NOTBPW: This Is Wrestling

Recommended Posts

Introduction

Hi guys, and welcome to a brand new dynasty. As I'm sure you've already realised, this is a North Of The Border Pro Wrestling diary. Just a few quick notes before we get started:

- First of all, there is no backstory for this diary, as I really want to get straight into writing it up.

- Speaking of write-ups, I'm just gonna quickly mention that my match write-ups are not going to be the most detailed write-ups ever. I will mention the main moments in the match, but won't be doing play-by-play so to speak.

- My user character is Jeremy Stone (the default owner), but that shouldn't really matter.

- Finally, I may do a prediction contest depending on the turnout, and how much interest there is in the diary.

Other than that, that's it! There'll be a roster and schedule up soon, and a 'rules' post, and then we can get started!

I hope you all enjoy NOTBPW: This Is Wrestling!

NOTBPW Championship Wrestling - Jan Wk. 1 Preview

http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh489/Scotsman381/NOTBPW/NOTBPW_zpsomxv8me6.jpg

NOTBPW Championship Wrestling is LIVE from the Quebec Stade Uniprix, in Quebec, Canada! It's the first show of 2016, and with only 2 weeks until the first PPV of the year, Big City Brawl, expect things to move along quickly as we continue to build on towards that event.

The Iron Challenge

At NOTBPW Winter War, Tim Westybrook won his first ever NOTBPW Canadian Championship, defeating Duane Stone for the gold. Stone is cashing in his rematch clause at Big City Brawl, but the match has been made a 3-Way with Steve DeColt added to the contest! Tonight, Steve DeColt and Duane Stone square off in a blockbuster of a main event. Who will gain an early advantage heading into Big City Brawl?

A Shot In The Dark

Ever since arriving on the scene here at NOTBPW, Shooter Sean Deeley has had to deal with the Can-Am Blondes. Tonight, he gets a chance at revenge, as he faces The Natural in our co-main event. With Owen Love banned from ringside, will Deeley gain a level of one-upsmanship, or will The Natural continue making life a misery for 'Shooter'?

Raising The Stakes

Even though they have been with NOTBPW for over 10 years, Sean McFly and Johnny Bloodstone's paths have rarely crossed. Until now, as recently, these two have been getting under each other's skin. Therefore, a tag match has been booked at Big City Brawl, with McFly and Bloodstone both having to find their own partners. Will either reveal their partner tonight, or are they still continuing their search?

Also, Cameron Vessey defends his NOTBPW Television Championship, we have a #1 Contenders Match to determine a new challenger for the NOTBPW Women's Championship and the NOTBPW Tag Team Champions are in action.

All this plus more on this edition of NOTBPW Championship Wrestling!

I'm not a frequent predictor, usually only cherry-picking a handful of diaries to make picks, but this one looked too fun to pass up! I love NOTB and often feel like it should get more attention from diary writers. Good luck! Can't wait to watch it unfold!

Strong ignores it, and forces Vessey into a headlock. Vessey rebounds Strong off the ropes, and hits a big clotheline as Strong is coming back towards him. This allows Vessey to take control, keeping Strong grounded using his size advantage, whilst talking trash to him as well as taunting to the crowd.

- Strong's biggest chance thus far in the match comes around halfway through, when Vessey goes for a suplex attempt, and Strong counters into a spinning neckbreaker. This gives Strong time to catch his breath, and hit Vessey with a dropkick, follwed by a leg drop that gets the challenger a 2 count.

- Strong then hits a body slam and goes to the top rope, looking to hit the Strong Sault, however as he dives off the top rope, Vessey rolls out of the way, causing Strong to hit the canvas face-first. No knowing who my opponent is gonna be. Now in a regular match, that's fine, but in a title match? That's just not on. I am the future of this company and professional wrestling as a whole, and it's about time I was treated with some respect!

Therefore, at Big City Brawl, I am officially retiring this championship and replacing it with a new title. A championship that doesn't have to be defended on TV shows. Which means I get to know my goddamn opponent before the day of the show. Now that's how you treat the future of the entire sport."

Sam Curran: Well, it looks like we're getting a new championship belt at Big City Brawl, to replace the TV Title. What do you think about that, partner?

Tom Townsend: Well, to be honest, I don't blame Cameron Vessey. He is the future of this sport, and therefore he needs to be treated with respect. Plum then does well to keep control for the first few minutes of the contest, hitting her opponents with an array of slams and suplexes, and not allowing either of them to get back up to their feet.

- However, as Plum lifts Sugiyama up for a powerbomb, the Japanese wrestler reverses into a sunset flip, before hitting her with an enziguiri, allowing Sugiyama to catch her breath. Then, as she notices Cacace (who'd rolled out of the ring to recover) making it to her feet on the outside, Sugiyama rebounds off the ropes and hits a perfect suicide dive, sending Cacace crashing into the barricade.

- Sugiyama then remains in control until Cacace regains her senses, and rolls back into the ring, sneaking up on Sugiyama and hitting her with a reverse DDT. This then becomes Cacace's time to shine, as she skillfully uses her power advantage to keep control. However, this comes back to bite her as she tries to hit a fisherman's suplex on Sugiyama, which is reversed into a snap suplex from the asian. This allows Plum to come up from behind, and hit a Plum Tucker on Sugiyama for the pinfall win.

Official Result: Kristabel Plum def. But we must quickly move on, as we have some breaking news coming from Johnny Bloodstone.

Tom Townsend: Indeed Sam, now as you should know, at Big City Brawl, Bloodstone and Sean McFly will face off in tag team action, with each man being told to find his own partner.

Sam Curran: And, although Sean McFly is still looking for his partner, Johnny Bloodstone has announced that his partner for Big City Brawl is none other than his protege, Jared Johnson.

Tom Townsend: I must admit, I think this is a great choice from Bloodstone, as he's chosen someone he knows extremely well, and he also knows how hardworking Johnson is, having trained him.

Sam Curran: That isn't the only announcement coming from backstage, as I've just been told that we're having an impromtu matchup this evening, between Jared Johnson and Sean McFly, and it's up next!

Match #3

Singles Match

20 Minute Time Limit

http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh489/Scotsman381/NOTBPW/Jared%20Johnson_zpsf9yrfraj.jpg vs. http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh489/Scotsman381/NOTBPW/Sean%20McFly_zpsuehwxuca.jpg

Jared Johnson vs. Sean McFly

- The match begins with a collar-and-elbow tie up, won by the bigger McFly, who then proceeds to take Johnson down in a side headlock position. Johnson manages to escape, and then duck a McFly punch, allowing him to get a back clinch locked in. However, McFly unclasps Johnson's hands, turns around and hits a belly-to-belly suplex on Johnson, which gets a quick 2 count.

- McFly stays in control for a while, until he goes for a corner clothesline, which Johnson moves out of the way from, causing McFly to crash into the turnbuckle. This gives Johnson a few seconds of recovery, however he then hits a superkick on McFly, making the 5 time Canadian Champion to fall to the canvas. Johnson then begins to hit elbow and leg drops on McFly before going top rope. However, McFly manages to shake the ropes, forcing Johnson to drop onto the top turnbuckle. This doesn't shake Johnson however, as when McFly moves over to Johnson, he hits McFly with a massive punch, which makes McFly turn his back to Johnson. The younger fighter then sees an opportunity, and locks in a rear naked choke, that has McFly gasping for air.

- Johnson has the rear naked choke on tight, and McFly uses his experience to not panic in the situation, and calmly walks towards the ropes for a break. However, this seems to really take the wind out of McFly, and Johnson looks to capitalise, however McFly jumps up and hits a quick Delorean Driver for the pin.

Official Result: Sean McFly def. This works also, as Robinson takes the larger Haynes down to the canvas and continues working over the tag team champion.

- Robinson & Bennett stay in control for the first few minutes of the contest, using frequent tags to keep each partner fresh. The tag champion's turning point comes when Bennett goes for a suplex on Haynes, who reverses it into one of his own, and managing to tag in a fresh Omar Brown, who begins to punish Bennett.

- Brown does well to keep Bennett isolated, but it becomes clear that the toll of having no one to tag out to (as Haynes is recovering), is getting too much for the champion. Eventually, Brown goes for a half-hearted bodyslam, which is reversed into a german suplex by Bennett, who tags in Robinson. He backs off but comes running once again at The Natural, hitting him with a corner clothesline and then going to the top rope and hitting a double axe handle.

- Shooter's clear rage at The Natural keeps him in control for the first half of the match, as he doesn't give the Can-Am Blondes competitor any breathing room. However, his anger ends up costing him as when The Natural is on the outside, Deeley attempts to dive onto him, but his unfamiliarity with the maneuver costs him, as he hesitates and allows The Natural to roll back into the ring and hit him with a crossbody as Deeley rebounds off the ropes.

- This turns out to be a pivotal moment, as it allows The Natural to take control, keeping Deeley at bay and resorting to dirty tactics such as eye pokes if the situation calls for it. After wearing down Deeley, he goes for the Nature Calls, but Deeley manages to counter into an arm drag, before hitting The Natural with a dropkick that gives Shooter some recovery time.

- The finish comes not long after, as a now much calmer Deeley applies a front choke lock that The Natural is unable to escape from, forcing him to tap out and giving Deeley the submission win.

Official Result: Shooter Sean Deeley def. After beating Deeley unconscious, the Blondes hit him with a Culture Clash before taunting in front of the fans, happy with the message they've sent to Shooter.

Sam Curran: What is it with The Can-Am Blondes, they just can't leave Shooter Sean Deeley alone! As we get into the action, they begin with a collar-and-elbow tie up, won by Duane Stone who immediately takes DeColt down with a side headlock takedown, and transitioning to a front facelock, trying to cut off some of the oxygen going to DeColt's brain.

- The two continue to chain wrestle for the first few minutes, with Stone coming out on top more often than not, and sometimes using a guillotine choke to further apply pressure to DeColt's neck. Eventually, DeColt escapes the multitude of holds that Stone has him tied up in, and starts to use the athleticism that his family is known for to try and gain an edge.

- This allows DeColt to constantly keep Stone on his heels, and when he hits a scoop powerslam, Stone doesn't see it coming. This gives DeColt a sense of control, and he begins using higher impact moves such as slams and suplexes to keep Stone hurting and on the ground. However, DeColt begins to get cocky, and this costs him as when he attempts a superplex on Stone from the second rope, Stone punches his way out of it and sends DeColt to the canvas below, before following up with a big splash which brings back memories of his younger self.

- This allows Stone to gain control, and use his better ground game to keep DeColt from getting up, never not having DeColt in some sort of hold, and continuing to apply pressure to DeColt's neck with multiple submission holds such as guillotine chokes and arm triangles that have DeColt literally gasping for air.

- Around 20 minutes into the so far relatively even match, DeColt's biggest moment comes when he's locked in an arm triangle choke, DeColt uses every bit of energy he can muster to lift Stone up and slam him back down to the canvas. This gives DeColt time to catch his breath, and as Stone rises to his feet, DeColt sends him back down again with a DDT.

- This becomes the most one-sided the contest has been up to this point, as DeColt doesn't allow Stone to get back to his feet before hitting an impact move. DeColt continues to utilise high impact moves, that keep Stone on the ground and writhing in pain.

- As the clock reaches two minutes until the time limit, DeColt starts to rush, and after numerous unsuccessful DeColt Stampede attempts, he gets frustrated which allows Stone to the Alabaster Agony with around 20 seconds to go. As Stone squeezes as hard as he can, and DeColt tries to relieve the pressure, the clock passes 10 seconds until the time limit.

- As the clock counts down the final seconds, the crowd are on the edge of their seat, looking to see if DeColt will tap or pass out due to the pain before the time limit. Eventually, the time limit sounds, and Stone lets go of the hold as NOTBPW Championship Wrestling goes off the air with two of the greatest Canadian wrestlers of all time lieing in the ring, staring at the lights having just been in a war.

Official Result: Duane Stone & Steve DeColt fought to a time limit draw (30:00)

Grade: B

Overall Show Grade: B

NOTBPW Championship Wrestling - Jan Wk. 2 Preview

NOTBPW Championship Wrestling is LIVE from the Ottawa Rams Stadium in Ontario, Canada, and this is the final show before NOTBPW Big City Brawl!

After sitting last week out and watching his two competitors go at it in a 30 minute war, NOTBPW Canadian Champion Tim Westybrook is in action against Owen Love, who has unfinished business with Shooter Sean Deeley.

Also, Sean McFly is once again in action, this time against John Maverick, and with his big tag match at Big City Brawl, we are all wondering if he has found a partner yet, unlike Johnny Bloodstone, who chose his partner last week, in Jared Johnson. Bloodstone is also in action tonight against Johnson's current tag team partner, Julian Watson.

Plus, it's the final defence of the NOTBPW Television Championship, before Cameron Vessey replaces it with a new, as yet un-named championship, but we do know he'll have to defend it against a mystery opponent at the PPV, which must annoy the TV Champ, who's retiring the current title due to a lack of preparation before his matches.

Finally, Derek Frost is in action, as is the Women's Champion and Alexander Robinson and Omar Brown face off in a preview of the upcoming NOTBPW Tag Team Championship match at Big City Brawl.

All this plus more on this edition of NOTBPW Championship Wrestling!

NOTBPW Big City Brawl Preview

LIVE from Thrush Meadows in the Alberta region of Canada, it's time for the first PPV of 2016! This is Big City Brawl!

Our main event pits three of the best wresters in the world against each other, all for the NOTBPW Canadian Championship! It's the champion, Tim Westybrook defending against the man he took the title from Duane Stone, and Steve DeColt. The latter two competitors fought for 30 minutes just 2 weeks ago on Championship Wrestling, are either of them still feeling the effects from that gruelling match? And will Tim Westybrook's first title defence be a successful one?

In tonight's co-main event, Johnny Bloodstone teams with his protege, Jared Johnson, to take on Sean McFly and an unknown partner in tag action. McFly has said he has a partner, he is just waiting to reveal him at the PPV. Who will McFly's partner be and will he be enough to gain victory?

Also, we have a 2-on-1 handicap match on our hands! The Can-Am Blondes made Shooter Sean Deeley's life a living hell ever since he arrived here in NOTBPW. Well, Deeley had had enough, and challenged the 'Blondes' to a Handicap Match. Is this a big mistake by 'Shooter', or will he manage to pull off the upset over one of the most decorated teams in history?

Finally, Cameron Vessey said that he was sick of defending the NOTBPW Television Championship night in, night out, putting too much pressure on himself practically every week. He said he'd put an end to it and at Big City Brawl, he is going to as he is officially retiring the TV Title, and replacing it with a brand new championship belt. However, NOTBPW management have told Vessey that he must defend his new belt straight after the big reveal, so who will Vessey's mystery opponent be, and will he win the brand new championship on it's first day of existence?

Plus, Brooke Tyler defends her NOTBPW Women's Championship against Kristabel Plum and Omar Brown & Harlem Haynes defend their NOTBPW Tag Team Titles against Alexander Robinson & Lee Bennett.

All this plus more at NOTBPW Big City Brawl!

This stops however, when the two lock up in a collar-and-elbow tie up for the third time, and Brown hits an elbow to the face of Bennett, and follows it up with a snap suplex that allows him to take control of the match.

- Frequent tags keep Bennett isolated and the champions fresh, with Haynes especially hitting big moves relatively early in the match, that keep him and his partner in control for the first half of the championship contest.

- These big moves come back to bite Haynes however, as when the heavyweight brawler goes to hit a fallaway slam, but Bennett shows off some surprising agility to land on his feet, and hit a german suplex on the champion that gives the challenger some breathing room, and a chance to tag in Robinson.

- As well as Robinson, Brown is also tagged in, but Robinson is tagged in earlier, and therefore has the advantage of jumping Brown with a hangman DDT as he climbs through the ropes. This gives the challengers their first sense of control in the contest, and Robinson feels this, pulling out a full nelson slam and a two handed bulldog that garner a 2 count.

- The finish comes with Robinson still in control, and Bennett having just recovered from the beating he took in the first half of the match. So when Brown counters a DDT into a northern lights suplex, Robinson goes to tag in his partner. However, Haynes is wary of this, and pulls Bennett off the apron, causing his head to crash on the turnbuckle. Then, Brown hits a powerslam on Robinson, and tags in Haynes, where the champions hit their double team finisher, the Mafia-German Combo Hit on Robinson and Haynes covers to retain their titles.

Official Result: Brown & Haynes def. She then takes Plum down in a side headlock, and then lifts up in a handstand before dropping her knees onto the head of Plum.

- The champion stays in control, applying various restholds and occasionally going for her finisher, the Brooke Breaker, but she can never lock it in. When Tyler has Plum in a front facelock, the challenger rises to her feet (causing Tyler to do the same), and lifts the champion up before slamming her straight back down to the canvas, head-first.

- This gives Plum control, who uses it to wear Tyler down, hitting numerous elbow drops, and also rebounding off the ropes and hitting a jumping leg drop that gets a 2 count. Plum then hits a bodyslam, before ascending to the top rope and hitting a diving fist drop. She then hits a pumphandle slam that garners another nearfall.

- Tyler manages to get herself back into the contest by hitting a neckbreaker when Plum was least expecting it, and then goes to work on the neck and shoulders, hitting leg drops across the neck, and also pulling out a brainbuster, to the surprise of the crowd. As The Natural gets back up to his feet, Deeley throws him into the corner (opposite Owen Love) and unloads a barrage of punches, again forcing the referee to intervene and start a 5 count, that Deeley uses up. 'Shooter' then follows up with a bulldog from out of the corner for a 2 count.

- The Natural's opening comes when 'Shooter' goes for a snake eyes, but the Can-Am Blonde wriggles out, and drops Deeley with a chop block before leaping from one side of the ring to the other and tagging in Owen Love.

- Love comes out fast, hitting Deeley with a clothesline and following it up with an arm drag and dropkick. He then hits a michinoku driver, before applying a grounded side headlock, forcing the crowd to boo and cutting the oxygen from Deeley's brain. 'Shooter' rises up from it, but is immediately sent back down to the canvas by Love, who hits a jumping elbow drop and applies a front facelock, again slowing down the contest.

- The story of the match becomes Deeley finding an opening, but then being unable to capitalise as his opponent tags in their partner, and he being unable to tag in a partner of his own, becoming increasingly tired in the process. This continues throughout the rest of the match, until Deeley hits a reverse DDT on The Natural, and stops him from tagging in Love. This fires up the crowd, motivating 'Shooter' who gains a second wind, and and begins to come back, hitting two clothesline on The Natural followed by a back body drop, and knocking Owen Love off the apron. Deeley hits a swinging neckbreaker and then looks to set up the seated stretch armbar, but as Deeley locks it in, Owen Love immediately breaks it up.

- This allows The Natural to tag in his partner, who waits for Deeley to rise to his feet before hitting the Love Gun (Gutbuster) and pinning 'Shooter' for the win.

Official Result: The Can-Am Blondes def. He tags McFly back in, and the two fan-favourites continue to work like this for the first part of the match.

- Johnson's opening comes when DeColt makes a mistake, not paying attention to his opponent whilst taking it all in. This allows Johnson to hit a quick dropkick, and tag in Bloodstone, who uses his technical wrestlng to keep DeColt grounded on the mat.

- Bloodstone uses his experience to stay in control for a long majority of the match, knowing that DeColt may be letting the feeling of performing on a grand stage get to him. However, when Bloodstone has DeColt in a dragon sleeper, the blonde wrestler rises to his feet and hits a short elbow to the head of Bloodstone, stunning him and allowing DeColt to tag in McFly.

- McFly and Bloodstone face off, milking the reaction from the crowd, who are literally bursting at the seams to see the two rivals fight. However, as soon as it looks like they're about to go at it, Bloodstone tags in Johnson to thunderous boos from the audience.

- This angers McFly, who runs right at Johnson, and hits him with a big boot, before whipping him into the ropes and hitting a spinebuster on the rebound. He then lifts Johnson up and hits an alabama slam. He then tags in Ricky DeColt, who waits for Johnson to get up before hitting him with the DeColt 45 (Canadian Backbreaker Drop). He then pins Johnson, whilst McFly cuts off the ring from Bloodstone, and DeColt and McFly pick up the win.

Official Result: Sean McFly & Ricky DeColt def. They immediately lock up, the exchange won by the larger Westybrook, who takes Stone down and immediately starts striking him with ground-and-pound, looking to damage Stone early.

- After doing some considerable damage to Stone, Westybrook turns his attention to DeColt. However, when the champion goes to him, DeColt kicks Westybrook straight on the knee-cap, causing it to buckle and allowing DeColt to work over the champion's knee on the outside.

- When DeColt sees Duane Stone recovering in the ring, he enters and quickly floors him with a clothesline, before continually stomping on him until he tires himself out. DeColt then gets creative, hanging Stone on the top turnbuckle in a tree of woe, before giving himself a run-up and hitting a front dropkick right to Stone's unprotected torso.

- This is how the first half of the match plays out, with DeColt alternating between Westybrook on the outside, and Stone in the ring. This works well, however when Duane Stone gives him some trouble, courtesy of a huge hayemaker of a right hand to the jaw, it allows Westybrook to recover and enter the ring. Stone and Westybrook then double team DeColt, hitting him with a double-DDT as well as a double-suplex.

- Then, as we enter the final 10 minutes of the match, Stone and Westybrook fight it out, going all out to hurt their opponent, whether it's with kicks, knees, elbows, punches or a variety. Stone makes the breakthrough however, ducking a Westybrook punch and hitting a belly-to-belly suplex in a very impressive show of strenth. Stone then works over Westybrook on the canvas, before locking in the Alabaster Agony (Camel Clutch).

- Westybrook refuses to tap out, and eventually DeColt makes the save, kicking Stone square in the face. As Duane rises to his feet, DeColt kicks him in the gut and hits him with the DeColt Stampede (Curb Stomp). However, as he covers Stone, Tim Westybrook comes from behind and lifts DeColt up and hits the TNT Whirlwind (Half and Half Suplex) before pinning him and retaining him title.

Official Result: Tim Westbrook def.
