The pain of being a small size fed.

Recommended Posts

Playing QAW and went searching for talent like 2/3 of the way through first year and found Lauren Eastern who had insanely good characteristics/skills and was unemployed but was asking for $1200/show which was quite a bit more than anyone was making but took her in cause i could do something with her. So the AI makes her an opener right away but she shot up the card and was getting read to have her run with the Shockwave title for a bit to finally get her in main event scene and here comes NOTBPW with their stupid written deal that no personw ill aceept a written from a small fed and my boss capped my exclusive PPE so i know she's a goner. :(

Yeah there are trade offs to be sure. I like not having to do downsides cause I find I love having a REALLY big roster which is easy to do at small size cause no money goes out if ya don't use em.

Poor Lauren broke her ankle in a 4 way match in my main event and will be out of action for a couple months. Wonder if they will pull the offer? Guess it doesn't matter cause even if they did they, or someone else, would swoop in later and snatch her up. *They didn't pull the offer she's gone*

Yep, I do a QAW dynasty and this is just one of those pains that come with being a small fish. The upside is that the AI does not behave like players do, hogging all the workers. If they grab your talent, typically they have released some of their own, ready for you to pick up, if you can afford them.

Maybe you can use that edited default database(mod), where wrestlers only have pop in their region. This gives two advantages to small or regional companies:1) Wrestlers are cheaper hence more realistic. 2) Big promotions will still do their predator signings though the amount will be less.

Bigger corps can pillage you, but anyone you like at another small/regional fed can be PPA'd to work for you as well as their other fed. And don't forget about Alliance Loans and Trades.

You shouldn't have much to worry aout at small, your show rating don't need to be that high to gain pop. Even if your guys get pillaged, there are allways workers to bring in that can get you the ratings you need.

If they are characters you initially like the look of or not is a different matter.

At regional I'd suggest getting a working agreement with a bigger promotion. I , as CZCW got an agreement with TCW. So I picked a guy or two or ig shows to put my Champions over. It's free pop gains, none of my roster have to lose, or lose pop to give it to the winner. I your roster gets raided you can always load two guys or your main event to guarantee the rating you need.

Joining an alliance helps too, loaning guys for a match to put over your guys.

I'm currently at Regional in my own-fed save on Fleisch's real world mod, and my biggest pain is not people getting poached away, but people working elsewhere on my tv-tapings or events... Had big plans for John Hennigan and Paul London, and both sign touring contracts with NJPW. Likewise, Cody Rhodes was loaned out by another employer, and missed a tv-taping for me, where his storyline was set to really take off...

It can be frustrating, but its also realistic. The bigger companies are going to watch the smaller ones and make offers if they believe they see a future superstar in the making.

But it doesn't have to kill your company there are a number of things you can do.

1) try to build up the roster in a balanced way. Don't rely on a single star, but have several backed up by a good midcard. That way losing one doesn't destroy your entire company. It also is cheaper to have 4 wrestlers who can put on D rated matches than one C- level wrestler most of the time.

2) Don't be afraid to job out a departing wrestler. Steal some of their overness by having them lose a match just before they leave.

3) Alliances help, you can bring in wrestlers for just a show or two and use them to boost up your roster.

4) one time contact big names rather than try to sign them long term and use them to build the skills of your roster. That makes your people a bit less likely to stand out and be poached.

that's all I can think of now, I'm sure there are others, but the key is to expect the poaching and have plans that can be adjusted to accommodate losing wrestlers periodically.

On a side note, NOTBPW seems to sign Lauren within 2 months of her debut 85-90% of the games I've played.
