Buying out other companies

Recommended Posts

Currently playing as WCW in 1991. I realise that you absorb the companies popularity if they are more popular than you in a region. But is there any advantage in buying out much smaller pop companies as well? I mean if I was to buy out a regional company in the Mid South...would I gain popularity from there being less competition/choice in that region to go and watch? Monopolisation kinda thing?

I'm a bit unsure about how worth my while it is buying up the smaller feds?

No, there isn't any real advantage to putting a small company out of business if you're much larger than them and aren't going to benefit from absorbing popularity of taking talent from them. It's really only bragging rights of having taken a scalp. The only time there's a real strategic benefit from spending that money is if you want some of their talent that would otherwise be out of your reach, are expanding into their region and want a quick popularity boost, or you want to quickly take out a competitor who is hurting you in wars.

Excellent. Thanks Adam. <img alt=";)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/wink.png.686f06e511ee1fbf6bdc7d82f6831e53.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> Makes sense as well. As we saw when WCW was bought out...their fans (including me) disappeared off the face of the Earth and didn't boost WWE ratings.

<p>There is some advantage to it. You get there titles, contracts, etc. You can have them as a camp. You reduce loading times. I personally always a plant a tree when a fed goes down. I add a no overness fed into the game. </p><p> </p><p>

*tew is a very complex game. So my experiences may not reflect everybody's game*</p>

<p>I find small companies are useless as development territories, too. </p><p> </p><p>

They normaly only run one event a month, often with only a few matches on each, which won't help your workers develop. Even if you set the company to run weekly events, as I have, there won't be much progress - they tend to use the same few workers over and over.</p><p> </p><p>

You're better off just giving the workers a few matches per month on your own shows.</p><p> </p><p>

Still, it's a handy way to dump unhappy/disruptive/unwanted contracted workers.</p>

Well, based on Adam's reply I believe I am a monster. I've taken over a whopping 20 companies in the span of only 2 years in a modern day game! With the exception of PWG that I couldn't bare to kill, they are my child company now. :D

Also if you find small companies useless as developmental territories, not only should you add them to your broadcaster if you have one, you could just make them a touring company so they would run more shows.

The only game I saw alot of companies get bought out was the 87 mod by mod squad. WWF just kept knocking them down. They even bought out glow of all companies. *My tew experiences may not reflect everybody's game *

Yeah, it seems pretty rare normally. I'm clearly just doing it for sport at this point. I keep all of their championships so if I happen to Hall of Fame someone, their titles from the dead company will pop up in the list of my titles. :p

A worker progress in the skills they are focused on improving even if they don't work matches. Just being in developmental helps them progress skill wise. The matches help them progress faster.</p>
