wrestled him. Taking Josh down and staying on him, Crowe wore down his challenger. It was an unusual sight for Crowe to be imposing on a match - usually he would be the one giving up the size advantage - but he looked to enjoy the dominance. Josh fought back and came close with a tornado DDT out of the corner but Crowe put him away with a superkick and then the Crowe's Wings for the clean pinfall. Rating E

http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Wayne%20Bruce_zpszbfwwnyq.jpg

'Insane' Wayne Bruce charged out to the ring to the familiar expletives of The Offspring's 'Session.' He attempted to snatch the mic from Davey Lane, but instead tripped and barged the announcer to the mat. Wayne scrabbling on his hands and knees for the bouncing microphone prompted the audience into a slow chant of "man-bat!" in reference to Gotham's caped crusader. Finally grasping the mic, 'Insane' shouted to bring out the barbed and that he was ready now! From his prone position Davey Lane's eyes went wide, shaking his head and making the cut throat gesture.

"Ok then!" shouted Wayne, a little hesitantly, "I'll be ready... later!" Rating F

Toad Boy vs Mark Graves

The two tore into each other from the bell. No chain wrestling, no feeling-out process, just punches, kicks, elbows and knees. Throw in a few eye-gouges and headbutts and this had all the ingredients for a back and forth slug-fest. Toad Boy came close with a knee lift into a neckbreaker and Mark responded with a fluid looking spinebuster, again for a close fall. The two continued to trade moves until Toad clotheslined both Mark and himself over the top rope. They continued to fight outside and were quickly joined, first by Seth Graves, and then Josh Garner. All four men continued to trade blows and made no attempt to return the match to the ring. It left referee Masa with no choice but to call for the bell and rule a no contest. Rating E+

Davey Lane hit the ring and announced the night's main event - the 10 man barbed wire battle royale - The Livewire! Nine competitors broke through the curtain and set themselves within the confines of the glistening, churned metal. All nine braced themselves for the carnage and suffering that lay ahead - but one was missing. As one, the crowd rose to the sound of Led Zeppelin as The Pitbull pulled the curtain aside... and was knocked to the ground! An unfamiliar figure, a huge, towering heavyweight tore into Gabe Mitchell and beat him down. Gripping Mitchell's face in one hand he brought down several punches before throwing Gabe head first into the guard rail. From the curtain swaggered the F2B Underground Champion Caleb Crowe applauding this altercation. Mitchell, prone across the rail, attempted to stir but the unnamed heavyweight picked up a second rail, held it above his head and swung it down upon The Pitbull. Caleb Crowe raced ecstatically to Davey Lane and demanded he announce that his new charge, the man known as Mean Machine Dean, has entered The Livewire as the tenth combatant. Referee Masa took one look at the towering man, by this point stood a hair's breadth away and called for the bell to start the match. Rating F

The Livewire - No.1 Contender for the F2B Underground Title

Toad Boy vs Shag Daniels vs Wayne Bruce vs Mark Graves vs Seth Graves vs XLN vs Buggy vs Tama vs Gibby Dillon vs Mean Machine Dean

There was a fraction of a second where nine men looked to the intruder in their midst and wondered how the hell they were going to shift 300lbs of muscle. All was still. Just a fraction. No one can swear with any degree of truth who threw the first punch but it was as if a bomb went off. All of a sudden bodies were flying everywhere and barbed wire tore into flesh with all the expected accompanying howls. Gibby Dillon was the first to be flung over, his gut snagging on a particularly sharp barb and scoring him open. Mark took claim for that elimination and quickly sent XLN packing. Buggy ducked Seth but caught a wicked clothesline from Mark - the Graves brother chalking off elimination #3 and dumping the Jukebox Hero over. Tama was disposed of by Mean Machine Dean and then a communication breakdown between the Graves Brothers saw Mark hit the wire full on, allowing Wayne Bruce to dart in and clatter him to the floor. Mark was incredulous with his brother but even more so when a moment later MMD press slammed Seth to the outside on top of him. This left Toad Boy, Wayne Bruce, Shag Daniels and MMD... All four tore at it and Daniels took a boot to the jaw and was quickly eliminated by Toad. Toad then took a heavy blow from the newcomer Dean and was flung into the barbs but held on. MMD set about beating on Wayne and sent him into the wire with a hiptoss. Mean Machine Dean and Toad Boy then fought for advantage at the corner, Dean the stronger winning the contest and forcing Toad over the ropes. From behind, exhausted, Wayne Bruce was able to tip them both over to win Fade 2 Black's first Livewire match. Rating D-

He shouted that he knew it was a hit orchestrated by Crowe to take him out of the Livewire match last month – and while he wasn't taking his eye off the title or the goon that wears it - he demanded to fight Mean Machine Dean! Crowe acted disinterested, telling Mitchell he's had his chance at the belt and MMD. While this exchange was going on neither man noticed 'Insane' Wayne Bruce slide from under the ring and drag out a long, cardboard box. Ripping the box open to reveal a fluorescent light tube, Wayne slid into the ring and stood directly behind Crowe. At Mitchell's glance Crowe spun and cowered as Wayne brandished the light tube threateningly. Trapped between an angry Pitbull and a psycho Wayne Bruce, Crowe dropped to his knees and begged for mercy. He was told the special addition to tonight's title match would be light tubes! Lots and lots of light tubes! To compound it, Mitchell then told him he would be facing the winner at the next event. Crowe acquiesced instantly. Light tubes were slammed upon, whipped into and, in one surreal moment, used as light sabres with the crowd providing the sound effects. The pièce de résistance though was the table in the centre of the ring, stacked with light tubes, cross hatched one on top of another. This had been built up by both men at different points throughout the match, each knowing that one of them was going to go through it. Sure enough, the ending came as, perched on the top turnbuckle, Wayne attempted to superplex Crowe. Crowe blocked the move and shoved The Insane One back and through the light tube structure! <span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="text-decoration:underline;">NEW PROTÉGÉ FOR PITBULL</span></span></p><p> </p><p>

News has come from our source that Gabe Mitchell has taken Mark Graves under his wing. Graves has been turning in some excellent performances in the Graves Brothers vs Toad Boy and Josh Garner feud and it has not gone unnoticed by the veteran Mitchell. The Pitbull is said to see something of himself in the young Graves and views Mark as one of the hardest working in the company. No doubt about it - big things appear to be on the horizon for Mark Graves.</p>

Trask dodged a dropkick from the second rope and hammered Buggy with his Pay Off Fisherman's Buster for the win. <strong>Rating E</strong></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Caleb%20Crowe_zpswfwntapu.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Gabe%20Mitchell_zpsm0bdl82d.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Gibby%20Dillon_zps9qqaphdv.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Caleb Crowe came out to the ring with his F2B Underground title, blowing on it and shining it. He took his time before address the crowd, admiring himself in the shine of the belt. When it looked as if he was poised to speak he returned to staring at the championship and clutching it close to his chest. This happened a further two times before Crowe dead-panned and told “all the fat, balding, stinking nerds of Auckland to get a close look at what an achiever is supposed to look like.” He continued in that vein, his barbed words clearly meant to draw out a certain Auckland native, and it didn't take long. The phrase “back-water, 'roach infested hell-hole” did the trick and The Pitbull almost tore the curtain clean off the rail. Gabe had come to fight but Caleb Crowe gleefully informed him that he had already had his title shot. Mitchell, bristling, suggested a rematch for 'Insane' Wayne Bruce (which drew luke-warm cheers from the audience) before Crowe, laughing, interrupted and said that he already had a championship bout set for tonight. Cue music – Foreigner played and a bashful, almost apologetic Gibby Dillon shuffled out. Straight off the bat Gibby tried to get Mitchell to take his place, saying he didn't want to stand in The Pitbull's way, but Gabe refused. “No son, but you just bought yourself one hell of a corner man.” <strong>Rating E</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41785" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Caleb%20Crowe_zpswfwntapu.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/VS3_zpslysyh9bt.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Gibby%20Dillon_zps9qqaphdv.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Gabe%20manager_zpsqoafzksf.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/F2B%20Underground_zpsq3qpfedp.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>F2B Underground Title</strong></p><p><strong> Caleb Crowe vs Gibby Dillon w/Gabe Mitchell</strong></p><p> Crowe smirked behind his sunglasses - the cocky champion who knows whatever strings he's had to pull, it's been worth it - defending the belt against a nervous rookie and baiting his rival at the same time. Result. Across from him, Gibby Dillon, spurred on by the shouting of Gabe Mitchell, thundered towards the champion. And so it was – the eager bull and the wily matador. Crowe took his time in this match because he knew he could. He evaded Gibby's offence easily and picked him apart with precise aim and wicked intentions. Purposefully making Gibby chase the fight, Crowe wore his heavy foe down. Each hold made it harder for Gibby to draw breath and gave Caleb the opportunity to berate Gabe Mitchell on the outside, goading him. Gibby had hardly thrown a punch before Crowe flattened him with a sidekick to the jaw. Rather than cover him though, Crowe began to strut around the ring, taking his time, beckoning to Mitchell. When he covered Gibby and put his feet on the ropes for leverage it was too much for Mitchell - Gabe stormed the ring and dropped Crowe with a hard right! Crowe DDT'd Gabe into the ramp and looked to leave him for dead only to signal that he wanted to send him off the stage. Glad to see you back, buddy! Shocked to see Shag Daniels out-hardcore Insane Wayne-- it's never a good idea to provoke someone who considers a steel chair his best friend, though. And Gabe Mitchell just beat the Champ! ...sure, it was via count-out, but whatever! Mitchell got a win over the Champion!

The finish came as Wayne dumped MMD over the top rope only for D-Man to then flatten him with the D-Manizer and wrap up the pin. <strong>Rating F+</strong></p><p> </p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Cameron%20Trask_zpsplrarq6z.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Gabe%20Mitchell_zpsm0bdl82d.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> Cameron Trask sauntered to the ring in his immaculate suit and demanded a microphone. In a broad Aussie accent he derided the fans in attendance as poor and lacking the basic understanding of male grooming and hygiene. He stopped to take out a fine silver cigar case. Selecting one, and removing it, Trask used a fifty dollar bill to light it - laughing as the fans witnessed this in near silence. Blowing smoke rings to the ceiling, he continued - </p><p> </p><p> <em>“Ever since I've had to step foot in this backwater, hick country I've been counting down the hours until I can leave. Coming from such a fine and cultured country as Australia, it is abhorrent to me to find myself in the land that time forgot. The great unwashed. A nation of sheep herders and pig farmers too stupid to realise how stupid they really are! The hangers-on... no... the parasites of Australia! You people make me want to puke! You're like the sick dog that everyone takes pity on, waiting for him to die, but no one has the guts to take him out back... If New Zealand were my dog I would- ” </em></p><p> </p><p> Cameron Trask didn't get the chance to complete his sentence as 'When The Levee Breaks' hit and a snarling Gabe 'The Pitbull' Mitchell strode to the ring. </p><p> </p><p> <em>“Trask, I think you're forgetting yourself. You've got yourself a match tonight and you've got ten seconds to get out of my ring. He began to talk about Seth Graves and their match up next but instead of Seth's music hitting it was Nirvana's 'Scentless Apprentice' and out strode Garner's tag partner Toad Boy. Toad explained that he has a shot at Caleb Crowe's Underground Title and he has to take it. Josh nodded and told him that he has a Thumbtacks Match with Seth Graves. He asked Toad for back up as where one Graves is the other is never far behind – <em>"I'll be turned into a human pin cushion!!"</em> Toad solemnly shook his head and told Josh he couldn't be in his corner tonight as he had to focus and prepare on his title shot. This caused a stir in the crowd and a few quiet boos could be heard. The two went face to face but in the end Josh agreed they'd fight their own battles and meet after. <strong>Rating E</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41785" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Seth%20Graves_zpsmzhb0ihi.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/VS3_zpslysyh9bt.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Josh%20Garner_zpssdm6vps3.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Thumbtacks Match</strong></p><p><strong> Seth Graves vs Josh 'The Piranha' Garner</strong></p><p> In the match of the night both men were on form and gave it their all – it began as a basic hardcore match with Josh looking agile and quicker than his foe. Seth soon turned the tide though and worked his opponent over with slams and strikes. It was Seth who introduced the thumbtacks (a first in Fade 2 Black) and scattered them liberally in the centre of the ring. Garner's nightmare came true as he tasted the tacks and became a pin cushion. Seth wanted to inflict more pain though and continued his assault. The finish came as Graves looked to powerbomb Josh off the top rope and onto the tacks but at the last minute The Piranha reversed it and sent to Seth to the thumbtacks with his Facebreaker! Both men lay in the middle of the ring, shining with metal as Josh draped an arm over to score the pin. <strong>Rating D</strong></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41785" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Gabe%20Mitchell_zpsm0bdl82d.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/VS3_zpslysyh9bt.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Cameron%20Trask_zpsplrarq6z.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>Gabe 'The Pitbull' Mitchell vs Cameron Trask</strong></p><p> Gabe Mitchell tore at Cameron Trask from the off. As confident as Trask had been earlier in the evening he fled from the New Zealand legend after taking one too many hard lefts. Trask bailed with The Pitbull in chase, Trask cutting him off as they both returned to the ring. Trask had some good periods of offence and made the most of it but he struggled to capture the crowd, particularly after the action of the previous match. Gabe soon fought back and levelled his foe with a wild haymaker and a running leg drop. He finished Trask with his signature piledriver for the win. <strong>Rating E+</strong></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="41785" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Caleb%20Crowe_zpswfwntapu.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/VS3_zpslysyh9bt.jpg</span><span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/Toad%20Boy_alt1_zpsvd9potqd.jpg</span><p> <span>http://i618.photobucket.com/albums/tt264/Madras33/F2B/F2B%20Underground_zpsq3qpfedp.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>F2B Underground Title</strong></p><p><strong> Caleb Crowe vs Toad Boy</strong></p><p> Another bout that suffered. Toad Boy looked to seize the opportunity but Crowe seemed unwilling to match him and a little off his game. The bout wasn't poor but it wasn't fitting of a main event title defence. The two put together some nice spots and Toad caught Crowe in a nice cradle from nowhere for a believable near fall. It only really hotted up though as Crowe kicked Toad to the outside and Mean Machine Dean ran to ringside. MMD laid the boots to Toad Boy but was then jumped on from behind by Josh Garner! Garner clawed at MMD and tried to wrap a hold around his big neck. Caleb Crowe then joined the fray and all four men fought at ringside. As if that wasn't enough The Graves Brothers then showed up and fought not only with Toad and Garner but Crowe and Dean! The referee gave up trying to bring the match to order and called for a no contest. The fans were not pleased with the ruling. <strong>Rating E</strong></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Show Rating E</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p>
