- There has been a lot of talk recently that The Midnight Males, Marcus Bagwell and Christopher Daniels, are lined up to be "the new Rockers". One could certainly see the similiarities, given their looks and mannerisms - not to mention the fact that The Rockers were called The Midnight Rockers before coming to WWF. But if they are indeed the new Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty, then the question remains: which of the two is more likely to the the Shawn Michaels of the group and become a big singles star in the future...?

- WWF has In Your House 2 later this month. The name for it this time will reportedly be Heartbreak Madness.

- Lots of talk that WCW plans to resurrect the "Four Horsemen" gimmick yet again. Talk about beating a dead horse...

- Eddie Guerrero won the prestigeous new WWF Global Cruiserweight Cup while also winning the new WWF Cruiserweight Championship in what was a very exciting show. It's expected that WWF will be showcasing a lot more cruiserweight action going forward, after the success of the show.

- Missy Hyatt did a fun and very candid interview recently. Among other goodies, she talked about being on a first-class airplane with Ric Flair back in the NWA days. Flair went to the bathroom, took off all his clothes except his dress shoes and socks, put on the World Title belt and his robe, and strutted down the aisle, turned around, opened his robe, and went "Whooo!". She added that Flair needs to wear a bra when he wrestles.

Week 2, September 1994

News and Tidbits from WCW

-Big news in WCW as Tully Blanchard turned heel and betrayed Arn Anderson at this week's Saturday Night taping.

-At that same taping, Dick Murdoch was once again reprimanded for showing up impaired. Arn Anderson was said to be livid about the situation after Murdoch sandbagged him early on in their match.

-Ricky Steamboat is genuinely dealing with a back injury. Steamboat is trying to work through the injury leading up to his big rematch with Austin at Fall Brawl.

-WCW management is impressed already with The Jurassic Powers who have shown a strong connection to the audience right out of the gate.

-Despite the booked Sting vs Ric Flair match, WCW officials have indicated that the War Games match WILL be the main event.

-The WCW booking team sees a future World Champion in Hakushi. Look for a strong push there.

-WCW is excited to announce the signings of Rick Martel and Tom Prichard and Jimmy Del Ray, known as The Heavenly Bodies. Expect these new signings to debut soon.

-Arn Anderson has signed a 2 year contract extension with WCW. Management was determined to keep the Enforcer under contract.

-Mr. T will continue his sporadic working relationship with the company through at least the end of the year.

-The Can-Am Express have signed contract with WCW, but no word on when they will start.

-Jim Duggan has signed 1 year contract extension with WCW.

-Horace Boulder has signed a short term contract with WCW at the behest of his uncle Hulk Hogan.

Rumor Mill

-Dusty Rhodes told the Saturday Night audience not to worry when the cameras started rolling, saying he had a plan for War Games. Is this FINALLY what has been making him so happy lately?

-A singles push for Dick Murdoch? WCW management sees potential there.

-WCW has money to burn apparently and is ready to do so. I was told to expect big news in the coming weeks regarding some important signings.

-You haven't seen them on tv lately, but young workers like Chris Candido, Sudden Impact, Scotty Riggs and others have been regularly working the house show circuit and pre-shows for tapings to get acclimated to WCW audiences.

- WWF agents are eager to see Mr. Perfect in action for the first time since his back injury. Hopes are that he has healed enough to be featured as a full-time in-ring performer, likely to receive a big push should he prove to still have what it takes.

- Another wrestler WWF management is supposedly very high on is Kevin Nash aka Diesel. This might be why he only went a couple of days without a title after losing the Intercontinental Championship to Randy Savage in what has been perceived as an extremely surprising move. Most had expected Razor Ramon to win it back upon his return to the company.

- Talk persists about Hulk Hogan signing a several year long deal of some sort with WCW. Current rumours have the deal being for sporadic appearances (with the logic no doubt being that he'll pop big houses if used once in a while) over that time, with Hogan being phased out as the key performer in the company that every announcer has to mention four times each minute. Hogan's series, "Thunder in Paradise," was renewed for 22 new episodes next season, so the company does have to figure out a direction based on severe schedule restrictions for Hogan for a sizeable chunk of the year. There's talk that Hogan sees limited pro-wrestling exposure as a valuable tool to keep his celebrity status and use that to launch himself into other television and film ventures.

- Here's an interesting piece on another current WCW wrestler, Sting: Back in the days when Sting was wrestling in the UWF, fellow WCW wrestler Dick Slater was dating Dark Journey. She hooked up with Sting, who decided to have a little private "dark journey" himself, behind Slater's back, but Slater found out about it and threatened to kill Sting. One day, Slater showed up in the locker room looking for Sting and found him putting on his facepaint. Slater gave him a pretty good beat down where Sting didn't fight back, knowing that he deserved it and not wanting to screw up his reputation by making any more trouble with Slater. After Slater finished with him, Sting got up, put on his facepaint, covering up the cuts and bruises, and went out and wrestled. Slater was fired from the UWF the next day.

- Speaking of Sting, the former franchise of WCW is rumored to be unhappy with being relegated to the second row after Hulk Hogan was brought in. Reportedly, Sting has even contacted and met with Vince McMahon - although this cannot be confirmed, and shall at this point be considered hearsay.
