Hall Of Fame 2016 Nomination Phase

Recommended Posts

This is taken from a previous year's Hall of Fame process.

Alright, so this is going to go in two parts. The Nomination phase and the Voting phase. The Voting phase is going to come later so I'll explain that part when we get there. The Nomination phase goes like this:

1. Each person gets 3 choices for Nomination to be placed in my pm box. Only those sent to my pm box will be counted.

2. Each choice gets 1 point per Nomination

3. Self-Nomination IS allowed in this phase but not in the next phase.

4. Top ten in points move on to the Voting phase.

5. Feel free to post publicly in this thread who your nominations are and why people should vote for them.

6. Anyone who has run a diary or created a mod is eligible.

7. Hall of Famers already are as follows: Monkeypox, Scapino1974, Tristram, Adam Ryland, Nevermore, Tigerkinney, KeefMoon, J Silver, James Casey, BigPapa42, Marcel Fromage, Reaper, Dragonmack, Eisen-verse, Self, Phantom Stranger, jhd1, The Final Countdown, angeldelayette, NoNeck, Beejus, Anderz, The Lloyd, Hive, Genadi, 20LEgend, michgcs and MJStark.

8. Any further questions, feel free to ask on this thread or in my pm box.

<p>Ohhhh, sorry I didn't read the whole way down and see the note about for mod makers also!</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks very much CPBHBK and angeldelayette <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I've never done a diary past 3 months and my last was about me being the love child of Moolah and Vince, thought maybe it really struck a chord with someone <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

I'll post [publicly] my three choices</p><p> </p><p> Angel, can we nominate renderers/alt-makers or can we only nominate those who make data mods? I wanted to make sure this was clarified.</p>

Asaemon [Mod]. I don't think any other member has contributed more to the modding community in the past year. He's created many alternates, renders and graphics, contributing and creating willingly for the community. He always seems ready and willing to help others and communicate with newer members. Asaemon's most notable contributions are the Ultimate Prop Pack and unassigned renders -- adding to areas ignored by other writers. </p><p> </p><p> Asaemon has created and maintained the C-Verse expanded mods for WMMA which have introduced the universe to another audience and further add to the lore. As an avid player and modder for both games, he brings a unique perspective to modding. </p><p> </p><p> 2. Infinitywpi [writer]. Infinity has defined a single promotion since the beginning, and for the better part of a decade, has consistently written CZCW, one of the more popular promotions in the diary forum. He's one of the longest and hardest working writers on the forum. </p><p> </p><p> 3. 3rdStringPG [writer]. I've long admired his work with SWF, his consistency and his ability to provide immersion to the universe. He always stuck to his projects through thick and thin -- and the result was a cohesive and coherent universe. Second, 3rdStringPG managed to write a believable UC, one who was a jobber and not "pushed to the moon" -- and carried storylines through subsequent games.</p>

Great to see MHero and RKOwnage getting some love! Two of my absolute favorite writers <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

How are Justtxyank and Matt Shannon not in the HOF yet? Matt should be in on the strength of the mods he made alone (Risky Business is one of my favorite mods, even if I've never finished enough of a game to start a diary from that era) and Justtxyank should be inducted for the nGo picture pack alone, to say nothing of his Rising Storms Mod.

<p>MHero -<em> I really don't know how this guy hasn't made his appearance in the HOF yet. He's a stand up guy, willing to help you if he can and look at everything he has contributed to the boards. He's apart of the ThunderVerse team, but he's also had some great diaries, namely Pro Wrestling Wild which is one of my favourite diaries. Great dude, deserves all the plaudits that come his way.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Zergon - <em>When I was doing this I had to check numerous times to make sure this guy wasn't already in the HOF cause he should be. Zergon, like Hero, is another stand up guy and has helped me on numerous things in the past. His ESE: Eternal Suffering diaries are some of my favourites and the sheer longevity of his work (ESE in particular which ran almost 3 real life years (2012-2015) while in game it ran for 8 years) deserves plaudits in itself. Zergon deserves to be among the Elite on the GDS boards</em></p><p> </p><p>

Voeltzwagon - <em>I call this guy The King of the little leagues, as he is probably the best writer on the boards on a monthly show basis (Zergon challenges him though). Voeltz has had so many successful diaries at this stage its hard to say which are my favourites, BBoA was amazing, GSW was great and AAW was exceptionally good, Voeltz deserves to be amongst the elite in diary writing</em></p><p> </p><p>

Honourable Mention - James0 - <em>For his stellar alts and renders, if only I could have four votes.</em></p>

I just wanted to say thank you to those who have nominated so far. For those who haven't, you have plenty of time to get your nominees in. Remember, only the top ten move on to the voting phase. In cases of a tie, more will move on to the voting phase. For an example, right now there is a tie in the bottom slot so anyone with 2 votes or more would move on to the voting phase.

So, I am thinking about making a senior nomination committee. This group would nominate one person into the voting process of the hall of fame, much like the NFL does with their Hall. In order to be considered for the senior nomination, you will have to have retired from diary writing for a certain amount of years. That amount of years would be decided by the committee. I would like to hear thoughts on this. The senior nomination would not take the place of any regular nomination, of course.

Only just seen this but I remember when we had the End Of Year awards not too long ago and the select committee idea then was very unpopular among GDS members that I associate with. Enough so that we didn't even discuss the awards when they were announced because most felt they were absolute nonsense. Just my two cents, even though I am still a greenhorn round these parts, I think the same would happen here.

At least that's how I interpreted it.</p>

The committee itself would not be giving away an award at all. It is, as The Final Countdown says, a way to acknowledge some of the older writers. Only one name would have been added to the voting phase so it would still be up to the public at large to decide if they were worth using a vote on. But I can tell that so many are against the idea so I have made the decision to drop it. I apologize to those who I have spoken with about the committee for wasting your time.

<p>Apologies Angel, I'll concede that after reading TFC's post that I misinterpreted your idea slightly and thought this committee would be giving away a separate award. I think it's a fantastic idea to represent members from years previous that may have slipped through the cracks, I just think maybe there's a malaise around here to anything that resembles elitism.</p><p> </p><p>

I don't have a problem with you and your chosen committee members (whom I understand you have already spoken to) nominating somebody for this vote. So long as the reasons are there and it doesn't feel like bias against other nominees then I'm all for it.</p>

I personally support it, but I feel the community may not warm to the process.
