Numerous promotions had been created during the past 10 years to try and capitalise on the popularity of wrestling at the time, but none had managed to survive for more than a few months, as all the talent was already working for OLLIE. MPWF was different, as it was a promotion formed by four of OLLIE's major stars, who had left after a contract dispute. With that star power, MPWF were able to survive the tricky opening months, and through clever tactical moves were able to thrive. This led to the "Challenge Era", which would last from the early 80s until 1998. Throughout this time, MPWF were able to grow at a rapid rate, and were able to challenge OLLIE in direct competition, thanks largely to the emergence on their roster of Mexican legends Luis Montero and the original Mr. Lucha Manuel Prieto, and the young American star Sam Keith. </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/scowilliams/MPWF%20Dynasty/LuisMontero_zpsa3441c80.jpg</span><span>http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/scowilliams/MPWF%20Dynasty/ManuelPrieto_zps3ff0bf87.jpg?t=1391883292</span><span>http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g248/sanX1999/SOTBPW%20Dynasty/Greg%20Gauge_zpsliq3hm6d.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><strong>Best Of MPWF</strong></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:8px;">"Luis Montero, Manuel Prieto, Sam Keith(younger Version)"</span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> 1998 saw the debut of a third promotion, SOTBPW .When South of the Border Pro Wrestling was formed in the middle of the 1998, most fans were intrigued by the possibility of a third promotion competing with longtime rivals OLLIE and MPWF. While fans were understandably excited, lucha writers were concerned about the feasibility of competing with the "big two". While the first year was rough, the company eventually ended up on solid financial footing and lured several big name stars from OLLIE and MPWF (Mr. Lucha amongst them) to cement their status as a serious threat in lucha libre. </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1253.photobucket.com/albums/hh584/Tiberious4/MPWF/SOTBPW.jpg</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:8px;">"South Of The Border Pro-Wrestling" </span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> As the new millenium started, fan support in lucha began to wane as the three major companies horded top stars, pitting them in a series of increasingly repetitive match-ups. The heads of MPWF, OLLIE, and SOTBPW got together in a secret location (one still unknown to this day) to plot out a way to rejuvenate casual interest in lucha libre. Their solution was a bold strategy, one that would shake the very foundations of the country to the core. In September of 2005 it was announced that all contracts were null and void, and every single luchador would be available during "El Dia Nacional de Lucha (National Wrestling Day), the culmination of which would feature a draft between the three major companies. After the draft, all three companies signed non-aggression pact with each other as New Era of Mexican Wrestling Started.</div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div style="text-align:center;"><span>http://i1079.photobucket.com/albums/w506/scowilliams/MPWF%20Dynasty/ChampagneLover_zps7ed4a470.jpg?t=1391891257</span><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><span style="font-size:8px;">"Superstar Antonio Maxi Marzuez as Champagne Lover"</span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><p></p><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> Antonio Maxi Marquez was one of SOTBPW's top stars as Champagne Lover, but that's all he was: a popular luchador. But, Marquez's life and lucha libre would change forever when he was asked to do a guest appearance on Mexico's most popular soap opera, The Young & The Fearless. Lover's good looks and charisma made him extremely popular with the show's female fans. What was supposed to be one appearance soon became a recurring guest role on the show, one that propelled Marquez from lucha star to national celebrity. As Marquez's following exponentially grew, it was only natural that the fans of his television appearances would follow him to SOTBPW. With Jorge Ibanez's money at their disposal, SOTBPW quickly catapulted from a Regional company to a National one , becoming dominant force in lucha libre.</div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> </div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"><div style="margin-left:25px;"> After SOTBW’s ascend to stardom, They quickly ended the Non-Aggession Pact with both MPWF and OLLIE. Both MPWF and OLLIE failed to compete with the SOTBPW and faded to obscurity. After many of the Stars jumping ship to the SOTBPW in 2014, MPWF quickly folded at the end of the year. This Information is useful for any player who wants to play with any Mexican promotion. I have used information from The official clverse site as well as few well written dynasties on forums. Hope those guys don't mind. </div></blockquote>

Gaining pop in America as well as not losing a single national battle to USPW in mexico should be your top priority.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Product: </strong></p><p> </p><p>

A typical mainstream Lucha Libre Product. Pop is your king here, though, you need guys who are good enough to wrestle with Aerial skills and a little bit of Tech. skills. Lowering your daredevil to low will get rid of that pesky penalty. Match ratio is 80% for events as well as 70% for matches, which is good enough for you to get ratings.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Caution:</strong><em><span style="font-size:14px;">DO NOT FOOL yourself by how much AI scores with them.</span></em> For human player, getting ratings equal to or more than your pop is success in first few months.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Roster:</strong> At the start of the game, you have 53 wrestlers on your roster. Almost double than what you need. As they ended brand split as well the Luchador! competition( TOugh Enough version of CLverse.) Roster has many youngsters with far less skills. opening a devlopemental is necessary here. Another thing is, you are the boss in Mexico, so go on a hiring spree and stuff wrestlers in your devlopemental. Do not touch guys on the OLLIE roster, as they train as well as gain pop quicker by staying at OLLIE.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hirings</strong>: Monteros, El Mitico Jr, Mr.Lucha III, El Hijo de Memphisto directly to your Main Roster as well as few guys from OLLIE on PPA to train your undercard.</p><p> </p><p>

You can hire anybody from USPW as well as SWF who has little bit of tech. skill to pile on pressure in Mexican national battle.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Booking tips:</strong></p><p> </p><p>

Start planning future early. Most of ME are solid though almost 1/2 of your upper card can retire anytime and start with decline. EL Alborator Confiado, Multimillionairo El Heroe de Mexicano as well as Velocidad, Pirata Morgan, Xticntion should be given spotlight alongside devloping people mentioned above. Book them as such. Another thing to look at is, most of roster lacks entertainment aspects. Dr.rudo is the best young guy on mic but lacks wrestling ability, still he is a valuable member of roster as he can train others on entertainment skills and also poseses good SQ.</p><p> </p><p>

You can book your Main Events on TV as well events as you want to, though Lover should be part of each and every ME match you have on shows as well as events. Push El Leon! Axxis Jr is by far the best wrestler on your roster, Use him well. Pablo Rodriguez, El Demonio , Soul Taker are old and will be on decline. Use them put over and train other stars. Snap Dragon's stats are not good compared to these guys, though guy is Sammy Bach of SOTBPW with less pop and can put up a good match against anybody on roster. </p><p> </p><p>

Starting storylines are good enough to sustain you for first few months.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

Now Few tips for realism in the game when booking Lucha Libre:</p><p> </p><p>

Trios Match Tags</p><p>

when the legal wrestler of a team touches the floor outside the ring, a teammate may enter the ring to take his place as the legal competitor. As the legal wrestler can step to the floor willingly, there is essentially no need for an actual tag to a teammate to bring him into a match.</p><p> </p><p>

Normal Match Rules</p><p>

Matches can be won by pinning the opponent to the mat for the count of three, making him submit, knocking him out of the ring for a predetermined count (generally twenty) or by disqualification. Using the ropes for leverage is illegal, and once a luchador is on the ropes, his opponent must release any holds and he will not be able to pin him.</p><p> </p><p>

DQ</p><p>

Disqualifications occur when an opponent uses an illegal hold, move (such as the piledriver, which is an illegal move in lucha libre and grounds for immediate disqualification, though some variations are legal in certain promotions), or weapon, hits his opponent in the groin (faul), uses outside interference, attacks the referee, or rips his opponent's mask completely off.</p><p> </p><p>

2/3 Falls</p><p>

A very old lucha Traditon. Though nowadays, 2/3 falls are only used for very special maches and of course title matches.</p><p> </p><p>

A few terms</p><p> </p><p>

Castigo Excessivo </p><p>

These rules also provide for an unusual call named "castigo excesivo" or "excessive punishment." That is to say, the referee can disqualify a wrestler or team that is not trying to win the match (not attempting any pins or submissions,) but is instead just beating up or attempting to otherwise injure an opponent. While rare, the referee does have the ability to disqualify for excessive punishment under this system of rules</p><p> </p><p>

Captain Fall </p><p>

In trios matches, a pin fall or submission on the captain of a team will result in an instant finish to the match with the fall counting for two falls.</p><p> </p><p>

El Hijo</p><p>

Normaly used before names of famous wrestlers to indicate the next wrestler in the Legacy of given name.. It is used as the Son of. Example- ‘El Hijo de Zonk’ means ‘Son of Zonk’ . Jr is also used to carry forward the mask as Legacy in Mexico.</p><p> </p><p>

SOTBPW Gimmick Matches</p><p>

the most common 'gimmick' match in traditional lucha libre is the luchas de apuestas. These wager matches involve both workers placing a bet on the outcome. These can be in the following combinations;</p><p> </p><p>

• Máscara contra máscara ("mask versus mask")</p><p>

• Máscara contra cabellera ("mask versus hair")</p><p>

• Cabellera contra cabellera ("hair versus hair")</p><p>

• Máscara o cabellera contra campeonato ("mask or hair versus title")</p><p>

• Máscara o cabellera contra retiro ("mask or hair versus career")</p><p>

• Carrera contra carrera ("career versus career")</p><p> </p><p>

SOTBPW, the least traditional of the big three Mexican promotions, also use a number of gimmick matches more familiar to US audiences, such as hardcore, cage and steel cell matches.</p>

<p>its good to see others taking a look at South of the Border. Thing was, I tried to look information about mexico region for imersion before I started my game and there was none. So I did some research using 05/10 mods as well as looking through few world building dynasties. </p><p> </p><p>

Its one of the reasons why I decided to share this information so that others will also try and ones who want to won't get turned of because of lack of information. I was so invested in that game that I had planned to do a dynasty which sadly never took place.</p><p> </p><p>

its good to see that my failed project is helping others.</p>

Similarly, rename the MPWF initials so it's MPWF*.<p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Step #2</span>: Also using the editor, add that same asterisk to all the original MPWF titles. Name it Mexico Premier Wrestling Federation (without an asterisk) and set the initials as MPWF. Use the logo. Import the product settings from the old MPWF*. Be sure to base the company in Northern Mexico.</p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Step #5</span>: Click on Child Companies and set MPWF as a Development Territory for the time being. That way they won't hire anyone right away. </p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Step #6</span>: Click on Staff to hire your Owner and Booker. For continuity's sake, you might only want previous MPWF* employees in these positions. Typically, I set <strong>Domino</strong> as Owner and <strong>Slayyer</strong> as Booker, signing each to a long-term Exclusive PPA deal.</p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Step #7</span>: Sign your favorite MPWF* veterans to written contracts and send them down to the territory. Recommendations: <strong>Ángel De México, Atlantis Jr, Carlos Moreno, Cique Jr, El Hijo Del Fantasma, Hellspawn 666, Hijo Del Mephisto, Luchador Original, Sebastián Cabrera, Spanish Superfly</strong> and <strong>Teadoro Nieto.</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Step #8</span>: Send <strong>El Hijo Del Águila Americana</strong> down to MPWF -- he's the offspring of one of the original four MPWF* founders. (So are <strong>El Hijo Del Fantasma</strong> and <strong>Hijo Del Mephisto.</strong>) Also send <strong>El Rey.</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Step #9</span>: Create new titles for MPWF. Model them after the original MPWF* titles. </p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Step #10</span>: Set the champions for each of those titles, using the last champions for their corresponding MPWF* titles. You'll find you have everyone you need except for the Trios title, where <strong>Hijo Del Relámpago</strong> has since been signed away on a written contract. Even so, you have two of the three champions, along with their former partner from years back: <strong>Ángel De México, Atlantis Jr & Luchador Original.</strong></p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Step #11</span>: Set this traditional MPWF event for the first Tuesday in February: MPWF Danza Del Guerrero Del Fantasma.</p><p> </p><p> <span style="text-decoration:underline;">Step #12</span>: Set MPWF back to a Child Company, so Domino can make a TV deal with Canal Tres.</p><p> </p><p> That's how I go about it, anyway. I'll sometimes also set up a weekly event for MPWF based on their old TV show. Makes for a fun, active addition to C-Verse Mexico, and I justify it all as Jorge Ibanez looking to "give back" to the lucha scene after SOTBPW begins experiencing a backlash from lucha purists.</p>

<p>I cant think of any real motivations or goals to set for myself to actually commit to a SOTBPW game.</p><p> </p><p>

Unlike the big Nationals in Japan and USA, they are the only show in town, so you arent competing to be the best like a Big 3 or a Pride or Burning or even a WLW.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

My first stint in Mexican wrestling was to bring OLLIE back to national prominence and compete against SOTBW. I basically got them to National and became the best show delivering company in the world but stopped when I realized Id never win a National battle against SOTBW as long as Champagne Lover and El Fuerza existed. There simply isnt enough workers in the database at 95+ SQ that you can even brute force 100 overness to beat them out... </p><p> </p><p>

When it became clear that I would eventually overtake SOTBW by sheer attrition, ie 2-3 years of simming at a similar rate, becoming the most popular company in the world by far and either stealing Lover or waiting until decline robs them of SQ or retires them, I just retired the game without doing that boring work.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

That being said, the AI will never challenge you that way, so the only real goal is to become number 1 international or global, but with Champagne Lover alone its so easy to do its barely worth...</p>

SOTBPW doesn't have a Women's Division, so you don't have to worry about female talent getting poached by them. (Now, most of the Mexican female talent in Mexico can also work in the U.S., so USPW MIGHT try and snag them, though they'll probably go for AAA and QAW talent first.)</p><p> </p><p> Second, while both rosters have older vets who'll take youngsters under their wings as proteges, it seems to happen quicker and with more frequency in OLLIE than in SOTBPW. For instance, I'll have El Mitico Junior on the roster for a week before someone like Slayyer, Phoenix III, or El Critico takes a shine to him.</p><p> </p><p> Third, while both companies can get U.S. exposure right out of the gate, SOTBPW has larger exposure, and thus the talent that can work in the U.S. is more likely to get snagged by another national company.</p>

<p>Bumping this because I've booked through the first month of a SOTBPW save.</p><p> </p><p>

I'm not very good. <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p>

I feel like I've landed a good roll on rookies with a full NBT and Hot Prospect list. I'm getting chemistry notes all the time too. The storylines all have good heat and Lover is clique building as well as taken on two proteges. Amazingly only three workers were on decline for that first month. Now four but still not complaining. Let's face it, it's a good place when Lover is pulling in scores of over 95 for angles and 80 for matches</p><p> </p><p>

Backstage is a happy place and I've had good shows, consistently boosting pop and peaked with a 90 on the go home show before Guerra de Titanes. I really hit my stride in the build to that with 86/89/84 shows before that.</p><p> </p><p>

That was a show which I booked in advance with all my matches on the main show set in advance. I got a 87 for that event and was a little gutted to only get 82 from Lover vs Taker as the main event. Axxis got 89 vs Alborotador in the semi main. El Fuerza is the opposite of Lover. A bit like Skull DeBones, his matches arent worth the wait for PPV, i had to overbook that match (against the crowd) to get a decent grade!</p><p> </p><p>

I've had to improvise on the El Demonio/Pablo Rodriguez storyline because one of the Sea Monsters broke Blood Raven's neck. Out for a year. I've added a couple of prospects to that feud to help Pirata.</p><p> </p><p>

I've also just opened a developmental in South West US. Trying to avoid stacking with Mexican talent and want to focus on those who can work in Mexico.</p><p> </p><p>

Some questions:</p><p> </p><p>

For a pop>perf product, I know the key is entertainment, I get that but I'm really reluctant to rely on Lover, I guess I have to abuse while I have him? Am I right in saying that videos and interviews are the best way to boost pop? Specifically outside of Mexico. I've gone up a point in the States but daren't run a show outside of Mexico right now. Should I focus on Northern Mexico to get optimum spillover? I'm looking to get consistent grades and hit blue numbers rather than green. </p><p> </p><p>

What do I need to do to increase US and Canadian pop?</p><p> </p><p>

Should I implement a brand split? Sooner rather than later? And would a B show be useful?</p><p> </p><p>

Do I get the belt off Lover or keep him as champ until he leaves for a film or something?</p>

For entertainment, you have quite a few options aside from Lover. At main event, your best other choices are Soul Taker, Rodriguez, El Leon, Multimillionario, El Fuerza, Axxis Jr, and Pirata Malvado. At midcard, Mexican Beast, Velocidad, Genio Verde, Heavy Metal Anarchy, Mystery Man, and Dr. Rudo all perform well, in my experience.

A lot of what I've found with SOTBPW are TEW related. Roster size, you start with a huge group. Two TV shows, no brand split. Not a bad thing because Lover is key. They're both A shows. You can't change anything or build relationships if you are not the owner. That's quite un-Mexican given AAA & CMLL have strong ties with American & Japanese companies.</p><p> </p><p> I'm going to continue trying to build pop through this first year. It's a slog with the way I play. Great company though, fine group of talent and playing as them you can see why they often become huge.</p>

Was thinking about SOTBPW as my next C-Verse save, when I'm done with TCW, but I really hate all those promotions not having event logos <img alt=":(" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/frown.png.e6b571745a30fe6a6f2e918994141a47.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
