lois lily
Looking at it wouldn't it make sense to just produce loads of stuff for everyone? OR am I just finding an easy way out here? I'm guessing that might cost a fortune.
thadian
It's easiest to just set the bar for everyone and forget about it. What's best, is to go through the micro managing process of checking who on your roster is selling, popular and over - and push the limits on what they sell. You can make a fortune doing that, especially cutting all the waste of all those not selling it.

Not everyone wants the micro, but it's rewarding if you want to pile some money.

I remember on my lengthy TEW '10 save (my first TEW game ever actually) after playing 10 years as ROF, feeling like a big shot getting to a half mil in the bank and then getting job as head booker of SWF and suddenly having $50mill in the coffers. My head was spinning (worst part was because SWF were at cult I couldn't even flex that financial muscle and go on a spending spree!)

To actually the answer the question in the OP though yeah I pretty much always use custom merch.
Beejus
Does it do a lot for saving money to only sell things with your main event people? Especially if you are at cult level?
Gtact420
I believe there was a thread which experimented merchandise sales. Not sure whether it was TEW13 or 16. You guys might want to have a look at that. One of the things noticed in that experiment was that it's not just about the push, but also their disposition. thadian
You lose money by making merch, and by selling that merch, you make that money back and profit on top. So, you want to find out who on your roster is selling merch, usually your most popular and over people (therefore not necessarily all upper/mains, and maybe yes for a few mid carders on the rise).

Once you know who is selling, you want to produce the most merch on those people. Everyone who at least sells enough to pay for their own cost is worth selling for. However there might be a lot of people on your roster who aren't selling - or are selling low for the push/popularity/momentum they have.

WWE in the real world, uses merch sales to help guide who to push to what level, and determine how much interest over time it thinks fans have in any given star. They also monitor changes over time when they think about pushes and feuds. They also think about what they can do to better monetize each superstar's merch line. So someone like Fandango doesn't have as many merch options as someone like Cena or Undertaker. I would give Taker and Cena the best quality and I might give Fandango mid quality. Lastly, they look at merch sales as an indicator of whether or not they need to turn someone or change gimmicks or alter egos or something.

So, like WWE in the real world - I look to my merch sales as a better indicator than overness. I also look at my in-game suggestions of who the AI thinks my top wrestlers are and best potentials are. I don't take the AI advice 100%, but I usually consider it when I plan my direction.

If I have a big stable, or big feud, those people will be the "merch focus" and of course the figurehead is the top merch focus, producing top quality and for amount, just above what can be expected to sell. From there, everyone else will have medium quality and just in time. After each PPV, I look to determine how to shift things around. So it doesn't take up that much time as you might think once you get it started.
