joemook
Does anyone know how (If it is even possible) to play TEW 2016 on Ubuntu using Wine or another application like that? I have been looking for a while and I can't find any threads that address this.
Lucied
I have a tutorial in the TEW 2010 tech support forum, but it's kind of a mess. redgiant
I'm running the game on arch linux. I installed pipelight which bundles with wine-staging. I don't remember whether I have installed ie6, vb6 etc. So far I have not come across any in-game errors. Playing it on linux is much better because I can sim the game in the background without it re-maximizing the window every single day. I edited out the year, because the errors can really happen in any edition.

Anyway, you're welcome for the tutorial. It took some trial and error on my part many years ago to try and figure out how to get it to work. Thankfully it does, with minimal issues. The most notable one right now is that there is no entry in the taskbar for the game, so if it loses focus you have to Alt+Tab to get back to it (unless you minimize, move, or resize your other windows and click on it directly, of course). It's a minor pain. Though I admit I'm currently using Crossover, so maybe vanilla Wine has fixed it by now.

I'm thinking of removing the WINEPREFIX stuff from the tutorial. That seems to be more advanced and if you know what you're doing, you probably know how to do it already. No need to complicate things with it, after all. I just don't know if it's worth editing that old tutorial or just making a new one. I don't know how many people go to that tech support forum anymore.
