Do you guys use freestyle angles?

Recommended Posts

So, how many of you guys use the "freestyle angle" feature when booking shows?

I just bought the game and tried using this, it's very convenient but I can't get over the feeling that I'm cheating. In my TEW2013 save I had hundreds of angles I saved that accumulated through me creating them, however, I don't feel like going through that again.

What are your thoughts on the Freestyle Angle option? Isn't it cheating? I feel like I'm sort of manipulating the game a little bit by using it and setting certain people to be rated only on their strengths.

I have at least one freestyle angle in nearly every TV show I book. It's a great feature that is a time saver.</p><p> </p><p> Cheating? No.. Why would it be? It's not like you couldn't create angles that suit a worker's strengths before. I rate people how they would be rated on, not according to their best skill.</p>

<p>I use them all of the time. In fact I hardly ever use the default angles (with the exception of the modern day opener angle). I just find that the freestyle angles give me more freedom to setup angles the way I want them to be set up.</p><p> </p><p>

There really is no way to cheat in this game as far as I am concerned (I feel like <strong>drcat123</strong> here, but I want to say this is my opinion. I say that because I do not want to debate with people again over multiple posts because they think my opinion is stupid or wrong. Or because they dislike me and are just looking for a reason to start with me.). Everyone is entitled to play the game the way they want. </p><p> </p><p>

That being said if you are playing with someone else then I might see it as cheating. However, that could be settled if you had ground rules where you both agree on what can and cannot be edited.</p>

I don't look at it as cheating, I figure that I'm just accentuating a worker's good traits. Maybe he's entertaining, so even in a video package I'm putting his best promos together or his most entertaining in ring stuff. If I'm having a guy get beat down maybe his overness is highlighted that he's a top guy and the fans are rooting for him... or maybe his selling of the offense buys him sympathy.

<p>Yeah I don't get this "cheating stuff". </p><p> </p><p>

I use freestyle angles all the time and I normally use the best skill that also makes sense in what I'm trying to portray. Say... Remmy Skye. Great selling skills. Maybe I'll have him in an angle to sell a beating or a promo, selling the fact that his opponent is strong and dangerous. If it makes sense, I'll do it. If you were an actual booker wouldn't you showcase your worker's strengths and hide / work on their weaknesses? Once a worker gets over enough that it doesn't damage ratings too much, I end up being more free with angles.</p><p> </p><p>

Another example, someone with high menace? Give them a promo that is short, sweet, and to the point while looking, having the tone, and has the body language of being menacing.</p>

There was revealing a bodyguard or destroying an opponent. You should be able to have a scary worker cut a chilling promo like how Brock's menace is utilized a lot. If Jericho had told Heath Slater "I don't give a [bleep] about your kids" and told him to get out of the ring and stop pissing him off it would have fallen flat.</p>

I only use freestyle angles, but I don't out and out cheat. If somebody should be rated on overness, I'll have them rated on that, if they should be rated on menace, I'll have them rated on menace. I just see what I think each person should be rated on by looking at what they'll be doing and rate them on what suits their role the best.

Like I don't put Brandon James in an interview and put him rated on menace or overness just because it'd score better. I put him rated on entertainment because that what he should be rated on.

Almost all the times. As long as the angle is in my head and the "rated on" things are right, I don't care that much. There's

I usually write the description myself. It might take a little longer, but sifting through the wealth of angles takes a while too.

How would it be cheating? Like people mention, you should accentuate strenghts like irl (barring TNA booking). It's only 'cheating' if you look at the stats through the editor. But then again, playing the game for the second time makes you familiar with the characters so... is that cheating too? :p

This may not be the right place for this, but while everyone is talking about "what they should be rated on," what exactly determines whether they should be rated on entertainment or microphone? In my mind, it's entertainment for funny promos and microphone for regular/standard promos. Is that pretty close? Basically, in my mind, entertainment is for a Rock promo, while microphone is for an Austin promo.

It's really whatever you want it to be rated on. I generally try and use whatever makes the most sense in each instance.

Freestyle angles are one of the best new features. I typically try to stay in line with what the default angle "rules" are for the story the freestyle angle is trying to tell, though.

I do consider cherry picking what each worker is rated on to be borderline cheating, but you've always been able to do it. That's just how the game is set up. Now it's just a lot quicker and easier.

The one thing I will say I love about the freestyle angles is you can literally tell any story you want any way you want.

I would prefer if the game came stocked up with a ton of angles already, but this isn't a bad alternative.

Although freestyle angles don't let u alter the segment descriptions it's really the segment name that matters most anyway since that's what shows up in the show history

The only thing I really use Freestyle angles for are if I'm doing a storyline/feud that isn't 1 on 1 since I feel there are a lot fewer default angles for that sort of thing. The starting SWF storyline with Remo, Gilmore & Rogue has been mostly Freestyle angles, but most 1 on 1 feuds, I can get by with just the default angles.

I think the only thing missing from this feature is the ability to set risk level. Not sure why this is missing. You can set just about everything else in freestyle angle that you can do in normal ones, so this feels like a glaring omission. It feels more engaging when the game differentiates between the risk level of the content and the fans/workers respond to them accordingly, especially when you want to play with a company with high-risque product.

What's the difference for you? </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> I use them all the time because booking with the standard templates often feels like I'm just going through the motions so I like to get creative with my angles, and I'm terrible at planning ahead so I never bother to create new ones for the database beforehand.</p><p> </p><p> I also use them is as a placeholder in pre booking, so even if I decide to use a regular angle I can still keep track of how the storyline is going to play out long term.</p>

<p>One potential loop hole with freestyle, and this is part of what I meant when I referred to cheating, is that you could set both participants to "major success" in every angle regardless of what it is. So both guys would be given major bonuses even if the description is "Cena attacks AJ"</p><p> </p><p>

Then again you could use that same loop hole when cloning/creating angles.</p>

No longer do I have to worry about not having an angle in mind or not liking the angles that I came up with. When you are simming a lot of days it is very hard to come up with lots of good angles. I use free style angles 100% of the time. I don't see how it would be cheating the game.</p>

Few promos are overness-based, as nobody gets over on overness promos for obvious reasons. I use them solely for reveal-angles or sudden actions (like alignment-changes). </p><p> </p><p> The best thing is that you can EDIT THEM! <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /> No longer switching this with that and deleting everything as there's one person rated on the wrong thing or should get more heat. I'm not an excel-booker like some people here and book on-the-fly, so this feature was a godsend and one of the selling points for me.</p>

Try this put great kahi in a angle rated on entertainment instead of menace. Let me know how that plays out for you. My biggest complain with freestyle angles. No text or save feature. If you could kept in database it would be awesome. I literally have over 200 clone angles just in setups. When I base a interview off menace. I'm picturing the worker speaking in action. It might be a training segment, destroying stuff, messing with announcer, etc. If I base a interview off selling. I see the worker putting over the other interview big time. So the worker is selling his opponents actions. I never have liked entertainment at all. Since focusing on one stat is far better. You improve that stat quicker and you know what you should get for the angle. Entertainment seems to never be the same. It has alot of factors.</p>

But why should you do that, it doesn't make any sense. As long as you're not playing a multiplayer game you would only lie to yourself. Like drcat says, it has to do with common sense.</p>
