The Dynamite Sid
With a nod to Tomato Can's thread What rules do you implement on yourself each game that you do stick to (at least usually) A huge one for me is to never have a developmental territory at an historically illogical point. Having Stone Cold Steve Austin in developmental in 1989 not only breaks the immersion for me it feels kinda like cheating. Using meta knowledge to snatch up young talent before they can develop organically just feels like circumventing the scouting systems. It also takes the fun out of seeing what happens to guys whose careers may otherwise have panned out totally differently
LordofGustav
I usually never put up a gimmick before certain era.

For example i never give Glenn Jacobs the Kane gimmick during the early 90's era. I should rather give him that gimmick at least two years before it's inception.

I also go loyal to the product when it comes to gimmicks or give him a different one. For example, i never give Matt Bourne the Doink gimmick in a promotion like AWA or WCWA. However, there are exceptions, like giving Mark Calaway the Undertaker gimmick in the AWA or NWA.

When it comes to Mexican wrestlers, i never change them the name, unless it's necessary.

I also make sure that there's chemistry between certain tag teams and certain wrestlers and their managers. Just like I give the doink gimmick to pretty much any of them I can sign to my federation. Usually dusty wolf then ray lichellelo (how ever you say his name) he was the doink that dink.

The one thing I always break is when I make it to international level. I don't think there is nothing left to do anymore. I'm just booking at that point. Money is easy. You got to have stars. You have to have blue ratings on shows. So if someone can tell me what is the fun at that level then maybe I will stay there for once
marsupial311
It's not an official rule, but I cringe when the backstage environment is under 100% so I always make it goal to get it there as quickly as possible and tend to punish bad influences very strictly to the point that they always hate me. Plus I always suspend any one caught with hard drugs and steroids. Dunno why, but I'm more lean towards soft drugs, I usually just fine them. It is better than seeing in a match too. Since no people get annoyed by them being on drugs. It does not hurt the match rating either.
The Dynamite Sid
I love the cut and thrust of a backstage mishap or two. Wouldn't dream of not having a few bad apples in the cart. I still remember fondly bringing Burning EXILE in for an ROF show some years ago only for him to get into a fight with some fans outside and never be brought back again. pantaloons
Here are some rules I have for myself in my SWF game.

Only 1 A show, it can't be longer than 2 hours. No more than 2 B shows, equaling 2 hours in length total.

I am also trying to play the game in a way makes sense for SWF. I won't sign all the best indy workers, and I will push workers with star quality and charisma even if they don't have great in ring skills.

I won't sign all the best indy workers, and I will push workers with star quality and charisma even if they don't have great in ring skills. This is one of the rules I always struggle with but I have vowed to adhere to in my current SWF save. I may wind up signing some talented indy guys but they will have to do a lot of work to prove to myself and mr Eisen they can be anything more than "good hands"

MinimiMax
I don't know if I'd call these rules really but here's a few things that I tend to keep the same:

I do not tolerate drug use (except soft drugs). Not that I'll fire your ass as soon as you get caught, but if a couple of rehabs aren't enough to get you straight then you're out. Even if you're the mighty Brock Lesnar.

I want to give people a chance. I don't start burying anyone, ever. Even the most jobbery of jobbers will get their moment eventually. Maybe not in the way of beating John Cena or winning a championship, but they'll get an important feud at the very least.

I want to give workers freedom so whenever I feel comfortable doing so, I give them promo freedom. This happens a lot more often than having them call matches in the ring but that happens sometimes too.

I like to be a bit of a dick and punish bad behavior on screen. If you for example show up to work drunk, maybe you'll get a gimmick where you're an alcoholic.

HighDefOverDose
If I borrow a guy from developmental to job out to someone, I wait at least 12 weeks to debut them on the main roster, it's based on what happened to Big Boss Man when he debuted as Jim Cornettes bodyguard back in '87, he was a jobber, but then Dusty took him off TV for 12 weeks and repackaged him as Big Bubba Rogers. Heard Cornette talking about it on a podcast, or shoot interview.

Also I always turn off drug testing and lifestyle effects, but I turn up injuries to extreme, having played a few saves, it turns out a lot of guys I like are druggies, and I can't be bothered waiting months at a time for them to do rehab, but like I said I turn injuries up to extreme to make up for it.
