help with dynasty reports

Recommended Posts

Can anybody tell me how to get graphics in my dynasty reports? I want to include logos in my dynasty reports. You know, wrestler pictures, tv show logos, ppv logos, etc etc. I've seen a lot of people do it but I haven't a clue how. I've only ever been able to just attach the pictures at the bottom of the thread. If anybody can help me out I'd appreciate it, thanks.

Imgur has a maximum limit on free pictures - 200 or something? Beyond that, and you won't be able to link them all. It also renames all files loaded to it, which may be annoying when you're trying to find that Becky Lynch photo :)

Photobucket is more user friendly, in my experience. They even seem to have done away with the default-but-deselectable tic of adding a random string of characters onto the end of filenames.

I've used photobucket before, but it's been so long that I honestly don't know if I remember how. Can anybody go step by step on how to do it? I'd sure appreciate it.

Basically what I'm wanting to do is have the tv show logo before every show, the wrestler logos before every match, and so on.

Go to photobucket and create a new account/login to your old one.

I recommend that you create a new album for your dynasty - call it something obvious if you have a load there already; The company initials, say.

(You may want to create separate subfolders - worker pictures, company pictures like logos and titles, a separate folder for random screenshots and so on. I've found this useful, but it's not essential.)

Load your logos into the album(s). You should find that each image, once loaded, has a link underneath it that'll look something like this

[ IMG ]http://i242.photobucket.com/albums/q81/sportsfanmas/AWA/VerneGagne.jpg[ /IMG ]

If you don't have that, go into settings (on the black bar at the top, click on the headshot silhouette or whatever you have set as your profile picture). Under the Albums tab, make sure the 'IMG code' box is ticked. You don't need anything else for linking on here.

Copy and paste the codes, with the IMG tags, into your report at appropriate points.

Best of luck :)

Still a bit confused on how to load the logos. When I open the particular logo file, it opens it up in a program I'm not familiar with. I can't figure out how to do anything from there. In the past I used print screen and then a snipping tool to save the file and load it into photobucket. Sorry for the questions, I'm computer illiterate. lol

<p>So have you gotten the files saved onto your computer first? Don't want to be patronising just working out what stage you are at. </p><p> </p><p>

I use snipping tool for my diary but that's to copy the matches, the logos themselves you want to be having the proper file for really. </p><p> </p><p>

Normally I'd go to the games picture folder on my computer (Which is somewhere like c: program files/gds/tew/pictures but I'm not on windows at the moment so I can't check that). And copy what you want from that folder to a random 'dynasty pictures' folder you make. </p><p> </p><p>

Then when you go to upload in photobucket you can select all of them and it should do it in one go. Once you're at that stage then follow what James Casey.</p><p> </p><p>

Again this might have been obvious to you. One thing I would say is not to be put off if you're not the best with computers and this puts you off. TEW has helped me a fair bit over the years, learning something like this for some fun is a lot easier than it would be and it's the type of skills I wouldn't normally even think of learning. I'm FAR from an expert in any of these things but playing TEW alone has given me a basic understanding of image editing and even basic coding and I'm sure there is other stuff.</p>

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Just another thought, how much would it take away from my report if I left out the graphics and just went text only?

I'm not sure if I'm going to yet or not, and I do know that over 90% of the dynasty reports I read have graphics, so it obviously adds a little something to the dynasty, but even the few I've seen without graphics seem to get a lot of views and responses. I'm just weighing my options here because I'm really hoping to get the tournaments announced and the card for the first Monday Nitro up today.

I may just go without graphics for a while until I figure it out for sure, or just do limited graphics throughout the whole dynasty, I don't know yet. I just was curious how much it would affect my report if I went text only.

<p>I would say that the majority of popular diaries nowadays use graphics.</p><p> </p><p>

Those that don't tend to be exceptionally well written. There's a knack to getting characters over without using graphics - the CVerse/TVerse pictures in particular can convey volumes for a lot of their characters.</p><p> </p><p>

Imagine running a RW diary with a start-up fed using only characters who're unknown in the States - how will your fans respond to No-Name vs. Unknown? Or Team They've Never Heard Of vs. Team They Don't Care About?</p><p> </p><p>

Graphics give people something to connect to until such time as they connect to your writing/story.</p><p> </p><p>

If you want a quick and easy way to add graphics to your post, keep templates handy in a Notepad/Word documents - 1v1, 2v2 etc. so all you have to do is change the names of the pictures. For example I have the following saved:</p><p> </p><p>

<span style="font-family:Arial;">[ IMG ]</span><a href="http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/PSW/Name.jpg" rel="external nofollow"><span style="font-family:Arial;">http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/PSW/Name.jpg</span></a><span style="font-family:Arial;">[/ IMG ][ IMG ]</span><a href="http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/PSW/Company/-vs.jpg" rel="external nofollow"><span style="font-family:Arial;">http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/PSW/Company/-vs.jpg</span></a><span style="font-family:Arial;">[/ IMG ][ IMG ]</span><a href="http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/PSW/Name.jpg" rel="external nofollow"><span style="font-family:Arial;">http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q81/jamescasey_photos/PSW/Name.jpg</span></a><span style="font-family:Arial;">[/ IMG ]</span></p><p> </p><p>

I can copy/paste that every time I do a show with a singles match in (so, every show) and I have the same saved for 2v2, 3v3 etc. My workers are all saved as Surname.jpg - so Parker.jpg, Keith.jpg which makes it quick and easy to change them as I go through.</p>

Not worker images, but tv show and title belt images. It's a start. Basically all I do is open photobucket, and then upload a file from my ngo pictures folder, then open the picture, click on the img link to copy it, and paste it in the dynasty. Probably not the way others have said to do it, but it works.</p><p> </p><p> Now, as far as actual matches go, when it comes to getting images side by side for matches, you may have to explain more in-depth your method. For now I've got a good start, I think.</p>
