WWE: Building a New Era

Recommended Posts

July 2015.

Seth Rollins and the Authority run the WWE.

From WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon rule the company, tilting the odds in the favour of their chosen few.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Suplex City, Brock Lesnar, wants his revenge for losing his WWE Championship at Wrestlemania despite not being pinned or submitting.

Elsewhere, The Face That Runs The Place, John Cena, has found himself the target of Kevin Owens, the NXT champion that shocked the world when he defeated Cena in his debut at Elimination Chamber.

The Bella's rule the Diva's division, Twin Magic keeping them atop the pile.

The Prime Time Players are hoping that their Million Dollar Moves will help them keep hold of the WWE Tag Team titles, but a New Day is here, and gunning for the gold.

We start off a week from WWE Battleground, where initial bookings show John Cena vs. Kevin Owens fighting for the US title, Seth Rollins facing off against the Beast, Brock Lesnar and The Prime Time Players defending the Tag Titles against The New Day, although cards can change and stories can form themselves....

Monday Wk 1 July 2015

Monday Night Raw

Crisler Center, Michigan - 10,571 in attendance

-------------------------------------------------------------------

The first Raw starts off with a familiar sight, Stephanie McMahon addressing the fans from inside the ring.

"Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to Monday Night Raw. Tonight's Main Event sees your WWE Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins take on the Lunatic Fringe Dean Ambrose in a non-title match. We will also see John Cena's US Open Challenge, and a match I am making now to determine the Number One Contender to the Intercontinental Championship. The 2015 King of the Ring, Wade Barrett will take on the Swiss Superman, Cesaro and the Cosmic Enigma, Stardust.

Rating: 71|C+

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Jack Swagger vs. Kevin Owens

In a decent match, Kevin Owens defeated Jack Swagger in 10:51 by pinfall with a Pop-Up Powerbomb.

Swagger was going for the Patriot Lock, but Owens rolled it through forcing Swagger into the ropes, before popping up and hitting Swagger with the Pop-Up Powerbomb for the win.

Rating: 68|C+

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Cesaro vs. Stardust vs. Wade Barrett

In a decent match, Wade Barrett defeated Cesaro and Stardust in 13:17 when Wade Barrett defeated Cesaro by pinfall with The Bullhammer.

Barrett picks up the win with a Bullhammer on Cesaro who was performing a Sharpshooter on Stardust after landing the Cesaro Swing.

Rating: 66|C+

-------------------------------------------------------------------

After the match the show cuts to a dark room backstage where Bray Wyatt is holding a lit lantern. "Tonight, I face Dolph Ziggler. He is irrelevant to me. My goal, my quest, my mission, is to end Roman Reigns. To leave him broken and destroyed and lying on the ground, beaten. What I do tonight to Dolph Ziggler will be but a taster of what I will bestow upon Roman Reigns at Battleground. Remember, follow the buzzards".

Rating: 74|B-

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Lucha Dragons vs. The Ascension

In a bout that had terrible wrestling and non-existent crowd heat, Lucha Dragons defeated The Ascension in 7:49 when Kalisto defeated Konnor by pinfall with a Solida Del Sol.

In a match built to try and give The Lucha Dragons some momentum in a really ailing Tag Division, Kalisto lands the Solida Del Sol on Konnor while Sin Cara keeps Viktor occupied.

Rating: 17|F+

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Neville vs. The Miz

In a decent match, Neville defeated The Miz in 10:39 by pinfall with a Red Arrow.

The Miz goes for the Skull-Crushing Finale, but Neville counters, spinning behind Miz and hitting a German Suplex, before climbing the turnbuckle and landing the Red Arrow.

Rating: 66|C+

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Paige vs. Brie Bella

In a bout that had sub-par wrestling and little heat, Paige defeated Brie Bella in 8:17 by pinfall with a RamPaige.

Pretty standard match, Brie went for the kicks she adopted from Daniel Bryan, Paige ducked under the final one and hit the RamPaige for the win.

Rating: 50|D+

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Backstage, Renee Young is interviewing Neville after his win when Miz runs in from behind Neville, attacking him from behind and leaving him lying on the floor.

Rating: 48|D+

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Bray Wyatt vs. Dolph Ziggler

In a decent match, Bray Wyatt defeated Dolph Ziggler in 13:41 by pinfall with a Sister Abigail.

Wyatt hits the running senton, then spider walks from the corner to hit the Sister Abigail for the win.

Rating: 65|C

-------------------------------------------------------------------

John Cena Open Challenge vs. The Big Show

In a superb match, John Cena defeated The Big Show in 11:16 when The Big Show was disqualified when Kevin Owens ran in and attacked John Cena. John Cena makes defence number 1 of his WWE United States title.

John Cena was about to hit The Big Show with the AA when Owens runs in and hits Cena, before laying him out with a Pop-Up Powerbomb.

Rating: 78|B

-------------------------------------------------------------------

After his attack, Owens picks up a mic, saying he's better than Cena and that at Battleground he will win the US Championship, because he is the Prizefighter. However, he is cut off before he can say anymore, as he turns round into a Chokeslam from The Big Show.

Rating: 76|B-

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Dean Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins

And in the main event, in a bout that had good wrestling and a decent reaction from the crowd, Dean Ambrose drew with Seth Rollins in 12:40 when the match descended into chaos after Brock Lesnar got involved.

Rollins and Ambrose trade rights, before both run at the ropes and clothesline each other. While they're both down, Lesnar and Heyman make their way to the ring. Lesnar grabs Ambrose and hits a German Suplex, before turning his attention to Rollins, who he drops with an F5.

Rating: 64|C

-------------------------------------------------------------------

The show ends with Heyman in the ring with Lesnar, cutting a promo about the Lesnar/Rollins match that's scheduled for Battleground. He says there is no stopping a beast when it's been unleashed, and at Battleground he's going to unleash Lesnar on Rollins. Lesnar goes to grab Rollins again, but gets attacked by Ambrose, who manages to hit Dirty Deeds on Lesnar, who then rolls out of the ring and up the ramp, Heyman by his side, leaving Raw to end with Ambrose's music.

Rating: 72|B-

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Final Show Rating: 67|C+

A slightly disappointing first show, let down by a main event that bombed due to it ending in a no contest. We have a new #1 Contender for the Intercontinental championship in Wade Barrett, things are heating up between Kevin Owens and John Cena, and trouble seems to be brewing between Neville and The Miz. Tune in next time for Smackdown, where we hope to get a higher score to leave us in good stead going into Battleground.
