lightofkolob
I've had tons of matches with all bonuses and no penalties but I cant seem to get an A* rating. I think it may because I have a custom product. I don't know how to make repairs to where I can get A*
Adam Ryland
Moved to the correct forum. No, it is not impossible - there's many shown in the screen shots thread from various users. Many would argue that it's too common. Having "all bonuses and no penalties" is a good start, but it's not as important as you seem to believe. Bonuses and penalties only affect the original rating, so if that's much lower than the A* grade and you're only getting small bonuses then they're not going to help you that much. Nor is the point of the game to avoid all penalties. Getting an A* would simply depend on having the right workers for the right company. If you're a heavily popularity-based company then you need very popular workers. If you're a workrate-based company then you need high level in-ring talent. There's no real "trick" to an A* other than putting the right talent in the right conditions with the right set up. If you're not able to get it, you may well just not have good enough talent yet. drcat123
I suggest you switch to numbers. So you know exactly what is going on. The chances of you getting 100 without a storyline is almost impossible. There usually needs to be chemistry in the match. If you are performance based product it is easier to get 100 over pop based product. Since all you need is great wrestlers. You could have 2 100 pop in the whole world in a pop base product and still get a bad match rating. I only found a few times in my tew history. There is just 2 workers who will knock it out of park every time. You also need to look at your user preferences and gimmicks. There is alot of factors that will get you a 100. If you are running a clean finish product. I highly suggest victor, open match (always gives a better rating), and pinfall or submisson finish. Nothing else at all. It may be boring but that is your fan base.

When I was talking about the 2 workers. I'm talking about they will always get blue together. Chemisty or not. I found it with ole anderson and kenny king in a mod. I found it alot with japanese women in mods. Naturals vs bravados in a mod. These are just some examples.

I just had this event right now but I just can't strike gold. Even The Young Bucks vs Forces of Nature had 3 workers with 100 in-ring performance, 1 worker with 99, both teams have great chemistry, nothing negative in the dirt sheet.

Mine is a perf > pop fed, so the storylines aren't an issue.
FlameSnoopy
Storylines and chemistry are not needed to have a 100 match, unlike what drcat123 said.

If you guys can pull out 99 matches, it's only a matter of time before you get that big 100. You need to remember there's always a randomness involved with everything in TEW: even with the best chemistry, in-ring performance, no negatives etc. you can still get "screwed over" by the randomness factor. For every 100 (a wrestler achieves), they usually have at least five 99s. It's so much easier to get a 99 than a 100. If you can already pull out 99s, my advice would be to keep doing what you're doing, it's obviously working. You might have just been unlucky.

Adam Ryland
As the OP has since sent me a futher PM on the subject, here is a recap of some key points: 1 - Products cannot "cap" match ratings to a certain level. It doesn't matter how wacky or unusual the product, an A* \ 100 match is always possible with the right workers and the right booking. 2 - Being able to get a 99 rated match means you are probably able to get 100, because 1 point is well within the amount of randomness that is applied to each match. However, it is an urban myth that if you can get a 99 then you can definitely get 100; certain elements must be in place for a 100 to be achieved, such as a "star" wrestler to peak the fans' interest. If you are continually unable to get past 99 then you are probably experiencing this. To be specific to the OP's situation (where he was getting 100s before changing his product), I will again underline that the product has nothing to do with this; the elements that need to be in place are entirely to do with the workers. 3 - Storylines and chemistry help get better ratings but they are certainly not necessary \ essential. You can get A* \ 100 rated matches without them, in some cases fairly easily. 4 - You do not need to avoid penalties. It is perfectly possible to get an A* \ 100 match with penalties, even multiple penalties. 5 - You do not need certain road agent notes to be present. You can get A* \ 100 without adding any at all. Good booking obviously helps though. 6 - No 100 match is guaranteed because there is an element of randomness inherent to it. You could easily re-run the exact same match four or five times and only get a 100 once. Again, A* matches are meant to be rare. So, again, if someone is getting 100 rated matches prior to a product change and struggling after, this definitely is not because their product has made it impossible. The more likely explanations are that the user has changed the popularity \ workrate balance and his or her workers are simply no longer good enough to quite reach a full 100, bad luck with the randomness, or he or she only has a specific one or two workers who have the necessary skills to get to 100 but who are now no longer able to perform well enough to achieve it because of the aforementioned balance change. Blackman
Thanks for clarifying that, Adam, but the issue is this information never gets stickied so we'll be having this conversation again over the course of the following months. You did great adding some to the question marks in-game, but maybe there should be more. It would be great if expert players made some sort of FAQ containing this sort of information. It's nice to discover things on your own, but this leads to convictions about gameplay elements that are wrong and are subsequently shared through this forum.

The search function of this forum works somehow, but you need to fish for the correct terms to input, and then you still will get fragmented posts or a wealth of (wrong?) information.

I have found over years alot of topics have been archived deep in the forums. I guess there hidden somewhere. Since if you google for things. You will get the answers. I find tew 2010 has alot of information hidden away. Since the core is still the same. Alot of the information is still current to tew 2016. I don't recommend going back to far. Since the game has changed alot over the years.

I understand what adam said but it was technical talk too. If you change your product after you have set your roster. You will need to adjust your roster with the product. I learned this over my 20+ products. There is even sometimes when my current roster actually is better suited for the new product. Just for examples I have flyer/ mat product which brawlers are terrible. If I change to my only brawlers product. The flyer/mat people are terrible. So you need to find the best people for your product, best booking, best gimmicks, best angles, etc. Which is the fun of tew and why we play it.

lightofkolob
Here is my issue. I had A* matches before changing the product. After that it became impossible. To try and fix it i maxed out popularity and stats of several wrestlers with good chemistry against each other in an attempt to generate an A* match. With the most popular wrestlers, in the most popular federation with maxed out superstars I can't get an a* I run 2 A shows a B show and a monthly Event. In 2 years no a*. My games basically turned into a sandbox experience. Storylines have been used. It matters because I can never get match of year or wrestler of the year without A* ability. Thats not a single one in 936 booked matches. 0/936 goes a bit beyond the term randomness. I've played for a while and never had the issue before and never had the issue before a product change. So with more background if anyone has an idea i'd appreciate it.

If you have a question there is no simple place to find the clear and correct answer. It is a religion at this point. So many ways to do everything. I think they called them instruction books in the before time lol. Also the forum archiving old topics with (some of) these questions answered does not help.
