DVW: Welcome to the Circus (CVerse)

<p>Apologies for the delay. I have a job where things are pretty slow most of the time, interrupted by periods where it basically takes over my life. So, it was pretty hard getting this down. Thanks for your patience.</p><p> </p><p>

If you are wondering why there was no prediction contest for the Main Attraction, the answer is that I forgot. Look, I said I was busy. Prediction contest will return for the next show, because having BigJay2003 suggest a song I had never heard of but perfectly fit Quine was a really cool feeling.<p> </p><p>

Finally, a big thanks to all the quiet readers. It's a pretty neat feeling to hit 1000 views. Thanks for reading, all! Stay tuned!</p>

<p>So, work has finally slowed down again for me. I hope to get the next event posted sometime this week. As before, top predictor gets to pick entrance music for anyone on the DVW roster. And here's the preview...</p><p> </p><p>

Elliot Thomas is the new Main Attraction of Dixie Vaudeville Wrestling! But how long can he hold onto the top spot now that he’s everyone’s target? Can the underdog succeed now that he’s the favourite? And how will Shooter Sean Deeley and El Hijo del Zonk deal with their losses?</p><p> </p><p>

Ringleader Jon Hansen struggles to keep the circus together and under his control. His latest crisis? Covering up the murder of Magwitch until he can find out what really happened to the crazy clown. Cat Jemson is supposed to be Hansen’s assistant, but what is she really up to? And who is her mysterious contact?</p><p> </p><p>

Hugh de Aske and Jacob Jett have had their issues of late, revolving around Jett’s use of his old Jetstream mask. The two will meet 1 on 1 at the next event. Joanna Silver and Jett’s mask have been banned from ringside.</p><p> </p><p>

Austin Smooth is one of the newest members of the DVW roster, winning the latest ‘Fight For Your Spot’ match. In his first match as a full member of the roster, he will take on Logan Wolfsbaine, winner of the previous ‘Fight For Your Spot’ match. Plus, Jaime Quine, El Mitico Jr, Blue Phantom, Blade Kimiyama and the Hive!</p><p> </p><p>

<p><strong>Elliot Thomas</strong> vs Pavel Vanzycha</p><p>

For the Main Attraction Championship</p><p>

<em>Too soon to move the belt, but glad to see Pavel back in the ring.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hugh de Aske</strong> vs Jacob Jett</p><p>

<em>Jett has had the upperhand in the feud to this point, so this evens the score a bit before the final blowout match.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Austin Smooth</strong> vs Logan Wolfsbaine</p><p>

<em>Man, I like both these guys, but Smooth should have a slightly better future with his character.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Blue Phantom vs <strong>El Mitico Jr</strong> vs Kamikaze</p><p>

<em>Thought a bit on this one, but this seems like a decent time to get Mitico heading in the right direction. Phantom's troubles with the clowns bites him here.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Blade Kimiyama and Chucky Dorrance vs <strong>the Hive</strong></p><p>

<em>In conjunction with the "team with name wins" theory, I think the Hive have a chance to be entertaining in DVW as a foil for Coulrophobia.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jaime Quine</strong> vs Japanese Phoenix</p><p>

<em>I'm excited about the entrance! But Phoenix is a jobber here.</em></p>

<p>Been subscribed for a bit but have been meaning to say how much I've been enjoying this. Hopefully, I'll get beginner's luck on the picks. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Elliot Thomas</strong> vs Pavel Vanzycha</p><p>

For the Main Attraction Championship</p><p>

<em>Should be a good match, but I can't see Elliot dropping the belt so soon after winning it.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Hugh de Aske vs <strong>Jacob Jett</strong></p><p>

<em>This will probably steal the show. Jett is an incredible worker, and the dread pirate de Aske is pretty good himself. I'll go with the wrestler that can have the bigger impact in my view.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Austin Smooth vs <strong>Logan Wolfsbaine</strong></p><p>

<em>Just picking one of my favorite workers, so no real logic beyond that.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Blue Phantom vs <strong>El Mitico Jr</strong> vs Kamikaze</p><p>

<em>Same as above, though Blue Phantom is probably the favorite to win.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Blade Kimiyama and Chucky Dorrance vs <strong>the Hive</strong></p><p>

<em>Hive is just too fun of an idea to take another loss.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jaime Quine</strong> vs Japanese Phoenix</p><p>

<em>One KO Kick is all it will take.</em></p>

<p>Intermission</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks for the predictions, guys. Or gals. People. I plan on posting the show in a few days, just finishing it up. But in the meantime... this!</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/uDE8wGn.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Levon Belanger slides into a booth seat in another poorly lit bar, beer in hand. Elizabeth Bell is already seated. Spread before her is a folder, with small stacks of paper covering most of the table.</p><p> </p><p>

“Levon. I’m glad you could make it.”</p><p> </p><p>

“You made an intriguing pitch,” he shrugs, brushing hair out of his eyes. “So what’s all this?”</p><p> </p><p>

“This,” Bell waves her hands above her collection, “is everything I know about Jon Hansen and the Dixie Vaudeville Wrestling federation.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Why? I mean, it’s just a wrestling company, right?” he takes a drink of his beer. “Why the obsession?”</p><p> </p><p>

Bell’s head jerks up the accusation of ‘obsession.’ She gives him the stink eye before continuing. “DVW is no normal wrestling company. First of all, there’s their recruiting process. Let me guess, you didn’t seek them out. Hansen contacted you.”</p><p> </p><p>

Levon’s surprised expression says it all. “Umm…” He shrugs and tries to cover it. “I am a well known wrestler, though.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Just one example of how DVW works,” Bell says, sorting through some papers. “It’s the same with their audience. The circus moves around every two weeks, never staying in the same place long. Their ‘fans’ are alerted to nearby shows. It can be incredibly difficult to find them when they don’t want you to.”</p><p> </p><p>

“What is this other stuff?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Stories, rumours, tips… everything.” Bell takes a drink and swallows. “I stumbled onto DVW about a year ago. I’ve been trying to build a solid story against them since, but it’s like trying to hold a handful of water. Hansen is slippery. But look at some of this. People work for DVW and then disappear from their shows, and never work in the industry again. You hear about the last champion?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Not really.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Biggest name in the company. Crosses Hansen and now, it’s like they’ve disappeared off the face of the earth. And Hansen is the exact opposite; there’s literally no record of the guy before he appeared in charge of the circus. And now he just wields supreme executive power there, completely unchecked. I mean, there’s no record of DVW being licensed by any gaming commission or state agency. You were there, Levon. How does something the size of that circus avoid detection? When there’s this much smoke, there’s fire. A bloody forest fire.”</p><p> </p><p>

Levon takes a long drink, then motions to her papers. “I still don’t understand what you need me for. This is all suspicious, sure. And definitely interesting. But I’m not a journalist or blogger or mystery writer or whatever. I’m a wrestler. Hansen didn’t offer me a job, remember. I lost the match.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Hansen reached out to you for that match, right?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Right.”</p><p> </p><p>

“And you still get some emails from him, right?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Just advertisements for shows.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Hansen has stripped me from his email list. I’m not sure how he knows, but I can’t even seem to get aliases on it. The man is no fool. But I need to get back there and you can help me do that.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Ok… so… what, then? You want me to take you to see a show?” Levon smiles. “Like, a date?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Hansen’s people would never let me in to see a show,” Bell says with a roll of her eyes. “I need a real ‘in’. We need a connection with someone on the roster.”</p><p> </p><p>

“I lost my match, remember?”</p><p> </p><p>

Now it’s Bell’s turn to smile. “I remember. But, luckily for us, I happen to know someone that would make an excellent prospect for Dixie Vaudeville Wrestling.”</p>

1.7 Distant Thunder</span></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p>

Saturday, Week 2, June 2018</p><p>

Held in Mid South, USA.</p><p>

Attendance: 4,300</p><p>

Available online. Commentary by Samuel Curran and Gerrard Lee</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Previously, on Dixie Vaudeville Wrestling…</em></p><p><em>

The recap opens on Magwitch’s body from a month ago. “We’re lucky to have this contained,” Hansen says from last week. This is followed by clips of Jaime Quine talking with Sean Deeley in the back lane from episode 1.3 and then Pavel Vanzycha forfeiting his spot in the Main Attraction Tournament due to injury. Finally, we get a quick recap of the championship match from last show, with Elliot Thomas collapsing with the title in the ring. The recap ends with a clip from the previous intermission; Elizabeth Bell saying, “I happen to know someone who would make an excellent prospect for Dixie Vaudeville Wrestling.”</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo"><div><iframe width="200" height="113" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/9SSUQxGjZZ4?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" title="Godsmack - Voodoo (Official Music Video)"></iframe></div></div><p> </p><p>

The smoke machines by the entrance burst to life. A few seconds later, Jaime Quine emerges from the fog. Her wrestling gear is ripped and torn, her hair looks greasy and her hands clench and unclench at her side. Still, her eyes are wide and alert as she glares around the bigtop. </p><p> </p><p>

“Looks like we’re starting with a match tonight,” Lee crows on commentary, “cause here comes ‘Creepy’ Jaime Quine!”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Jaime Quine vs Japanese Phoenix</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Phoenix’s entrance is a stark contrast to Quine’s, as he comes out to what sounds like an anime show’s theme song. Possibly the C-Verse’s version of Yoshi Tatsu’s music. Fun fact: Phoenix has one of the highest rated gimmicks in DVW.</p><p>

Anyways, this is an action packed, fast paced opener. Both workers show off their impressive speed and technical skill. On paper, this looks pretty one-sided, but Phoenix puts up a great looking fight. He hits some nice moves and sells beautifully for Quine. The short match makes sure that there is very little ‘dead time’ in it. It ends with Phoenix trying some sort of springboard move, but leaping instead directly into a KO Kick.</p><p>

<strong>Jaime Quine defeats Japanese Phoenix. Rating: 64</strong></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The champ is here! Elliot Thomas’s music hits and down the ramp comes the newly crowned DVW Main Attraction! The crowd cheers as Thomas gives high fives and fist bumps on the way to the ring. He grabs a mic and rolls into the ring, allowing the cheers to die down naturally. He starts with a basic greeting, pumping the crowd up even more.</p><p> </p><p>

“Two weeks ago, I, again, gave everything I had in this very ring and emerged victorious,” Elliot says, lifting his belt high. “It wasn’t easy. Two tough matches just to get to the finals. And Zonk and Deeley - whew - those guys are tough. I think I’m still sore from that match.”</p><p> </p><p>

“You know, I got several congratulatory messages or texts from friends afterward. The crew, some of the rest of the roster. It’s not easy being the smallest guy in a match like that and managing to pull out the victory. Someone asked me, ‘How? How do you manage to keep getting up? How do you manage to keep fighting?’”</p><p> </p><p>

“It’s actually pretty simple. Motivation. You picture that one thing that will keep you fighting through anything and you focus on that. Let it drive you. For me…” Elliot trails off. He takes the belt off his shoulder and gazes at it. “This is nice. This is really nice. I will fight to defend this, to keep it, but it’s not all that motivates me.” He lays the belt down in the centre of the ring. “There’s something more. Something more important than this. HANSEN! Jon Hansen, get out here, now!”</p><p> </p><p>

There is a pregnant pause, before Jon Hansen’s music hits. The ringleader, looking no better than last show, warily makes his entrance. Hansen stays further up the aisle and has a mic in hand. “What do you want now, Thomas?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Our deal,” Thomas says, pointing at the Main Attraction belt. “I won. I’m the champ. You owe me information.”</p><p> </p><p>

Hansen smiles. “Ah, yes. Of course. Your ‘motivation’. The reason why you fight.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Talk.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Here? Now? In front of everyone? Are you sure you want to give your opponents - your enemies - that kind of ammunition?” Thomas takes a hesitant step back at this. Hansen presses forward. “Now is bad for me, anyways. I’m the ringleader, Elliot. That type of position occupies a lot of time during a show.”</p><p> </p><p>

“You’re not going to duck me again.”</p><p> </p><p>

“That’s great - we’ll make an appointment. For later. But for now, I think you should be focusing.”</p><p> </p><p>

“On what?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Your first title defense. You said you want to defend that Main Attraction title, right? Your first defense will be tonight against a man who lost his chance at becoming champion. Your first defense will be against Pavel Vanzycha!”</p><p> </p><p>

Pavel’s heavy orchestral music hits and the Polish grappler, accompanied by the diminutive Marina Del Ray, comes out from the back. He grins and straightens his glorious mustache. Marina grabs the mic from Hansen and holds it up to Pavel. </p><p> </p><p>

“Goodbye, Thomas Elliot.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/kO9wxb5.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/s2yMppV.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/kqwLpAG.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/8cOJWJ9.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/KhOpBQk.jpg</span><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Blade Kimiyama and Chucky Dorrance vs The Hive</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Thomas clears the ring as Blade enters, wearing his blade vest as usual. Chucky is out next, lugging his large case behind him. Blade glances over at his partner for the night, then appears to be making a prayer. The Hive is out next, stalking to the ring like some sort of animals.</p><p>

The match shows the obvious disparity between the two teams. While Blade looks pretty good, it’s solely as an individual. He argues with Chucky several times and the Hive quickly, and efficiently, succeed in cutting Chucky off from his partner. Blade eventually gets the hot tag and goes absolutely crazy, hitting a series of nice moves on Ant-Man and Firefly before getting cut off. Everything breaks down. Chucky accidentally bumps into Blade and takes him down. Ant-Man tosses Blade and then tosses Firefly onto Blade. Chucky gets pinned.</p><p>

<strong>The Hive defeats Blade Kimiyama and Chucky Dorrance. Rating: 57</strong></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Blade Kimiyama looks pretty annoyed, but still shows a sense of honour by rolling back into the ring and helping Chucky to his feet as the Hive leaves. Chucky looks to be apologizing. Blade rolls his eyes, but does dip his head, accepting the apology. Chucky gives him a hug. Blade quickly disengages himself, claps Chucky on the back and waves farewell, leaving down the ramp. Chucky watches him go, before slowly revealing that he’s lifted one of Blade’s daggers.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/uDE8wGn.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Cat Jemson, notepad open and poised just like last show, is interviewing Sonny Wildside and Hellcat Hernandez. Well, she’s talking to Sonny. Hellcat sits nearby, facing away from them, concentrating more on the book she’s reading - Sun Tzu’s Art of War - than Cat and Sonny’s conversation.</p><p> </p><p>

“Nah, we didn’t anything that night,” Sonny says. He turns to Hellcat. “You see Magwitch that night, babe?”</p><p> </p><p>

“No, and don’t call me ‘babe’.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Hellcat says no.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Great,” Cat says, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “If you remember anything, you’ll let us know.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Of course, Cat,” Sonny grins. “And you’ll remember to get us a tag match next week, right?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Of course.” Giving the unlikely pair one last look, Cat turns away. Sonny puts his ever present earbuds back in. Cat takes a few steps away before spotting Blue Phantom. She hurries over to the luchador. He wears his entrance gear, the long, LED laced duster jacket. “Phantom!”</p><p> </p><p>

Blue Phantom stops. He looks Cat up and down. “Jemson. What can I do for you? I have a match next, please make this quick.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Just interviewing members of the roster, trying to eliminate some suspects from the events of a month ago.” She taps the notepad thoughtfully, studying Blue Phantom. “You were actually jumped by the clowns that night. They kept you from competing in your semifinal match in the Main Attraction Tournament.”</p><p> </p><p>

Phantom’s mask betrays no emotion and his voice is flat. “That’s correct.”</p><p> </p><p>

“So, maybe you wanted some payback?”</p><p> </p><p>

Phantom takes a step towards her. “If you are making a list of people that had conflict with Magwitch, it will be a very long list. I recall the show before that, you offered to get rid of the clowns. What were you up to that night?”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat smirks at him. “Really, Blue? You think I can take a clown? I’m flattered, of course, but not likely.”</p><p> </p><p>

Phantom holds her gaze for a long second. “Of course not. Excuse me.” A sweep of his long duster and the luchador has moved on.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/HAH0ba0.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/kqwLpAG.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/6l0mXzr.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/kqwLpAG.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/gpKBq7j.jpg</span><strong> </strong><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">W/ </span></strong><span>http://i.imgur.com/90Jt40p.jpg</span><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">

Blue Phantom vs El Mitico Jr vs Kamikaze (w/ Tabitha)</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

A fun triangle match between three ‘face’ wrestlers, even if DVW doesn’t have a solid face heel division. Kamikaze and Phantom really just fly around the ring tonight, while Mitico just seems a little off in his performance tonight. He tries to keep up with the other two and can’t quite match them. Perhaps he’s fighting a stomach bug. Or, perhaps, a foolish booker made this a High Spots match by mistake and Mitico is more of a technician.</p><p>

The best spot of the match sees Kamikaze going to hit his 450 Reverse Splash on Phantom. Mitico pulls him out of the way, causing Kamikaze to crash and burn. While he flops around in pain, Mitico gets the Northern Lights Suplex on Phantom and the victory.</p><p>

<strong>El Mitico Jr defeats Blue Phantom and Kamikaze. Rating: 53</strong></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

We go from the faded tents and dim lights of the DVW circus to a new locale. It appears to be an old, dirty parking lot outside a warehouse. In the distance, a city skyline twinkles in the night. A car pulls up and Elizabeth Bell gets out, closely followed by Levon Belanger. Look who got back on the full show! They are both dressed in more stylish clothes than usual. Bell wears her hair down, falling over a dark leather jacket.</p><p> </p><p>

Bell leads Levon to a door hidden in a shadowed recess. She nods at a large bouncer, who simply moves aside to let her enter the warehouse. </p><p> </p><p>

The inside is a stark contrast to the out. It’s well lit, with music blaring and people packed in, loudly talking and cheering. On one side, a makeshift bar sells beer. On the far side of the room, past all the crowd of people, a man sits on a large raised chair, just within the shadows, watching the floor of the warehouse without reaction.</p><p> </p><p>

Bell cuts through the crowds of people, many of whom hold drinks, papers, or both, until reaching the middle of the room. It’s a crudely constructed octagon, made mostly out of just wooden barricades standing on the hard concrete floor, to keep the occupants separated from the crowd. Two men are helping a third man, who is bleeding from his mouth and nose, out of the octagon. Two others, one with a megaphone in hand, watch him go.</p><p> </p><p>

“Hope that wasn’t your friend,” Levon says.</p><p> </p><p>

Bell shakes her head. “Nope.” She checks something on her phone. “According to the schedule, her fight is next. Pretty big odds on her opponent.”</p><p> </p><p>

“’Her’?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Oh, here we go!”</p><p> </p><p>

“Ladies and gentlemen!” the man with the megaphone proclaims and the room starts to quiet. “I would like to introduce you to our third bout of the evening. First up, a former champion of ours and owner of the nastiest right hand in town… this is Knuckles!”</p><p> </p><p>

Knuckles is a well-built heavyweight. Someone is playing a rap song over a mini speaker for him as he enters. The crowd cheers as he rips off his wifebeater to show off hard abs and tattoos. He plays to the crowd. The guy looks tough.</p><p> </p><p>

“And his opponent tonight, the enigmatic, mysterious… Storm!”</p><p> </p><p>

The crowd is noticeably quieter for Storm; quite a few actually boo her. She doesn’t acknowledge any of them. She’s smaller than Knuckles. She is wearing baggy camo fatigues and an old and stained hoodie. Dirty blonde hair tied back in a severe ponytail. She gives Knuckles a cool look before removing the hoodie to fight.</p><p> </p><p>

“Storm?” Levon asks Bell. Before she can answer, the fight has started.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/RdW8Mz3.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/kqwLpAG.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/Qj7AYDN.jpg</span><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Knuckles vs Storm</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

So, this is clearly not a traditional match, in any way. While it looks and feels like an unsanctioned UFC match, it is shot like a movie, with close camera angles and jump cuts. Knuckles comes out swinging and quickly takes control. Storm can not match his strength. She manages to avoid getting tagged with any solid strikes or kicks, he does manage to grab and throw her around. Knuckles pauses often, playing to the crowd that gets louder with every offensive move he makes.</p><p>

“She doesn’t look very impressive,” Levon says to Bell after several minutes of this. “Maybe we can recruit him instead.”</p><p>

“Give her a chance,” Bell responds. “She’s just drawing this out. Gotta make it look good. Watch closely.”</p><p>

Levon sighs and takes a long look at the bar.</p><p>

Back in the octagon, Knuckles throws Storm across the ring. She falls into the wooden barricades, proving they are more solid than they look. Knuckles, again, plays to the crowd, looking for more cheers. Storm, however, is staring past him, at the man sitting on the throne on one end of the building. Knuckles goads the crowd into chanting “Finish Her” along with him. He hauls Storm up by her hair. Steadying her with one arm, he readies the other for a finishing punch.</p><p>

Suddenly, Storm isn’t there. She dances under his swing, wrenching his other arm back in a sickening, unnatural direction. Knuckles screams in pain. Storm is all over the place now, scoring with quick strikes and solid kicks, as the bigger man swings wildly, hopelessly behind on every attempt. The crowd gasps as Storm’s strikes force Knuckles further and further back in the octagon. His injured arm dangles uselessly as several stiff kicks take him to his knees. Storm backs up to create space. She doesn’t give the stunned crowd a glance. Storm sprints forward, leaping into the air, and scoring with a charging elbow right to Knuckles’ temple. He falls.</p><p>

<strong>Storm defeats Knuckles. Rating: 75 (uh, what?)</strong></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The crowd boos and hisses, many throwing their betting stubs into the ring. Storm stands over the fallen Knuckles, moving only to give the angry crowd the finger. “Follow me,” Bell says to Levon, smirking at the shocked look on his face.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/uDE8wGn.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Back at the DVW circus, Corydon the clown leans on the sign outside of the clown tent. She studies her black nail polish, breaths on her hands and then wipes them on her skirt. Her makeup makes everything seem a little off and creepy.</p><p> </p><p>

Cat Jemson wanders up and nods at Corydon, trying to look friendly and comfortable. Corydon rolls her eyes in an overly exaggerated fashion. “What do ya want, Cat?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Just wanted to talk to the King. How’s Zonk today?”</p><p> </p><p>

“He’s still in mourning,” Corydon says. “For his lost title. He was robbed, ya know.”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat swallows hard. “I’m sure he’ll get another shot down the road.”</p><p> </p><p>

Corydon taps her nearby bat meaningfully. “Best keep walking now, though. Capeesh?”</p><p> </p><p>

Coulrophobia - Hellech and Pierrot - come running up. Pierrot gives Cat a long appraising look before addressing Corydon. Hellech never takes his wide, hungry eyes off Cat. “Corydon. We must see the king!”</p><p> </p><p>

“King. See the king,” Hellech repeats.</p><p> </p><p>

“He’s not seeing anyone today, Pierrot. Ya know that.”</p><p> </p><p>

“This…” Pierrot trails off as he looks at Cat again. Now even Corydon looks suspicious. “This is important. Very important.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Okay. Let’s go,” Corydon grabs her bat and leads the clowns inside. </p><p> </p><p>

Cat watches them go, concerned. “Oh, that cannot be good.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Austin Smooth vs Logan Wolfsbaine</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Commentary bring up the similar history between these two; how they are the most recent winners of the Fight For Your Spot roster matches. The match is fine, if a little underwhelming. Smooth is still pretty rough (nailed it!). They start with trading moves and counters in the ring. Austin tries, with surprising frequency and determined single-mindedness, to lock Logan into the Smooth Hold finisher. Every single time, Logan slips out or counters, and Austin just gets more and more frustrated.</p><p>

The match spills to the outside. Angry, Austin grabs a chair. The ref is right there, waving him off and trying to take it from him. Austin pulls away from the ref, though, and just waffles Logan with the chair. The ref immediately calls for the DQ.</p><p>

<strong>Logan Wolfsbaine defeats Austin Smooth via DQ. Rating: 54</strong></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The ref tries to herd Austin Smooth to the back. Chair still in hand, he allows himself to be led away. Behind him, Logan Wolfsbaine staggers to his feet. Smooth sees him and slips away from the ref. He jabs the chair into Logan’s stomach, causing him to double over. He drops the chair onto the floor and then plants Logan right on it with a vicious DDT. The ref calls for support.</p><p> </p><p>

Austin slides the chair out from underneath the prone Wolfsbaine. There’s a smear of blood on it. The ref, along with several security men, have appeared by now and start ushering him away. Chair in hand, Austin retreats to the back as the ref checks on Logan.</p><p> </p><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/uDE8wGn.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Somewhere in the trailer village of DVW, the Union has commandeered a small eating area. Shooter Sean Deeley sits on a picnic bench in the growing darkness of the evening; head bowed. Streetz is speaking to him, but Deeley brushes him off and stands.</p><p> </p><p>

“It wasn’t the first time I’ve lost a title match, Streetz. I’ll get over it.” He spots something off camera. “In fact, I think I may have found how.”</p><p> </p><p>

Standing at the entrance to the area is Jaime Quine. The witch stands still, head cocked to one side. “Sean Deeley,” she calls in a sing song voice. “Shooter. I warned you. You ignored my warning and pushed, farther than you should. You leaned over the ledge, Sean Shooter, and lost your balance.”</p><p> </p><p>

Deeley sighs, heavy. “Why is it that everyone in this place acts like losing that one match was the end of the world? It was a disappointment, yes, but I’ll just fight harder next time.”</p><p> </p><p>

Quine steps forward, approaching Deeley. “What does the Shooter find at the bottom of the chasm, I wonder. An ever growing line to get back up?”</p><p> </p><p>

Deeley is not amused. “You know, the best way to recover from a tough loss is to hit someone. How about you, Quine? Next show?”</p><p> </p><p>

“No, Sean.” Lowe Lapointe moves to stand beside Deeley; Cal Sanders on the other side. Streetz is somewhere behind them. “You are a member of the Union now, Sean. We stand together.”</p><p> </p><p>

Deeley looks surprised, but then grins. “Even better. Find some friends, witch. You face the whole Union in two weeks.”</p><p> </p><p>

Jaime Quine gives only a sly smile and wanders off. </p><p> </p><p>

“Who’s she going to find?” Sanders wonders. “Do we have a black cat or a flying monkey on the roster?”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Hugh de Aske vs Jacob Jett</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

As per the agreement, de Aske enters alone. He insists that Jett gets patted down before he can enter the ring. Jett smirks as he doffs his entrance gear.</p><p>

The match starts with a bang. An intense sequence of counter and counter move. Hugh dodges several superkicks. He gets really close to hitting Jett with a Cut Throat Driver, but he slips out. The two separate to catch their breath and the crowd rewards them with applause.</p><p>

The match is competitive and very evenly matched. Hugh takes whatever shortcuts he can to take and hold control. Jett’s speed and agility is on display again, as he hits and runs with effective strength. Hugh is no dummy, though, and works Jett’s legs throughout the entire match. He manages to hobble Jett, but not enough, as Jett slips out of Cut Throat Driver attempt and lures Hugh into an Emergency Landing (Top Rope Legdrop Bulldog).</p><p>

<strong>Jacob Jett defeats Hugh de Aske. Rating: 69</strong></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Jett celebrates after the match. He even offers Hugh a hand to help him up. The pirate takes it, only to drill Jett with a right once he gets to his feet.</p><p> </p><p>

“The dread pirate is not happy about that result,” Curran notes sagely on commentary. Hugh spits at Jett before angrily stomping away to the back.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Pavel Vanzycha (w/ Marina del Ray) vs Elliot Thomas ©</span></strong></p><p><strong><span style="font-size:12px;">

For the Main Attraction Championship</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

“The champion making his first title defense tonight,” Lee says by way of introduction. Unlike the title bout in the last show, Jon Hansen is nowhere to be seen as the bell rings. This match is off to a much slower start than the last, with the two combatants slowly feeling each other out. It isn’t too long before Thomas shows some of the skill and athleticism that made him champ to begin with, hitting Pavel with a gorgeous missile dropkick, but Pavel rolls out of the ring before Thomas can hit the Quiet Down moonsault.</p><p>

Thomas goes to follow up, but Marina gets in his way. Thomas pushes her off. Pavel is right there, though, leveling Thomas with a lariat and taking control. His time spent jobbing in TCW was not a waste, as Thomas sells Pavel’s offense like the plague.</p><p>

The momentum turns multiple times, most of it in the ring. Pavel wrenches Thomas’s arms back, prepping him for the Cross Armlock finisher. He actually gets it in at one point, but Thomas scores a rope break. Pavel wastes too much complaining to the ref. Thomas is back on his feet and takes control with a series of kicks. A DDT drops Pavel near the corner. He leaps up the turnbuckle, clearly looking for the Quiet Down moonsault.</p><p> </p><p>

“SEND IN THE CLOWNS!”</p><p>

El Hijo del Zonk’s music hits and the clown king enters from the back, flanked by Corydon, Hellech and Pierrot. Thomas watches them from the turnbuckle, confused. Pavel slowly rises to his feet. The clowns slowly make their way down the aisle. Thomas drops down from the turnbuckle, ending up in the ring with Pavel. The ref goes down to confront Zonk and the clowns. He says something to Zonk, but the king drills him. The bell rings.</p><p>

<strong>Elliot Thomas and Pavel Vanzycha ends in a draw. Rating: 63</strong></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The clowns slowly surround the ring. Marina del Ray cowers somewhere outside. Pavel and Thomas go back to back. The clowns slowly advance in through the ropes. Pavel pushes Thomas right at Zonk who almost decapitates him with a lariat. Hellech and Pierrot jump Pavel and start beating him down. Corydon is going after Thomas with her bat. Zonk walks right over him. Hellech and Pierrot hit Pavel with a Send In The Clowns. Thomas is next. Corydon drills him with a kick, then Coulrophobia gets another Send In The Clowns.</p><p> </p><p>

At some point in the chaos, El Hijo Del Zonk grabbed a microphone. His clowns crowd around him, all taking a knee. Zonk raises the mic.</p><p> </p><p>

“I. Want. Revenge.”</p><p> </p><p>

The final image is the clown king, arms spread wide, in the centre of the ring, his clowns arrayed around him, before the broken bodies of the champion and challenger.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/uDE8wGn.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

“This way.” Elizabeth Bell leads Levon Belanger into a dark, makeshift change room. The fighter called Storm sits on a bench, her sweatshirt back on and the hood drawn up. </p><p> </p><p>

Storm doesn’t look at them as they enter. “Elizabeth Bell. I thought I saw you earlier.” She pulls out a duffel bag. “I assume this is about what we discussed.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Our deal, yes,” Bell nods.</p><p> </p><p>

“Good. Let’s go. I don’t like to waste time.” Storm stands, allowing the others to see her face clearly for the first time.</p><p> </p><p>

Levon gasps. “What- but you’re…”</p><p> </p><p>

Storm grunts. “If we’re working together, you don’t have to call me ‘Storm’. Use my real name.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Alicia Strong.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<p>Thanks to everyone that reads Distant Thunder. It's a bit longer than most of my episodes so far, but I did have a blast writing it. Big things ahead for DVW (hopefully).</p><p> </p><p>

Prediction Contest Results - Unless my math is waaaaay off, the big bad MrWolf is the winner. Beginner's luck, indeed. (which reminds me, I have to go make my likely terrible predictions about your next show). He runs the board with the exception of the Thomas-Vanzycha draw. That one was a little unfair. I'm hoping to not get into the habit of RAW endings, it just really made sense for the clown-terruption. Wolf, feel free to post here or PM your choice for theme music. The entire DVW roster is available, with the exception of Jaime Quine. I'm only going to veto it if I think you're trolling me, essentially.</p><p> </p><p>

Thanks for reading all!</p><p> </p><p>

PS - And yes, that was the real match rating for Knuckles vs Storm. I was shocked.</p>

<p>Thanks for the kind words, Wolf.</p><p> </p><p>

I kind of figured that the 75 was also helped by Knuckles' popularity, as well. Still, he got fatigued. He was just on a "Hire Local" deal, FYI, so there's unlikely to be a Knuckles-Strong II.</p><p> </p><p>

I like the song and think it fits well with Coulrophobia, if that's ok with you. If you want to look for a Mitico song instead, go right ahead. There's no rush. His theme (in my head) has always been the main theme from Uncharted <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>

Haha, all good. Coulrophobia definitely works, and I think you've nailed Mitico's theme as well. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

<p>Thank you again to everyone that has been reading DVW. Please, throw out some predictions! Win a chance to name your favourite DVW wrestler's entrance music (as long as that wrestler is not Jaime Quine, Hellech or Pierrot). Here is the card for the next show:</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p>

<span>http://i.imgur.com/uDE8wGn.jpg</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The secret is out! El Hijo Del Zonk and his clown followers have found out Magwitch's death, before ringleader Jon Hansen and his assistant Cat Jemson could find out who is behind the murder. Zonk interrupted Elliot Thomas's first ever title defense and his clowns laid waste to both Thomas and challenger Pavel Vanzycha. What does Zonk have in mind for the next show? And will Thomas or Vanzycha respond?</p><p> </p><p>

The night's massive main event sees the Union's forces of Sean Deeley, Cal Sanders and Lowe Lapointe take on Jaime Quine. Can the witch find two partners willing to stand with her?</p><p> </p><p>

Plus, see other favourite DVW talents, like Snow Leopard, Zalim, Logan Wolfsbaine, Chucky Dorrance, Sonny Wildside and Corydon! All in action at DVW <strong>For Blood</strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<p>I'm pretty sure my beginner's luck ends here. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<em>I'm thinking Mitico has to be one of the partners, and that combined with Jaime, is enough to push them over the top in my mind. Of course, I'm most likely wrong. </em><img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>El Hijo Del Zonk</strong> vs Pavel Vanzycha</p><p>

<em>With the Magwitch storyline going strong, I think Hijo needs to take this.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>As good as Maria is, I think Blue Phantom is the bigger impact player for you.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Coulrophobia</strong> vs Hellcat Hernandez and Sonny Wildside</p><p>

<em>Thinking dissension between Hellcat and Wildside will cost them the match.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>I like Snow Leopard's render. That is my sole reason for picking him. </em><img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Another pick based on render.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>Usually the named tag team takes it, but I'm such a fan of Logan I have to pick him here.</em></p>

<p>The Union (Shooter Sean Deeley, Cal Sanders and Lowe Lapointe) vs <strong>Jaime Quine and ????</strong></p><p>

(FYI, the mystery partners are members of the DVW roster)</p><p>

<em>Twice I thought I knew who the partners were before seeing them further down the card. But I think it is Hugh and Joanna, which would make this an interesting match.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>El Hijo Del Zonk</strong> vs Pavel Vanzycha</p><p>

<em>Clown shenanigans ensue. But I think Zonk is the stronger competitor, and while Pavel got the title shot, he was filling the role for the beatdown from the clowns.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Blue Phantom</strong> vs Corydon</p><p>

<em>Not all the clowns can win, and Corydon is the weakest member. Plus, Phantom has some beef with the clowns. FWIW, he was my first guess for Quine's partner.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Coulrophobia vs <strong>Hellcat Hernandez and Sonny Wildside</strong></p><p>

<em>I expect the clowns to be as underhanded as ever, but Hernandez and Wildside are having a heck of a storyline, so I think they get the win. This was another prediction for Quine's teammates.</em></p><p> </p><p>

Chucky Dorrance vs <strong>Snow Leopard</strong></p><p>

<em>Poor Chuck.</em></p><p> </p><p>

BlackOut vs <strong>Zalim</strong></p><p>

<em>Poor BlackOut. But he was another of my "Quine partner" picks. As you can see, I am not good at the '???' game.</em></p><p> </p><p>

<em>This has only one guy that I think really is in the plans for DVW (Wolfsbaine), although Smooth should be here for some help.</em></p>

1.8 For Blood</span></p><p><span style="font-size:18px;">

</span></p></div><p></p><p></p><p>

Sunday, Week 4, June 2018</p><p>

Held in Mid South, USA.</p><p>

Attendance: 4,200</p><p>

Available online. Commentary by Samuel Curran and Gerrard Lee</p><p> </p><p>

<em>Previously, on Dixie Vaudeville Wrestling…</em></p><p><em>

Shooter Sean Deeley and the Union challenged Jaime Quine to find two partners and meet them in the ring. We see Cat Jemson talking to her mysterious contact on the phone, followed by a rapid recap of Magwitch’s death and the clowns invading the main event at the end of the last show. The recap ends with the final image of the last show; El Hijo Del Zonk posing over the bodies of Elliot Thomas and Pavel Vanzycha.</em></p><p><em>

</em></p><p> </p><p>

The show opens in the cramped office of ringleader Jon Hansen. In contrast to the previous few episodes, Hansen actually doesn’t look that bad. He still has the dark bags around his eyes, but he is cleanshaven and his clothes actually look like they were washed recently. He is typing painfully slowly on his computer.</p><p> </p><p>

Cat Jemson reclines on the old couch that sits on one side of the office, tapping away at her phone. Whatever is affecting her boss’s sleep is apparently having little effect on her. Cat looks as good as ever.</p><p> </p><p>

“What’s the time?” Hansen asks, without looking up from his monitor.</p><p> </p><p>

“There’s a clock on the computer,” Cat replies. Now Hansen does look up, raising an eyebrow at Cat. She sighs. “We’ve got about ten minutes.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Okay. Good. I’m just going to mail this letter.”</p><p> </p><p>

“You mean, ‘send your email’?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Hm.” Hansen hits a few more keys. He types like your grandmother, one key at a time. “And send,” he mutters. The task complete, Hansen claps his hands and stands. “Done. Let’s get going.”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat gets to her feet, brushing down her red ringleader’s jacket. “You seem to be a good mood tonight, Jon. You got something up your sleeve?”</p><p> </p><p>

Hansen smiles and shows his cuffs, like a magician. “Honestly, having it all out in the open helps. It was the stress of keeping the secret of Magwitch’s death that was getting to me. Now that Zonk knows, we can deal with it. I don’t suppose your investigation has turned up anything?”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat shakes her head. “No one saw Magwitch all night. Or at least, no one claims to have. No witnesses. Most of the roster is simply content to point fingers at each other.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Damn. But hardly surprising.” He heads out the front door of the office trailer, motioning for Cat to follow. </p><p> </p><p>

She gives him an unsure look. “Not sure if I would look forward to dealing with Zonk.” Cat grabs her top hat from a nearby table before following Hansen.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/uDE8wGn.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

In the arena proper, the creepy music of El Hijo Del Zonk hits. There is a chorus of boos from the audience as the clown king makes his entrance, flanked by his entire faction; Corydon, Hellech and Pierrot. Zonk does not look to be a good mood. The luchador is glaring from underneath his mask and wears none of his gaudy, cheap finery. Hellech growls and snaps at the crowd near the aisle. Even Corydon looks serious.</p><p> </p><p>

The clowns enter the ring. Zonk takes a mic from a staff member. “A moment of silence, please. For the loss of our dear friend, Magwitch.” The clowns bow their heads. The crowd is far from silent, but they don’t seem to notice. The clowns - Zonk especially - never seems to notice what the crowd really does. After the minute of silence, Zonk slowly raises the mic again.</p><p> </p><p>

“Jon… Hansen… I demand answers from you.” There’s a pause. Zonk stalks around the ring, with his clowns in each corner. Corydon points her bat threateningly at Curran and Lee at the commentary table.</p><p> </p><p>

“Hansen!” Zonk yells. “I will have an audience. NOW!”</p><p> </p><p>

There’s another pregnant pause, before, finally, Hansen’s music hits. The ringleader of DVW reluctantly enters from the back. Cat Jemson trails behind him, as do about four security guards. “El Hijo Del Zonk. Good evening.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Answers, Hansen!” the clown yells. “Start talking. A good beginning would be, who killed Magwitch?”</p><p> </p><p>

“We don’t know yet-”</p><p> </p><p>

“NOT GOOD ENOUGH!” Zonk screams. “My friend. My compatriot - my comrade, is dead. For over a month. And you know nothing yet? The killer, Hansen, I want his blood.”</p><p> </p><p>

“We’re looking, but this is DVW. It’s not like we have security cameras everywhere. The circus has it’s secrets, Zonk. You know this.”</p><p> </p><p>

Surprisingly, this seems to appease Zonk. The clown calms himself, nodding along with Hansen. “Yes. The circus is be trusted even less than yourself.” He looks around, as though suddenly suspicious of everyone, before turning back to Hansen. “Then another way. While you stumble for answers, I demand a title match. Tonight. Thomas’s title win was a fluke. Tonight, I shall avenge my loss with a victory, in honour of fallen Magwitch.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Elliot Thomas isn’t here tonight,” Hansen replies. He points at the clowns. “You jokers injured him two weeks ago and our medical staff has given our champion - our Main Attraction - the show off. But-” Hansen adds, quickly, before Zonk can interrupt again, “I can give you another match. I see that you are angry, all of you. I get it; I understand. So let me give you all a way to work out your frustrations, by giving every member of the clown faction a match; tonight. Sound good?”</p><p> </p><p>

Zonk looks around at his troops. Corydon winks and gives him a big ‘thumbs up’. Hellech laughs and Pierrot rubs his hands in anticipation. Zonk turns back towards Hansen with a smirk. “Deal.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Good. Now get out of the ring because the first match is now and I won’t have you interfere.”</p><p> </p><p>

Blue lights flash and odd alien sirens wail. The house lights dim and Blue Phantom makes his entrance from the back. The first match of the night is next!</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Blue Phantom vs Corydon</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

El Hijo Del Zonk has an odd sense of honour. Flanked by Coulrophobia, Zonk quickly vacated the ring, striding past Hansen, Cat and Phantom with a noble nod, leaving this to a straight one on one. After the bell rung, Corydon has a big argument with the ref over whether or not she could keep her bat.</p><p>

The match is a really good back and forth affair. Phantom looks all business, but is frequently checking over his shoulder. “It’s almost like he doesn’t trust Zonk or Coulrophobia to not get involved,” Curran suggests. Corydon, on the other hand, is distracted by just about everything else. She argues with the ref, tries to bring in her bat, takes a moment to pose for the crowd and even blows kisses to Sam Curran.</p><p>

It looks like Corydon’s antics are about to get the better of her, as Phantom gets her set up for the Phantom Cradle. Somehow, Corydon manages to roll through, surprising Phantom, but he slips out of the pinfall. Corydon taps her head, taunting him. Phantom doesn’t pause, taking advantage of Corydon's taunting to hit another Phantom Cradle and this time getting the pin.</p><p>

Snow Leopard and El Mitico Jr stand in the middle of Heroe’s deserted living trailer, recognizable by the memorabilia photos on the wall and the giant Mexican flag over one wall. For the viewers that don’t remember the trailer from episode 1.4 - the last time we saw it - Snow Leopard mentions it. “So…this is Heroe’s trailer.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Was Heroe’s trailer,” Mitico corrects his friend. The luchador moves around the small room, looking through papers and small items. The trailer looks untouched since Hansen and Cat were here. To reinforce this point, Mitico rubs some dust off a shelftop. “Heroe is not here and it looks like he hasn’t been for some time.”</p><p> </p><p>

“We must find out the truth behind Zalim if we are to stop him. Even a rookie cop could see that Heroe’s disappearance must be tied to Zalim’s appearance. The timing is too much of a coincidence,” Leopard says.</p><p> </p><p>

“And that’s ignoring all the other evidence,” Mitico adds.</p><p> </p><p>

“What do you mean?”</p><p> </p><p>

Mitico motions to a picture of Heroe posing in the ring that’s taped on the wall. Oddly, the photo looks about thirty years old. “I’ve seen videos of Heroe’s work. And I’ve watched videos of Zalim from here in DVW. They are quite similar. Zalim’s finishing kick, especially, looks just the Heroe Kick.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Ah, you overlooked one detail, my friend,” Leopard says. “While Heroe delivers his kick with his right foot, Zalim uses his left… A mirror image?”</p><p> </p><p>

The two meet eyes for a dramatic stare. “Zalim is a threat to all of DVW, my friend,” Mitico says. “We must defeat him and rescue Heroe.”</p><p> </p><p>

“If rescue is still a possibility. I feel like Heroe may have completely disappeared into Zalim,” Leopard adds. “Let us focus on Zalim for now. We shall have to meet him in combat.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

The Family Fantastic (w/ Tabitha) vs Logan Wolfsbaine and Robby Griffin</strong></span></p><p> </p><p>

The increasingly frequent team of Logan/Robby gets some work tonight, taking on the acrobats of the Family Fantastic. Devyn and Kamikaze get the crowd going with their energetic entrance, along with the beautiful Tabitha. There’s a fun moment to start this match where Tabitha gives both Devyn and Kamikaze a good luck kiss. Griffin, ready to start the match for his team, motions her over, into ring. She smiles, then gives him a good luck kiss, too, getting laughs from the crowd, as well as her team. “We going to fight or mess around,?” Logan complains loudly.</p><p>

The match itself is absolutely crazy. Short, but fast paced and full of crazy dives and quick action. This is a spotfest, but a really fun one. Devyn, Robby and Kamikaze seem to be trying to outdo each other with ridiculous dives, flips and leaps. One sequence sees Robby somersault over the ropes onto Devyn. Kamikaze then hits a shooting star press from the turnbuckle onto both of them. Logan, the only man left in the ring, almost reluctantly climbs a turnbuckle. The three exchange blows on the ground in front of him. Logan plays to the crowd, getting them to egg him on, before hitting a nice looking cross body on all three.</p><p>

The Family Fantastic will get the last laugh, though, as double superkicks to Logan take him out of the picture. A few seconds later, the High Wire Act finishes Robby Griffin.</p><p>

Cat Jemson is walking backstage, talking on her phone. “Yes, yes. I told you before that we looked at your footage. It’s quite impressive, but DVW doesn’t-”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat makes a face as she stops short. She’s clearly annoyed that the person on the other side cut her off. She listens for a few seconds before interjecting. “Look. The next time we hold a match for a roster spot, I’ll make sure to drop you a line, but it’ll be a month. At least. Good day.” She rolls her eyes as she presses ‘end call’.</p><p> </p><p>

“Cat!”</p><p> </p><p>

She looks up at the yell, to see Sonny Wildside and Hellcat Hernandez striding over to her. Sonny’s earbuds hang around his neck and he wears a douchey looking vest without a shirt combo. Hellcat is buried in a large hoodie. “Sonny. Hellcat. Nice to see you both.”</p><p> </p><p>

“We have a problem with our match,” Sonny says.</p><p> </p><p>

“I don’t, really,” Hellcat says. “One opponent is the same as the next. One partner is the same as the next.”</p><p> </p><p>

Sonny looks deeply insulted by this. “How can you say that, babe?”</p><p> </p><p>

Cat holds up her hands. “Look. You wanted a match. I made you a match.”</p><p> </p><p>

“Yes, but-”</p><p> </p><p>

“Sonny.” Cat takes a step towards him. “The day is coming. Loyalty will be rewarded. Trust me.” She pats Sonny on the cheek before walking off.</p><p> </p><p>

Hellcat narrows her eyes and looks at Sonny. “What is she talking about?”</p><p> </p><p>

Sonny shakes his head, suddenly serious. “It’s not important. Let’s get ready for our match.”</p><p> </p><p>

His answer does little to satisfy Hellcat, but she shakes it off and follows him out.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">Chucky Dorrance vs Snow Leopard</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

This was not a particularly competitive or long match. Dorrance does well selling for Leopard and makes the superhero look good. He gets a little love from the crowd, who chant "What's In The Box?" to him at one point, in reference to the large crate Chucky brings to the ring. The answer will have to wait. He gets some offense, but not enough for anyone to really ever doubt the ending. Leopard finishes it with a nice kick combo, followed by the Leopard Suplex finisher.</p><p>

Somewhere in the DVW trailer village, BlackOut sits, in flickering light, staring at the piece of paper he found a few weeks ago. The eyeholes in his mask narrow as he squints at the note.</p><p> </p><p>

“BlackOut?” The masked man looks up to see Blade Kimiyama standing a few metres away, watching intently. “What are you doing?”</p><p> </p><p>

BlackOut wanders over to Blade, showing him the note. “You ever seen something like this before, Blade?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Have I ever seen paper before?”</p><p> </p><p>

“I mean, a note like this. I found this on site.”</p><p> </p><p>

Blade shakes his head. “It’s nothing, BlackOut. Don’t you have a match?”</p><p> </p><p>

“Oh. Right.” Still, BlackOut doesn’t move to leave. Instead, Blade just rolls his eyes and walks off. The camera follows Blade and it’s not long before he finds Logan Wolfsbaine and Robby Griffin. The two lounge around on a picnic table. Griffin is icing his shoulder and Logan is doing something on his phone. Blade loudly clears his throat.</p><p> </p><p>

“What do you want, Blade?” Logan asks, glaring.</p><p> </p><p>

“Another loss.”</p><p> </p><p>

“I don’t exactly see you stringing together the wins,” Robby grunts. “Besides, Logan was injured from that cheap shot Austin Smooth took at him two weeks ago.”</p><p> </p><p>

“I’m offering to help you,” Blade says. “At the very least, I will teach to lose to with dignity and not excuses.”</p><p> </p><p>

“You don’t have anything to offer,” Logan says.</p><p> </p><p>

“Then prove it,” Blade says. “Meet me in the ring next week.”</p><p> </p><p>

“I can’t wait,” Logan grins.</p><p>

The clowns seem more serious and focused tonight. At least, Pierrot does. Hellech looks to be chuckling at a joke the whole way to the ring. When they reach the ring, Pierrot grabs his partner by the back of the head and pulls him close. The two have a hurried conversation; probably Pierrot telling Hellech to concentrate.<p> </p><p>

Hellcat Hernandez and Sonny Wildside are out next. He dances to the ring (I always imagined it as similar to THE Brian Kendrick), while Hellcat stalks a few metres behind him. Curran and Lee try to discuss their relationship on their way to the ring. “Are they dating?” Curran speculates. “Is he blackmailing her? Is he paying her? Is she paying him?”</p><p> </p><p>

“All of the above, Sam,” Lee laughs.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Coulrophobia vs Hellcat Hernandez and Sonny Wildside</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Whatever their out of ring issues may or may not be, Sonny and Hellcat make a formidable team. The tag problems they had a few weeks ago, they have put them aside, making tags just as frequently as the clowns. There is still some friction; especially when Sonny tries to give her a command or instruction. There’s one funny moment where Sonny and Hellcat hit a nice double dropkick on Hellech. Sonny looks like he’s going to celebrate by smacking Hellcat on the ass, but she stops him with a glare. He slowly backs out of the ring.</p><p>

This is a fun match, with a lot of moving parts and quick tags. Hellcat, Hellech and Pierrot are doing some of the best work of their careers in DVW, while Sonny is probably one of the most exciting workers in the company. Anything he does looks good. It should come as no surprise when this match completely breaks down. Double teams abound and they all trade pinfalls. Coulrophobia dump Hellcat and spend a good portion of time working over Sonny (who sells extraordinarily well). They can’t quite put him away in time, as Hellcat recovers and makes the save. She helps Sonny up, then tries to guide him to ropes. She is trying to get him out of the ring to make it a legal tag. Meanwhile, Hellech and Pierrot are back up. Suddenly, Sonny pushes Hellcat off him and towards the clowns. She staggers right into a Send In The Clowns. Sonny’s back, hitting superkicks on both clowns. He throws Hellech out of the ring and hits the Fear Factor (Cradle Piledriver) on Pierrot for the win.</p><p>

Sonny celebrates, helping Hellcat to her feet. As soon as she manages a vertical base, he drops her to go celebrate on the turnbuckle. She stumbles and Sonny hurries back to help her up again.</p><p> </p><p>

“Big win for Wildside and Hellcat tonight,” Curran says, “but I don’t think Hellcat will be too happy about how it happened. When she remembers.”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/wDxR5aI.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/kqwLpAG.jpg</span><span>http://i.imgur.com/1g7ufVF.jpg</span><p>

<strong><span style="font-size:12px;">BlackOut vs Zalim</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

BlackOut looks pretty outgunned here. To his credit, he doesn’t back down, though. He tries to entice Zalim with a lockup to start, being a shade bigger than him. Zalim responds by kicking BlackOut in the stomach and slapping him in the face. The rest of the match goes the same way. Whatever momentum BlackOut gets is short-lived, as Zalim’s vicious attacks throw him around the ring.</p><p>

It seems like the match might turn when El Mitico Jr and Snow Leopard come out from the back to observe. The two masked men stay on ramp, though, watching from afar. Zalim yells at them, unintelligible. BlackOut comes up behind him and grabs him, but Zalim reserves and scores with a leaping DDT. He yells at Mitico and Leopard again, waiting for BlackOut to rise at the same time. Villain’s Kick and this one is over.</p><p>

El Mitico Jr has a mic. “Zalim. Heroe. Whomever you really are. Your reign of terror has gone on too long. Find a partner or meet us without one; we don’t care. But next show, you will face justice. You will face El Mitico Jr and Snow Leopard.”</p><p> </p><p>

Zalim strains against the ring ropes, yelling and screeching, but he doesn’t leave to face them.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

A dark room. There’s just enough ambient light to make out the shadowy form of the clown king, El Hijo Del Zonk. He sits on a bench, not his throne, with his head in his hands. The camera moves behind him. Arrayed before Zonk are Hellech, Pierrot and Corydon. The clowns are unusually still and silent.</p><p> </p><p>

“Two losses,” Zonk says, quietly. He raises his head. He is angry. “Two matches and two losses.” He takes in a deep breath. “The day is always darkest right before the dawn, my friends. I am king and this is my domain. For Magwitch.”</p><p> </p><p>

“For Magwitch!” the others echo.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

El Hijo Del Zonk (w/ Corydon) vs Pavel Vanzycha (w/ Marina Del Ray)</span></strong></p><p> </p><p>

Lee speculates that Zonk brought Corydon out with him as a counter to Marina. Pavel’s diminutive manager certainly does the clown a wide berth; making sure to put the entirety of the ring between them as Zonk and Pavel lock up. The match starts slow, as Pavel studies his opponent carefully before attacking. There’s a feeling out phase, where they take turns hitting moves and shaking them off. Zonk is the first one to string a few moves together, leveling Pavel. He taunts the Polish grappler. “You aren’t in my league, son!”</p><p>

This only fires up Pavel. The match is a hard hitting, back and forth affair that, somehow, manages to actually stay inside the ring. Pavel works on the arm of Zonk, a strategy that has the added effectiveness of setting him up for the Cross Armlock while also making it more difficult for Zonk to hit his finisher. Zonk is a focused machine, rarely giving Pavel a chance to catch his breath.</p><p>

Pavel does manage to catch Zonk in the Cross Armlock, but Zonk powers out of it and throws Pavel off him. The Polish wrestler retreats, frustrated, and looks to be lining Zonk up for a charging move. He’s right by the ropes. Corydon, for the first time all match, interferes, grabbing Pavel’s ankle. He pulls away from her quickly, but the distraction is enough time for Zonk to blindside him with a big lariat. ZONK BOMB!</p><p>

<strong>El Hijo Del Zonk defeats Pavel Vanzycha. Rating: 65</strong></p><p>

</p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

The ref raises Zonk’s hand in victory. Corydon jumps onto the ring apron, about to enter the ring to celebrate with her king, when a hooded figure slips out of the crowd and attacks her from behind. The attacker knocks her down and throws her to the floor. The attacker leaps into the ring. El Hijo Del Zonk, tired from his match, has just noticed what is happening when the attacker drills him with a right hand. Off the ropes, running enziguri! The attacker leaps onto the turnbuckle and his hood falls down. It’s Elliot Thomas!</p><p> </p><p>

“What’s Elliot Thomas doing here?” Curran yells. “Hansen told us the champ was injured!”</p><p> </p><p>

“Guess he wasn’t so injured after all,” Lee observes, dryly.</p><p> </p><p>

Quiet Down moonsault onto El Hijo Del Zonk. The crowd is cheering. The ref, and several security members, are in there trying to pull Thomas away. “No more!” he’s yelling at the prone clown king. “You don’t get to attack me any more!”</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/uDE8wGn.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Wonderfully oblivious to what just happened in the ring, ringleader Jon Hansen is whistling to himself as he walks through the dark alleys of the DVW trailer village. He seems to be a good mood. Hansen reaches his trailer, instinctively reaching for the keys in his pocket. He freezes, though, as he notices the door to his trailer is open.</p><p> </p><p>

Hansen glances around him. There’s no movement in the area, although some crowd noise can be heard from the bigtop in the near distance. Hansen frowns at his trailer and takes a step forward. Hansen rolls his shoulders. He’s no small man, remember. Steeling himself, he reaches for the door and pulls it open.</p><p> </p><p>

His office stands empty and, at first glance, appears untouched. His computer sits the desk, holding down stacks of paper as it did earlier in the day. Hansen’s eyes narrow as he looks around, clearly searching for some reason why his office was broken into. He flicks on the lights and turns around completely. He gasps and curses.</p><p> </p><p>

On the wall beside his door, in big dark letters, a message is spray painted.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong><span style="text-decoration:underline;">I’m Coming Back.</span></strong></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i.imgur.com/uDE8wGn.jpg</span></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Back in the arena, The Union’s music hits. The four of them enter together, but there is a distinct contrast within the group. Shooter Sean Deeley leads the way, all business. He hops into the ring, stretching out his shoulders on the ring ropes. Streetz isn’t far behind him, yelling and calling to the crowd about how great the Union is. Lowe Lapointe is “hyped up”, as Gerrard Lee puts it. He’s jumping around, trying to pump up the crowd even more. Cal Sanders finds a comfortable seat on top of the turnbuckles as he takes off his shirt to wrestle.</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div class="ipsEmbeddedVideo"><div><iframe width="200" height="113" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/9SSUQxGjZZ4?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" title="Godsmack - Voodoo (Official Music Video)"></iframe></div></div><p> </p><p>

Jaime Quine emerges from the fog, alone. She comes down the ramp partway, staring around with that wide-eyed look. A confident smirk passes her face. In the ring, the Union challenge and call her. “Where are her partners?” Lee asks.</p><p> </p><p>

Two shadows form in the fog, slightly hunched, on either side of Quine. They emerge from the fog, solidifying into solids. The Amazing Fire Fly and Ant-Man. They stop beside Quine and she places a hand on both of them, before leading the trio down to the ring.</p><p> </p><p>

“The Hive!” Curran proclaims on commentary, showing his unique talent for stating the obvious, “Quine’s partners tonight are the Hive!”</p><p> </p><p>

“How did she convince them to do that?” Lee wonders.</p><p> </p><p>

“Look at them! They’re enthralled; she’s enthralled them!”</p><p> </p><p>

“The hell does that mean?”</p><p> </p><p>

The Union (w/ Streetz) vs Jaime Quine and The Hive</strong></span></p><p> </p><p>

Lapointe starts off with Firefly, as Lee and Curran continue to discuss Quine’s surprise partners on commentary. Lapointe can’t keep up with the speedy FireFly and quickly ends up on the outside, allowing Cal Sanders in to try his luck. Like Lowe before, Sanders can’t keep pace, but does slow FireFly down with a cheap shot. Ant-Man tags in and throws Sanders out. There’s fun stand-off between the powerful Ant-Man and Sean Deeley. It takes awhile before we get to the money matchup - Quine against Deeley. The two stare at each and slowly circle. Lowe Lapointe tries to take advantage and cheap shot Quine, but she drops him with a quick kick. In an effort to show her up, Deeley grabs FireFly from the apron, pulls him in the ring and launches him with a big suplex.</p><p>

Deeley gets the better of their first standoff, but Quine gets lots of opportunity for revenge during the match and all the workers get a chance to shine. FireFly, one of DVW’s underrated workers, is a little off his game tonight. Tough luck for his first appearance in the main event. He does hit a gorgeous looking splash onto Lapointe and Deeley outside at one point. Quine levels just about every member of the Union with a KO Kick during the match (minus Streetz, who wisely stays away). Lapointe hits Ant-Man with the Crying Game kick. Deeley even gets FireFly in his Armbar finisher, only for Quine to save the day.</p><p>

The frenetic match comes to an end with Quine and Sanders alone in the ring. Sanders ducks under a KO Kick, bounces off the ropes and runs right into another one. He looks out cold. Quine regards him for a moment, almost confused, then goes for a pin. Deeley is back on the apron. Quine spots him coming and points at him. FireFly comes out of nowhere to spear Deeley through the ropes and onto the floor. It’s academic at this point.</p><p>

<p>Thanks for the patience and for all the predictions, guys/gals/people. Believe it or not, I was actually ahead of the game in turns of writing up For Blood. I only had the main event to finish and then I contract some sort of death plague cold. I'm kind of the world's biggest suck when sick, so of course, it took me a week to finish the main event.</p><p> </p><p>

For Blood's card was, apparently, fairly predictable. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. DVW runs a show every other week. And even though I don't have monthly PPVs, I kind of feel like I'm in pattern of peaks and valleys. The first few shows were building to the Main Attraction and now we're kind of building to the next thing. I'm pretty excited about the next show, though. I simulated it this morning and was rewarded with the highest ever match rating in DVW history. Yay!</p><p> </p><p>

Pteroid went 100% in the prediction contest. If you want, Pteroid, you can pick the Entrance Music for your favourite DVW talent! The only exclusions are Jaime Quine, Hellech and Pierrot. Hit me up on PM or reply here or randomly approach me in public or whatever.</p>
