jordanmason17
I ask this because I want to sign a wrestler on my AWA save but treat him as Tommy Cornell, with the ring name and the move-set but which wrestler do you think would be worthy of the Tommy Cornell name? I'm only in 1992 atm on my save so if the wrestlers people say haven't debuted yet I'll hold up on the signing but constantly hint at the 'next big thing' soon coming to the AWA
Greylocke
Whomever that has the best overall stats in your data, I would say, since that was what Cornell was, the best overall wrestler in the world.

James Casey
Ric Flair, probably, but in 1992 he may be a touch too old. Bret Hart (but still in his mid-30s there) or Shawn Michaels would be the obvious choices, perhaps Brian Pillman otherwise as he was a good all-rounder if not on Cornell's level. Devilb0y
In that time period it's probably Ric Flair.

Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels are often used as comparisons to Tommy, but Cornell's mic skills are miles ahead of anything Bret could ever do and he doesn't have the in-ring flashiness or the attitude problems of Michaels. They're not bad comparisons, they're just not perfect either.
BiffJordan
It's totally Flair.
Dorian
I usually say Bret Hart, because he's still at a good age (30s). Whereas Flair is up there in years. However, at that point in time it should still be Rick Flair as the most Tommy Cornell.

Basically Tommy Cornell is becoming Ric Flair. Except Tommy has someplace that he can go that isn't the biggest show in the world. Well, I guess third biggest (TCW) since USPW is now the biggest.

Derek B
I see Tommy Cornell as a lot more like Arn Anderson than any of the above, though obviously away out on his own league. He's a great technician and brawler who is a ring general, and also has insane skills on the microphone to take things to another level again. So while Arn may not have been the #1 guy in the world, he feels like the best comparison in terms of skills for Mr Cornell.

Guest skinsfan55
I'd say he's an amalgamation of a lot of guys. He's probably a worker on the par of Bret Hart or AJ Styles... he's got the mic skills of the Miz or Shawn Michaels... he's got the physique of a lot of good middleweight guys. KnowYourEnemy
Tommy has always been more Texas than Hollywood and more power than money.

I'd say he has the look and in-ring abilities of Orton and plays the "character" of HHH -- mind you, much better than HHH ever does.
WhyGuy
I always kind of saw him as Steve Austin if he had gotten a decent push much earlier and never broken his neck. Great promo, excellent ring general, good brawler and underrated tech skills. Obviously some of Steve's skills were never on that level and their characters ended up being different but they have that kind of old school style and I could see a lot of WCW Austin coming from Cornell. brat99
Obviously he's more over, but the combination of entertainment and skill lend themselves to a comparison to Jake Roberts or Ted DiBiase.
