Note from Editor:

I’m glad to be back here with another diary, and we’re booking Modern WWE today ladies and gentlemen. The style of this diary is adopted from The Nickman’s Great WWF Diary “WWF Attitude Era… Where You Decide” ( Found at http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=531456).

In this diary, the power is in your hands, as you all vote on who’s fighting, who you would like to win, and how you see the match going down! The readers truly have the book, and I’m just the conductor on this crazy ride!

When voting is closed, it’s my duty to tally up the votes, and put together the show! This worked pretty well when The Nickman was at the helm, so let’s get this party started!

WWE RAW

Week 1, June 2016

Episode 1202: Owens/Reigns

IN THE RING: “Brrrrrrrrrapppiiddooo!” The horns sing out to welcome back the returning John Cena! The “Leader of the Cenation” is more than happy to be back, but can’t make it through his speech without getting interrupted. “The Phenomenal One” AJ Styles comes out to interfere, initially showing nothing but respect for the man who has carried the company for over a decade. AJ says that he’s dreamt of facing John Cena in the ring, and can’t wait to get that opportunity.

Cena agrees with Styles, offering a handshake as a sign of respect. But, at that time, The Club slither out from the back to observe the peaceful in ring segment. Styles acknowledges their presence, while grabbing Cena’s hand for the handshake. They shake hands, but Styles pulls Cena in and hits him with a massive clothesline. The Club come in and beat down Cena, allowing AJ to hit a Styles Clash on Cena! Finally, the Club seem to unified, and possibly the true attitude of AJ Styles has come to light!

Grade: B-

Notes: AJ’s turn, despite not having any build, went “phenomenally”, but Karl Anderson performed poorly.

MATCH 1: Dean Ambrose and Intercontinental Champion The Miz were the first two men to try to qualify for the prestigious Money in the Bank match at the upcoming pay per view. Despite having his wife Maryse put in good work at ringside throughout the match, Miz was a bit off his game(maybe thinking about a future movie role), allowing Dean Ambrose to plant him with the Dirty Deeds to get a spot in the match!

Grade: C+

Notes: While the “sexiest of the sexy” did put in good work, the match was severely lacking in psychology.

BACKSTAGE: Renee Young is seen backstage with Chris Jericho, who arrogantly explains that, since he created the Money in the Bank match, he should be given a spot in the match. Cesaro swiftly interrupts in his sleek suit, telling Chris to put his money where his mouth is on Smackdown.

Grade: B-

BACKSTAGE: Kevin Owens is seen elsewhere with JoJo, cutting an interview as only he can, promising to make a statement by defeating the WWE Champion tonight.

Grade: B+

MATCH 2: Tag team gold was on the line as The New Day faced off against The Vaudevillians in a rematch from Extreme Rules. This one was solid, as The Vaudevillians took advantage of Kofi Kingston(who was off his game), before Big E got the hot tag and the pinfall victory to retain.

Grade: Match - C+

POST MATCH: The New Day have little time to celebrate as Big E and Kofi noticed Anderson and Gallows are taking shots at Xavier Woods, knocking him out! The remaining two thirds of the New Day chase off The Club, but the message has been sent:

Grade: Beatdown - C-

Notes: Kofi was off his game, and Aiden English could use a different gimmick.

BACKSTAGE: “The Show Off” Dolph Ziggler was seen backstage with Renee Young, discussing his feud with NXT Standout Baron Corbin. Ziggler says Corbin is afraid to out-wrestle him, out-brawl him, and out-perform him. But, they’ll be no excuses when they see each other this week on Smackdown.

Grade: C+

Despite not being suited for his current gimmick, Ziggler performed well, making the best out of his limited mic time.

RINGSIDE: The Women’s Champion Charlotte saunters down to ringside, as the commentary team recaps the champ’s past few weeks, highlighting her new partnership with Dana Brooke and dumping her father Ric Flair.

Grade: D

MATCH 3: Since being screwed at Extreme Rules, Natalya had a chance to get some revenge on Dana Brooke in this contest. Unlike the women in this match, this one was not pretty, as Nattie locked in the Sharpshooter to get the submission victory, much to the chagrin of Charlotte.

Grade: D

Notes: Dana Brooke Was really disappointing, only putting up an in ring performance of 20

POST-MATCH: Charlotte doesn’t seem too intimidated by Nattie’s performance, but you could tell she was scared to face Nattie again for the scrap. The staredown is cut short as Stephanie McMahon appears on the stage! Steph shares some news that will upset Charlotte, as at Money in the Bank, she will defend her title in a ladder match! Charlotte is livid at ringside, as karma may have come back to get her!

Grade: D

Notes: Disappointing night for the divas. Most of the blame falls on Dana Brooke, as she again faltered in the post match segment. To no one’s surprise, Steph again was the star.

BACKSTAGE: As Steph is glowing from her recent announcement, her father Vince McMahon arrives to praise her game-changing announcement. Their privacy is soon interrupted by Shane McMahon, leading to some awkward tension. Vince tells both of them to come to the ring, as he has a major announcement for them.

Grade: B-

IN RING: Vince McMahon leads his family to the ring with some ground-breaking news. After working the crowd for a bit(as only Vinny Mac can), Mr. McMahon drops the bombshell - the Brand Split is back! On the monday after Money in the Bank, the WWE will hold a draft, and Stephanie and Shane will each represent a brand! Shane seems excited about this opportunity, but Stephanie seems a little uneasy about the news.

Grade: B

ON THE TRON: We’re on the road to Money in the Bank, where we’ll see Roman Reigns defending his title against Seth Rollins!

Grade: B

MATCH 4: In our next MITB Qualifier, perennial underdog Zack Ryder faced off against Alberto Del Rio for a spot in the dangerous contest. ADR honestly outclasses Ryder, but falls victim to a fast cradle to get into the match!

Grade: B-

Notes: Ryder was really off his game, as his in-ring performance dragged 30 points behind Alberto Del Rio’s.

BACKSTAGE: Roman Reigns is backstage with Renee Young hyping his main event against Kevin Owens, when Seth Rollins attacks! Seth smashes Roman’s back with a chair numerous times, before Road Agents can finally get between the two. Should Roman even wrestle tonight?

Grade: B

MAIN EVENT: Despite his possible injuries, Roman Reigns faced off against Kevin Owens in the main event. Roman truly fought back against Owens despite the odds, although it may not have worked with the Crowd. Ultimately, Owens gets the better of Reigns, pinning Reigns after a Package Powerbomb! The crowd is stunned, and Owens could be the real deal!

Grade: B

Notes: Roman was off his game, probably feeling it after that (WCW) Backstage Assault.

Overall grade: 80/B, Pop up in 19 regions.

Backstage Notes:

Few incidents backstage at Raw:

Our first item of note is a positive one, as WWE Champion Roman Reigns and Doc Gallows have recently bonded over their love of anime.

Our second item of note is also a good one, as John Cena has taken Bo Dallas under his wing.

Y2J likes Aiden English?

A note from after Raw saw Chris Jericho suggesting Aiden English get more time on the microphone, as he feels he is “money” on the mic.

Brock causing problems?

Brock Lesnar was developing a reputation for being selfish backstage. A swift slap on the wrist seemed to solve the problem.

Slap on the wrist for selfish behavior nothing noteworthy

Main Event results:

Apollo Crews defeated Heath Slater - D, Baron Corbin defeated Darren Young - D, Charlotte defeated Alicia Fox - D; The Usos defeated FaBreeze - C-

WWE Friday Night Smackdown

June 2016, Week 1

AJ Styles vs Jack Swagger

(Nice little match for AJ to get his heel character going. Then insert another face to the Battle Royal, perhaps Xavier Woods)

Pick the Stipulation

Dolph Ziggler vs Baron Corbin

Stipulation: Technical Wrestling match

(Ziggler should kick Corbin in the groin within the first seconds, like in real life, giving Corbin the DQ win)

MITB Qualifier:

Chris Jericho vs Cesaro

Specify the Finish: Cesaro Swing into the Sharpshooter to make Jericho tap

Number One Contenders Battle Royal for the United States Championship:

Apollo Crews, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel, Goldust, Heath Slater, Jack Swagger, Kalisto, Ryback, Sin Cara, Titus O’Neil

Charlotte/Dana Brooke vs Becky Lynch/Natalya

(Becky should take the pin)

The Club vs The Golden Truth

(If you pick The Golden Truth, Goldust should be replaced in the Battle Royal Perhaps by Big Cass, and then there's also someone to eliminate Ryback)

Charlotte will defend her belt in a ladder match at MITB. How many competitors?

Singles, Triple Threat, Fatal Four Way, Five-Way, Six-Way

Thoughts on the Format/Dynasty in General: It's quite entertaining so far

This was a standard battle royal matchup, winding down to a final four of Titus O’Neil, Ryback and the Lucha Dragons. In a strange alliance, Ryback and Titus seemed to work together to rid of the two luchadors, before Titus was able to eliminate Ryback to win the match!</p><p> <strong>Grade: C</strong></p><p> <em>Notes: Kalisto was a bit off of his game. Titus isn’t fit for this gimmick.</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>POST MATCH: Rusev with his manager Lana</em></strong> came down onto the entrance ramp to stare down the new number one contender, as neither man seemed to be intimidated by the other!</p><p> <strong>Grade: C</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>MATCH 2: After attacking the New Day last Monday,</em></strong> “The Club” members Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson faced off the weird team of Golden Truth. Despite their antics, Golden Truth were not able to take down the newest tag team in the WWE, as Anderson and Gallows were able to put down Goldust with a Stun Gun.</p><p> <strong>Grade: C</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>POST MATCH: Anderson grabs himself a microphone,</em></strong> bragging that last Monday was just the first step with the New Day. As far as their concerned, the WWE Tag Team Championships now belong to The Club.</p><p> <strong>Grade: C-</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>BACKSTAGE: Renee Young is seen with Baron Corbin</em></strong> who comments on his feud with Dolph Ziggler. Corbin says that Ziggler has made every excuse in the book as to why Ziggler just isn’t as good as Baron Corbin. The excuses end tonight, and he’ll destroy Ziggler in a Steel Cage match.</p><p> <strong>Grade: C</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>MATCH 3: In our Match of the Night so far,</em></strong> Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler possibly laid to rest their feud, as they faced off in a dangerous steel cage match. This was a good back and forth match, that saw Ziggler showcase that he really could out-wrestle Corbin. But, that didn’t matter much in the ring, as the power of Baron Corbin allowed him to shove Ziggler into the cage, before nailing the End of Days for the victory.</p><p> <strong>Grade: C+</strong></p><p> <em>Notes: Despite not being suited for his gimmick, Dolph carried the match, putting up an in-ring performance of 82 to Corbin’s 47.</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>ON THE TRON: We cut to a Michael Cole sit-down interview</em></strong> with AJ Styles. AJ spends most of his time commenting on John Cena, saying that he has no regrets about his actions last monday. He says The Club is family, and it’s time they take over the WWE. - B-</p><p> <strong>Grade: B-</strong></p><p> <em>Notes: While AJ’s gimmick is a bit off, this segment really got the crowd ready for AJ’s upcoming match. </em></p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>MATCH 4: Soaking in the mixed reaction from the crowd,</em></strong> AJ Styles faced off against former World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger. Swagger fought with fire and intensity throughout the match, but AJ’s athleticism was too much for the “Real American”. Styles was able to nail a Styles Clash for the victory in a very solid match. </p><p> <strong>Grade: B-</strong></p><p> <em>Notes: Great performance from Swagger, even if he wasn’t completely on his game. However, the announce table possibly hurt the match, as Mauro could step up his game.</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>BACKSTAGE: We cut backstage to some</em></strong> pre-recorded footage from after Raw, as a frustrated Charlotte and Dana Brooke were interrupted by another McMahon - Shane! Shane tells Charlotte he has some news for her - she will defend her title in a ladder match in a fatal four way match! Charlotte still seems mad, angrily walking away from Shane to end the segment.</p><p> <strong>Grade: C-</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>MATCH 5: The divas still continue to struggle,</em></strong> as Charlotte and Dana teamed up against Paige and Natalya. Again, Dana’s performance was less than desirable, but thankfully Charlotte did most of the work. The finish saw Dana Brooke pull Paige off the apron right before the hot tag, and Charlotte was able to roll up Nattie, with the help of the tights, to steal the victory.</p><p> <strong>Grade: C-</strong></p><p> <em>Notes: Dana was the obvious weak link in this matchup, only putting up a 20 in ring performance compared to everyone else’s 50s.</em></p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>BACKSTAGE: Chris Jericho was seething backstage,</em></strong> ready for his MITB qualifying match with Cesaro later tonight. The lead singer of Fozzy was freely calling Cesaro a stupid idiot, before reminding him that the MITB match is his match, and he can’t wait to tap out Cesaro to get a spot.</p><p> <strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>ON THE TRON: We get a Raw Rebound segment,</em></strong> highlighting Seth Rollins attack of Roman Reigns and Kevin Owen’s victory over the WWE Champion.</p><p> <strong>Grade: B+</strong></p><p> </p><p> <strong><em>MAIN EVENT: In a great match,</em></strong> Cesaro and Chris Jericho finally met up. Both men’s in ring performance were off the charts, easily giving us the best match of the night. After a back and forth contest, Cesaro was finally able to put Chris Jericho away after nailing him with his signature swing, and locking him in the sharpshooter!</p><p> <strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p> <em>Notes: Y2J was a little bit off his game tonight, but you honestly couldn’t tell.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p> <strong><em>POST MATCH: Cesaro is estatic about qualifying for the MITB,</em></strong> as the announcers put him over huge, labeling him a favorite in the MITB. But, Smackdown closes an embarrassed and frustrated Jericho sitting in the ring.</p><p> <strong>Grade: B</strong></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p> <strong>Rating: 80/B</strong></p><p><strong> Pop up in 26 regions</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/G73VWos.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p>
