The Harlem Wrestling Alliance, it was the unwanted step-child of Warren Young up until Mr. G bought the company from Young. HWA is known for it’s hardcore in your face style filled with nothing but sex and violence. This... this isn’t wrestling.....it’s TRASH! That’s what all the “experts” are calling the shows HWA put on and you know what, they’re right.

 

 

January 8, 1977

 

Mr.G: [picks up his office phone and calls the home of an old associate] Hey, I heard dem white boys down south gave ya ass the boot.

 

???: You heard about that?

 

Mr.G: You know who I am MJ. I know everything man.

 

MJ: Yeah well they did and I know this ain’t a check up call so what you want?

 

Mr. G: Well, I think it’s high time dat Magnum Johnson came back home dontcha think?

 

MJ: [smirking] Magnum Johnson back in the HWA kicking ass? Call my mama and tell her MJ coming home. Ima see you soon.

[Hangs Up]

 

Mr. G: [Looks up to someone in the office with him after hanging up the phone.] You was right T. If you in the loop like dat den I guess I made the right choice. You sure you don’t care bout making chump change with us?

 

T: [Laughing] Say fool, I’m “King of the Ring” Tyson motherf*cking Lang. Ima bring in so much money that even the crooked politicians watch in amazement. Chump change, we won’t be making chump change for long brother and only a fool would believe that.

 

Mr. G: [smiling] I can dig dat. Its time for Harlem to take over the wrestling world.

 

[The two men exit the back office and goes to the front of the restaurant for some chicken and waffles]
