Kansas Championship Wrestling: The Revolution

Recommended Posts

$10,000,000. What would a normal 17 year old kid do with $10,000,000? Probably buy a lot of clothes, video games, etc. Not me. I'm starting a wrestling company. Hey, don't look at me like that. It's my money, and I'll do what I want with it.

My name is Mike Schaplowsky, and I am a 17 year old (I'm not really 17, but in 1997 I was, and since I am using the MA mod in December of 1997, well you do the math) high school senior. Wrestling has been a big part of my life since I was 9 years old. My first taste of wrestling was Royal Rumble 1989. I was hooked right away. I still remember Clash of the Champions 8, in which Terry Funk tried to smother Ric Flair with a plastic bag. I wanted to throw my remote through the tv, or hop through the tv and go after Funk myself.

I've just come across a $10,000,000 inheritance from my grandmother who has passed away. Nobody knew she had it (this part is all fiction btw), so imagine the jaws that hit the floor when the will was read and I found out ALL $10,000,000 was in my name!!! And I'm investing it all to have a wrestling company in good ol' Kansas.

I'm calling it Kansas Championship Wrestling, and starting from the ground up. No popularity, no prestige, but decent momentum. Wrestling has been a big part of Kansas for many years. I've seen a number of house shows and live television events in Kansas, and I'm honored to have a promotion in which for the foreseeable future, every single show will be based somewhere in Kansas. I have gathered a nice roster of about 16 guys, plus a referee, a road agent, and an announcer. While we won't have a tv contract for a while, I will be releasing our shows on home video. We'll have a weekly 1 hour show every Saturday night. I'll be revealing the roster soon, but anybody that has anything to add, please do so. I'm interested in any and all comments.

<p>I am not going to include graphics while revealing the roster, simply because I am on time constraints and I will keep my format the same as my WCW dynasty, where I will include graphics during the shows. I'm hoping to attract readers with some of my backstory, and I'll probably try some story telling throughout the dynasty. For now though, to get a jump on it, I'll post a quick look at the roster, and announce the matches for the first ever KCW live show.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Angle- The Boss Speaks</strong></p><p> </p><p>

KCW Owner <strong>Mike Schaplowsky</strong> opens the show in the ring with a microphone.</p><p> </p><p>

"Welcome to... K...C...W!!!!! Fans, it's an honor to be here in Lawrence, Kansas, home of the Kansas University Jayhawks!! *big pop from the small crowd*. Now, let me tell you a little bit about KCW. First, we have an outstanding roster. Granted, we have our work cut out for us, as we are currently ranked 32 out of 32 promotions, but we will work our asses off to give you the best damn product we can!"</p><p> </p><p>

"KCW is going to have 2 main championships. We will have the big title, which will be the KCW Championship. Tonight, in this very ring, we will crown our first KCW champion in a 4 way elimination match involving <strong>John Tenta</strong>, <strong>Scott Putski</strong>, <strong>Scoot Andrews</strong>, and <strong>Andrew Martin</strong>, who will from now on be known as just "Test". </p><p> </p><p>

"Also, we will have a secondary championship. It will be more of a mid-card championship. I am still deciding on a name for it, but we will be having a championship match for it in the very near future. With a 1 hour show, there's only so much to do."</p><p> </p><p>

"Now, for what I hope will be the major selling point of KCW. Every April, we will have a 16 man single elimination tournament. It will be for the King of Kansas Championship. We will have 8 wrestlers that are on the KCW roster full time, and we will bring in 8 other wrestlers from outside the world. Now fans, if you're expecting guys like Goldberg, Stone Cold, and the Rock, you can forget it. *loud boo*. My hands are tied, and we will be looking to bring in guys that I foresee making an impact in the future. I have working deals with several small promotions like us, so there will be talent trades. but I promise you, this 16 man tournament every April will be spectacular!" *huge roar from the crowd*. "Alright, I have taken enough of your time, so let's get this show started shall we? *KCW chant arises from the 12 people in attendance* We have a very exciting match between 2 young up and comers, so give me a referee and let's get it on!"</p><p> </p><p>

So.. I've realized that we need a specific venue. Preferably something in my hometown of Wichita. Being a high school senior, I've had meetings with my principal and vice principal, and I'm proud to announce that for the foreseeable future, KCW Live will be held in the gymnasium of my high school, Northeast Magnet High School, every Saturday night!

Breaking News

http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q647/sportsfanmas/ted%20turner_zps3zah0tbb.png

1938-1998

Shocking news out of WCW today. I won't broadcast a lot of news from other companies, but I will mention important deaths, retirements, etc. I'm sad to announce that Ted Tuner passed away yesterday. For those who don't know, Turner was the owner of WCW and was very instrumental for his part in the Monday Night Wars. No word on who will take over the company, but as soon as we hear, we'll be sure to let you know.

Charlie Haas debuted his legitimate athlete gimmick, rated Very Good.

In-Ring Performances:

Angle- Jannetty/Stasiak hype video

A music video hyping the Marty Jannetty vs. Shawn Stasiak match plays, as the crowd looks on in suspense.

Rating: 38

The "Jannetty vs. Stasiak feud" storyline advanced with this segment.

Shawn Stasiak pinned Marty Jannetty in 10:34 by submission after a blatant low blow.

Rating: 44

In-Ring Performances:

Marty Jannetty- 55

Shawn Stasiak- 38

Stasiak was tiring towards the end, which is the reason his in-ring performance was so much lower.

Jannetty is improving in performance skills.

Angle- Schaplowsky introduces new title

"Welcome everybody. I hope you are enjoying the show." *loud, loud pop from the crowd of 18, most of which are classmates of Schaplowsky. "I want to thank you all for coming, it means so much to me and the company. Ok, so I promised a secondary title in addition to the KCW Championship, and I have delivered. This championship will be defended at least, and I say at least twice a month. Which basically means, every other show will see this championship defended, and who knows? I may choose to have this championship defended every.. single.. Saturday. Whoever holds this championship must be ready to take on all comers at any time, and they may not know about it in advance. They may very well have to defend it on the spot!"

"Now, what is the name of this new title you ask? Well, for now I'm calling it the KCW Gauntlet Championship." *crowd murmurs* I can't think of a more perfect name for this championship, because let's be honest, whoever holds this title will basically be under the gauntlet. Bi-weekly, maybe even weekly title defenses. Defenses on the spot, only knowing 5 minutes in advance who your opponent will be. And.. once every 3 title defenses, the champion will face a complete mystery opponent. This is where you great fans come in. YOU, will help decide those mystery opponents. Every time a mystery defense is schedule to happen, I will be taking nominations for the champions mystery opponent, in advance. I'm encouraging.. no.. I'm expecting crowd participation. For now, the title will be defended next week in an 8 man battle royal. Now, we have a very exciting main event, so let's get to it!"

Rating: 30

The "Kimo vs. Bloom Feud' Storyline has advanced with this segment.

Angle- Postmatch Beatdown

After the match, Bloom took exception to the loss and beat down Kimo, leaving him bloodied as the show ended.

Rating: 17

The "Kimo vs. Bloom Feud' Storyline has advanced with this segment but lost heat. Oops!

Post-Show Notes

Well, I definitely messed up by having the Kimo/Bloom match and postmatch beatdown last. I should have had the Jannetty/Stasiak match last, but, our show rating did improve this week.

We increased our popularity in one region. Gee, I wonder what region that could be. Hmm, Mid-South maybe? Yep, we're up to

Ron Killings wants a better push. Right now I have him (actually autopush has him) as a Lower Midcarder. Unfortunately, he and NOSAWA are freelancers, which means they just like to sign 3 month deals and move on. He won't even think about extending his contract with us, which is an absolute shame because I had big plans for him. So, he's staying as a lower midcarder unless he chooses to re-sign.

I will be running the next KCW show tonight, and here is a preview of what to expect.

We have a lot of fallout from last weeks KCW show. As of now, only 2 matches are scheduled:

There will be a 10 man battle royal to determine the first ever KCW Gauntlet Champion. Immediately after the match, KCW owner Mike Schaplowsky will present the winner with the KCW Gauntlet Championship Belt.

Also, Matt Bloom will be taking on an opponent TBD. We are told that Kimo will be backstage, and he is looking for revenge from the savage beatdown that Bloom gave him after their match last week.

Also, we'll hear from Shawn Stasiak, who scored a tainted victory over Marty Jannetty last week. Chances are, we'll hear from Jannetty too.

There are rumors that KCW owner Mike Schaplowsky has a tryout match scheduled between 2 competitors who will be signed to 1 night contracts. They will be wrestling and competing for a full KCW contract. This match has not yet been confirmed however.

Stay tuned, as we'll crown a new champion, and we'll hear from some of the competitors involved in KCW's 2 main storylines!

Schaplowsky says that he won't have to wait long for his title defense, because he will defend the title next week against a mystery opponent. This infuriates Tenta, who claims that his first defense should be against a known opponent. Schaplowsky reminds Tenta of the stipulations regarding the title and warns that if he doesn't like it, he can hand over the title right now. Tenta storms off, ending the show.</p><p> </p><p>

Saturday, Week 4- January 1998

Northeast Magnet High School- Wichita, KS

Show Attendance: 23

Preshow Incident

Marty Jannetty no-showed a meeting with a road agent. Marty is one of the focal points of KCW, so I decided to slap him on the wrist. To my surprise, Marty didn't take it well, while John Tenta was happy with my decision. It makes sense as Marty and John are good friends.

Before the show, I decided to pull a major prank on Ron Killings. I figured with his easy going personality, he wouldn't mind. It backfired, and now Ron is pissed at me. Oh well, he's leaving in a few weeks anyways.

Show Recap

Scoot Andrews wrestled most of this match by himself as Kimo had trouble making it to the ring (Storyline purposes). When Kimo did make it to the ring, he made Andrews tag him. Big mistake. Bloom gave Kimo another beatdown in the ring and finished him off by pinfall at the 8:14 mark.

Rating: 33

NOSAWA and Bloom showed great chemistry working together.

Andrews and Kimo have absolutely zero chemistry as partners.

KCW Gauntlet Championship Match

John Tenta is in the ring, demanding to know who his opponent is. First, he must hear the announcement that he will be competing in a Bullrope Match tonight. Upon hearing this, Tenta begins kicking the ropes, when the lights go out. When they come back on, Tenta's opponent is revealed......

Manny Fernandez signed a one night only contract to come in and fight Tenta in the bullrope match, and what a match it was! Both men got to 3 corners several times, but in the end, Tenta survived his first test as KCW Gauntlet Champion when he finally hit that 4th turnbuckle in 11:12.

KCW Championship Match

This championship match came to an abrupt end at the 9:10 mark when Test got himself intentionally disqualified after kicking Killings where the sun don't shine. Would the show really end with Killings laying on the ground writhing in pain and Test smirking at how he managed to keep his title by getting himself DQed?

Rating: 41

In-Ring Performances:

Test- 41

Ron Killings- 40

Test is improving in Performance Skills.

Angle- The Boss has bad news for Test

"Not so fast." KCW Owner Mike Schaplowsky makes his way down to ringside and has a strong message for Test. "Test, you may think it's cool to defend your title that way, but I certainly don't, and these great fans, most of whom are my classmates, don't either. I demand integrity out of all my champions, so next week, Ron Killings, you'll get your rematch. Test, I hope you're ready for a fight, because next weeks match... it will be Falls Count Anywhere match!"

Schaplowsky heads backstage while Test is in the ring fuming, and the show ends with Killings nodding his head in approval.

<p>I've been reading and quite enjoying it for a while and will continue to do so. My only criticism would be that the match write-ups and the likes are a bit shorter than I personally like (my own dynasty probably shows that I'm a fan of stuff that's fairly text heavy) but that's very much a personal preference.</p><p> </p><p>

I like your booker notes that are interspersed throughout the piece but I do feel that you could be a bit stronger in presenting the kayfabe conflicts of your roster.</p><p> </p><p>

Just my two cent. As I said, I'm enjoying it, I do like the premise and I think it's worth continuing with. It can take time to get regular feedback for a dynasty. I'm up now to about 4 regulars contributors with others popping up from time to time. It took a while to get there though and there are other people who have told me before that they are reading but just don't get the time to comment. So my advice would be to keep it up. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

The biggest reason my shows are so short is because quite frankly, I'm not that great when it comes to writing or creative writing or anything, so I keep them simple and to the point. Every time I try to add more to any dynasty I'm doing, it fails miserably. I do understand your concerns behind it though, I'm sure the shortness and simpleness is costing me a few readers. </p><p> </p><p> I'll have to take a look at some of your dynasties to see how you do things, just to get an idea. If you got really adventurous you could always rewrite one of my previous shows and PM it to me so I can see how you would have wrote it. Not necessary though. Unfortunately, I'm not likely to change my format anytime soon because it's working for me, but if I can find something to fit it, I may make a few tweaks. I think I'm going to keep going with this as long as I can. I'm enjoying it so far. I can imagine the longer I stick with it, the more followers I'll get.</p>

  • 2 weeks later...

<p>For those of you wondering, this dynasty is not dead, just on a couple week hiatus. Last week I was battling some health issues, as well as trying to decide if I wanted to carry on with this dynasty report or try something else. I have decided to carry on with KCW, as I've put a lot of time into it, and well.. it did win out in the polls, so I want to give it a fair shot. </p><p> </p><p>

I will admit writing dynasty reports for this game is much tougher than I thought it would be, but I have also decided I am no longer doing it for anybody but myself. I will always appreciate all comments and questions that I get on it, but I am going to have to write it for myself if I am going to continue playing TEW and carrying on with Kansas Championship Wrestling. I know that people are reading at least, because I see I have a good number of views, so when I get more involved in this, if people respond, great. If not, then I know that I'll be putting out a great dynasty report for people to at least read.</p><p> </p><p>

So, the main reason I'm going on hiatus from this is simply because I am trying to do so many projects on the side with many other games (APBA baseball, DICE baseball, Fast Break College Basketball), as well as working 2 jobs and keeping up on schoolwork. I had a breakdown last week so I've decided that I need to slow down on everything, focus on school and work for a few weeks, then when things calm down, come back. </p><p> </p><p>

So, this dynasty isn't ending, but there won't be any updates until at least mid-October. Thanks for those of you reading and supporting me.</p>
