Simmons spent most of the rest of the match throwing Flynn around before finishing the match off with not one…but TWO Dominator’s.

Finish of the Match: Ron Simmons pinned Jerry Flynn at 7:42 with a Dominator

My Thoughts: Another decent outing for Jerry Flynn, I don’t think I would have expected that at all. I’m starting to understand how he managed to get a job in the company because he was a much more decent wrestler then I realized. 75

A video crew had been sent to visit Cactus Jack at home to ask him about his feelings from the events of the past few weeks. It was clear that Cactus was not at 100%, but also clear that he was still pretty upset with Ric Flair and promised that at some point their paths would cross again. As for Terry Funk all he could say was “Sting you had better watch your back, because I trusted him once and it cost me a World Championship.”

Match 2: Stars ‘n’ Stripes vs. The Ripped Pittbulls
Body of the Match: The announcers had been talking about this new team called “The Ripped Pittbulls” prior to the commercial and with Bagwell and The Patriot standing in the right it was Sgt Craig Pittman who made his way out first….and then right behind him in army fatigue’s with camouflage makeup on and doing jumping jacks was….Rip Rogers. While the two had shown a decent amount of chemistry last week as a team this was a bit unexpected nonetheless. With that said they worked better as a team this week and actually controlled much of the match….surprisingly with The Patriot playing the “Ricky Morton” role and not Bagwell. This resulted in The Patriot debuting a new comeback spot when he lifted Rogers up on his shoulders, spun around a couple of times before dropping with a Electric Chair Drop and then jumping up and making a tag to Bagwell. The end would also see The Patriot figuring into the pin fall with a Patriot Missile Dropkick to get the pin fall on Rip Rogers.

Finish of the Match: Stars ‘n’ Stripes won the match when The Patriot pinned Rip Rogers at 7:42 after a Patriot Missile

My Thoughts: A decent debut for The Ripped Pittbulls and a big victory for Stars ‘n’ Stripes as they continue the path to the big showdown at Starrcade. 62

Gene Okerlund was out to interview Stars ‘n’ Stripes, specifically Marcus Alexander Bagwell about his singles match at Starrcade against Bob Orton Jr and Bagwell once again reiterated that he is going to end his feud against Orton Jr. “Cowboy when this all began I respected you, I grew up watching you on television and thought you were one of the best, but all you have taught me is that respect was misplaced because you have respect for no one, and I’m sorry but that includes you too Greg Valentine.”

Match 3: Frank Andersson vs. “Le Magnifique” Richard Martel
Body of the Match: Tito Santana took his turn on commentary this week to respond to Martel’s words for last week and Tito promised that his “old partner” had not heard the last of him. In the match itself Andersson managed to get some close pin falls with his amateur skills, but in the end he fell victim to the Canadien Crab same as all of Martel’s other opponents thus far.

Finish of the Match: "Le Magnifique" Rick Martel defeated Frank Andersson in 7:46 by submission with a Canadien Crab

My Thoughts: Not much to say about this one, Martel gets another victory and the feud between him and Tito continues to develop slowly. 67

Jesse Ventura was in the middle of the ring for the VR Report and stood with his clients, the Can-Am Express. Ventura made sure to mention that his team would defeat the up start Speed Warriors would then challenge for the WCW United States Tag Team Championship at Starrcade before turning to introducing his guest “the man that some say cost Vader the WCW International World Heavyweight Championship and the Main Event of Starrcade…..Dusty Rhodes!”

Dusty Rhodes made his way out and climbed into the ring while the fans cheered him on loudly as he grabbed his own microphone:

“Now listen here, anyone who was watching that match saw that I did not have anything to do with the outcome of that match. I was out there just to make sure that the match was equal if you will…..Vader had Harley Race, and I was there to make sure that he didn’t cost Sting that match. You see my son, my baby boy, he’s sitting at home right now and the doctor’s they don’t even know if he will ever wrestle again and Vader is out there getting a shot at the World title but the only way he was going to win it was over my dead body. You know I may not always have been the best daddy, I was travellin’ these roads trying to make a name for myself, living my dream and sending every penny I could back home but there is no way I am going to let a man like Vader do what he did and get away with it. He is nuthin’ but a bully and I am going to make sure that he gets what he has comin’ to him.”

With that the fans started to boo as Vader was making his way down the aisle way with Harley Race right behind him, and the two men climbed into the ring and Harley Race grabbed the microphone and asked Dusty if he was seriously challenging Vader to a match:

“Oh no, at my age in my shape, Vader would squash me flatta than a pancake……I’m challenging Vader for a brawl, I’m challenging him to my specialty, I’m challenging him to a Bunkhouse Brawl. And I realize that you (directed at Vader) may still break me, you might make sure that I’m left in a bed next to my son, but I promise you one thing….I’m goin’ to get my pounda flesh first!”

Vader’s reaction was to take one step towards Dusty trying to intimidate him, and when that didn’t work he punched Dusty in the face and dropped him to the mat. Quickly Phil LaFon, Doug Furnas and Jesse Ventura got between the two men as Dusty came to his feet with his fists cocked and ready to start the fight right now but Harley dragged Vader out of the ring as he was yelling “it’s on!”

Match 4: WCW World Tag Team Championship: The Steiner Brothers© vs. Shanghai Pierce/Tex Slazenger
Body of the Match: While this match was going on Tony and Bobby talked about how next week would be a major announcement about an International team, one of the best in the world that would be challenging the winner of tonight’s match for the World Tag Team Championship at Starrcade. Inside the ring it looked like the Steiner’s were already pretty excited about the thought of that match because they seemed pretty determined to win this match and get to Starrcade. In fairness though Shanghai and Tex actually put up a real fight in this one and even managed to take Rick down with a Double Reverse DDT but it wasn’t enough to get the victory. Finally Rick Steiner took Shanghai down with a Belly to Belly Suplex leaving Scott to take Tex off of the top turnbuckle with a Frankensteiner to pick up the victory and get to Starrcade!

Finish of the Match: Scott Steiner pinned Tex Slazenger after a top rope Frankensteiner(!) at 13:29

My Thoughts: Once again the Steiner’s put on a great show with Rick Steiner’s effort especially shining again, and now we head towards the big international match at Starrcade that should be pretty interesting. 82

After the match Gene Okerlund tried to get an interview with Brian Pillman about his actions against Larry Zbyszko and why he attacked him to which Pillman had a mini freak out:

“Why did I attack him? Why did I attack him? Did you not see the match Gene? He cost me the United States Championship!! He said he was going to have my back and then he went and cost me the match. He got what he deserved and if wants to get in my face again I will do the same thing again!”

Match 5: Bunkhouse Buck vs. The Belfast Bruiser
Body of the Match: Bunkhouse Buck tried to come out aggressive against The Belfast Bruiser, but instead fell victim to a European Uppercut. The match went back and forth but when Buck tried to lift Bruiser up for a Slam, The Belfast Bruiser instead reversed it into a Fujiwara Armbar right in the middle of the ring which led to the big submission victory for him!

Finish of the Match: The Belfast Bruiser defeated Bunkhouse Buck with a Fujiwara Armbar at 7:34

My Thoughts: Perhaps not the best match, but The Belfast Bruiser continues to bring a unique style to the show that I appreciate and hopefully this is the beginning of seeing him more often, even if it’s only to be a jobber to the stars. 56

Once more a black and white video played of a boxer in the ring, but then the words “Next week…” played and then it showed the boxer standing…and there was a bright light and it went from black and white to color and showed a man in a red boxing robe and his head bowed “The Marvelous One….returns.”

Match 6: WCW World Television Championship: Lord Steven Regal © vs. “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff
Body of the Match: “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff made his way out first, but did not go to the ring and instead hid in with the fans waiting for Lord Steven Regal and his entourage to make their way down to the ring. As they passed him by Orndorff jumped out of the crowd and knocked Regal down from behind. He then grabbed Jean-Paul Levesque and Sir William and bashed their heads together disorienting him. Orndorff threw Sir William into the guard rail and then kicked JPL in the gut and dropped him with a Piledriver on the floor!! Finally Orndorff went after Regal and threw him into the ring before climbing in behind him and the bell rang to star the match. Immediately Paul went for a Piledriver but Regal managed to crawl backwards out of that hold and went to the outside. Aggressively Mr Wonderful went after him getting shot’s in one after another as they circled around the ring. Finally Orndorff threw him back into the ring and climbed in and went for another Piledriver, but Regal fought against it and one of his flailing legs caught Randy Anderson when he came too close and that allowed a distraction for Regal to get a Low Blow in on Orndorff to turn things around. Regal controlled until he attempted an Exploder Suplex that Orndorff reversed into a Small Package for a closer two count. As they climbed to their feet Mr Wonderful fired off a Clothesline that allowed him to take over again. The issue was that Orndorff seemed too focused on going for the Piledriver, and Regal had that scouted and had all sorts of counters prepared for that including reversing into an STF at one point. Finally Mr Wonderful DID connect with the Piledriver though, but instead of going for the pin fall he played to the fans and pulled Regal to his feet and set him up for another one. Paul spun around, spinning Regal for all the fans to see before going for the Piledriver….but Regal reversed out of it and hit the Exploder Suplex for the ONE….TWO….THREE!!

Finish of the Match: Lord Steven Regal pinned Paul Orndorff at 17:49 with an Exploder Suplex

My Thoughts: A good Main Event, although not the blow away one that we had been used to seeing lately. With that said with a second loss to Regal over that Television Championship it is hard to see where things for Orndorff now. 77

Nick Bockwinkel was out to get the contract signed for the Main Event of Starrcade and welcomed both Ric Flair and Sting to the match, but when Arn Anderson accompanied Flair to the ring Bockwinkel told him to get out of the ring to which Anderson and Flair protested but Bockwinkel was having none of that. After getting both men to sign the contract to make the match official Bockwinkel let the fans know that there WOULD be a winner at Starrcade, there would be ONE Champion and there would be no incident like Clash of the Champions and to make sure that Bockwinkel had a little plan to make sure that there would be a winner, at Starrcade there would be a referee inside the ring….but the Commissioner had a plan for outside the ring….a special Enforcer. Before Bockwinkel could go on any further Ric Flair took the microphone away from him and started to goad Sting, pointing out that he had accomplished more than Sting ever would and that at Starrcade Sting would be merely a footnote. Sting started to get fired up….but he noticed Anderson sliding into the ring from behind him and he quickly turned to go after him, but Flair attacked from behind and it was a two on one…..until Terry Funk came running out….with a BRANDING IRON!! He chased both Flair and Anderson out of the ring, and then stood over Sting much the same way that Sting had stood over him last week on Saturday Night at the show went off the air.

Overall Rating: Just like the Main Event this was a good show, but not as great as we have been used to seeing, although again that might just be due to us getting spoiled lately. Lots going on still though and the Terry Funk drama continues with Jack warning Sting not to trust him, but at the end of the show it was Terry Funk who was the cavalry. 82

WCW Main Event 11-27-1994

Eric Bischoff and Rick Rude began the show talking about the contract signing from Saturday Night and Rick Rude warned Terry Funk to watch his back if he was going to be interacting with Sting (85)

Josef Maximoff defeated Jerry Flynn in 8:09 by submission with The Russian Cloverleaf (57)

Boni Blackstoned interviewed Jesse Ventura, the Can-Am Express and the Stable Stallions before their main event eight man tag preview of the Semi Finals of the WCW US Tag Team tournament and Ventura did most of the talking promising that his team would get the victory and the Can-Am Express would continue their undefeated streak! The match went back and forth until the Nasty Boys made their way down and went after the “Doctor of Love.” That distraction allowed for The Belfast Bruiser to catch Jimmy Gorgeous with a Bridging German Suplex and get a three count defeating a second member of the Stud Stable.

Finish of the Match: The Belfast Bruiser pinned Jimmy Gorgeous at 7:46 with a Bridging German Suplex

My Thoughts: This was not a very good match this week as Gorgeous is better as a tag team then in a singles match. 56

The brawl continued with Jimmy Gorgeous dropping out of the ring and going after Knobbs and Sags and the four men battled all the way to the back and out of the arena with the camera trying to follow the action as best as they could.

Match 2: Bad Attitude (Bobby Eaton/”Playboy” Buddy Rose) vs. The Armstrong Brothers
Body of the Match: This time Bobby Eaton and Buddy Rose represented Bad Attitude as Tony and Bobby talked about how Eaton had to be getting frustrated with his team losing over and over again. Of course the Armstrong’s had not had much lucky lately either. With that said both men were very desperate this week doing everything they could to win, and indeed it was the Armstrong’s who managed to give that extra bit of something and Brad managed to get the victory when he pinned Buddy Rose. After the match Bobby Eaton was looking at his partner with a hint of anger on his face.

Finish of the Match: The Armstrong Brothers defeated Bobby Eaton and Buddy Rose in 8:30 when Brad Armstrong defeated Buddy Rose by pinfall with a Russian Leg Sweep

My Thoughts: Dissention in the ranks for Bad Attitude? Fortunately Pillman finally ended the match with a Tornado DDT allowing Taylor to survive another day.

Finish of the Match: Brian Pillman pinned Terry Taylor at 7:52 following a Tornado DDT

My Thoughts: This really was a different looking Pillman, almost like he was a little unhinged and it made for a rather enjoyable encounter. 72

Gene Okerlund interviewed “Stunning” Steve Austin who had the WCW US Championship with him and said that it was what Cactus Jack should be concentrating on: “It’s time you stop focusing on what’s behind you son, and start focusing on your future!”

Match 4: Jean-Paul Levesque vs. Scott Stud
Body of the Match: With both Lord Steven Regal and Sir William yelling encouragement JPL systematically worked Scott Stud over before finishing him off with a Pedigree and then pompously over celebrating the victory.

Finish of the Match: Jean-Paul Levesque defeated Scott Stud in 7:39 by pin fall with a Pedigree

My Thoughts: Levesque actually looked like he took a step back this week compared to some of his recent efforts, although that may have had something to do with his opponent. 61

Lord Steven Regal was leading his charge towards the back when he was stopped by Tony Schiavone to show him a pre-taped video segment. Mr Wonderful was on the way to the back and heard this and stopped to say if Simmons wanted an opponent so bad, then he was ready to step up and face him. Long and Simmons laughed that off pointing out that Orndorff couldn’t beat Regal and almost got pinned by Union Jack what was he going to do against a REAL opponent like Simmons. During this match itself Steamboat controlled most of the match, but “Rampage” Ray Traylor did make his way down possibly hoping to distract Steamboat and it almost worked with Maximoff rolling Steamboat up for a two count. While the match was over that didn’t stop Flair from trying to make sure that Sting would be in no shape to compete at Starrcade by going after him with the iron. Funk tried to get back into the ring but his knee was still in rough shape and he couldn’t do much, especially with Arn stopping him. The fans suddenly came to their feet as Cactus Jack came running down to the ring and went after Flair making the save and stealing the branding iron away from him. Flair and Anderson quickly left the ring, leaving Cactus with Sting and Terry Funk. Jack helped Sting to his feet, looked at Terry Funk, before dropping out of the ring and making his way to the back. Cactus did not take his eye’s off of Funk….which meant that Jack did not see “Stunning” Steve Austin come running down from behind, he grabbed Jack and threw him face first into the ring pole and dropped him to the ground before quickly retreating and the show ended with Austin getting one final line in: “Guess you should have been watching your back after all.”

Overall Rating: That was a really good ending to the show although again this was a bit of a step back quality wise, but things continue to build towards Starrcade and it appears they are trying to save some 'bang' for the show itself. 82

WCW Main Event 12-04-1994

Eric Bischoff and Rick Rude went over the final few minutes of Saturday Night, including the attack from “Stunning” Steve Austin on his opponent for WCW Starrcade (75)

Toshiaki Kawada defeated Jim Duggan in 7:37 by pin fall with a Folding Powerbomb (70)

A Control Center with Gene Okerlund updated everyone on the Starrcade with only two weeks to go! My best moments can easily be traced to my battles with the “Nature Boy, Woooooooo” just look at the first Clash of Champions or the night I won my first World Title at the Great American Bash and at Starrcade it will be another showdown for the ages, an epic confrontation of biblical proportions, maybe this really is the end of days for us, and if that is going to be the way it is then Flair, just know....your days are numbered!"

Match 3: “Le Magnifique” Richard Martel/”Rampage” Ray Traylor/Ron Simmons vs. “Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff/Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat/Tito Santana
Body of the Match: Before the match even began referee Randy Anderson reminded Ricky Steamboat and Ray Traylor of the rules, saying that that they were allowed to be in this match but they had better keep it in the ring and not cause any damage outside of the ring. The match itself mostly featured the different pairings from Starrcade facing off against each other, although the end would see some confusion as Martel tagged in, but Simmons didn’t realize that and he dropped Mr Wonderful with a Spinning Powerslam, but then the referee wouldn’t count the pin fall. That allowed “Le Magnifique” Martel to lock on the Canadien Crab in the middle of the ring and after a struggle Paul did submit giving the victory to Martel’s team. Vader had reawakened a side of the American Dream, and just listening to Dusty made me realize that Vader may actually be in serious trouble at Starrcade. You see, I’m not spring chicken Jesse and everyone know’s that. I’ve already retired a half dozen times already, so I know I’m getting old. And I’m starting to think about my father, and my brother and the mark they have left on this industry and I start to think about myself. I’ve already been World Champion, what is left for me now? There’s this little company based out of Philadelphia, and there I’ve established myself as some sort of Hardcore icon, a legend of a wrestling style that you don’t see everywhere, but people know is a form of wrestling that is all heart. But how much more can my heart take? The truth is I don’t know, and so I want to make sure that someone is ready, that I can pass my torch to someone else so that they can carry on when this old body is too broken down to fight any longer. And I’ve figured out exactly who that man is, and his name is Cactus Jack. Now I’ll admit I did not think he was ready for it yet, and that is why I was more than willing to work against him with Flair and Anderson, but that kid, he proved something to me, he proved something to all of these fan’s…and the thing he proved is his time is not in a few years from now, he is ready now. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not giving up my throne to the Crown Prince of Pain yet, but I can now see clearly where the future lies and it’s not with men like Flair and Anderson that’s for sure. Their time in the sun is done and it’s time for them to ride off with the sunset, but I think it’s clear they are going to need some encouragement and that’s where I come in. Flair you filthy dog I am coming for you, and if you still have that World Championship belt after Starrcade I am going to take it from you. But first I’m going to get rid of that pit-bull who is always by your side, so Arn Anderson I am calling you out, we’re going to settle the score at Starrcade if you are willing to step out of your bosses’ shadow long enough that is!”

Match 6: Cactus Jack vs. Union Jack
Body of the Match: Cactus Jack actually crossed paths with Terry Funk on the way to the ring, and the two men paused to look at each other in the eyes….before Cactus walked on to the ring to wait for Union Jack. In the “battle of Jack’s,” Cactus was really aggressive and Union Jack had to resort to sliding out of the ring numerous times but it wasn’t enough to stop Cactus Jack who finished the match with a Double Arm DDT and picked up the three count.

Finish of the Match: Cactus Jack pinned Union Jack at 8:13 with a Double Arm DDT

My Thoughts: This was a good refresher for Cactus Jack as they try to shift his focus from Ric Flair and the World Heavyweight Championship to Steve Austin and the United States Championship. 78

Mike Tenay stood by with Bob Orton Jr and Greg Valentine…..with Orton Jr wearing a cast on the arm he had been protecting last week.
I can't believe some coward attacked Bob Orton's bad arm! Sting - The Stinger is your best man to lead the world in lieu of Hogan.

Cactus Jack - Jack is ready to hold some gold, the US title will be a great pickup for him.

Steiners - Should be a very hard hitting match. And yeah TFC, great name! :p

Marc Mero - He needs to win the match, but maybe Regal escapes with the belt via DQ?

Can-Am - I've picked a lot of faces to go over so far, so it'll be good to pick a heel to grab a title.

Arn Anderson - I think if Arn wins and Flair doesn't, it'll perhaps start to drive a wedge between the friends that could culminate in a big feud for them in 1995.

Ray Traylor - Steamboat makes a perfect gatekeeper for the big heels to go over en route to a title match.

Vader - Like TFC said, Vader is lost if he loses this.

Ron Simmons - All about building up a strong heel to face Sting down the line.

Brian Pillman - This cannon is loose!

Richard Martel - Man, by 1995 on his same "Arriba!" gimmick, Tito may be close to getting X-Pac Heat.

Marcus Bagwell - This feud has been Bagwell's to win all this time.

MOTN: Sting vs. Flair

Enforcer: Lex Luger

Mexican Star: Konnan

Judging by what I've read so far, your heel side of the main event is stronger than the face side.....so strap the title on the Stinger and let him run through them....

WCW United States Heavyweight Championship: “Stunning” Steve Austin© vs. Cactus Jack

.....at least until this man is ready to take the top prize....Austin has been a stand out in what I've read so far....maybe the next time two Champions clash it should be Sting and Austin

WCW World Tag Team Championship: The Steiner Brothers © vs. The Hell Raisers (Hawk Warrior/Power Warrior)

The Power Warriors ain't no Road Warriors

WCW World Television Championship: Lord Steven Regal© vs. “Marvelous” Marc Mero

WCW United States Tag Team Championship Tournament Final: Can-Am Express vs. Harlem Heat

I'm probably way off here with HH being the bigger team....but maybe, just maybe....we'll see the WCW Can-Am Tag Team Titles.

Arn Anderson vs. Terry Funk

“Rampage” Ray Traylor vs. Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat

Bunkhouse Brawl: Dusty Rhodes vs. Vader

There's no way that Vader should be losing this....not unless you want him as uncredible as WCW actually made him by the end of his run.

“Mr Wonderful” Paul Orndorff vs. Ron Simmons

Barefisted Brawl: Brian Pillman vs. Larry Zbyszko

“Le Magnifique” Richard Martel vs. Tito Santana

Meh, I wasn't much for this feud when it originally happened lol

“Cowboy” Bob Orton Jr vs. Marcus Alexander Bagwell

Surely

What will be the best match of the evening? Flair/Sting

Questions just for fun, not for points:

Who will be "enforcer" in the unification match between Ric Flair and Sting?

Rampage Ray?

Who is the Mexican superstar who will be joining WCW in 1995?

Konnan

Good day everyone......it is with a mixture of strong feelings of disappointment and appreciation I am writing this post. I am incredibly appreciative of all the kind words, both in here and in the DOTM nominations and just to have so many predictors. But I am also incredibly sad to have to announce that my old computer died and with it I have lost both my save and everything I had already managed to write (the final Saturday Night/half of Starrcade). As previously mentioned I book years in advance and I was just at the point where everything I had been excited about for years was about to happen....and now it's gone and that's a real kick to the gut. Now.....with that said, I am planning on trying to get my hard driver recovered (I lost a few important things that I want back) but it will probably be a few months to a year out, and of course there is no guarantee that I will get everything back. One thing that is guaranteed is I will return to this point one way or the other, but it will not be until I attempt to recover. So for now I am going to pause this Dynasty, and in the mean time I am going to look around at some of the Mod's, and hopefully something comes up soon that I can dive back into in order to give me something to have fun with until I come back to this time period. I'm sorry for leaving things like this, and let this be an important reminder to everyone....always back up everything!
