Hive has the fantastic '95 mod for 2013 that hopefully will be converted. That mod is based on BurningHamster's marvelous '96 mod for 2010. He eventually released it on TEW 2013 and I sure hope he does a version for 2016.

It's an ideal time for a mod with the start of the nWo -> rise of WCW and the difficulties WWF had in keeping up. Oh, and that li'l plucky ECW is coming off one of the best years any promotion has produced imo. Plus Japan and Mexico were still on fire at this time though All Japan's deficiencies are starting to become more and more evident. Still though, they had 4 of the best wrestlers in the world - so it wasn't all bad. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Also, Vader is in WWF, Stone Cold debuts as The Ringmaster, Rocky Maivia pops out of nowhere and WWF had some great future workers in development. I mean, who can forget Scotty 2 Hotty? WWF and ECW are the most fun to play as in 1996 imo.

I am also hoping Hive updates his 1995 mod for TEW2016, it was the mod I poured the most time into in the last game.

Would love a 1996 mod also, perhaps starting the night after Bash at the Beach when the nWo was born.

I unfortunately do not have the know how or the time to pull off either but I check these boards everyday praying for a hype thread for one or the other.

BurningHamster has been working on 96 for a while now. It's coming along slowly but as usual will be top quality.

What he's nailed so far is attendance, he has really nailed attendance.... Ask him about attendance.

Stuff

Would love a 1996 mod also, perhaps starting the night after Bash at the Beach when the nWo was born.

I'd love it if it started a month or so before that. What if WCW never made nWo? What if they did Hulkamania 2.0 with Scott Hall and Kevin Nash being the main villains for Hogan? Could WCW get that consecutive 84 week ratings advantage anyway? What if it started even earlier, at the start of the year? What if Stone Cold stayed in ECW? What would that mean for ECW? What would that mean for WWF? What if the Curtain Call never happened? What if the KOR winner was Hunter? What if the Ultimate Warrior didn't get fired? What if? What if? What if? WHAT IF? ... Goddamn, I want that mod to be a thing so bad. You simply can't go wrong whichever promotion you pick. It is going to be interesting no matter what.

There are a ton of variables for that but anything in 1996 prior to Bash at the Beach still leaves everything wide open. You could still have anyone other than Hogan (or no one at all even <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />) be the 3rd man.

As far as the "what if's"; if it was anyone other than Hogan, short of it being another WWF guy, the NWO would not have had as much steam and would have fizzled out, for sure if it was anyone from WCW. Sting would have been about as close as you could've gotten, but I think the fans would've crapped all over that and it wouldn't have worked.

Austin staying in ECW probably would've seen the same Austin just not with the global fan base.

What ifs?

As far as the "what if's"; if it was anyone other than Hogan, short of it being another WWF guy, the NWO would not have had as much steam and would have fizzled out, for sure if it was anyone from WCW. What would happen with WWF? The Attitude Era is out of the question, the Lex Express is over in WCW, Shawn Michaels is the champ (but soon to start being kind of a Richard), Vader's a glorified jobber, Bret probably won't stay there much longer (even if the Montreal Screwjob didn't happen, WCW would most likely sign him anyway), Mankind isn't what WWF would see as a legit champ, Undi... huh... what if there was a major Undertaker vs Sycho Sid angle that started in late 1996 for the championship? Oh, god, I'm back to what if-ing.

Also, I kind of disagree with Austin being the same star he was, just not on a global level. The Stone Cold Steve Austin persona was great for the WWF, it really stood out and marked the WWF Attitude Era, but ECW already had their Attitude Era spraked up with Shane Douglas tossing aside the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. He would be in top title contention, he had all the in-ring talent and charisma in the world, but a guy showing the middle finger to everyone wouldn't be much different than the rest of the roster (heck, midcarders were bringing "pornstars" as managers to ringside!), so, yeah, he wouldn't be a fun-loving babyface or a weaselly heel, but he wouldn't be the same character he was in the WWF. Now wouldn't that have been interesting? What if we saw the birth of Austin Dudley? Aaaaand I've done a full circle once again.

Also, regarding WCW... I don't know, I've haven't watched enough 1995-6 WCW to know what was going on at the time.

95 and 96 despite having a rough main event scene are still some of the best years of the company. Check them out on the network <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

The Yeti ffs...

They had loads of star quality on the face side of things, with Hogan, Savage, Sting and Luger - but the heels were indeed lacking after Vader (who they for some oddball reason turned face) left. The only really big heel they had after that was Ric Flair, whom they kinda mis-used after his feud with Hogan fizzled out.

Watching the early Nitros, they did do a pretty fair job of building The Giant up in spite of themselves. He was green as grass to be stuck in as many PPV main events as he was, and they stuck him with that weird "son of the giant" gimmick, but just on sheer menace and potential he was hanging with the legends pretty handily.
