QAW: Passing The Torch

Recommended Posts

<p>Great show as always!</p><p> </p><p>

I like the introduction of Joella. Definitely something out of the box, and I could see her getting a win (if she ever does) being a big deal.</p><p> </p><p>

I also like the post-event comments on each match, as I think it's a good way into following along with your booking thought process.</p><p> </p><p>

And, damn, what a rating pulled by the tag match. Chitose's momentum must be through the roof, and I think she's talented enough to pull off great matches with most of your roster. Her rematch against Paige should be a classic.</p><p> </p><p>

Card for Army of One week 2 August 2018</p><p>

Held at War Memorial Auditorium (capacity 2000)</p><p> </p><p>

Dark Match 1: <strong>Chitose Ariwara</strong> vs Joella Parent</p><p>

<em>Joella's got a year of losing to work through before she does anything, I'm guessing.</em></p><p>

Dark Match 2: Maria Guest & Thea Davis vs <strong>Anderson & Snyder</strong></p><p>

<em>Hmmm. I'm tempted to pick Thea and Guest, but I'm not sure if either of them are in line for a push yet.</em></p><p>

Dark Match 3: Etsuko Arihyoshi vs <strong>Brooke Tyler</strong></p><p>

<em>On the other hand, Brooke looks like the one getting the push, or at least more storyline attention that entails winning matches like this.</em></p><p>

Opener: Alexis Lee vs <strong>Talia Quinzel</strong></p><p>

<em>And Talia establishes herself further as a singles competitor.</em></p><p>

Match 2: Juana Huracán & Pamela Rojo vs <strong>Special Edition</strong></p><p>

<em>Hmmm, I can't bet against Special Edition here, even with Huracán and Rojo (Crimson Hurricane anyone?) coming off of wins from the previous show.</em></p><p>

Match 3: Christy Higgins vs <strong>Teresa Perez</strong> in a No DQ, No count outs match. Any interference will lead to a terminated contract, per Dharma Gregg’s instructions.</p><p>

<em>And I can't predict Perez matches any more, but I'll stick with her anyway. </em><img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Main Event: <strong>Cherry Bomb</strong>, Foxxy LaRue, Jillian Jarvis and Killer Kass in a Fatal 4-way</p><p>

<em>Sooooooo...this show is in the Mid West, which means that Cherry should be pretty even on popularity relative to how she is in the Mid South. Because of that, I'll take her here, thinking that she needs the win more to earn another match against Paige.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions:</p><p>

- What is the match of the night? <strong>Main event</strong> should still be a good one with the participants involved, so I'll go with that.</p><p>

- Will someone interfere in the match between Christy and Teresa? Ah, why do I feel like this is a trick question? <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Even with that, I'll say <strong>no</strong>.</p><p> </p><p>

Tie breaker: What is the event rating? Main event has enough big names to make it a hot one, so I'll say <strong>60</strong>.</p>

Card for Army of One week 2 August 2018

Held at War Memorial Auditorium (capacity 2000)

Dark Match 1: Chitose Ariwara vs Joella Parent

Parent's pain train is going to keep on rolling right over her.

Dark Match 2: Maria Guest & Thea Davis vs Anderson & Snyder

Maybe I'm too influenced by Thea Davis in the DPW story, but she seems to be useful enough to merit a victory.

Dark Match 3: Etsuko Arihyoshi vs Brooke Tyler

I'm switching my horse to Brooke Tyler, she could be big.

Opener: Alexis Lee vs Talia Quinzel

Talia's got more upside in the long term.

Match 2: Juana Huracán & Pamela Rojo vs Special Edition

I'm going with the Special Edition, on the "generally favor the team that has a name".

Match 3: Christy Higgins vs Teresa Perez in a No DQ, No count outs match. Any interference will lead to a terminated contract, per Dharma Gregg’s instructions.

I keep on wanting Christy to win, but the stipulation seems to work toward the heel.

Main Event: Cherry Bomb, Foxxy LaRue, Jillian Jarvis and Killer Kass in a Fatal 4-way

I think it might help continue the Cherry Bomb storyline for her to get a win.

Bonus Questions:

- What is the match of the night? That main event reads like hot fire to me.

- Will someone interfere in the match between Christy and Teresa? But of course!

Tie breaker: What is the event rating? (Last time in the Mid West, 4 weeks ago it was a 54, in the slightly smaller venue the Junkyard) 56

Superstar Highlights: Maria Guest

http://i.imgur.com/Qz1443V.jpg http://i.imgur.com/UsrKpsP.jpg

Billy Barton: This week, I have the pleasure of interviewing someone who is frequently touted as “the future of QAW”. Welcome to the podcast, Maria Guest.

Maria Guest: Thank you Billy, it’s always a pleasure to talk to you.

Billy: Yeah, for long time listeners, this isn’t the first time you hear Maria on this podcast. I believe the first time was two years ago...no even more than that, creeping up on three years. Back then I made a bold statement predicting that by 2018 if not sooner, Maria Guest would be one of the faces of women’s wrestling in this country.

Maria: *sigh* Yeah, you said that.

Billy: I’m sorry if I jinxed it, but it is quite clear after this year’s Contender series where you finished without a point on the board, things haven’t quite gone according to plan, have they?

Maria: No, it is true I didn’t have the tournament I hoped, but I think another perspective is that QAW has grown even faster than I have. If you had asked me three years ago where I would be in my career by the end of 2018, I think I would have been pleased if I had moved on to be a big fish in the little pond QAW were then. But do you remember the company QAW were then? It was a little pond. We’d be happy to draw 700 people in those days. Today? I wait for the day when QAW announce our first 5-digit event. I’m a small fish today, but I’m in a pretty big pond. And don’t forget, me and Alexis were tag team champions a year ago. Defended it three times.

Billy: True. Lost the titles to Special Edition, and it’s not exactly like they played fair.

Maria: No, they certainly didn’t.

http://i.imgur.com/Ejm21gp.jpg

Billy: Goals then? When the legend of women’s wrestling Farrah Hesketh took you under her wing and signed you to her newly founded company, you must have set up goals for yourself?

Maria: I do that all the time. Wrestling is a continuous struggle, right? I want to win gold again, like everyone else. Once is a fluke. Show you can do it again shows you’re for real.

Billy: And that’s QAW gold, or would you be open to moving to other companies if the opportunity arose?

Maria: You know that’s not a fair question, Billy. Even though Farrah had to sell QAW to that Mexican conglomerate, my ties to QAW aren’t going away just like that. It’s Farrah’s baby, and I’m thankful she’s still with us day to day. But I can’t make that kind of guarantees. You know how much USPW wrestlers are paid. I don’t think I’m next in line for a contract over there, but if it were to happen, who knows. Do you make 8 grand a month doing what you do, Billy?

Billy: Me? Gods, no.

Maria: Would you like to?

Billy: Of course, who wouldn’t.

Maria: And there’s the dilemma of every wrestler in this business. We do what we do because we love it, but how big paycut am I prepared to take for a good employer?

Billy: Again, fair position. But I understand this season is pretty lucrative for QAW workers, you are all on pay per appearance contracts. If I count correctly, July had thirteen QAW events. I don’t know the details of your contract, but it should be a pretty handy sum of money coming your way.

Maria: I didn’t appear at all those thirteen shows, but you are right. It’s like a Christmas bonus, except it shows up by the end of July. I see a lot of new cars in the parking lot this time of year…

Billy: I hope some is stashed away for a rainy day too. Even wrestlers grow old eventually, you know.

Maria: Hah! I plan to stay young forever.

http://i.imgur.com/BwKOOLU.jpg

Billy: Well, if you have that kind of power I’ll renew my prediction that you will shoot up the QAW rankings. Over to something else. American Sweethearts, named after your old partner and friend Danielle Sweetheart. As a group, you have had a period when you have struggled a bit?

http://i.imgur.com/9MSufEA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/JDg7ZNg.jpg http://i.imgur.com/tjDJHC2.jpg http://i.imgur.com/xYuulxj.jpg

Maria: Can’t deny that. It’s a real mess really. We do our best, but Alexis Lee and myself can only do so much, and Christy (Higgins) and Teresa (Perez)… I don’t know what’s going to happen there. It breaks my heart to see them at each others throat. Higa also seems to be drifting away from us, though I don’t really know her status. I think we lack someone to gather around, someone who can be a spearhead and a face outward. Danielle was that kind of person.

Billy: Have you thought of someone who could fill that role?

http://i.imgur.com/vrW0gLX.jpg

Maria: It’s difficult. I wasn’t even convinced she was the right person, but I talked with Foxxy LaRue what her thoughts were about American Sweethearts, if she’d be up for joining, but she gave a flat no. It might have been the right call. I admire the turn she has taken, but trust takes a long time to rebuild, you know?

Billy: Anybody else?

Maria: I’m open to suggestions…

http://i.imgur.com/Heo5HkZ.jpg

Billy: Chitose Ariwara perhaps? She's riding a big wave of success and I imagine she share many of your values...

Maria: Well… We don’t really get along too well. I don’t think it would be a good idea.

Billy: Oh, really? This sounds like the kind of locker room gossip I crave. Tell me, what’s going on? Is she cutting up your clothes while you’re in the ring? Filling your bags with...stuff?

Maria: What? No! No, it’s nothing like that. Different personality types, that’s all. What cheers her up pisses me off and probably vice versa. She’s a fine professional, and I strive to be the same.

Billy: You have no soul, leaving me hanging like that…

Maria: I’m terribly sorry Billy.

Billy: Ok, this is a rumour I have heard, and you may take it as such, but some say you are a little difficult to work with. Why do you think that is?

Maria: The rumours? I mean, it’s possible I guess that I *am* difficult to work with. I am a junior in the locker room, but I hate whenever I see the attitude “well, done the minimal effort required for my paycheck, I’m outta here, so long”. I will voice my opinion if I think someone isn’t carrying their weight or displaying a bad attitude.

Billy: That can be gutsy when you’re dealing with veterans with another 10-15 years in the business.

Maria: I know, but I can’t help it. I care about this company, is that so strange? They can have 100 years in the business and a bus load of titles they’re carrying around, if they don’t carry their own weight, they can go f**k themselves!

Billy: I will have to remember to bleep that…

Maria: I’m sorry. More work.

http://i.imgur.com/o4fPJU5.jpg

Billy: I won’t complain, I promise. Houston Handley was released from her contract here last week. You were pretty good friends I understand. Can you say something about that?

Maria: This is no secret, I have voiced my opinion about this to the relevant parties. I think it’s bs. Houston has been a loyal servant of this company since day one, she gets an injury and the company drops her ass on the street just like that. I’m so angry.

Billy: It sounds like something of a rift in the company. Are others as unhappy?

Maria: Well… I can only speak for myself, but I think there are others that share my view. But you know, what’s done is done, and all you can do is work on and do your best. And hope you don’t get a niggling neck injury like Houston, I guess.

Billy: There might be reason to come back to this topic in the future. Let’s talk about some more uplifting topics for now, ok? Despite your young age, you are quite a QAW veteran by now, with a lot of matches under your belt. Which match is your favorite?

http://i.imgur.com/0Hskf5g.jpg http://i.imgur.com/eV5dEGc.jpg

Maria: This spring, in March me and Alexis Lee had a match against Paige Croft and Melody. It was fantastic. To wrestle against so good opponents is an amazing experience.

Billy: Rated a B (82) by the Wrestling Gazetteer. It was a really good match, part of a really strong card. I think it's fair to argue it was the match of the night. Are Paige and Melody favorites to wrestle against?

Maria: Well, good opponents like that are always helpful to wrestle against, but otherwise I don’t know. I don’t really have favorites like that. Well, unless you count Alexis who I just love working with.

Billy: One final question before we turn off the lights and go home. Do you have any dream opponents that you haven’t had an opportunity to face yet?

http://i.imgur.com/oz8ZpSz.jpg

Maria: Going hand in hand with what I said about wanting to win gold, it would be great to get an opportunity against Purple Viper for the Shockwave title. We have never wrestled one on one, and only once in a tag team match. I don’t think she gets enough credit for what an incredible wrestler she is. People just see the dirty tricks and the cheating. Taking that title from her would be a dream come true, and really proof of how far I've come.

Billy: Thank you Maria for your time and the candid answers. It’s been a pleasure.

OOC: Thanks to MrWolf101 who requested an interview with Maria Guest as the prize for winning the prediction contest for Contender Series VII. She’s an interesting one, Maria. One of three negative influences in the QAW locker room, but also Farrah Hesketh’s protege…

Army of One week 2 August 2018

Held at War Memorial Auditorium before 1600 people

http://i.imgur.com/2sYuUTT.jpg http://i.imgur.com/8tsKEih.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Heo5HkZ.jpg

Backstage, Joella Parent chases up to Dharma Gregg. She’s once again in impeccable business attire, but looks far more haunted than last week.

“Miss Gregg, I am ready to take on my administrative role again after last weeks mishap, I hope you accept my penance for my grave clumsiness…”

Dharma looks at her with a searching look. “Dressing for the job that you want is well and good, but you really should be better prepared for the job you have. Let me introduce you to your opponent for tonight. Chitose Ariwara, this is my useless assistant who thinks I have a short memory. Don’t go easy on her, will you?” she says as the camera shifts right to a smiling Chitose, seemingly oblivious to the undertones.

Dark Match 1: Chitose Ariwara vs Joella Parent

Chitose doesn’t have to do anything outrageous to secure the win, she outwrestles her opponent with quick technical wrestling chasing Joella around the ring. A rake across the face from Parent provides a brief comeback allowing her to show off some of her rather limited move set, but Chitose soon recover the initiative with a drop toe hold. Not particularly known for her submission game, Chitose none the less locks in a Fujiwara armbar, showing how little fight Parent has in her as she taps out.

Chitose Ariwara wins by submission in 11:19

Dark Match 2: Maria Guest & Thea Davis vs Anderson & Snyder

Anderson and Snyder show how far teamwork and cynicism gets you as they wear down their opponents little by little. While both Guest and Davis gets to display some of what they can do, they’re unable to control the ring the way the two former champions do. The seeming control of proceedings does not prevent Ava Anderson however from grabbing the tights of Thea Davis to get the pin.

Ava Anderson wins by pinfall in 12:12

Dark Match 3: Etsuko Arihyoshi vs Brooke Tyler

It’s two highly skilled wrestler that lock up, putting on a decent show of technical wrestling until proceedings are cut a bit short when Tyler is driven side first into Etsuko’s knee, clearly smarting from the impact. The end of the match feels a bit rushed as Brooke counters Etsuko’s attempt to follow up her offense by lifting Brooke into a fireman’s carry countered with a toe kick and instead being dropped head first with an impact DDT, then rolled over for the quick pin.

Brooke Tyler wins by pinfall in 10:14

In Dharma Gregg’s office, Teresa and Christy are flanking Dharma’s desk. Teresa looks upset, Christy looks smug, having picked up the win in last week’s outing.

“Is this how you wanted to show how good you are? By having Talia and her goon beat me up so you could win?” Teresa spits out.

Christy to her credit looks chastised, avoiding looking Teresa in the eyes. “Well… I didn’t cheat to win. You can’t control everything that goes on in a wrestling ring. ”

“I know you Christy, or at least I think I do. You’re not happier about this than I am. Give me a rematch, and we’ll fight this one out, once and for all.”

Christy looks conflicted, but finally she nods. “Fine, let’s do it right. You know the result will be the same though. Dharma?”

Dharma has been watching the two, perhaps wondering why they’ve taken their argument into her office.

“This is all well and good. I will let the roster know that anyone that interferes will be terminated from QAW so you can sort out your issues, in peace. Ahem.. But I don’t want you to come back to me and say you have unfinished business after this. For that reason I’ll give you the tools to let out all your frustrations at each other. So the match will be an Anything goes, no disqualification, no count outs match. There will be no draws in this match, understood? Good. Now get out of my office.”

Elsewhere backstage, Alexis Lee finds herself face to face with her old protegé from American Sweethearts, Talia Quinzel. Talia smirks at the sight of the elder woman of the babyface faction.

“How is it going to feel Alexis? To watch your little pups beat the crap out of each other tonight, Sweetheart versus American Sweetheart? When Teresa takes a chair to Christy’s head? You know how I’m going to feel?” While the question is clearly rhetorical, she still pauses, if only to watch Alexis steam.

“I’m going to feel so proud. I finally achieved something with American Sweethearts, that I never did as a member. When those two crack open each others skulls tonight, I’ll crack open a fine bottle of champagne.”

Able to take only so much, Alexis finally snaps, double chopping Talia straight in the face and goes on to throw her into the corridor wall, but Talia soon counters and the table Alexis was about to slam Talia into, it is Alexis that gets power bombed through. Soon the two are separated by staff workers.

Alfonso Garcia: The General Manager is not putting forward to tomorrow what can be done right away. The backstage brawl a moment ago will get it’s resolution in the ring, right here, right now.

Farrah Hesketh: Good on Alexis Lee, the bullying from Talia Quinzel has been going on long enough, it’s high time someone shut her up.

Grace Harper: In magic Christmas land, I’m sure that’s what’s going to happen, but I’ll let you in on a secret. Santa does not exist! And neither does the chance that Alexis Lee is stepping out of this ring with a win.

Farrah: You don’t know that. Alexis has motivation going for her.

Grace: Talia has class, and from the looks of it, I would say she’s highly motivated to beat the tar out of Alexis Lee.

<p style="border:3px;border-style:solid; border-color:# 0020C2; padding: 2em;"> http://i.imgur.com/9MSufEA.jpg  vs http://i.imgur.com/LqQJWHu.jpg

Match 1: Alexis Lee vs Talia Quinzel

As soon as the bell rings, the two slam into each other in the middle of the ring, grappling for an advantage, Alexis smaller and quicker, doing well to keep Talia off-balance, robbing her at least momentarily of her strength advantage, and they tumble to the mat where they trade holds until Talia tires of a form of wrestling where they are basically equals and grabs a rope for the separation.

Alexis give Talia room to get up, a process Talia drags out until referee Erin Lawrence feel it’s time to warn her for delaying the match. When she lets go of the ropes and Alexis come charging, Talia take cover between the ropes again, pointing out to Erin how Alexis just won’t let her get into the ring. Erin Lawrence gives Talia a tired look, but dutifully asks Alexis to give Talia space to get into the ring.

http://i.imgur.com/2QUyjcm.jpg

As soon as Alexis attention is just for a moment directed toward the referee, Talia flies at her. Alexis avoids a big boot, but the subsequent discus lariat hits her square in the head. Talia starts attacking Alexis arm with vicious stomps, but when she goes for the knee drive Alexis manages to roll out of the way. She’s just about to apply a hammerlock on Talia when she sees Selina Svelte marching down the ramp with a smirk. Alexis forgets about the hold she was about to apply, starts arguing with the referee, asking Erin to eject Selina. Talia quietly gets up, and just as Alexis realizes the danger, Talia has a hold on her from behind, tosses her into the air for a brutal backbreaker.

Selina give Talia two thumbs up, but otherwise seem content watching from a safe distance as Talia go through a series of suplexes. After the third, Talia simply puts a foot on Alexis chest, urging Erin Lawrence to count her out, but on two, Alexis gets a shoulder up. Talia looks annoyed, lifts up Alexis in a package and delivers the Spinal Trauma into the pin, and this time, Erin Lawrence counts to three uninterrupted.

Talia Quinzel wins by pinfall in 21:10

Match Rating: D-</p>

http://i.imgur.com/SrJMR1G.jpg

Killer Kass walks out to the ring, without Capitano at her side for once. She grabs a microphone from a ring worker that shies away at her scowl.

“Dharma Gregg! Last week you ignored our call, but I warn you. Ignore me again at your peril. Since you don’t seem to have any plans to provide us with worthy tag team challengers, I am growing restless. Idle hands don’t make money.”

http://i.imgur.com/2sYuUTT.jpg

Dharma Gregg comes out, seem to consider her options, but decides not to back down, and so enters the ring with Kass.

“You have called me out Kass, but I have not heard a proposal. You know the world title match is not in another two weeks?”

“I’m well aware. My proposal is simple. Cherry Bomb seems eager to insert herself in the title picture. If you are uncertain who deserves to be called the top contender, give me a match against Cherry Bomb and I’ll display in short order who’s next in line.”

http://i.imgur.com/MvdHpsB.jpg

Cherry walks out to some cheers from the crowd. She winks at the fans, shake some hands and put her headband on a girl in front row before she gets in the ring.

“I’m more than happy to give miss Kass a match if that’s what she wants. Let me just clarify one thing. I want a shot at Paige Croft. I’m only chasing the top contender position because it gets me to her.”

Dharma is about to say something, when music hits again.

Alex up the street called, said he saw a bobcat

Check your trash can lids, notify your comrades

I said, "I'll take first watch"

1 AM defend the whole block

http://i.imgur.com/vrW0gLX.jpg

Foxxy LaRue comes out to the ring, getting a microphone as she climbs between the ropes.

“I couldn’t help hearing the plans you were concocting out here. I understand deciding a title contender can be tricky, but let me just remind you of one thing Dharma. Last time we met, I beat Killer Kass clean. And Cherry Bomb here who I have the utmost respect for, well, we have never met so who can tell who should be first in line?”

Dharma nods. “We could make a three-way match…” she just about gets out of her before music hits again.

http://i.imgur.com/HVIJsmp.jpg

Jillian walks out on the ramp, pauses for a moment with both hands in her sides before marching down to the ring, studiously ignoring the crowd booing.

Once in the ring, she takes center stage, pointing a finger at Foxxy.

“You have to be kidding. You refer to Contender Series and think it makes you title material? Or you, for that matter,” she says, turning her accusing finger at Killer Kass.

“Do I have to remind you who beat both of you? Dharma, there is only one top contender in this ring, and it’s none of these three bozos.” She gets an evil glare from Kass who looks like she’s ready to drop the mic and make Jarvis eat her words.

“Ah,” Dharma says trying to regain control of a situation where she’s in a very bad place if it suddenly turned to violence. “A lot of good arguments all. We are a wrestling company though. Let’s not dwell too much on the past. Tonight as main event, we’ll settle the argument with an Anything Goes 4-way match. Sounds good? Ok, thank you for your time ladies, I have places to be.” Dharma gets out of the ring, looking back once she’s gotten out with a visible look of relief that she got out alive.

Match 2: Juana Huracán & Pamela Rojo vs Special Edition

Perhaps annoyed at being considered inconsequential to the title scene by Capitano and Kass, perhaps driven by a petty desire to put a hurdle in the way for Pamel a Rojo’s build up to her title match against Purple Viper, the Special Edition puts on a clinic. Charity redirects opponents into her team’s ring corner where they’re mauled by Deborah. Pamela and Juana fight bravely, but Charity and Deborah fight dirty, and it pays off. Juana is given a low blow from Charity while the ref was looking the other direction was enough to secure Special Edition control of the match they would not give up. Deborah who was the active wrestler knocked Pamela Rojo off the ring apron, then tagged in Charity for a combo move culminating with a Sugar Smack from Charity and a pin, 1-2-3.

Alfonso Garcia: Coming up is the grudge match between Christy Higgins and Teresa Perez. Is this the resolution to the feud? The first match resulted in a double count out, the second went to Christy after interference from Talia Quinzel and Claire Winters. General Manager Dharma Gregg has made a decree that anyone that interferes with the match will be out of a job.

Farrah: There are some I’m sure who would be eager to contine to make Christy and Teresa’s life difficult, but will anyone be prepared to give up their contract to do so?

Match 3: Christy Higgins vs Teresa Perez in a No DQ, No count outs match.

As the two face each other in the ring, Teresa is looking intently at Christy who on the other hand seem to avoid Teresa’s gaze, warming up with her back to her old friend.

Once the bell rings, neither wastes any time, clashing in the middle of the ring trying to get the better grip. Christy sends Teresa sprawling with an armdrag, but both get to their feet fast both threatening super kicks, but holds off when they see that their opponent had exactly the same plan.

The match continues at a raging pace. Eventually Christy is knocked over the top rope to the outside, Teresa follows her by delivering an elbow from the top rope. On the outside they go back and forth, Christy at one point pulls out a table, but is bombed through it herself moments later. She gets her revenge soon after when she from a fireman’s carry drops Teresa straight through the announce table.

After that, Christy stumbles away, looking exhausted, creating separation as much to catch her breath as to consider her next course of action. She looks beneath the ring apron, rummages about for something and finds a steel chair that she slams against the floor for effect, the sound of steel against concrete echoes through the arena. Teresa, on the far side of the ring has recovered somewhat herself, notices the weapon in Christy’s hands. She quickly ushers a member of staff out of her chair, which she grabs.

From different sides, Teresa and Christy slide into the ring, get to their feet, take a couple of quick steps toward each other until they are within striking distance. They both raise their respective chair to deliver a shot to the head of their opponent. As if in slow motion, chairs make arcs through the air, Teresa having perhaps a fraction of a second on Christy, then a loud clang of one chair hitting its target. We see Teresa holding her chair mid-air, having held her blow, while she stumbles from the impact from the chairshot she just took.

While Teresa looks out of it despite still standing, Christy looks perhaps even more shell shocked. The ring becomes very quiet, the only sound that of Teresa’s chair falling out of her hand, of Christy tossing her behind her, and of Christy looking into Teresa’s glassy eyes asking with trembling voice, “Why? Why, Teresa?”

Seeing Teresa struggling to remain standing, it’s as if Christy has forgotten that a match is still going as she steps in to hold Teresa up in as much a hug as anything. Christy doesn’t notice, but referee Erin Lawrence sees how Teresa make the tapping motion against her leg, and Erin calls for the bell, declaring Christy Higgins the winner “by submission”.

Now even more crestfallen, Christy repeats her question. Teresa looks her in the eyes practically forehead to forehead, smiling but clearly still dazed. “Didn’t have it in my heart to strike my best friend one more time.”

Christy stares at Teresa, an apparent storm of emotions, then rather than start bawling, she hugs Teresa, burying her face in Teresa’s shoulder. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry…” Christy hulks, before starting to help Teresa out of the ring, and continues to apologize as she escorts Teresa backstage.

Main Event: Cherry Bomb, Foxxy LaRue, Jillian Jarvis and Killer Kass in a Fatal 4-way

As the match starts, Cherry and Foxxy looks to make a temporary alliance, teaming up on Killer Kass who gets to look strong as she knocks two opponents to the floor in one big double clothesline. Jillian Jarvis is opportunistic, attacking a weakened LaRue in the wake of the behemoth, putting her in a gnarly looking hammerlock while Cherry defends herself from an onslaught from Kass, the end result being that Cherry is clotheslined over the top rope out of the ring. Soon after, Foxxy has reversed the hold Jillian had on her and she uses her advantage to send Jarvis out of the ring as well.

As they get to their feet, Cherry and Jillian start duking it out on the outside. No frills, no finesse, just throwing each other into barriers, ring apron and corner post. All while Foxxy and Kass face off in the ring. It’s David vs Goliath as Foxxy dances around the ring, doding and weaving out of the way of Kass’ powerful swings. A drop toe-hold dropping Kass into the lower rope swings momentum in Foxxy’s favor for a while, allowing her to rain blows on her foe, but soon later Kass reverses an Irish whip into a devastating clothesline, flattening Foxxy.

On the outside, it has been mayhem as Cherry and Jarvis can’t seem to find each others limit. Having suplexed Cherry into the ring steps, Jillian clears off the announce table and drags Cherry up on it. Getting up herself, she lifts Cherry up for a scoop slam, but Cherry has the presence of mind to slip out of Jillian’s grip landing behind her. Giving Jillian a double chop to the neck, Cherry signals for her finisher, and soon they both crash through the announce table with Jarvis eating the brunt of the damage from the ‘Cherry Bomb’.

At the same time in the ring, Killer Kass is pushing Foxxy LaRue around the ring, slamming her this way and that, while Foxxy desperately try to stay a mobile target. She ends up in a corner with no where to go as Kass come charging, but manages to get a boot up, knocking Kass back, and when Kass tries again, Foxxy slips out of the way, leaving only the turnbuckle for Kass to spear.

Thinking she has escaped the onslaught, starting to think of how to win this match, Foxxy doesn’t notice Cherry rolling into the ring at first. At some point during the brawl on top of the announce table Cherry has been cut open and her face is slowly becoming a mask of blood as she takes center stage, not attacking until Foxxy notices her, but then she strikes with no mercy, a toe kick to the gut doubles Foxxy over, a Cherry Bomb, pin, and...Foxxy kicks out at two!

From the corner, Kass stirs. Seeing Foxxy isn’t going to be of any help, Cherry start beating down on Kass with forearms and uppercuts and finishes with a DDT. As she gets up, she’s hit with a low drop kick from a recovered Foxxy, falling over a knocked out Kass in the process. Foxxy climbs to the top turnbuckle, goes for a senton potentially to both Cherry and Kass, but Cherry manages to roll out of the way, leaving Kass to take the full impact.

Cherry gets up first, followed by Foxxy who seems to be hurting from the landing. As Cherry goes in for the kill, Foxxy tries a super kick but her leg is caught by Cherry. She tries to transition into an enziguiri, but is instead pulled in and off balance by Cherry who delivers a capture suplex into a pin attempt, but Foxxy gets a shoulder up. Cherry looks like she can’t believe Foxxy’s resilience, so she goes for the Cherry Bomb, again, and although Jillian Jarvis has come to, sliding into the ring to break the pin and Kass struggling to get up as well, it’s too late as the referee counts to three.

With blood still all over her face, Cherry climbs one turnbuckle, raising her hands in the air, receiving the cheer of the fans. As the cheers quiet down, she roars out. "Paige Croft! You can't hide from me! Count your title holding days, you little punk!"

She takes her time in the ring, posturing to the chants of her name before eventually striding up the ramp, giving the crowd a final applause before exiting.

Interlude

<p style="border:3px;border-style:solid; border-color:# 0020C2; padding: 2em;">Later that night, backstage

War Auditorium, Wichita, KS

http://i.imgur.com/tjDJHC2.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg

Teresa Perez is the last one left in the locker room, taking her time to get ready as Sarah Wilkes walk in. Teresa looks up, a little surprised.

“Hey, I thought everyone had left,” she says.

Sarah leans against the wall next to the door, sighing. “Had some soul searching to do. An empty wrestling arena is a good place for thinking.”

“I get you. What’s on your mind,” Teresa asks, a little warily. Sarah had held the axe when Houston Handley was let go just over a week ago, and suddenly one on one chats with ‘the boss’ had become something a lot of people on the roster dreaded.

“I think I owe you an apology,” Sarah finally says, looking anywhere but at Teresa.

“For what?” Teresa frowns, clearly not seeing the transgression.

“Not just you either, Christy too, but I’ll talk to her later. Why? Because I’m a terrible booker. I set you and Christy up to fail with impossible instructions and put the big climax of your storyline at a tiny event far far away from our main fan base, because I’m an idiot. I’m burning up inside, and I don’t know if it’s more shame or anger at myself.”

Teresa is quiet for a while, taking in Sarah’s ‘confession’. Then she picks up her phone, swipes a couple of times, then gets up from her bench and walks over to Sarah, showing her the phone.

“Here's what I think you should do. Go out on social media, and tell this little girl and her mother that it was a dumb idea to have a big story moment in front of them, that they're not worth putting on a great show in front of," she says, pointing at her phone, showing a selfie of a shy looking nine-year old girl next to a smiling Teresa. She flicks through the app, showing selfie after selfie taken with happy fans.

"I met so many people thanking us for putting on a great show, and a lot of them are spreading the word. I have my own hashtag now! #Perez4Life! You know what? You believed in me. You believed in Christy. You gave us a difficult task, but you thought we could do it, and I don't know if we lived up to what you imagined, but I appreciate that you gave us the opportunity to create something. We touched some hearts today, I have proof of it right here, and that is what matters to me.”

Seeing that Sarah isn't going to retort, Teresa continues.

“You have so much going for you Sarah, don’t make me resent you for it by feeling sorry for yourself at the slightest setback. I know you set a high bar for yourself and you have a different perspective than mine, you have business goals to meet, but you have nothing to apologize to me for.”

“I...thank you Teresa.” Sarah smiles weakly.

Teresa picks up her bag, sling it over her shoulder. “If you feel you have a debt outstanding, I have a feeling you have ways to pay it back, boss. Now if you excuse me, *I* have plans to explore Wichita’s selection of handsome air force cadets before we go back to Houston.”

“Happy hunting,” Sarah says, closing the lights behind her as she too leaves the auditorium.</p>

<p>Great stuff with Perez and Higgins. and good show overall. I think you captured the moment, and I felt the emotion coming through. The post-show segment only made me like Perez more, so I will continue to pick her matches incorrectly. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

The Joella segment seemed just right in terms of length, so I wouldn't have noticed unless you mentioned it.</p><p> </p><p>

Held at The Friedman Building, Mid South (Capacity 10,000)</p><p>

Dark Match: <strong>Maria Guest</strong> vs Thea Davis vs Darkness Cat vs Joella Parent</p><p>

<em>Veeeeerrry interesting. For me, this one is between Maria and Thea (unless Joella is getting a cheap win). While both are pretty equal in terms of talent, I feel like Guest is closer to that next level than Davis at this point.</em></p><p>

Dark Match: Juana Huracán vs <strong>Selina Svelte</strong></p><p>

<em>Ah, I have a feeling that this could go the other way, but Selina seems to be the stronger competitor here.</em></p><p>

Dark Match: Alexis Lee vs <strong>Laura Flame</strong></p><p>

<em>It could just be my bias for Laura, but I feel like she has more to offer than Alexis.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Opener:Maribel Mercado vs <strong>Mystery Opponent</strong></p><p>

<em>How can I go against Mystery Opponent? </em><img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

Match 2: Kitsune Warriors (Ariwara & Arihyoshi) vs <strong>Special Edition (Sweet & Young)</strong></p><p>

<em>Could Ariwara afford to suffer a loss here? Would she really benefit from winning more than Special Edition would? I'll say the latter, with Ariwara staying strong while Arihyoshi takes the fall.</em></p><p>

Match 3: <strong>Pamela Rojo</strong> vs Purple Viper © for the Shockwave Title</p><p>

<em>I went back and forth on this one, but I think Viper either needs to move up the card or get out of the way for someone with more potential.</em></p><p>

Match 4: <strong>Foxxy LaRue</strong> vs Talia Quinzel</p><p>

<em>Foxxy is money, while a win here would really bolster Talia. Hard to pick, but I say in the Mid-South, Foxxy needs to stay as strong as possible.</em></p><p>

Main Event: Team to be announced vs <strong>Dogs of War © (Capitano & Kass)</strong> for the Tag Team Titles</p><p>

<em>Really have no idea on the tag team. A couple of people are missing from the card, but I don't think I can go against Dogs of War no matter who it is.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Questions:</p><p>

- Which will be the match of the night? <strong>LaRue vs Quinzel</strong> should be great considering Foxxy's popularity and Talia's up and coming status.</p><p>

- Dharma Gregg give the Dogs of War an “easy challenge” for their tag team titles. Who are the challengers? (It's a team on the existing roster) So could people from one team be pulling double duty? Or could Paige be healthy enough for the main event? I'll say no to either, and go the <strong>Bubblegum Brawlers</strong> not being inactive after all. Damn, that makes me want to change my pick for the main event. <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p>

- How many title changes happens during the night? <strong>1</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Tie Breaker: The show sets a new attendance record for QAW. What is the attendance (old record was 8,161) Attendance growth can get crazy at times, but I'll say <strong>8,500</strong> for a round number.</p>

She is none other than the phenomenal Brooke Tyler!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke Tyler:</strong> Are you seriously suggesting your ignorant listeners aren't aware of perhaps the foremost talent in wrestling? Are they even wrestling fans?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> Ah, maybe I underestimate your fame here in the States, what do I know. I’ll take the blame, terribly sorry. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> Are you always this weak willed? How about standing up for yourself a little? </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> I feel we’ve gotten off a bit on the wrong foot here… </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> I hope you’re not trying to blame me for that. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> Gods no. How about we get into some of the questions from the listeners?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> Go ahead then. In a sick way I’m kind of looking forward to this. You know what they say about an infinite number of monkeys, each with a typewriter will eventually replicate works of Shakespeare? I feel we are halfway there, just they are producing wrestling fan mail instead.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy: </strong>A charming analogy I'm sure our listeners will be delighted by. First, how do you feel about your performance in Contender Series? You faced some of the best wrestlers around.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> I’m still adjusting to the style of wrestling over here. some ups, some downs. Still getting used to the amount of blatant cheating going on.</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/ZGbvgUH.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> Wait, but you used a pair of handcuffs to defeat Capitano!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke: </strong>Was that over the line? Like I said, still trying to figure out what referees around here will call and not. I don't think it's cheating, not really. The referees call what they see, and what they don't see is allowed.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> I'm not sure that's what the rules say, but well, not my place to say. It netted you a fine win against one of the main eventers of QAW. A sign that you are moving up the card?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> Well, duh. They didn’t sign me to fill out the roster. they signed Brooke Tyler, NOTBPW women’s champion. I have been patiently biding my time but I am *the* blue chipper. They haven’t seen anything yet. Literally.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> In that case, what are your short term goals? </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> I would say the Shockwave title would suit me fine as a stepping stone to bigger things. It is an absolute disgrace the kind of people that have been allowed to hold that title lately. </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/9pIGoQA.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> You just had an opportunity to get a shot at that title, but lost the deciding match to Pamela Rojo, again to disqualification.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> I honestly think referees in this country are out to get me. It’s jealousy! They never amounted to anything so they became referees, and now they see me, the complete package and they’re overcome with jealousy. It’s really difficult to wrestle under these conditions.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> You hit her with a chair!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke: </strong>Yeah, but not in the ring, and it wasn’t to the head...at least I didn’t aim for her head.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> It’s still against the rules!</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> Are you sure? I think I know the rules better than you. It’s not like you’re a professional wrestler.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> Well, I’m not, but I’m quite sure…</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> I don’t think you should spend so much effort arguing against authorities on topics you clearly don’t know the first thing about.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> *sigh* Let’s change topic. Before that disqualification, you had a pretty hard match with Rojo. Who are your favorite wrestlers to face in the ring?</p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/Heo5HkZ.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> Neither Chitose Ariwara nor Capitano can’t help but do that flippy stuff when they’re in the ring. It's quite a lot of fun swatting them out of the air like little flies. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy: </strong>You've got good chemistry? </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke: </strong>I guess you could call it that. I just think they have very punchable faces.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> What about best matches? </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/HVIJsmp.jpg</span> <span>http://i.imgur.com/vrW0gLX.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>Brooke: </strong>Well, the tag team match just the other week stands out, me and Jillian Jarvis against Chitose Ariwara and Foxxy LaRue. I put that match up there near the top of my CV. Before QAW, I had a top notch match pairing up with Gorgon against Amber Allen and Jaime Quinn. But things that happen in Canada doesn’t count to the insular QAW fans, I understand.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> I wouldn’t say that, but it’s true that most probably did not get to see that match. I can recommend anyone to check it out however as it is a really excellent bout. </p><p> </p><p> <span>http://i.imgur.com/xd2UaTz.jpg</span> <span>http://i.imgur.com/GDzkKTi.jpg</span></p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> For once we can agree about something and both be right, how nice. As far as singles matches go, my highlight reel consists of NOTBPW matches against Nina Cacace and Amber Allen, but in QAW, my best match so far was probably when I challenged Chitose Ariwara for the Shockwave title this spring. She got lucky to get away with that title.</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> I think it’s fair to say, QAW hasn’t yet seen everything Brooke Tyler has to offer. I think we’re about to round up this interview, do you have any final words to our listeners?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> Why, that was actually a nice thing of you to say. Look people, I’m not a bad guy, I’m really not. For someone like me, it’s just really hard to relate to the average common Joe - or Jane, and face it Billy, your listeners are more like sub-average. Wait, I did it again, didn’t I? Will they take offense at that?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> Can you seriously not tell?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> No, I mean yes ...maybe? If I say something hurtful to you, is it worse if I say something that is true or something that isn’t?</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> I think an insult can be equally hurtful whether the words are factually true or not. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Brooke:</strong> Huh. Think of it as tough love then. I’m giving some dumb lazy couch potatoes who have never made an effort to achieve anything an opportunity to rise and beat my admittedly very low expectations. </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Billy:</strong> I… think I’ll leave that final statement to speak for itself.</p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="42699" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div>OOC: Thanks to MrWolf101 for requesting the highlight interview with Brooke Tyler as prize for winning the prediction contest for Scars and Stripes July. <p>And now I've become a huge Brooke Tyler mark.</p><p> </p><p>

Tyler seems like she'd have a great skill set to succeed in QAW. She's got enough talent in both performance and popularity skills that she seems like she ought to be a major star with QAW's product settings.</p><p> </p><p>

I think the part that really makes Brooke Tyler stand out for me is that - unless she's playing completely stupid, and it didn't read that way - is that she legitimately doesn't understand that she's incredibly rude and says a lot of crappy things about people. The idea that she "doesn't understand what it's like not to be special" and that she's just blunt and giving out "tough love" is such a great hook for a heel, because it provides such a perfect justification of why they're such a jerk besides "because heel".</p><p> </p><p>

It also strikes me as a pathway for her to turn face. I mean, the Rock never stopped being a total a-hole. He just did so in ways that were really, really funny and to people who kind of deserved him running them down. If I may show my age and reference the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" TV show, Brooke could be a Cordelia or a Anya - the blunt truth-teller of the group who is willing to make everyone acknowledge the elephant in the room.</p><p> </p><p>

I owe you a prediction. Hopefully that'll come tonight!</p>

<p>Ah, that makes me happy I picked Brooke. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Not sure if she's become as big of a locker room cancer in this universe, but even if not, that's almost exactly how I pictured her acting in real life.</p><p> </p><p>

The flip side is that at her age, she really is just that damn good, and depending on her Star Quality, can pick up the mantle of J-Ro/Sara Marie York/Raven Nightfall when those wrestlers start retiring. I'm thinking it's going to be a big year to come for the blue chipper.</p>

Dark Match: Maria Guest vs Thea Davis vs Darkness Cat vs Joella Parent

Think Maria is in a good place to start breaking out of the undercard.

Dark Match: Juana Huracán vs Selina Svelte

Svelte might be the lesser of the talents in The Uprising, but she's still a very good technical wrestler and very usable.

Dark Match: Alexis Lee vs Laura Flame

Another wrestler with a lot of upside, and Alexis Lee seems to mostly be spinning her tires at present.

Opener: Maribel Mercado vs Mystery Opponent

Since Maribel is associated with Paige Croft via the Princesses of Pain, I think Cherry Bomb is going to take out Croft's little buddy. Of course, Croft won't actually care about Maribel's health, but it's not a bad strategy overall.

Match 2: Kitsune Warriors (Ariwara & Arihyoshi) vs Special Edition (Sweet & Young)

Special Edition would look even more special with gold around their waists. I think they get a solid W here.

Match 3: Pamela Rojovs Purple Viper © for the Shockwave Title

It is time for the reign of All Red Everything. Viper's not really doing a ton with the title, and Rojo deserves a shot to see what she looks like as a champion.

Match 4: Foxxy LaRue vs Talia Quinzel

Talia's getting there, but she's not on Foxxy's level yet. They both have a brawling style, if I remember, so I think this could be what Good Ol' JR would call a "slobberknocker".

Main Event: Team to be announced vs Dogs of War © (Capitano & Kass) for the Tag Team Titles

I think Capitano and Kass are bigger than the belts, so this new team relieves them of the belts and perhaps initiates a face turn for one of the Dogs, which I'd guess would be Capitano since I don't think Kass has a lot of Face skills?

Bonus Questions:

- Which will be the match of the night? Main event tag match

- Dharma Gregg give the Dogs of War an “easy challenge” for their tag team titles. Who are the challengers? (It's a team on the existing roster) I don't see either Christy Higgins or Teresa Perez on the card, so, Bubblegum Brawlers?

- How many title changes happens during the night? 2 - calling an upset for the mystery challengers, since you can probably put the tag belts on people lower down the card. However it happens, it'll be a VERY protected loss.

Tie Breaker: The show sets a new attendance record for QAW. What is the attendance (old record was 8,161) 8,323

Dark Match 1: Maria Guest vs Thea Davis vs Darkness Cat vs Joella Parent

Joella goes out to the ring with a loud exclamation of “Again?”, but in the ring, not much has changed. She tries her best to cheat to stay in the game, but she’s basically a punching bag for the more established Maria Guest and Thea Davis. Thea gets occupied outside the ring for a while by Darkness Cat and fails to prevent Maria from stealing the win when Joella’s fighting spirit runs out and she quickly taps out to Maria’s Figure Four lock.

One of the better pre-show matches in recent memory, Alexis and Laura puts on a great show that manages to get the fans involved despite most not even having gotten their butt in their seat yet. Momentum shift back and forth, they get to show off some of their best moves, and it’s not clear who’s going to win until stumbles to her feet after having eaten a DDT, and steps right into a Flame Fire Kick, followed by a 1-2-3 from Erin Lawrence.

A shamisen is playing a traditional melody in the background as the camera sweeps through what appears to be an old-fashioned Japanese mansion seemingly in the point of view perspective of some unknown person whose footsteps we just barely can hear - past a rock garden where a quiet rain provide an atmospheric backdrop, into a corridor with sliding paper screens on both sides, into a large but poorly lit room, just a group of flickering candles preventing the room from being pitch dark.

Changing camera angle, we see a masked man sitting perfectly still, perhaps meditating. He’s sitting before a small ancestor altar which a careful observer can see show reverence to photos of several masked figures and in the background a champion’s belt hangs. A sliver of smoke rise peacefully from a stick of incense sitting in a clay bowl on the altar.

http://i.imgur.com/0QWezcK.jpg  http://i.imgur.com/xYuulxj.jpg

Behind the masked man, Higa appears as the one the camera followed a moment ago, also masked but recognizable. She takes a knee behind him bending her head deferentially. She speaks to him in Japanese, sub-titled for our benefit.

“Master, I have returned.”

“What do you have to report?”

“I am sorry master. It has been a difficult mission. I struggle.”

His voice is balanced and measured, revealing neither anger nor disappointment at the admission of failure.

“What about the relics?”

“The Jaguar clan holds one of them. One is held by an unwitting puppet of theirs. The third is held by a neutral part, ignorant of the war, naturally hostile to both sides.”

“And we are not close to claiming any of them?”

“The priestess of the Fox God is in position to claim the most prestigious of them.”

“An ally, if somewhat unpredictable. I hear disapproval in your voice. Why?”

“She takes neither the war nor her role seriously. If she is our ally, I despair.”

He considers her words in silence, taking his time before he answers.

“Life is a series of tests. Collaborating with a spirit of the fox may be one of the tests on your path. Be patient. Now, tell me why you have returned.”

“Master, I have tested myself against their best and have fallen short. I have returned because I seek your training.”

“Let’s use the time you have here well because you need to return soon.”

With that, the scene transitions into a training montage where Higa is fighting ninjas, doing balance and acrobatic exercises, ending with a concentration exercise, meditating under a waterfall.

Stepping out of the cold looking water, Higa is met by the master.

“Your time here is up. While you’ve been gone, a sister-in-arms of yours has been keeping tabs on the enemy. She’s rash and inexperienced, and I’m concerned she might end up in trouble.”

“I thought I sensed someone watching me,” Higa responds, cocking her head.

Match 1: Masked Stranger vs Maribel Mercado

Cut back to the ring, a female ninja in garb very similar to Higa’s is in battle stance, facing off against Maribel Mercado, who looks confused at the opponent who has appeared in front of her. As the bell rings, the two put on a display on all flips and very little fists. Hurricanrana after hurricanrana, springboard moves and attacks from the top turnbuckle moves. It is however a failed senton splash from the ninja warrior leaving her open to a simple penalty kick and a quick roll up from Maribel with a firm grip of tights for the three-count.

Cut to Farrah Hesketh, who is standing with Foxxy LaRue in the interview position backstage.

Farrah: You have challenged Talia Quinzel to a match tonight. Why?

Foxxy: She seems to have made it her mission to make a mockery of the traditions of wrestling. We go into the ring one on one, two against two in order to measure our abilities against each other. I don’t understand her motivations, but frankly, I don’t care. I’m going to put a stop to it.

Farrah: What do you expect from your match?

Foxxy: Talia might be the strongest wrestler in QAW pound for pound. If I go toe to toe with her, I don’t know how long I will last. I’ll have to use the things I have that she lacks.

Farrah: Like what?

Foxxy: I have more tricks in my tool box than Talia can imagine. I have ring experience. When I won my first World title Talia was still playing with Barbie dolls. And I have the most crucial thing she lacks, which is heart. This place means something to me, while Talia despise it. I will bleed to defend QAW.

Bossman: Pleasure to be here, Al. Well, you know me. I’m in wrestling to make a good deal and I’ve been looking for a while for the next one. I think I may have found it.

Alfonso: If you’re thinking of Chitose Ariwara, I’m sorry Bossman, but you’re not the first to discover that she’s pretty good.

Bossman: Erhm, yeah, you might be right about that. We’ll see.

Match 2: Kitsune Warriors (Ariwara & Arihyoshi) vs Special Edition (Sweet & Young)

While Foxxy was being interviewed, Kitsune Warriors and Special Edition has both entered the ring. Charity starts in the ring, but when Kitsune Warriors sends out Contender Series winner Chitose Ariwara, Charity tags out and the imposing Deborah Young steps into the ring instead.

The Japanese luchadora looks intimidated, but only in so much that she makes no attempt to take on Young head on, dodging any attempt from Young to lock up, wheeling through the ring for the opportunity to attack through the air. Ariwara looks fluid and impressive, but it is questionable how much damage she does to Young, and springboard cross body gets caught in the air and Chitose is power slammed into the mat. Young goes to pin, Etsuko rushes to break the pin, Charity tries to interfere but Etsuko slips under Charity’s clothesline and throws herself at Deborah in what first looks like a hurricanrana, a move Etsuko isn’t known for, but as she slips through the ropes she has seemlessly turned it into a gnarly armbar, hanging out of the ring with all her weight on Deborah Young’s arm. Deborah screams in pain, the referee counts, demanding Etsuko release her grip. Seeing the referee being distracted, Charity Sweet takes the opportunity to rake Chitose across the eyes, leaving Chitose blinded just in time as Etsuko is forced to release Deborah from her grip and the referee asks Charity to return to her ring corner. Deborah immediately tags, and together they deliver their combo, the Sweet Annihilation (basically an assisted fisherman driver delivered by Deborah, assisted by Charity from the top turnbuckle).

Chitose looks like she’s done, but somehow gets a shoulder up just in time. The referee gets Deborah out of the ring and Charity starts working on Chitose, putting her in a choke hold she doesn’t look completely comfortable with and soon abandons it for something flashier. Climbing to the top rope, Charity goes for a 450 splash, but Chitose manages to get her knees up, sending Charity bouncing halfway across the ring like a rag doll. Chitose crawls toward her ring corner, painfully slowly, and Charity does the same. Deborah tags in just a second before Etsuko, but it’s enough that when Etsuko steps into the ring, she’s met by a spear straight back into her ring corner. When Chitose weakly tries to help her friend, Deborah gives her a left hook that drops Chitose off the ring apron into a lifeless pile on the floor.

With Chitose out of action, Deborah delivers a couple of power slams, tag in Charity and holds up Etsuko for an assisted Sugar Smack. Charity pins Etsuko for the 1-2-3.

Charity and Deborah slips out quickly while Chitose and Etsuko recovers. They have just started their way up the ramp when suddenly Paige Croft and Maribel Mercado come rushing down the ramp. In their weakened state, Etsuko and Chitose struggles to put up much of a fight as Maribel locks in an STF, forcing a helpless Etsuko to watch as Paige starts working the right arm of Chitose.

http://i.imgur.com/GkDopuh.jpg

Things look grim, until a smoke bomb goes off near the ring, and when the smoke clears, the mysterious ninja from earlier has Maribel Mercado in a Muta lock, leaving Etsuko free to help Chitose. Giving the Paige a drop kick to separate her from Chitose, Etsuko looks fired up as she does a pretty good job of holding off the world champion, until Paige sees Chitose getting back to her feet. Realizing it’s now turning into a two on one, Paige holds up her hands in front of her, backing up the ramp, leaving Maribel to her fate.

First now noticing their masked saviour, Chitose looks to Etsuko with a questioning look, but she shrugs her shoulders like she doesn’t know who it is. The ninja give the two a thumbs up, let’s Maribel go and as another smoke bomb goes off, she’s gone.

Match 3: Pamela Rojo vs Purple Viper © for the Shockwave title

While Rojo and Purple Viper in no way seems to be on friendly terms, they share a brief hand gesture like a more subtle “too sweet”, almost too quick to notice before the match begins.

Rojo swings big, Purple Viper slips past, taunting Rojo with her speed. The match becomes a contrast of styles as Pamela works a traditional power based style with lots of basic throws while Purple Viper uses her speed to catch Rojo off-balance. She keeps working the knees of Rojo with low kicks and every time there is the slightest distraction she takes the opportunity to get a low blow in. The general feeling though is that Pamela Rojo bit for bit is knocking the fight out of Purple Viper and it looks like she might be able to take the belt.

The match ends suddenly when Purple Viper rolls up Pamela with a wheelbarrow victory roll, which Pamela counters and Purple Viper counters *again*, this time making use of the ropes for leverage, which the referee Dale Kenney doesn’t notice as he counts out Pamela Rojo, 1-2-3.

Going backstage, Pamela Rojo goes straight into a video call with Dharma Gregg who is sitting in a sun chair by a pool at what looks like a luxury resort.

“I assume the sky is falling, since you’re disturbing me in the middle of my vacation?” Dharma says, taking a sip from a Daiquiri.

“I want a rematch. The finish to that Shockwave title match was total b.s. I had her, and then that blind referee of yours let her cheat to win.” Pamela is so angry, her face matches her hair.

Dharma waves her hand dismissively in the air. “The referee calls the match the way he sees it. That’s the way wrestling works. I can’t change his call now.”

“I know that. Give me a rematch and I won’t let her get to me like that again.”

“Pamela, that’s not how things work, you know that. You’re a contender, you get one shot. There are many in line wanting a shot at the Shockwave title and if I started giving two chances to every contender, there would be an uproar. Now, if you don’t have anything else on your mind, I’m really quite busy. Have a good day, Pamela.” With that, Dharma cuts off the call, and Pamela is left to stew on her own.

Match 4: Foxxy LaRue vs Talia Quinzel

As the two competitors get in the ring - first Foxxy, then Talia - there’s a big match feeling in the arena, two fighters who know they are good, but equally that there is an opponent that will force them to be at the top of their game.

When the bell rings, Talia makes a point of taking the center of the ring, indicating at Foxxy to come at her instead of dancing around. It seems to please Talia immensely that she can paint Foxxy with the ‘coward’ brush, and Foxxy seems to realize that even though she’s being baited, she can’t decline the challenge, and so she throws herself into a grappling match. Talia throws Foxxy to the mat, but she drags Talia with her. It becomes clear that neither is really looking for submission holds, though the occasional rest hold is used - both are much more interested in finding room to rain down fists at the other. Foxxy seems a little more adept at the mat work, but Talia’s punches are brutal.

http://i.imgur.com/vzm4Q0V.jpg

There is some separation, and the match goes into another phase, where the two trade momentum followed by throws, and in the case of Foxxy, the occasional turn buckle move. It’s a successful drop elbow from the top turnbuckle (after a couple of failed attempts) that shifts the momentum firmly in Foxxy’s favor, when Claire Winters walk down the ramp. Referee Erin Lawrence tells her to go away, warns her not to interfere, but Claire approaches the ring and steps up on the ring apron, challenging Foxxy to come at her. When Foxxy does go to knock her off the ring apron, Claire jumps back with a smirk, satisfied to have provided the diversion needed for Talia to get back on her feet, and when Foxxy turns around, she’s met with a big boot to the head, sending Foxxy flying like a ragdoll through the ring. For the next couple of minutes, Foxxy barely makes an attempt at defending herself as Talia goes through a set of neck breakers, power slams and an electric chair driver that she figures to be enough for the win as she pins Foxxy, but on two and a half, Foxxy weakly kicks out.

Frustrated at Foxxy’s resilience, Talia lifts her up in a package for the Spinal Trauma, but Foxxy puts on a last ditch defense, kicking Talia in the head a couple of times before slipping out of the grip behind Talia and driving her backwards into the mat with an inverted bulldog. Taking off for the ropes to deliver a penalty kick, Talia manages to roll out of the way and out of the ring. When Foxxy climbs through the ropes to the outside, ready to leap after Talia, Claire shows up acting like a shield for Talia. Foxxy considers for a moment, then jumps off the ring apron, delivering a hurricanrana on Claire who flies into the crowd barricades from the attack, and looks out of it.

Foxxy looks like she’s hurt herself too, and Talia is on her in no time, beating down on her with her fists before grabbing hold of Foxxy’s afro, using the grip to bang Foxxy’s head into the ring post, over and over, lifts her up in a package and delivers the Spinal Trauma on the arena floor before rolling into the ring, and Talia watches as Foxxy struggles to get up before the ten count, but she only gets as far as putting a hand on the ring apron before Erin Lawrence counts her out.

Laura Flame carries out the Bad Girls Club banner, takes post at the top of the ramp as Capitano and Killer Kass walk out with the tag team titles, Capitano with her around her waist, Kass with her slung over her shoulder. Capitano trash talks booing fans all the way down to the ring, proclaiming confidently that they will have been made turncoats by the end of the night, bowing before the Bad Girls. Fact of the matter is, a large contingent of fans already wear the Bad Girls Club merchandise.

Kass and Capitano does not get much time in the ring before they’re interrupted by a new theme.

To big pop, the video screens starts flashing:

Christy Higgins and Teresa Perez step out on the ramp, pose together in matching American Sweethearts ring gear. Teresa points at the champions in the ring, Christy nods and they both sprint to the ring, sliding in and gets up in Capitano and Kass’ faces which lasts until Kass pushes Teresa halfway through the ring leading Christy to dropkick Kass halfway through the ropes.

We cut to the big screen. Block letters inform us we’re watching a flashback to earlier the same day.

Capitano and Killer Kass are backstage, a video link connecting them to Dharma Gregg who seems to be pool side at some Carribean resort.

“Seriously,” Capitano says. “We’re busting our asses over here, and you go south to lap Daiquiris?”

“I figured a group adults could manage without leadership for a few days. As soon as the final match last week was booked, I left for this lovely little boutique hotel by Montego Bay. You know what the best thing about it is?”

Capitano shakes her head. “No, *please* tell me.”

“It’s really expensive.”

“Why is that the best thing about it?”

“Because it means dirty rabble like the kind that visits our wrestling shows can’t possibly afford to come here. Guests here have class, Capitano. Anyway, so I thought about what you said about retiring the tag team titles, to make you ‘immortal’. Well, before I even consider something like that, you need to show me you are without doubt the greatest tag team to ever hold those belts first.”

Kass grumbles. “We are, and you know that. If there was a time machine, we’d go back and beat any previous title holders. We know it, you know it.”

Dharma rolls her eyes so hard they threaten to come out of their sockets. “You really should stop spending time close to the nerds in the locker room. I didn’t think it was possible but it seems to be contagious. No, we don’t need time machines to compare champions with each other. How do we measure champions? By the length of their reign and the number of successful title defenses. And you have some way to go in either of those categories.”

Kass looks like she wants to break Dharma in two. Capitano more composed, asks. “So who holds these records you mean we need to beat?”

“Glad you asked. Back when Juana Huracán was a pragmatic wrestler rather than an idealist one she was part of a tag team called Crackdown, together with Toni Parissi who is no longer with the company. Together, they hold basically every record there is for tag teams in this company. Longest reign, most days total as champions, most consecutive successful title defenses, most successful title defenses total during a career...I’m sure I forget some. So if you want to become an immortal tag team, come back to me when you have broken the first one of them - I guess either ten consecutive months with the titles, or thirteen straight successful title defenses are the most achievable.”

“Alright, so 13 defenses. Big deal. We’re at eight already. Start giving us matches and we’ll get there in no time, and we can start talking what kind of money record holding tag team champions ought to make,” Kass says.

Dharma takes a sip from her colorful drink, nodding.

“I figured as much. Let me give you an easy match for you to build your streak. A couple of wrestlers that can’t stand each other. Christy Higgins and Teresa Perez, a k a the Bubblegum Brawlers. Given that they tried to kill each other last week, assuming they didn’t succeed, it should be amusing to see them try to cooperate tonight.”

“Er, you didn’t watch their match, did you,” Kass says, her eyes narrowing.

“No gods no. Like you said. Sipping Mai Tais,” she says, pointing at her glass. “Good luck ladies, I have a lot to do here, got to go,” Dharma says, and before either Kass or Capitano has time to respond, Dharma has cut the call.

Main Event: Bubblegum Brawlers (Higgins & Perez) vs The Dogs of War © for the Tag Team titles

As soon as the previous segment ends, the bell rings and Capitano and Christy Higgins crash together in the center of the ring, initially going through a long sequence of chained moves that ends with Capitano arm dragging Christy into her own ring corner, hitting the turnbuckle upside down. She’s not terribly hurt, but Teresa offers her hand for a tag in and Christy takes the offer. Teresa goes for a springboard move off the top rope, Capitano gets out of the way, Teresa does a slick parkour shoulder roll to standing taking her nearly all the way to opposite ring corner where she give Kass an elbow, enough to knock her off the ring apron.

It does leave her with her back to Capitano, who chops her down from behind and the next few minutes become an uphill struggle for Teresa as Capitano starts working her methodically with rest holds, targetted attacks against Teresa’s knee. She irish whips Teresa into enemy ring corner where Kass holds her in place while Capitano make her run up from neutral ring corner for the drop kick. Teresa somehow manages to slip out of the way and Capitano’s drop kick between top and middle rope hits Kass and leaves Capitano stuck in the ropes. Teresa drags herself toward her partner while Kass and Capitano argues over whose fault it was. Kass eventually tags herself in with a loud slap on Capitano’s back, she tries to catch Teresa before she makes the tag, it’s close, close, but hands meet, and Christy steps into the ring, intent on keeping Kass off balance with drop kicks and arm drags, but it’s a little like dancing around in front of a locomotive. Eventually, you’ll get hit. Christy goes for a hurricanrana, but Kass just picks her out of the air, shifts her weight around a bit before dropping her neck first on Kass’ knee. Christy bounce through the ring like a rubber toy, eventually coming to rest by the ropes. As Kass goes to pick her up, Christy rolls out of the way under the ropes. When Kass tries to get her back into the ring, Christy manages to drop off the ring apron, snapping Kass’ neck against the middle rope.

With Christy recovering outside the ring and Kass catching her breath inside it, Christy fails to notice Capitano on the prowl, but Teresa has her in her sights, and she has climbed the top turnbuckle. Capitano is just about to grab hold of the still dazed Higgins when Teresa come flying, the diving hurricanrana sends Capitano crashing into the audience, and Teresa pretty much knocking herself out as well. Suddenly, the only wrestler even remotely ready to go is Kass who has been working up a rather bad temper by now. She climbs out of the ring and start working Christy’s arm against a crowd barrier. Christy screams in pain as Kass twists her hand and arm around the metal bars.

Elsewhere, Teresa is getting up, nursing both neck and elbow. When she sees Kass attacking Christy, something dark passes over her, and she charges Kass with everything she got, sending Kass head first into the barrier she was using to hurt Christy. Seeing that Kass is out, Teresa turns to Capitano who suddenly looks alarmed at the situation especially as it’s not only Teresa, but Christy is slowly getting up as well. When Teresa jumps up on the crowd barrier and launches herself in some kind of improvised springboard cross body, Capitano hits her out of the air with a steel chair. Erin Lawrence doesn’t hesitate, and calls the match over.

Announcer Alfonso Garcia calls out. “Winners by disqualification, Bubblegum Brawlers. Still reigning tag team champions, the Dogs of War!”

It's after the show, in the rafters, Etsuko Arihyoshi has found a spot of her own where she can be alone while still watching practically the whole arena from above. She's wrapped her arms around her knees, pressed up against her chest. She looks small, and melancholic.

"I was told I could find you up here," a voice says from behind her. She doesn't respond. After a moment of silence, Bossman Brayfield steps up next to her.

"My apologies for disturbing the peace. Is it ok if I sit down?" he asks.

"It's ok," she says surprised at the polite request. Then adds, "What do you want?"

He chuckles. "Blunt and to the point. Let me tell you a little about myself, so you understand where I come from. 30 years ago, I got my first job in the wrestling industry. Aside of a few years before Farrah started QAW, I've worked with indie wrestling ever since. I've sold tickets, I've been a booker, a general manager. If there is one thing I have learned over the years, it is to recognize talent. And you've got it, lots and lots of under utilized talent."

She looks at him for the first time. She was around when he was known as the rather corrupt general manager of QAW, before he was demoted, so certain doubts about his intentions would not be misplaced. "Thank you, but so what? I can't win a match to save my life, so what good is 'talent' going to do?"

"I am confident I could change all that if you let me help you."

She gives him a puzzled look, prompting him to go on.

"Etsuko, I want to be your manager. Making you a champion could be my last contribution to this industry."

"A...champion?" she says as if trying out how the word sits in her mouth for the first time.

<p>I am 100% onboard with Ninja Higa. This really feels like a unique storyline with a ton of possibilities where it could go, so consider me hyped.</p><p> </p><p>

Ah, my inability to predict a Perez match bites me again. I have to remember that these are weekly shows instead of monthly. I had an easier time doing this during the Contender's Series, so hopefully I can refocus starting with this show. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

Dark Match 1: <strong>Jillian Jarvis</strong> vs Thea Davis</p><p>

Dark Match 2: <strong>Pamela Rojo</strong> vs Joella Parent</p><p> </p><p>

Opener: <strong>Foxxy LaRue & The New Wave</strong> vs Purple Viper, Anderson & Snyder in a 6-man tag team match</p><p>

<em>Alexis probably needs a win bad as it sounds like she is complaining about her booking. Maria as a negative influence is unfortunate but hopefully she doesn't screw herself over too much.</em></p><p>

Match 2: <strong>Birds of Prey (Higa & Oonishi)</strong> vs Princesses of Pain (Croft & Mercado)</p><p>

<em>Birds of Prey! Man, this is tough. I think Higa and Oonishi need the momentum, but being in South East, they won't pick up the popularity that would normally come with beating Paige. Ah, let's say this ends in a DQ.</em></p><p>

Match 3: Juana Huracán vs <strong>Brooke Tyler</strong></p><p>

<em>So, I changed my pick three times, but I'll go with Tyler's push really getting moving here.</em></p><p>

Match 4: <strong>Bubblegum Brawlers (Higgins & Perez)</strong> vs The Untouchables (Quinzel & Winters)</p><p>

<em>Higgins and Perez keep the momentum going into a rematch against Dogs of War.</em></p><p>

Main Event: <strong>Cherry Bomb</strong> vs Capitano</p><p>

<em>Ah, South East, Cherry can pick up a nice win without hurting Capitano. This really is a great use of Cherry, and I hope her destiny roll doesn't have her already in a steep decline physically at this point.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Bonus Question:</p><p>

- Which is the Match of the Night? <strong>Cherry Bomb vs Capitano</strong>, though Juana Huracán vs Brooke Tyler has a chance to be sneaky good.</p><p>

- Is the show sold out? Hell yes!</p><p> </p><p>

Tie Breaker: What's the event rating? (Last time in the South-East, we got a 59) I'll say <strong>65</strong>, with Cherry being relatively over in the South-East.</p>

By the time they extricate themselves, Joella has nothing much left to put up against Pamela’s physical dominance, and is brought down with a running powerbomb.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Teresa Perez and Christy Higgins have walked in to the ring to the tune of their theme song We Are Rebels, and are now receiving the adulation of the fans, both with microphones in their hands, patiently waiting for the fans to calm down.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“So last week, we were fortunate to be given a shot at the tag team titles,” Christy says.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I don’t know if anyone expected much, but if Capitano had not been such a coward and provoked a disqualification, Bubblegum Brawlers would have been champions today.” Teresa continues.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“No matter who has the belts today, fact of the matter stands - me and Teresa won against Dogs of War. If they had any honor, they would give us a rematch. But since we know they don’t, we appeal to Dharma Gregg to arrange the match. Or what do you say?” Christy say, holding out the microphone toward the crowd that roar out their agreement.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Moments later, music hits and Dharma Gregg walks out.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/2sYuUTT.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dharma stops at the top of the ramp. She actually looks a bit embarrassed.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Look, I don’t know if there’s any other way to say this, but...I booked you in that match as a joke. There are no rematch clauses for random challengers who by technicality happen to record a win against the champions.“</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“That’s such crap, but I’ve stopped expecting anything else from you.” Teresa says.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

An evil smile crosses Dharma’s face. “I do have an opportunity for you. A meeting with a pair of dear friends. At Scars and Stripes, The Dogs of War will defend their tag team titles. Just beat Talia Quinzel and Claire Winters tonight, and you get the open spot in that title match. Lose, and I don’t want to hear a word from you again about title matches.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Teresa and Christy share a glance before Christy answers, with a smile. “Oh Dharma, I don’t think you realize what a favor you just did us. You deliver our nemeses to us on a platter. Thank you, Dharma, thank you.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Dharma looks blankly at them, before shrugging. “Well, don’t come complaining later. You got what you wanted.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match 1: Foxxy LaRue & The New Wave (Lee & Guest) vs Purple Viper, Anderson & Snyder, best of three falls</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Purple Viper come into the ring with the swagger that befits a champion and does not miss the opportunity to push it in the face of her opponents. As unofficial leader of their team, Foxxy defers to Maria Guest to start the match and Purple Viper starts the match in the ring. Taking no time to feel out their opponent, the wrestling immediately reach breakneck speed, which comes to a screeching halt when Maria goes to the top rope, teasing a diving elbow drop to excited murmurs from the crowd, until Purple Viper rather than lie and take it slowly starts rolling toward the opposite corner of the ring until she’s clearly out of range of any aerial attacks. Looking almost offended at this unwillingness to “stick to the script”, Maria jumps down from the turnbuckle again, runs across the ring, takes the opportunity to give Viper a good stomp to the mid-section before climbing up the turnbuckle nearest her target. Only, once she is in position to jump off, Purple Viper once again rolls out of range, to equal parts boos at being denied the spot and laughter at the unconventional tactic. When Maria once again jumps off the turnbuckle to take on Viper up close, the heel is ready, catches Maria off-balance and rolls her up for a surprise pinfall with a firm grip on Maria’s tights. Purple Viper runs off to her ring corner celebrating taking the lead while Maria loudly complaints to Dale Kenney, the referee about the rules infraction.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

1-0 up, Purple Viper tags in Lily Snyder instead while Maria gives Foxxy the nod. Lily immediately struggles to keep up with Foxxy who is on fire. Lily does her best to wear down Foxxy, but she’s always a fraction to slow, and it feels like every irish whip backfires. After a pumphandle slam, Foxxy pins Lily, but at the last moment notices Purple Viper has climbed the turnbuckle, and as she goes for the Swanton bomb to break the pin, Foxxy deftly rolls out of the way, causing Lily Snyder to take the full brunt of the landing. Alexis Lee rushes in and throws Viper out of the ring while Foxxy covers Lily for the second pin of the match, tying up the score at 1-1.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Being the only one fresh left on her team, Ava goes into the ring with the idea to destroy Foxxy while she’s still catching her breath from fighting Lily. She gets to display a crisp Dragon suplex, but when she goes to follow it up, Foxxy shows her class, countering into an inverted facelock, while inching her way back to friendly ring corner where Maria Guest tags in before jumping to the top rope, from where she double boot stomp Ava, still held in place by Foxxy, then goes for the simple pin.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Maria Guest wins by pinfall in 12:53</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/9pIGoQA.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

We cut to a filmed segment, a dimly lit room, looking like a throne room from out of a different time, decorated in furs and gold. We get a camera angle from to the right of a throne, not seeing who’s sitting in it, except for a pair of well shaped legs stretching out.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

From the shadows, Pamela Rojo approaches the throne, stopping at a respectful distance.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

A well manicured hand indicates Rojo has permission to speak, which she does, in spanish. For our benefit, the video is subtitled.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“My queen,” she says. “You know I have not always agreed with your way of governing the clan, but even in disagreement, I have always put the clan first and subjected myself to your will. Now I come to you to ask that my loyalty is rewarded.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The woman on the throne speaks with a lazy, arrogant tone. “Bold, my red warrior. What is it you request?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Another of your subjects, the snake Purple Viper cheated me out of a chance to win the title that belongs to the worthiest of the luchadoras.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“The title the Americanos call the ‘Shockwave’? It is that important to you?”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“My queen! I am a warrior of the clan, and I am a luchadora. The Shockwave title proves my worth in service to you. It should matter to you as much as it does to you.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Very well. I will pull the strings necessary. You will have your match at the event they call Scars and Stripes.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Thank you, your majesty,” Pamela says and bows as the camera fades to black.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“What do you mean you’ve booked me in a match? You said I’d get to rest myself into shape for the title match?” Paige Croft is in gorilla position, Maribel waiting behind her as Paige complains to Dharma Gregg.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You said you were hurt, and I wanted the company’s champion to have a fair chance to perform at her best. Then you show up and assault your challenger. I think that voids your protection.” Dharma says.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You’re supposed to be on my side!” Paige yells, but Dharma just shrugs. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“I’m on the company’s side, Paige. You are a great asset to us, but you are not the only one. Hurt the product, and you will eventually find you are on your own.” </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Paige stares at Dharma with a look that reminds of a child being told her parents doesn’t love her. Maribel in the background can’t help but crack a smile that screams of schadenfreude. It’s gone as quickly before Paige can notice.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match 2: Birds of Prey (Higa & Oonishi) vs Princesses of Pain (Croft & Mercado)</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">Maribel is in Gemmei’s face as soon as she sees the ninja that interrupted her assault on Chitose and Etsuko the previous week. They both start in the ring as the bell rings, going through a quick sequence of chained wrestling moves ending with Maribel release suplexing Gemmei who flips in the air, landing on her feet. When Maribel turns around, Gemmei is there with a super kick laying out her opponent to particular cheers from the young girls in the audience, clearly connecting with Gemmei. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

As she goes on to capitalize on her advantage, she eventually gets too close to the enemy corner of the ring and is hit by a boot to the head from Paige. Maribel takes the opportunity to tag out and leaves Paige to work over Gemmei. Aware of the deadly submission specialist, Gemmei does everything in her power to stay on her feet and at range, but Paige quickly wears her down, and soon Paige is wrapped around Gemmei’s left leg, twisting the ankle in unnatural ways to Gemmei’s cries of pain. It looks like the end, but Paige does not notice Higa going top rope, and once she notices, she’s entangled with Gemmei and unable to move as Higa drops a diving elbow in her chest. Higa returns to her corner in time for Gemmei to hobble over to her for the tag. Paige struggles to her knees just in time to eat a german suplex. Higa rush Maribel to get her out of the picture but she manages to dodge Higa’s punch. Paige takes the brief respite to get to her feet, just in time for Higa to rush in for a drop kick, but Paige stumbles out of the way. Looking at Higa hurting on the mat she hesitates for a moment, but rather than go for a hold, she makes a gesture suggesting she doesn’t care and gets back to her ring corner tagging in Maribel instead. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Having squandered any momentum there might have been in Higa’s failed drop kick, Maribel is met by a charging Higa who spears Maribel half back out of the ring again, then keeps working her up against the ropes until Higa sprints across the ring, bounces of the ropes and as Maribel stumbles out into the ring, Higa gets her with the Higa Green Driver, planting Maribel face first in the mat. After that, the pin is a formality.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match 3: Juana Huracán vs Brooke Tyler</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">It’s not an I Quit match, but it might as well be, as they after a brief start of the match where they exchange some punches, elbows and knife chops get into a surprisingly engaging, almost entirely mat-based struggle for the best submission hold. Armbars are traded for leglocks, leglocks for facelocks in a seemlingly endless series of holds, until Juana seems to forget there are other things you can do with a waist lock, and Brooke deadlifts her to standing and german suplex her, never letting go, rolling around for another suplex, and a third, before she locks in the Brooke Breaker, bending Juana’s back in an unnatural way, and also putting pressure on the neck of Juana. With nowhere to go, Juana taps out.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Backstage, by gorilla position performers converge as they are about to go onstage. Here, Teresa Perez and Christy Higgins find themselves face to face with their nemeses Talia Quinzel and Claire Winters.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Quinzel snarls at them. “You two are like cockroaches, you just won’t go away. This time though, I’m done playing games. I’ll bury your career here.” Claire nods in agreement. “You’re garbage, and we’re taking you out!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Christy just looks at them, then at Teresa before shaking her head with a smile on her lips.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“You can’t get to me, Talia. I admit, there was a time when you got me off balance, but thanks to Teresa I’ve found my center again. Your cheap insults don’t get to me. Try your best in the ring because you will need it. The Bubblegum Brawlers stand more united than ever.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

With that, Teresa and Christy steps out to make their entrance.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Match 4: Bubblegum Brawlers (Higgins & Perez) vs The Untouchables (Quinzel & Winters)</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">Christy and Teresa looks composed in their ring corner, smaller than their opponents but confident and supportive of each other. It’s hard to believe they were trying to kill each other just two weeks ago. In the other corner, Claire is giving encouragement to Talia: “Kill them, Talia! Kill them!”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

It is Teresa that goes on the offense as soon as the bell rings, using the ropes to put up an incredible pace in the ring, dodging clotheslines before sending Talia sprawling with a running drop kick. While it looks spectacular, Talia slowly gets up, seemingly more angry than hurt.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Teresa goes for a hurricanrana, but Talia simply catches her out of the air, lifts her over her head in a display of her impressive strength, and drops her face first into the mat, then goes on to work on Teresa’s knee with elbow drops, knee drops before going for a cloverleaf, putting Teresa’s hurt leg in a vise. Teresa screams in pain, tries to roll through but Talia’s balance is too good. Inch by inch, she claws her way towards the ropes. Talia tries to drag her into the middle of the ring again, but that’s the opportunity Teresa needs to roll through and out of the hold. She crawls toward Christy for the tag, but Talia is on her in no time grabbing her from behind. Teresa goes for Talia’s face with elbows over and over until the heel lets go out of self-preservation, while Teresa leaps to her ring corner and tags in Christy. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Still a little dazed from being elbowed in the face, Talia swings for Christy but the attack is easily dodged as Christy steps in close and sling blades Talia hard to the mat. She goes to knock Claire off the ring apron but is rewarded with a rake across the eyes for the trouble. Stumbling away she meets Talia who is wobbly herself, but throws Christy into the middle of the ring with an underhook suplex more as a way to get her out of the way as Talia goes to tag in Claire.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

The two goes back and forth for minutes, Claire pushing Christy around, with simple but powerful slams and attacks that really suggest how powerful she is, but the standout effect is how resilient and never-say-die Christy is. Seeing her get up once again, Claire goes for a running knee, sending Christy tumbling through the ring landing by the ropes. When Claire looks to pick her up, Christy holds on to the rope, starting to fight back, at first just pushing Claire away, but when Claire rush in again, Christy trips her with a drop toe-hold into the bottom rope giving her valuable time to recover. When Claire gets up, she’s met by Christy who delivers a running dropkick, having Claire bounce off the ropes and collapse into the ring. Christy leaps to the top turnbuckle, tagging in Teresa on the way. As Claire starts to stir, Teresa applies the Around the World armbar, and Christy raise her hands in the air, declaring to the crowd it’s time to fly. Claire and Christy’s eyes meet, but stuck in Teresa’s armbar, Claire can struggle, but she’s going nowhere as Christy delivers the Florida Uprising - a top rope flipping leg drop. Immediately afterwards, Teresa let’s go of the armbar and makes the pin, for the 1-2-3.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Tired and bruised but euphoric, Christy and Teresa make their way up the ramp off stage when Capitano with Killer Kass in tow come down the ramp. Alarmed, Christy and Teresa take a defensive stance on unsteady legs, clearly not fit to take on these opponents, but Capitano just scoffs, like the two aren’t worth the time. Sensing the danger’s over, the Bubblegum Brawlers breathe a sigh of relief and let their guard down, and that’s when the Dogs of War strike, each giving a toe kick to the mid-section, hooking both arms and delivers two synchronised pedigrees.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Kass looks like she wants to continue the destruction of the two, but Capitano waves her off. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Not worth it, Kass. More important tasks lie ahead.”</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Kass shrugs and follows Capitano to the ring.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Main Event: Cherry Bomb vs Capitano</strong></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>

</strong></div><div style="margin-left:25px;">With Kass at ring side, Cherry Bomb seems like she can’t take her eyes off Capitano’s second, giving Capitano valuable extra time, allowing her to keep the initiative for a good part of the match. Ever flamboyant, Capitano takes her opportunities to go for the top rope, and as long as she picks her moments, the risky moves pay off, much thanks to the distraction Kass provides, keeping Cherry Bomb unusually on edge. Capitano has shown before that she can handle bruisers, but when they come with the toughness and ring experience of someone like Cherry Bomb, it’s clear she’s uncomfortable, doing what she can to avoid getting exposed to Cherry’s more devastating attacks. </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

</div><span>http://i.imgur.com/SrJMR1G.jpg</span><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Despite the trouble Kass’ presence has caused Cherry, Kass has not taken any active part, and there comes a golden opportunity for her to interfere - Cherry is leaning against the ropes, Kass on the ring floor just behind her and referee Erin Lawrence distracted by a foreign object that had ended up in the ring. Capitano is prepared to launch herself at Cherry, but assistance from Kass would leave Cherry Bomb defenseless. Instead, Kass give the action a glance and just walks past. Capitano’s run in toward Cherry who is not being held back leaves her open to Cherry’s spear, knocking Capitano backwards into the center of the mat where Cherry Bomb proceeds to rain down blows to Capitano who barely notices that she has two shoulders down as the assault continues. The referee counts 1-2...and Capitano kicks out at the very last moment, but Cherry Bomb is on her instantly, lifting her around the waist and delivering a thunderous gutwrench power bomb. Again the referee counts, but Capitano kicks out. Cherry looks, if not shocked so at least surprised at Capitano’s resilience. Grabbing the Bad Girls Club leader by the neck, she gets her up and leads her over to the edge of the ring, facing Kass. Cherry holds up a ragged Capitano, showing her off to Killer Kass down below.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

“Today it’s her, tomorrow it’s your turn.” Cherry says, making a throat-slitting motion before delivering the same pedigree to Capitano that she gave Teresa Perez. She doesn’t even bother pinning her, going straight for the Cherry Bomb before pinning Capitano, this time for the 1-2-3.</div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;">

Another great show. I appreciate you updating the information in the first post. It's helpful to see where everybody is slotted on the card, especially when it comes to predictions. :D

I like the new pictures for title holders too. I think it adds a lot when these wrestlers aren't involved in a title match.

I'm glad to hear Cherry is still going strong. In the Phoenix-Verse (yeah, I'm calling it that now) she's nearing retirement with her stamina in sharp decline, so it would almost feel like a waste to give her such a strong push if that was the case here.

Nothing wrong with having straight forward pre-show matches (though damn are these ones difficult to pick :)).

Held at The Ranch of San Antonio (Mid-South)

Dark Match 1: Ava Anderson vs Laura Flame vs Lily Snyder vs Selina Svelte

Ah, I could see any of these four winning. I just say Flame because I feel like she has a lot of potential that is just beginning to have the surface scratched.

Dark Match 2: Etsuko Arihyoshi vs Maria Guest vs Claire Winters vs Joella Parent

So after Maria's big win at the last show, would she lose here? Claire looks like she wouldn't necessarily take a loss here either. With Joella in the match, I'm going to say Etsuko takes the win to develop her storyline and give her a little shot in the arm going forward.

Dark Match 3: Foxxy LaRue, Juana Huracán & Thea Davis vs Jillian Jarvis, Brooke Tyler & Darkness Cat

Another match that's tought to pick. The only decider for me is Darkness Cat, as I think she takes the loss. Looks like Thea might be edging towards moving up the card.

Opening Match: Alexis Lee vs Maribel Mercado

Would one win be enough to satisfy Alexis? Not sure, but I don't see much there with her. On the other hand, I've enjoyed Mercado's character when she's gotten promo time, so I'm going with my heart instead of my head on this one.

Match 2: Pamela Rojo vs Purple Viper © for the Shockwave Title

So Viper's Roll of Doom is awesome, which made me switch from picking Rojo. While I think it's about the right time for Viper to drop the title, I can see her winning here to make Rojo call in reinforcements.

Match 3: Birds of Prey vs Special Edition

As much as I want to say Birds of Prey, this would be a pretty big win here for them. Higa could defeat Young, but I'll say one step back before two steps forwards for the ninjas.

Match 4: Cherry Bomb vs Talia Quinzel

Ooph, another tough one to pick that I can see going right down the middle. A win for Talia here and I can see here being next in line for a title shot. At the same time, Cherry has unfinished business with Paige, whether that is for the World Title or not. Ah, I'll go with Cherry by a hair.

Match 5: Bubblegum Brawlersvs The Dogs of War © for the Tag Team Titles

Another heart over head pick. A lot depends on how far ahead you are playing, because sometimes when I do my write-ups and see a great performance like Christy had, I wish I had capitalized on it right away. This would be a pretty cool arc to have Perez and Higgins win the titles here, and Dogs of War both seem like they are ready to move onto bigger things.

Main Event: Chitose Ariwara vs Paige Croft © for the World Title

Alright, could Ariwara win on a countout or some other way where Paige retains? Sure. But, as good as Paige has been, there just feels like more ways the stories can go with Ariwara taking the belt here. Or it could be that I'm putting too much stock in Higa's storyline, but with so many heel contenders out there, this feels like the right time to have the belt change hands.

Bonus Questions:

- Which is Match of the Night? Chitose and Paige should tear the house down in what might be the best match in QAW history to date. At least that's what I'm hoping. ;)

- How many title changes happens at Scars and Stripes? Man, I feel almost like hedging my picks here with this, but I'll say 2.

Bonus bonus question:

- For a free point, I want some speculation for the next month.

In September, QAW will visit (at least) one region they have never held shows in before. Which? I'll answer all of these for fun, but for the point, I'll say South West.

Name a wrestler who will make an alignment turn, either face- or heel. Ah, now this is interesting. Could Paige be turning here (I find myself rooting for her most of the time anyway)? That certainly would be a big change, but outside of that, I don't see a natural change that would work with the current storylines (unless it's someone like Huracán getting something or Bubblegum Brawlers feud restarting). It's hard for me to see Dogs of War splitting up yet. I guess I'll go Pamela Rojo as I was kind of surprised she is classified as a face.

At Scars and Stripes September, a month from now, who will be the contestants for the World Title? Is this hinting at a four-way match? :p This makes me lose confidence in my pick for the main event, but I'll say the four are Paige, Ariwara, Cherry and Talia.
