Ring of Honor 2004 - Change Your Perception

Recommended Posts

You're following through on the promise the intro showed, man. Great stuff - life got busy enough that I missed the previous diary predictions, but I'll be sure to get in some stuff for the next round. The 411mania angle is, frankly, the best "hook" for a real-world diary I've read thus far. I hope you enjoy writing these as much as we clearly enjoy reading them!

From fans, to wrestlers, and to the ring crew. Year 3 of ROH will be one to remember. Also thanks to Doug Williams and Jerry Lynn who helped our students at the ROH Academy. This week, we’re proud to announce a huge double header for 3/13. In the afternoon, we’ll be running Do or Die II, a show dedicated to showcasing some lesser known ROH talent and new faces. There’ll be an hour intermission and then our main show, At Our Best, will finish off the night.

- This week, we’ll just be discussing the matches announced for Do or Die II. The main event will see six men compete for a chance at further ROH bookings. Each man is quickly rising up the ranks of their respective regional independents. Up first is Austin Aries, a Midwest native who has been making a name out here on the East Coast. Kenny King is representing Nevada and is a former Tough Enough contestant. Hailing from Missouri is the young aerial stud, Matt Sydal. From Florida, Roderick Strong is known for his big suplexes and brutal backbreakers. It’s an honor to have the current PWG Heavyweight Champion Frankie Kazarian come in and showcase his talents. And lastly, a man who is, well, we don’t really know anything about the man other than his name: Delirious. It’ll be a six man mayhem match with a big reward on the line. You won’t want to miss it!

- We’ll be featuring some women’s competition as well as Allison Danger goes up against April Hunter. They’ll be looking to show off their abilities and help bring some needed legitimacy for women’s wrestling out here in the States. We look forward to shining a spotlight on independent women’s wrestling even more later in the year.

- In some tag team action, The Outkast Killahz (Oman Tortuga and Diablo Santiago) are up against the two friends, Alex Shelley and Jimmy Jacobs. The show will also feature a Four Corner Survival match including Caprice Coleman, Fast Eddie, Don Juan, and Chad Collyer. As well as singles competition between Rainman and Josh Daniels.

- Here’s a breakdown of the card

• Tag Match: Alex Shelley & Jimmy Jacobs vs. The Outkast Killahz

• Four Corner Survival: Caprice Coleman vs. Chad Collyer vs. Don Juan vs. Fast Eddie

• Singles Match: Allison Danger vs. April Hunter

• Singles Match: Josh Daniels vs. Rainman

• Six Man Mayhem: Austin Aries vs. Delirious vs. Frankie Kazarian vs. Kenny King vs. Matt Sydal vs. Roderick Strong

<div style="max-width:700px;background-color:#bc0001;border-style:solid;border-color:black;border-width:1px";">Locker Room Scoops

- Week Of 3/2

- Welcome back ROH fans, we’re getting closer to Do or Die II and At Our Best, so if you haven’t bought your tickets, get them while you still can! We’re offering three different ticket plans and a special meet & greet VIP package! And if you still haven’t seen our Second Anniversary Show, make sure to pick that up too! Now, with all that out of the way, let’s take a look at what we’ve got in store for the evening show.

- The big match, the main event that everyone’s been talking about: Samoa Joe defending his ROH World Championship against Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe in a steel cage! Jim Cornette will have to be forced to watch from the outside as his boys go up against the seemingly undefeatable champ. It’ll be a test for the champion and a test for these brothers. A main event for the ages!

- As if that’s not big enough, we can confirm you’ll see not only one, but TWO cage matches! In a “Loser Leaves ROH” scramble cage match, The Carnage Crew put their jobs on the line up against the entirety of Special K. Reaching out for potentially two more favors, The Crew have lined up Sabu and Mike Awesome as back up! It’s going to be bloody, it’s going to be wild, and it’s going to be brutal.

- Having healed from his injuries at the hands of The Prophecy, we’re happy to announce Colt Cabana will be in action alongside Ace Steel! They’ll face Dan Maff and BJ Whitmer in a tag match under the usual Code of Honor. We’re hoping that this fierce rivalry can be contained in an honorable fashion, as to prevent endangering the careers and lives of all parties involved.

- We’ll also be seeing a rematch from our Second Anniversary Show, a match many called a “Match of the Year” contender. The Pure Wrestling Champion AJ Styles will defend his belt for the first time against CM Punk. Their last match was spectacular, but stopped early due to the meddling of The Prophecy. To make sure nothing like that happens again, we’re not only put in a special guest referee, but a new Ambassador of Honor! If anyone interferes in this match, they will be slapped with an indefinite suspension. We want this first title defense to be fair and with zero distractions.

- “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson returns to action to take on a healed up Spanky! These two friends and students of Shawn Michaels meet again. We only saw a glimpse of what Spanky could do prior to his injury, so we’re eager to see him back in the ring and he’s just as eager. The fans could even witness another potential “Match of the Year” contender with this one!

- As if this card wasn’t packed enough, there will be a Four Corner Survival match to determine a new #1 Contender for the ROH World Championship. If Joe loses his belt, he’ll be first in line for a title match, but assuming he retains, the winner of this match will be his first challenger. Low Ki is the first entrant into this match, who just made his return from injury and he’s looking great. Joining him will be another man who has been away for a bit, Chris Sabin looks to get back into ROH title contention. His leg healed, Matt Stryker will also take place in the match. After his impressive showing in last month’s tournament, it’d be a crime to leave Jimmy Rave. All four men are hungry for gold and we're excited to see who comes out on top.

- Making their first appearance in ROH this year, The S.A.T. make their return in a #1 Contender’s match for the ROH Tag Titles. Their opponents will be the Backseat Boyz now that Trent has returned from his injury. The Backseat Boyz have been in a bit of a slump and they’ll be looking to bounce back, but it’ll be The S.A.T. who will want to have a great showing and a victory.

- Looking to pick up some momentum, Sonjay Dutt will take on Jack Evans. Whether it be the ROH World Championship or Pure Wrestling Championship, both men are going to do their best to try and impress the ROH faithful and management for a chance at gold.

- Tickets are now on sale and remember the check out the various ticket options available! Our roster will bring the heat and we're looking forward to seeing everyone on 3/13!

- And here’s a finalized version of the evening card

• #1 Contender’s Tag Match: The Backseat Boyz vs. The S.A.T.

• Singles Match: Jack Evans vs. Sonjay Dutt

• Tag Match: The Prophecy (BJ Whitmer & Dan Maff) vs. The Second City Saints (Ace Steel & Colt Cabana)

• #1 Contender’s Four Corner Survival: Chris Sabin vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Low Ki vs. Matt Stryker

• Singles Match: “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson vs. Spanky

• ROH Pure Wrestling Championship Match (w/ special guest referee): AJ Styles © vs. CM Punk

• “Loser Leaves ROH” Scramble Cage Match: The Carnage Crew, Mike Awesome, and Sabu vs. Special K

• ROH World Championship Steel Cage Match: Samoa Joe © vs. Jay Briscoe vs. Mark Briscoe

Quick Prediction

Do Or Die II
• Tag Match: Alex Shelley & Jimmy Jacobs vs. The Outkast Killahz

• Four Corner Survival: Caprice Coleman vs. Chad Collyer vs. Don Juan vs. Fast Eddie

• Singles Match: Allison Danger vs. April Hunter

• Singles Match: Josh Daniels vs. Rainman

• Six Man Mayhem: Austin Aries vs. Delirious vs. Frankie Kazarian vs. Kenny King vs. Matt Sydal vs. Roderick Strong

At Our Best

• #1 Contender’s Tag Match: The Backseat Boyz vs. The S.A.T.

• Singles Match: Jack Evans vs. Sonjay Dutt

• Tag Match: The Prophecy (BJ Whitmer & Dan Maff) vs. The Second City Saints (Ace Steel & Colt Cabana)

• #1 Contender’s Four Corner Survival: Chris Sabin vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Low Ki vs. Matt Stryker

• Singles Match: “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson vs. Spanky

• ROH Pure Wrestling Championship Match (w/ special guest referee): AJ Styles © vs. CM Punk

• “Loser Leaves ROH” Scramble Cage Match: The Carnage Crew, Mike Awesome, and Sabu vs. Special K

• ROH World Championship Steel Cage Match: Samoa Joe © vs. Jay Briscoe vs. Mark Briscoe
