Fans who aren't overly familiar with Dick Murdoch's work probably don't realize just how good he is. However, after losing their titles their partnership quickly deteriorated, largely because of Kevin Sullivan's anger at his brother Dave. Following the arrival of Hulk Hogan, Dave Sullivan became the biggest "Hulkamaniac" in WCW, annoying Kevin to no end. When Dave's bumbling began costing Kevin his own goals, he lashed out at Dave with extreme "tough love." Cactus was having none of it, sticking up for his friend and following Kevin's victory over Dave at Fall Brawl he was finally pushed too far. The crowd at MSG was treated to a surprise when Jack wore the "crimson mask" after 10 minutes following a vicious chair shot from Sullivan! Ultimately the blood seemed to inspire Cactus to new levels of insanity and he went wild on Sullivan, pummeling him into the corner. The referee pulled Jack away and Kevin tried to pull out a pair of knucks he was hiding in his trunks, but Dave Sullivan grabbed his arm! Wright nailed a German Suplex on Hakushi that would have likely earned him a pinfall if not for Gary Hart distracting the referee. When Wright got the referee's attention back it was too late for the pinfall. The back and forth match went to the top rope where Wright tried for a super-plex at the 14:00 minute mark, but with Gary Hart's help (held the legs) Hakushi was able to reverse it into a powerbomb from the top to score the pinfall.

Winner: Hakushi

Match Rating: B-

</details>

<details>
Davey Boy Smith vs Giant Haystacks

Background
Upon his return to WCW, Davey Boy Smith was quickly embroiled in a feud with fellow Brit Steven Regal. This frequent taunting lets Liger get in comebacks including a top rope dropkick that rocks Vader and sends him tumbling out of the ring, a sick bump for a man his size to take! While getting to his feet from the outside he heats a suicide dive from Liger. The crowd is going nuts for the comeback, but it is quickly cut off by a stiff right hand from Vader, his power just too much for Liger. An irritated Commisioner Bockwinkel responded in Japan by setting this match, Austin vs "The Dragon" Tatsumi Fujinami, former NWA World Heavyweight Champion! Following a sturdy vertical suplex, Austin kicked out...barely...at 2 and got into an argument with Steamboat, claiming the count was fast. Steamboat just shook his head and Fujinami rolled up Austin! Another 2 count! This time Austin shouted that Fujinami held his shorts! His distraction allowed Fujinami to lock in a Dragon Sleeper! Austin muscled his way to the ropes and Steamboat broke the hold, but a furious Austin said he took too long to break it! Austin tried to leave the ring and take his belt, but Steamboat chased him up the rampway, grabbed him by the hair and forced him back into the ring! The bout continued, but while Steamboat wasn't looking Austin smacked Fujinami with the title and threw it out of the ring. Steamboat saw both men laying on the ground and was puzzled, unclear of what happened. Austin tried for a pinfall but Tatsumi kicked out. Unable to continue, Rude lost his place in WCW and was forced to retire. Flash forward to Fall Brawl 1994: Sting was set to face Ric Flair in a #1 Contender's Match for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. While cutting a promo backstage, a masked man attacked Sting's knee with a pipe! Hobbled, Sting attempted to compete but fell to Flair and lost his shot at the gold. It was ultimately revealed that the masked man was The Barbarian! He was hired by none other than Rick Rude himself to exact revenge on Sting. Rude revealed that while training to return to the ring he furthered injured himself and was now unable to walk. He blamed Sting for all of his misfortune in life and wanted Sting to know that pain. Savage and Flair had words during this sequence and an angry Savage smacked the side of the cage which made Flair jump back.
Fun read Just! Looking forward to watch Austin and Steamboat continue on and, of course, the Rude/Sting program is great stuff!

Also, I really dig the format/layout with the dropdown arrows, gifs (that Schiavone gif made my day), background description prematch, and quick, yet detailed summary of the matches and angles. I def. need to step up my HTML game to continue posting diaries in this forum!

Yeah man feel free. I borrowed from Mr. Creative's dynasty on here.

Man, Tony sure does look impressed! As do those very energetic Hulkamaniacs in the crowd!

Hall and Murdoch seemed like a very good “open the show” type of match. It got the crowd perfectly hot for later and also furthered the story well. The beatdown afterwards shows that this one is definitely moving to Starrcade.

About this time I realized that I didn’t take time to predict on Havoc. Damn. Well I can add IYH predictions in at the end of the post, at least.

Jack winning felt like a surprise, but only because the Sullivans are doing things with Hogan. You must have something pretty good figured for Cactus to see him winning over someone who for all intents and purposes is going into a program like that. But, Foley is pretty awesome, so I have no complaints.

So no super push for Alex Wright for sure after this one <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Hakushi and Gary are a really nice pairing though, it looks good together just like Hart and Muta did.

Damn, Davey! That’s a huge powerslam! So Regal vs. Smith at Starrcade? That should be a hit for sure.

You landed quite a lot of B ratings. The Tag title match, with these kinds of hosses involved, definitely had to lose control for most of the match. I am definitely down with Hercules getting some gold, he was one of my guilty pleasures when I was young. Push him well!

Vader going over is the right move here, just based on sheer size alone he was pretty much set to dominate Liger. Jushin put on a good show, but this was Vader’s night to shine.

Arn going over feels right; I don’t know how much more Tully has in the tank, I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t in time decline. Meanwhile, going by real life, “The Enforcer” was just about to start a pretty big year in 1995. This definitely feels like it’s going somewhere, I look forward to seeing what is happening.

Stunning Steve’s title challenge went about how it should have, there was no real surprise here. At least it wasn’t Jim Duggan.

That acting! Bobby Heenan was right! This feud just got about twenty thousand times hotter, which has to lead into something awesome at Starrcade. Barbarian is pretty cool in general, I think he’s very much overlooked in the history notes of wrestling. Possibly because he was never much of a big deal on his own, his biggest moments always came either with the Powers of Pain or in the Faces of Fear.

Man, Elizabeth may have gotten all the glory as the WWF’s “first lady” but Sherri had a rocking body. I’ve come to really appreciate Sherri in hindsight as a really awesome manager. The match ending was of no surprise, and neither was the faces coming out on top at the end of the show. Hogan vs. Sid should be pretty hot, even if match-wise it’s going to be a hot mess.

All in all, really nice Halloween Havoc. Something spooky still happened, when Rick Rude’s career got resurrected! But no Butchers is definitely a good thing.

DDP – I know Hive has a thing for Buddy, but Page has such a higher threshold for popularity. Just go with him!

Eddie Guerrero – Cheat 2 win, esse!

Houston Heat and Demolition – It really does feel weird to have Demolition in the world’s eye but no Road Warriors. The Heat hold up this match result completely.

Undertaker – Easy choice.

Jake Roberts – Unless you plan on pushing Tatanka hard, Jake goes over pretty easily. DDT! DDT! DDT!

Lex Luger – Lex picks up a big win, Bam Bam always looked like a beast (from the east) but tended to go down to the bigger stars every time.

Diesel and Shawn – Man, the Steiners would crap all over Nash and Shawn if this match had ever happened.

Owen Hart – Owen slips a win past Mr.P, but just barely.

Bret made several attempts to regain the title afterwards, but was foiled by interference by not only Neidhart, but a mysterious masked man who ruined Bret's last chance so far at Owen's title at a RAW taping wk. 1 of October. Refusing to give Bret more chances, Owen instead somewhat unwillingly accepted a challenge from Mr. Perfect, who had returned to WWF to side with his old friend, Bret. Fearing that either Neidhart or, perhaps especially, the mysterious masked man should interfer and cost Perfect the match, Bret was - to many protests by Owen - appointed as the special guest referee for the match.

Match: The fans were treated to a fantastic match here between two obviously skilled competitors. A vigilant Bret Hart made sure to keep his promise and prevent interference by Neidhart or the masked man (the latter who did not actually show up, contrary to what most would have expected), as he rebuffed all of Neidhart's attempts to join the fray. This, however, had the unfortunate side-effect of costing Perfect the match as well, as Bret failed to count a pinfall attempt after a well-executed Perfect Plex in time, due to being busy kicking Neidhart's ass - with Owen narrowly escaping at the 2 count. As a frustrated Perfect was complaining to Bret, Owen took advantage of the situation and rolled up Perfect for a flash pinfall, with Bret begrudgingly having to count it - being the great and fair sportsman that he is.

Winner, and still champion: Owen Hart

Length: 21:27

Rating: A

Show rating: A
