NXT: The Takeover

Recommended Posts

After another successful NXT Takeover in San Antonio, the wrestling world was shocked as an announcement came out after the Royal Rumble where Triple H announced that himself, William Regal and Matt Bloom had bought NXT from Vince McMahon and the WWE and they would be turning it into it's own company to grow no longer as a developmental company but as it's own brand. Tonight in Full Sail University it holds it's first show in the new era.

Triple H and William Regal come down to the ring to start off a historic night of NXT.

Triple H says "Years ago it was just an idea. Then that idea became a reality and that reality became a success. Tonight I stand here in the ring just days after another successful NXT Takeover in San Antonio and I am proud to announce that NXT is no longer the developmental of the WWE and is instead it's own company and it will be run by myself, William Regal and Matt Bloom as we look to take NXT to that next level and complete the Takeover"

Regal says "And speaking of Takeover: San Antonio, tonight Bobby Roode will be here to address his controversial title victory against Shinsuke Nakamura. Also tonight the new tag team champions The Authors Of Pain will be in action and Tye Dillinger will be here after his defeat to Eric Young last Saturday"

Elias Samson defeated Mada in 1:03 with the Rolling Cutter in a 21 E-

The Authors Of Pain defeated The Bollywood Boyz with The Last Chapter in a 32 E

Post match Paul Ellering got a microphone and said "My authors have only just begun their story. They will continue to destroy as the story unfolds and no one will take their titles" 48 D+

Ember Moon defeated Mandy Rose in 4:13 with The Eclipse in a 33 E+

After the match Ember said "Last week at Takeover San Antonio 3 women stood up to the challenge of Asuka and they failed. Now it's my opportunity so Asuka: I'm calling you out" 29 E

Eric Young and SanitY are celebrating their victory in the ring when Tye Dillinger's music hits.

He says "At NXT Takeover Toronto I had you beaten EY but your friends got involved and cost me that match and cost me yet another chance to win at a Takeover but I know that on any day I can beat every single member of SanitY so next week I challenge Alexander Wolfe to a singles match with no interference and I'll show that I am truly the Perfect 10" 37 D-

Bobby Roode defeated No Way Jose in 16:17 with the Payoff in a 54 C-

Bobby Roode grabs a microphone after his victory tonight.

He says "Last weekend in San Antonio fans all over the world watched the rebirth of NXT as I became the champion and just like I said it would NXT is going to be the big leagues now that I'm at the top. Look what happened as soon as I won this title, Triple H and William Regal decided to take this company to new levels. Now I have been informed that Shinsuke Nakamura's injury that he suffered during our match will keep him out for up to a month, so I can reign over this company and it will finally be Glor..."

He is cut off by the music of TM61 as Nick Miller comes onto the stage.

He says "What you did to Shinsuke was horrible Bobby. Just 2 weeks ago I could only watch as my best friend was injured at the hands of The Revival and he will be out for 8 months and then I watched Takeover and the exact same thing was happening to Shinsuke. So I want my first match as a singles competitor to be against you next week"

He says "It feels good to be back here in NXT and I have one thing in mind that has brought me back here. The NXT Cham..."</p><p> </p><p>

He is cut off by the sound of music coming from the back as Elias Samson walks out onto the ramp.</p><p> </p><p>

He sings "A hero has returned to where it began, A home where he was rejected and forgotten by the fans. Now there's a new hero in town, The Drifter Elias Samson and what this company needs is what I am"</p><p> </p><p>

Samson leaves just as soon as he came leaving Ohno in the ring confused at what just happened. <strong>30 E+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Killian Dain defeated Angelo Dawkins in 3:16 with the Ulster Plantation in a <strong>17 F+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Asuka defeated Mandy Rose in 0:52 with the Asuka Lock in a <strong>37 D-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Post match Asuka grabs a microphone and says "Ember Moon wants to face me and take my title? No can defeat Asuka" <strong>18 E-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The Authors Of Pain defeated Ho Ho Lun & Kevin Kiley in 3:44 with The Last Chapter in a <strong>34 E+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Oney Lorcan defeated Buddy Murphy in 7:25 with the Blockbuster in a <strong>24 E</strong></p><p> </p><p>

After his victory, Lorcan was celebrating when he was jumped from behind by Andrade "Cien" Almas who hadn't been seen since he lost to Roderick Strong at Takeover and he would beat down on Lorcan before being separated by security. <strong>13 F+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The main event was an important match on both sides. Nick Miller is looking to make an impact on the singles scene with Shane Thorne suffering an injury and after seeing what Bobby Roode did to Nakamura, he wants to show that injuring someone will have it's consequences. Meanwhile Bobby Roode is still undefeated in NXT and he is looking to turn NXT into a better company and a loss tonight against Nick would see his plan scuppered. Miller put up a good fight against the NXT Champion but in the end it would be Bobby Roode who picked the victory in a <strong>51 D+</strong> with the Glorious DDT but tonight Miller did show his potential at being a singles competitor and both Regal and Triple H took notice of this.</p>

NXT Takeover Orlando week 3 March 2017

Venue: Florida Americraft Expo Center

Attendance: 4,962

The first takeover of this new era in NXT would begin with the leader of SanitY Eric Young taking on 'The messiah of the backbreaker' Roderick Strong. Both men made their Takeover debuts at NXT Takeover: San Antonio where Eric Young defeated Tye Dillinger and Roderick Strong put away Andrade 'Cien' Almas and both men have been pinned for the first time in the last month when Roddy lost to Shinsuke Nakamura and EY was pinned also by Shinsuke Nakamura in a tag match just 2 weeks before this. EY came down to the ring without Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe who were in action later but he was joined by Nikki Cross. In 16:12 both men stole the show and in the second best match of the night, Eric Young would defeat Roderick Strong with the Wheelbarrow Neckbreaker but only after an interference from Nikki Cross who hit Roddy with a middle rope diving dropkick while Eric had the referee distracted. 52 D+

Up next we saw a hype video for Elias Samson vs Kassius Ohno. The Drifter interrupted the debut of Kassius Ohno and said that he was the new face of NXT and that Ohno was a forgotten face and he really showed his skill last week when he defeated Bully Ray but Ohno followed up by knocking him out. 21 E-

Samson may have come into this match high on momentum but he didn't show it in this match as KO dominated for the whole 12 minutes and Samson got very little offence in. However he got a bit of luck when he locked in the Boston Crab on KO who managed to make it to the ropes and then just minutes after this he would hit the K.O on Samson and he walked away with the victory. 38 D-

Earlier on tonight we saw Eric Young pick up the victory over Roderick Strong but up next we saw two other members of SanitY in Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe taking on the makeshift team of Oney Lorcan and Tye Dillinger as Tye continues to try and take down SanitY. Both teams had very little experience teaming before this but they both showed great chemistry together as Oney and Tye worked together to take down Wolfe but as soon as Killian Dain entered the match the tides changed as he ran through both members of the opposition team. Oney Lorcan came into the match and tried to save his partner but Lorcan got an Ulster Plantation from Killian for his trouble but the distraction worked and Killian turned right around into a Tye Breaker from Dillinger and he fell into the cover on Dain and got the 3 count for his team as they picked up the surprise victory over SanitY. 38 D-

Another tag team match would follow this and it would be a rematch for the NXT Tag Team Championships when #DIY took on The Authors Of Pain accompanied by Paul Ellering. The Authors are still undefeated since debuting in NXT and they took on the former champions tonight. In 15:10 #DIY put up a strong but Akam wiped out Tomasso Ciampa with a powerbomb on the ramp and then him and Rezar worked together to hit The Last Chapter on Johnny Gargano and The Authors Of Pain made the first defense of their NXT Tag Team Championships. 40 D-

We went from one set of undefeated NXT Champions to another one when Asuka defended her Women's Championship against Ember Moon who until last week was also undefeated until last week when due to interference from both Asuka and Billie Kay she lost for the first time against Peyton Royce. Asuka has beaten everyone she has faced so far from Bayley to Nia Jax to Liv Morgan but she had never faced Ember Moon and tonight Moon put up the largest challenge she had faced yet and she almost put Asuka away when she hit The Eclipse on Asuka but much to the surprise of everyone Asuka was able to kick out at 2. following this Asuka worked her way back into the match and it looked like she might retain her title when locked in the Asuka Lock on Ember. She seemed to be passed out and the referee started to check her hand 1,2 Ember powers out and reaches the ropes forcing the break. Asuka was furious at this point and she went right after Moon and started kicking her but out of nowhere she was hit with a Fallaway Slam and then she picked her back up and hit a second Fallaway Slam before climbing to the top rope and hitting The Eclipse for the second time 1,2,3. Ember Moon has won the NXT Women's Championship and ended the undefeated streak of Asuka at the same time. 45 D

The semi main event saw one of the largest debuts in NXT history as Adam Cole made his NXT debut by taking on Nick Miller. Miller stood up to the NXT Champion Bobby Roode last month and although he was unsuccessful, William Regal and Triple H rewarded him by giving him a chance to prove himself against Adam Cole. Just like he did against Roode, he put up a great fight and there were a few close pinfalls but in the end he was hit with the Florida Key from Adam Cole who picked up his first victory in NXT. 49 D+

We then saw the hype video for main event which would be the rematch for the NXT Championship when Bobby Roode defended his title for the first time at a Takeover against the former champion Shinsuke Nakamura. It shows how in San Antonio, Shinsuke Nakamura lost the title following a leg injury which kept him out for a month but tonight they would face off in a 2 out of 3 falls match. 60 C

The two would put on a great match just as good if not better than their last encounter and both men simply did not want to lose. Shinsuke brought it right out of the box on the first fall and within just 7 minutes he hit a Kinshasa on Roode and earned himself the first fall. However before the bell had even rung for the 2nd round Bobby Roode hit a chop block on Shinsuke Nakamura and sent him crashing to the floor in pain. The attacks on the leg would continue from Roode as he target the same leg that Shinsuke injured in San Antonio and the second fall would go to Bobby Roode when he made Nakamura tap out to the Single Leg Boston Crab. Shinsuke could barely stand as the 3rd and final fall began but he managed to take down Roode when Roode ran straight into a knee from Shinsuke but Nakamura went down under the leg injury. While the referee was checking on him, Roode rolled out of the ring and grabbed his NXT Championship and climbed back inside. Shinsuke made it back to his feet and out of nowhere he went for a Kinshasa on Roode only for Nakamura to connect with the title belt and he went down with the leg injury while Bobby took advantage and hit the Glorious DDT on Shinsuke and picked up the victory to retain his title. 66 C+

Eric Young defeated Roderick Strong with the Wheelbarrow Neckbreaker-52 D+

Kassius Ohno defeated Elias Samson with the K.O-38 D-

Oney Lorcan and Tye Dillinger defeated Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe when Tye pinned Dain with the Tye Breaker-38 D-

Authors Of Pain defeated #DIY to retain their Tag Team Titles with The Last Chapter-40 D-

Ember Moon defeated Asuka for the Women's Championship with The Eclipse (x2)-45 D

Adam Cole defeated Nick Miller with the Florida Key-49 D+

Bobby Roode defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to retain his NXT Championship by two falls to one with the final fall happening with the Glorious DDT-66 C+

NXT Wrestling week 2 April 2017

Venue: Full Sail University

Attendance: 300

No Way Jose comes down to the ring with a microphone to start off NXT. He says "2 weeks ago I made a proposition to Adam Cole, to create a brand new team and we could work together to take down SanitY but Adam Cole walked out on me and left me on my own to fight against 2 monsters. So Cole get your ass out here and explain why you did it?"

Cole comes out to the ramp laughing and says "You really thought I'd want to team with you? You're a joke around here and I am the hottest prospect in the world. I only agreed to team with you because I felt sorry for you, sorry that you think you're such a positive person with your stupid dancing when in fact you are just a joke"

Jose: "That may be what you think Cole but everyone back there would disagree with you. It's just because you've got tunnel vision that you can't see that in fact it's you that is the joke but you know what Adam. In 2 weeks time at Takeover: Breaking Ground I want you one on one and I'll show you who the hottest prospect in wrestling is" 40 D-

Shinsuke deserves better than The Drifter... nothing wrong with Samson but I think he needs an edge to his character. Meanwhile, everyone and their mother was expecting Cole to turn on No Way Jose! No Way BayBay just had a nice ring to it so we held out hope... Poor Paul Ellering. Could he return with a super over babyface team to take on AoP? I hear The Ascension's available <img alt=":p" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/tongue.png.ceb643b2956793497cef30b0e944be28.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Attendance: 300

The number One contender Roderick Strong comes down to the ring to start off NXT. He says "Last week on NXT I defeated Tye Dillinger but I have to accept that were it not for SanitY then I would not be here but in my place would be Tye Dillinger but Tye: When I win this Saturday, I promise you that the first person I will defend against will be you...""

GLORIOUS

Bobby Roode comes out to the stage with a microphone and says "Did you just say you would defeat me? Hahahaha that's a good one Roderick. What have you done since you debuted here? You've had one Takeover victory and that was months ago and last month at Takeover you suffered a defeat to the very man that gifted you that Number One Contendership Eric Young so you can't come out here and tell me that you're going to take my title because you are a joke. See you on Saturday Strong"

He walks off the stage laughing.

Roderick picks up his microphone again and says "Bobby, hey Bobby. I know you're watching back there even if you refuse to admit it so I have one message for you and it's this: You can under estimate me all you want and you can walk away from me laughing but the only person walking out this Sunday with that NXT Championship is me after I lay your ass out with the Sick Kick" 60 C

The Authors Of Pain defeated Bollywood Boys in 4:10 with the Last Chapter in a 34 E+

After the match Prince Nana grabs a microphone and says "When I see an opportunity I grasp at it and this was the perfect opportunity. Paul Ellering was holding these monsters down and now under me they can realise their full potential further than just holding these NXT Tag Team Titles..."

He is cut off by the music of William Regal.

He says "Sorry for interrupting but I am here to tell you that The Authors Of Pain will put their NXT Tag Team Championships on the line this Saturday at NXT Takeover: Breaking Ground in a triple threat tag team match against the two teams you attacked last week: The Revival and #DIY" 55 C-

Tye Dillinger rolls into the ring but Eric Young retreats with the rest of SanitY following the match and Tye grabs a microphone. "SanitY! It seems our business is yet to be finished so this Sunday I want a match one on one with Killian Dain and then I'm coming for you Eric Young and then finally, finally I can go on to win that NXT Championship" 48 D+

<p>NXT Takeover: Breaking Ground: Saturday week 3 April 2017</p><p>

Venue: Tennessee Bristol Viking Hall</p><p>

Attendance: 5,001</p><p> </p><p>

If their's one way to get a crowd into a PPV it would be to start off with former 2 time NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura who comes down to the ring to start off the show for his match against the much despised Elias Samson. Nakamura was much simply better than Samson in this match and it was clear that Samson wasn't on Shinsuke's level and he had bitten off more than he can chew. He put up a good fight but in 13 minutes Shinsuke Nakamura hit the Kinshasa to pick up the victory to start off the show. <strong>55 C-</strong></p><p> </p><p>

After that good match, it would be followed by the worst match of the night when Aleister Black took on 'The Curse Of Greatness' Angelo Dawkins and while Black was on top of his game, Angelo Dawkins just doesn't seem to have what it takes to be here in NXT. Black tried his hardest to make this a good match but in the end it took the fans out of the PPV and after 6 minutes of this match he would put away Dawkins with the Diving Double Foot Stomp. 32 E+</p><p> </p><p>

Last month Ember Moon shocked the world when she Eclipsed the undefeated streak of Asuka and took her NXT Women's Title. Since then Asuka has not been seen but Moon has been on the receiving end of beatdowns from Billie Kay and Peyton Royce and tonight Ember Moon would put the title on the line for the first time against Billie Kay. This was a good match and Kay put up a real fight against the champion and with the interference of her friend, she came close to winning the title. Ember Moon had Billie Kay set up for The Eclipse when Peyton Royce pushed her off the top rope forcing the referee to eject her from ringside but this gave Billie the chance to recover and she hit her Running Big Boot 1,2, Kickout. Ember Moon kicks out to the surprise of everyone especially Kay who slaps her but that only motivates the champion who takes Billie down again with a series of Forearms and then finally hits the Eclipse to pick up the victory and walk out still the NXT Women's Champion. <strong>46 D</strong></p><p> </p><p>

For months now Tye Dillinger has been fighting SanitY and tonight he would go up against the monster of the group Killian Dain. It was a good match which was affected by Dain not being over with the fans but they were firmly on the side of the Perfect 10 who was on the back foot for the majority of this match. The match would go on for 16 minutes when Killian went for a running senton on Tye but her rolled out of the way and rolled up the big man 1,2,3. Tye picks up the victory and immediately escapes the ring and the attack of SanitY. <strong>33 E+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

The Authors Of Pain have run wild over the NXT Tag Team division since they debuted and attacked American Alpha. Since then they have won the Dusty Tag Team Tournament and were crowned as the NXT Tag Team Champions when they defeated #DIY at Takeover: San Antonio but tonight they would head into Takeover with a new man by their side in Prince Nana and they would put their titles on the line against #DIY and The Revival. It was a very good match as longtime rivals of DIY and The Revival worked together to get rid of the big men before starting to brawl with each other in a rematch from their MOTY Candidate at Takeover: Toronto. It looked like it could be over and that it would be over when The Revival hit a Shatter Machine on Ciampa but before the ref could count the 3, Akam pulled both men out of the ring and him and Rezar hit the Super Collider on the ramp. This left Akam and Rezar to fight the unlikely duo of Scott Dawson and Tomasso Ciampa who's tag team partners had just been laid out. Surprisingly Ciampa and Dawson worked well together with Ciampa hitting Rezar with a running knee at the same time that Dawson chop blocked him from behind but when they argued over the pin they were both laid out by Akam who hitting a double clothesline and then helped Rezar to his feet where they hit Ciampa with the Last Chapter and walked out still the NXT Tag Team Champions. <strong>45 D</strong></p><p> </p><p>

A few weeks ago we saw the formation and destruction of a new tag team as Adam Cole joined up with and then subsequently turned on No Way Jose and tonight they would face off as both men looked to get towards the NXT Title scene and it was a very good match. The two could have been great tag team partners but they were clearly amazing opponents as Cole and Jose put on one of the best matches of the night. It was a back and forth match and the two were met with a standing ovation when Adam Cole hit Jose with a Superkick only for Jose to respond with a spinning leg kick and both men crashed to the mat. In the end however it would be Adam Cole who picked up the victory and remained unbeaten when he pinned Jose following the Florida Key. <strong>50 D+</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Following this we would have our main event of the evening when the NXT Championship was on the line. First to enter into the match would be the challenger: 'The Messiah of the Backbreaker' Roderick Strong and he would soon be followed by the Champion 'Glorious' Bobby Roode. Roode has picked up some huge victories lately against Shinsuke Nakamura and Bubba Ray Dudley while Roderick Strong beat Tye Dillinger and Kassius Ohno to become the number one contender so both were on a run of momentum coming into this match. Both men fought back and forth in this match and it was definitely the match of the night as both men threw everything at each other and Roderick hit a huge Argentine Backbreaker before hitting Roode with the Sick Kick 1,2, Foot on the rope. Bobby Roode managed to get his foot on the rope and saved his title. Strong continued to have the advantage after this but he was took down with a Chop Block from behind and then lock in the Single Leg Boston Crab but Strong made it to the rope but when Roderick was on his feet, he was hit with the Glorious DDT from Roode 1,2,3. Bobby Roode retains his title and raises it in the air as the PPV goes off air. <strong>65 C</strong></p>
