PRO WRESTLING MAX - INDEPENDENT WRESTLING

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The evolution of independent professional wrestling is upon us. Now officially open for business, GH Enterprises proudly announces the formation of Arizona's premiere wrestling promotion, Pro Wrestling Max. PWMAX will be formed around the two majority owners of GH Enterprises, Buddy Garner and Pistol Pete Hall. Two legends of professional wrestling are coming out of retirement to build a professional wrestling promotion dedicated to professional wrestling fans.

Legends Return: The Owners

At the helm of PWMAX is a pro wrestling legend Pistol Pete Hall. Renowned in both the US and Japan, Hall is known for being the top foreign star for Golden Canvas Grappling for much of his career. He is also a founding member of Black Canvas Grappling, and is their first world champion. Hall's role in PWMAX will include running the day to day operations and serving as a road agent at live events.

Buddy Garner is a legend both as a mixed martial artist and professional wrestler. After Garner hung up the gloves he became a top star for PGHW and eventually retired while still one of Japan's biggest stars. His role in PWMAX will involve promotion, but his fans will be most excited to know that Garner will also be returning to the ring full time.

The Vision

The wrestling world is saturated with 'sports entertainment' and garbage wrestling promotions. PWMAX has heard the fans' call for a forward looking promotion that puts in ring action first. PWMAX will combine the stiffest shootfighters, the most technical mat wrestlers and death defying high flyers to form a proving ground for wrestlers from every corner of the globe. This also includes a nod to our neighbors to the south, with Lucha Libre being an important influence on the product.

A Worldwide Proving Ground

To be the best, PWMAX will have to have combatants from all over the world. Thanks to the bonds our staff has built in their long careers, PWMAX has a built an alliance across the globe that will bring the best talent to our ring. Those partners include:

OLLIE - The world's oldest promotion, OLLIE's traditional Lucha Libre style fits exceptionally well with that of PWMAX.

Warrior Engine XXV - Our most unlikely working agreement was actually our first. Despite WEXXV's reputation for garbage hardcore matches, they have a deep stable of strong style wrestlers that are ready to prove themselves in America.

ZEN - The colorful promotion out of New Zealand has outlandish looking workers that can back it up with high flying action.

Pro Wrestling SAISHO - Formerly a feeder company, SAISHO now stands on its own. It's roster has a strong mix of technical wrestlers, puro masters and high flyers.

The Roster

PWMAX's roster will be second to none. Full details will be released to the media shortly regarding the roster and the full card for PWMAX Chapter 1, but for now we are excited to announce that in addition to Buddy Garner, contracts have been completed with MAW Champion Greg Gauge, Warrior Engine XXV Champion Munemitsu Senmatsu, and indie legend Steve Flash. We can also announce that Pro Wrestling MAX Chapter 1 will contain qualifiers for the Heavyweight Title Tournament, and will be main evented by Buddy Garner vs. Steve Flash.

The Broadcast Team

On top of the owners, PWMAX will have two excellent wrestling minds calling the action. Play by Play duties will fall to Jim Lou Freebush, while color commentary will be handled by noted heat magnet Shane Sneer.

Trial by Fire

PWMAX is not for everyone. Our core roster will be small, but we will always be open to giving workers the opportunity to earn their way in. PWMAX shows will include Trials by Fire. These matches will allow unsigned prospects to face off with members of the PWMAX roster with hopes of earning a contract.

The Titles

PWMAX is about proving who is the best in the world, and it's Heavyweight Title serves that purpose. The title will have no weight limit, with the inaugural champion crowned in a one night, eight man tournament in February of this year.

Lucha Libre is a major influence in PWMAX, and that is part of the reason that PWMAX will eschew traditional tag titles for a Trios Championship. The Trios division will give our many international competitors a chance to make a name for themselves stateside. The inaugural champions will be decided in a one night, eight team tournament in March.

The Tournaments

Independent wrestling has long valued tournaments, but that tradition has slipped through the cracks in recent years. In addition to his duties behind the booth, Shane Sneer has also taken over the booking of what PWMAX believes will be the last great tournaments in the US.

When asked about his plans for tournaments in PWMAX, Sneer didn't pull any punches. "Tournaments were once grand affairs, something promotions pulled out all the stops for. But in recent years the tradition has died off somewhat in the US. Sure, Mid Atlantic Wrestling is still stumbling along with the Rip Chord Invitational. But even that tournament has slipped from international event to a mix of the same MAW contracted wrestlers that are on all of their shows. We are aiming higher than that."

The crown jewel of PWMAX will be an annual tournament known as King of Kings. This will be a 12 man round robin held each fall. The top two men in each of the two pools will meet in a 4 man, one night tournament. The winner of King of Kings will earn a shot at the Heavyweight Title at PWMAX's year end show. This tournament will include champions from our partners and the best our roster has to offer.

The Trios Division will also be represented. the PWMAX Trios Classic will happen every March and operate as a one night, eight team tournament beginning with the inaugural championship tournament this year.

Pro Wrestling MAX Chapter 1: Coming Soon.

Long time WMMA modder trying my hand at a TEW diary. I envision this as a more Lucha Libre influenced version of EVOLVE. The product I'm using is tweaked from the default PWMAX product to reflect that.

Keep in mind these are only rumors and can't be confirmed.

* The largest story in an otherwise quiet week is the surprise launch of the new promotion Pro Wrestling Max. PWMAX looks like a serious endeavor, with rumors that both Pistol Pete Hall and Buddy Garner have been quietly scouting talent for months.

* It is also rumored that there will be some genuine surprises in the initial roster, with a mix of indie darlings and total unknowns from around the world. One such example is the rumored signing of unheralded rookie puro competitor Gidayu Katou from Japan. Hall in particular is rumored to be high on Katou despite only being 19 and having just a handful of matches in small Japanese independents.

* Interest among the workers for getting a shot in PWMAX also appears to be high. If PWMAX delivers as promised it is expected that this will be a promotion that workers can really showcase their in ring prowess in longer matches, as well as work with world renowned wrestlers that they wouldn't otherwise be able to.

* Not everyone is happy with these developments though, as a rivalry seems to be forming despite the first show not even booked yet. Several unnamed sources inside MAW have bristled at PWMAX selling itself as the last bastion of real wrestling in the American indies, and they have taken exception to Shane Sneer's critical remarks regarding the Rip Chord invitational.

* Reports also suggest none have taken this as personally as MAW champion Greg Gauge. This sets up a potentially awkward situation as it is confirmed that Gauge signed a contract with PWMAX shortly before these comments were made public.

Quick Hits:

* In a surprise announcement, Primus Allen has been released from his SWF Developmental deal.

* Also surprising is the release of bright prospects Logan Wolfsbaine and Xavi Ferrera from PSW.

* It appears Kirk Jameson is about to get his big break. Interesting! I don't know if I've seen any Pro Wrestling MAX diaries recently. May I ask what the product settings are for MAX? Also, what region are you based in? I'm guessing the Southwest US, based on your first show being held in Phoenix, but maybe that's too big of a leap to be making. Good luck!

The press conference included a long table with placards at each seat; while Buddy Garner, Steve Flash and Pistol Pete Hall all appeared and answered questions from the press, Gauge's chair sat empty.
