British Invasion Rides Again

 

I've wanted to make a Mod where I could really demonstrate TEW 2016's new features, and I feel September 1992 would be a terrific choice. All the new features are accounted for in 1992 RW. Hogan has taken a "leave of absence" and currently is employed in a major scandal, Bill Watts is in WCW and forcing his son (Eric) down his throat, and Ron Simmons was the African-American World champion, and intended figurehead, of a national company.

 

And, the WCW United States (August 27th), the WCW World (August 2nd), the WWF World (September 1st) and the WWF Intercontinental (August 29th) all changed hands within this period -- putting the User in a unique situation where both major companies have new champions at this point.

 

I plan to emphasize realism in the Mod while not harming the narrative. For example:

• I want to make Simmons a believable figurehead. This means his star quality and charisma will be competitive with WCW's US Champion Sting. I believe Watts intended him to be figurehead as he had done before in Mid-South with the Junkyard Dog. To do this, I will need to raise Simmons' Rising Storms stats considerably.
  
• I plan on having Flair as WWF Champion. He won the title on September 1st, 1992 -- but it didn't air until the 14th on Superstars.
  
• I don't currently plan on having WCW compete in the NWA at this point, as they had their own champion and Watts didn't like the NWA. I will probably give them a working agreement with NJPW.
  

 

I'm using Justxxyank's Rising Storms (91) as a base. I plan to stay fairly faithful to the original data (wrestler stats, company size) -- looking at his base stats many wrestlers are portrayed realistically and most guys aren't given great psychology, star quality, etc. off the bat.

 

Any advice or feedback you want to give me I will consider and probably go into the mod. Expect an 0.1 Beta sometime in late August.

Sounds great! I have always thought Ron Simmons could have been bigger than he was, including a WWF Championship run in 1997, so I'm happy to see his stats buffed for a change, because I honestly believe he did have the SQ and Charisma to make it work (probably 83 or so).

This should put him #2 at both SQ and Charisma in the WCW Main Event, with Austin still farther down the card.</p><p> </p><p> I think this will be a lot of fun to play -- more importantly, unique from any other RW mod.</p>

I was wondering if anyone could give input on Foreign Workers or companies in '91. I don't know a whole lot outside the US in this particular period.

 

I would credit anyone who wants to help me with this project.
