Shawn Michaels - <em>HBK needs to lose the Euro title, but it won't be to Vader.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Not really much to comment on yet because you're just getting started, and I can't think of any signs or chants yet, but I'll use that feature down the line.</p>

"The following contest is scheduled for one fall, because once the old geezers that are about to come down that aisle fall once, they will not be able to get back up. Introducing first, from wherever we damn well please, your WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS OF THE WORRRLLLDD, The Road Dogg, Jesse James, Bad-Ass Billy Gunn, The New Age Outlaws!"

WWF Tag Team Championship

The New Age Outlaws © vs The Legion Of Doom

The Legion Of Doom come down the ramp, obviously in no mood for the jokes the Outlaws are flinging at them as they hit the ring and chase the Tag Team Champions from it. Road Dogg feigns like he's going to enter on one side, so that Billy can sneak in and attack Animal from the back, but when Hawk tries to attack Billy, he leaves so that Road Dogg can hit Hawk and send him from the ring. This leaves Road Dogg and Animal as the two legal men to start the contest, and allows Dogg to isolate Animal on his side of the ring. The Tag Team Champions take turns attacking Animal, making use of quick tags and some underhanded tactics to keep the former champion away from his partner. At one point, he's choked out with the tag rope while Road Dogg distracts the referee, causing Hawk to enter the ring and try to put a stop to it, which only further distracts the referee and secures the advantage for the Champions.

Eventually, the Outlaws send Animal into the ropes, allowing him to hit a shoulder tackle on both at the same time and send Billy from the ring. He finally makes a tag to Hawk, who clotheslines Road Dogg down to the mat. Billy enters and gets a backdrop. Road Dogg is up just in time for a powerslam and Hawk lifts him up on his shoulders. Animal goes up top for the Doomsday Device, but Billy pulls his ankle and crotches him on the top rope. Road Dogg hits a backdrop on Hawk before both Outlaws hit a Double Superplex on Animal on top of his partner.

Road Dogg tags in Gunn, who hits the ropes for the Fame-Ass-Er and presumed victory, but Hawk has recovered enough that he's able to turn it into a Powerbomb instead. Hawk and Gunn both tag their respective partners in at the same time, with Animal ducking Dogg's attack, knocking Gunn out from the ring, and then slamming Road Dogg to the mat. The crowd is solidly behind The Legion Of Doom at this point, wanting to see the Tag Team Championships change hands. Once more, Road Dogg is lifted up into the air, presumably for a Doomsday Device, but Gunn pulls Hawk off the ring apron before it can even be thought about, sending him into the steel ring steps. Road Dogg slides behind Animal, rolling him up and hooking the tights. 1...2...3!

As The New Age Outlaws grab their titles and beat a hasty retreat up the ramp, we're taken to a backstage interview, as Sunny stands by with 'Marvelous' Marc Mero, and Sable.

http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj571/andylion/WWF%201997/MarcMero.jpghttp://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj571/andylion/WWF%201997/Sable.jpg

Sunny:

So, Marc, what are your thoughts on--

Mero (stealing the microphone from Sunny's hand):

If you'll excuse me, Sunny, I have something I want to say to my beautiful, charming, lovely valet, Sable. Sable...it's all YOUR fault that I don't have a match tonight! If you weren't such a monumental screw-up, I could be the WWF Champion by now. But you're more focused on looking good for all of these fat, useless, piece of crap fans that couldn't give a damn less about you than making sure that your man is able to win the championships I deserve.

http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj571/andylion/WWF%201997/SteveBlackman.jpg

Blackman:

Now, Marc, I may be new around here, and I may not exactly know how things are done. But I do know that that is no way to speak to a woman. Especially one as beautiful as Sable.

Mero:

Yeah, Blackman? If you've got a problem with the way I treat my property, why don't you meet me in that ring tonight?

Without waiting for an answer, Mero grabs Sable by her wrist and drags her away.

Disciples Of Apocalypse w/ Chainz vs Los Boricuas

Los Boricuas mount the motorcycles of the Disciples Of Apocalypse at ringside to start the match, angering 8-Ball and Skull. They attack their opponents on the outside of the ring and it seems to have been a mistake by Los Boricuas, until they send Skull into the steel steps and this allows them to isolate 8-Ball in the ring.

The Boricuas work 8-Ball over, and things look bleak for the biker as he's isolated in his opponents' corner. Eventually, he's able to fight out of the corner and make his way to Skull, who comes in like a house of fire, ducking under Savio Vega to knock Miguel off the apron. Though Vega is able to fight back against Skull, the tag to 8-Ball allowed the Disciples Of Apocalypse to hit a Double DDT on Vega to pick up the victory and end this feud.

Match Rating: D+

Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler go over the events from earlier in the night that lead into our next match, which will see Marc Mero take on Steve Blackman.

http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj571/andylion/WWF%201997/SteveBlackman.jpghttp://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj571/andylion/WWF%201997/IYH.jpghttp://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj571/andylion/WWF%201997/MarcMero.jpghttp://rs1268.pbsrc.com/albums/jj571/andylion/WWF%201997/Sable.jpg~c100

'The Lethal Weapon' Steve Blackman vs 'Marvelous' Marc Mero w/ Sable

Mero offers to lock up with Blackman in the beginning of this match, but retreats when Blackman starts to throw strikes in Mero's direction. Mero goes so far as to bail from the ring completely, leading Steve in a chase around the outside of the ring until Mero slides in to hit a dropkick on The Lethal Weapon and take a cheap advantage of the match. Mero hits several stiff strikes to Blackman before taking him down to the mat and applying a chinlock, which Steve fights out of with strikes of his own. Blackman takes Mero down with a backdrop and follows it up with several strikes and kicks to take the momentum from "marvelous" Marc Mero.

Sable watches from ringside, and the crowd seems to be more into her than the match itself, as a "Sable" chant starts up among them. They liven up a bit for the match as Blackman gets in a flurry of offense, which Mero puts a stop to with a thumb to the eye and a DDT that only earns him a two count. In spite of how dangerous his opponent is, Mero spends a lot of time taunting both Blackman himself and the fans in attendance, though he peppers in strikes and suplexes between the taunts to make sure that he maintains control of the match. Sable tells Mero to be careful and says he should finish the match, causing Marc to argue with Sable and allowing Blackman to roll him up from behind. 1...2...no, Mero kicks out. Several kicks, an axe handle to the chest, and a dropkick gain Blackman the upper hand once more.

Mero grabs the referee's pant leg while he's on the ground, pulling on it and arguing with the official, telling him that he's got something in his eye and can't continue. While this is going on, Blackman is hit with a low blow from Sable! Mero suddenly recovers and hits Steve with the TKO, following it up with a cover for the 1...2...3!

We go backstage to D-Generation X, whom Jim Ross interviews abotu the upcoming WWF Championship match. Ross asks if Michaels is afraid of Ken Shamrock, to which Michaels replies with the following:

Shawn Michaels:

Listen here, Girth Brooks. Let's get one thing straight. I'm the Showstopper. The Heartbreak Kid. The main event. The man that ran Bret Hart out of the WWF. And, not to mention, the WWF Champion. So if you think for one second that I'm afraid of little old Kenny Shamrock, you're even stupider than ya look. And let me just say, that is quite the accomplishment. Now, you fat tub of goo, do you have any other stupid questions, or am I free to go get ready for my match? Actually, you know what? I'm gonna go ahead and decide this interview is over. And if you've got a problem with that, you can suck it.

WWF European Championship

'The Bizarre One' Goldust w/ Luna vs Vader ©

After winning the European Championship the past Monday on RAW, Vader looks to maintain his momentum in this grudge match with Goldust. This one starts out with Vader laying into Goldust with rights and lefts before eventually sending him out of the ring with a clothesline over the top rope. Goldust is given a pep talk of sorts on the outside as Luna yells in his face, slapping him several times before sending him back into the ring. Strangely enough, this seems to have worked as Goldust lures Vader into the ropes and drives his throat into them, allowing him to take the champion down with a neckbreaker.

Goldust does his signature taunt in Vader's face as he gets to his knees, prompting Vader to slap him down to the mat. Goldust seems to enjoy himself as he's stomped on by The Mastodon, including making some very suggestive noises. Vader ignores the attempted mind games, though, by lifting up the challenger and slamming him down to the mat hard. Vader hits the ropes and splashes Goldust, but the cover attempt only gets a 2.

Vader drives Goldust into the corner and assaults him there before eventually charging at the number one contender. The Bizarre One moves out of the way, sending Vader into the corner sternum-first. The rollup that follows only gets a two, but leaves Vader on the mat for Goldust to dropkick him in the head. Goldust mounts Vader and punches him several times in the face as Luna yells at him from ringside, culminating in that deep breath taunt in Vader's face once more. Goldust tries to send Vader into the ropes, but it's countered. As Goldust rebounds, Vader sets for a backdrop and is hit with a throat thrust in exchange. Goldust hooks Vader's legs on the ropes in the corner, but the referee gets in the way of Shattered Dreams. While he and Goldust argue, Luna rakes her nails in the eyes of Vader.

Vader comes out of the turnbuckle, allowing Goldust to lift him for the Curtain Call, covering Vader to end his short-lived European Championship run.

Backstage, the Legion of Doom are talking in their locker room, and tensions are obviously high following their loss earlier in the evening to the New Age Outlaws.

Animal:

Next time you're gonna bail on me in the middle of a Doomsday Device, let me know, so it doesn't cost us the tag team championship!

Hawk:

Cost us the titles? I was pulled off and thrown into the steel steps. You'd know that if you took your head out of your ass long enough to look around!

Animal:

Look, let's just...drop it. We're the Legion of Doom, damn it. We're better than this. We just gotta regroup and try things one more time.

The two leave together, but the tension between the two is obvious.

In another part of the arena, Steve Austin is interviewed about The Rock and asked his thoughts on defending the Intercontinental Championship against him later in the evening.

http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj571/andylion/WWF%201997/SteveAustin.jpg

Steve Austin:

You wanna know my thoughts on The Rock? Well, let me just say one thing right now. The Rock can bring Farooq. He can bring D-Lo brown. He can bring Kama Mustafa. He can bring anybody he damn well wants. Because at the end of the night, he's gonna step into that ring with Stone Cold Steve Austin one on one for the Intercontinental Championship. He's gonna get a mudhole stomped in his ass, and it's gonna be walked dry, and I'm gonna walk out with MY Intercontinental Championship. AND THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE, because Stone Cold said so!

Light Heavyweight Championship

'The Prince' Brian Christopher vs Taka Michinoku

These two meet in the middle of the ring with a collar-and-elbow tie-up, which sees Christopher pull Taka into a side headlock before taking him down to the mat. Michinoku wraps his legs around the head of Christopher, who flips over Taka into a pinning combination. Taka bridges out, and the two go back to a standing position, from which Christopher takes a cheap chop to the chest, driving Taka back into the corner. Brian whips Taka across the ring, but when he follows, Taka gets his feet up into the Prince's face.

Taka goes to the middle rope and hits a crossbody, covering Christopher for the two count. The crowd is behind the foreign superstar as he hits the ropes, only to be hit with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker by his opponent. Christopher stretches Michinoku out over his knee, slowing the pace down until Taka hits several knees to the head to fight out. Taka manages a suplex on Christopher, who rolls out of the ring to put some space between the two of them. This, of course, was a mistake, as Taka gets a running start, springboards off the middle rope, and hits a spectactular crossbody to the outside.

Both men will obviously do whatever it takes to become the first ever WWF Light Heavyweight Champion, and Taka rolls Christopher into the ring, only for the Prince to stomp on him as he tries to enter. Once again, Brian slows the pace down by putting Taka in an Octopus Stretch. Eventually, Taka is able to get to the ropes, only for Christopher to break the hold and slam him to the mat. The Prince climbs to the top rope, looking for the Tennessee Jam. Michinoku is able to recover in time to hit the ropes, crotching Christopher on the top rope. Jim Ross makes a comment about Lawler not being a grandfather now as Taka climbs and hits a Hurricanrana off the top rope on Brian Christopher!

1...2...no, Christopher kicks out! Michinoku signals that this match is about to be over, lifting Christopher up into the air for a Michinoku Driver...

http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj571/andylion/WWF%201997/ScottTaylor.jpg

Scott Taylor makes his way down the ramp, and he's distracting Taka! Michinoku argues with Taylor long enough that Christopher is able to slide out the back, rolling Michinoku up. Brian puts his feet on the middle rope, but the referee doesn't see it as he counts 1...2...3!

After a recap of the last match's finish, The Rock and the rest of the Nation Of Domination come down the ramp. The Rock, with the Intercontinental Championship on his shoulder, takes a microphone to address the audience and his opponent tonight.

The Rock:

Steve Austin wants to pretend like this title belt belongs to him? Well, news flash, Austin, The Rock took a poll of the people, and they all agree that I'm the best damn Intercontinental Champion of all time. If you think that you have a chance to take The Rock's Intercontinental Championship, then come on down, but The Rock promises you that will be the biggest mistake of your stupid life.

Intercontinental Championship

The Rock [w/ The Nation Of Domination] vs 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin ©

Glass shatters and Stone Cold makes his way down to the ring. He's obviously not afraid of The Rock or any other member of The Nation, as he slides right into the ring and starts throwing right hands. Farooq gets a Stone Cold Stunner that sends him out of the ring. Kama Mustafa gets the same, as The Rock watches from the outside. D'Lo Brown gets sent over the top rope by the Intercontinental Champion, only for The Rock to slide into the ring and attack Stone Cold from behind, knocking him to the mat. The Rock puts the boots to Austin before putting him in a side headlock. Rocky talks trash to Austin while he's in the hold until Austin stands up, sending Rock running the ropes. Austin ducks under a Rock clothesline and instead hits a Thesz Press, raining punches down onto the number one contender.

D'Lo distracts the referee from the outside, allowing Kama Mustafa to clobber Austin from behind, knocking him to the mat. The Rock recovers and tosses Austin from the ring and, while the referee is busy arguing with him, The Nation attacks Austin on the outside, sending him into the steel steps before Farooq hits a Dominator on the floor. The Rock rolls Austin into the ring and covers him, but only for a two count. Rocky hits Austin with a shoulder breaker and locks in an arm bar, working the shoulder that The Nation worked over on the outside.

Stone Cold fights to his feet, only to be put back down with a Side Russian Leg Sweep. The Rock is at the peak of his cockiness by this point, stomping on Austin and mocking him until Steve fights back to his feet with left hands, protecting his right shoulder. Austin sends Rock into the ropes with his left arm, tries to send him across the ring, and is reversed. Spinebuster, and The Rock sets up for a theatric elbow drop, only for Austin to move out of the way. The Intercontinental Champion hits the ropes, drops an elbow of his own, and talks trash in Rock's face. Stone Cold goes for a Stunner when The Rock stands up, but Rocky pushes him away into the ropes. Farooq hits Austin in the back, and the referee sees it, ejecting The Nation of Domination from ringside!

While The Rock argues with the referee, Austin recovers from the attack. He goes for another Stone Cold Stunner, but is once more pushed away by The Rock, who tries to flee from the ring. Austin grabs him by the tights, but the referee tries to seperate them. Stone Cold shoves him away, not knowing that The Rock has grabbed the Intercontinental Championship from ringside and slams it into the head of his opponent. The Rock hits a Rock Bottom and covers Austin. 1...2...3!

Match Rating: B

After the match is over, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler talk about the replay, which shows D'Lo Brown dropping the Intercontinental Championship where The Rock could grab it on the Nation's way out of the ringside area.

http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj571/andylion/WWF%201997/The%20Undertaker.jpg

The Undertaker:

Kane. Paul Bearer. For months now, the two of you have been doing everything in your power to make my life a living hell as some sort of sick revenge for what happened when we were kids. Well, tonight, I'm sick of it. Kane, I am not going to fight you, but I want you to come out here right now, so we can settle things between us once and for all.

http://i1268.photobucket.com/albums/jj571/andylion/WWF%201997/PaulBearer.jpg

Paul Bearer:

Undertaker, Undertaker, Undertaker. I understand what you're saying, dead man, but tonight is not the night for you and Kane to settle your score. There will come a time that the two of you are on the same page again, but it is not right now.

Bearer turns and walks backstage after that cryptic message, leaving Undertaker alone and confused in the ring.

Undertaker:

What the hell do you mean? Paul, get back here. Paul! Paul!

A video package airs for the main event, which is coming up next.

WWF Championship

Ken Shamrock vs Shawn Michaels © [w/ D-Generation X]

Shamrock is ready for this one to start as soon as the bell rings, and he rushes Michaels with strike attempts, but HBK rolls out of the ring to put some distance between them. Shamrock gives chase, Michaels slides into the ring and distracts the referee, and Triple H grabs Shamrock's ankle, letting Michaels stomp on the back of his head. The WWF Champion chokes Ken out on the ropes until the referee pulls him off, at which point Chyna slaps him across the face. Michaels gives Shamrock chops in the corner, until The World's Most Dangerous Man turns the tables on him and delivers shoulders to the midsection.

Michaels is whipped across the ring into the opposite corner, and Ken takes him down with a clothesline. Shamrock sets to work on Michaels' ankle, obviously trying to weaken it for the Ankle Lock. He stomps on it and twists it before going to the outside of the ring. Ken slams Michaels' ankle on the ring apron and then against the steel post of the turnbuckle. Triple H approaches on one side, but Shamrock backs him off. The referee comes out and gets between the two, during which time Chyna hits a low blow on Shamrock.

Michaels limps his way out of the ring and rolls Shamrock back in before climbing to the top rope and hitting an elbow drop, covering Ken for a two count. Michaels goes to the corner and starts to tune up the band...SWEET CHIN--NO, Ken Shamrock catches his foot and locks in the ankle lock! Michaels screams in pain as he tries to crawl his way toward the ropes. He grabs hold of the bottom rope, but Shamrock pulls him away and applies more pressure to the ankle. Michaels screams in pain, tears in his eyes, and he taps out! The referee doesn't see it, though, as Chyna is on the apron distracting him. Triple H slides into the ring behind the referee's back with the WWF Championship and blasts Shamrock in the face with it, draping Michaels over top of him before leaving the ring. 1...2...no! Shamrock kicks out!

Michaels looks frustrated and argues with the referee, giving Shamrock time to pick the ankle! He locks in the Ankle Lock again! Michaels has nowhere to go, in the center of the ring, he's forced to consider tapping out. Triple H gets on the apron this time, and Ken releases the hold to knock him off to the floor. While he's doing that, Shawn unlaces his boot to relieve the pressure on his ankle. Michaels limps to his feet, and Shamrock hits him with the Belly-to-Belly! Ken isn't done, yet, though. He wants to make HBK tap out, and he locks in the Ankle Lock again, only this time the boot comes off!

Shamrock is rolled through with Michaels' boot in his hand. He stares at it in surprise for a minute before turning around...Sweet Chin Music! Shamrock is knocked out, and Michaels covers him...but the referee isn't making a count! Michaels looks around and notices a fan in a hooded sweatshirt has jumped the guard rail and is attacking Triple H on the ground outside of the ring! Chyna is eventually able to pull the fan off of Triple H and, as security helps her move him away from him, his hood comes off.

It's Owen Hart! Owen Hart is taken to the back by security, but Michaels has been distracted enough that he gets caught once more by the Ankle Lock! Shamrock drags him to the middle of the ring...and Shawn taps out!

Match Rating: B

Jim Ross:

He did it! He did it! By God, Ken Shamrock has become the WWF Champion!

Jerry Lawler:

Yeah, but he did it with the help of that...that...that traitor, Owen Hart! This is a tainted victory if ever there was one, Ross!

Jim Ross:

What goes around comes around, King, and tonight, the WWF Championship has come around to the World's Most Dangerous Man, Ken Shamrock!

The lights in the arena go out, and a red spotlight comes on the ramp as Kane and Paul Bearer make their way down to ringside. Ken Shamrock stops his celebration to invite Kane into the ring, but Kane stops just short. The lights come up, and Bearer points behind Shamrock, laughing.

Shamrock turns around, and gets chokeslammed by The Undertaker! Kane finally enters the ring, and he and his brother stare each other down...until Kane lifts Shamrock off the mat and puts him on The Undertaker's shoulder for a Tombstone Piledriver! The two brothers aren't done yet, though, as they lift Shamrock off the mat once more and plant him with a double chokeslam!

With the new WWF Champion knocked out on the mat, The Undertaker kneels in front of his brother, who lights the turnbuckles ablaze as Paul Bearer stands by both, cackling in perverse pleasure.
