Jerry Lawler defeated Doink The Clown (Rating: C-)

Jake Roberts Is Interviewed By Vince McMahon (Rating: B-)

Vince McMahon is pleased to present a re-debut in the WWF: Jake "The Snake" Roberts! Exciting! Roberts talks about being pleased to be back. But he's determined to seek redemption, to prove himself...

Diesel defeated Tatanka to retain the WWF Intercontinental Championship title (Rating: B-)

Shawn Michaels did much to interfer against Tatanka when the ref wasn't looking, so Luger came out to even the odds and took out Michaels. Tatanka however, mistrusting Luger, demanded that he left ringside. While the two were arguing, Diesel exploited the situation and hit Tatanka while distracted, finishing him off with a Jackknife Powerbomb.

Bret Hart Rants About Owen Hart (Rating: B)

Randy Savage defeated Yokozuna (Rating: B-)

At one point in the match, the lights flickered for a moment and a "dong" was heard. Yokozuna looked confused and distracted, obviously expecting an outside attack. He should rather have focused on Savage though, who used the opportunity to take down Yokozuna and place him for a Divind Elbow Drop.

Savage And Diesel Argue (Rating: A)

After the match, Diesel slowly walked down to the ring. Savage and him got in each other's faces, clearly not liking each other, and after a back-and-forth exchange, the two of them agree to a Intercontinental Championship match at SummerSlam!

- This week saw the first episode of RAW with the new 2 hour format. A fairly good showing, fans across all continents will be pleased to be getting twice the amount of action from the #1 most popular wrestling show in the world.

- Vince McMahon has apparantly been using his time off TV working out, as his return to TV saw him sporting a more toned physique. Let's hope he'll be able to keep the likes of Sunny and Alundra Blayze at bay.

- We have managed to aquire pictures of both the new WWF Global Cruiserweight Cup trophy as well as the WWF Cruiserweight Championship belt. See the magnificent photos below:

Aren't those some sleek designs? It's hard to imagine anyone *not* wanting to win these accolades.

- Speaking of the WWF Global Cruiserweight Cup, we have through our contacts at the Titans Towers managed to get our hands on quite a scoop, the official list of participants in the tournament:

1-2-3 Kid

Chris Benoit

Christopher Daniels

Dean Malenko

Doug Williams

Eddie Guerrero

Hayabusa

Koji Kanemoto

Marcus Bagwell

Mil Mascaras

Psicosis

Rey Mysterio

Robbie Brookside

Sabu

The Great Sasuke

The Saint

It's pretty safe to say that this is the current cream of the crop in terms of technical, fast-paced high flying wrestlers throughout the world. With a line-up like this, the tournament could quite possibly be even more exciting than the Super J Cup held earlier this year. Chris Benoit, who's also participating in this tournament, won that event as the masked Wild Pegasus. A total of 5 participants from the Super J Cup will be entering this tournament.

Week 2, August 1994

News and Tidbits from WCW

-From overseas we get word that the Euro Cup tournament is entering it's final stages. The surprise entrant Dynamite Kid has reached the semi-finals along with Lord Steven Regal, Davey Boy Smith and Tony St. Clair. The semi-finals will occur in Germany later this week and then the finals will air at WCW's Battlestars event on Friday.

-A couple of missteps from WCW's production team; the WCW Battlestars event will take place in England but will not air anywhere in the UK due to a broadcasting dispute with TNT-UK.

-The Battlestars event will air via tape delay everywhere outside of Europe on Sunday, Week 3 of August.

-Rikki Nelson was backstage at the latest WCW Saturday Night tapings but was not used at the event.

Rumor Mill

-There is a lot of excitement in WCW about the World in Japan event, but final contracts have not been signed. There is talk about bring in names such as Stan Hansen, The Great Muta and even Antonio Inoki as potential opponents for Hulk Hogan. Until the dotted line is signed, nothing is official however.

-WCW is eyeing some talent in the WWF that are looking for a fresh start in the better promotion.

-Expect to see a new tagline debut with WCW soon: "Where the big boys play"

-Dusty Rhodes is returning to the ring, but that's apparently not what has him happy as a pig at a trough these days. Still trying to find out what's going on there.

-Word is that Arn Anderson is nearly recovered from the assault he took at the hands of the Stud Stable a few weeks ago. Will be interesting to see what he does when he gets back!

-There is no truth to the rumor that WCW contacted Bret Hart about jumping ship with the WWF title. WCW management isn't very high on the Hitman.

Around the World

-Have to admit that the new WWF tournament cup and title belt look very nice. They must have hired a great designer for those.

To keep with realism, I generally book guys in UK/Europe as being "on tour" so they don't appear at my American tv tapings in the same week. So like Hogan touring Germany means he won't be on Saturday Night unless I do a Saturday Night taping as part of the tour.</p>

You can't possibly be contemplating Dynamite vs Davey. There just aren't enough local jobbers to work as security guards! Heck, you might even need to have one semi-final in Munich and the other in Leipzig...Austria even. Interesting choice on St Clair too, another that doesn't look out of place in the diary.</p>

Dynamite was giving nothing to Davey Boy, no-selling almost all of his offense and slapping and using frequent takedowns. Frequent jeering occurred from the audience. Giant Haystacks was accompanied by Bobby Heenan for this contest.</p><p> </p><p> Haystacks got a ton of offense in on Hogan was a babyface in peril for the majority of the match. Haystacks dropped several massive elbows onto the ribcage of Hogan causing an injury that Hogan sold for the duration of the encounter. Hogan made a comeback attempt after several minutes that came to a screeching halt when a bodyslam attempt failed and the massive Haystacks crashed down on Hogan, reminiscent of his match with Andre the Giant! Haystacks drops one and then struggles to get to his feet. He does and goes for another one but Hogan moves! Schiavone loses his mind as Hulk Hogan hulks up while Haystacks struggles to his feet. The two men meet and Hogan bodyslams the monster!</p><p> </p><p> <em>Tony: I don't believe it! Was stunned to hear that WCW had even convinced Dynamite to appear at the same event with Davey Boy, let alone agree to work with him in the ring. Now we know why.<p> </p><p> According to well placed sources in both WCW and ASW, WCW management had worked out an agreement with Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid that the finals match was supposed to end in a "double pin" that ASW promoters would say made Dynamite the winner and WCW would say made Davey Boy the winner. This compromise came together after Dynamite Kid refused to job to Davey Boy Smith, enraging WCW officials who thought they had that in agreement before they booked him in the tournament. Clearly that is not what happened. </p><p> </p><p> Why the change? Depends on who you believe. Dynamite and ASW claim the fix was in all along as apparently Mickey Jay was supposed to be the referee for the bout and was suddenly replaced with Nick Patrick at the last minute. Perhaps the more affable Mickey Jay wasn't willing to participate? WCW executives deny that there was any agreement in the first place, but added that if there WERE an agreement, Dynamite's "unprofessional" shooting on Davey Boy to open the match may have led to an audible. </p><p> </p><p> There's no doubt that Dynamite wasn't working a script in what was honestly a disappointing match work-rate wise. Dynamite landed several stiff shots and appeared to hurt Davey Boy before a wild punch from Davey Boy broke Dynamite's nose. It got back on track for a few minutes there before the sudden screwjob ending. </p><p> </p><p> We are hearing that All Star Wrestling is pursuing a breach of contract action with WCW and forbidding talent from working with the promotion going forward. How that will play out is anyone's guess though as WCW has the leverage of pressing charges against Dynamite Kid for legit punching Nick Patrick at the conclusion of the bout. In an odd bit of connected news, RWS made a public spectacle and declared war on WCW in the dirt sheets despite not being negatively impacted in anyway. </p><p> </p><p> No matter what, everyone lost at Battlestars and WCW will no doubt drop the tournament going forward. A sad day for everyone involved.</p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42604" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>Dynamite Kid now hates Nick Patrick<p> Dynamite Kid now hates Eric Bischoff</p><p> Dan Spivey now hates Nick Patrick</p><p> Dan Spivey now hates Eric Bischoff</p><p> RWS declares war on WCW</p></div></blockquote>

- After weeks of neglecting the fact that they have female wrestlers on the roster, WWF put on a(nother) title match between current champion Blayze and Vachon at this week's RAW. Furthermore, they are reported to having sent out offers to several top American female performers within the last week. Perhaps we can expect to see them rebuild the division?</p><p> </p><p>

- We have a very special treat for you this week, as we celebrate the 1-year anniversary of one of the most special moments in professional wrestling this decade:</p><p> </p><p>

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="<a href="https://www.youtube.com/embed/p7Q4EVpIFIk" rel="external nofollow">https://www.youtube.com/embed/p7Q4EVpIFIk"</a> frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></p><p> </p><p>

- Reports are suggesting that Greg Valentine is coming back to WWF. Though our sources at the Titan Towers refuse to comment on the rumors that this move is to placate Bret Hart, who has for a while now been upset with no longer being pushed as the company's figurehead.</p><p> </p><p>

- Raymond Rougeau was seen backstage at this week's RAW. He's not expected to sign with the promotion however, and was only there to catch up with old friends and colleagues.</p><p> </p><p>

- There was a radio interview with former WCW wrestler 2 Cold Scorpio a while back that was pretty interesting. Scorpio said that at this stage, Pez Whatley was a better wrestler than Ric Flair and that the older wrestlers in WCW were holding the younger wrestlers back, particularly when it comes to them doing hot moves that the older wrestlers can't do. He blamed the office for him not doing hot moves at house shows and praised Steve Austin's work, saying he was being used to carry Brian Pillman.</p>

<p>I'm guessing it is because Bret's charisma is too low? Along with probably a lower SQ than several of the people on your roster? Taker isn't as good an option as you'd think either based on the criteria of Figureheads in TEW. </p><p> </p><p>

Yeah, you don't have too many good options now that I think about it, short of turning HBK face and pushing him to the moon. Kind of accurate since Austin had to come in and save Vince's bacon, but I doubt that's going to happen in this anytime soon.</p>
