Team Rhodes - Putting the feud to rest in War Games.

Ric Flair - Flair has to continue looking strong to stay hot against Hogan, and Sting is the sacrificial lamb for that slaughter.

Ricky Steamboat - Steamer gets one last nice run while Austin moves on to bigger things.

Doom - JP are really awesome, but can they defeat the team of DOOM?!?

Vader - Vader continues building up to face Hogan after he and Flair are done.

Kevin Sullivan - Evad falls down the line.

Hakushi - You did mention he's on the fast track up, so a win over Brian puts him there.

Lord Regal - A big win for "his Lordship".

Alex Wright - Definitely way more upside than this Levesque kid!

Pretty sure you had told me who it was, so I'll refrain from answering the first bonus.

No titles change hands

The surprise is that this will be a hit show even without Hulk Hogan in a match!

Davey Boy Smith comes to the ring to a decent ovation, but Texas is clearly not his home turf either.

Regal is clearly disgusted by Davey Boy’s face reaction, annoyed as ever that fans cheer for the “good guys.” After the introductions, we get a strong babyface control segment to start the match with Davey Boy regularly overpowering Regal to the delight of the audience. Davey Boy caps the stretch off by gorilla press slamming Regal for a 2 count leading to Regal rolling out of the ring to re-group. He sells the pain to his back like only Regal can and then gets into an argument with a particularly cowboy looking fellow at ringside. Davey Boy slides out of the ring and rolls Regal back in. When Davey Boy gets in the ring Regal stops his advances and seems to be insulting him for using power moves. Davey Boy laughs and seems to agree to whatever Regal was proposing.

It turns out Regal wanted this to get a little more technical. The two men engage in a technical showpiece for several minutes with neither man gaining the clear advantage. Regal then uses a thumb to the eye to slowdown Davey Boy and put him in an abdominal stretch, using the ropes for leverage when the referee doesn’t look. After referee Mark Curtis catches Regal using the ropes he forces Regal to break the hold. Regal tries for a sanp suplex, but Davey Boy blocks it and overpowers Regal dropping him with a vertical suplex of his own!

Davey Boy gets back to his feet and takes control with a series of power moves. The crowd begins to stir as Davey Boy sets up Regal and drops him with a running powerslam! The crowd pops, but Davey Boy gets to his feet and stares down the rampway.

http://i.imgur.com/NcK05iy.jpg

Tony: It’s Giant Haystacks! What in the world is he doing here??

Davey Boy is distracted as Haystacks is making the “I will break you motion” with his hands. Davey Boy calls him to the ring and Haystacks appears to oblige when out of nowhere Regal rolls up Davey Boy for the 1…2…3!

Winner: …and still WCW World Television Champion, Lord Steven Regal!

Match Rating: B-

Following the match, Giant Haystacks climbs into the ring as Davey shakes his head in disbelief. The two men come face to face and Haystacks laughs in Davey Boy’s face as Regal slides out of the ring and heads up the rampway with his title. Haystacks pats Davey Boy on the chest and then leaves the ring with no punches throws.

Segment Rating: B

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b352/justtxyank/Diary/FallBrawl/JPLvAlexWright.jpg

Jean-Paul Levesque

VS

Alex Wright

This match came together seemingly out of nowhere after the two men argued during the pre-show version of WCW’s Main Event broadcast. Alex Wright is undefeated in WCW and is starting to get decent crowd reactions. Jean-Paul is certainly capable of generating heat, but something about him just isn’t clicking with the crowd.

In a relatively short match designed to highlight both men’s technical prowess, Alex Wright scored the pinfall around the 9 minute mark with a German Suplex.

Winner: Alex Wright

Match Rating: B

http://i.imgur.com/EGschZS.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/dGjB2d2.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/IiJ0k1G.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/KnRCSsK.jpg

We cut backstage where Gene Okerlund has entered the Team Rhodes locker room. Gene wants to know who the 5th man is tonight for War Games.

In a lengthy, southern promo about everything under the sun, Dusty Rhodes explains the virtues of family and the utter contempt he has for Col. Robert Parker and his chicken liver goons.

Dustin and Arn each jump in for promos of their own, with Arn ready to teach Tully a lesson that’s been coming for 10 years. We hear a toilet flush and the restroom opens. Gene gets excited thinking we are about to meet the 5th man, but it’s just Larry Zbyszko! Dusty tells Gene it’s time to go as another door on the other side of the lockerooom begins to open…

Segment Rating: B

http://i.imgur.com/fDCRtfg.jpg

Brian Pillman

VS

Hakushi w/ Gary Hart

Brian Pillman gets a strong face reaction from the crowd in Texas and Tony Schiavone goes on and on about Pillman being the future of the company. Hakushi gets a good heel reaction, no doubt buoyed by Gary Hart’s heat in Texas, something Ventura points out. (It was lost on Tony.)

The match is a fast paced back and forth with several high spots. Gary Hart interfered multiple times, pulling Brian Pillman’s hair to stop a rope run, tripping him to stop another rope run and pushing him off the top rope during a splash attempt. After the last interference, Pillman lost his temper and chased Gary Hart outside the ring. This set up a high spot for the crowd when Hakushi hit a suicide dive over the top rope onto Pillman!

Hakushi took control in the ring and tried slowing it down with leg work on Pillman, particularly an effective half crab that he held for more than a minute. The crowd got behind Pillman though and he started firing back despite hobbling on the leg. He even managed to get a good spinning lariat in on Gary Hart to the crowd’s delight.

Eventually, Pillman proved too much for Hakushi, pinning him at the 14:54 mark with a missle dropkick off the top rope.

Winner: Brian Pillman

Match Rating: C+

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b352/justtxyank/Diary/FallBrawl/Sullivans.jpg

Dave Sullivan

VS

Kevin Sullivan

Tony Schiavone puts this match over like the main event. Brother vs brother! Jesse points out that since they are brothers this is probably something Kevin Sullivan has been waiting for 20 years to do!

The match is essentially a squash for the first five minutes with Kevin Sullivan mercilessly beating down on his brother Dave. Dave tries to a “Hulk-Up” routine at around the five minute mark which aggravates Kevin Sullivan to no end and leads to him unleashing a furious beat down. Kevin Sullivan finishes Dave off with a pile driver at around 7 minutes to earn the victory.

Winner: Kevin Sullivan

Match Rating: C

Following the match, Dave Sullivan gets to his feet while his brother leaves the ring and does the Hulk Hogan audience ear cup motions which gets a decent pop. An engraged Kevin slides back into the ring and starts beating down his brother some more! The crowd pops when Cactus Jack charges the ring and lands a series of stiff right hands on Kevin Sullivan and then throws him over the top rope crashing to the concrete. Kevin walks up the rampway holding his back, screaming at Cactus Jack.

Segment Rating: C

We jump backstage where Sting is standing with Gene Okerlund, running his hands together and smiling.

Gene: Sting, tonight the fans are going to get a real treat as you take on Ric Flair. What are your thoughts?

Sting: Well Gene, everyone knows that there is a lot of history between the Nature Boy and the Stinger. Tonight will be another chapter in that book and the ending will be the same as it was when I beat Ric Flair for my first world title. Tonight I’m going to…OOF!

Gene: What in the world!????

http://i.imgur.com/64U2iMm.jpg

A large man, easily recognized as The Barbarian appears out of nowhere in a leather jack and strikes Sting right on the knee with a lead pipe! Sting screams out in pain as The Barbarian runs off. Security and medics are tending to Sting who is in pure agony as we jump back to Tony and Jesse.

Tony: My goodness! That was the Barbarian! What in the world is he doing here?

Jesse: Obviously he has a problem with Sting Schiavone!

Tony: That attack was brutal! Stick with us fans and we’ll keep you updated. I’m not sure how Sting will be able to compete tonight!

Segment Rating: A

http://i.imgur.com/KYNPgpl.jpg

Vader w/Harley Race

VS

The Guardian Angel

This is yet another match in the physical series that has taken place between these two, and it did not disappoint. “Wild Brawl” is the only way to describe the physical, stiff action that the fans were treated to. The crowd is clearly behind The Guardian Angel, but Vader has more heat than probably any heel in the company not named Flair.

Schiavone spent most of the match talking about Sting’s knee which aggravated Jesse Ventura. The Guardian Angel popped the crowd big when he managed to take Vader down with a diving clothesline from the top rope! It wouldn’t be enough however as Vader kicked out of a pin attempt. The Guardian Angel whipped Vader to the ropes and tired for a powerslam, but failed to pick Vader up. Vader clapped Angel’s ears and gained control. A few minutes later it was a powerbomb followed by a Vader Bomb for the pinfall.

Winner: Vader

Match Rating: B

Following the match, Harley Race climbed into the ring with a roaring Vader and got on the microphone.

Harley Race: Listen up you backward cowboy hillbillies! Vader has something to say. Tell them Vader! Tell them now. Tell Nick Bockwinkel what you want. Tell them what they need to feed you! Tell them who your next victim is!

Race puts the microphone up to Vader who says just one word:

Vader: Hogan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The crowd erupts as Vader roars the name and then just…roars.

Segment Rating: B+

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b352/justtxyank/Diary/FallBrawl/TagTitle.jpg

WCW Tag Team Championship

Doom ©

VS

The Jurassic Powers

This was a traditional power match between two teams featuring strong power based workers. There wasn’t much selling shown at all, but the crowd enjoyed it none the less.

Halfway through the match, we went to a split screen where Gene Okerlund was standing by with Commissioner Bockwinkel who informed the audience that Sting WOULD still wrestle tonight despite being advised by doctors to sit it out!

Back in the ring, Woman and Teddy Long were involved in a screaming match at ringside that led to Woman slapping the shot out of Teddy Long repeatedly. To stop the attack, Ron Simmons reached through the ropes and grabbed Woman by the hair! The crowd was erupting but Ron’s attention on Woman allowed Scott Norton to nail him with an axe handle on the back to take control. Norton and Ron brawled and then each tagged their partners. Simmons and Reed reversed a double irish whip attempt into one of their own, slamming Hercules and Scott Norton into each other causing Hercules to stumble out of the ring. Reed and Simmons double teamed Norton and nailed him with a Double Dominator! Simmons went for the cover and at the 2 count got kicked in the back of the head by Woman to earn the DQ!

Winner: …via disqualification, and still WCW World Tag Team Champions, Doom!

Match Rating: B

http://i.imgur.com/zhogEMS.jpg

WCW United States Championship

Steve Austin ©

vs

Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat

Following a feud highlight package, Steve Austin made his way to the ring to a chorus of boos. He stood in the ring with his United States title awaiting Ricky Steamboat. After a few moments of silence, Nick Bockwinkel made his way to the ring with Steamboat following closely behind in street clothes.

Bockwinkel: Fans, if I may have your attention for a moment. Tonight’s scheduled United States Championship bout unfortunately must be cancelled. I have been informed…well…Ricky Steamboat, I’ll let you tell them.

Steamboat: Thank you commissioner. This is a difficult moment for me, but as a man you can only do so much. A few weeks back I was told by doctors that I had suffered a serious injury to my back, and last night while trying desperately to get ready for this match tonight, I felt something pull. Today the doctor told me he wouldn’t clear me to wrestle. Unfortunately I cannot get into the ring without risking far worse injury.

The crowd boos and Schiavone and Jesse are in shock.

Bockwinkel: Therefore I am left with no choice but to cancel the United States title match. Austin, we have no suitable opponent for you tonight, and it would be unfair to force you to take on a challenger without proper notice, so you have the night off. However, I assure the fans that the United States title WILL be defended at Halloween Havoc against a world class opponent to be announced at the proper time.

Austin: Wait just a minute. Let me get this straight. He’s too hurt to climb in the ring with me? He’s…done? Retired? Finished for good? Ha! I really am the Dragon Slayer!

Steamboat: Now hold on, I didn’t say I was retiring. I am going to do everything in my power to get this back rehabbed and get back in this ring.

Austin: Whoa whoa whoa! We have a scheduled re-match tonight. That’s what I agreed to. I know the rules Bockwinkel. If Steamboat fails to perform tonight, he loses the right to challenge me again. Either we ring that bell right now, or little Ricky never gets another shot at my gold.

Bockwinkel: Rick, I’m sorry, but Steve is right. This is a contractually obligated match tonight. Failure to participate will be seen as you forfeiting your re-match clause and by WCW rules and regulations, you are unable to demand a title shot as long as the current champion holds the title.

The crowd is booing at this point, drowning out almost everything.

Steamboat: I guess I don’t have a choice then. If this is it, it’s been a heck of a ride.

Steamboat drops the microphone and leaves the arena while Austin laughs maniacally.

Segment rating: A

http://i.imgur.com/erZT8ju.jpg

Ric Flair

VS

Sting

We see a replay of the attack on Sting’s knee by The Barbarian earlier in the show. Tony tells us that they have been unable to locate The Barbarian since the attack, but the audience should be rest assured that he is NOT in the building. Jesse doesn’t know what type of condition Sting’s knee could possibly be in at this point.

During the introduction of Flair, Ventura reminds us of the stipulation that should Flair win the match tonight, he would earn the right to challenge Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Title at Halloween Havoc. This of course leads to the lightbulb moment for Tony Schiavone; It was Ric Flair who paid The Barbarian! Ventura chastises Schiavone indignantly for even speculating, but points out that IF Flair did it, it was smart. Tony says it was probably Heenan’s idea!

During Sting’s entrance he is clearly hobbled and in pain just walking up the rampway. Schiavone calls him heroic for even attempting to wrestle tonight. Jesse calls him stupid and says Hulk Hogan should be ashamed of himself for leaving Sting to fight his battles!

Once the match starts, we get an unusual Sting/Flair encounter in that Sting has very limited offense. Flair is hyper-aggressive with his offense, something not common between these two. Sting basically only gets momentary flurries of offense that excite the crowd but are quickly squelched by Flair’s cheap tricks.

After about 8 minutes of this back and forth, Flair put Sting in the figure four. Sting is screaming agony as Flair looks on with a seditious anger. The crowd gets behind Sting firmly and he gives them the old favorite; he reversed the figure four! Tony loses his mind at the heroism and the guts of Sting while Ventura tells Tony to stop using that word. Flair gets to the ropes and Sting releases the hold. Flair gets to his feet and starts stomping Sting’s knee repeatedly. Sting tries to fight back but can’t get to his feet, his knee falling apart.

The crowd boos as Commissioner Bockwinkel makes his way down to the ring as Flair begins to put Sting in another figure four. This one promises to be a good old fashioned southern brawl. It’s time for War Games! Tony Schiavone walks us through the rules while a graphic is displayed for the visually inclined:

http://i.imgur.com/qGTmd4M.jpg

It’s simple: The only way to win is by forcing the other team to quit. There can be no winner until all 10 men have entered the cage. The official head referee, Nick Patrick, has sole discretion to call for the bell. We will start with 1 representative of each team and then add an additional member of alternating teams each 4 minutes until all 10 men have entered. By virtue of winning a coin toss, The Stud Stable will have the numbers advantage and will be the first team to send out their next member. Let’s go!

All five members of the Stud Stable come to the ring together, accompanied by Col. Robert Parker and his bodyguard Meng. The crowd boos them viciously, the Stud Stable a heat machine down south. The crowd erupts when Dusty Rhodes leads Team Rhodes out from the back…but only four.

Tony: There’s only four of them Jesse. Where’s the fifth man?

Jesse: I knew it Schiavone! There is no fifth man! Dusty couldn’t find someone after all!

Tony: This is a disaster for Team Rhodes!

Despite the frantic anaylsis of Tony Schiavone, Team Rhodes seems calm, determined. The referee goes over the rules with both teams and then calls for each team to send their man into the cage. Bunkhouse Buck will start for The Stud Stable and Dustin Rhodes for Team Rhodes. The bell rings and War Games begins!

Dustin Rhodes and Buck start off on fire, brawling throughout the cage as the clock ticks away. Dustin Rhodes is bringing his A game and easily controlling the action to the delight of his father and teammates. As the timer counts down, Tully Blanchard is named as the official next member and enters the cage at the bell.

Tony: Things are going to get interesting now.

Jesse: This is where it gets rough Schiavone. 2 on 1 for 4 minutes!

Tully is met as soon as he enters the cage by Dustin Rhodes and the two men start brawling. Rhodes looks to take control when he is hit from behind by Buck and the double team begins. Robert Parker is a proud manager, pulling his jacket forward and smirking as Tully and Buck deliver a double team whoopin to Dustin Rhodes. Rhodes has a spark go off and takes out both men with a double clothesline which sends his father into a jump for joy. The joy wears off quickly though when Dustin gets hit with a low blow by Tully as he tries to get him to his feet and the double team begins again. The buzzer rings and the numbers are about to even up.

Tony: There goes Arn Anderson into the cage! Go get him Arn!

Arn slides into the ring and catches a charging Buck with a spinebuster! He gets to his feet and he and Tully face off. A lot of jawing back and forth, this is a matchup the crowd wants to see. Tully turns away for a moment and then slaps Arn! Arn loses his temper and takes down Tully! He’s wailing away on his former partner while Dustin Rhodes cuts off Buck. It’s an all out brawl in the ring with Team Rhodes in clear control. The buzzer counts down again…

Jesse: Time for the Funker!

Terry Funk climbs into the cage next and goes right after Dustin Rhodes. He and Buck double team Rhodes while Tully and Arn are fighting to a stalemate. Dustin is taking a serious beating at this point with Funk using his belt to whip Dustin. At ringside Dusty Rhodes is losing his mind. With Dustin seemingly under control, Buck moves over to help Tully get control of Arn. As the clock winds down, Dustin catches Terry Funk’s belt and starts to fire back!

Tony: Larry Zbsyszko into the cage!

Larry rushes into the cage to see Dustin Rhodes taking control of Terry Funk. Larry hits Buck with an ax handle and then arm drags Tully. With the numbers even now, the fighting evens out. Mayhem is taking place in the cage with Funk paired off with Dustin, Larry with Tully and Arn with Buck as the clock counts down once more…

Into the cage comes Captain Redneck, Dick Murdoch! Murdoch is a ball of fire and has snuck a cattle brander into the cage! He uses it to take out Arn and then hits each member of Team Rhodes one by one, setting up a long 4 minutes of Stud Stable control as we count down to the last member standing at ringside…

Tony: Here we go Jesse! Here comes The American Dream!

The crowd pops when the buzzer hits zero and Dusty Rhodes climbs into the cage. He enters the proverbial lion’s den as The Stud Stable has the rest of Team Rhodes under control. One by one the Studs all charge at Dusty and catch elbows to the head, which the crowd eats up. Tony points out that Dusty and Murdoch were partners years ago. It’s an awkward aside.

The focus on Dusty lets the rest of Team Rhodes get back into the match. Dustin and Dusty hit a double back body drop on Terry Funk. Robert Parker is furious at ringside as the faces have a clear edge again now that the numbers are even.

The timer begins to countdown once more and Parker sends Dick Slater into the cage!

Slater enters and catches a spine buster from Arn right away! Col. Robert Parker throws his hat off, frustrated that the advantage appears blown already. Terry Funk now has the cattle brand and uses it to take out Arn Anderson. Funk tries to hit Dusty with the brand but Dusty blocks it and then shimmies for a moment before knocking Funk down. The crowd pops as Dusty waives the branding iron around. Buck charges him and gets a shot to the head! The crowd is in a frenzy as the clock begins winding down, but it turns to boos when Murdoch hits Dusty with a low blow and then a shot from the branding iron. Murdoch tosses the iron to Slater who uses it to take out Larry Zbyszko and then Tully who uses it to take out Dustin.

All of the faces are now down in the ring and being stomped on. Suddenly, Meng grabs referee Nick Patrick and slams him into the cage! He gets the keys and hands them to Col. Robert Parker who begins unlocking the cage as we count down from 10 seconds…

10…

9…

8…

7…

6…

5…

Tony: Who’s it going to be Jesse?

4…

Jesse: Is there even going to be someone?

3…

Parker now has the cage door unlocked…

2…

1…

…the crowd waits silently as Meng walks towards the entrance ramp and Parker stands still the buzzer. We hear some deep bass play and then the crowd erupts…

http://i.imgur.com/CqrmWZx.jpg

Tony: Oh my goodness! It’s Scott Hall! What is he doing here??? He’s the fifth man!

Scott Hall struts towards the ring to a huge ovation. Meng rushes forward to meet him but gets taken out with a clothesline. Robert Parker loses his mind as Hall reaches the cage. Parker tries to get away, but Hall grabs him by the jacket. Inside the ring, Hall’s entrance has proven a useful distraction as the babyfaces are attacking their respective enemies as Hall rolls Parker into the ring and slides in behind him. Murdoch attacks Hall and gets a kick to the gut followed by a fallaway slam. Buck charges next and takes a clothesline.

Referee Nick Patrick locks the cage as Meng loses his mind trying to get in the ring.

The action at this point consists entirely of Team Rhodes getting in offense with Hall a man on fire, laying out everything that moves without taking any abuse. With all of the Stud Stable down, Robert Parker finds himself surrounded by all five members of Team Rhodes. The crowd pops as Dusty does a little taunt and then hits him with an elbow! Parker stumbles backwards and takes a shot from Larry! Then from Arn! Then from Hall…then from Dustin! Parker stumbles around and drops flat on his back, sprawled out.

The Studs trying to get back to their feet are quickly taken back to the ground as Dusty Rhodes locks Robert Parker in a figure four leg lock! Parker is screaming in pain and Meng is losing his mind at ringside, unable to get in. Parker is screaming out that he submits, but Nick Patrick refuses to ring the bell without an official member of the match submitting.

Parker looks at Funk and begs him to submit, but Funk refuses. Bunkhouse Buck is dragged over by Hall and shakes his head yes for the referee! The bell rings and we have winners!

Winners: …via submission, Team Rhodes! (Dusty Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes, Arn Anderson, Larry Zbyszko and Scott Hall)

Match Rating: B

Team Rhodes stands tall in the ring with Scott Hall doing his stomping taunt as Tony Schiavone has a conniption and Fall Brawl comes to a close.

Lord Steven Regal d. Week 4, September 1994

WWF Monday Night Raw #81

Region: South East

Venue: SC North Charleston Coliseum (Attendance: 13,295)

Rating:2.83 (Viewers: 2,122,260)

Card Rating: B+

Jim Neidhart defeated Rich Myers (Rating: C-)

Blayze Challenges Backlund, Tricks Him (Rating: C)

Blayze is in the ring with a mic, calling out Backlund for his recent behaviour. She asks him what he wants, and he states that he believes female wrestling is a disgrace and wants to see it shut down! Blayze asks Backlund if he believes he can defeat the female wrestlers competing in WWF in recent weeks...? Backlund responds that he can take on any and all of these wayward little girls! Blayze takes him up on the "all" part and suggests a 4-1 handicap match at In Your House: Backlund vs. Blayze, Bennett, Jacqueline and Devine! Surely, being a superior man that he is, he won't refuse that matchup? Unless he's too scared...? Hesitating for a bit, he feels pressured to accept - but demands that if he wins, the World Women's Championship will be vacated and women will no longer be wrestling! Blayze accepts but counters with a demand of her own: if they win... Backlund must become her manager!

The Saint defeated Doug Williams and Robbie Brookside in a Triple Threat match (Rating: D+)

Luger Beaten Down By Tatanka (Rating: B)

Talk about bad blood between these two men!

The Headshrinkers defeated Men on a Mission (Rating: C+)

DDP Challenges Landel (Rating: B)

DDP wants his hands on Landel inside the squared circle at In Your House! Landel and Cornette, seemingly not concerned with DDP, accepts!

Sabu defeated Rey Mysterio (Rating: B-)

Angle with Ted DiBiase, The Undertaker, Bam Bam Bigelow (Rating: B+)

The Undertaker wants his hands on DiBiase, but DiBiase wisely throws Bigelow under the bus instead; a match between Bigelow and Undertaker is set up for In Your House.

Buddy Landel and Jerry Lawler defeated The Rock 'n' Roll Express (Rating: B-)

DDP Post-Match Attack On Landel (Rating: C+)

After the tag team bout, DDP runs to the ring and hits a flashy new move on Landel that takes him out completely. He then grabs Jim Ross' headset and announces that Landel just got taken out by a Diamond Cutter. It probably won't be the last time we see this hard-hitting move from Page's hands.

Savage And Michaels Argue (Rating: A)

Randy Savage and Shawn Michaels comes head to head, arguing over their recent encounters. The inevitable happens: a match for Savage's IC title is set up for In Your House!

Jake Roberts defeated Greg Valentine (Rating: B-)

Roberts Rants About I.R.S. (Rating: A)

Hayes Interviews Owen, Talks About Bret (Rating: A)

Diesel & Shawn Michaels defeated The Midnight Males by DQ to retain the WWF World Tag Team Championship titles (Rating: B)

Bagwell and Daniels really show that they're an up-and-coming tag team here, providing a much bigger challenge for Diesel and HBK than anticipated. In the end however, Michael's cunning tactics and Diesel's brute strength is more than they can handle. More specifically, Diesel's Jackknife Powerbomb turned out to be more than Bagwell could handle, resulting in a pinfall victory.

Bob Backlund defeated Barry Horowitz (Rating: C-)

- There are reports that the WWF will release a book written by the Undertaker. It's entitled "Tombstoned". There is a lot of talk that the Undertaker will be given the WWF Title, with the primary guess being that it will take place on Monday Night Raw's Halloween edition.

- Last year, Del Wilkes (aka. The Patriot) worked a try-out for the WWF using a magician gimmick. It is rumored that Wilkes will be brought in, maybe after the next PPV, with this gimmick.

- Word is that WCW had been toying around with the idea of creating a lightweight division all year and are dissapointed to see WWF beat them to it, enjoying great initial success with their cruiserweights. It is common belief among pundits that the possibilities for this division are fantastic. Meanwhile, WCW actually has somewhat of a history with this style and in 1992, under Bill Watts, this idea led to one of the best PPV matches ever in North America when Brian Pillman faced Jushin Liger for the WCW Lightheavyweight Title. Now, under Eric Bischoff, focus seems to be on big, muscular guys with dubious talent and old veterans who seems to have more business in a retirement home than in a wrestling ring.

- Hulk Hogan's band (yes, he has one) will be releasing their second album (yes, they made one prior to this) in four weeks. The group is called "Hulk Hogan's Wrestling Boot Trash Can Band." The album features a mix of musical styles from funky to country to rock. The other members of the band includes Jimmy Hart, Hillbilly Jim, Brutus Beefcake, Koko B. Ware and Typhoon.

I'm probably just being irrational, but, you jobbed Gary's only client to Flyin' Brian right out of the gate. Makes him look like a loser. I grew in Dallas, so, I am the opposite of impartial. (BTW -- If you get a chance, read Gary Hart's book. A tremendous glimpse of the business through the 70s and 80s.)
