WWF 2001: A New Beginning

Recommended Posts

Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.

-Psalms 66:3

In the leadup to Wrestlemania X-7, a great shockwave hit the world of professional wrestling, as AOL Time Warner sold World Championship Wrestling to Vince McMahon for a song. The once mighty competitor brought to their knees by their own failings, Vince now saw himself as God Incarnate of the Wrestling World. The last great titan of a once mighty battle. In his pride, he sought the ultimate victory: to force his once-nemesis Ted Turner to sign the contract handing him control of WCW on the Showcase of the Immortals.

Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

- Proverbs 16:18

That changed the Monday Night before Wrestlemania, as Vince found himself staring into the eyes of his own flesh and blood, Shane McMahon, having swooped in and stolen his great prize right out from under him. Vince promised retribution at Wrestlemania, but alas he would not achieve it. As we lay the scene out, Vince has still defeated his enemy, but his progeny remains a thorn in his side. So consumed with his plight that he has ignored that his old nemesis, Stone Cold Steve Austin, cleanly regained the WWF Title that very same night. However, soon things will happen that he cannot ignore. Soon things will happen that will change his company forever. Things Fall Apart, and the Center Cannot Hold.

A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction.

- Jeremiah 50:22

Some ground rules:

1) This uses the Death of WCW, but I have rewound the clock a month to the beginning of April 2001. Wrestlemania X-7 happened as planned, but there was no Steve Austin heel turn. The Two Man Power Trip is not a thing in this universe.

2) All WCW guys have been removed from the roster. They will be resigned as necessary.

3) I've adjusted some of the months some guys are out downwards, but no one is immediately available who wasn't already available.

4) This is inspired at the start by Adam Blompied's Invasion rebooking, so keep that in mind.

<em>This week on Monday Night Raw. The fallout from Wrestlemania X-7 will hit, as the NEW WWF Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin will be in attendance live from Houston Texas and the Compaq Center. He will undoubtedly be interested in the main event of the evening, as former WWF Champion The Rock will go for the #1 contendership against the CEO of Deadman INC, The Undertaker.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

Also both Vince and Shane McMahon will be in attendance, following their hellacious battle with one another. How will the Chairman react to his son, the new owner of his arch-rival company? Tune in live on the NEW TNN to find out.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Undertaker - Rocky is likely off to film soon, so Taker moves into contention.

Team ECK - I look for the fourth part of this group to make himself seen.

Eddy Guerrero - Latino Heat keeps moving up.

Chris Jericho - No X-Pac heat here.

Hardy Boyz - Much higher on the totem pole.

Kane - If the RTC were still a viable group, then I wouldn't mind seeing them get the Hardcore belt, but they're not.

Or maybe Buff Bagwell? WCW might as well be dead and buried Shane. Just like when I'm through with you, you'll wish you were dead and buried. In fact, there's only one company in sports entertainment now...and that's the World Wrestling Federation!"</p><p> </p><p> "Similarly, Shane. In theory, you are my son, but in reality...I have only one real son..."</p><p> </p><p> <em>Shane looks at him strangely, when he is suddenly blindsided from behind by his brother-in-law, Triple H. <strong>Wrestlezone.com Wrestling News and Rumors</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<em>- The attack by Undertaker on The Rock is meant to put The Rock "on the shelf" for three months, while he films The Scorpion King, an offshoot of his upcoming picture The Mummy Returns.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

- X-Pac showed up to Monday Night Raw wasted, and not for the first time either. WWF has apparently decided to change the ways they do things for drug offenders, giving X-Pac a chance to mend his ways by sending him to rehab. There's no word on how this 9 month stint in rehab will affect the careers of Justin Credible and Albert, but obviously the X-Factor stable is likely dead in the water.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

- Also dead in the water will be the Right to Censor, as the group is expected to disband soon. Steven Richards may stick around as a character, but the faction will likely be gone within a few weeks.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

- WWF has hired several former WCW guys to developmental deals, but so far they are mostly low-end talent guys. No big name main eventers have been approached, and some (like Hogan, Hall, Nash, etc.) are waiting for the end of their Time Warner deals before they talk with McMahon and co.</em></p><p><em> </em></p><p><em>

- However, there has been movement on signing former ECW talents Rob Van Dam and Simon Diamond to deals.</em></p><p> </p><p>
