The Freebirds going against DeBiase, Sullivan and a string of others. Tommy Rich beating Harley Race for the World Title at a show I attended in Augusta. Ole Anderson, being Ole, good times.

If this is mod built using the 1970 mod as a base, I assume it will implement the working relationships between companies?

Because otherwise, with so many companies starting above cult, you're leaving others vulnerable to poaching. That's not gonna be very 1980.

I have used it to help fill in certain areas i.e.workers, a few companies, but mainly TGA is the base and has always been. Though it's been radically changed by me and TsuMirren to make it fit in 1980. There three National companies AJPW, NJPW, AJW. Two Cult companies UWA and EMLL. The rest are Regional to Local including the WWF and GCW.

The WWF, AWA, and GCW are the three promotions in the U.S. that can become Cult the quickest especially AWA because they don't have the NWA blocking them moving from region to region.

Georgia has TBS and do great in Southeast and second largest area in Popularity is the Great Lakes, but they can't capitalize on this until Detroit kicks the bucket. Which follows reality to a degree. In real life Georgia was running shows with Detroit before it finally collapsed.

WWF has two regions Tri-State and New England that they have Popularity. An to reflect some reality when it comes to WWF they start pretty low in pop in both regions. This is reflection that they are struggling with attendance at this time. Though with 4 of the biggest draws in the United States it only takes time before they become Cult even the A.I. hasn't been able to screw that up.

There is really only one way to stop the game from signing up all the talent for one company and that is non aggression pacts. Which makes the game world stagnant if we do it plus most companies will go to war over it if you break that. Even though I threw something in there to try stop WW III from beginning it is going to happen sooner or later.

As long as work and the rest of my life doesn't throw monkey wrench in my plans what we are calling Alpha version of the mod will be out in the next couple of weeks. This not a normal Alpha version though as the game world is fleshed out pretty good but somethings are missing that I need to add. Granted you could probably play this up to 2000 without having to add workers or companies.

Let's talk regions for a moment. Because the regions in the United States has been changed by me. AWA is in the Great Lakes region for example. Which incorporates the states of Indiana, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, Michigan, and West Virginia.

The reason for West Virginia inclusion in the Great Lakes is because who runs the state which is Detroit and in conjunction with Georgia Championship Wrestling. WWF runs Wheeling, WV by the way, but I don't believe in separating towns from a state. So if you want to book to real life your going to have to kill Detroit. I have searched the results and even though West Virginia is on the Mid-Atlantic sign I have seen no results from 1980 that they ran any shows there actually they don't run shows there until 85.

That leads me to Mid-Atlantic region which consists of three states. Virginia, North Carregionand South Carolina. This is what Jim Crockett Promotions ran at this time so that's why they are there. Before any complaints about moving Maryland, Washington D.C., Delaware, and West Virginia from Mid-Atlantic region you need understand I am trying to be accurate for the time period.

Tri-State region if he just combined the whole North East into one region it be so much easier. It consists of New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Washington DC, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware. WWF ran these states and New England which stays untouched.

WWF has access to the biggest arenas in the country and this stays true here. Though I lowered their popularity to 35 in both regions. So to simulate the struggle the WWF was going through at the time.

Promotion reveal Great Lakes:

AWA: as 1980 dawns they are the biggest American promotion. At least Verne Gagne can't screw the fans like he did in real life. Dropping the World Tag Team titles because he went on a European vacation. A win the World Title only to literally retire and handed back to Bockwinkel all in the same year.

WWA: Dick the Bruiser promotion which is still putting on good shows, but with aging roster they need to make changes or they may suffer in the future.

Big Time Wrestling Detroit: If you want to play as a hardcore promotion in 1980 the Sheik promotion is for you. This was literally ECW before ECW. Blood baths galore helped kill this promotion. It's on its last legs can you swoop in save the Sheik's promotion?

Mid-Atlantic Promotion reveal:

Jim Crockett Promotions: The promotion is on fire running three shows a night 6 days a week. In game they run two shows a week plus two TV shows. With guys like Ric Flair, Jim Brunzell, Blackjack Mulligan, Ricky Steamboat, Big John Studd, and Jimmy Snuka the promotion is becoming known as one of the best places to work.

Tri-State Promotion reveal

WWF: The promotion is hurting attendance wise. It seemed Vince Senior made a mistake putting the title on Bob Backlund but rumor is he made a bet with Eddie Graham that he could make Backlund a success. Some claim it's the shadow of the legendary Bruno Sammartino that looms largely over the young Backlund. Who is rumoring to retire this year. Though the WWF has a talented roster of aging stars mixed in with some hungry young up and comers like Tito Santana, Larry Zbyszko, and Hulk Hogan. The roster also has four of the biggest draws in the United States Andre the Giant, Bruno Sammartino, Bob Backlund, and Pat Patterson.

ECWA: Jim Kettner promotion is local company that runs out of Delaware. Will this be the promotion that you try to use and rise to rule the wrestling world?

New England Promotion reveal

All-Star Wrestling: Killer Kowalski promotion is another local promotion trying to make a name for it self. Vince McMahon Senior has been said to be keeping a close eye on this promotion as he fears it might be his greatest challenge.

I'm glad you moved WV so it does make sense for the time. Being from WV, I know of the history behind which territories came through which towns during certain time periods.

The Sheik ran Parkersburg WV as a spot show on and off but from the years of 81-83 ran Parkersburg every week at Parkersburg Catholic High School. (By this point Detroit was super dead).

Georgia started to come through by possibly late 1980 but I'll go with 1981 into towns like Wheeling, Logan, Williamson, Charleston, and Huntington along with Columbus for the Ohio side.

And then as you stated Crockett didn't come through until 1985 into Wheeling and Charleston once their TV expanded.

WWF stayed in the Wheeling area but did move about an hour south down the river in 1983 when they ran New Martinsville at Magnolia High School with the following card:

WWF @ New Martinsville, WV - June 6, 1983

Salvatore Bellomo pinned Baron Mikel Scicluna

Ken Jugan pinned Joey Abby

Don Kernodle pinned Steve King

Rocky Johnson defeated Sgt. Slaughter via disqualification

Ken Jugan later became Lord Zoltan who went on to have a 40 year career and is still wrestling to this day. Jugan also was on some of the later Sheik Parkersburg cards.

I think what you have done with the regions and the logic behind it is sound. It should also keep things more "territorial" as time moves on and make it hard for any one promotion to steamroll others, though AWA certainly seems to have the best chance.

It really is a shame Verne screwed that up so badly back in the day.
