Is this the end?

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody, I'm currently playing Rising Storm converted mod as the owner of ECW, began as a small company, raised at regional and even making some money after months of losses.

Finally, at the end of January 1995 I reached Cult level, I thought it would have been great to sign my wrestler in written contract, but... I suddenly start to loss a ton of money!!

As you can see in the pic above, the marketing expenditures are a big issue comparing to what I used to pay the previous months. There's also a misc expenditure of almost 100k that I've no idea where it comes from.

Any suggestion? If thing keep going like this I'll be out of business very soon, I'd consider switching to regional if possible, to reduce the losses.

I think you just learned the hard way how crazy realistic this game can be. I don't know if there's a way to set yourself back to regional, but if you decrease in size back down to regional, you will definitely want to cap yourself until you have enough money to handle the increased expenses.

<p>How many shows are you running? How many people are on written deal? What's your production set on?</p><p> </p><p>

These are questions I'd need an answer to to supply any reasonable answer that could help. Honestly, I'd say only hand out written deals to the men carrying the company. Make sure your not trying to compete with the big boys production wise either because it can and will kill you. If your popularity is high enough in your home region I'd suggest having more shows in the region if your only have one or two shows a month. Also, stay away from tv because jumping to tv as soon as your cult can and will kill you. I hope this helped.</p><p> </p><p>

Oh, and when you run your extra shows to cut cost make sure you aren't using highly paid PPA guys if you have any on your roster. Stick to your written deal main events and only use the high PPA guys on the big show. It's the only way I've been able to survive the jump to cult. Good Luck <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

The problem is that I cannot intentionally lose popularity and decrease my size, and even if I could while trying to do that I'll continue lose more than 100k per month, in a short period i could be out of business.

Even trying to expand my show in a new network won't work, I have contracts with a lot of small networks and their contract won't expire anytime soon. PPVs broadcasters still dont't even negotiate with a company like mine.

It's a no win situation, it seems a paradox that growing brings you only new expenditures and little incomes, how can you survive?

I'm running one weekly tv show, I have deals with a lot of broadcasters, covering with them almost the entire USA area, I usually hold my shows in two regions, Tri-State which is my home region and South East, where I reached the 47 grade to be at Cult level.

None of my workers was on a written deal, the only one I put on a written deal is Chris Jericho, the same day I went Cult, to prevent his steal from WCW and WWF. My production values are worse than my rivals, and with rivals I don't mean WCW and WWF, but WWC and USWA. I never felt I needed to increase those values because I didn't want to waste the money, and after all my shows were still good, increasing my pop every month.

<p>Do you lose money on non-TV shows? If you turn any kind of profit on running events, I would suggest running more events using Jericho for each show to get your money worth out of him, and utilizing mostly cheaper midcard guys on those shows. Don't use more main eventers than you have to. Think of it like manual house shows. Of course, if you lose money every time you step out the door, then this won't help at all. </p><p> </p><p>

Pay attention to the venue you go to as well. Sometimes it's more cost efficient to sacrifice a few ticket sales to rent a cheaper building.</p>

<p>Some of your issues are because you are using a ported version of my mod. The new broadcaster system is not working for you. The version I will be releasing soon will work much better. For example, at cult you can get ppv in the us. </p><p> </p><p>

I'd also suggest that you need to run more shows as ecw outside of tv. Hold non televised events. If you can't get on ppv see if any commercial broadcasters will show your events for you to pick up extra revenue.</p>

Wondering why you say TV will kill you so I know what to expect. I'm considering altering my strategy to even get a deal before cult (hesitant as I'm afraid of increasing worker pop without being able to lock my top guys to written) and I would think the revenue would be crucial to his survival, not to mention added sponsors from pop increases. The rest of the advice matches my experience in jumping to other sizes and seems sound.</p>

I would end my tv deals. Yes they may be key to expansion, but you take a hit financially for each of those shows. I'd end my tv deal and simply contact a tv network to get them to show my events instead that way you can still be seen around the USA. It should cut down show costs immensely and still give you the possibility of growth due to still have a tv presence through your events. PPV can and will come later on down the line, but as of now you just need to focus on cutting cost. If you have a roster over the required minimum its time to trim the fat. You can always sign jobbers on one night deals if need be. Hope that helped a little more.

<p>So basically I should cancel my weekly tv show and just run one event every month and broadcast it to keep my pop?</p><p> </p><p>

Because that's just what I used to do at the beginning, but I was losing money at my events so I created my tv show and set the company as TV oriented and I slowly began to reduce the losses and started to see the first incomes.</p>

So you can get an hour show, with alot lesser people. I.e. pre match interviews or brawls what ends up in matches</p>

<p>That's what I'm doing: 1 hour show without using all my PPA top stars, maybe just three or four of them each show and I focus the shows on them. The rest of the card filled with midcarders who can actually put on good matches. Then the next episode I use the other major stars who were left off the show.</p><p> </p><p>

By the way to solve the problem I went in the editor and set my max size as regional, I felt like I cheated but didn't want to lose my game. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

wondering if you have a save game file from just before the TV deal. I'd like to take a peak both to prepare myself and see if there is anything differently that you could have done. I'm thinking I'll back mine up and plow ahead as my position will be very different from yours. Here is where my fed is at. Note that the sponsorship change in oct is due to patch update from 1.03
