RealWorld - Weekly Updated Database

Recommended Posts

Hello.

RealWorld is an attempt to run a database with modern bouts updated every week, with updated and properly analyzed statistics on each of the fighters. My method is the following; when there is a major bout announced (bellator, invicta, ufc, etc), I will schedule myself to review and revisit each of the fighters on the bout and update their history and their stats based on their last fights. I use FightPass. I'm trying to make sure that each fighter's deficiency as well as proficiency is depicted realistically.

Release notes can be found in the file. Make sure to comment to support this mod. Feedback is always appreciated.

Boguslaw Zawirowsk's picture file causes the game to crash if you click on his profile. You also still have Conor at 145

I would suggest getting rid of the exclusive contracts the small promotions have on their fighters. It's unrealistic.

Other than that the game plays great. The fighter detail updates are definitely noticeable

thx for the mod! I'll give it a try later today and post my impressions <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

edit: alright, quickly looked through the database, especially the UFC. I don't want to sound like a dick but there's still LOTS of work to be done in pretty much every area to get this up to date. Good luck, I hope you have the motivation to do this!

looking forward to seeing how this develops <img alt=":)" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/smile.png.142cfa0a1cd2925c0463c1d00f499df2.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Hi guys, I'm a long time silent lurker, who wanted to share something with you.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/4t2161ypv3y1774/MW_Edited.rar

Since the Modern Warriors mod is obviously just a port from the WMMA3 mod, the WMMA4 mod had a lot of issues, especially regarding the balance of the game (small promotions going bankrupt fast, Bellator, RIZIN and WSOF becoming International sized promotions really fast).

So I edited the following things:

- gave the companies more money, so the smaller companies don't bankrupt that fast

- lowered the popularity for A LOT of fighters, so it isn't that easy anymore for the smaller companies to put out shows with 80%+ commercial rating. Also, there aren't many fighers now with International popularity (Diaz Brothers, McGregor, Lesnar and some other). The base for the fighters popularity are (roughly) the PPV sales, when they are headliner or if they headline events at all.

- Added a lot of pictures to the "free pictures" set. I mostly used retired fighters with body pics, so if you add fighters via the editor or with a reality TV show, you don't have that much duplicates

- edited the nicknames, so male fighters don't end up with names like "Princess"

- downscaled the size of the PPV carriers

- scaled the needed popularity for the TV stations according to their size (for example enourmous -> High Level International, massive -> Mid Level International and so on)

- reduced the number of possible TV shows per TV station and PPV carrier, so the companies have to compete for the slots, especially for slots at large TV stations and carriers

- updated the Hall of Fame. Currently, only the UFC Hall of Famers and some really important fighters (Ken Shamrock, Frank Shamrock, Masakatsu Funaki for example) are part of it. Everybody else is measured by the rules of the game itself, which means: how many titles did the fighter held? How many big matchup did he won? And so on. So fighters like Vitor Belfort or Shogun Rua can become Hall of Famers, but it's not guaranteed. (fighters like Fedor, GSP or Anderson Silva are guaranteed though, because they achieved so much)

- I updated the martial arts background of some fighers. There were a lot of people, who have BJJ belts, who weren't "Jiu-Jitsu Students" for example. Some were also flat out wrong

- Also edited the regions. The lucrativity of the region should be rated by their economic power. (the tooltip of the game itself says this). That means, no region in the USA should be at African or Asian leven (besides Japan), since even the poorest region in the USA is rich in comparison to the rest of the world. I also lowered the lucrativity for Nevada and New York, because otherwise the UFC holds his events only in Nevada and New York and nowhere else. I hope, this is better now, I couldn't test it yet

You guys can give me feedback, if you also think, that the game is better balanced than before with my edits. Also, if you find any errors, don't hesitate to tell me.

EDIT:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/lcv2aeabtby1c6g/WMMA4.mdb

There was a minor error in the database. Here is the correct database file

Admittedly, there is going to be a potential revamp on minor promotions. My plan is to trim a bit the list of promotions I have to keep a track of and update new fighters based on the backstory of a fighter. For example, Marloes Coenen fought for the Womens Featherweight Title at Bellator. What I usually do is hit her record, watch most of her fights, and if one of the fighters is not in, I would add her (if they're still fighting). That's how I would add minor characters. I would definitely try to keep at least some regional division per nation.

3- Thank-you!

thx for the mod!
This sounds really good

I have tried playing the MW mod a few months ago and it was a bit outdated ie. BJ Penn was still way better than Yair Rodriguez and a lot of the fighters who have improved/declined a load over the last couple of years hadn't been updated.

This sounds like a load of work but hope you stick at this because it has potential to be great once everyone is updated.

I am not very sure. I recall that sort of simulation and it was weird. That said, with this new update I'm trying to be much more emphatic on my release notes to detail what has been updated and why.

So far I'm satisfied with the way the database is going on. I'm trying to clear up a bit of dead companies, leaving the events on but removing them because I need a reliable way to keep track of the companies I -can- keep a track of. The problem with MW is that it has so many divisions. My goal here is to keep detailed track on the top fighters of most major divisions and some of the regionals (though the regional statistics will not be as detailed as my analysis of UFC main events & prelims). All fight pass bouts, for example Cage Warriors this weekend, will receive in-depth analysis too.

The next updated version coming out either today or tomorrow (or in the worst case scenario the Tuesday if I don't get to Cage Warriors today / tomorrow) should show some of those improvements.

I've just ran some simulations. Yair was updated. B.J. was not entirely updated. I will work on this for the next update. Thank you. Please keep the reports going of -anything- weird going on in the database. I promise it will be worked upon.

However, the Cage Warriors fights aired on Fight Pass were only the main card. What I usually have been doing so far is to basically fight pass search the whole card, then run a cursory youtube search. If I can find content, cool. Otherwise, the fighter won't get added because I don't have enough.

If there's a request for specific fighters you guys want added or updated, please feel free to post them here. I'm going to be adding them on a weekly basis. So far the attention the mod is getting definitely motivates me to keep up the high pace. I'm a fan and a practitioner of the arts anyways, so this is part of my hobby.

I try to keep up with debuts of high-profile new MMA fighters too. This is the only situation I can think of where my analysis of their combat abilities is entirely based on fantasy rather than a paused analysis of their fights. Prime example right now, Greg Hardy was added to the mod. His stats are not remarkable, but in my second game he was booked, I can't recall by whom. I believe he went 0-2. His stats are based on what I believe he has: low ground game, good strength, low striking ability. American Top Team training camp.

If you guys don't like these fantasy projections, I can stop them though. I just thought it would be interesting to include Greg Hardy as this is, ultimately, a booking simulation and this is a guy who does have a name for certain promotions.

Just downloaded your latest version to have a look at the rankings to see which fighters I think need adjustments, just looked at heavyweights so far:

Shane Carwin - Rizin FF - 3rd ranked world heavyweight and 13th on Pound for Pound - needs a massive downgrade.

Francis Ngannou's name value is too low, would like to see him higher in the rankings. His skills look reasonable, but would say he's a pretty big draw now so should have a higher rep. Derrick Lewis could also do with a boost in popularity.

Brock Lesnar is retired.

Vitaly Minakov isn't fighting for Bellator anymore.

Jared Rosholt needs a downgrade.

Will look into your mentions and update them accordingly. The next update will see Shane Carwin lower in the rankings, Francis' name value raised, and Lewis... I thought I had updated him. I'll work on those for the update which will come in tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Thank-you!

That said, I am looking for contributors. Logically, I cannot keep up with everything that is going in the world on a consistent basis despite however good my planning can be. I know my limits and I know that sometimes I will have to overlook leagues. I have a plan to walk around this: every time there is a fight in one of the promotions I have, I am hoping to also work on the background of the main event fighters.

But if you want to take possession of a single league, or maybe a couple of leagues, or even cover a country, contributors could be fun. If we get enough contributors, I might even set-up a forum & a website. My vision is to keep a mod that is updated up to date, which is fun to both play and use as a visualization tool. One of my favorite things is to save my database and run a test game with the latest statistics and see how people match up. Sometimes I forget that in my analysis I saw the great leg kicks of a fighter and I'm like "oh, right."

so I looked at the database Muscle Wizard posted on the first site of this thread. I have to say I really like it as a starting point because he already did a lot of good work there. I'd suggest using this one to start with (if he's okay with it).

When it comes to stats I can only really help with UFC because aside of the UFC I only watch the really big fights of other orgs.

One thing I could do though is to update the picture pack if nobody else is working on it.

btw: I'd suggest to get the rosters up to date (at least the one of the big companies) in terms of fighters that are actually under contract, retired, suspended etc. because that alone will make the mod so much better.

That was my intention. The database I posted still has a lot of issues, since there are thousands of fighters and there is always the odd fighter that slips the editing (for example I gave Fabio Maldonado by accident a name value of International 5 instead of National 5).

@deskoft

you can use my database in any way you want.
