UWF: One Man's Trash (1991)

"Mr. Abrams? He's ready to see you now."

With a deep breath Herb Abrams stood, straightening out himself and his suit before walking forward and into the office of a man who at best could be described as intimidating. With a fortune made from being the living definition of a vicious businessman and a fitting motto adding onto his overall persona, Herb had to agree with calling this man intimidating.

As Herb closed the doors behind him his worries only got worse, the office filled with a sound he was very familiar with. The closing minutes of his weekly wrestling program, Fury Hour, playing on a television behind the desk. A man in a chair facing said television, not even registering Herb's entrance.

"U! W! F! The Universal Wrestling Federation! The Ultimate in Sports Entertainment!"

After that it was silent, Herb standing rigid at the door as contemplated what to do in the midst of all this sudden tension. Should he sit down? Wait to be invited to sit? Should he move at all? Maybe he should-

"Sports entertainment. That's Vince McMahon's little word isn't it...Mr. Abrams?"

-should just give this man a piece of his mind! Who did this guy think he was, acting just like everybody else, doubting him and his vision!

"Is this what you wanted me to come here for?! What, are you one of McMahon's cronies trying to scare me?! The bastard already has me in court for hiring Rude and Ferris, what more does he want!?"

"This isn't about what Vince McMahon wants Mr. Abrams. It's about what
I
want. Now, if you please, stop yelling and take a seat."

Herb stopped mid-yell, all anger following his worry out of his body as the man's calm response caught him off guard. Taking a moment to compose himself before sitting in front of the desk, Herb began wondering just what he was about to get into before the turning chair stopped his train of thought.

"Mr. Abrams allow me to properly introduce myself. My name is Gordon Gekko, and I would like to offer you a deal."

<p></p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/xZ3vScL.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

</p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">The moment he heard the door close behind the exiting Abrams, Gordon sank into his chair, his face showing the exhaustion he had built during the last two hours of negotiating with Herb. It wasn't as though Herb was a challenge to negotiate with, but more so that the man was so stupidly stubborn!</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

At first Herb was dead set on not selling the UWF at all, but as Gordon increased the amount he was offering, Herb became much more agreeable. That led to another problem however, as Herb wanted to maintain some position in the company, clearly not wanting to just let such a power go. After nearly an hour of the same argument with the man, Gordon grit his teeth and laid it out for the idiot.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

"You don't get it do you Herb? I know all about your legal issues regarding Vince McMahon. I know how it's causing bouncing checks you've been making to some of the talent because you've been spending every penny you've got on fighting Vince in court. You're in over your head Abrams, and we both know it. Take this deal for what it is, a chance to escape! Sell the entirety of the UWF to me and all of your problems become my problems, allowing you to leave to God knows where with your family. Otherwise it'll all come crashing down on you, including your more...illicit activities."</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

He was much more happy to sell after that, even going so far as to sign a bonus clause that would prevent him from ever returning to the company in any capacity.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With a sigh and a tired smile, Gordon sat back up in his chair, looking through some notes and details Herb's had given him on the company, from the roster and current storylines to future ideas like a UWF Pay-Per-View Herb was planning in the summer. Some were decent ideas that Gordon could work with, but otherwise were just plain insanity! </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

A Midget World Championship. Seriously?!</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

It was going to be a long night sorting through Herb's good ideas and ideas no doubt thought of during a coke binge...but Gordon didn't find himself minding too much.</div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">

After all, one man's trash, is another man's treasure.</div></div>

Bam Bam Bigelow - Putting him over the aging "Rock" is a great idea.

Ivan Koloff - Blair never really amounted to much, while Ivan could at least look good enough to take someone under his wing.

Paul Orndorff - I love me some "Mr. Wonderful".

Mini tournament

Remembering how well you were doing 1985 makes me pretty excited to see what you can do with the UWF in 91!

Finally, Bam Bam snaps, charging at Muraco, taking the both of them to the outside with a clothseline! It's not Orton who starts talking though, but rather his manager, "The Golden Greek" John Tolos. With that Tolos brings the segment to an end, "Tonight the world is gonna learn two things! With his usual quick pace Blair takes the fight to Koloff, landing move after move in an attempt to wear down his opponent. But Ivan lives up to his nickname, as he catches Brian during a Running Crossbody attempt and turns it into a Bearhug! Seconds pass and bit by bit Blair's energy is fading, but Koloff has other plans for him, as he ends the Bearhug and sends Brian running to the ropes! <p>So excited to see this!</p><p> </p><p>

UWF is such a guilty pleasure for me. Will definitely be following even if I don't comment much early on as I'm working on other mods. Can't wait to see how you enjoy it.</p><p> </p><p>

Also, can I use that banner you made for nGo?</p><p> </p><p>

Edit: Also, awesome that used Gecko as your user character! Glad someone opted for him. Proves I didn't add him in vein.</p>

Thank you for the words and making this mod, it's been one of my favorites since 2013 due me enjoying how well it flows with gameplay.</p><p> </p><p> As for the banner I didn't make it, that was all BestInThaWorld21 on his graphics thread here, so probably better to ask him: <a href="http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=535868&page=2" rel="external nofollow">http://www.greydogsoftware.com/forum/showthread.php?t=535868&page=2</a></p><p> </p><p> On the Gekko note, I love having him in the data, gave a nice chuckle since I enjoyed the film and honestly I felt like it made more sense for using him as a buyer for the promotion than any of the user characters. For me variety with user characters is always welcome because it gives more choices for anyone who wants a fitting personality for their narrative.</p>

With a pair of winks to their new rivals the team of Wet 'n' Wild exit the ring, leaving a shocked Johnny and Scotty in the ring as they realize what they're in for this Friday!</div></div></div></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Grade: 40</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/qweRjhK.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/q9gI7rv.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/j7PNWyZ.jpg</span> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">vs</span></strong> <span>http://i.imgur.com/oI09osy.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/zzXHgSw.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <strong>The Hotbodies VS The Batten Twins</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">The shock of the announcement from Wet 'n' Wild certainly left its effect on the Hotbodies as they were left at the mercy of the Batten Twins for the start of the match. Being one of the only teams left out from the tag team title four way, Brad and Bart fight with chips on their shoulders, but said chips become cracks once Scotty and Johnny regain their bearings, catching the Batten's off guard. With angry motivation the Hotbodies take back the match under their control before taking it all the way home after a Hotbody Hangover (Ace Crusher) from Johnny Hotbody on Brad Batten!</div></div></div></div><p> </p><p> <strong>Winners: The Hotbodies</strong></p><p><strong> Finish: Pinfall at 8:45</strong></p><p><strong> Grade: 32</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/qweRjhK.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/aCuxF4Q.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/5AjO1F8.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">Lou is a much happier man in this Captain's Corner as he speaks to an old friend and former client in Don Muraco about last week's draw with Bam Bam Bigelow. Before that happens however, Don asks Lou and all of the UWF to no longer address him as "Magnificent" Don Muraco...but instead to address him for who he really is. Don "The Rock" Muraco! After Lou agrees Don talks, saying that Bam Bam may be big, but he's not as formidable as "The Rock!"</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/VFnmy79.jpg</span><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> But Bam Bam immediately puts that to the test as he suddenly blindsides Muraco, sending him straight to the ground for Bigelow to beat on! But the Iceman is a seasoned fighter and he shows it as he turns a whip into the ropes into momentum for him to land a Hip Attack to the face of "Dr. Death", only to run back to the ropes to land a second Hip, the force knocking Williams back into the referee! Parsons is lost in his fire as he ignores the fall of the ref, running back to the ropes for a final bunch of momentum, but takes a stiff Double Axe Handle to the back! At first the camera focuses on the fallen Parsons, but quickly looks toward the ring floor, showing the attacker as Col. DeBeers, the villain making good on his words from earlier!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> With a proud smile on his face, DeBeers ignores a jeering crowd behind him, keeping his focus on the rising Steve Williams, laughing as he sees the anger in the eyes of "Dr. Death." With authority Williams brings Parsons to his feet, only to lift him higher before bringing him crashing back down with a Doctor Bomb (Gutwrench Sitout Powerbomb), just in time for a slightly dazed Billy Silverman to count the pin! DeGeorge and Sammartino aren't happy at this kind of ending, but both men end up agreeing that it's going to be an interesting night at the New Year Nightmare thanks to this.</div></div></div><p> <strong>Winner: Steve Williams</strong></p><p><strong> Finish: Pinfall at 12:37 after Interference by Col. January 18th 1991: UWF New Year Nightmare

UWF WHC Finals

"Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff vs "Dr. Death" Steve Williams

Comments: Steve Williams just has a lot more to offer the world and he's one of my favorites ever. However, I could see going either way. Orndorff has more star quality.

Don "The Rock" Muraco vs Bam Bam Bigelow

Comments: Have to go Bam Bam. He's a top contender.

UWF World Tag Team Championship

Four Way Tag Team Match

Wet 'n' Wild vs The Power Twins vs The Youngbloods vs The Hotbodies

Comments: I like this team as a fun team. It's interesting to me that they never did anything together outside of UWF. I could see you going with The Youngbloods or the Power Twins though.

Iceman King Parsons vs Colonel DeBeers

Comments: Parsons winning makes more sense, but I think DeBeers has more use to you if he wins. Once he loses it's over.

Debut Match

Chief Jay Strongbow Jr. vs ??? w/"The Golden Greek" John Tolos

Comments: Strongbow Jr is a scab and Tolos has some managing chops.

Which match will have the highest grade? The lowest?

Highest grade will be the main event, lowest grade will be the tag team match.

John Tolos has kept quiet about his new talent, only giving a hint in saying that it's a young gun totally new to the UWF. Who is it?

I have no idea! Maybe Ken Shamrock?

Overall Comments:

Like I said, big fan of the UWF and I'm glad you're doing this diary. You have basically a clean slate in terms of the readers as most people are not familiar with what the UWF put out.

After some quick hyping of the card the UWF Owner gets to the point, announcing that on the next UWF Fury Hour there will be another championship crowning, as 15 men will compete in a battle royal to decide the first ever UWF SportsChannel Television Champion!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><span>http://i.imgur.com/KDUOejZ.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/5PbSTyA.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/U304qaw.jpg</span><div style="text-align:center;"></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> But that's as far as Gordon gets with talking about the title, as he's interrupted by a rather smug looking John Tolos, two strangers entering the ring behind him as he begins to talk. Tolos tells Gekko that he might as well scrap the whole battle royal and just hand the title over to his newest additions to the Golden Greek's Stable, the lovely power couple of Steve Austin and Jeannie Clark! </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Gekko takes a moment to look over Steve before nodding slowly, telling Tolos that he wants to see Mr. Austin live up his hype tonight before he makes any bets for Fury Hour. Every time his opponent tried to build himself back up, Austin had a way to keep him down, adding insult to injury with taunts after every counter. It was one final counter that ended it all for Strongbow however, as a run towards Austin turned into a lift and then drop neck first onto the top rope! On commentary Craig and Bruno were even wondering if that was legal, but a three count by referee Jesse Hernandez answered that question, a happy Tolos quickly celebrating in the ring with his new pair.</div></div></div></div></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Winner: Steve Austin</strong></p><p><strong> Finish: Pinfall at 7:10</strong></p><p><strong> Grade: 33</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/dBjjaxt.jpg</span><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/SJyFHme.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/B1nmRrp.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p> </p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">It's a live edition of the Captain's Corner as Captain Lou gets himself a special live set in the ring, smiling wide in the middle of it with his latest guest, Kevin Von Erich! The battle lines were at first as Power Twins/Hotbodies vs the Youngbloods/Wild 'n' Wild, but an accidental elbow from Scotty Hotbody to Larry Power ended the first alliance, while a series of pinfall interruptions by both the Youngbloods and Wet 'n' Wild ended the second! </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> The biggest end of them all came in a line of events however, with Johnny Hotbody first landing a Too Hot (Ace Crusher) on Chris Youngblood, only to get thrown out the ring by Larry Power before he could capitalize! With the ball in his court Larry made his way to the fallen Chris, but from out of nowhere came Sunny and Steve with a Double Dropkick that sends the big man down! With Mark Youngblood and David Power fighting outside Sunny runs interference on Scotty Hotbody, giving Steve the time to get the victory with a pin on Larry Power!</div></div></div></div><p> </p><p> <strong>Winners and NEW UWF World Tag Team Champions: Wet 'n' Wild</strong></p><p><strong> Finish: Pinfall at 10:12</strong></p><p><strong> Grade: 36</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/kzcP77m.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/7rRWjAP.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/yaUZho3.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">It's another session of the Captain's Corner, with Lou's guest this time being Iceman King Parsons! With a smug smile DeBeers tells Lou and Parsons that he's sorry to disappoint but since he never agreed to a match with the dog Lou calls a guest, he doesn't have to dirty his hands with putting down Parsons tonight! However just because he wants to see him face down in the dirt like he belongs, he's decide to let his Corporal, Michael Kirchner make an example of Parsons to all and any who stand in the way of his campaign to reveal the true menace of America!</div></div></div></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Grade: 62</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/kzcP77m.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/yaUZho3.jpg</span> <strong><span style="font-size:18px;">VS</span></strong> <span>http://i.imgur.com/Fh0nozl.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>Iceman King Parsons VS Corporal Kirchner</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">The Colonel joins Bruno and DeGeorge for commentary in this match, and while it's something neither man is happy about, they take the time to ask him who exactly is Kirchner? However that was before he met DeBeers, before he was given a true purpose for the training he is now putting to use on Parsons! Pound for pound he matches Kirchner only to begin overtaking him with a flurry of fists! One punch! Two punch! Three punch! Backup for the windup...and fou-DEBEERS DOESN'T ALLOW IT AS HE SMASHES THE TIMEKEEPER'S BELL IN IKP'S FACE! The first being the amazing talent in both brawling and wrestling of "Dr. Death", and the second being the iron will and determination of "Mr. Wonderful." From the very start counter after counter came at Paul from the younger Williams, but no sign of surrender was given back as he kept getting back up.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> His infamous temper flaring up, Steve began forgoing his wrestling skills in favor for more hard hitting strikes, but all that kind of focus did was leave him open for a wonderful counter. Dodging a clothesline and quickly giving a surprise kick to the gut gave Paul all he needed to turn the tides as he slapped on his patented Piledriver, leading to a second just moments after the first! Dazed and snapped so suddenly from his momentum, Williams was perfect pickings for the technical dissection that followed, Paul doing all he could to keep Steve off his feet and from getting his fire back.</div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> After a series of suplexes Paul was finally ready, lifting and placing Williams in position for a third and possibly final Piledriver, but just before the lift began Paul's focus was interrupted by a yelling Cowboy Bob Orton on the ring apron! Letting Steve down, Paul got himself right in Orton's face to yell right back, leading to referee Larry Sanders sending Orton to the back! Smiling at the decision, Paul turns his attention back to Williams, but runs right into a Big Boot by the recovered "Dr. Death!" Wasting no time the good Doctor picks up his latest patient high as he can before bringing him crashing down with a vicious Doctor Bomb! One isn't enough however as Steve takes a note from Paul and hits not only a second Bomb, but a third one as well, making damn sure that there's no kickout as he gets his victory, and the UWF World Heavyweight Championship!</div></div></div></div><p> </p><p> <strong>Winner and NEW UWF World Heavyweight Champion: "Dr. Death" Steve Williams</strong></p><p><strong> Finish: Pinfall at 20:34 after a distraction by Cowboy Bob Orton</strong></p><p><strong> Grade: 56</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/kzcP77m.jpg</span></p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/dRmRaVg.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:left;"><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;">If Williams knew how he won it didn't seem like he cared as he made a beeline straight for the title, climbing to the top turnbuckle and holding it high above his head. Sorry this has been ages late, unfortunately things got busy after one of my closest friends had a mental breakdown, leading to me spending time with them to help their recovery. This was then followed by school starting, as well as my new job and the training that's come with it so far. Thankfully I've found a sort of rhythm to my schedule lately, so I'm all set and ready to continue this dynasty.
