[WCW, 1991] Riding Out The Storms

World Championship Wrestling

-The month of February is going to begin with a bang. This night, at the Pyramid Arena, will feature several matches that could main event all around the world. One of those matches will feature the NWA/WCW World Heavyweight Champion Sting! The champion will step into non-title action as he faces off with one of his greatest rivals in Ric Flair. Last week, Flair called Sting a coward for backing out of the War Games match to defend his title. This week, Sting will definitely be seeking a measure of revenge against The Nature Boy.

-Speaking of War Games, we are going to have two of the participants in that War Games match going one on one. We will see the Captain of Steamboat's Squadron, Ricky Steamboat, taking on a member of the Four Horsemen, Barry Windham. Which team will take momentum as we move closer to WrestleWar and War Games?

-We have learned that the Four Horsemen will all be there in the arena this week. The beginning of the show will feature the unveiling of the fourth man in the Horsemen. Rumors have been running rampant about who this fourth man will be. But the only way to know for sure will be to tune in to the SuperStation!

-Plus both semifinals matches of the NWA World Television title tournament. We will feature Owen Hart taking on Michael Wallstreet and Arn Anderson facing Sid Vicious! Which two men will move on to the finals of the tournament next week right here on WCW Saturday Night?

-Plus Larry Zbyszko, Bobby Eaton, Big Van Vader, El Gigante and more. Make sure you tune in! BE THERE!

<p>Owen Hart - <em>I'm going with Owen solely because I'm voting Arn in the next match. Owen vs. Arn will keep a face/heel in the final.</em></p><p>

Arn Anderson</p><p>

Larry and Bobby - <em>I like this slow build Dangerous Alliance you've got going on.</em></p><p>

Doom - <em>TEAM OF DOOM.</em></p><p>

Ricky Steamboat - <em>"The Dragon" picks up another big win.</em></p><p>

Sting - <em>World champ looks strong en route to his title match at WrestleWar.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Always great to see "The Ravishing One" show up to make a scene <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> I also can't wait to see who the final Horseman will be. Most of the "usual candidates" are all joining up with the Alliance, so it's going to be someone pretty impressive I'm sure. I'm going to guess Tully makes his big return, though I'm sure you have a really good surprise waiting for us if it isn't him!</p>

WCW SATURDAY NIGHT!

Saturday Week 1 February 1991

Location: Pyramid Arena (South East)

Attendance: 19,141

Overall Rating: B+

TV Rating: 3.77

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_1991/RicFlair.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_1991/ArnAnderson.jpghttp://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_1991/BarryWindham.jpg

[WCW Saturday Night opens up inside The Pyramid Arena in Memphis, Tennessee to a large crowd ready for WCW action! The crowd begins to boo as '2001' begins to play and out from the back walks Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Barry Windham. The three men who make up the Four Horsemen ignore the catcalls from the crowd, entering the ring. Flair has the microphone first and says that he heard that there's a party tonight in Memphis, Tennessee. Whooo! That party will be a celebration that the Four Horsemen have returned to WCW. Ric Flair says that there is only one man he had in mind to be a Horseman. This is someone that can wear the custom made suits. This is a man who can party all night long like the Horsemen always do. This is a man who can style and profile with the best of them. As the leader of the Horsemen, Flair says that he is going to let Arn Anderson make the announcement. Anderson takes the microphone and he says that all three of them talked together to come to this conclusion. He says that the man who is going to come down to the ring epitomizes the best attributes that make a Horseman. Without further ado, Anderson says he would like to welcome out to the ring none other than...]

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_1991/TullyBlanchard.jpg

[Tully Blanchard! The crowd boos as Blanchard walks out from the back raising four fingers in a IV Horsemen shirt. The second generation wrestler enters the ring and shakes hands with Barry Windham, hugs his former partner Arn Anderson and shakes hands with Ric Flair. Blanchard is given the microphone and he says it feels great to be back among the elite in professional wrestling. He says that these three men are the only three men that could possibly join him as brothers. More importantly, these three men are the only three men he would trust to watch his back at War Games. He says that the Four Horsemen are always going to be at the top. He says that he knows his brother, Arn Anderson, will win the World Television title tournament. He says that he knows his brother Barry Windham is going to become the next United States Champion. He says that he knows that Ric Flair, the leader of the Horsemen, is going to take back what is rightfully his, the NWA World Heavyweight title. He also knows that he and Double A are going to win the tag titles, giving the Horsemen all the titles in the NWA, which is the way that it should be. All four men throw up the four fingers as the music for the Horsemen begins to play. The crowd has some lingering cheers among the boos as the four men walk toward the back together. The Horsemen ride again in WCW.]

NWA World Television Title Tournament Match

Semifinals

15 Minute Time Limit Match

Michael Wallstreet vs. Owen Hart

[One of these two men will be headed to the finals of the NWA World Television title tournament. With Michael Wallstreet's entrance, we are given a brief promo between Wallstreet and Alexandra York. York promises that Wallstreet will win in less than thirteen minutes. The match itself is strictly a technical contest between the two wrestlers. Owen Hart has a slight advantage when it comes to high flying. This shows in the early going when he catches Wallstreet with a moonsault that surprisingly only scores a two count. Hart looks surprised but York distracts him, allowing the advantage to go to Michael Wallstreet. Wallstreet whips Hart into a turnbuckle and runs in, catching Hart with a back elbow. Wallstreet brings Hart over with a snap mare and then a hard kick to the back. Wallstreet locks Hart in an abdominal stretch and uses the ropes for added leverage when the referee is not looking. After almost getting caught twice, Wallstreet gets caught the third time. He argues with the referee, resulting in Wallstreet taking a hip toss from Hart. Both men are slow to get to their feet. Hart throws some punches to Wallstreet and then kicks at Wallstreet. Wallstreet catches the leg and Hart catches Wallstreet with an enzuigiri. Hart gets the crowd pumped up and he exits to the apron, climbing the top turnbuckle. Wallstreet slowly makes it to his feet -- Missile Dropkick! Hart hits the Missile Dropkick! He goes in for the cover, hooking the leg: One, Two, Three! Owen Hart is headed to the finals of the NWA World Television title tournament!]

Winner: Owen Hart (Via Pinfall @ 10:08)

Match Rating: B-

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/shawkes/WCW_1991/BigVanVader.jpg

[We head down to the interview area where Eric Bischoff is standing by. Bischoff calls out to the interview area, the 7'7" Argentinian wrestler El Gigante! Bischoff shakes hands with the man who dwarfs him right now. Bischoff asks El Gigante what it's been like being here in WCW. In broken english, Gigante says he is happy to be here in WCW. He says that this is a dream of his that has finally come true. Bischoff doesn't get to ask any more questions as they are interrupted by the presence of Big Van Vader. Even the large Big Van Vader has to look up when he comes across El Gigante. Vader says that he destroyed El Gigante last week to prove that he is the man around here. Gigante says that he got in some good shots last week. Vader answers those words by nailing Gigante with a forearm shot. Gigante fires back with a punch! Vader throws another forearm! The two men battle back and forth with neither man backing down. Officials and security come running in to separate these two large men. The officials get thrown to the side as Vader rushes in and hits El Gigante with a body block. Security grabs Vader, pulling him backward. Officials hold back El Gigante. These two men will meet at WrestleWar one on one!]

NWA World Television Title Tournament Match

Semifinals

15 Minute Time Limit Match

Arn Anderson vs. Sid Vicious

[This is the second semifinal match to determine who will face Owen Hart next week for the NWA World Television title. When the two men enter the ring and go face-to-face, Arn Anderson tells Sid Vicious to lay down on the mat. Anderson says that the Horsemen let Vicious live so he owes them, owes Double A. Vicious seems to be thinking about this for a moment. Then he drops to a knee before laying back on the mat. The fans are unhappy with this decision, booing Vicious. Anderson lays with his back on Vicious as the referee counts: One, Two, Vicious grabs Anderson, turning him over with Anderson's shoulders on the mat: One, Two, Kickout! Vicious nearly scores the victory over The Enforcer! With the match having two bad guys, the fans are split as the match moves forward to see who they want to face Owen Hart next week. Vicious catches Anderson with a sidewalk slam during the middle portion of the match, scoring a two count. He sends Anderson to the ropes and then lifts him in a military press slam, sending Anderson down hard to the mat. Vicious calls for the Power Bomb but gets distracted by the music for Lex Luger playing in the background. Vicious turns his attention to the aisle, waiting for The Total Package but Luger doesn't show. Instead, Vicious turns and catches a kick to the gut -- Anderson DDT! Anderson turns Vicious over and makes the cover, hooking the tights: One, Two, Three! Arn Anderson is headed to the finals to take on Owen Hart for the NWA World Television title!]

Winner: Arn Anderson (Via Pinfall @ 8:03)

[A pre-taped interview begins to play focusing on the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Sting! Sting begins by saying that, just like everyone else, he was in absolute shock when Rick Rude made his return last week. But, just like everyone else, Rude wants what he's got, the NWA World Heavyweight title. But that brings him to tonight and his non title match with someone that he knows so well in Ric Flair. He asks Flair if something changed between Starrcade and today that will make a different outcome come about. He says that he beat Flair masquerading as the Black Scorpion and he will beat Flair again tonight regardless of the Four Horsemen becoming four men again. Sting says that tonight is going to be showtime! Owww! He flexes as he stands before the WCW background and we cut away.]

10 Minute Time Limit Match

Larry Zbyszko and Bobby Eaton vs. The Lightning Express

[Our third match of the evening features two members of the Dangerous Alliance against the speed of The Lightning Express. The match is almost completely dominated by Zbyszko and Eaton. Early in the match, Eaton catches Tim Horner with a swinging neckbreaker, scoring a two count on a pinfall attempt. He tags in Zbyszko and Zbyszko locks Horner in an abdominal stretch. Zbyszko reaches out and grabs the hand of Eaton, gathering more leverage but releasing before the referee catches him. In comes Brad Armstrong to complain but this makes the referee turn his back on the action to move Armstrong back to his corner. During this time, Eaton comes in and Zbyszko releases the stretch, bringing Horner down with a drop toehold. Eaton bounces off the ropes and drops a leg on the back of Horner's head. The referee turns around as Eaton makes the cover: One, Two, Kickout! Horner manages to get enough separation to make the tag to Brad Armstrong. Armstrong comes in with dropkicks to both Eaton and Zbyszko. Armstrong gets the crowd fired up, knocking Eaton back into a corner. He climbs up to start punching but Zbyszko comes in and yanks him down. Zbyszko kicks Armstrong in the gut -- Piledriver! Bobby Eaton heads to the top turnbuckle -- Alabama Jam! Eaton makes the cover: One, Two, Three!]

[The same video that played on WCW Power Hour last night begins to play here on WCW Saturday Night. Kevin Sullivan is shown walking along a yellow brick road. Flying Monkeys can be seen flying around him and a large castle is looming in the distance. The castle is dark but all around the castle there is more light. It is as if the castle itself is absorbing all light that comes near it. All around Kevin Sullivan, Oompa Loompas bounce around, shouting Follow The Yellow Brick Road! Sullivan disappears into a dark and looming forest to end the video. The Oompa Loompas all snicker darkly before following him into the dark forest. Where is Kevin Sullivan going? Make sure you tune in next week to find out more information as there will be a second video.]

Non-Title Match

10 Minute Time Limit Match

Doom vs. Keith Hart and The Italian Stallion

[Our fourth match of the night is the beginning of the Doom Challenge from WCW Saturday Night. The unusual team of Keith Hart and The Italian Stallion take on Doom. If Hart and Stallion can win this match, they would receive a NWA World Tag Team title shot. This is a bout that didn't have much heat to it as most simply assumed the victory would go to Doom. But Hart and Stallion showed some great chemistry teaming together in this contest. In the ring, Reed focuses his attention on The Italian Stallion, bringing him down with a short-arm clothesline. Reed tags in Ron Simmons and the two men bring down The Italian Stallion with a double shoulderblock. Simmons yanks up Stallion and brings him over with a belly-to-back suplex. Simmons gets some advice from Teddy Long and then yanks up Stallion, pushing him into the corner of Doom. He tags back out to Butch Reed and the two men begin kicking Italian Stallion again and again until he's crushed down in the corner. Reed tosses Stallion to the center of the ring and then climbs to the second turnbuckle -- Diving Shoulderblock! Ron Simmons runs in and clotheslines Keith Hart off the apron. Reed makes the cover on Stallion: One, Two, Three! Doom picks up the victory this week.]

[When the ring is cleared, Gordon Solie walks out and steps in the ring. He says that this week he is out here to introduce two members of the Dangerous Alliance. So he welcomes out Rick Rude and his manager Paul E. Dangerously. Rude and Dangerously walk out from the back, entering the ring. Rude grabs the microphone and shoves Gordon Solie to the side. He looks to the audience with a sneer curling his lips upward. He says that what he would like to have right now is for all of you fat, out-of-shape, Memphis, Tennessee rednecks to keep the noise down while he takes his robe off and shows them exactly what a real man is supposed to look like. He hands the microphone off to Dangerously and then unties the robe, swiveling his hips to boos from the crowd. With the microphone in his hand, Dangerously says that last week he introduced Sting to the man who is going to take his NWA World Heavyweight title. He says that this man is the future reigning, defending NWA World Heavyweight Champion. This man is not only the best looking professional wrestler in the world, he is the best wrestler in the world. He hands the microphone over to Rude for a few words as we can see Gordon Solie just exiting the ring and heading up the ramp. Rude says that when he first spoke with Paul E. Dangerously, he was skeptical about coming to the land of rednecks. But when he heard about a title shot that was something that he couldn't turn down. He says that at WrestleWar there is going to be a new WCW World Heavyweight Champion and that champion is going to be simply Ravishing. He drops the microphone and does another hip swivel before exiting with Paul E.]

20 Minute Time Limit Match

Barry Windham vs. Ricky Steamboat

[Our semi main event match is a contest that could be the main event anywhere in the world as one member of the Horsemen, Barry Windham, steps in the ring with the leader of Steamboat's Squadron, Ricky Steamboat. The Dragon comes out strong in the early goings of the match, catching Windham off-guard with several arm drags and then locking in an armbar on Windham. Windham eventually fights his way up to his feet, grabbing the hair of Steamboat and dragging him back into a corner. Windham drives several knees into the gut of Steamboat before bringing him over with a snap mare. Windham pulls up Steamboat and catches him with a gutwrench suplex, bringing Steamboat to the mat. Windham looks in the nearest corner and raises four fingers. He turns his attention back to Steamboat and continues his control over The Dragon. Windham tosses Steamboat through the ropes to the floor and then follows him out to ringside. He waits for Steamboat to pull himself up and then strikes with a lariat outside the ring. He jaws with a fan at ringside before turning his attention back to Steamboat. He tosses Steamboat back in the ring and Windham joins him inside. Windham puts the boots to Steamboat and then picks him up, dropping him with a scoop slam. Windham adjusts the glove on his right hand and then locks a Clawhold on Steamboat, holding him down to the mat. Steamboat keeps his shoulders up but Windham squeezes on Steamboat's temples with the Clawhold. The crowd gets solidly behind The Dragon, clapping and stomping their feet. Steamboat begins getting the second wind, pulling himself to his feet. He begins throwing punches, breaking the clawhold. The two men charge at each other and a double clothesline sends both men to the mat.]

[The referee begins to count both men down on the mat. Ricky Steamboat is the first man to get to his feet, coming over and pulling up Barry Windham. He shoves Windham to a corner and lays into him with chops. The Dragon pulls out Windham and locks in a crucifix style pin: One, Two, Kickout! The Dragon charges Windham with a clothesline but Windham ducks. Steamboat bounces off the ropes and then leaps with a cross body but Windham catches him and brings him down in a backbreaker. The crowd boos as Windham stands on his feet and continues an assault on Steamboat. At one point, Windham tosses Steamboat over the top rope but Steamboat skins the cat. Steamboat pulls himself back up and into the ring. Windham turns to face The Dragon and Steamboat goes for a dropkick but Windham sidesteps, pushing Steamboat down to the mat. Windham looks to the turnbuckles and grabs Steamboat. He walks over to a corner and lifts Steamboat up on the top turnbuckle. He calls for the Superplex before climbing up top and hooking The Dragon. Steamboat blocks The Superplex! Windham tries again but Steamboat blocks again! Steamboat throws some punches and forearm shots. It's a chop that knocks Windham down to the mat. Steamboat takes a moment and then climbs up to the top turnbuckle. Windham slowly begins to stand and Steamboat leaps -- Diving Cross Body! Steamboat hooks the leg:]

[With the crowd happy at the win by Ricky Steamboat, we move to a pre-taped promo with Lex Luger and Nikita Koloff standing in front of a WCW logo background. Luger begins by saying that they are not afraid of The Skyscrapers and they have proven it time and time again. He says that he would like to make the challenge for WrestleWar for a rematch between The Skyscrapers, himself and Nikita Koloff. The only caveat there would be that there has to be a winner by pinfall or submission. This means that they will prove who is the best. Nikita Koloff turns to Luger and reminds him that Luger promised him a title shot for coming in to help against The Skyscrapers. Luger says that he knows that but right now they need to focus on Sid Vicious or Dan Spivey. Koloff agrees about that for now. He says that Vicious and Spivey are going to feel the Russian might at WrestleWar. If they accept the challenge, then it will be in a match. If they do not accept the challenge, then the fight will be backstage. He says that they will feel the Russian Nightmare. Koloff and Luger flex as we head to the ring for our main event.]

Non-Title Match

20 Minute Time Limit Match

Ric Flair vs. Sting

[What a main event we have this evening as we see Ric Flair taking on the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Sting in a non-title match. These two veterans of the squared circle step face-to-face in the middle of the ring. Flair releases a 'Whooo' in the face of Sting and Sting responds with an 'Owww!' that knocks Flair back into a corner. Flair looks at Sting for a moment and then struts along one side of the ring. The two men lock up and the power of Sting is shown when he takes control, pushing Flair back into a corner. The referee calls for a clean break but Flair has never been one to listen to a referee. He turns things around and laces Sting's chest with a knife-edge chop! Sting just looks at Flair for a moment. Flair throws another chop and another. Sting responds by flexing and releasing a howl! Flair takes a few steps back and raises his hands, begging off from Sting. But Sting follows him right back into another corner where the NWA World Heavyweight Champion throws some straight right hands. Sting lowers down and sends several shoulders into the ribs of Flair. He backs up and Irish whips Flair to the ropes. Flair comes back and Sting picks him up in a press slam, sending Flair down to the mat. The announcers talk about Flair's back injuries, stemming from a plane accident in 1975. Flair pulls himself up and Sting moves in but Flair rakes him in the eyes. A blinded Sting staggers a moment and Flair strikes with a chop block to the knee, sending Sting down to the mat. Flair backs up and bounces off the ropes -- jumping knee drop on Sting. Flair pulls him in the center of the ring and makes the cover:]

..Kickout!]

[Ric Flair stands up and turns his attention to the knee of the man called Sting. Not surprising to anyone that the next few minutes are spent with Flair in control. Flair stomps hard on the knee and then drapes it across the bottom rope. Flair leaps and sits down on the knee while Sting cries out in pain. Sting holds his knee as Flair struts. Flair turns his attention back to Sting, picking him up and dropping him with a shinbreaker. The Nature Boy picks up Sting and leans him up against a corner. Flair laces into Sting's chest with a knife-edge chop and that chop has a lot more sting than the ones he threw earlier. Flair gets in three knife-edge chops before Sting staggers away from the corner. Sting grabs his knee, sucking in some air as Flair moves in from behind him and trips him to the mat. Flair locks in a kneebar on the knee of Sting. The referee asks Sting if he wants to submit but Sting refuses as the crowd gets completely behind him. Flair releases the kneebar and pulls up Sting. A chant of 'Sting' begins in the crowd as the fans try to give him some momentum. Flair backs Sting in a corner and Irish whips him across to the other. Sting bounces out of that corner and takes down Flair with a clothesline! Sting bounces on one leg as Flair gets up. Sting grabs Flair and sends him into a corner -- Flair flips up and over the turnbuckle, landing on the apron. Flair charges along the apron and climbs to the top turnbuckle where Sting is staggering to meet him. Flair leaps but catches a punch to the gut instead. Flair takes in deep breaths, moving into a corner to keep himself up. Sting backs into the opposite corner -- Stinger Splash! Sting grimaces, grabbing his knee in pain as Flair flops to the mat. Sting grabs the legs of Flair -- Scorpion Deathlock! Sting has the hold locked on and Flair shakes his head, refusing to quit. Sting leans back but someone enters the ring. It's Arn Anderson! The Enforcer grabs Sting -- Anderson DDT! The referee immediately calls for the bell.]

[The Four Horsemen pile into the ring and attack Sting! But Sting has some help this week! Here come The Steiner Brothers and Ricky Steamboat! It's a wild pier six brawl between these eight men in the ring! All four corners of the ring are filled with humanity as Ric Flair and Sting are doing battle, Arn Anderson and Ricky Steamboat are fighting, Rick Steiner is hitting Barry Windham with several Steinerlines, Tully Blanchard is striking Scott Steiner in the final corner. The crowd is definitely on the side of Steamboat's Squadron. Suddenly, Brian Pillman explodes from the back with tape around his ribs from the attack last week by the Four Horsemen. Brian Pillman climbs on the apron and leaps into the ring with an Air Pillman that takes down Ric Flair! Pillman gives Steamboat's Squadron the one man advantage and that is enough to tip the scales. The Four Horsemen are all sent out of the ring, including Sting clotheslining Ric Flair over the top rope to the floor. The five men in the ring celebrate as the Four Horsemen regroup outside the ring. A staredown ensues between the two sides as the show comes to a close. We'll see you next week for the WCW Power Hour!]

Prediction Contest

This one is going to be run a little bit differently for me. Instead of every three months as I usually do, I will be running the prediction contest every single month. This could change as we move forward but right now I think this will be a fun way to do things.

For those of you who might be new to my diaries and the way I handle prediction contests, here is a brief breakdown. The person or people who score the most correct in their predictions each week receive one win. These wins will reset at the end of the month which is the end of the prediction contest cycle.

2. Crossface=0 Wins

20 Minute Time Limit Match

Barry Windham vs. Ricky Steamboat

Comments: Barry is kind of the third wheel on Horsemen after Flair and Arn and thus is likely to take some tough losses and this will likely be one of those.

Prediction For Newest Member Of The Four Horsemen: It´s probably going to be some new face but since I have no idea who would be available I just say Stan Hansen simply because he´s one of the few bigger names who don´t seem to have anything much going on.

Unfortunately, Barry is kind of the third wheel right now. Though the third wheel on the Horsemen is better than being the fourth wheel on many other teams/units.

That was an interesting guess on the new Horsemen member. Unfortunately for most, I have to say that I have released The Lariat to AJPW. He was unable to wrestle on my shows due to his commitments to All Japan. I know it would eventually happen in real life, anyway, so I just sped up the process.

Prediction For Newest Member Of The Four Horsemen: AP McCoy. What a horse man he was. Twenty one times champion jump jockey.

You know, I almost chose him too. He was one of my final candidates for Horsemen material. :D

<p>Owen Hart - <em>I'm going to assume that you're able to keep Owen, that the WWF didn't come for him. "Double A" is more suited to go after the US or Tag titles really, so Hart gets the win of his life by taking this home.</em></p><p>

This is the finals of the NWA World Television title tournament that sees Arn Anderson take on Owen Hart. When the bell sounds, Anderson walks toward Hart and shoves four fingers in Hart's face. Hart slaps Anderson's hand away and begins throwing some punches. Then he hits Anderson with a dropkick, having Anderson crawl backward in the corner, calling for a timeout. Anderson pulls himself up and meets Hart in the center of the ring. The two men talk for a moment and then lock up. Anderson manages to grab a wristlock on Hart and focuses his attention on the right arm of Owen Hart. The next few minutes are spent with Anderson focusing on that right arm. Anderson locks a hammerlock on Hart and then picks him up -- Hammerlock Body Slam. Anderson makes a cover: One, Two, Kickout! Anderson works on Hart, keeping him grounded on the mat. The Enforcer lifts Hart and brings him back down on the mat with a single arm DDT. Hart grabs the right arm, writhing in pain. Anderson stands up and begins to stomp Hart on the shoulder and then the wrist. Anderson yanks Hart up and sends him to the ropes -- Spinning Spinebuster! Anderson drags his thumb across his throat and then makes the cover, hooking the leg as the referee drops down to make the count:]</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> [....1....</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> ....2....</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> ...Shoulder Up!]</span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> </span></em></p><p><em><span style="font-family:TAHOMA;"> [Around the eleven minute mark is when things begin shifting toward the favor of Owen Hart. Arn Anderson locks on a rear chinlock and the fans get solidly in the corner of Hart. Hart begins to work his way to his feet. He twists in the rear chinlock and brings Anderson down with a belly-to-back suplex. Both men lie on the mat for a few long moments before they begin to stir. When they reach their feet, Hart begins to speed up the tempo. He catches Anderson with a dropkick. He motions to the crowd before striking Anderson with the enzuigiri! Anderson drops on the mat and Hart goes up to the top turnbuckle. Hart leaps from the top -- diving headbutt! That move was taken from the playbook of The Dynamite Kid. Hart gets to his feet and pulls up Anderson. He swings around behind the Enforcer -- German Suplex! Hart holds the bridge: One, Two, Kickout! Hart swings up to his feet and uses some catlike agility to get to the top turnbuckle. Hart waits for Anderson to get to his feet. Hart leaps and Anderson avoids the Missile Dropkick! Hart hits the mat hard on the back of his head. Anderson picks up Hart and sends him to the ropes, lowering his head -- Hart flips over Anderson and brings him down with a trip from behind. Hart quickly leaps to the top turnbuckle, waiting for Anderson to get to his feet for the second time -- Missile Dropkick! The Missile Dropkick connects on The Enforcer! Scott Steiner says that men have gone into War Games and they've never been the same again. Teams like The Midnight Express, The Road Warriors and The Fabulous Freebirds. But that's what they are prepared for. They are ready to go into war and come out on the other side with a victory. The match is a very slow, plodding match. It almost seems that it was to calm the crowd a little bit during the show. The match is dominated by the two men who will be entering War Games at WrestleWar 1991. Rick Steiner catches Lt. James Earl Wright with an early Steinerline and then an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Scott comes in and shows his ability when he sends Wright to the ropes and catches him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. In comes the Sarge and he is caught by Scott and thrown with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Scott turns his attention back to Wright and shows his power with a delayed vertical suplex on the Lieutenant. Scott calls for the ending and tags in big brother Rick. Rick heads to the top turnbuckle while Scott lifts Wright in the electric chair position. He turns facing away from his brother and Rick comes flying off the top turnbuckle with a top rope bulldog on Wright! The move known as The Steinerizer plants Wright on the mat.
