Lobo Blanco vs Sandra Shine

Blanco's skills are far too good for him not to be in the final

Alistair Shufflebottom vs Kirk Drury

I just think Drury has a little more about him, and Shufflebottom isn't going to push himself without any good reason

Brimstone vs Fearless Blue

Blue seems like the fall guy, while Brimstone has the potential to be a goo character down the road.

Mercutio Sleep vs Mercy Michaels

I've always found Michaels to be underwhelming while I've seen Sleep develop to a solid midcard guy for these kinds of promotions

Blanco is better -- then again, hes probably way more expensive... so possibly he ends up putting Shine over

Kick Ass has the name and ability to be the first champ, so it makes sense the owner gets him over here.

Really, no matter who wins, they will soon lose -- Brimstone may be willing to take stunt bumps/crazy bumps, I'm going with him here.

Mercutio Sleep vs Mercy Michaels

Of the two, Mercutio can bump better

Lobo Blanco vs Sandra Shine

Lobo has to be the man on this roster, and getting him the belt first will help the shows as he'll be a focal point.

Alistair Shufflebottom vs Kirk Drury

Bit of a coin flip, but I think a Drury/Lobo feud goes over better and let's the booker-man focus on someone else.

Brimstone vs Fearless Blue

I just think Blue is here to lose, and lose a lot.

Mercutio Sleep vs Mercy Michaels

As many have said before, Sleep has the upside that I don't think Michaels has.

Fearless Blue vs Brimstone

While both men can put on a good match when given the right opponent it would seem it isn't ideal to have these two face off. They can perform some exciting offense, but Brimstone is raw and Fearless Blue isn't good enough to carry someone like that just yet. The match is kept for the most part pretty fast paced and short with both men getting in good offense. Brimstone looks set to win a few times, but mistakes lead to Blue gaining momentum and eventually putting Brimstone away with a Springboard Lariat.

Winner: Fearless Blue

http://i.imgur.com/JXwWlg0.jpg

For someone who lost last month, Mercutio Sleep still seems to have a cocky swagger to him and it doesn't look like he was humbled at all after being beaten by the veteran that is Lobo Blanco.

Mercutio Sleep: "A minor setback occurred last month, but I am all about the future and not the past. The future is right here in the ring. The future is Mercutio Sleep. That belt will be mine soon enough. First I take care of the white trash I have to face tonight and then it is on to bigger, better things."

http://i.imgur.com/BafMMCC.jpg

Mercy Michaels doesn't seem to like being called white trash and he comes to the ring with a bad attitude and a steel chair.

Mercutio Sleep: "What?! No! No! You stay back!"

Sleep goes on the run and Mercy gives chase. Eventually the referee manages to grab the chair and while he is trying to wrestle it away from Mercy that is when Mercutio Sleep attacks.

Mercy Michaels vs Mercutio Sleep

Another short match, but less because of skill and more for the fact Mercy seems to run out of steam a bit easily. His ring skills aren't very polished, but Sleep is a good enough opponent that it masks the weaknesses of Michaels a bit. There is some offense from Mercy who does get some hits in on Sleep, but the Pearl Harbor job as well as a few other dirty tactics keep Mercutio in control. He hefts up Mercy onto his shoulders when is all said and done and puts Mercy away with a Go To Sleep.

Winner: Mercutio Sleep

Lobo Blanco vs Sandra Shine

A competitive and very well put together match. Lobo once again is relying on his technical prowess, but Sandra actually is skilled enough in that area herself she surprises him with a few reversals and there is a nice sequence at the start where Lobo is thrown off his game due to Sandra escaping some of his holds and even managing to get him in a few of her own. Once he starts to made adjustments the match starts to turn more in Lobo's favor. As good as Sandra is the experience the veteran has over her shows and once he figures things out he grounds the rookie. Sanda puts up a valiant effort, but Lobo keeps her from really ever regaining momentum and eventually gets her in the Indian Deathlock. Sandra struggles for a bit, but eventually has to tap. Lobo Blanco advances to the tournament finals.

Winner: Lobo Blanco

http://i.imgur.com/kpFkTn5.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/RAoWMrz.jpg

Kirk Drury comes out next looking prepared for the main event of the evening. He then calmly raises a hand and tries to get the small crowd to quiet down so he can be heard.

Kirk Drury: "Alistair, I would like you to come out, but before we start to wrestle I wish to tell you something."

http://i.imgur.com/Vf5o2Qf.jpg

An unsure looking Alistair Shufflebottom comes to the ring. He looks ready to defend himself, but then seems less tense when Kirk offers a hand.

Kirk Drury: "We go back a few years and I have to say I hope you are ready to give your all because I am ready to move on and become the first champ here in AAW."

Alistair looks to the hand and eventually shakes it. He does his best to look confident while speaking up himself.

Alistair Shufflebottom: "I never saw myself being in this situation. Just two wins away from actually holding a belt. Kirk, this isn't ACPW and I am not the kid you might remember. Give it your all because I am about to."

Kirk just gets a grin and nods. They back into their respective corners and get ready to fight.

'Kick Ass' Kirk Drury vs Alistair Shufflebottom

The match suffers a bit from both men perhaps trying to do too much. It still turns out to be a good match for a company their size, but it perhaps isn't as good as the one before it. Both men perhaps should have tried to go at a bit slower of pace to reduce a few miscues that happen, but it isn't enough to fully lose the crowd at least. Alistair shines early and Kirk is thrown off by the the quick offense and high flying, but once Kirk manages to snatch Alistair and deliver a big release German suplex on his opponent he starts to find momentum shift into his favor. He puts on a display of some nice slams and suplexes on the smaller Shufflebottom and maybe gets a bit cocky. Cocky enough he is surprised and almost pinned by cradle out of nowhere from Shufflebottom. It is the last close call he has and as much fight Alistair puts up he finds himself in the Scorpion Deathlock and is forced to tap.

Winner: Kirk Drury

Final Rating: 37

- We flip flopped a few times on who the main event would be. In the end Art decided me and Kirk should end the show just on the fact in Canada we have more name value than Lobo Blanco and we also didn't want to put too much pressure on Sandra.

- Apparently we didn't have to worry about that since she and Lobo easily had the best match. A lot of credit goes to Lobo, but Sandra held her own as well. In the end it is no surprise though that we decided to go with a Lobo and Kirk final. Art had considered me to possibly take a place in the final, but I talked him out of it. I already have enough pressure on me both wrestling and booking. Throw in the fact I also did road agent work again being champion was just a bit too much.

- It didn't seem we gained fans, but the plus side is we didn't lose any either. It seems for the most part the same group that showed up last month returned so we must have done something right. Now we just need to keep it up and hope they start to spread the word.

- We'll be crowning our first champ next month. I admit I am excited. It is only our third show, but with the belt being introduced it is by far our biggest and most important. I also admit I am excited to see Lobo and Kirk go at it as well.

Alistair: "Oh man. That looks great, Art! Who did you have make it?"

Art: "Same guy that did the belts for ACPW when they were needing them. Someone I met during my CGC days."

I knew Art had said he was having a belt made, but honestly I was surprised it looked so nice. Given our size we could have gotten away with a more simple looking one. I looked it over after having it handed to me and I couldn't help but grin. At the same time it was a reminder that this may be the closest I ever get to holding a title.

Art: "Tears welling up a bit there, kiddo."

Alistair: "Mmm? Nothing. Just that it is cool. I think everyone else will love it too."

Art: "Wanting to wear it to the ring, don't you?"

Alistair: "I would be a liar if I said no. Isn't that what we are in the business for? To dream about holding titles?"

Art: "Part of it. Don't get yourself down about it though. Not like you are retiring in a year or something. You might not be the first champ, but nothing says you won't be a champ eventually."

Alistair: "Yeah. And to be honest it would be too much pressure right now. I am not exactly used to this whole booking thing yet."

Art: "You have done just fine, kiddo. In fact when you can get your mitts off the title and take a moment to clear your head we got to start work on the next show."

AAW All Action Canadian Champion

Lobo Blanco vs Kirk Drury

Popularity carries the day, and a feud with Lobo will help build him up in Canada to be a viable champion down the line.

Other Matches Include

Brimstone vs Mercy Michaels

Eventually I will be right when I pick Brimstone...

Mercutio Sleep vs Fearless Blue

Sleep is quickly becoming a top 3 or 4 guy for you.

Alistair Shufflebottom vs Sandra Shine

Shine is doing well, but she needs to settle into the midcard a bit before pushing to the top. Alistair will be in title talk so he needs the popularity bump to work with Drury and Lobo Blanco.

Mercutio Sleep vs Fearless Blue

Blue is another guy who had bit better run in your last diary than what I would usually expect him to have. Alistair Shufflebottom vs Sandra Shine

Either one could win but I have hard time picking women over men in these situations (and I´m sure I will be making plenty of miss picks during this diary because of that) so I go with Alistair on this one.

He's costly, but it seems like Art has given you a pretty solid kitty to work with at the start. He'll put on great (for your level at least) matches with pretty much anyone and can really help you grow. Plus I think you need a quality heel and this would be a great reason to turn Kirk Drury.

Gotta be careful with pushing a young talent too quickly. I think AS needs a win to bounce back from the tournament loss, while Shine will just benefit from being in the ring with a pretty solid worker.

Brimstone vs Mercy Michaels

A rather sloppy match. These two are probably the most unpolished of the group and it shows. It is mostly a wild brawl, though Brimstone does a bit of high flying which seems to give him the advantage. Mercy seems to start slowing down the longer the match goes as well and he eventually falls victim to the Ashes to Ashes.

Mercutio Sleep, the man everyone loves to hate comes out looking annoyed and he gets in Fearless Blue's face. Blue looks confused, but steps back and rubs the back of his neck.

Mercutio Sleep: "Tell me. Why do I have to keep fighting you rednecks? Shouldn't you all be in the south watching Duck Dynasty or something? I should be fighting for the title, but...but instead here I am!"

Fearless Blue: "Well shucks. Sorry you feel that way, Mister Sleep. I guess I can only tell you one thing."

Mercutio Sleep vs Fearless Blue

Blue starts out strong and he is taking some big risks early on that pays off until Sleep manages to get his wits about him. He moves out of the way from a big dive that sends Blue crashing outside which allows Sleep to quickly take over. He keeps Blue grounded and starts to work him over and keep the pace slower. He has several chances to put Blue away, but he is getting cocky and complacent. Fearless Blue is able to capitalize and starts to fight back. He starts to deliver some big moves again and Mercutio is left flailing. Big bulldog from Blue and he quickly follows it up with a Sky Twister Press. Fearless Blue wins!

Sandra Shine vs Alistair Shufflebottom

The two possibly most well rounded workers square off and they start out the gates quickly with some counter wrestling mixed with more wild, exciting moves. The pair exchange momentum and the pace rarely slows, but yet they manage to keep the match flowing well without overdoing things. Several close pinfalls, but Shufflebottom's experience helps him come out on top as he puts Sandra away with a 450 Splash.

The finalists to the title tournament come to the ring and meet face to face. The belt is hefted in the air as Kurt Lovenkrantz shows it off to the fans then lets each competitor take a look at it. Kirk then holds out a hand to Lobo as a show of sportsmanship. The masked wrestler takes a moment and gives it a shake. They then back into corners and prepare for the big match.

Lobo Blanco vs 'Kick Ass' Kirk Drury

Perhaps not the most exciting match, but the two do well to draw the crowd in and they rely more on their technical skills than anything else. The result is a lot of counters and chain wrestling. Kirk is good, but Lobo shows he is better and his experience combined with that skill is letting him dictate the pace of the match for the most part and gain control. Lobo goes for the Indian Deathlock a few times, but each time Kirk realizes what he is up to and either stops him or gets to the ropes before it is locked in fully. Kirk is on the defense, but also seems to be picking his spot and he manages to reverse another Deathlock attempt to actually get Lobo in the Scorpion Deathlock. Lobo gets to the ropes and the two start to exchange blows again. Kirk gets another counter and this time locks on the Scorpion Deathlock in the middle of the ring. Lobo fights and tries to get to the ropes then tries to break free. Kirk manages to keep things locked in and Lobo eventually is forced to tap.

Final Rating: 42

- It was a tough choice, but in the end we went with Kirk as the winner. He probably is the best known name out of our little group and while he may not be the most exciting he is consistent and good in the ring. With the right opponents he should do just fine as the first champ.

- The show itself turned out pretty well. We expected Brimstone and Mercy not to be great and that was why we did it for the first match. The other three matches I feel more than made up for the messy match those two had.

- After being in the ring with Sandra I am very impressed how good she has been wrestling for less than a year. She had some good training and if someone like AAA or NOTBPW get ahold of her they are getting a star.

- At the start of the show Mercy forgot to pay for his share on the trip to the show when riding along with Sandra Shine. Art Lawson has found Mercy guilty and he will be paying tonight's bar tab.

(OOC: Apologies for delay. Been working at getting a new house and have been in the process of doing moving and such too. Should finally have that all over with in the coming weeks so I can try to be more consistent after that.)

Art: "Hey, kiddo. You look like you are about to fall asleep. Should we wait on this?"

Alistair: "Mmm? No, I am good. You sounded excited and I didn't want to make you wait. Just had a bit of a long week."

A long week that involved me helping several members of the roster move. Mercy, Kurt, Brimstone and Lobo all decided to find a place up this way to help reduce travel costs. I guess in most cases they also found part time to full time jobs on the side since we aren't exactly giving the best pay. I felt helping them get settled in was the least I could offer and despite being in shape all the lifting and moving kind of takes its toll.

Art: "Hah, yeah. I guess I am excited, but it could wait. I think we will hold off on finishing up the show as a whole until you get some rest."

Alistair: "That is fine. What is it you want to show me?"

Art: "Well finances aren't as bad as off as I thought they would be starting out. Thought about freshening up the roster a bit and expanding it. Wanted you to look over some contracts and help me pick things out."

That part sort of surprised me. I know Art hasn't been paying himself on the fact he is mostly at the shows as a spectator and nothing more. If he is needed he can be grabbed, but all aspects beyond helping me book prior to the show are pretty much in my hands.

Alistair: "Wow, looks like you got quite a few names. Some good ones too. Cal Sanders....Emma Bitch.....are you sure we can afford names like this?"

Art: "Well this isn't anything final. I didn't want to exclude too much. Just sort of sticking to the guidelines I gave you before. No one over thirty-five for now, no one that has had problems with the law and I still think it best to stay away from those more focused on the entertainment side of things. We're more of a wrestling company."

Alistair: "I see. Well this might take awhile to go through, but I think we can find someone."

I admit there were some names I had never heard of before. Most are pretty young and fit in with the rest of the motley crew we already have. I admit someone like Cal would be nice just for another veteran presence, but I am not sure how much money Art is looking to spend on new talents.

Art: "We can take our time. Narrow things down and see if we can find tape on the names that we keep in the smaller pool. Working with Lobo on something too. Nothing solid there yet so don't want to say too much until it seems like a done deal."

I just nodded and wondered what that could be. Lobo has connections with South of the Border Pro Wrestling, but I hardly doubt it could be anything involving them. Best not think about it too much until Art makes a bigger deal about it. Even as I sifted through the papers my eyes grew heavy. Art continued to talk and I guess I was more tired than I thought. I fell asleep on his couch and stayed there until the next morning. When I woke up Art was out on errands but he left some files on the desk with a note.

'Hey, I narrowed things down. Pick from these names' is all it said. After looking through them I only had one thought. Who are these people?

Kirk Drury © vs ???

Always wary of betting against ??? but I do feel it's a bit soon to be changing champ.

Brimstone vs Alistair Shufflebottom

I like Brimstone. He's not quite at a level to be winning this though.

Lobo Blanco vs Fearless Blue

Blanco Vs. Blue in Colour-coded combat. Can't see Blue winning two on the spin.

Mercy Michaels vs Sandra Shine

I get the sense that Mercy is bottom of the pile and will be looking at the lights here too.

Kirk Drury © vs ???

More of a "let's be original" pick, but I see a rematch out of this angle.

Brimstone vs Alistair Shufflebottom

Shufflebottom will take this one -- wouldn't be surprised to see him in the next title bout.

Lobo Blanco vs Fearless Blue

Blanco has far more going for him.

Mercy Michaels vs Sandra Shine

Mercy quickly looking like a Job Guy here.
