Thoughts

Grade-wise it was a good, if perhaps not excellent, PPV. Carried by the angles really. I do still have faith that Frehley will develop into a star that can pull out the top grades. But I'll go more into grades/popularity details in a future post. Anyway hope you all enjoyed the show. I'm excited to post the next few shows/PPV as it really changes some stuff.

Khoklov defeats Law

This served a few purposes really, mostly Khoklov needed a big win in his first singles match and I consider Law a fairly big opponent for him. Rick isn't there yet but I'm definitely hoping he can challenge for the main event. The match rating might say otherwise but I think that was mostly due to it being too long for Khoklov. It was also a way for Trent to get one over on Law and help keep their feud going. In theory Law could carry on going after Marat but I think it's more likely the long running feud over the title will take his focus again.

Andre Jones defeated Joss Thompson

You guys are definitely right that the Texas Title doesn't mean too much at all, it doesn't worry me really as the plan for it is to serve a small role in their storyline and then become mostly associated with developmental/alliance. So I think even if the matches are fairly throwaway, the fact that it has been defended on big PPVs would still help its prestige when it appears on Lone Star Wrestling. I can see why some thought Joss would win but I can't keep the 50/50 going for ever, although that's not to say this feud is over quite yet.

Rich Money defeats Nicky Champion

So the main reason for this is to tie into the storyline that Champion is in a bit of a rut at the moment, he lost out fully to Frehley and now loses another big match. His time away is unlikely to be long as he important for ticket/merch sales and national battles, but I'm trying to keep him out of the spotlight a little bit so when I'm ready to get properly behind him USPW style, it's a little fresh. It's also helping up build others around him. Rich needed the win as with Steve's actions tonight, the heel side need a boost.

Alina and Melody defeated Raven and Tiffany

This was mostly to introduce Alina who becomes quite important over the month or so that I've written. Letting him pin Raven was a big decision but I think Raven has been kept strong in general so hopefully the loss is a shock to some.

Steve Frehley defeated Enygma

Not too many surprised with this. I do still have hopes Enygma can get one last title run, but Steve needed a good clean win, especially to help his face turn. Hopefully it comes as a surprise to see Money vs frehley as the direction going forward, as opposed to Champion vs Frehley or Enygma vs Rich which I think people assumed from the predictions. Saying that, there is also Khoklov and others in the championship mix so things can still change...

It's interesting having Frehley as top USPW face (at least whilst Nicky is away) as he is more of a middle ground between face/heel which isn't something I want to do often in USPW. In my head plenty of hardcore USPW fans might struggle to accept the face turn as he isn't the type of good guy they are used to, but hopefully he can win them around.

Job Security: 90% He still has a lot to offer and isn't in time decline. Perhaps has potential for one big main event push?

Diary so far: He started off 2016 in a bitter feud with Rich Money. Rich always got the best of him in singles action but he found some retribution by eliminated him from the 5v5 match.

Marat Khoklov

Strengths: Star quality and menace both 100! Is a great special attraction and is good enough to be carried to great matches.

Job Security: 85% Currently very important in national battle but unlikely be featured heaviliy in order to keep the msytique.

Diary so far: Was pinned by Enygma in 5v5 on his debut, but is now the top muscle in The Russian Supergroup. Despite his defeat has been booked very strong.

USPW History: Debuted in January 2016, helping USPW overtake SWF in the war.

Character: Wild monster, but has some brains and so is often king of the monsters. Huge Russian giant.

Tyson Baine

Weight: Muscular Big Heavyweight

Strengths: Menacing USPW legend with excellent basics.

Job Security: 80% Is a respected veteran who can still go currently but is clearly a few years past his prime

Diary so far: Has mostly been used to improve the midcard but kept fairly strong. Currently given important task of getting Ross Henry introduced to USPW via their feud.

Character: The personification of evil, has recently ditched most the supernatural stuff in favour of a more realistic metalhead like badman.

Trent Shaffer

Weight: Toned lightweight

Strengths: Stands out due to his size in a land of giants. Charistmatic

Job Security: 90% Young, promising and offers something different. Doubts over whether he could ever be a true main eventer though.

Diary so far: Has been mostly injured but this helped him avoid Law. Now has important role in The Russian Supergroup storyline.

USPW History: Recently joined from his home country, CGC, and has made a quick impact.

Character: Weasly Canadian. Does whatever he can do get by, spineless.

Thoughts: So the Frehley turn has clearly tipped the scales in the heroes direction. But it's perhaps a bit misleading. Whilst Henry is popular, he isn't really going to be treated as a true main eventer. Perhaps some rebalancing needed though? 6 of 11 main eventers over 40. And two at 45. It's an ageing main event scene but not yet worrying. Steve and Nicky could have a decade left in them as the two top stars and the likes of Rich and Enygma may be over 40 but have lots left in the tank.

USPW History: 7 year USPW career. Has held the TV title twice and won the National Title to go with his Texas Title.

Character: Hard working guy who mostly keeps to himself.

Strengths: Star Quality, Great Physique

Job Security: 50%, Would be lower as he doesn't have too much to offer, but his USPW history keeps us loyal to him.

Diary So Far: Has mostly be on a downwards trajectory.

USPW History: Here since 2002. 4x World Title holder (2nd only to Nicky) but his last reign was back in 2005, 2x Tag Champion, 2x National Champion, 1x TV title. Not held a title in 7 years but one of the greatest USPW champions ever.

Character: A true gentleman, but isn't exactly the life of the party. But like his partner he gets his head down and works hard.

Casey Valentine

Popularity: C

Age: 27

Weight: Toned Middleweight

Strengths: Very good all rounder. He can brawl, wrestle, has good basics, charisma and decent star quality. Especially for his age.

Job Security: 95% Is one of the most likely to break into the main event in the future.

Diary So Far: Has been feuding with James Justice. Has lost his TV title but been in plenty of important matches.

USPW History: 2x TV Champion. Joined USPW in 2013. Was at first teamed up with his uncle Peter but luckily escaped that pairing when Peter retired.

Character: His problem is he knows just how talented he is. But still often choses the easy way. Could have been a future figurehead but has chosen the heel path.

Jumbo Jackson

Popularity: C

Age: 41

Weight: Bulky Big Heavyweight

Strengths: Good basics and consistency. Fits the mould of USPW heel perfect.

Job Security: 60%, his USPW history will probably keep us loyal to him. But his main event days are certainly over.

Diary So Far: Has failed to make a big impact but has won a couple of decent matches.

USPW History: Joined in 2007. Is one a few people to have held the World, TV, and National title (all once).

Character: Surly, moody giant who is happy to throw his huge weight about. Rarely cares enough to get involved in personal storylines but often gets into fights.

Joss Thompson

Popularity: C

Age: 34

Weight: Ripped Light Heavyweight

Strengths: 92 Star Quality and good basics.

Job Security: 90%, I would say it's a 50/50 chance of whether he will ever main event, but either way he should have a decent career here.

Diary So Far: Feuding with Andre Jones but has mostly been outdone by him.

USPW History: Joined in 2015, was a star in the UK but has yet to win a title at USPW.

Character: Cocky and thinks he is better than he is. He takes his impressive pyhsique very importantly, very vain.

Petr Novak

Weight: Ripped Big Heavyweight

Strengths: Great look, very menacing

Job Security: 75%. Depending on how he progresses, he might not get any higher up the card. But he fits USPW perfectly and so will likely be useful for a good few years. But isn't great in ring.

Diary So Far: Has been in major storylines and this looks likely to continue due to being part of The Russian Supergroup.

USPW History: Here since 2010, 3x Tag Champion.

Character: Intense, massive Russian monster.

Krusher Karloff

Popularity: C

Age: 45

Weight: Muscular Big Heavyweight

Strengths: Menacing

Job Security: 30%, definitely at the end of his career. Time decline isn't yet badly hurting his stats but they aren't great to start with. But is part of The Russian Supergroup which at least gives him some current security.

Diary So Far: Has been dominant with Petr as part of The Cold Warriors.

USPW History: Joined in 2010 and has been 3x Tag Champ.

Character: Bully who likes to throw his weight around. Age has only made him more grumpy.

Thoughts: It's an interesting mid card. Quite a lot of veterans. Some of them have a chance at a career revival, or at least staying relevant. Others will likely not be so lucky if a new generation starts to come up. Then people like Joss, Andre, Petr, Casey, Eddie and DC all could feesibly make a push for the main event but there certainly isn't space for all of them so some are destined to be forever midcard.

Freddie Datsun

Job Security: 20% His grades are starting to decline but his history with the company means we will keep him until he has no use left.

Diary So Far: Mostly been losing to the midcard.

USPW History: Been with USPW since 2006 and has won everything World Title, National Title and TV Title once and the Tag Titles twice.

Character: American everyman. Hard working good guy who has had to fight hard to make up for his small (for USPW) size.

Julius Moor

Popularity: D+

Age: 28

Weight: Muscular Big Heavyweight

Strengths: Very physically impressive. Big and fast. High potential

Job Security: 95%, still some unknowns but he could be a future star.

Diary So Far: Mostly on the B show but has teamed up with Ross Henry whihc will likely get him more screen time.

USPW History: Starting wrestling in 2014. Yet to make a real impact or win any titles but has impressed any learnt fast.

Character: Ex-footballer, very loud and energetic.

Running Wolf

Popularity: D-

Age: 28

Weight: Muscular Heavyweight

Strengths: Extremely resilient, decent basics for his age.

Job Security: 80%, he fits the mould of USPW face well. He's also young and has decent basic skills. Would need to improve though to ever make a push for the main event.

Diary So Far: Has barely features on American Wrestling but is being given time on the B show. Hopefully at some point a storyline pops up for him.

USPW History: Been his since 2011, yet to win a title.

Character: Proud American Indian, respectful and always willing to fight the bad guys. Clean cut babyface.

Donte Dunn

Popularity: E-

Age: 25

Weight: Muscular Light Heavyweight

Strengths: Excellent athelticism and relience. Very good star quality.

Job Security: 95%, will be sometime before he gets any real push. But he has all the raw talent to be huge.

Diary So Far: Nothing of note.

Character: Hard working rookie who is exciting to climb the ladder. Happy-go lucky.

Dusty Ducont

Weight: Bulky Big Heavyweight

Strengths: Powerful and menacing

Job Security: 70% He isn't hugely talented, but most the big monster heels are old so if he develops he could become a decent USPW heel.

Diary So Far: Only really on the B show but has a storyline going with his demanding manager/girlfriend.

USPW History: Here since 2010 but yet to win a title.

Character: Big burly southern monster. Farm boy.

T-Rex

Popularity: C-

Age: 40

Weight: Ripped Super heavyweight

Strengths: Physique, Tough and menacing

Job Security: 60%, T-Rex is getting on, and so is his more talented tag partner Tyson. If Baine retires it's unlikely that T-Rex which have much left to offer. But for now his stats aren't declining so he's a decent heel.

Diary So Far: Mostly used with Baine. The Titan's have been kept strong but not T-Rex individually.

USPW History: Joined in 2014 and is a fomer World Champion and has also held the National Title

Character: Aggressive monster.

Charlie Thatcher

Popularity: D+

Age: 40

Weight: Muscular Big Heavyweight

Strengths: Menacing look

Job Security: 20%, Thatcher doesn't have too much to offer and won't be improving at his age. Will be one of the first to get whenever there is a younger monster waiting to debut.

Diary So Far: Barely featured.

USPW History: Joined in 2011 and has captured the TV Title on one occasion.

Character: Bodyguard/Gun for hire. Serious and calculated.

Tribal Warrior

Popularity: C-

Age: 43

Weight: Muscular Big Heavyweight

Strengths: Powerful and menacing

Job Security: 25%. He is an ok monster but for his age doesn't have enough going for him to be worth any sort of push. Better people 10 years younger than him. His character is a bit unique though and he has a long history at the company.

Diary So Far: Barely featured

USPW History: Here since 2003. Has won the TV title twice and the tag titles 5 times. Second only to Mick Muscles and Danny Rushmore (Towers of Power) for most tag reigns.

Character: Animalistic savage. Samoan powerhouse.

Atlas

Popularity: D+

Age: 30

Weight: Muscular Big Heavyweight

Strengths: Great size and decent basics.

Job Security: 60% He will likely become a decent monster heel but doesn't have the star quality or stand out skill to be an exciting prospect. But because of his age he is ranked higher than other monster heels.

Diary So Far: Hasn't done anything on the A show but has picked up some momentum on pre shows.

USPW History: Been here since 2011 but is yet to have broken out and won anything on note.

Character: Generic monster that is yet to have really found his character.

Thoughts: the lower card is a mixture of veterans slowly becoming irrelevant and youngsters trying to improve. So in my eyes exactly what it needs to be. You could say there is a lack of real exciting talent but the way I'm viewing my structure is that most exciting prospects go to LSW. Win titles, improve, and then debut when there is a storyline for them. The prospects that have promise but aren't exactly exciting go to the lower card to try and scratch and claw their way up. Saying this, Moor and Dunn are both 'Next Big Things' in the game and so could buck this trend. I would also say the lower cards needs some heels that aren't monsters. USPW is the land of the giants but in the same way Trent Shaffer offers something different to the main event, I think a new heel could do the same for lower down.

Job Security: 70%. Is currently one of the stars of the division, and deserves to be. But is likely to decline soon.

Diary So Far: Has been in the major womens storyline and has won the title. Teased going back to her Goth Persona but instead turned in to a 'do whatever it takes' type heel.

USPW History: Here since 2009, 3x Womens Champ

Character: Veteran who was respected but has sold out her respect by cheating in order to cling on to the spotlight.

Tiffany Jade

Popularity: D-

Age: 26

Weight: Toned Small

Strengths: One of the best in ring performers, great brawler. This makes her stand out in the division.

Job Security: 95%, She doesn't have the entertainment skills of some of the women but in general she is one of the most talented despite also being so young. Likely to be a key member of the division for some time.

Diary So Far: Made a statement by re-injuring Alicia Strong and alligning herself with Raven.

USPW History: Here since 2012 and is a one time Womens Champion.

Character: MMA-inspired badass. Looks down on a lot of the women.

Gorgon

Popularity: D

Age: 35

Weight: Bulky Lightweight

Strengths: Good basics, unique look.

Job Security: 70%, whilst she isn't extremely talented, she can put on good matches and because of her size and facepaint offers something different to the division.

Diary So Far: Not done so much and failed to pick up much momentum. Focus has been on other heels.

USPW History: Joined in 2010 and is a 1 time champion.

Character: Bitter veteran. Grumpy and doesn't like the new girls trying to take her spot. Enjoys using her power.

Killer Kass

Popularity: E+

Age: 22

Weight: Bulky Middleweight

Strengths: Huge size, already decent for her extremely young age.

Job Security: 90%, She might not get many storylines and could even be sent down to LSW, but she is a definite prospect for the future.

Diary So Far: Has rarely featured.

USPW History: Signed in 2014.

Character: Little is known about Kass but because of her size she has a never back down attitude that can became more of a bullying streak.

Thoughts: there are definitely some key stars in the division that can be relied upon. But there are also a lot of great women in AAA and other places that could always force some of them out. I often use one night deals from LSW for the women so in reality there are a good 3 or 4 more that often get matches on the preshow/b show. But I want to wait until they get involved in any storylines or officially get the call up before I add them. In general though looking forward, Alicia, Alina, Jade and potentially Kass make for a very strong core.

Overall the roster has enough stars to really make a run for the undisputed top promotion. The middle card is experienced and there are a couple of real prospects, especially when you consider that most of them are at Lone Star Wrestling so I only need a few prospects on the actual roster at one time. There is a bit of an inbalance in the face/heels but that's temporary and gives a chance for someone like Casey or Joss to make a push for the top of the card.

You're both fully right about the age of the roster. It's something that's very obvious whenever you takeover USPW, even in 2013, so it's even worse now. However in the first poll you all decided that I should stay true to USPW and only get rid of the useless old people. So even if they are 40+, if they can pull good grades, they can keep a good spot. At least until younger people naturally start challenging their grades which might take a long time to happen.

I figure those guys need to help push the young generation and get them up to speed. Also, the way I figure it, AJ Styles and John Cena are 39 and they're amazing. Jericho is 46 and he's probably the most entertaining, versatile guy in the WWE. Older guys who can still go definitely have a place in the USPW and they'll make awesome road agents or personalities when they retire.

Thanks for all the responses for the prediction prizes. The next IAMAVATAR post will be up soon which will reveal what everyone has chosen. This next one will narrow down the choices for his name. I wanted to wait to find out whether he will be in a mask or not first.

One of the most important episodes of TNBT in that all of the segments could have made the A show as storylines were progressed. The whole drawing in beat the clock would be extremely hard to pull off but hey this is wrestling, I’m sure the ref could just count it down perhaps in USPW they don’t have the clock ticking on the screen and instead they just announce the times, that way they can just lie. Or perhaps they only count the minutes.

Roger Smooth is Roger Cage. And so a pretty big debut really as he fits USPW very well. He’s one of the best talkers in the business and so will likely go far. I considered giving him a more important debut on the A show but I wouldn’t want him to get lost in the shuffle. Here he can take some time to gain popularity slowly and always have a storyline. Plus I need tag teams and his team with Dusty (The American Cowboys) picked up a big win against two former World champs. The idea is that Dusty is a big southern boy, Roger is a fast talking New Yorker, they will be a sort of opposites attract team. P.S yes I’m aware that Dusty is actually Canadian but hey USPW loves kayfabe and wouldn’t let a silly thing like that get in the way of a new American team.
