TEW 2016: This Was A Bad Idea

Recommended Posts

In mid September of 2016, Brian Quinn of Impractical Jokers teased a big announcement which would take place in the coming weeks. On the 1st of October, he then announced over Twitter that he was officially opening up a wrestling promotion out of his home town of New York, called Bad Idea Wrestling.

He announced live over Periscope that the company would be both fun and family friendly as well as packed full of top wrestling action from America's top independent talent, as well as that it was not a punishment from Impractical Jokers.

A website was then created and announced via his twitter, which announced the first talents signed to Bad Idea Wrestling who are....

Roster:

Ariya Daivari:

One of the thirty-two men hand-picked by the WWE to participate in their CruiserWeight Classic Tournament earlier this year, Daivari turned a lot of heads during his time in the competition. The younger brother of former TNA and WWE alumni Shawn Daivari, Ariya certainly knows what it takes to make it to the "big time", and is sure to do whatever it takes to do so.

Candice LeRae:

One of three women in the company, and the most experienced, Candice has a lot of accomplishments in the world of professional wrestling. One half of The World's Cutest Tag Team with fellow roster member Joey Ryan, with whom she was PWG World Tag Team Champion for ten months, Candice is equally skilled in singles competition, recently becoming one of the top stars in Ring of Honor's newly created women's division.

Dalton Castle:

One of Ring of Honor's fastest rising stars, Dalton Castle has skyrocketed up the ranks within the company whilst also finding his place in the fans' hearts due to his unique charisma, and often overlooked superb in-ring ability. This year, "The Party Peacock" has racked up victories over top stars such as Roderick Strong, Tommaso Ciampa and even Japanese legend Jushin "Thunder" Liger.

Hanson:

One half of the tag team War Machine, Hanson won Ring of Honor's Top Prospect tournament in 2014, earning himself a contract within the company and alongside has tag partner Raymond Rowe, he was Ring of Honor Tag Team Champion from December 2015 until May of this year. Recently, War Machine toured England and faced some of Europe's top tag teams such as The London Riots and The Sumerian Death Squad.

"The Gentleman" Jervis Cottonbelly:

Without a doubt the nicest man in professional wrestling, Jervis is a true fan favourite who believes strongly in doing everything you can to help others and make their day the best it could possibly be. One half of the UWN Tag Team Champions in Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, Jervis is equally as talented in tag team wrestling as he is in singles competition and his niceness should not be taken as a weakness.

Joey Ryan:

Currently one of the hottest acts in professional wrestling, Joey Ryan has lots of experience which has saw him compete in promotions such as PWG, ROH, WWE, TNA and even on multiple tours of Japan, India and the United Kingdom. One half of The World's Cutest Tag Team, Joey is very talented in the ring and as a result has held the PWG World Tag Team titles four times, as well as PWG's World Championship for over 400 days!

Juice Robinson:

A former member of WWE's developmental facility, Juice Robinson has learned from some of the best wrestlers of all time such as Dusty Rhodes, William Regal and Triple H. After his release from the company, Juice went to New Japan Pro Wrestling where he is currently learning from some of New Japan's legends of the ring where he is rapidly improving. Now in Bad Idea Wrestling, Juice will be looking to use those skills that he's learned from the very best to his advantage and achieve as much as possible in his time here.

"Blue Pants" Leva Bates:

Most known for his stint in NXT under the name Blue Pants, Leva Bates is a ten year veteran of the ring and in that time has faced some of the world's top female stars such as Jade, Cheerleader Melissa and Su Yung as well as WWE SuperStars Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss and even Sasha Banks for Banks' NXT Womens Championship! Bates is not one to take lightly, which is something that the Bad Idea Wrestling roster are well aware of, especially Candice LeRae and Veda Scott who Bates has faced on multiple occasions.

Lio Rush:

Despite having only been in wrestling for two years, Lio Rush is one of independent wrestling's rising stars which is why he has wrestled for top companies such as CZW, ROH and New Japan Pro Wrestling and has faced top stars such as Adam Cole, Roderick Strong and Jay Lethal! Despite being having much less experience than the majority of the BIW roster, Rush is not someone who should be underestimated.

Raymond Rowe:

The other half of War Machine, Rowe is a thirteen year veteran and a former Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions. Despite being at his best in tag team action, Rowe can very easily get the job done in singles competition if needed, and is undoubtedly one of the favourites to be crowned the inaugral Bad Idea Wrestling Champion.

Santino Marella:

The definition of a fan favourite, Santino is a former WWE World Tag Team Champion, WWE United States Champion and even WWE Intercontinental Champion, something he won in his debut match. Now retired from in-ring action, "The Italian Stallion" has joined Bad Idea Wrestling in the role of GM (General Manager) which will most certainly make for some interesting segments.

Shane Strickland:

One of the top high-fliers in the world, Shane Strickland has started to break out in the world of independent wrestling and has recently found himself working with more promotions across the globe. In the past few months, Shane has wrestled stars such as Pete Dunne, Cedric Alexander and even defeated Will Ospreay in PROGRESS Wrestling in August. Any time Strickland steps in the ring, make sure to always keep your eye on him, as he is always sure to do something incredible.

"The Last Real Man" Silas Young:

Very easily angered, Silas Young despises the current generation of professional wrestlers, and just people in general. Strongly believing in the old-fashioned ways of life where only the real men survived, Silas has picked issues with multiple members of the Bad Idea Wrestling roster such as Dalton Castle in the past and will most probably do the same as he looks to take professional wrestling back to the glory days.

Trent Seven:

One half of British tag team Moustache Mountain, Trent Seven is one of Britain's most up-and-coming stars. A top fan favourite in Britain, Trent has found himself wrestling in more and more promotions such as ICW, Fight Club Pro, RevPro and Progress just to name a few. Currently one half of the Chikara Campeonatos de Parejas Champions as well as the PROGRESS Tag Team Champions, Trent is clearly skilled in tag team wrestling.

Tyler Bate:

One half of British tag team Moustache Mountain, Tyler Bate is one of Britain's fastest rising stars. Making waves across the independent scene at only 20 years old, Tyler is regularly appearing at some of Britain's top companies and alongside Trent Seven, he recently won the Chikara Campeonatos de Parejas Championship.

Veda Scott:

One of America's top female stars on the independent circuit, Veda Scott is very talented in the ring, holding victories over wrestlers such as Su Yung, Santana Garrett, Leva Bates and Mary Dobson, and will look to get more in Bad Idea Wrestling. Aiming to become BIW's first ever Women's Champion (once the championship is created), Veda is definitely one to watch.

<p><strong>Ariya Daivari</strong> vs. Lio Rush</p><p>

Lio Rush can be a great future prospect but I think this could be the chance to get Daivari across as a decent midcard heel.</p><p> </p><p>
