Booker rolled intot he ring and began to speed the pace of the match up working Rick Steiner over before a series of Harlem Sidekicks kept Rick on the mat long enough for Booker to connect with the Harlem Hangover for the victory. </p><p> Finish of the Match: Booker T pinned Rick Steiner at 8:18 after a Harlem Hangover</p><p> My Thoughts: A decent outing that makes me continue to look forward to the tag team match at Halloween Havoc. 77</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Gene Okerlund interviewed Diamond Dallas Page and the Diamond Doll about his recent winning streak, and DDP ended the conversation by saying that “one his opponent felt the bang over the Diamond Cutter it was game over!”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Match 4: Diamond Dallas Page vs. Frank Andersson<p> Body of the Match: An exhibition match for DDP with everyone waiting for the one moment that would matter, when Page used his new finishing move. Funk looked like he was about ready to go ahead with that when Arn Anderson told him to get out on the ring apron because he was starting. As Anderson and Jack locked up, ‘The Enforcer’ quickly went after Jack’s arm trying to possibly weaken him for tomorrow’s nights title match against Flair. A tag to Ric Flair and the fans were getting an early preview of that match as Flair worked Jack over with some Chops before tagging back out to Anderson. And so it went for a little bit with Flair and Anderson making quick tags and wearing Jack down, until Cactus finally got free and tagged out to Dustin Rhodes. The Texan entered the ring to loud cheers, and Funk was desperate to get into the match so that he could have a showdown with Dustin with the fans torn between the two, but as Funk and Rhodes took turns pointing to each other, and looking at the crowd for cheers, eventually the responses got louder for Dustin. Funk pointed to the crowd one more time, before kicking Dustin in the gut and picking him up for a Slam. Things eventually came back to Arn Anderson and Cactus being the legal men in the ring with fighting going on outside of the ring, and Dustin suddenly reappear and dropped Arn with a Lariat and was kicking him in the corner while Terry Funk and Cactus Jack finally came face to face. The two men were talking quickly although what was being said could not be heard on the television. Anderson managed to throw Dustin through the ropes to the outside, before he sent Cactus Jack head first into Terry Funk, spun him around and dropped him for a DDT to get the pin fall victory for his team! </p><p> Finish of the Match: Arn Anderson pinned Cactus Jack at 17:20 after a DDT</p><p> My Thoughts: This was a good preview for the matches tomorrow night and the story within the story was Cactus Jack/Terry Funk which is interesting to see where that will go. 81</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> The United States Champion got to finish the show out with the United States Championship in his arms and told the fans that they could start writing their thank you cards right now, after tomorrow no one will ever have to worry about that old, used up, has been Larry Zbyszko. “You were the World Champion of a dying company, the man who got one whiff of glory, a glory that wasn’t even yours to even begin with. History will not be repeating itself this time, this belt and the glory that is associated with it because of my reign belongs to me and me alone!” </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> Overall Rating: A really good go home show that didn’t give too much away, but teased greatness at Halloween Havoc. <p>Ric Flair - <em>I can't see Cactus Jack picking up the title, especially with Starrcade so close,</em></p><p><em>

because my guess is that we will see Sting vs. Flair for the title unification there.</em></p><p>

Sting - <em>Same as above.</em></p><p>

Steve Austin - <em>Time for Larry to get behind the desk, but you've given him a pretty solid run.</em></p><p>

Brian Pillman - <em>Whether by DQ/countout or a new champion, Brian takes this.</em></p><p>

Dusty/Dustin/Steamboat - <em>With the stipulation about the tournament, it feels almost a given that one of the heels will be pinned and knocked out of it so that it'll be an even two faces vs. two heels.</em></p><p>

Stars 'n Stripes - <em>The old men go down to the young bucks. 'MURICA!</em></p><p>

Ron Simmons</p><p>

Paul Orndorff - <em>Even if he's probably on time decline, Orndorff is a better catch than Roma if you use him right. As he's a face now, I could see him going after Austin's US title next.</em></p><p> </p><p>

MOTN: Sting vs. Arn</p><p>

???: It's set up to sound like it's Bret Hart, but I don't think it is because that would have been way too on the nose with some of the vignettes; so I'm gonna say Chris Jericho?</p>

Wanted to post this for a couple of reasons.....one, I've only got the Main Event left to write so the show is almost done so anyone who wants to make predictions do so now as the show will be up sometime this week depending on a crazy busy schedule I have this week. Second in the interest of maybe getting more people wanting to predict I have decided to end the previous predictions contest, I'll be in touch with Beejus soon about his prize, and start fresh with this show leading up to Starrcade! Thanks for everyone's interest and a special thank you for the nominations in the Diary of the Month contest this month, it is truly appreciated!

With the other two surly old men in their own important matches later on in the evening, ‘The Enforce’ made his way out for this match all alone. Of course Sting was not alone as the fans were very much on his side as he made his way out from the back with the International World Heavyweight Championship belt proudly displayed around his waist. Anderson started the match off in cheap fashion as he attacked Sting while he was trying to take his ring jacket off, pulling it over Sting’s head and pounding away before dropping him with a DDT and trying to get an early pin. It only got a two count as Sting kicked out though. Anderson tried to use the jacket to do further damage, but Sting slipped out of it and caught Anderson with a Dropkick! ‘The Enforcer’ dropped out of the ring and tried to walk away from Sting, but Sting ran and slid out of the ring on the other side, came running around the corner and caught Arn with a Clothesline on the floor! Sting picked him up and rolled him back into the ring, before going to the top turnbuckle waiting for Arn to get back to his feet and turn around. As soon as Arn was on his feet Sting launched himself off looking for a top rope Clothesline, but Anderson moved and Sting crashed to the mat. ‘The Enforce’ pulled him up around the waist, and turned that into a Gourdbuster before going for the pin fall attempt and only getting two. With Sting still down Anderson backed up and dropped his trademark Knee Drop before going for another pin fall but only getting two. Arn pulled Sting to his feet and went for another DDT, but this time Sting backed him up into the corner, before kicking Arn in the gut a few times. Backing up Sting hit a very quick Stinger Splash before getting his own two count. Sting tried to pull Arn to his feet but fell victim to a Knee lift followed up by a Swinging Neckbreaker. With Sting down Arn was sitting up breathing, taking a moment to think about his next move while the fans were booing. ‘The Enforcer’ pulled Sting to his feet and tried to go for a Suplex, but Sting blocked it a couple of times, before reversing into a Suplex of his own! As both men climbed to their feet Anderson tried to surprise Sting with a Sunset Flip, but Sting managed to keep to his feet and reached down and pulled Anderson up between his legs. Arn punched Sting in the gut, doubling him over and went for another Sunset Flip and this time took Sting down for a two count. This time when both men came to their feet Sting seemed to get an energy burst as he ran at Arn, but Anderson reacted quickly and dropped down taking the top rope down and Sting went flying over the ring rope and didn’t land until he crashed to the mat below! Anderson took a few moments to rest up while referee Randy Anderson started the ten count on Sting who was moving in pain outside the ring. Finally Arn did break up the count rolling outside and pulling Sting up just to throw him against the guard rail. Arn rolled back into the ring and then back out breaking up the count one more time, before trying to pulling the protective matting up from the floor. He struggled with that long enough that Sting was able to recover and dropped Arn with a DDT outside of the ring! It took all that he had, but Sting was able to pull Arn up and roll him back into the ring before following after him. Sting went to go and pull Arn to his feet in the ring….but Anderson rolled him up for a ONE….TWO…TH…STING KICKED OUT! Both men came to their feet…and Arn connected with a Spinebuster!! Both men were down and out, and by the time Arn finally crawled over and got the pin fall attempt it was only good for a two count. But now Anderson was recovering and he had a target as he began to work over Sting’s back. This would allow for more damage for the Spinebuster next time, and also prevented Sting from going for the Scorpion Deathlock. And in fact after Sting had been weakened it looked like the match was going to end as Anderson went for the Swinging Spinebuster….BUT STING BLEW RED MIST INTO HIS FACE!!! The Great Muta must have taught Sting something before he went back to Japan to pay Anderson back with. While Anderson walked around trying to get the mist out of his face, referee Randy Anderson tried to figure out what had happened as he had been out of visual range, and Sting went to the top turnbuckle. Anderson finally turned towards Sting and the Champion flew off of the top rope and connected with a Diving Crossbody for the one…..two….three!! </p><p> Finish of the Match: Sting pinned Arn Anderson at 23:12 after a Diving Crossbody</p><p> My Thoughts: This was a fun match to start the show off and showed a lot of familiarity between the two foes. I think the biggest downside to the match is that no one ever really bought Anderson as someone who was going to get the victory; with that said the little nod to the Great Muta at the end was really cool. 82</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> A repeat of Steve Austin’s video from Saturday Night prepared the fans for the title vs career match that was to come later tonight</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Match 2: For a spot in the WCW United States Tag Team Tournament: Bob Orton Jr/Greg Valentine vs. Stars ‘n’ Stripes<p> Body of the Match: This was the third time these two teams had met up, and the previous two matches hadn’t exactly set the world on fire, but at least this time there was something on the line. Also in the previous matched Bob Orton Jr had attempted to avoid Bagwell, but this time Marcus didn’t give him a choice as he attacked him before the bell could even be rung to begin the match. Fired up Bagwell was punching and kicking away, but he got over eager as he pushed referee David Manning out of the way and that allowed Bob Orton Jr to run him over with a Clothesline, before picking him up and dropping him with a Powerslam. Orton then tagged out to Greg Valentine who came in with an Elbow Drop, and then began to work over Bagwell’s knee. The two managed to get a couple of double teams on Bagwell, before the Patriot was finally tagged into the match and that seemed to make the different. At one point Orton Jr did take The Patriot down with a Belly to Back Suplex and attempted to get the pin with Greg Valentine holding onto The Patriot’s legs from outside, but Bagwell ran around the ring and dropped Valentine with a tackle and that broke up the pin fall. Orton Jr came to his feet and was yelling at Bagwell which led to him falling victim to a Patriot Missile for the pin fall and a final elimination of Orton Jr and Greg Valentine from the United States Tag Team Tournament. </p><p> Finish of the Match: The Patriot pinned Bob Orton Jr at 8:21 following the Patriot Missile</p><p> My Thoughts: Another alright tag team match from these two teams that seems to allow Stars ‘n’ Stripes to go off into the US Tag Team 64</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Match 3: WCW World Television Championship: Lord Steven Regal© vs. Brian Pillman<p> Body of the Match: The World Television Champion was accompanied to the ring by both Jean-Paul Levesque and Sir William. Pillman was desperate to get his hands on Regal, but Steven Regal kept backing into the corner and forcing the referee to keep Pillman away. The fans were booing so Regal took time to to yell at them and threaten them with a backhand before finally locking up with Pillman. After a Collar and Elbow Lockup, Regal was able to get his hands on Pillman’s wrist and forced him down to the ground out of an Arm Wringer. Pillman reversed that into one of his own, before running off of the ropes and dropping Regal with a Tackle. Regal walked around holding his neck in pain, before locking up with Pillman and putting a Full Nelson on him. Pillman broke out of that and locked a Side Headlock on Regal, before flipping him over and onto his back. They wrestled over the headlock on the mat, before Regal was able to get on top and dragged Pillman to his feet before firing away with a few European Uppercuts that dropped Pillman to the ropes. Lord Steven Regal sent Pillman into the corner with an Irish Whip and followed after him, just to have Pillman catch him with a Sunset Flip. Regal reversed out of that and climbed to his feet with Pillman’s legs wrapped around his feet around Regal’s head before twisting his hips and sending Regal to the mat. Both men ran at each other and Pillman flipped Regal over and locked a Headlock on again. They climbed to their feet and Regal used his foot and pushed down on the back of Pillman’s leg and forced Pilllman down to his knee’s. Pillman forced his way back to his feet and this time Regal pushed him back into the corner and broke the headlock before connecting with a couple more European Uppercuts. Regal then started to work over Pillman’s arm again, before pulling him down to his back, but Pillman bridged out of the pin fall. The end result was Regal trying to put his weight on Pillman, but Pillman go this feet up on Regal’s abdomen. That pushed Regal back towards the ropes, and pulled Pillman off of the man, and then Pillman took Regal over with a Monkey Flip. Pillman went for another Side Headlock, but Regal reversed it and started to work over Pillman’s fingers, bending them backwards. Regal ended up backing Pillman into a corner and kicked away at him, but Pillman managed to get free of that with some Chops before Regal took him down to the mat and locked on the STF. Pillman managed to break out of that and took over from there with some more punches and Chops. Regal threw Pillman into the corner once more, but Pillman managed to block that and got up on the ropes and nailed Regal with a Dropkick from the second rope. He then went outside of the ring looing to hit the Air Pillman but got distracted by Jean-Paul Levesque climbing up onto the ring apron and distracting the referee. Pillman finally did go for the Air Pillman….but he did not realize that Sir William had slid the World Television belt to Regal who as he climbed to his feet put the belt between him and Pillman and Pillman’s head bounced off of the belt!! Regal slid the belt back out to Sir William before pinning Pillman for the three count!</p><p> Finish of the Match: Lord Steven Regal pinned Brian Pillman at 13:07</p><p> My Thoughts: A decent match although for some reason I had higher expectations for it and so I was a little let down by that. The ending was a decent twist on the usual interference finish so that was a real positive. 77</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Match 4: Dustin Rhodes/Dusty Rhodes/Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat vs. “Rampage” Ray Traylor/Terry Funk/Vader<p> Body of the Match: Reluctantly Vader started this match after a glare in the direction of Terry Funk, but it was quickly forgotten as Vader and Ricky Steamboat locked up. As Steamboat had shown in previous matches with Vader earlier in the year he was not afraid to go nose to nose with the menacing Vader as he fired away with a series of Chops and blows to the face, before dropping Vader with a Dropkick. Vader climbed to his feet and Steamboat ran at him and caught him with a Crossbody and both men went flying over the top rope…and landed on their feet outside of the ring! Outside the ring Steamboat tossed Vader headfirst into the guard rail before rolling back into the ring and went right for the top turnbuckle where he dived off to connect with a Overhead Chop! ‘The Dragon’ rolled back into the ring to go and discuss things with his partner, while Vader climbed back into the ring slowly. Race was calling for Vader to tag out, but instead he went right after Steamboat as he felt humiliated after what Steamboat had done. The two men were throwing hard blows but it was Vader who got the upper hand, before dropping Steamboat with a Lariat and then a Splash. Vader climbed up onto the turnbuckle and waited for Steamboat to stand up before he tried to take Steamboat over with a Sunset Flip. Steamboat didn’t go down….but instead dropped to a sitting position on Vader’s chest, before rolling over and tagging out to Dustin Rhodes. Dustin went after Vader and actually Clotheslined him out of the ring to the outside as well! Vader climbed back into the ring and this time he had had enough as he tagged out to “Rampage.” Traylor was methodical about getting into the ring and actually managed to slow the match down and worked Dustin Rhodes over, before dropping him with a Spinebuster! “Rampage” was about to go for the pin, when Terry Funk was yelling from outside that he wanted to be tagged in. Traylor looked down at Rhodes, before looking over at Funk….and made the tag! Terry Funk climbed into the ring and went to pin Dustin, but ‘The Natural’ had been playing possum and he rolled Terry up for a very close two count. Funk went to quickly go and tag back out….but both of his partners dropped from the ring apron….and started to back their way up the aisle way towards the back. Slowly it dawned on Terry Funk that his allies had just desserted him as they didn’t need the win to be involved in Nick Bockwinkel’s plans for post Halloween Havoc. Funk turned around…and walked right into a series of Bionic Elbow’s from Dustin Rhodes. With Funk down Dustin tagged out to his father who entered the ring and got his own series of Elbow’s on Funk. Terry tried to fight back bu the numbers were too much and all three of his opponents took turns beating on him before Dustin finally put him out of his misery with a Bulldog to get back at Funk for everything he had said/done to the Rhodes family in the past few months. </p><p> Finish of the Match: Dustin Rhodes pinned Terry Funk at 17:08 following a Bulldog</p><p> My Thoughts: A good way to end the feud and give Dustin his closure over Terry Funk who is obviously moving in a different direction. Also it was nice to see Vader and Traylor be smart and utilize the loop hole that Nick Bockwinkel unintentionally(?) left them. 87</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> A video began to play:</p><p> </p><p> “There have been good wrestlers…..there have been great wrestlers…..there have been great Canadian wrestlers….but there has only been one wrestler better then all the rest….”</p><p> </p><p> The Canadian national anthem began to play, but as the music began to fade it changed to a lyric that many in the crowd may not recognize but was the anthem “Gens du pays,” the unofficial anthem of the province of Quebec in Canada. Before he could get too far he was interrupted by Jim Duggan who came storming out to the ring to complain about Martel putting Texas down and then he started a U-S-A chant, but in the process turned his back on Richard Martel who wasted no time nailing him behind with his flag pole, before planting it on Duggan’s head and posing on his back while Gens du pays began to play once more.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Match 5: Title vs. Career: WCW United States Heavyweight Championship: “Stunning” Steve Austin vs. Larry Zbyszko<p> Body of the Match: As the bell rang Larry Zbyszko took the opportunity to look out towards the fans, soaking it all in for perhaps the last time. “Stunning” Steve did not let it last though as he started to run his mouth, pulling the “Living Legend” out of the moment. The two men drew close to each other with Austin constantly running his mouth, until Larry finally responded with a slap across the face that dropped Austin to the mat where he rolled out of the ring. Larry followed behind him and turned Austin around before dropping him to the mat with a well-placed blow to the face. Pulling Austin up Larry rolled him back into the ring….and Austin kept rolling back out of the ring. Irate Larry almost went after Austin again, but instead he stopped and sat on the middle rope daring Austin to get back into the ring. Tentatively Austin climbed up on the ring apron, but dropped back off as Larry shifted his weight. Now even referee Mickey Jay was getting annoyed and he started to count Austin out at an increased pace. That resulted in Austin climbing slowly back into the ring, but as soon as Larry moved Austin moved quickly and backed up into a corner with his eyes never leaving Zbyszko. After trying to get Austin to lock up with his hands for a few times, Larry and Austin finally locked up before Austin took Larry down with a Waistlock. Both men rolled around on the ring mat before coming to their feet just to have Larry take Austin down with a Hiptoss followed up by a Short arm scissors. Austin broke that up by getting the ropes, although Larry took a long time to break the move. When both men were back on their feet Larry continued to work over the arm, but Austin broke free by driving his elbow back into the face of Larry. Zbyszko responded by punching Austin the ribs before locking in an Abdominal Stretch while pounding away at the ribs. That did not last for very long as Austin flipped him over, before going to work on Larry’s knee to set up for one of his submission finishers. Austin dropped an elbow onto Larry’s knee joint, but spent too much time talking to the crowd as Larry managed to grab his hair and pulled his head back into a LarryLand Dreamer! Desperately Austin forced his hands into Larry’s mouth and started to pull down on the jaw forcing Larry to break the hold. They both came to their feet and Austin backed Larry into a corner where he got his leg up on the middle rope and kicked at it, before swiping Larry across the eye and doing it again. Pulling his challenger out of the corner, the United States Champion tried to end the match with a Stun Gun but Larry blocked that with a thumb to the eye, before grabbing Austin by the hair and dragging him across the ring and driving his head into the top turnbuckle repeatedly. Larry picked Austin up like he was going to Slam him…but instead hung him upside in the ropes in a tree of woe and started to kick away at his head. Austin managed to get one foot free…..and then Larry went back to kicking him again until Austin fell down. Larry waited for him to climb to his feet before taking him down with a Swinging Neckbreaker! The “Living Legend” climbed to his feet and indicated it was over before locking Austin in the LarryLand Dreamer!! “Stunning” Steve started to flail about desperately throwing elbows around, with one inadvertently taking Mickey Jay down. Austin took advantage with a low blow that dropped Larry to the ground, before pushing Larry backwards onto Mickey Jay as he was trying to get up. Rolling out of the ring Austin grabbed a steel chair that he slid into the ring. He waited for Larry to stand up before hitting him with the steel chair! He went for another steel chair shot….but Larry caught the chair with his hands and pulled it away from Austin. Larry was threatening to hit Austin with the steel chair…..just as Mickey Jay came to his feet and was looking back and forth at them. Zbyszko immediately tried to plead his case as Mickey jay looked like he was going to call for the disqualification….while Austin just decided to pick an unexpected Larry up and drop him across the top rope….with the steel chair still in his hands and between his face and the top rope!! Larry dropped to the mat and Austin went for the pin fall and forced Mickey Jay down to his knee’s for the count. With Mickey out of the way Austin also managed to get his feet up on the second rope for the one……two….THREE!! Larry’s career was over!! </p><p> Finish of the Match: Steve Austin pinned Larry Zbyszko at 13:17</p><p> My Thoughts: The match started off slowly but the pace picked up near the end and while it’s sad to see Larry’s career ended it was the right time. And the way that Austin got the victory progresses his evolution as one of the best heel’s in the wrestling industry right now. 83</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Match 6: “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff vs. Paul Roma<p> Body of the Match: Paul Roma was out first and when Paul Orndorff did not make his way out right away he ordered the bell to ring and a ten count to begin. The count got to nine before Mr Wonderful made his way out from the back with his arm bandaged after the attack from Paul Roma but he was ready for a fight. As he got into the ring Roma immediately went after the arm, but Orndorff was so angry that it seemed to have little effect. The story of the match quickly became about Mr Wonderful beating on Roma, and then Roma having to go after the arm to try and regain control. The end of the match saw “Mr Wonderful” use the un injured arm to drop Paul Roma with a Clothesline, before pulling him to his feet, looking out at the fans before raising him up and dropping him in the middle of the ring with a Piledriver! As Orndorff climbed to his feet it was obvious he was not done though as he pulled Paul up and threw him through the ropes to the outside, before dropping out with him. Outside the ring Orndorff looked down at Paul Roma who was trying to pull himself up using Orndorff’s legs….but that put him in perfect position for a PILEDRIVER ON THE FLOOR! “Mr Wonderful” rolled Roma into the ring, climbed in and put one foot on the chest before posing while the referee counted the three count. </p><p> Finish of the Match: Paul Orndorff pinned Paul Roma at 7:31 after a Piledriver</p><p> My Thoughts: A story was told, with Roma going after the arm, but this wasn’t much of a match although it was sort of enjoyable to see Roma get destroyed like he was. Perhaps you’d expect that would be to the advantage of the Steiner Brothers, but it was Harlem Heat that ook advantage of it first as they bashed the brother’s heads together. They went to follow that up with an Irish Whip of Scott and Rick into each other, but the Steiner’s reversed it and sent Booker T and Stevie Ray crashing into each other instead! That was followed up by tandem Belly to Belly Suplexes and that resulted in Harlem Heat rolling out of the ring to go and talk with Sherri. The Steiner’s followed them outside allowing the fight to continue with Sherri quickly having to get out of the way. Booker T and Scott fought back into the ring leaving Stevie Ray and Rick Steiner outside, which didn’t last long as Stevie was about to overpower Rick Steiner and drove him back first into the guard rail before entering the ring and double teaming Scott with his brother. Stevie and Booker T took turns punching and kicking away at Scott Steiner before they combined to send him off of the ropes with a Double Irish Whip and attempted a Double Clothesline, but Scott went flying through both of them with his own Clotheslines although his reprieve was only for a few moments as Stevie and Booker T recovered and went right after him again. As all three men came to their feet Booker T and Stevie worked together to take Scott down with a double Bicycle Kick! After the two had worked Scott over for a bit longer Booker T went to the top turnbuckle, while Stevie Ray was holding Scott standing on his feet. Looking to save his younger brother Rick Steiner jumped up on the ring apron and tried to hold Booker T down. It lasted long enough that Scott was able to drop down with a Jawbreaker, and Stevie popped back to his feet….just as Booker T came flying off with a Missile Dropkick that connected with Stevie! Scott quickly went after Booker T and sent him over the top rope to the outside with a variation of an Overhead Belly to Belly Suplex. That left Scott and Rick in the ring with Stevie all alone and they were looking to finish this match off. While Rick climbed to the top turnbuckle, Scott sent Stevie off of the ropes with an Irish Whip, and as he got near Rick the Dog-Faced Gremlin leapt from the top rope with a Steinerline that dropped Stevie and Rick quickly went for the pin fall but Stevie managed to kick out at two. Working together Rick and Scott dragged Stevie to his feet and attempted to go for a Double Vertical Suplex but Stevie was able to block that. The Steiner’s tried one more and again Stevie blocked it…and then Booker T got back into the ring and went and joined his brother….and they managed to Suplex both Steiner’s at once!! Both members of Harlem Heat went for the pin fall but both Rick and Scott managed to kick out at two. All four men slowly climbed to their feet before Booker T struck with a quick Harlem Sidekick dropping Scott Steiner. Stevie rolled Scott out of the ring, while Booker T doubled Rick over with a kick to the gut and then dropped him with an Axe Kick! Scott Steiner reached in and tripped Stevie Ray, sending him falling right onto Booker T as he was attempting to get the pin fall on Rick and that broke up the count. Scott slid back into the ring and took Stevie down with a Steiner-Line to the back of the head, but Booker was ready as him and Scott Steiner took turns now kicking and Chopping at each other. Finally Booker doubled Scott over looking to end him with an Axe Kick as well, but seeing Rick on his feet Booker changed directions quickly and tried to catch Rick with a Harlem Sidekick…but Rick ducked and Booker T’s leg went over the top rope crotching him on the ropes. Scott Steiner was back on his feet and he ran at Booker T and sent him over the ropes with another Steiner-Line….but Booker’s foot got twisted in the ropes so that he was hanging upside down! That allowed Scott to pick Steier up on his shoulder’s and Rick came off the top rope with a Bulldog and went for the pin fall for the one…..two….three!!! The Champions had retained!!! </p><p> Finish of the Match: Rick Steiner pinned Stevie Ray at 17:56 following a Steinerizer</p><p> My Thoughts: I didn’t think these two teams would be able to top their Saturday Night Main Event match….but boy was I wrong! They actually managed to have the best match of the year thus far in WCW with this one as the stipulation allowed for them to brawl and work double team moves to really put over their roles as dominant tag teams. 92</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> A video was shown of the Nasty Boys and the Stable Stallions fighting in the back, with the Nasty’s bouncing Prichard and Gorgeous off of walls, and tables, and whatever else they could get their hands on. It should be no surprise then that after things started off quickly with Tito Santana entering the right on fire with a series of punches and then an attempted Flying Forearm that things settled down with Simmons ducking and then staring to work Tito over with a series of different Chin locks. Santana tried to get away from Simmons, but the former All American responded with a blow aimed at Tito’s still recovering arm and the pain stopped Tito in his path. Simmons bounced off of the ropes and took Tito down with a Shoulder Tackle aimed at the injury, before Simmons flipped him over and pressed his knee down on the injured arm and started to pull up on it. Ron dragged Tito around by the arm before sending him off the ropes and catching him with a Snap powerslam for a two count. Simmons looked to put Tito away for good with a Thrust Spinebuster but Tito managed to get enough height off of it that he was able to reverse into a Headscissors takedown before again connecting with a Flying Forearm….but it was with his sore arm and that caused enough pain that Tito was rolling around holding his injured arm. That allowed Ron Simmons tor ecover and put Tito away with a Dominator! </p><p> Finish of the Match: Ron Simmons pinned Tito Santana at 7:41 following a Dominator</p><p> My Thoughts: This match was definitely in a rough spot between two big matches, but they went out there and worked a simple storyline to calm the crowd down but still kept them invested with Simmons work on Satana’s arm injury. 74</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Match 9: WCW World Heavyweight Championship: Ric Flair © vs. Cactus Jack<p> Body of the Match: Personal feelings bubbled to the forefront in this one as the two began the match in the middle of the ring with words being exchanged between them. The camera could only pick up a few things like Flair calling Jack a “glorified stuntman” to his face and Jack’s response led to Flair giving a cocky “woooooo,” but Cactus did not stop speaking as his words started to come out quicker and quicker and finally Flair’s eye’s widened and it was clear that whatever Cactus had said had struck a nerve because now Flair was ready for a fight and he wound up his arm and punched Flair right in the face. Cactus did take a step back, but then he was back in Flair’s face and called for more, going so far as to punch his own face. Flair fired off with a series of punches and Chop’s that backed Cactus up into the corner, and there Flair just let Cactus have it. Finally Flair backed up and he started to beg on his hands and knee’s as he realized that his attack had little effect on Cactus except to make him angry. Cactus spun Flair around so that he was in the corner and fired away with some rapid fire rights, before pulling Flair out of the corner and going for a very quick Double Arm DDT. The match may have been over if Flair hadn’t dropped to his knee’s forcing Cactus to break the hold and allow the Champion to roll out of the ring. Cactus climbed out on the ring apron to go after Flair, but the Champion reacted by quickly pulling Jack’s legs out from underneath him and dropping him on the ring apron. With Jack on his back on the ring apron Flair measured him up before punching him in the face, and then turning to let a “wooooooo” out for the crowd. Ric pulled Cactus off of the ring apron and went to flip Jack over with a Hip Toss on the floor…but Cactus blocked that and reversed into a Swinging Neckbreaker on the floor. Pulling Flair up by the hair Jack sent him flying into the ring steps, before backing up and running full tilt looking to catch Flair in the head with a knee against the ring steps. The Champion managed to get out of the way just in time and Cactus ran knee first into the ring steps, taking them out and flipping over and landing on his back holding onto his knee. Flair rolled back into the ring and did a cocky strut, before rolling out of the ring and helping Cactus to his feet just to nail him with a couple of hard Chops with Jack leaning against the guard rail. Ric finally rolled him back into the ring and yelled to the crowd about taking Jack “to school.” As the Champion climbed into the ring he was suddenly caught by surprise as Jack recovered enough to run at Flair and take both men back out of the ring with the Cactus Clothesline! Slowly both men started to make their way to their feet, with Cactus being the first up he was able to go on the offensive and connected with a Discus Clothesline that put Flair back on his back. Knowing that to win the belt Cactus needed a victory in the ring he pulled Flair up and rolled him into the ring before walking up the stairs on his bad knees and standing on the ring apron. Flair intercepted him and the two began to fight on the ring apron, with Cactus grabbing Ric and dropping down across the top rope. He stood back on his feet and Flair started to punch away at his head, and then firing away with a Chop….and JACK FELL BACKWARDS OFF OF THE RING APRON AND RIGHT ONTO HIS BACK OUTSIDE THE RING! The WCW World Heavyweight Champion rolled out of the ring to help Cactus to his feet and rolled him into the ring so that he could begin working on Jack’s knee. After the usual stuff Flair pulled Cactus to the middle of the ring and locked on the Figure Four….which proved to be a BIG mistake. Instead of causing Jack to submit to the pain it seemed to wake him up! Jack pulled himself to a crouching position….and started to hammer away on Ric’s leg until Flair was forced to break the submission hold lest Cactus wreck his knee for good. As both men humbled to their feet it was Cactus who seemed to have the more energy and he struck quickly with the Double Arm DDT! Unfortunately the move was hit with such force that Flair rolled close to the ropes and when Cactus went for the pin fall referee Mickey Jay had to explain that he couldn’t could with Flair’s foot under the bottom rope. Cactus dragged him out from under the ropes and went for the pin fall but by this time Flair had recovered to the point where he kicked out at two. Cactus picked Flair up and placed him in a Tree of Woe, before slowly backing up….and then running and dropping an elbow on Flair’s face! The ‘Nature Boy’ dropped from the turnbuckle and Cactus went for a pin fall but again only got two. He tried to pull Flair to his feet, but Ric responded by getting a quick clip of the knee in on Cactus that dropped him and Flair went for the pin fall but this time it was Cactus who got his shoulder up at two. Both men wearily climbed to their feet with each having to wonder what it would take to put the other man down for the three count. Arn Anderson came running down from the back and climbed up on the ring apron to talk to Flair who was leaning in the corner which didn’t make Cactus Jack or Mickey Jay happy. Flair came out of the corner finally with some Chop’s and blows aimed to distract the referee as Anderson took the time to undo the padding on the top turnbuckle before dropping off of the ring apron. Cactus fired back at Flair and dropped him to the mat before running off the ropes….and doing a Baseball Slide under the ropes and dropping Anderson with a Clothesline. Cactus pulled him away from the ring before climbing up on the apron, doing the trademark Bang! Bang! and dropping an elbow off of the ring apron on Anderson!! Slowly Cactus climbed up on the ring apron and Flair came running over to grab him by the hair and tried to run him along the ring apron and smash his head into the exposed turnbuckle….but Cactus blocked…and bashed Flair’s head into the turnbuckle instead!! Flair took a step back….and then fell face first to the mat! Breathing heavily now Cactus Jack climbed to the top turnbuckle looking to end this match…..but just as Cactus was standing on the top rope Ric Flair somehow managed to get to his feet and he grabbed Jack by the ankle’s and pulled forward. This cause Cactus Jack to drop straight down off of the turnbuckle….and bash the back of his shoulders/neck/head off of the steel turnbuckle!! He took one step forward and the Champion rolled him up with a Small Package for the one…..two….three!! </p><p> Finish of the Match: Ric Flair pinned Cactus Jack at 22:59</p><p> My Thoughts: That looked like it might be painful for Cactus there…but also showed the length it would take to beat Cactus when the World title is on the line. That’s two years in a row that Cactus has practically died in the Main Event of Halloween Havoc trying to win the belt. As for the match itself things didn’t quite click, almost like the two men couldn’t agree on what style of match they wanted which seemed to hold it back from having a coherent storyline throughout the match…outside of Jack trying to kill himself that is. 82</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Overall Rating: By my ranking this show had not only my best WCW match of the year (thus far) but three of the top ten overall so to say that it was a winner would be an understatement. If the Main Event had been just slightly better I think this would have been the best show of the year hands down, but at is is there have been a couple of episodes of Saturday Night I need to give the slight edge too. 84</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Pick 'Em Contest:<p> </p><p> Beejus: 7</p><p> 2Sweet: 5</p></div></blockquote>

This past week saw the big AAA/WCW collaboration with the "When World's Collide" PPV. As mentioned in previous newsletters Eric Bischoff is looking towards future international growth as the way to have WCW compete with the WWF and in doing so he continues to grow the relationships he has with major companies like AAA and NJPW. AAA also wanted to use this PPV as a way to test the strength of their product in the United States to build on the momentum from house shows they have ran in the last year in Los Angeles. On that front it would have to be considered a success. The show officially drew 12,024 paid (about 13,000 total in the building set up for 16,000) and $202,465. Of the five Los Angeles AAA/IWC house shows over the past 15 months, this was the third biggest crowd and gate and also the third best show. Ironically, of the five shows, both the gate and quality of the shows rated one through five would be in the same order, with the debut show as the best show they've run, followed by March '94, this show, the November '93 and bringing up the rear both in show quality and gate was the August '94 show. It was the strongest of the five line-ups on paper and in drawing power, but didn't sellout. For whatever this is worth, the number of non-Mexican American fans seemed much higher than at any of the previous five shows.</p><p> </p><p>

The announcing of the PPV has drawn plenty of rave reviews with most praise being given to Mike Tenay who had the important task of introducing a new style of wrestling to the American PPV audience, get across the personalities of the wrestlers, while also making sure to give depth to the history of the promotion, style and story lines. Since Eric Bischoff seemed to have a big part in the production aspects of the PPV, including the announcing, it would not be surprising to see this job lead to something in WCW proper in the future for Mike Tenay. </p><p> </p><p>

As for the show itself:</p><p> </p><p>

Mascaro Ano 2000 pinned Jake Roberts with a Small Package at 17:32 (74)</p><p> </p><p>

Octagonicito defeated Jerrito Estrada after a Tope Suicida at 7:57 (42)</p><p> </p><p>

Fuerza Guerrera, Madonna’s Boyfriend, and Psicosis defeated Rey Misterio Jr, Super Calo and Latin Lover when Fuera Guerrera pinned Super Calo at 11:47 with a Fuerza Punt (66)</p><p> </p><p>

Perro Aguayo defeated Lizmark at 18:18 with a La Lanza to win the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship title (67)</p><p> </p><p>

In a decent match, Cien Caras, Chris Benoit, Too Cold Scorpio, Jerry Estrada and Juventud Guerrera defeated Blue Panther, Rey Misterio Sr., Tito Santana, La Parka and Misterioso in 25:10; Tito Santana was eliminated first, then Too Cold Scorpio, then Blue Panther, then Chris Benoit, then La Parka, then Rey Misterio Sr., then Juventud Guerrera, then Jerry Estrada, and finally Misterioso. (63)</p><p> </p><p>

In a bout that had great heat and good wrestling, Volador and Octagon defeated La Pareja del Terror in a Hair vs Mask match in 22:44 by two straight falls, with the final fall happening when Volador defeated Love Machine by pinfall with a Hurracarana. After the match Machine & Guerrero cut most of their hair off with scissors before going backstage and getting the rest taken off (they showed a clip later in the show of Guerrero getting shaved backstage with the electric razor).</p><p> </p><p>

After all the build up for La Pareja del Terror in the last few years this may have seemed like a rather flat ending with them losing the main event in two straight falls which brings us to the bad news. The truth is this was the end for both wrestlers in AAA and Antonio Pena wanted to make sure that Volador and Octagon went over strongly so that rival CMLL would not be tempted to try and bring Art Barr and/or Eddy Guerrero in. As for what brought it to this point? It's been known for some while that Art Barr has been an incident waiting to happen, and when he showed up for the PPV many backstage said it was clear he was in no shape to wrestle due to a drugged up state. If it was not for how important this PPV was there is a good chance that he would have been let go sooner, but he was allowed to go out there and fortunately Eddy was able to hold the match together so that it was as good as it was. But after the show was over Pena made a very public display of telling Barr he had enough and sent him on his way. There was already talk that Guerrero would not be re-signing with AAA due to his NJPW commitments and his hope to get more exposure in the US as part of his ECW deal, so it may not be much of a surprise that he came to the defense of his friend and tag partner and quit on the spot. Of course the question is now what happens to both men, and where does AAA go from here?</p><p> </p><p>

OOC: I have the next show all written up and will be posting it on Sunday for sure, but just wanted to give everyone one last chance to enter the United States Tag Team Championship Tournament as it begins with the next show and predictions will no longer be taken.</p>

Notably absent was Cactus Jack who Tony and Bobby quickly discussed was because he had been kept in the hospital this week for observation after the scary fall at Halloween Havoc. Bockwinkel had a microphone and began to explain to everyone what this meeting was about:</p><p> </p><p> “I promised a few weeks back that I had big plans for Starrcade and that it began with the six man tag team match at Halloween Havoc. While I don’t appreciate what you (Vader) and you (Ray Traylor) did in respects to that match I have decided not to penalize you for your actions and intent to proceed as planned. Which leads to the big announcement about the Main Event of Starrcade….it will be the match that we were supposed to get a few months back a match to determine ONE true UNDISPUTED Champion of the World. It will be the World Heavyweight Champion vs the International World Heavyweight Champion and there WILL be a winner that is a guarantee….but that’s an announcement for another day. I gathered you all here to speak about how we are going to get to that night because I want to make sure that the men who are fighting in that Main Event are the very best of the best and right now I am surrounded by the best wrestlers in this company and I want to make sure that are two Champions have gone through the competition on their way to unifying the two World titles. And that begins with a Road to Starrcade Tournament with the four men from that six man tag team match and it begins….TONIGHT! In one match it will be Vader against Dustin Rhodes and in the other match it will be Ricky Steamboat against “Rampage” Ray Traylor and the winners of those two matches will face each other NEXT week to determine the perfect challenger for….Sting and the WCW International World Heavyweight Championship at Clash of the Champions on November 16th. Now don’t get too excited Ric I haven’t forgotten about you or the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Your challenger for Clash of the Champions will be determined next week in our Main Event that will see….’The Enforcer’ Arn Anderson, your best friend against the man whose career you tried to end last week….Cactus Jack!!” </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>Match 1: Paul Roma vs. The Belfast Bruiser</strong><p> Body of the Match: Paul Roma walked out from the back alternating between holding his neck and telling the camera that Paul Orndorff hadn’t injured him that badly. The Belfast Bruiser looked to put that to the test right away as he had been standing in the ring, without any fanfare or entrance on television, when Roma entered the ring and he went right after him with a European Uppercut to start the match. Bruiser continued to work over the neck at every opportunity, and whenever Roma looked like he might take over all it took was a shot to the neck and The Belfast Bruiser would be back in control. The end came with The Belfast Bruiser actually getting a Sleeper on the injured neck, and then forcing Roma to the mat and locking in a Body Scissors and yanking back on the neck until Roma had to submit. </p><p> Finish of the Match: The Belfast Bruiser made Paul Roma submit at 7:35</p><p> My Thoughts: The fans still really don’t know who The Belfast Bruiser is and as such they were shocked to see him get the victory over Roma. Vader shrugged them off as he got into the ring and Dustin ran off the ropes and came running back at Vader but had to duck quickly as Vader went for a Lariat, bounced off the other side of the ring and came back with a Clothesline on Vader. That didn’t drop Vader, so Dustin backed off the ropes again and caught Vader with another Clothesline. This time Vader took one step backwards, so Dustin went for a third….just to get ran over with a Lariat from Vader! Vader grabbed Dustin by the hair and pulled him straight up to his feet before tossing him over the rope to the floor outside. Referee Mickey Jay was quickly in Vader’s face threatening to disqualify him if he tried something like that again. It looked like that might have been part of the plan as Harley Race was using the distraction to go over and kick Dustin as he was on the mat. Finally he pulled Dustin to his feet and smacked him across the face before rolling him into the ring where Vader was waiting. It looked like Vader might try to end this match early with a Powerbomb but Dustin caught him with a knee to the gut followed by an Elbow to the head, and then another, before going up the ropes and coming off with a third Bionic Elbow to the head! Dustin wasn’t done though….he picked Vader up and dropped him with a Body Slam!! Quickly Rhodes went for the pin fall but Vader kicked out…and kicked out with such force that he sent Dustin flying through the bottom and middle ring rope to the ring apron. Harley Race once again tried to come over and take advantage of it, but this time Dustin reacted quicly and dropped Harley with a fist before climbing up on the ring apron and going to the top rope. It looked like Dustin was doing for a Crossbody off of the turnbuckle but Vader caught him out of the air, walked to the middle of the ring and dropped forward! Back on his feet Vader dropped onto Dustin with a Splash, before climbing to his feet and bouncing off of the ropes and dropping another Splash! The camera suddenly switched to show Dusty Rhodes outside of the ring looking on obviously worried about his son. Vader grabbed Dustin by the wrist and dragged him to the corner where he set up for a Pump Handle Splash…but Dustin managed to get his knees up and Vader landed on them! Hard to tell who was worse for the wear though as Dustin climbed to his feet but he was holding his knee and stumbled into the corner. Seeing Dustin leaning in the corner Vader quickly took advantage with an Avalanche in the corner, before pulling Dustin in for a Short Arm Lariat before climbing to the top…and nailing the Moonsault!! ONE….TWO…TH….DUSTIN KICKED OUT!! On the outside Dusty let out a loud cheer that attracted the attention of Vader, and seemed to set him off as he had no mercy on Dustin from there on out. He pulled Dustin to his feet and took him down with another Short Arm Lariat before tossing him through the ropes to the outside, and following him out. Vader helped Dustin up, just to run and throw him towards the guard rail so hard that Dustin flipped in midair before colliding with the guard rail! While Dusty watched Vader pulled Dustin up and drove him face first into the ring pole before rolling him into the ring. When Vader got into the ring Dustin tried to mount some offense but Vader brushed him off and then smacked him across the head and Dustin dropped to his knee’s before Vader picked him up and dropped him with a Powerbomb! Vader didn’t go for a pin fall, instead looking at Dusty as he pulled Dustin to his feet and dropped him with another Powerbomb! Now the “American Dream” had seen enough and he went to climb up on the ring apron, and Vader reacted by walking over and clubbing him in the head and knocking him off. That didn’t stop Harley Race from helping him up and holding him as Vader dropped Dustin with a third Powerbomb and now referee Mickey Jay rang the bell saying that Dustin was out! Vader had moved on to next week and would face the winner of Ricky Steamboat and Ray Traylor. </p><p> Finish of the Match: Vader won by knock out at 17:49</p><p> My Thoughts: Wow….someone found a way to reignite the fire in Vader as he just DESTROYED Dustin tonight to the point where it was almost painful to watch…and the drama with Dusty being there to watch it just took this match to another level, Steamboat and Traylor are going to have a hard time topping that one! 84</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Vader was not done though! After the match he dragged Dustin Rhodes out from the ring and picked him up and Powerbombed him on the ground! Dusty Rhodes tried to get to Vader but Harley Race got in his way as Vader pulled Dustin Rhodes to his feet….and dropped him with another one!! Now the referee was threatening to reverse the decision of the match so Vader smirked down at Rhodes before walking away yelling “who’s the man!?”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>Match 5: Dave Sullivan vs. Rip Rogers</strong><p> Body of the Match: Dave Sullivan made his triumphant return after his brother had injured him prior to Fall Brawl….with a pretty sucky match. Fortunately it was ended when the ‘3 surly old men’ made their way out from the back and attacked Dave Sullivan. Rip Rogers quickly got out of the ring and left Sullivan at the mercy of Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and Terry Funk. </p><p> Finish of the Match: Dave Sullivan won by disqualification when Ric Flair and Arn Anderson attacked him at 8:03.</p><p> My Thoughts: Dave Sullivan is just NOT a good wrestler and so this was not surprising that it wasn’t all that good. Terry Funk was watching from behind, not quite taking part, but not doing anything to stop the attack either while Dave Sullivan cried out in pain. Finally Flair broke the hold and three men left with Flair stopping to look in the camera and telling Jack to “not even show up” next week!</p><p> </p><p> After a commercial break Gene Okerlund was with The Steiner Brothers and Harlem Heat for a brief little interview where the two teams shook hands and The Steiner Brothers wished Harlem Heat well in their bid for the United States Tag Team Championship. When they finally did lock up Traylor sent Steamboat flying with a shove, but Steamboat was not about to be intimidated as he came back at Traylor with some Chops and a Dropkick. ‘The Dragon’ went for another Dropkick but this time it had no effect as Steamboat landed on the mat, but then “Rampage” caught him with an Enziguri! Looking to take advantage of the downed Steamboat, Traylor kicked away at the head a few times before pulling him up and throwing him down across the middle rope before going for a quick attempt at the Leapfrog body guillotine but Steamboat moved and Traylor bounced off of the ropes and fell backwards onto the mat. Ricky pulled Traylor away from the ropes and dropped down for a pin fall attempt but “Rampage” kicked out at two. As Steamboat tried to pull Traylor to his feet, “Rampage” reacted by raising Steamboat straight up into the air before dropping him face first onto the mat. Now it was Traylor who was pulling his opponent to his feet, before sending him off the ropes and catching him with a Big boot on the way back. He looked to follow that up with a Big Splash but Steamboat rolled out of the way and then he tried to roll Traylor over into an Oklahoma Roll but Traylor blocked that and both men came to their feet with “Rampage” catching Steamboat with an Uppercut that dropped Steamboat against the ropes. Traylor sent him off of the ropes and then put his head down as Steamboat came back. ‘The Dragon’ quickly changed direction and slid onto Traylor’s back and tried to get him over with a Crucifix pin fall….but “Rampage” stood up, and instead lifted Steamboat up onto his shoulders before dropping backwards with a Samoa Drop. “Rampage” went to the top turnbuckle, but Steamboat quickly came after him and caught him with Chops to stop Traylor’s momentum and then he climbed up and attempted a Superplex! But “Rampage” broke that up with Headbutts and pushed Steamboat off of the ropes to the mat, before climbing back to his feet on the turnbuckle again. Persistently Steamboat raced back up the ropes and this time he did bring Traylor down with a Superplex! Both men were down!! It was ‘The Dragon’ who managed to get to his feet first, and he slowly climbed to the top turnbuckle…but this time it was Traylor who intercepted him….ANOTHER SUPERPLEX!! This time it was “Rampage” got was up first and he went for the pin fall but Steamboat kicked out just in time. Traylor was able to beat on him for a bit, before he looked to win the match with the Rampage Slam……BUT STEAMBOAT REVERSED IT INTO A CRUCIFIX PIN FALL FOR THE ONE…..TWO….THREE!!! Steamboat would face Vader next week!! </p><p> Finish of the Match: Ricky Steamboat pinned Ray Traylor at 17:59 after a Crucifix pin fall</p><p> My Thoughts: Vader vs Dustin was clearly the superior match as it looked maybe these two men were trying to go for an epic of a match but it just didn’t work for some reason. Maybe because Traylor just doesn’t know how to tell that sort of match or maybe he’s just not used to going as long as he did in this match. 75</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Overall Rating: Well the Road to Starrcade is set with the big unification match announced for Starrcade although the next couple of weeks are going to be big for determining exactly who will make it, maybe survive is the better word to use after tonight’s destruction of Dustin Rhodes, and we’ve got two big matches to look forward to next week! 80</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>WCW Main Event 10-30-1994<p> </p><p> Eric Bischoff and Rick Rude went over Saturday Night with Eric Bischoff being appalled at the damage that Vader had inflicted and Rick Rude saying that he hoped Vader beat Steamboat so that he could do the same to Sting at Clash of the Champions! With the high stakes, and the emotions that Ricky Steamboat had to be feeling towards Vader for what he had done to his friend Dustin, it should be no surprise that this match started very quickly. Steamboat didn’t even wait for Vader to get into the ring before he was peppering him with Chops and then a Dropick that dropped Vader off of the ring apron and down to the mat. Steamboat followed that up by quickly going to top turnbuckle and dropping down with an Overhead Diving Chop to Vader outside the ring. Harley Race tried to get between Vader and Steamboat, but Ricky punches Race out and turned back towards Vader just to get knocked down by a punch from Vader. Vader rolled Ricky back into the ring before turning around to pose for the booing fans. In the ring Ricky ran off of the ropes and as Vader turned around he caught him right in the gut with a Baseball Slide. ‘The Dragon’ rolled out of the ring and Chopped Vader a few times, before smacking Vader’s head off of the ring apron. Steamboat rolled under the rope into the ring and then back out to break up the count and rolled Vader into the ring. Ricky climbed up on the ring apron, but Harley Race had recovered and reached up and grabbed Steamboat by the ankle. ‘The Dragon’ kicked Race’s hand off and turned around just to have Vader nail him in the face with a forearm again, before lifting him into the ring and bring Steamboat into the ring with a Suplex. With Steamboat on his back, Vader quickly climbed up onto the ropes looking for a Splash….but Steamboat got his foot up in Vader’s face. Vader fell back into the corner and Steamboat climbed up on the turnbuckle and started to slap Vader across the face!! Bad idea as an irate Vader suddenly pushed Steamboat up onto his shoulders, walked forward and dropped him with a very hard Powerbomb variant! Vader dropped down for the pin fall count, but Steamboat kicked out at one! Both men came to their feet and Steamboat jumped at Vader taking him over the top rope with a Crossbody…but somehow both men landed on their feet on the floor!! Ricky went back into the ring after a couple more Chops to Vader, and caught him with another Baseball slide this time to the back of the head. Still fired up Steamboat went back into the ring and came over the top rope with another Crossbody….but Vader caught him! And then ran him back first into the ring pole, before turning around and dropping straight down on the mat! Vader rolled back into the ring as referee Randy Anderson was doing the ten count….a ten count that Steamboat only JUST barely broke by getting back into the ring at the count of nine. With the match looking almost over ‘The Dragon’ got one last burst of energy from a second wind and caught Vader with a hard Karate Chop to the chest to take over, but that ended when Vader connected with a short arm Clothesline. Instead of letting go of Steamboat’s wrist, Vader held onto it and pulled Ricky back up and went for another one….but Steamboat reversed into a Crucifix position! He was going to go for a Crucifix pin fall like the one that defeated “Rampage” Ray Traylor last week!! Except Vader managed to stop his momentum and didn’t fall over….instead he walked to the middle of the ring and then fell backwards driving Steamboat into the ring. From there Vader went to the top turnbuckle and connected with a Vadersault! And another!! ONE….TWO…STEAMBOAT KICKED OUT!! Vader could not believe it, Harley Race could not believe it, the fans could not believe it! With a look of mounting shock Vader pulled Steamboat up and dropped him with another Powerbomb….for one…..two…th….Steamboat kicked out again!!! Now I couldn’t believe it! Instead of freaking out Vader quickly reacted by pulling Steamboat to the corner and connecting with a Pump Handle Slam that was FINALLY enough to put Ricky Steamboat away and gave Vader the shot at Sting and the WCW International World Heavyweight Championship at Clash of the Champions! </p><p> Finish of the Match: Vader pinned Ricky Steamboat at 18:04</p><p> My Thoughts: This was an action packed, emotionally filled, heated amazingly wrestled match one of the best of the year in WCW. The finish kept Ricky Steamboat incredibly strong, while setting up Sting vs. Vader which is always a great match. 90</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Gene Okerlund was ready to interview Vader after the match but instead he was interrupted by “Stunning” Steve Austin and the United States Championship with Austin talking about how he was already the best Champion in WCW when he was interrupted by Larry Zbyszko. Austin told Gene to get the “washed up has been out of here” or he was going to go to the back. Larry said he was just there to issue a challenge to Steve Austin from a man that Austin has always had troubles beating. Steve shook his head and said there was no man like that, but Larry reminded him that back in July Steve Austin had defended the United States Championship against a man he was only able to beat when there was a distraction from outside. He was Austin’s former partner….someone who knows Austin better then anyone else in WCW…..but before Larry could finish BRIAN PILLMAN blindsided Austin and Gene Okerlund was barely able to get out of the way as Pillman had thrown Austin to the ground and was kicking him in the head, and Larry had to pull Pillman off of him and restrain him because Pillman wanted to get his hands on Austin some more. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>Match 4: WCW World Tag Team Championship: The Steiner Brothers © vs. Bad Attitude</strong><p> Body of the Match: It was going to be hard to follow up that match, in fact the last half hour of this show has been amazing, but this was as good a match as any to try and keep things going. Eaton and Keirn tried to isolate Rick Steiner in their corner to get the edge, but a Double Steiner Line ended that when Rick tagged out to Scott and it was over soon after that when Scott managed to catch Keirn with a Frankensteiner! </p><p> Finish of the Match: Scott Steiner pinned Steve Keirn after a Frankensteiner at 8:19</p><p> My Thoughts: These two teams packed a lot in to the time allotted, and provided a fun little match. 78</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Gene Okerlund interviewed the Steiner Brother’s who started to speak about how they had conquered the tag team division and that they had been speaking to Nick Bockwinkel about their title defense at Starrcade and how they would be facing one of the best tag teams in the world….when they were interrupted by Paul Ellering and the Miracle Violence Connection who couldn’t understand why the Steiner’s were talking about Starrcade when their next challengers were right in front of them….a team that the Steiner’s had NEVER been able to beat! And indeed as soon as the bell ran Anderson went for a lock up, and then started to punch away at the back of Jack’s head looking to further injure the neck. That turned into a Side Headlock with Anderson really cranking on the neck as he forced Jack to the mat and then turned him over to go for a pin fall. When Jack kicked out at two Anderson went for another with his feet up on the ropes and again Jack was able to kick out. Arn climbed to his feet and bounced off of the ropes before looking to drop a knee to the back of Jack’s head but Cactus rolled out of the ring and Arn landed on the mat. Anderson fell forward and Cactus Jack reacted quickly by grabbing Arn by the head and attempting to go for a Pulling Piledriver, but Anderson sent him over with a Back Body Drop and Jack again landed on his neck. Again Anderson went to work on the neck trying to wear Cactus down to end this match quickly. After a Swinging Neckbreaker Anderson went for the pin fall, but Jack again kicked out. ‘The Enforcer’ pulled Cactus to his feet and went for an Irish Whip, but Jack reversed that into one of his own and then stopped Arn’s momentum with a knee to the gut. Anderson took a step backwards holding onto his gut, and Jack ran at him and caught him with the Cactus Clothesline taking both men out of the ring! Outside Jack raised Anderson up and dropped him with a Slam to the mat. Cactus climbed onto the ring apron and after taking a moment to catch his breath went for the Diving Elbow….but Anderson moved out of the way and Jack landed on the concrete as he missed the mat! Once again Anderson went for a Swinging Neckbreaker, dropping Jack’s neck on the concrete before rolling him into the ring. Anderson went for the pin fall when he slid back into the ring, but somehow Jack managed to kick out again. Arn dragged him by the leg to the middle of the ring and decided to switch things up by going for the leg as he locked on a Figure Four! That proved to be the wrong move as the pain woke Jack up and he reached across the ring and grabbed Anderson’s arm and pulled him close and then punched him in the face. Anderson fell backwards with his shoulders on the ring mat and the referee started to count a pin fall. Arn popped back up and Jack punched him again, and again Anderson went down for a two count. A third time he came up and a third time Jack punched him, and this time Arn just broke the Figure Four. As both men came to their feet Jack reacted with a quick Leg Drop on the back of Anderson’s head. He followed that up with a Pulling Piledriver for another two count. When that didn’t work Cactus finally reacted with ah Double Arm DDT and that was enough for Cactus to win the match and get the rematch with Ric Flair at Clash of the Champions! </p><p> Finish of the Match: Cactus Jack defeated Arn Anderson at 17:36 with a Double Arm DDT </p><p> My Thoughts: This was a good match, but at time the psychology was not quite there for example it was surprising to see Arn switch body parts that he was working on. 78</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> After the match Cactus did not have a moment to celebrate because Arn attacked him from behind and dropped him with a DDT, before Ric Flair made his way out from the back….with Terry Funk slowly following behind. Flair entered the ring and locked Cactus Jack in a Figure Four just like he had locked on Dave Sullivan the previous week and Anderson kicked away at the leg looking to inflict the same sort of damage to Cactus Jack that they had on Sullivan. Terry Funk was watching……until he finished pushed Arn away from Jack! Funk then pulled Flair’s legs off of Cactus Jack, but Anderson attacked Funk from behind. Terry fought back, and then threw himself on Cactus Jack trying to use his own body to shield him from Anderson and Flair as the show came to an end. </p><p> </p><p> Overall Rating: The middle portion of this show was just out of this world, from the ‘3 surly old men’ responding to Cactus Jack through to the tag team title match between the Steiner Brothers and Bad Attitude that was some of the best action in a row 84</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>WCW Main Event 11-06-1994<p> </p><p> Eric Bischoff and Rick Rude opened Main Event discussing the two title matches for Clash of the Champions, with Rude taking shots at Sting and promising Vader will defeat Sting (75)</p><p> </p><p> Toshiaki Kawada defeated Frank Andersson at 7:55 with a Folding Powerbomb (52)</p><p> </p><p> A recap of the brawl between the Stable Stallions and the Nasty Boys with the announcement that their quarter final match would be next week (58)</p><p> </p><p> The Speed Warriors defeated the State Patrol when SpeedBall pinned Sgt Buddy Lee Parker after a 50 MPH at 7:34 (57)</p><p> </p><p> Gordon Solie was interviewing Jim Duggan who wanted a match with Richard Martel when Martel walked out from the back and declared that he would face Duggan, but only if Duggan agreed that after he lost the match he would wave the “proud flag of the nation of Quebec” (61)</p><p> </p><p> "Le Magnifique" Rick Martel defeated Joey Maggs in 7:51 by submission with the Canadien Crab (56)</p><p> </p><p> An angry Terry Funk was with Boni Blackstone and said he was fed up with Ric Flair and Arn Anderson, that was not the sort of wrestler he was. <p><em>OOC: A couple of things I wanted to say before we begin; first off thank you for the many different votes in the Diary of the Month polls this month, very appreciated and from different "faces," and writers I respect so I am very humbled by that. Second, I'm sorry that the pace has slowed down, lots going on right now but hopefully after my brother's wedding in October things will slow down and I'll be able to get back to a quicker posting pace. Once the bell rang Jack wasted no time as he went right at Flair punching away until he had backed the Champion up into a corner. Jack then sent him across the ring with an Irish Whip, and Flair flipped right over the turnbuckle and started to run along the ring apron. Cactus had been anticipating that as he slid under the ropes to the outside with a Baseball Slide, and actually tripped Flair causing him to fall face first onto the ring apron!! Jack didn’t let up, grabbing Flair by the hair and lifting his head up before driving it down onto the ring apron….and then dragged Flair off of the ring apron, spun him around and then threw him into the guard rail. Cactus rolled back into the ring and broke up the count, before rolling out of the ring and running at Flair and both men went flying over the guard rail and into the crowd with a Cactus Clothesline!! Security had to quickly get the fans out of the way, and Randy Anderson was jumping out of the ring to both try and get both men back into the ring, but also to get between Arn Anderson and Terry Funk who had both made their way dangerously around the corner’s and was getting closer to the action. Ignoring Anderson’s plea to get back into the ring, Cactus once again grabbed Flair by the hair and then bounced his head off of the seat of a chair that had been exited by a fan. With a crazed look in his eyes Jack looked around at the fans who were loudly cheering for him, before he picked Flair up and gave him a Body Slam over the guard rail and onto the mat around the ring. Climbing over the guard rail Cactus looked to end not only the match but also Flair’s career as he set him up for a Piledriver out of the ring….but Flair managed to fight and sent Jack over backwards with a Back Body Drop before desperately rolling into the ring. Outside the ring Cactus Jack was holding his head, possibly having reinjured his neck/back from the last time he had faced Flair. At first Ric was fine with referee Randy Anderson counting Jack out, but once it looked like Cactus would manage to break the count Ric started to distract the referee while Arn Anderson started to sneak around the corner looking to go after Flair….but Terry Funk came running around the corner and got between Jack and Arn and threw up his fists ready to fight on behalf of Jack if need be. Cactus pulled himself into the ring and Flair quickly came over and dropped a knee to the back of the head of Jack. Now it was Flair who pulled Cactus to his feet by the hair and let loose with a series of Chops before pulling Jack out of the corner and taking him over with a Delayed vertical Suplex. Ric Flair then shifted his attack going after the knee of Cactus Jack, already trying to weaken the knee for the Figure Four. “The Nature Boy” let out a Wooooooooo before he finally dragged Jack to the middle of the ring and locked in the Figure Four. Just like at Halloween Havoc Cactus Jack fought out of the hold by punching away at Flair’s leg until Ric had to break the Figure Four. Jack was the first one to his feet and he approached Flair who was on his hands and knees begging for mercy from Jack. Cactus kicked Flair in the face, before pulling him up and dropping Ric with a Stump Puller before going for a pin fall but only getting two. Slowly Cactus climbed to his feet, before grabbing Flair by the legs and spreading them apart….before dropping a leg drop on Flair’s gut. Jack fell backwards holding his head which allowed for Flair to grab Jack’s legs and position himself into the Figure Four! They were right in the middle of the ring and it looked like it might be over as Flair kept the hold locked on. Finally Cactus managed to use all of his last bit of strength to pull Flair across the ring and get his hand on the bottom rope forcing the break. As both men climbed to their feet Flair grabbed Cactus by the leg and tried to lift him up for a Kneebreaker across his knee….but Jack fought against that with some punches to Flair’s head….before reversing into a Double Arm DDT! Both men were down and it took a while before Cactus pulled himself over and flipped Flair over and put one arm across his shoulders….ONE……TWO….T….FLAIR KICKED OUT! Once again both men came to their feet gingerly and it was Jack who reacted first with a Suplex on Flair that ended up with Flair hanging upside from the top turnbuckle. Cactus backed up into the opposite corner, ran across the ring and dropped an Elbow on Flair while he hung in the tree of woe. Slowly Jack climbed to his feet….and then collapsed holding his knee. While Cactus struggled to get back to his feet Flair had fallen down from the top turnbuckle and he saw that Jack was struggling and immediately took him down with a Chop block in the middle of the ring. That dropped Jack and Flair dragged him into the middle of the ring and locked on the Figure Four for a third time! There was no way Cactus was going to submit even though it was clear that he was in serious pain. The fans were on the edge of their seat….when a towel came flying over the top rope and dropped down in the middle of the ring. At first Randy Anderson didn’t see it, but Arn Anderson quickly got his attention and started to call for Randy to look at the towel. Anderson looked at it in confusion, before focusing on an upset Terry Funk outside the ring with Terry saying he had been the one who threw the towel into the ring. Jack still was not submitting, but Randy picked up the towel, looked at it….and then looked down at Jack with Flair yelling for Randy to call for the bell. Finally Randy raised his hand…..and called for the bell! Flair had retained and he would be defending the WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Starrcade! </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Finish of the Match: Ric Flair made Cactus Jack submit at 17:49</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> My Thoughts: This was a lot better than last month’s match thanks in big part to the very fast beginning. Also the ending of the match with Terry Funk throwing in the towel was a bit jarring and also continues to show how tough Cactus is. 88</div></div></div></div></blockquote><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> After the match Terry Funk climbed into the ring and was looking down at Cactus Jack….when Arn Anderson flipped Terry around. The fans were all waiting for the punches to be thrown…..when Anderson instead reached out and gave Terry Funk a hug. Soon Ric Flair was also there giving him a hug and the three men left the ring celebrating….although Terry Funk threw a glance over his shoulder to look at Cactus Jack as he was being attended to in the ring holding onto his knee.</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match 2: Greg Valentine vs. Marcus Alexander Bagwell</strong></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Body of the Match: Bagwell desperately wanted the win here so that he could get the match up against Bob Orton Jr at Starrcade so it was no surprise that after a lock up he quickly took Valentine over with a series of Hip Tosses, before hitting a Dropkick to send Valentine out of the ring to confer with Bob Orton Jr. Slowly “The Hammer” climbed back into the ring and locked up with Bagwell and then got a thumb to the eye before driving the point of his elbow into the back of Bagwell’s head a couple of times. He then sent Bagwell off of the ropes with an Irish Whip before catching him on the way back with a hard forearm to the chest that dropped Bagwell to his back. Bagwell bounced back to his feet and Valentine started to fire away with very hard Knife-Edge Chops that eventually resulted in Bagwell being backed into the corner. Greg pulled him out of the corner and lifted him up in the air before dropping him with a Rib breaker and dropping him on the mat, before climbing on the second turnbuckle and walking along the rope and dropping down with an Elbow on Bagwell for a two count. Pulling Bagwell up Greg locked on a Side headlock, but Bagwell broke that up and sent Valentine off of the ropes. As Greg came back Bagwell jumped over him with a Leapfrog before reaching back and pulling Greg into position for a Backslide but Valentine refused to go over. Finally when it looked like Bagwell was going to win the struggle, Orton Jr climbed up on the ring apron and reached in and grabbed Valentine’s hand to pull him forward so that Bagwell went down. By the time The Patriot reacted and pulled Orton Jr off of the ring apron, Bagwell was kicking out at the two count. Both men came to their feet and Bagwell reacted with a Sunset flip that Valentine kicked out. Bagwell went to the top turnbuckle and came off with a Diving Clothesline that too Valentine down. As Bagwell went for the pin fall Orton Jr once again climbed up on the ring apron to distract the referee, and this time Bagwell came over and started to yell at Orton. Valentine climbed to his feet and charged at Bagwell’s back, but when Bagwell moved Greg ran into Orton Jr and stumbled back and fell victim to a Yellow Jack Suplex…..and that was enough for Bagwell to get the three count….and the match against Orton at Starrcade!</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Finish of the Match: Marcus Alexander Bagwell pinned Greg Valentine at 7:32 with a Yellow Jacket Suplex</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> My Thoughts: This was an alright match and it got us to what should be the finale of the feud at Starrcade and I for one can’t wait to see these guy’s move onto something different to see what they can do. 62</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></blockquote><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match 3: WCW World Tag Team Championship: The Steiner Brothers © vs. The Miracle Violence Connection </strong></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Body of the Match: The match began with Rick Steiner and “Dr Death” Steve Williams in the match, with Rick Steiner rallying the fans around him as he ran around barking in the ring. Suddenly he dropped to his hands and knee’s, challenging the former “All American” amateur wrestler to come over and try and take him to his back. After hesitating for a few moments Steve Williams got down and the two men gave fans a bit of a amateur wrestling display as they fought over and over to see who could try and get the other to their back. Finally when neither man won that they came to their feet and decided to instead trying to take the other down with a stiff Clothesline. Back and forth they went with neither man being able to knock the other down, before Steve Williams tired of that and instead went low and pulled Rick off of his feet and dropped him with a Bodyslam. That was enough to almost draw Scott Steiner into the ring in protest but referee Dick Woehrle told him to get back out as “Dr Death” followed up with a Military Press Slam on Rick. Williams went to pull Rick to his feet but the Dog-Faced Gremlin went crazy with punches to Williams gut before climbing to his feet and went for an Irish Whip that Williams reversed and sent Rick into the ropes himself. Steiner left his feet and took Williams down with a Steinerline! An Overhead Belly to Belly Suplex sent Williams flying and Rick managed to tag out to his brother Scott. Scott jumped over the top rope to land in the ring and went to give Steve a Suplex of his own, but “Dr Death” broke the hold up and kicked Scott in the gut to take him down, before packing up and running Steiner over with a three-point stance tackle and dropped Scott down on to the second rope. Before Scott could bounce back Steve Williams made his way over to tag out to Terry Gordy. Gordy methodically made his way into the ring and challenged Scott to lock up and begin to twist his arm around, but Scott reversed it into his own arm twist, before going down and flipping Terry over with a Fireman’s Carry. Gordy did not like that as he rolled out of the ring and immediately started to have a bit of a tantrum jumping up and down and spinning around like a toddler. When he got back in the ring he challenged Scott for another lock up, but then kicked Scott in the gut and dragged him over to his corner to tag Steve Williams back in. Both men took turns kicking Scott in the corner before Williams tossed Scott through the ropes and out of the ring. He then turned to distracting the referee while Terry Gordy jumped off of the ring apron and dropped Scott outside of the ring. Terry rolled Scott back into the ring and then followed in behind him and the two men threw Scott back first into the corner which finally brought Rick Steiner into the ring which allowed Williams to take Scott down and he locked in a Single Leg Boston Crab. Scott pulled himself to the rope and forced the break, but Williams didn’t just let him go as he pulled him to his feet and tried to go for a German Suplex. Blocking that, Scott managed to reverse positions, before turning Steve Williams around and managing to get him up for a Double Underhook Powerbomb! Slowly Scott climbed to his feet and then fell backwards and tagged out to Rick Steiner who ran into the ring but was unable to get to Williams before he tagged back out to Terry Gordy. Terry entered the ring and ran Rick Steiner over with a Torpedo Lariat to put him on the mat setting Gordy up to get in his Oriental Spike. Rick Steiner fought against the hold, finally getting Gordy’s hands from around his neck…and then grabbed Terry by the thumb and looked like he was going to break it which was causing Gordy a lot of pain. Rick used that to get back to his feet and then dropped Terry with a Belly to Back Suplex. Steiner tried to make the way across the ring to his brother, but Gordy managed to tag out to Steve Williams who managed to get between Rick and Scott. In fact it looked like “Dr Death” might even end the match as he pulled Rick up on his shoulders and went for the Oklahoma Stampede!! When Williams went for the pin fall he was confused why Dick would not make the count. The fans had seen though…..when Williams got Rick up on his shoulders Scott had managed to tag out on his foot and was now waiting on the top turnbuckle. When Steve turned to face him Scott jumped off….CONNECTING WITH THE FRANKENSTEINER!!! Dick Woehrle may have cost the Steiner’s the match though as he would not start the count until Rick had removed himself from the ring, and by the time that happened and Dick dropped down for the count William’s not only manage to the break the count at three he actually reversed the pin fall for ONE….TWO…THR….SCOTT JUST BARELY GOT HIS SHOULDER UP IN TIME! As both men came to their feet it was Scott who reacted first with a Steinerline that was not enough to take Williams down, but he did back up and tag out to Terry Gordy once more before dropping down and following through the ropes to the outside. Gordy came into the ring looking down at his tag partner who was outside of the ring, before running across the ring to attack Scott Steiner! Gordy backed Scott into his corner where Rick tagged in by smacking Scott on the back, before Scott fought back and then spun Terry around and picked him up on his shoulders. Gordy was so busy punching away at Scott’s head that he didn’t see Rick climb to the top rope….and come flying off with a Bulldog on Terry Gordy! Unlike on the previous Saturday Night Gordy did not counter the move…he went down….for the one…..two…..three!!! </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Finish of the Match: Rick Steiner pinned Terry Gordy with a Steinerizer at 17:33</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> My Thoughts: I didn't think there was any way that the Steiner's would be able to top their match against Harlem Heat last week, but this match more then blew it away....I currently have it ranked as the best match I have seen from WCW this year. Richard Martel made his way out with the Quebec flag and immediately complained to Mark Curtis about Duggan waving the flag and demanded that the US flag be put away. Curtis grabbed the flag and turned away….giving Martel the opportunity to drive the pole the Quebec flag was attached to straight up between the legs of Duggan. Martel then used the pole to start to choke Duggan out, although he relented and gave the flag over to Curtis when he turned around. “Le Magnifique” then went to work on Duggan’s back kicking it while Duggan was down looking to weaken him for the Canadien Crab. Duggan did fight back, but each time he got a bit of momentum Martel would go after the back to take him down. Finally Duggan lifted Martel up and dropped him with a Scoop Slam, but then stumbled clutching his back. He backed up and went for his Old Glory knee drop but Martel moved out of the way and Duggan crashed to the mat. Richard rolled out of the ring and came back into the ring with a Slingshot Splash aimed at Duggan’s back. “Le Magnifique” then dragged him to the middle of the ring and locked in the Canadien Crab. Duggan tried to fight the hold but eventually he had no choice but to give up as his back was in too much pain. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Finish of the Match: Richard Martel made Jim Duggan submit with the Canadien Crab at 8:25</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> My Thoughts: This was actually a bit better than I was expecting, with Martel getting a lot of offense in as they try to establish his character in WCW. 69</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></blockquote><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>After the match Martel grabbed his flag….and buried the pole in the back of Duggan, standing triumphantly over him and adding insult to punishment. The match began very quickly as Orndorff kicked Regal in the gut and immediately dropped him with a Piledriver! Paul went for the very quick pin fall…but of course JPL also reacted quickly climbing up on the ring apron and distracting referee Mark Curtis. Mr Wonderful popped up and went over and punched Levesque, dropping him off of the ring apron. He turned around to go for the pin fall, but Sir William had reached in and pulled Regal out of the ring. Now Paul had to drop out of the ring and went after both of them, sending Sir William flying with a Clothesline. Mark Curtis dropped out of the ring and went and checked on Sir William, while Orndorff turned around and went back after Regal. Except William had managed to slip the brass knuckles to Regal, who had placed them on his hand and he dropped Orndorff with a shot from the. Picking Paul up Regal rolled Mr Wonderful back into the ring, slipped the brass knuckles into Orndorff’s tights, and went for the pin fall. Curtis rolled into the ring and went for the pin fall…ONE….TWO…..MR WONDERFUL KICKED OUT! Flustered, Lord Steven Regal grabbed Orndorff and dragged him to the middle of the ring flipped him over and attempted to lock on an STF. Mr Wonderful blocked the hold with his left arm, while driving his right elbow into the ribs of Regal. He then spun Regal over and came to his feet pulling Regal up with his left arm and dropped Regal with a Scoop Slam. He climbed to his feet and dropped down on Regal with a Forearm drop, before sliding out of the ring and dropping JPL with another Clothesline as he had started to climb to his feet again. This is how most of the match went with Paul Orndorff being fired up, and continually taking Regal by surprise. But each time it looked like he was going to win the match either JPL or William would interject, and Mr Wonderful would go after them. The end of the match saw Paul Orndorff drop Regal from the top turnbuckle with a Superplex, and then sliding out of the ring and grabbing Levesque and William by the head and smashing them together. He got back into the ring and walked right into an Exploder Suplex that allowed Regal to retain his Television Championship. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Finish of the Match: Steve Regal pinned Paul Orndorff at 13:24 after an Exploder Suplex</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> My Thoughts: A decent match that would have been better without the outside interference, but at least it gives a reason for a rematch as Paul Orndorff looked good out there but really needs some direction. 75</div></div></div></div></blockquote><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match 6: “Rampage” Ray Traylor vs. Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat</strong></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Body of the Match: Ricky Steamboat was making his way down to the ring when “Rampage” Ray Traylor jumped him from behind and threw him right into the ring pole. Steamboat went down as Traylor grabbed a steel chair that he smacked Steamboat over the head with. With Steamboat defenseless “Rampage” got in a few more shots with the steel chair before security and referee’s came running out trying to get between the two men. With everything going on with Traylor no one realized that Steamboat had crawled on his knee’s around the corner of the ring and rolled into the ring before climbing to the top turnbuckle and dropping off onto Traylor. “Rampage” managed to get the steel chair up between him and Steamboat but Ricky managed to drop the chair downwards and drove it right into the skull of “Rampage.” ‘The Dragon’ went on the offensive firing away with Chops and punches, but Traylor was not on the defensive for very long as he responded with an Uppercut of his own. Security was trying to pull them apart and the bell was ringing loudly as per wrestling tradition. Obviously the match was not going to start as the two men were unable to even make it to the ring. </div></div></div></div></blockquote><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match 7: WCW United States Heavyweight Championship: “Stunning” Steve Austin vs. Brian Pillman</strong></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Body of the Match: There was a different look in the eyes of Brian Pillman as he was staring across at the United States Champion in the ring. Austin made his worse by turning his back on Pillman to shout down at Larry Zbyszko who had accompanied Pillman to the ring for the match. Pillman took that opportunity to nail Austin from behind with a Dropkick and sending him into the ropes. Brian followed that up by choking Austin on the top rope which of course drew an immediate reaction from referee Mickey Jay. Jay got between the two men, which allowed Austin to turn around and he dropped Pillman with a series of punches, before going to work kicking away at Pillman. Brian managed to catch on one of the kicks, and then swept Austin’s legs from out of him. Both men came to their feet and Austin went to punch Pillman again, but Brian caught the fist and spun “Stunning” Steve around in a circle before dropping him with a Jawbreaker! Pillman aggressively went after Austin some more, perhaps too aggressively as the end result was Austin grabbing him by the trunks and tossing him through the second and third rope to the outside. “Stunning” Steve followed him out and on the outside he waited for Pillman to get up before punching him back down. The challenger was not down for very long though as he came back to his feet and started to throw Chops backing “Stunning” Steve back. A kick ended that and then Austin sent Pillman into the ring apron with an Irish Whip. Pillman bounced off of the ring apron and the US Champion sent him over with a Back Body Drop and Pillman landed on the ground in the aisle way. Austin retreated to the ring to allow the ten count to continue looking for an easy victory that way. Larry Zbyszko came over to encourage Pillman, perhaps even giving him a bit of a shove towards the ring to get him back in the ring. Austin was complaining about that as he started to kick Pillman, and then bent over to grab him….just for Pillman to drive his thumb into the eye of the Champion. He followed that up with a modified Stun Gun! ONE….TWO….AUSTIN KICKED OUT! Irritated by the kick out Pillman grabbed Austin by the writ and dragged him toward the middle of the ring before going to the top rope. It looked like Pillman was going to drop a Splash on Austin, but the Champion got a leg up and drove his foot into the face of Pillman instead. From there he started to go after Pillman’s leg looking to ground him; looking to set him up for a submission loss. Finally Austin picked Pillman up and sent him towards the corner, but Pillman jumped up to the second rope and then jumped backwards with a reverse elbow into the face of Austin and took him down. Both men were out, with Austin being the first one to his feet and he climbed to the top turnbuckle….but Pillman managed to get up first and dropped him on the turnbuckle. Flyin’ Brian climbed up with Austin and tried to go for a Superplex….but Austin blocked that and dropped Pillman face first to the mat. Austin straightened up and jumped from the top turnbuckle, but Pillman intercepted him with a Dropkick. The damage was worse for Pillman though as he could not get back to his feet and that allowed Austin to lock in That’s a Wrap on Brian. Outside Larry was urging Pillman on, cheering until Brian got his hand on the bottom rope forcing the break. As he sat up Austin gestured that it was over, before pulling Pillman to his feet and looking for a Piledriver…but Pillman reversed it into a Hurricanrana and both men were again out. As they both came to their feet Austin went for the Stun Gun, but Pillman blocked and ran off of the ropes and dropped Austin with a Tornado DDT! He went outside and he waited for Austin to stand up before hitting the Air Pillman…..for two! Pillman couldn’t believe it, and it was like something snapped, because he dropped out of the ring and went and grabbed a steel chair sliding into the ring with it. Pillman raised the chair above his head, ready to bring it crashing down on Austin’s face….when Larry climbed up on the ring apron and reached in to grab the chair out of his hand. The two men started arguing with each other, with Larry saying he was going to use the match if he did that. This distraction allowed Austin to stand up and pushed Pillman right into the steel chair in the hands of Larry. Pillman fell backwards and Austin picked him up and dropped him across the top rope with the Stun Gun….ONE….TWO…THREE!! </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Finish of the Match: Steve Austin pinned Brian Pillman at 17:50 after a Stun Gun</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> My Thoughts: For as good as these two were as a team, it just does not seem to translate into chemistry as opponents as their matches are just not blow away. 74</div></div></div></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> After the match “Stunning” Steve Austin slipped out of the ring and grabbed the United States Championship belt and made his way to the back leaving an angry Brian Pillman in the ring. Larry Zbyszko climbed into the ring and was arguing with Pillman while holding the chair in his hand smacking it emphatically. Finally Larry went to walk away…and Pillman grabbed the steel chair and pulled it out of Larry’s hands. Larry stopped and was looking at Pillman…who teased smacking him with the chair. But then threw it to the mat instead. The “Living Legend” turned his back on Pillman….and Pillman punched him in the back of the head and threw Larry into the corner. Brian picked up the steel chair and nailed Larry with it across the head. Larry dropped to the ground and Pillman smacked him repeatedly with the steel chair, before driving it into Larry’s throat and standing over him yelling at him. Pillman finally stood up and threw the chair to the side before walking to the back. </p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match 8: Road to Starrcade Match: WCW International World Heavyweight Championship: Sting© vs. Vader </strong></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Body of the Match: Of course Vader was accompanied by his manager Harley Race, and as Sting made his way out he stopped to announce he would be accompanied to the ring by…..”THE AMERICAN DREAM” DUSTY RHODES!! Another match in one of the best rivalries in the history of WCW began tentatively with Sting and Vader pacing around the ring, Sting threatening to beat up Harley Race if he interfered in this important match, and Dusty Rhodes was right there ready to do the same thing if need be. Finally the two men came face to face, but Vader walked away and Sting went over and once again yelled down at Harley Race, before flexing his muscles which drew cheers from the fans. Vader went to do the same thing and was greeted with a chorus of boo’s. When the two men did eventually lock up Vader over powered Sting and forced him into the ropes, before breaking the hold and mocking Sting with more flexing. Slowly the two men locked up and this time it was Sting who won the power battle actually shoving Vader to the mat before flexing over top of him. It was clear that Vader was none too pleased about either of those events before climbing to his feet and challenging Sting to another test of strength. This time Vader forced Sting all the way back into the corner and then clubbed Sting across the head with his fist a couple of times before backing up. With a burst of energy Sting ran out of the corner and took Vader down with an almost spear before punching away at Vader’s head while he was down on the mat. When punching wasn’t enough Sting started to kick away at Vader before pulling him to his feet and sending him into the corner with an Irish Whip…setting up a Stinger Splash!! Sting backed up and took Vader down with a series of Clotheslines before pushing him back into the corner and letting lose with a series of blows until Vader went down again and this time Sting stopped to let out his trademark howl for the fans delight. Angry Vader ripped his mask off before climbing to his feet and him and Sting started trading punches back and forth. Vader sent Sting off of the rope and went for a Clothesline but Sting ducked, and then ducked another but finally Vader dropped him with an Avalanche. Vader pulled Sting to his feet carried him across the ring and Slammed him to the ground before climbing up on the turnbuckle ready to drop the Pumphandle Splash on Sting….but Sting managed to get to his feet and kicked Vader’s leg before climbing under him and walking backwards and dropping down with an Electric Chair Drop! He then climbed to the top turnbuckle and jumped off with a Splash right on the downed Vader! ONE…TWO…VADER KICKED OUT! Sting waited for Vader to climb to his feet and then sent him over the ropes with a Clothesline. Outside the ring a dizzy Vader fell backwards onto his back, and Sting dropped down and went after him with punches of fury and once again dropped Vader while Dusty Rhodes made sure to keep Harley Race at bay. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Rolling Vader into the ring Sting followed and then dropped his Elbow on Vader before going for a pin but Vader kicked out at one. Picking Vader up….Sting placed him on the top turnbuckle….followed up and grabbed him by the head….looked to the fans…and then dropped backwards pulling Vader off the top and dropping him head first with a DDT!! ONE….TWO….VADER KICKED OUT!! Sting couldn’t believe it, and then ran off of the ropes and went for a splash….but Vader go this knee’s up and Sting landed on them!! Now it was Vader who dropped an Elbow on Sting, before climbing the ropes and connecting this time with the Pumphandle Splash…..for two! One was not enough for Vader as he kicked Sting in the ribs, before going for another Pumphandle Splash….one….two…thre…Sting got his shoulder up! Harley Race started yelling at referee Randy Anderson from outside while Vader climbed up on the ropes facing Sting this time and jumped off looking for a Splash….but Sting caught him in midair and turned it into a Slam instead! Slowly both men came to their feet but it was Vader who attacked first raining forearm’s down on Sting until Sting could no longer stand, and then following that up with a Short Arm Clothesline, and a Running Splash for another two count. Vader locked in a Chinlock on Sting and tried to choke the life out of him, although the cheering fans had other plans for that as they tried to cheer Sting to his feet. Finally Vader pulled him up and pushed him back into the corner, wound up and clubbed Sting across the chest three straight times. Finally Sting started to fight back and Vader kept raining blows down on his chest, but Sting was all fired up and he came back with hard Chops of his own, and then a Dropkick on Vader! Vader stood up and Sting went behind him and sent Vader flying with a Release German Suplex!! Slowly Sting crawled over and went for the pin fall….but Vader kicked out at two. As both men came to their feet Sting started running off of the ropes, bouncing off of Vader until finally Vader went down. Sting backed up for one more….and Race reached in and grabbed his foot and tripped him up! As Dusty Rhodes came running around the corner to go after Race, Vader came over and dropped another Elbow on the back of Sting’s head, before rolling him over and going for a pin fall and this time Sting had to resort to putting his foot on the bottom rope to break up the count. </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Vader pulled Sting to the middle of the ring and then climbed on to the ropes…but this time he wasn’t going for the Pumphandle Splash, he climbed one more turnbuckle and went for the Vadersault…..but Sting rolled out of the way and Vader landed on the mat. Outside the ring Sting was resting on the ring apron, but as soon as Harley Race walked around the corner Sting reacted with a kick to his gut, and then slid back in the ring and dropped Vader with a One-handed Bulldog! With Vader face down on the mat Sting attempted to lock in a Scorpion Deathlock….but Vader was able to pull himself over and got one arm wrapped around the bottom rope to break up the count. Both men were starting to feel worn out and it was looking like it had to end soon as Sting went to the top turnbuckle and waited for Vader to climb up, before going for a Sunset Flip from the top…..but Vader didn’t go down….instead looking to drop straight down on Sting’s chest…but Sting rolled out of the way and Vader crashed to the mat. As both men came to their feet they started throwing punches at each other, but they both were throwing weakened blows due to their exhaustion. Sting tried to pick Vader up for a Body Slam….but Sting collapsed backwards and Vader fell on him and got a two count out of that. As both men stood up Vader pulled Sting in and lifted him up on his shoulder for a Powerbomb….but Sting slipped out of his grasp and landed on his feet behind Vader and took him down for a Backslide but again that was another two count. As they came to their feet Sting pulled Vader in close and lifted him up off of his feet and spun him around before dropping forward with a Tombstone Piledriver!! ONE…..TWO….VADER KICKED OUT!! Sting reversed himself into the corner in complete shock, his face paint all sweated off and his hair drenched in sweat. On the mat Vader was not climbing up, just twitching and Sting sensed his opportunity as he went to the top turnbuckle and waited for Vader to climb up. When Vader finally reached his feet Sting came off with a Diving Clothesline and went for the pin fall……but again it was only a two count! At the announcers table Bobby and Tony were losing their mind, the fans were losing their minds, Harley Race never looked so crazed, Dusty had his eyes covered in disbelief, no one could believe what was happening. Barely able to move Sting climbed to the top turnbuckle and was waiting for Vader to climb up….before flying through the air with a Diving Crossbody….ONE…..TWO…..THREE IT WAS OVER!! The Unification Match was set for Starrcade and what a match it would be…..Ric Flair vs. Sting!! </div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Finish of the Match: Sting defeated Vader at 22:41</div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> My Thoughts: If it wasn’t for some of the early stalling this would have probably ended up best match of the year for WCW, but as it was this wasn’t even the best match of the evening as I have to give that nod to the Steiner Brother/MVC match from earlier in the evening. With that said, this was still an amazing match and one of the best matches in the series between Sting and Vader. 94</div></div></div></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Final Thoughts: I have a feeling that Starrcade may not be able to top this one. There is a chance that Sting/Flair from Starrcade may end up being a better match then the two great matches we saw this evening….but wow has the bar been set high after this show. The Road to Starrcade has definitely taken off and now we can get to the act of unifying the belts into one World Championship finally and end this eventful year for WCW. 92</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42414" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Pick 'Em Contest: <p> </p><p> The Final Countdown: 5</p><p> Beejus: 4</p><p> </p><p> Overall Standings:</p><p> </p><p> Beejus: 11</p><p> The Final Countdown: 5</p><p> 2Sweet: 5</p></div></blockquote>

I've read through your entire diary and this is why I loved WCW during that time. I feel like you should never bring in Hogan. My favorite signings have been Valentine and Bob Orton Jr. I feel that they have a lot left in the tank and in WCW with this style they can succeed. The best storylines in the main event scene and you put them all together and it's cohesive. It shows you plan and you probably have ideas and matches booked months in advance in my mind. If I had to pick one though it's Lord Steven Regal and JPL. WCW should have went this route with these two. I think both guys are great and main event caliber in the future. They can work with anybody. The stuff with Larry and Duggan was great. I look forward to maybe seeing them get to work with guys like Santana, Steamboat, Sting, and Dustin. You are just putting guys that can work, your job guys are great past stars or good fundamental stars. I love this time period with the direction. I can't wait to see what stars you build out of this and how you are doing against WWF during this time period tv ratings and just show ratings in general.

This was a good back and forth affair with Mr Wonderful bringing a lot of aggression and The Great Muta wowing the fans with his usual display of aerial offense. At one point The Great Muta hit his Moonsault on JPL and went for the pin fall, but Regal came into the match and kicked Muta in the head breaking up the pin fall. That was the beginning of a match that was mostly a chess match as Roberts used his psychology to try and win the United States Championship. It almost worked too as Austin was getting very impatient, but eventually he did manage to recover and take over the match. But he went too far with kicking Roberts in the corner and the referee had to intervene which gave Jake the opportunity to catch his breath and when Austin went for an Irish Whip out of the corner Jake Roberts managed to reverse it into a Short Clothesline. A few years ago you and I we went toe to toe in an “I Quit” match and I will admit it, you made me say those awful words, but when I looked in Cactus’ eyes I could see there was NO WAY he was going to say them. He was willing to let you break his leg, to possibly end his career, but he was not going to give you the pleasure of seeing him submit no matter what. I can't wait to see what stars you build out of this and how you are doing against WWF during this time period tv ratings and just show ratings in general.</div></blockquote><p> </p><p> Really glad that you are enjoying it.....and yes I certainly do plot things out way in advance, sometimes even years in advance although it can get fun when unexpected things happen. Jake is a good pick up for you, hopefully he stays sober long enough to be effective.</p>

TIDBITS EDITION!!!

In the biggest news in sometime it has become official and Monday Night Raw will no longer be on the USA Network as it has shifted to VH1 as part of a plan to gain bigger ratings then they were already getting on the USA Network. Word is that this shift was only possible because of Hulk Hogan signing with WWF and getting them some mainstream publicity at just the right time....

...for those that are wondering about the sudden appearance of Jake Roberts on Saturday Night, no he has not signed a contract with WCW as he is still under a contract with AAA. This was merely a part of the exchange program between the two companies as part of the When World's Collide PPV. With that said everyone was very impressed with how he behaved backstage and especially in the match against "Stunning" Steve Austin and there is no doubt that he will probably get a second look when his contract comes up for renewal.

...word is that Eric Bischoff has been working on something major and that is why he has not had a big impact backstage the last few months and that whatever it is will be announced very early into the new year.

...speaking of the new year rumour has it that WCW's big Mexican acquisition will be making his debut early in the new year as they attempt to spread their appeal across North America. And it looks like he will not be the only new face as....

...one face that will not be changing signs is that of head WWF referee Earl Hebner. I have been told that WCW tried to steal him away and actually offered a more lucrative contract but Hebner turned them down to re-sign with WWF out of loyalty. Obviously with some of the backstage drama that Nick Patrick has caused someone in the company was trying to find a replacement for him...

Is Funk a face this time now? It's hard to tell sometimes :p

Jake is a good pick up for you, hopefully he stays sober long enough to be effective.

When it comes to Jake look above....as for Funk well it shall all become clear at the next show......or will it??? :p

The Funk storyline is one of the most interesting things going on in any dynasty thread right now. He feels like a real, three-dimensional person.

Thank you for the very kind words I am glad that it is connecting I am definitely having fun with the story and honestly it wasn't even my plan for this to go on quite like it has but as it started to take off the idea just sort of grew into something with a mind of its own.
