Paul questions Jerry's claim to any title as Austin tries to talk with Tommy Rich. Tommy is stand offish and it looks like he has animosity with not only Lawler, but to Idol as well. Idol, Rich and Lawler argue as Bill "Superstar" Dundee comes out back and he attempts to calm down Tommy leaving Lawler and Idol to argue. Rich has had enough and leaves the ring. This would of normally resulted in a DQ but Dundee and Paul Diamond had Jerry Calhoun distracted for a few moments.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Bill Dundee & Jerry Lawler defeated Badd Company in 20:04 when Jerry Lawler defeated Pat Tanaka by pinfall with a Piledriver.</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">AWA Southern Heavyweight Title</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"> Austin Idol © W/ Paul E. But Idol began to work on the leg of Brickhouse. Looks about 4,500 showed up for tonight's show. With some quick figures it looks like we made a 2k profit. Not bad he thinks to himself. Mike Jones knocks on the door and Jerry motions for him to come in. Mike, who is being called Soul Train Jones says he thinks Jack Hart might of been impaired tonight. Jack's moves were just off it seemed like. One slip of balance one way or another, and somebody would of got hurt. When did all of this drugs and booze become this rampant Jerry thinks to himself. After some small chit chat Jerry says he will keep a closer eye on the situation. <p> </p><p> Time to pack up and leave as the ring equipment has been packed and put away. Jerry heads out to the parking lot and Chic Donovan is waiting. Jerry thinks great, here we go again. Chic asks if Jerry has a moment. He will be trying to put them with some workers who can show them the ropes. Donovan shakes his head in agreement and tells the boss to be safe going home. Well 87 is starting off well Jerry thinks to himself and gives a chuckle. </p><p> </p><p> What in the world have I gotten myself into. The landscape is changing. CWA Championship Wrestling

Well Saturday morning has arrived. Jerry sits in office at the channel 5 studio going over the card for todays taping. Eddie Marlin is the first to get under Jarrett's skin today. Eddie wants to withdraw 10,000 grand for unspecified reasons. At first Jarrett thinks its a rib of some kind. But Eddie is serious. He has a stake in this promotion. He has put in money into as a partner. Now he needs some of his money back. Jarrett tells Eddie he will look into it. But as Eddie should know, there may not be a lot of profit this month. We just started paying for professional musicians for entrance music.

Well today looks like its going to be one of those days. After dealing with Eddie Marlin, Jerry decided to look in on some of the workers who are getting ready. There was Jerry's mistake as he walks in on a Chic Donovan and Rocky Johnson argument. Apparently Chic was living up to his egomaniac gimmick and said somethings about Rocky. This almost led to a fist fight between the two. Jerry was in no mood for this today and fined Chic Donovan. Chic wasn't even scheduled to be here today. Hell for that matter neither was Rocky. Then another situation. Austin Idol and Stan Frazier, Giant Hillbilly Elmer, began to get heated. It was Idol's voice who Jarret heard first. Idol maybe the champion, but Jarrett isn't going to tolerate this crap backstage. Idol gets fined and walks off. Did I mention this is going to be one of those days?

Jarrett decided he would go out side to clear his thoughts. Well low and behold here is Jeff Van Camp in his full wrestling gear as Lord Humongous almost nose to nose with a fan outside. Jarrett manages to pull Jeff away. Jarrett tells him that no matter what, he is to never get that close or personal with the fans again. He is reminded that they are the reason he is here. They pay money to see folks like him. Another fine for the day. Jeff calms down and thanks Jarrett. Jeff explained that he was just getting mentally prepared with his gimmick and got over zealous. He will try not to do that again.

Then Jack Hart arrives and looking like no condition to work today. Jarrett as had enough. Go the F*** home. And by the way your fined as well yells Jarrett. Jack tries to say he just needs a cup of coffee to wake up. But Jarrett isn't going for it and ups the fine even higher. Hart leaves mad but stumbles his way back to the parking lot. Yep, one of those days Jarrett thinks to himself.

Preshow

Jeff Jarrett VS Phil Hickerson

Jeff uses his speed and youth to counter Phil's bar room brawl tactics. Phil would get several near falls on Jeff. But in the end Jarrett began to quicken the pace and manages to pick up the win with a Figure Four leglock.

Jeff Jarrett defeated Phil Hickerson in 15:14 by submission with a Figure-Four Leglock.

Announcers desk:

Lance Russell and Dave Brown welcome us to another great day of action here in Memphis. We will be seeing Soul Train Jones defending his CWA/AWA International title against Jonathan Boyd. That one promises to be a great match. We will also have for you, The Beast from the East, Bam Bam Bigelow in action as well. We will be back after these commercial messages.

CWA/AWA International Heavyweight Title

Jonathan Boyd VS Soul Train Jones ©

Soul Train was clearly the fan favorite as he entered the ring. Boyd attacks him as he entered the ring looking to pin the champ early. Jonathan Boyd begins to look for an opportunity to lock on a Iron Claw, but its Soul Train who manages a quick rally and is able to lock on a sleeper on Boyd. Train picks up another defense and win.

Soul Train Jones defeated Jonathan Boyd in 10:25 by submission with a Sleeper Hold.

Announcers Table:

Tommy Rich comes out unannounced and wants to get somethings off of his chest. He once again lays into Lawler about all of his title shots he has gotten over the months. Where is Rich's opportunity? Has everyone forgotten that he is a former world champion? Austin Idol then comes out with Paul E. Dangerously. Paul holds his hands up and tell Rich that he doesnt want to intrude. But he and Austin know the frustrations when it comes to dealing with Jerry Lawler. He again asks Tommy to join forces with Austin and himself. To rid Memphis once and for all, the scourge that is Jerry "The King" Lawler.

Rich thinks for a moment and shakes his head. Tommy says he knows the feeling that Idol has for Lawler. But this isn't about him. Its about Tommy Wildfire Rich. Its about him, recapturing a moment for himself. He has a lot of respect of Idol. But he intends to be a one man crusade. Tommy then walks away. Paul E. Dangerously says he gets how Rich feels. He hopes one day that he can reach an understanding with Rich, to rid us once and for all, from Jerry Lawler.

Announcers Table:

Lance Russell announces that the AWA World Tag team champions, The Midnight Rockers are coming to Memphis later this month. And they will be defending the AWA World Tag Team titles against the Southern Tag team champions. Big Bubba and Goliath. Those Rockers sure are a talented team proclaims Lance as we follow up with a video showcasing The Rockers highlights.

The Colorado Kid VS Lord Humongous

Lord Humongous is the newly crowned NWA Mid-American champion. Lance Russell and Dave Brown remind us that he won that title in Evansville earlier this week. This one is pretty much all Humongous as he dominates this match. One time he even brings in a chair but Jerry Calhoun, the referee for this match is able to stop him from using it. As Jerry gets the chair out of the ring, Lord Humongous hits a piledriver on The Colorado Kid picking up an easy win.

Lord Humongous defeated The Colorado Kid in 1:45 by pinfall with a Piledriver.

Announcers Desk:

Lance tells we have another long time superstar returning to the area soon. "Dirty Dutchman" Dutch Mantell is coming soon. We have a video sent in from the Dutchman himself. Mantell goes on a eggs sucking, dirty mule tirade on Lawler, Austin Idol, and just about everything else. He wasn't called the Dirty Dutchman because he kissed babies and handed out candy. He is coming home. And everybody better be on the look out.

Badd Company W/ Paul E. Dangerously VS Gypsy Joe and King Cobra

When your in a match with Paul Dangerously ringside. You can pretty much say its going to be a handicap match. Paul is all over the place causing havoc ringside and even walking over to the announcers table causing trouble there as well. Pat Tanaka and Paul Diamond control most of the match. Isolating Gypsy Joe before taking him out with their Leapfrog Body Guillotine.

Badd Company defeated Gypsy Joe and King Cobra in 5:35 when Pat Tanaka defeated Gypsy Joe by pinfall with a Leapfrog Body Guillotine.

Announcers desk:

Lance Russell begins to put over a big card coming to Jackson TN. Monday night. He says this man, Bam Bam Bigelow, as he walks over to Lance, is set to take on the AWA Southern Heavyweight champion, Austin Idol. Bigelow says he is use to fighting, and he always comes out ahead. This Monday, your going to find out why he is called the "Beast from the East"

Bam Bam Bigelow VS Don Bass

Don Bass was very defensive in this one as Bam Bam was looking to impress. Bass kept ducking out not really engaging Bigelow. Austin Idol and Paul E. Dangerously come out. Bam Bam manages to cream Austin sending him scurrying out. Bass tries to sneak up on Bigelow, but gets caught. Kick to the gut of Bass. Followed with a big Power Bomb. Bam Bam goes for the cover as Idol stares at Bigelow. Paul Dangerously keeps Austin from getting into the ring as Bass gets pinned.

Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Don Bass in 2:06 by pinfall with a Power Bomb following interference from Austin Idol.

I really hate doing one of these, I like what you are doing with this so keep up the good work, posts but...

I like what you are doing with this diary thus far so keep up the good work. I always enjoy historical diaries more than the thousands of modern day WWE diaries that pop up on here so that is what drew me in.

I feel a little shame in admitting that I laughed way too much when I saw the Soul Man Jones picture. Anytime I see a picture of Virgil I always think of the Lonely Virgil website.

Also, I recognize all of the champions with the exception of Goliath. Do you know anything about him (Or any other reader)?

No, your not one of those guys BHK. I'll be glad to answer your questions anytime. Goliath appears to be Moose Evans. Don't think he stayed in Memphis very long. He is a former AWA Tag champion. He teamed with Vern Gagne to achieve that. Think I seen a few tapes of his on you tube sometime ago. Looks younger than he appears here. Maybe a cross up. Maybe not. His tag partner here is Fred Ottman. He became tug boat and the infamous Shockmaster. Glad your digging it. Wanted something different. And I think I know this time in Memphis. or atleast most of the top players. I'm going to go slow on this one. But i'm digging it. Even if the backstage is a total train wreck right now. I'll get it sorted. Thanks BHK.

But Big Bubba catches Tracy with a sidewalk slam that really turned the momentum around for the champs. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Big Bubba & Goliath defeated The Southern Boys in 9:58 when Big Bubba defeated Tracy Smothers by pinfall with a Running Splash.</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">NWA Mid-America Title</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"> Giant Hillbilly Elmer VS Lord Humongous ©</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> Lord Humongous attacks Giant Hillbilly before the match began. He spends most of the match just pummeling away on Elmer. His fatal mistake was running into a Elmer after firing him into the corner. Elmer raises a knee in desperation that catches Humongous. A devastating standing splash by Elmer and this one is over with. Elmer is the new NWA Mid-America champion. Elmer hightails it out as Lord Humongous looks to avenge his loss.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Giant Hillbilly Elmer defeated Lord Humongous in 6:05 by pinfall with a Standing Splash. He thanks the fans for welcoming him in. He knows he hasn't always done good. But when The King came calling he felt compelled to come to the Memphis area. He tells us he gets paid to beat people up. And tonight is a win win for him. He will beat Austin Idol up tonight. And he will become the new AWA Southern champion when this night is over with. And if that runt Paul E. Gets involved. Paul is gonna get beat up as well.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">CWA/AWA International Tag Titles</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"> Billy Travis and Jeff Jarrett VS Mr. Rising Sun and Tarzan Goto © W/ Tojo Yamamoto</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> The champs try to muscle around the challengers early on. But Jarrett and Travis are just a step quicker with their strikes and keep the champs from over powering them. Tojo Yamamoto does his best to keep the match from getting to fast paced by either distraction or just full out calling his men out of the ring to confer with them. Then end saw Mr. Shima hit a back suplex on Billy Joe after Tojo Yamamoto once again get involved during the match.</p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Mr. Rising Sun & Tarzan Goto defeated Billy Travis & Jeff Jarrett in 10:18 when Mr. Shima defeated Billy Joe Travis by pinfall with a Bridging Back Suplex after a distraction from Tojo Yamamoto.</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Brickhouse Brown VS Mike Davis</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> Brickhouse Brown controlls most of the match's pace. Mike Davis however slows the match down with several variations of choke holds. Davis then resorts to wailing away on Brown with several hard punches. All this does is upset Brown and he answers with a barrage of punches himself.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brickhouse Brown defeated Mike Davis in 10:02 by pinfall with a Missile Dropkick.</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Rocky Johnson VS Steve Keirn</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> Steve and Rocky feel each other out during the opening moments of the match. Keirn with a few armdrags on Rocky, to which Keirn celebrates as the greatest moves ever. Keirn does the Fargo Shuffle to get under Rocky's skin. Rocky shakes his head as if to say ok, you caught me. Rocky may not be the greatest of technical wrestling. But man this guy can hit. Rocky controls most of the match afterwards and puts the match away with a Johnson Shuffle.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Rocky Johnson defeated Steve Keirn in 13:27 by pinfall with a Johnson Shuffle.</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">AWA Southern Heavyweight Title</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;"> Austin Idol © W/ Paul E. Dangerously VS Bam Bam Bigelow</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> Idol and Dangerously are a lethal combo. You better believe it when your facing them, it will be almost a handicap match. All this does is make Bam Bam angry. Paul E distracts Jerry Calhoun allowing Idol to use a chair on Bigelow. Austin takes his time to goat to the fans before going for the pin. Bigelow kicks out at 2. Bigelow trades punches with Idol, then wins the war of punches. Paul E. Once again get involved. Bigelow clocks him as well. Idol bring back a chair. Bigelow blocks the chair shot, wrestles the chair away from Austin. Then hits Idol with it instead. Jerry Calhoun calls for the bell.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Austin Idol defeated Bam Bam Bigelow in 22:28 when Bam Bam Bigelow intentionally got disqualified.</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <strong>After Match:</strong></p><p> </p><p> The match is over. Bigelow protests Jerry's decision as Idol and Paul E begin to retreat backstage. Jerry Lawler comes out from backstage and drops both Paul E and Austin Idol. Jerry and Bigelow use Austin as a pinball as they take turns with punches on Idol. Paul E tries to get involved but is quickly disposed of. </p><p> </p><p> Tommy Rich then comes out. And it looks like he wants a piece of Idol as well. Rich is yelling at Paul E for bother him over the last few weeks. Lawler holds up Idol for Rich to land a shot. Rich winds up and delivers. But at the last moment, Idol slides out, and Rich drops Lawler instead. The crowd is stunned. Rich is beside himself as Idol and Paul E make a hasty retreat. </p><p> </p><p> Bigelow yells at Rich while checking in on Lawler. Tommy Rich is upset but doesn't stay around long as he knows when Jerry gets up, he will fight first then ask questions later. The crowd turns on Rich as he leaves to go backstage.</p>

Standing next to him is Tommy "Wildfire" Rich. Tommy begins to explain his action from Jackson TN earlier in the week. Gets involved a few times and Idol taking advantage of the situation. Idol using the chair one too many times. And Bigelow finally getting the chair and hitting Idol with it. We then see Jerry Lawler coming out and hitting Idol. Bigelow and Lawler using Idol. Then Rich coming down. The video ends of course with Rich knocking Lawler out. The video doesn't present enough evidence to sway one way or another. You either believe its an accident. Or you believe Rich did it on purpose.</p><p> </p><p> We come back from the video and Lance Russell tells Tommy that Jerry Lawler is still hot about this. The only reason he isn't here today is because he had obligations else where. Rich again begins to defend himself as Austin Idol and Paul E come out. Paul tells Tommy he is glad he finally wised up. We may have two shows in a row without incident. That changed after the Jack Hart, Giant Elmer match. Elmer was not happy and he began to yell at Jack Hart, AKA Barry Horowitz. Elmer is claiming that Barry is high. Barry denies the actuation. Jerry looks at Barry and makes a snap decision. You are high Barry, Jerry says. Barry finally admits he might of had something last night, but assures Jerry Jarrett he is clean. Jerry has had enough and fires Barry right then and there. I'm done with this yells Jerry before going back and conducting the show.</p>
