Chapter 6 Interlude: Tamara's Humiliation

Eight months earlier…

October 2, 2015

Lowe Ballroom – Seattle, Washington

http://i.imgur.com/EY4sx2r.jpg

Catherine Quine stands in the middle of a brightly lit ring, a smile beaming across her slightly wrinkled face. The crowd of 3,000 roars as the new owner of the Angel Athletic Association lifts a microphone to her mouth. “Thank you, thank you. You all are really too kind,” the crowd cheers louder as Catherine tries to act as humbly as she can. “As most of you may have heard, Anne Stardust has decided to retire and I have bought AAA from her. Now I will not only be the voice of Women’s wrestling, but I will be running it too.”

The audience gives another round of applause as Catherine’s face subtly begins to change, “But there’s something you all don’t know that I can’t wait to share. Last week, AAA bought out those bankrupt whores of Las Vegas,” the crowd cheers but not as enthusiastically as AAA will later edit the video to make it seem. “That’s right, I’ve bought my competition. No longer will any woman have to suffer the indignation of a lingerie match or the humiliation of a bikini contest. Now there is only room for the pure art form that is AAA!” Catherine, with arms outstretched, can’t help but show her disappointment at the tepid reaction her proclamation has received.

The new owner of AAA gathers herself before continuing, “Ehem, tonight you will see some new faces and some old ones that have found their way back to us. But there’s one person in particular I’m especially excited to see, so let’s not wait any longer…Tamara McFly, come on down.”

http://i.imgur.com/Sn1eoo3.jpg

After an awkward moment of silence, Tamara appears from backstage to some cheers from the crowd. Dressed in street clothes and with a look of confusion on her face, Tamara walks down the ramp and towards the ring. “Come on Tamara, hurry up, don’t dawdle,” Catherine motions to Tamara to join her. Once in the ring, a young production assistant hands Tamara a microphone as Catherine gestures towards the crowd, “Tamara, say something to the people.”

“Hi everyb…”

“You see everyone, many, many years ago, Tamara was the hottest free agent on the market. She had an offer from me and an offer from a now-defunct company that will remain nameless.”

“Catherine, I don’t see how that is relev…”

“Unfortunately, for Tamara here, she made the wrong choice,” Catherine’s voice drops an octave as her face turns into a contorted scowl.

Tamara’s eyes dart back and forth between the crowd and the woman standing in front of her. Instinctively, Tamara starts to back away from Catherine.

“Oh, don’t worry Tamara, it’s nothing personal. I just need…a show of loyalty. We do have a big roster now, and there are going to have to be some cuts after all. I’d hate for one of them to be you,” a devious smile comes across Catherine’s face as a few staffers appear at the top of the ramp and then roll a covered table towards the ring.

“What is this Catherine?” Tamara’s voice is near a whisper as worry spreads across her face.

“Let’s call it a demonstration,” Catherine moves towards Tamara as the staffers lift the table into the ring, “now get on your knees.” The crowd murmurs as Tamara’s face conveys her internal struggle. Catherine senses Tamara’s hesitation and moves towards her until the two women are nose-to-nose, “I said get on your knees!”

Tamara’s body seems to pull in two different directions as she remains rooted to the same spot. “Come on Tamara, I know you need this job. I know all about your money problems. How after a 20-year career, you have nothing in the bank, nothing to show for it. Always paying your own way to Japan, doting on your niece whenever you get the chance, spending what you’ve earned like there’s no tomorrow. Isn’t that right Tamara?”

A look of resignation comes over Tamara's face and the former NOTBPW Womens champion complies with Catherine’s order.

“That’s more like it,” Catherine pulls the cover off of the table to reveal three large red buckets. “You see Tamara, there’s something you need to learn. When you hang out with pigs, you’re going to get dirty.” To the audible gasps of the audience, Catherine picks up one of the buckets and pours its dark brown contents onto the woman kneeling in front of her.

Tamara is instantly covered from head to toe, and while the liquid has the consistency of mud, its smell indicates that is something quite different.

Catherine picks up another bucket and dumps more humiliation onto Tamara, “Now roll around in your filth like the pig you are!” Tamara, as if in a trance, begins rolling back and forth in the foul-smelling liquid, “Oink for me piggy, let me hear you squeal!”

“Oink…oink oink…oink,” the crowd of 3,000 is completely silent as Tamara appears near tears.

“Sooie piggy, soooiiiieee!” Catherine picks up the last bucket and makes sure every last drop of its contents gets on Tamara before tossing the red plastic to the side. The owner of AAA slips off her right shoe and sticks her foot in front of Tamara’s face, “Now kiss my foot!”

Tamara looks up at Catherine with her eyes full of tears, but then she leans down and places her lips on Quine’s foot.

“That’s right, now beg for your job! Beg!!!”

The brown liquid drips from Tamara’s hair and face onto Catherine’s foot as she whispers, “Please don’t fire me...”

“They can’t hear you Tamara, louder!”

“Please don’t fire me!” Tamara manages to scream at the top of her lungs as the audience remains silent.

“That’s right,” Catherine, her eyes burning with revenge, shoves her liquid-covered toes into Tamara’s mouth, “now again!”

Tamara gags out an indecipherable string of words before Catherine leans over and pushes McFly down to the mat.

“Tamara, I have one more thing to say to you…YOU’RE FIRED!!!”

Chapter 6: Bitter Harvest

Pre-Show Dark Match: Doll Parts vs Glorious Gloria and Velvet Suarez

http://i.imgur.com/WJmMHx8.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/9odiyrV.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/piZUmbD.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/YNQZbsf.jpg

Fresh off their upset win last month, Maria and Simony carry Gloria and Velvet to a decent match. Doll Parts dominate the action, with Maria emphasizing technical moves and Simony hitting her high spots.

Towards the end of the match, Maria is facing off against Gloria. As Maria lands a series of chops on the former bodybuilder, the crowd chants for Simony. Guest seems slightly thrown off by the audience preferring her tag team partner, and this only gets worse when the crowd boos each subsequent move Maria hits on Gloria.

Maria goes off script and tags in Simony to cheers from the crowd, causing Sentinel to act embarrassed by the love she is receiving from the audience. Simony hits a hurricanrana on Gloria and tags Maria back in to boos from the crowd. Guest holds Gloria across her knees, and Simony goes to the top rope to hit Live Through This (leg drop). Maria covers Gloria and gets the pin.

With a determined look on her face, Kate ignores the torrent of boos coming from the crowd as she makes her way to the ring.

“Most of you probably think I’m pretty pissed off about what happened last month, huh?” the crowd taunts Hell Cat over her loss as Kate shakes her head, “Well I’m not! I will have my revenge because tonight I face Tamara McFly in the last match of her career. In this very ring, we will tear each other apart for the honor of holding this title,” Kate lifts up the Queen of the Ring belt to a mix of cheers and boos from the crowd. “This will be the first ever Iron Maiden match, which means we will fight and we will bleed for thirty straight minutes. And when that time is up, I will have the most falls and I will be the winner!”

The crowd boos this proclamation before Kate continues, “But I have a surprise for you Tammy. This is my ring and I make the rules. Our match tonight…is no disqualifications.” Kate smiles and lets out a laugh as the audience lustily boos her announcement and its implications. “Yeah, I mean I can’t help it if Deborah Young comes into this ring during the match and powerbombs poor Tammy over and over again.”

Hell Cat continues to laugh as the crowd voices their displeasure, “But that’s not all. Tonight, me and Tammy will not only tear each other apart, but we are going to tear apart this whole bar because tonight is the last night Dark Phoenix Wrestling will ever take place in this hell hole! Next show, we are moving up to Piper Casino and hopefully I will never see any of you entitled, ungrateful assholes ever again!”

Kate leaves the ring to a chorus of boos with a smile still plastered across her face.

Match #1: Amy Galaxy vs Claire Winters – Loser Leaves Town Ladder Match

http://i.imgur.com/uIOY5sq.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/1OjidHr.jpg

A contract hangs from a rafter above the ring as the two competitors engage in a stare down. Claire asks Amy how her eye is, which sends Galaxy into a rage. With fists flying, Winters and Galaxy spill to the outside. Claire picks up one of the ladders off of the bar floor and slams the aluminum into Amy’s face.

The action eventually makes its way back into the ring, with Amy and Claire trading blows. Once a ladder is set up in the middle of the ring, both wrestlers tease grabbing the contract before ultimately being foiled.

The highlight of the match comes with Claire and Amy fighting at the top of the ladder. With Winters stunned, Galaxy grabs the Ice Woman around the head and jumps, hitting the Time Wrap DDT from a height of eight feet.

As the crowd chants “Holy Shit!”, Claire rolls out of the ring while Amy recovers. Galaxy gets to her feet first and slowly begins climbing up the rungs of the ladder. Just when Amy is fingertips away from grabbing the contract, Claire rushes into the ring with a steel chair. One swing to the back of Galaxy causes Amy to drop back down to the mat.

The Girl from the 22nd Century staggers, creating an opening for Claire to hit a vicious spinning heel kick that sends Amy flying out of the ring. With her competition vanquished, Winters climbs to the top of the ladder and rips the contract from the rafters.

Winner and Still Employed: Claire Winters

As the referee checks on Amy, Claire climbs down from the ladder with the prop contract in her hands.

“Get her ass out of here! She’s done!” Winters screams at the referee as he helps Galaxy to her feet. Claire continues shouting a stream of obscenities at Amy, but the dazed Girl from the 22nd Century can not hear them as she is guided out of the bar.

Tamara appears from behind the curtain with a wistful smile on her face. She gives members of the audience high-fives as Kate stands in the ring, enraged at having her catchphrase interrupted.

Tamara stops short of entering the ring to address Kate, “Hell Cat, I know you think you’ve outsmarted everyone by making our match no disqualification. That your henchwoman will just be able to run in and help you cheat to keep your title.” Tamara pauses for the boos from the crowd, “But this is my last match, and I've been screwed over one too many times in my career, so I can’t let that happen…Mickey, lock the doors.” The crowd cheers as the bartender walks over to the front door and locks it, then signals to a security guard standing in the back to close the emergency exit.

Kate yells at Mickey that he can forget about her paying her bar tab as Tamara enters the ring.

Main Event: Kate Avatar vs Tamara McFly – 30 Iron Maiden Match for the DPW Queen of the Ring Title

http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/Sn1eoo3.jpg

A digital clock attached to the wall above the ring begins ticking down from 30:00 as Kate and Tamara lock up. The two wrestlers trade chops to the chest that ring throughout the bar before Kate gets the upper hand and hits Tamara with a DDT.

Hell Cat controls most of the early action, with Tamara showing her age in some spots. With Tamara unable to lift Kate up for the McFly Roll, Hell Cat counters with a German suplex of her own. Tamara is able to kick out at the count of two and then takes the fight to Kate, landing a series of strikes to her opponent’s head and body.

With the clock nearing 20:00, Tamara bounces off the ropes and attempts a clothesline, but Kate ducks under McFly’s arm. Hell Cat turns around and, catching Tamara on the rebound, hits McFly with a spinebuster in the middle of the ring. Kate quickly flips Tamara over and locks in Hell Cat’s Cradle. Tamara struggles with all her might trying to get to the ropes, but then decides that it would be smarter to conserve her energy and taps out.

1 - 0

The two wrestlers spend the next five minutes recreating moments from Tamara’s 30-minute match with Sensational Ogiwara, including Kate locking up Tamara for a rope-hung Boston Crab. Tamara refuses to tap out this time and eventually Kate tires before letting Tamara fall to the bar floor.

Hell Cat tracks McFly as Tamara recovers on the outside. Tamara reaches one of the corners and Kate leans over the ring post to talk trash at her opponent. McFly takes the opportunity and pulls Kate down to the mat by her feet. Dragging Kate to the corner, Tamara slaps a figure-four leglock onto Hell Cat, using the ring post for leverage.

Kate screams out in pain, but does not tap out. With blood rushing to her head, Tamara can not keep the hold on for any longer and relinquishes. Hell Cat sells knee pain as McFly slides back into the ring, but Tamara is stunned as Kate jumps up and hits her with the Dark Phoenix Driver. With both wrestlers down on the mat, Hell Cat inches over to Tamara and slings her arm across McFly’s chest. 1 – 2 – but Tamara kicks out.

Instead of keeping the pressure on Tamara, Kate complains to the referee about his mathematical abilities. Tamara manages to get to her feet and grabs Hell Cat around the waist before hitting the McFly Roll on Kate. Unlike in her match against Ogiwara, Tamara is able to hold onto Hell Cat after the third German suplex and the referee counts 1 – 2 – 3 for the pin.

1 – 1

Kate gets back to her feet and screams, realizing she has just been pinned. Hell Cat looks up at the clock and sees that a little over nine minutes remain in the match. Pointing at Tamara, Kate reminds McFly that the title will not change hands in the event of a draw. In line with her statement, Hell Cat attempts to keep McFly at bay at every subsequent turn.

Tamara quickly grows tired of Kate’s stalling tactics and mounts a vicious offensive. The two wrestlers take the fight out of the ring and into the crowd. Kate grabs a hand drawn “Go to Hell” sign from a member of the audience and hits Tamara over the head with it. Unfazed, Tamara takes a cellphone from someone in the crowd and slams it into Kate’s face. Kate rises to her feet while a slight trickle of blood runs down her face.

Hell Cat touches her forehead and looks at her hand. The sight of her own blood sends Kate into a rage and the two wrestlers fight from one side of the bar to the other. The referee refuses to start the ten count as a double count-out would be meaningless to the final score of this match.

Tamara and Kate fight among the bar stools as the clock nears two minutes left. Kate tries to use one of the stools as a weapon, but McFly stops her with a right hand. With both wrestlers near exhaustion, Kate clotheslines Tamara onto the bar. Hell Cat climbs on top of the wood and tries to pick McFly up for the Dark Phoenix Driver, but Tamara blocks her. Tamara then suplexes Kate into the shelves behind the bar. Kate crashes to the floor and the bottles of alcohol fall onto her prone body one by one.

Tamara looks up at the clock and sees there are 25 seconds left. McFly uses her last bit of energy to sprint to the ring. Once Tamara is through the ropes, the referee begins the ten count.

Winner by a Score of 2 – 1 and New DPW Queen of the Ring: Tamara McFly

Match Rating: D-

With Tamara still on her knees and sweating heavily, the referee walks over to her and lifts her arm up in victory. He then hands Tamara the Queen of the Ring title and that is when the tears start to flow down McFly’s face.

“Thank you Tamara…thank you Tamara!” the crowd chants as Kate remains knocked out behind the bar.

Tamara cradles the belt in her arms as if it were her firstborn child. After giving the title several kisses, she looks up at the crowd. Tamara smile beams as she takes in the adulation, and still seated, she holds up the Queen of the Ring title to a roar from the audience.

After wiping the tears away from her eyes, Tamara unlaces her boots before taking them off. Standing up, she places her gear in the middle of the ring and watches her twenty-year career flash before her eyes. Tamara then kisses the Queen of the Ring title one more time before placing it down in front of her boots. With one more long look at the cheering crowd, the Dark Phoenix heads out a the ring for the last time and into the night.

Chapter 7 Interlude: Back in the Saddle

http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/uIOY5sq.jpg

Kate Avatar sits across from Amy Galaxy in a small back office of Piper Casino. Large white sheets of paper, with various booking paths scribbled on them, cover the walls as the two women eat a quiet dinner of spaghetti.

The move from Mickey’s bar had been a relatively easy one and Kate settled into BSC’s old headquarters quickly. The workers at the casino had even found some of BSC’s old equipment buried under worn-out blackjack tables in a backroom storage area. Kate knew that with a little cleaning up and paint, no one would be able to tell that these ring aprons and props had ever belonged to Babes of Sin City, and what the bankruptcy court didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them.

While Kate had been focusing on DPW, the wrestling world, at least the small part of it that pays attention to female wrestlers, had been sent buzzing after NOTBPW signed away two of AAA top stars, Sara Marie York and Jaime Quine. In Kate’s mind, the news was the best of both worlds; Catherine Quine would be hurt by having to hotshot two title changes and NOTBPW would eventually have to release one or two women from the company’s roster in order to stay on budget. The real challenge, Kate felt, would be convincing one of those released wrestlers to take a chance on Dark Phoenix Wrestling.

“Kate, we need to talk about DPW’s finances,” Amy voice, tinged with concern, snaps Kate back to reality.

“What about it?” Kate says in between bites of noodles.

“We lost another $779 last month after losing $2,224 in May. At this point, DPW only has $3,635 left in the bank,” Amy holds up the promotion’s most recent bank statement for emphasis.

“Look Amy, this recession has really kicked the shit out of us…but we’ll be okay. Traffic on our website set a record this past week because of the Tamara retirement match.”

“Kate, you need to be realistic. At this rate, with the roster we have, we’ll be out of business by the end of the year. Moving here doesn’t help,” Amy motions to the drab surroundings with a look of disgust on her face.

“Come on, this is a pretty good deal. For only an extra $200 per show, we get an entrance ramp, a better sound system, and an actual locker room.”

“Yes, but that extra $200 per show means $1,200 less in our bank account to start next year.”

“Do you have a point Amy?” Kate goes back to eating her spaghetti while Amy shifts in her seat.

“The way I see it, we have two options. One, we let some people go…”

“We’re not firing anyone.”

“I thought you’d say that Kate,” Amy gives a half-smile before continuing, “our other option is to stop running shows every month.”

“Wait, what?!”

Amy’s smile grows as she leans forward in her chair, “Think about it, now that we have our sponsors sign contracts they can’t back out of, we get money every month whether we put on a show or not. If we just go from putting on events every four weeks to every six weeks, we’ll only have eight shows per year instead of twelve. That means we only have eight shows’ worth of costs, but still twelve months’ worth of revenue.”

“Huh…that’s actually kind of brilliant,” Kate gets up from her chair and walks over to the large sheet of paper labelled ‘July Show.’

“Thanks, I try,” Amy chews on a bite of garlic bread as she watches Kate tear up the booking plans for the month.

“So we cancel ‘Red, White & Screwed,’ and shift everything to the Venus Tournament in August,” Kate lets the ripped pieces of paper fall to the floor before moving in front of the sheet marked ‘Venus.’

“Exactly, and if we’re lucky, we’ll basically break even for the rest of the year.”

Kate goes into a near trance as the new booking possibilities unfold in her mind, “Alright, let’s figure out what the hell we are going to do for this tournament then…”

Chapter 7: Venus in Ascendant

Venus Tournament

Saturday, Week 1, August 2016

Live from Piper Casino

Piper Casino sits only a half-mile off the Las Vegas Strip, but it might as well be in another world. Situated near the intersection of Saraha and Maryland Parkway, the run-down neighborhood the casino inhabits is populated mostly by meth-heads and crack addicts. Not known for its gaming area, the casino’s main claims to fame are its relatively large burlesque theater and a $4.99 spaghetti dinner special that comes with garlic bread.

And this is where Dark Phoenix Wrestling will now call home.

Pre-Show Tournament Qualifier #1: Natalie DiMarco vs Velvet Suarez

http://i.imgur.com/oMX9Z9a.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/YNQZbsf.jpg

While the crowd files in, Velvet and Natalie kick off the first ever Venus tournament with a forgettable match. The two wrestlers actually try their hardest to put on a good show, but constant botched calls from referee Gregory Chapman mar the action.

Seven minutes in, Velvet hits her Purple Haze Moonsault and covers Natalie for the pin.

Winner via Pinfall and Advancing to the Quarterfinals: Velvet Suarez

Match Rating: F+

Pre-Show Qualifier #2: Ariel Breaks vs Glorious Gloria

http://i.imgur.com/FOATvSe.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/piZUmbD.jpg

Ariel does her best to carry Gloria to a decent match, but the former bodybuilder can’t seem to stay out of her own way. After Gloria forgets to hit a body slam on Ariel, Breaks decides she has had enough and signals for the finishing sequence. An Ariel Spiral later, Breaks gets the pin and moves on to the quarterfinals.

Winner via Pinfall and Advancing to the Quarterfinals: Ariel Breaks

Show Opening:

http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpg

Kate Avatar walks out onto the stage as “

” blasts over the theater’s sound system. Hell Cat heads down the ramp and towards the ring, looking over the sparse crowd. With the dining tables removed and replaced by folding chairs, the reconfigured set-up can seat 300, but only around 40 people have shown up tonight.

Kate enters the ring and is handed a microphone by a casino staff member, “Well well well, if it isn’t Piper Casino,” Hell Cat motions to the corners of the theater as if reminiscing. “Over six and a half years ago, I made my debut here, and let me tell you…this place is still a piece of shit!” The crowd boos as Kate bends over in laughter.

“Oh, you’re really too kind,” Kate emphasizes her sarcasm to elicit more boos. “The only reason I’ve bothered to interrupt my preparations for my match is to let you morons know that you are all about to witness something truly amazing. Not only will the winner of the tonight’s tournament become the first ever Venus Champion, but that person will also be awarded the vacant DPW Queen of the Ring title that Tamara McFly stole from me!” The crowd cheers the mention of Tamara’s name, which Kate responds to with a scowl.

“Make no mistake, the only person who has a chance of winning this tournament is standing in this ring right now. I will defeat that nothing Sandra Shine and then I will win in the semifinals. Deborah Young will destroy everyone she faces and when we meet in the finals, my acolyte will lie down for me. I will be Queen of the Ring AGAIN!”

Kate drops the mic as Smashing Pumpkins’ “Where Boys Fear to Tread” begins playing to signal Deborah’s entrance.

“I serve only one…” Deborah intones as Kate passes her on the ramp.

Quarterfinal #1: Deborah Young vs Maria Guest

http://i.imgur.com/FDrUdvi.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/WJmMHx8.jpg

With Simony Sentinel cheering her on from ringside, Maria does her best not to be intimidated by Young’s size. Guest is able to get the figure-four leglock on Deborah at one point, but Young easily drags herself and Maria to the ropes to force a break. As the Violent Violet looks on, Deborah hits the Devastator on Maria for the win.

Winner via Pinfall and Advancing to the Semifinals: Deborah Young

Match Rating: E+

Deborah refuses to let the referee hold her arm up in victory and as she heads out of the ring, Young stares intently at Sentinel.

http://i.imgur.com/9odiyrV.jpg

Holding a microphone, Simony enters the ring to help Maria to her feet. Propping up her tag team partner, the Violent Violet turns to address Young, “Deborah, you think you’re so tough. Well…tonight I am going to win the Queen of the Ring title,” Sentinel sells being unsure of her words at first before gaining confidence as she continues to talk. “I don’t care if I have to face you, Kate, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Wonder Woman, I’ll beat them all!”

The crowd cheers Simony’s words before “

Quarterfinal #2: Simony Sentinel vs Velvet Suarez

http://i.imgur.com/9odiyrV.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/YNQZbsf.jpg

In clash of the purple spectrum, the Violent Violet easily dominates Velvet. Simony plays to the crowd throughout before finally hitting the Sentinel Strike on Suarez for the pin.

Winner via Pinfall and Advancing to the Semifinals: Simony Sentinel

Match Rating: E

Simony celebrates her victory with a limping Maria Guest in the ring before heading up the ramp. Halfway to the stage, the first strains of “

” begin playing. Kate meets Doll Parts at the top of the ramp and engages in a staredown with Simony. With a smirk on her face, Hell Cat heads to the ring as Sentinel and Guest disappear backstage.

Segment Rating: D-

Quarterfinal #3: Kate Avatar vs Sandra Shine

http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/kq95o5v.jpg

Kate puts on a clinic, having her way with Sandra at every turn. Hell Cat even takes a few opportunities to slap Shine in the face, yelling “Do you know how lucky you are to be in the ring with me?!” at the small blonde.

With Sandra battered and bruised, Kate locks in Hell’s Cat Cradle, forcing Shine to tap out.

Winner via Submission and Advancing to the Semifinals: Kate Avatar

Match Rating: D-

Kate mocks tears at the booing crowd as the referee holds her arm up in victory. Hell Cat scans the audience for familiar faces from Mickey’s bar, and finding a few, makes sure to taunt them mercilessly.

“One down, two to go!” Kate yells so the entire crowd can hear her without the aid of a microphone.

Segment Rating B-

Quarterfinal #4: Ariel Breaks vs Claire Winters

http://i.imgur.com/FOATvSe.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/1OjidHr.jpg

An even contest from the outset, with Ariel appearing no worse for wear at having already fought once tonight. Every time Claire starts gaining some momentum, Breaks cuts Winters off and takes her down to the mat with various submission holds.

Frustrated, Claire goes over to one of the corners and takes the cover off of the top turnbuckle. The Ice Woman tries to whip Breaks into the exposed steel, but Ariel counters. Claire’s back slams into the corner and Ariel turns Winters around to hit Breakerfall. Ariel keeps her arms around Winters’ waist, and with Claire’s shoulders down on the mat, the referee counts 1 – 2 – 3 for the pin.

Winner via Pinfall and Advancing to the Semifinals: Ariel Breaks

Match Rating: E

Ariel only gets a few moments to celebrate her victory, as a furious Claire connects hit a spinning heel kick to the back of Breaks’ head. The Ice Woman drags Ariel’s limp body to the corner and proceeds to slam Breaks’ face into the exposed turnbuckle over and over again. With blood streaming from Ariel’s forehead, Claire locks in the Ice Breaker and torques her victim’s arm at an unnatural angle.

Satisfied that she has inflicted enough pain for one night, Winters leaves the ring to boos from the crowd. Ariel remains motionless in a bloody heap in the middle of the ring.

As the crowd boos, Kate walks towards the ring, “Ariel, I know you’re not feeling all that great at the moment, but since we’re both out here, I’ve decided our semifinal match should take place right...now!”

Semifinal #1: Ariel Breaks vs Kate Avatar

http://i.imgur.com/FOATvSe.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpg

Kate immediately goes for the Dark Phoenix Driver, but Ariel summons enough energy to slip out of the hold. Wearing a mask of blood, Breaks does her best to fight against Kate’s ensuing onslaught.

Displaying good chemistry, the two wrestlers get the crowd buzzing with back and forth action. The audience chants for Ariel, hoping against logic that Breaks will pull off the upset, even as she staggers around the ring, selling the effects of Claire’s attack.

Kate tries to hit a clothesline after bouncing off the ropes, but Ariel ducks under her arm and then grabs Hell Cat around the waist. The crowd erupts as Ariel hits Breakerfall on Kate and goes to the top rope to finish Hell Cat off with an Ariel Spiral…but Kate gets her knees up just in time.

Hell Cat is the first one on her feet and picks up Ariel off of the mat. The crowd boos as Kate hits the Dark Phoenix Driver and gets the pin.

Deborah Young passes Kate Avatar on the stage and the Bad Sisters Club nod at one another. Once Young is in the ring, a casino staffer tries to hand Deborah a microphone, but the 245-pound woman just picks the large man up and holds him over her head. Deborah roars as she shows her power, but the crowd does not seem that impressed.

Semifinal #2: Deborah Young vs Simony Sentinel

http://i.imgur.com/FDrUdvi.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/9odiyrV.jpg

The crowd is firmly behind Simony as she resolutely stares up at Deborah. Young appears to give a slight smile in appreciation of Sentinel’s foolish bravery before clubbing the Violent Violet across the back.

As the match devolves into a wild brawl, the two wrestlers are able to keep the audience engaged without burning them out. Simony concentrates on Deborah’s legs in an attempt at cutting down the large woman. Young, perhaps too overconfident, is content to throw Sentinel around the ring without ever going for a serious pin attempt.

Near the ten-minute mark, Simony continues to target Deborah’s knees with sharp kicks. Young roars in a signal that she has had enough. Deborah pops Sentinel with a right hand, sending the Violent Violet staggering backwards.

Young grabs Simony and lifts her up for the Devastator. Sentinel refuses to give up the fight, scratching and clawing at Deborah’s face. Just when Simony is at her apex in the air, Young’s weakened legs buckle. The Violent Violet gives a quick elbow to Deborah’s head and Young topples backward with Sentinel on top of her.

Sitting on Deborah’s chest, Simony reaches back and hooks Young’s leg. As the crowd cheers, Simony gets the pin to advance to the finals.

Winner via Pinfall and Advancing to the Finals: Simony Sentinel

Match Rating: E

Enraged at her loss, Deborah grabs Simony by the hair and lifts Sentinel up for a powerbomb. Maria runs down the ramp and into the ring, punching Young until the 245-pound woman is finally forced to let go of the Violent Violet. With Simony recovering on the mat, Deborah turns her attention to Guest and hits Maria with the Devastator. As Young gets up, Sentinel lands a dropkick that sends Deborah out of the ring.

Simony helps Guest get to her feet as Deborah stares at the tag team from the theater floor.

Kate’s music plays to bring out the other half of the Venus Tournament Final. “Not bad, Simony. Not bad,” Kate walks slowly down the ramp with a microphone in her right hand as the crowd hisses and boos, “But I’ve beat you before, and I will beat you again. For all of your supposed fans here, you are just a blip on the road to me reclaiming what is rightfully mine.”

Now standing next to Deborah, Hell Cat takes in a deep breath, “My name is Kate Avatar and you can all go to hell!”

Tournament Finals: Kate Avatar vs Simony Sentinel for the DPW Queen of the Ring title and Venus Champion Trophy

http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/9odiyrV.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/dw8jdk2.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/Vy2t5NB.jpg

The referee holds up the Queen of the Ring title before calling for the bell. Maria and Deborah remain on opposite sides of the ring as Kate and Simony lock up.

The crowd does not buy that Simony stands a chance of winning at first, but begins to believe after a series of near falls. The chants for Sentinel rise and rise as the two wrestlers display the great chemistry that was the hallmark of their previous battle.

For fifteen minutes, Kate and Simony battle, telling a story with the action as they build to the finish. Sentinel counters Hell Cat’s attempt at a suplex with a DDT. With Kate down on the mat, Simony jumps up to the top rope and signals for the Sentinel Strike.

Right before Simony is about to leap, Deborah jumps up on to the ring apron. The Violent Violet is distracted for only a moment, but it is enough for Kate to recover and throw down Sentinel from her perch. As the crowd deflates, Hell Cat hits the Dark Phoenix Driver on Simony and goes for the pin.

1…

2…

…but Simony kicks out!

The crowd pops as some in the front row jump up and down in unbridled excitement. Kate pounds the mat with both hands and lets out a primal scream. Simony staggers to her feet, but Hell Cat sends both wrestlers tumbling out of the ring with a wild clothesline.

As Kate and Simony recover on the theater floor, Deborah lumbers over to Sentinel. Maria, sensing the danger her tag team partner is in, sprints to the scene and gives Young a dropkick to the back. Deborah stumbles forward, running into a rising Kate. As Hell Cat drops back to the floor, Young slowly turns around and locks in on Maria. Guest looks from side to side for an escape route and takes off into the crowd. Deborah follows in close pursuit, leaving Simony and Kate alone on the theater floor.

Hell Cat gets to her feet first and slides into the ring as the referee's count hits 8. The crowd pleads for Simony to get up as the referee counts 9. Just when it appears she is going to be counted out, the Violent Violet stands up and rolls into the ring.

The two wrestlers continue to battle for another five minutes with neither woman able to get the upper hand. Simony and Kate both show exhaustion as they slug it out in the middle of the ring.

In the exchange, Hell Cat manages to poke Simony in the eye without the referee seeing. Kate picks up Sentinel for the Dark Phoenix Driver, but Simony counters, using Hell Cat’s shoulders as a launching pad, pushing off with her legs and flipping backwards.

With Kate bent over at the waist and the crowd at a fever pitch, Simony bounces off of the ropes and hits Hell Cat with a leg-drop bulldog she will later dub ‘UltraViolet.’

Simony covers Kate and the referee counts...

Claire Winters vs Natalie DiMarco - for a bump and grind promotion she has more utility

Maria Guest vs Velvet Suarez -honestly, I have no clue

Ariel Breaks vs Glorious Gloria - You appear to like her

Deborah Young vs Sandra Shine - You need a face to win, but Sandra is too much of a locker room poison to push hard with a small roster

Kate Avatar vs Simony Sentinel for the DPW Queen of the Ring title - Makes no sense to drop it to Kate the month after winning

Chapter 8 Interlude: Loose Slots Sink Ships

Warning: The following interlude contains salty language and questionable pseudo-political commentary that may offend some people. Reader discretion is advised.

http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpg

In DPW’s small office deep in the bowels of Piper Casino, Kate Avatar sits alone in front of her computer, typing away as the hours tick down to Heat Check. The last six weeks had dragged by slowly, but Amy’s tactic worked as the promotion’s bank account now stood at nearly $5,000.

The time since the Venus tournament had not been completely uneventful. After Simony’s title win, Catherine Quine had immediately knocked Sentinel down to an enhancement talent at AAA. When Kate Lily questioned this decision to Cherry Bomb, the head booker of AAA fired the long-time member of the company’s tag-team scene on the spot. Hell Cat thought about bringing Lily in to give a shoot interview, but at $900 per appearance, DPW could not afford the cost, even if it meant embarrassing Catherine Quine.

In mid-July, QAW hired Maria, reuniting Guest with her mentor and owner of the promotion, Farrah Hesketh. Kate had actually been thrilled by this development, because it meant Maria would get more match experience and hopefully form friendships with members of QAW’s roster that could be exploited later on.

Velvet Suarez had even made a contribution, recommending her long-time foe on the Mexican independent scene, Ursula Saez, for a spot on DPW’s roster. Kate did not know much about the “Mayan Mauler,” but the videos of Ursula’s matches had impressed Hell Cat enough to offer Saez a tryout match tonight.

http://i.imgur.com/FOATvSe.jpg

“What the hell is this?!” Ariel Breaks bursts through the office door and slams a flyer down on Kate’s desk.

Kate holds up the yellowed piece of paper to see an image of herself, Simony, Maria, Claire and Ariel under the headline “Piper Casino has the Loosest Slots in Town!”

“Loose slots? Loose slots!” Ariel’s face reddens as she paces back and forth in the office.

“Ariel, really this is no big deal.”

“No big deal?! Kate, this is the kind of bull…pucky that kept me from ever signing with BSC. I’m not some whore, I’m a wrestler…gosh darn it!”

“I appreciate that Ariel, but…”

http://i.imgur.com/uIOY5sq.jpg

Suddenly, an out-of-breath Amy Galaxy runs in to the office, “Kate, you’re needed in the locker room…they’re going to kill each other.”

“What?! Who?” Kate looks away from Ariel and at Galaxy.

“All of them…” Amy bends over to take in a deep breath as Kate moves to head out of the office.

“Kate, what about this?” Ariel holds up the flyer, her voice still full of indignation.

Kate looks over her shoulder as she continues to walk forward, “Look, Ariel. I’ll make this up to you, okay? Just…chill out.”

Now alone in the office, Ariel lets the flyer fall from her hand. “Chill out? I am the definition of chill,” Breaks mutters to herself.

Kate and Amy quickly reach DPW’s locker room, only to find it in chaos. In one corner of the room, Velvet is keeping an enraged Ursula from assaulting a terrified Sandra Shine. In another corner, Maria and her guest from QAW, Erin Lawrence, berate an uninterested Deborah Young. Both of these scenes swirl around the rest of the roster yelling at Glorious Gloria, who is on the verge of tears.

“What the hell is going on in here!!!” Kate yells at the top of her lungs, immediately drawing all the attention to herself. The resulting silence only lasts for moment as everyone begins talking over one another to tell their side of the story first.

“Puta!”

“We're just trying to help you!”

“Not funny!”

“Hey, one at time, okay? Velvet, why does your friend look like she wants to decapitate Sandra?”

http://i.imgur.com/x5SF8WV.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/YNQZbsf.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/kq95o5v.jpg

A stream of Spanish comes from Ursula’s lips as the Mayan Mauler lunges at Sandra again, only to be held back by Suarez, “That dumb girl thought it would be funny to put a ‘Donald Trump for President’ sticker on Ursula’s bag, and well, yeah.” Velvet manages to push Saez back just enough to keep Ursula’s outstretched arms from grabbing Shine’s blonde hair.

Kate lets out a long sigh and walks over to Shine with her hands on her hips, “Did you do this Sandra?”

The small blonde does not look her boss in the eyes as she replies, “Yes, but I thought…”

“It doesn’t matter what you thought!” Kate cuts off Sandra sharply, getting the attention of the rest of the room, “You know, it was bad enough when you came in here on the first day and started preaching your religion to everyone, but this…you just can’t do shit like this!” Sandra looks up at Kate with big puppy-dog eyes, causing Hell Cat’s shoulders to drop, “If you do anything like this again, you’re fired. Got it?”

Sandra nods her head slowly, while Ursula and Velvet appear somewhat satisfied by Kate’s ruling.

“Alright, Maria, what’s your problem?” Kate heads over to the other side of the locker room, the tone of her voice displaying more irritation with each step.

http://i.imgur.com/WJmMHx8.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/tPY2b2Z.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/FDrUdvi.jpg

“Hell Cat, I brought my new friend, Erin, to visit, you know? And we’re having a good time, like, joking and stuff. But then Deborah comes over and says something like ‘QAW stands for Queefs at Will.’ That’s so rude!”

Young laughs to herself as Kate turns to face the 245-pound woman, “Debbie, seriously? Are you five?” Young says nothing, but her body language displays her annoyance with being talked down to. Kate takes a moment to calm down before speaking, not wanting to drive a wedge between herself and one of DPW’s main eventers, “Just don’t do it again, okay?” Kate wags her finger at Deborah, but Young merely rolls her eyes before sitting down in front of her locker. “Anybody else?” Kate says, half-heartily.

http://i.imgur.com/9odiyrV.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/1OjidHr.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/piZUmbD.jpg

Simony raises her hand and Kate motions for Sentinel to speak, “Hell Cat, I think I speak for the whole locker room when I say that we are all tired of Gloria’s act.” Gloria starts to open her mouth, but Claire Winters shoots her a glare that makes the former bodybuilder think otherwise before Simony continues, “She can’t get through a match without getting blown up. We offer to help her run laps, do jumping jacks, but she always turns us down. Then today, we’re trying to go over her match with her so she doesn’t forget any spots, and she’s not even listening.” Simony seems exasperated by having to call out another wrestler in front of everyone, but the rest of the locker room appears to be in agreement with what she has just accused Gloria of.

With her anger at a boil, Kate walks to the middle of the room and releases her rage at Gloria, “I’ve had it with you! You have the worst cardio I’ve ever seen! You can’t even get in the ring without getting winded! Every match you are in you embarrass yourself, but somehow you have the ‘balls’ to leave me a note saying you’re unhappy with your booking?!” Kate takes in another deep breath, “I would have fired you already but you are basically working for free! And tonight, you actually are, because I’m fining you your paycheck. Maybe that will teach you a lesson!”

Gloria looks up from the floor, her tears replaced by a searing look of anger. It is clear to everyone in the room that Kate’s decision has created a simmering tension between the two.

http://i.imgur.com/ARsNtbE.jpg

“Hey Kate, can we talk?” Gregory Chapman pokes his head into the locker room with his hand covering his eyes.

“Are we done here?” Kate looks over the faces of the roster and finding no replies, heads out into the hallway to speak with DPW’s only referee. “What is it Greg?”

“I heard what was going on in there. I suppose it is my fault.”

“Come on Greg, how could all that be your fault?” Kate gestures at the closed door of the locker room with a mix of disgust and amusement on her face.

“Well, I lead the wrestlers’ court, you know? Being the only man in the company I’m supposedly an impartial judge since I don’t know what goes on in the locker room.”

“Yes, I’m aware of that,” Kate nods and taps her foot rapidly on the linoleum floor.

“And that’s exactly the problem. Everything I rule on is just reactive; I can’t head anything off before it happens.”

“Greg, do you have a point? It’s three hours to showtime and I have a lot to do.”

“You see; I guess what I am trying to say is that you need someone in this locker room that is a leader. Right now, you have a bunch of young’ins and Amy, who let’s face it,” the referee imitates injecting his arm with a needle, “isn’t exactly leadership material.”

“Look Greg, I have a list of veterans I would love to bring in, but they are all too expensive.”

“I know Kate, I just figured I would make the suggestion,” Hell Cat just shakes her head at Gregory before heading down the hallway. “Wait, there’s one more thing.”

“Seriously? What is it?” Kate turns around and motions for the referee to hurry up with whatever it is he has to say.

“Well, after the show tonight, everyone is going to Mickey’s bar for drinks. You should come; Maria and Velvet are buying as punishment for some minor infractions.”

“Oh for f*ck’s sake,” Kate leaves Gregory standing alone in the hallway as she stomps back to her office.

As Saez taps out to Hell Cat’s Cradle after seven minutes of sparring, Kate makes a mental note to offer Ursula a contract once the show is over.

With the crowd settling in, Claire barely breaks a sweat in dominating Natalie. The spot monkey tries to use high flying maneuvers to topple the Ice Woman, but Winters easily kicks DiMarco out of the air each time.

After seven minutes of toying with Natalie, Claire decides to wrap up the action and debuts her new finisher, a running knee strike to the head she calls ‘Frost Bite.’ Winters connects and Natalie crumples to the mat before being covered for the pin.

A raucous cheer erupts from the crowd as Simony and Maria appear on the stage. Sentinel, the DPW Queen of the Ring title draped over her shoulder, walks down the ramp with Guest, who holds her tag team partner’s Venus Champion trophy.

Once in the ring, Simony is handed a microphone, but is forced to hold off speaking as the crowd continues to chant her name. “You guys…” Sentinel says sheepishly as she blushes.

The cheers eventually die down enough to allow Simony to address the fans, “Last month, I won this, the Queen of the Ring title,” Simony holds up the belt to more loud applause. “To do so, I had to survive three matches against the best this company has to offer to claim this,” as Sentinel points, Maria holds up the Venus trophy to some cheers. “It wasn’t easy, but the only way I was able to do it was because of the support of each and every one of you!”

Kate appears at the top of the ramp, but makes no further movement toward the ring, content to simply stare in silence at Doll Parts.

“Kate, if you’re out here to challenge me to a match tonight, I accept!” the audience voices their approval of the Violent Violet’s fighting spirit, no matter how foolhardy it may be. Without saying a word, Kate begins walking forward slowly, causing Simony and Maria to prepare for a fight.

http://i.imgur.com/FDrUdvi.jpg

Suddenly, Deborah Young attacks Doll Parts from behind. The 245-pound woman knocks Simony to the mat with a blow to the back, while Maria turns around to eat a right hand to the jaw. Kate quickly runs into the ring and instructs Deborah to powerbomb Maria. “I serve only one…” Young drones before slamming Maria to the mat.

Hell Cat places the Queen of the Ring title in the middle of the ring and gives the prone Sentinel a kick to the gut. Kate then picks up the Violent Violet for a Dark Phoenix Driver, ramming Sentinel's head into the hard metal of the title belt. With their mission accomplished, Kate and Deborah had back up the ramp as Simony and Maria remain motionless in the ring.

Match #1: Maria Guest vs Velvet Suarez

http://i.imgur.com/WJmMHx8.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/YNQZbsf.jpg

A casino staffer helps Simony to the back while Maria assures the referee that she is in good enough shape to fight.

Guest spends the first few minutes of the match simply recovering from Kate and Deborah’s assault. The crowd is mostly silent, still expecting Maria to make quick work of Velvet despite the attack that just took place. As Velvet gets in more and more offense, the fans become increasingly engaged, believing that Guest may actually be in jeopardy of losing.

With Suarez cheating at every turn, the cheers for Maria grow as Guest kicks out of a pin attempt despite Velvet holding on to her trunks. As she staggers to her feet, Maria is sent out of the ring by a dropkick from Suarez

With a Spanish accent, Velvet tells the booing crowd, “It’s hard looking this good.” Suarez goes to the floor to attack Maria, but is met by a quick forearm from Guest. Maria seizes the brief opening to ram Velvet into the ring apron.

Both wrestlers roll back into the ring, with Maria in quick pursuit of her opponent. Velvet tries a wild kick, but Guest easily dodges the blow and hits Suarez with a belly-to-belly suplex. Maria struggles to get to the top rope, but once Velvet is back on her feet, Guest lands a flying cross body for the pin as the crowd cheers.

Once Maria has made her way backstage, “Ice Queen” begins playing to bring out Claire Winters. While there are plenty of empty seats available, the Ice Woman decides she wants one in the front row that is occupied by a man in a purple Simony Sentinel shirt. The large man refuses to move at first, but gets up after a few moments of enduring Claire’s steely stare. Winters sits down and grabs a bag of popcorn from another nearby fan.

Match #2: Ariel Breaks vs Glorious Gloria

http://i.imgur.com/FOATvSe.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/piZUmbD.jpg

Gloria begins the match on the offensive, displaying a competitive fire that has been noticeably lacking in her previous outings. The former bodybuilder even manages to not get winded as she moves around the ring, but this does not stop her from being dominated by Ariel’s technical prowess.

As Ariel grabs Gloria around the waist for Breakerfall, Claire jumps up on the ring apron and starts yelling at Breaks. With Ariel distracted, Gloria manages to slip out of the hold and gets her opponent in the Glorious Full Nelson. Ariel appears to be fading, but manages to make Gloria release the submission by pushing backwards and ramming Gloria's back into the corner. One German suplex later, Breaks leaps from the top rope to hit an Ariel Spiral for the victory.

As the referee holds up Ariel’s arm, Claire invades the ring and hits Breaks from behind. With Ariel down on the mat, Winters stomps on her victim before slapping on the Ice Breaker.

http://i.imgur.com/uIOY5sq.jpg

To little reaction, Amy Galaxy runs down the ramp and slides into the ring. Before Claire can release her hold, Amy slams the Ice Woman with a right forearm to the head. Winters avoids more punishment by rolling to the floor while Amy helps Ariel to her feet.

“I ended you! You don’t even work here anymore!” Claire screams, echoing the sentiments of the confused crowd. Winters curses some more before retreating up the ramp while holding her head in pain.

Match #3: Deborah Young vs Sandra Shine

http://i.imgur.com/FDrUdvi.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/kq95o5v.jpg

In what can best described as a ritual sacrifice, Deborah takes out her rage on a hapless Sandra. To her credit, Shine plays the part of victim to a T, bumping like her life depends on it. After three powerbombs, Deborah picks up her opponent with ease and tosses Shine into the top turnbuckle. Sandra’s head snaps back upon impact and she hits the mat with a thud. As Young moves in to inflict more damage, the referee mericfully calls for the bell.

Kate appears on the stage and soaks in the jeers from the crowd. Hell Cat joins Deborah in the ring before being handed a microphone.

"If you think what we did to Doll Parts is bad, then you haven't been paying attention. I am going to tear Simony limb from limb tonight because I live and breathe for that title and I will not rest until I get it back!"

Kate holds the microphone up in the air and tilts her head back, “My name is Kate Avatar and you can all go to hell!”

Main Event: Kate Avatar vs Simony Sentinel for DPW Queen of the Ring title

http://i.imgur.com/1Hyvuq0.jpgVShttp://i.imgur.com/9odiyrV.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/dw8jdk2.jpg

Simony holds her head as she makes her way to the ring alongside a limping Maria. Despite their in-ring animosity, Sentinel offers Kate a handshake before the match starts. Hell Cat simply laughs off Simony’s gesture and slaps the Violent Violet’s hand away.

What ensues is a wild brawl, with Kate and Simony displaying their usual great chemistry. Stiff shots are exchanged back and forth as the crowd reacts loudly to every move. Hell Cat appears taken aback by Simony’s resilience as the latter refuses to succumb to Kate’s power moves.

“That title’s mine!” Kate screams at Sentinel after Simony kicks out of another pin attempt.

Powered by the cheers from the fans, Simony fights back and has Kate reeling. Sentinel bounces off of the ropes and tries to hit UltraViolet on Hell Cat, but Kate manages to avoid the move. Kate then picks up the off-balance Simony for the Dark Phoenix Driver, only to be countered by a hurricanrana by the Violent Violet.

With Kate down on the mat, Simony points to the top rope to signal for a Sentinel Strike. Just then, Deborah enters the ring, but Simony shows no fear in immediately attacking Young. The recovered Kate looks to take advantage of the distraction as she comes up behind Sentinel, but Maria interferes to save her tag team partner. All four wrestlers battle out of the ring as the referee officially loses control of the match.

Match Descended into Chaos at the 12:29 mark

Match Rating: D+

The four wrestlers continue to brawl, first into the crowd and out through the theater doors. Patrons on the casino floor scream as Kate slams Simony into a slot machine. Sentinel responds by grabbing a bucket full of pennies and flinging the contents at Hell Cat. On the other side of the casino, Maria and Deborah trade punches near blackjack tables, causing card players to flee with their chips.

DPW’s fans have followed the action out of the theater and now cheer on the chaotic scene. Someone who appears to be the casino manager attempts to halt the melee, but to no avail. Eventually, a swarm of security guards appear and hold Kate back from an equally restrained Simony. Other security guards keep Maria from continuing her fight with Deborah, but even these men think better of laying a hand on Young.

With some semblance of order restored, Deborah follows Kate as Hell Cat is hauled off to the employee-only section of the casino.

My experience with Natalie is that she's more willing to participate in the risqué stuff and she can develop nicely with the right matches, but she does start fairly low on the skill set. It can take 20-30 matches before she becomes useful, and I'm sure that's a bit of a problem for a small promotion like yours which is struggling. You can't afford someone who has to always be in "throwaway" matches.

Ariel is the top positive locker room influence at this point, and she is ranked behind only Kate as a show stopper and ring general. There are a couple girls in Kitsune Wrestling who never seemed to take off despite ranking in the top 5 in something. As the promotion grows I turn them into "gatekeeper" types where they can defeat any midcarder, but I never look to push them into the main event. And a couple might find their contracts don't get renewed. They get leapfrogged by other wrestlers who are just better in some way. You might start to notice that in my dynasty. As I grew to small I made quite a few subtle changes and ended up completely upending the rankings. And the changes continued as I brought in new people who proved better than anyone I had in the midcard despite starting at lower popularity.
