Bringing the believers back to the temple

So I have been a long time reader here, but this is my first actual post. I apologise in advance for any formatting mistakes, please bare with me.

A look at the cult promotion that has been taking the IWC by storm. Since its first episode aired on October 29, 2014 it has offered 3 seasons of fun and fresh wrestling. It has put an emphasis on production and storylines that has never been seen before.

It has also revitalised the careers of famous wrestling legends such as Chavo Guerrero and Rey Mysterio, as well as guys that never quite succeeded in WWE such as Johnny Mundo and PJ Black.

With a new broadcasting deal in place in Japan and one soon to begin in Germany, along with its slot on the El-Rey network and its deal with iTunes the future is very bright for this unique wrestling promotion.

Congrats on taking the plunge. I've had two diaries, one that got cut short when my laptop died and the one I'm doing right now. I think the best way of doing things is to do two things, one which you've already done - read the diaries that other people have written. There's some fantastic stuff going on here and I'm inspired and a little humbled at the talent on display in this forum. The second thing is to do what you're doing - take the leap and write, and learn what works (and what works for you) by trying things out. Not everything is going to be a hit, but that's all right - sometimes I've learned more from stuff that didn't work than stuff that did work!

It'll be exciting to read your take on LU. Do you have any long-term goals for your game? Stuff like increasing your promotion's size from Cult (which I imagine LU has to be?) to National, or trying to get your own subscription network off the ground? Are you following any "rules" for your promotion, like "no more than 5 heavyweights on the roster at any one time" or "No signing away talent from smaller promotions on exclusive deals unless their contract comes up", stuff like that?

Good luck!

The big news coming out of WWE today is the second suspension of superstar Paige, having recently finished her first this does not bode well for her future in the company.

Dave Meltzer of the WON has already suggested that Paige is done with the company. With these troubles and all the drama over her partners departure from the company it does not bode well for the future of the company.

Twitter is rife today with rumours of both Alberto and Paige going to Lucha Underground or Ring Of Honor. Though right now nobody can be drawn into making a comment on the subject

Dark Match: ??? vs El Siniestro de la Muerte (D)

An Unnamed Wrestler in a mask won in 8 minutes, with a good showing.

Something is in the darkness (C+)

The show opens with Prince Puma telling Dario Cueto he feels he has earned a title shot. But before Dario can respond the screen plunges into the darkness. Then in bright white "Something In The Darkness Is Waiting For You" appears on the screen. Before we return to Puma and Cueto talking.

Johnny Mundo vs Fenix ©

A competitive match with plenty of high spots, most notably Mundo performing an impressive senton over the turnbuckles to the outside. This match could've gone either way, but Mundo won off the distraction from PJ Black.

Sexy Star vs King Cuerno for the Gift of the gods title(D+)

In a solid but short match Sexy Star retains her title against King Cuerno, most notable moment of the match being an impressive rolling dive through the second and third rope by Star.

Immediately after the bell La Mariposa attacks (C+)

Sexy Star clutched her title after successfully retaining but it didnt last, La Mariposa jumped her from behind. After a viscous assault, Mariposa raises the belt above her head before discarding it on the floor and exiting the ring.

Matanza vs Rey Mysterio ©

Agent Notes: Matanza was really carried in this match

In a short match, Matanza defeated Rey Mysterio. After struggling to find his feet, Mysterio got some momentum going before setting Matanza up for the 619. Chavo Guerrero then interfered, costing Mysterio the match.

Chavo lays out Rey before leaving him to Matanza

Deciding to not only cost Rey the match but attack him after the bell as well, laying him out and leaving him to Matanza, who continues his own assault.

Prince Puma and Sexy Star vs La Mariposa and Marty ‘The Moth’ (D+)

Puma and Star show excellent chemistry teaming together and beat Mariposa and The Moth in impressive faction. Stand out moment of the match was when both Puma and Star hit impressive suicide dives.

The darkness appears (C+)

After the match Puma and Star are celebrating before the lights go out, a figure appears at the top of the stairs under the single light in the temple. He points at Puma but the light goes out and just like that he is gone. Puma looks shaken.

Cueto is losing control (D-)

El Jefe Dario Cueto is talking to somebody who is off screen, he explains that rage is consuming Matanza and he recognises Matanza was lucky to beat Rey Mysterio and he needs a contingency plan, that whoever he is talking to should be ready to take their chance.

This Week in Wrestling News

WWE

 •
 • Both Luke Harper and Emma return to action this week. Emma debuting a new gimmick as Emmalina, shockingly it has not been well received
 • NXT have started the much anticipated Ember Moon vs Asuka feud at this weeks tapings, despite Asuka working through an injury that we reported last week
 • WWE No Mercy is in the books, it was a sell out and sold well but the show itself was disappointing
 • Baron Corbin beating Undertaker on the pre-show confused and angered the fans (no this is not a joke), followed by a series of matches ending in dq’s and both members of the Ascension having singles matches
 • The one bright spot from the show was the main event, AJ Styles defeated Dean Ambrose in an impressive match. It really rescued the whole show

Lucha Underground

 • Lucha Underground continues to make headlines as the man who appears from the darkness seems to have trouble with Prince Puma, who is he and how does he know him? Please continue to submit fan theories
 • Some are suggesting Mia Yim could be on her way to LU after being fired by TNA
 • In a shock move Vampiro has left LU, it is reported the booker didn’t notice his contract was about to expire, amateur stuff from the booker!
 • LU is reportedly ready to heavily push Pentagon Dark in the coming months
 • Angelico is reportedly unhappy with his push, he is expected to sit down with CEO Robert Rodriguez this week
 • Talk of Del Rio and Paige to LU has quietened, Del Rio has publically declared himself too big for the promotion but still no word from Paige

General News

 • NJPW has two new broadcasting deals, with Canal 5 and the Fight Network.
 • TNA have also gained a couple of broadcasting deals, more details to follow
 • TNA are also cutting their roster size firing Allie, Rebel , Jade and Andrew Everett
 • Matt Hardy expected to work a number of shows for FIP
 • ICW reportedly looking for new faces

La Mariposa vs Sexy Star for the Gift of the Gods title(D-)

LO: Hello.

M: Well that was a warm greeting, okay moving on, so all the believers want to know what exactly your problem is with Prince Puma, Puma grew up right here in Boyle Heights and he is a crowd favourite. What could he possibly have done that is so wrong?

LO: Okay well firstly I do not have to answer any of your questions, nor do I care what the believers think about me. Me and Puma have had our trouble, you nor nobody knows him like I do. He may call himself a prince but he is a rat. I’ll let the believers know when I want to let them know.

M: hmm well who are you most excit-

LO: Let me stop you right there, this is stupid, nobody is even watching this show. If you want to know more about me watch Lucha Underground this week and I’ll let my wrestling do the talking. Shut the camera off, no more questions.

M: Well the mysterious La Oscuridad has apparently exited the building, well that did not exactly answer to many of our questions but it seems there is history there between him and Prince Puma and the trouble they have had in recent weeks is not over yet. Moving on next up we have the lovely Sexy Star who is here to reflect on losing the Gift Of The Gods Title to La Mariposa this week in the temple.

http://i.imgur.com/fCWxLGC.jpg

SS: Hey Matt, thank you for having me on. I’m really excited to be here! I want to thank all the believers for their continued support over the last few years in the temple.

M: So getting straight down to business, how do you feel after your loss to La Mariposa?

SS: Well obviously I am really sad to have lost the title, but it was a fantastic match. Mariposa is an absolute monster in the ring. Still, I have a rematch when I’m ready and I am confident I will get my title back.

M: So you will be cashing in your rematch? I’m not entirely sure I’d want to step in the ring with Mariposa again.

SS: Haha, well she is obviously a tough competitor but I’ve been training hard and I think I will have just about enough in me to beat her.

M: A lot of people have been talking about how well you teamed with Puma in a tag team match 3 weeks ago, as well as with Rey in the trios match 2 weeks ago. Could we see you going after the trios belt?

SS: Well it was incredible to team with two of Lucha’s biggest names, I’d love to team with them again but Puma has his own stuff going on right now and I think Rey still wants to get hold of the Lucha Underground Championship.

M: Yeah that’s true, well thank you so much for coming in. Good luck in your rematch.

SS: Thank you Matt.

M: Okay so our final guest for the show, was also unsuccessful in defending their title, it is the simply terrifying Matanza.

http://i.imgur.com/xFbI7z9.jpg

Mza: …

M: So Matanza obviously you were disappointed about how the title match went this week, where do you think it went wrong?

Mza: …

M: Okay let’s try a different question, do you feel like the 3 other men teamed up against you?

Mza:…

M: Does he speak English? Anybody?

M: Alright well this seems like as good a place as any to end this show, perhaps we should consider our guests slightly more carefully next time.

I'm digging this, man. I'm a huge mark for LU, so seeing a nice diary of it warms my cold little heart <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Not upset to see Pentagon Dark pick up the title, but I can bet that not pinning Matanza for it will put PD right at the top of Dario's hit list. But I am upset to see Sexy drop the Gift! I love me some Sexy Star, so I'm 100% biased.

I'm having a ton of fun writing it and trying to capture the unpredictability of LU as best as i can.

Taking the title off of Sexy Star was a hard decision, though who knows where she might go next! She certainly isn't done with Mariposa <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/eek.png.0e09df00fa222c85760b9bc1700b5405.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
