This is the story of Jim Crockett Promotions...

Author's Notes

The Data: I'm using Genadi and The Mod Squad's The Golden Age data set, playing as JCP. Jim Crockett will be my user character--but I don't expect that to impact the diary in any significant way. In the interest of full disclosure, I have modified the data slightly. I have increased starting pop for JCP in several regions of the US as I felt the data was a bit unfair the NWA's starting popularity in 1987. By that time JCP had been running hot on TBS nationwide for over 3 years. I also took WCW out of the data as I didn't want to have to compete with a weird version of my own promotion.

I have made a few other minor adjustments as well, chiefly giving Dusty loyalty to JCP. It's been my experience that it's only Dusty's booker position that prevents the WWF from signing him away. Just because I'm playing as Crockett, I feel I shouldn't be cheated out of Dusty as a character.

That said, big thanks to Genadi and the Mod Squad for all their work in creating this data!

What to Expect: I do plan to keep this diary as authentic to the time period as possible while simultaneously departing from history. Basically don't expect to see a lot of non-traditional gimmick matches or an over-signing a lot of future superstar guys early on (ex: Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, etc.) as, to me, they don't fit the time period. Some of those guys may trickle in if the diary lives long enough...we shall see.

Also, I have burned out on past diaries by over-writing my weekly TV shows. I am going to scale them down for this diary and see if that helps extend the life of this project.

Prediction Contests: I'd like to have a prediction contest. Once the details are ironed out, I will post the rules and prizes.

My Experience: I have written a handful of diaries in the past, including one NWA 1987 diary for TEW 13. I have some different ideas that my TEW '13 iteration of this project, so it should flow a lot differently.

Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to check this out and hopefully it's an enjoyable read. Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts on the happenings in the diary as well as layout. Constructive criticism is appreciated as much as (if not more than) compliments!

-The Crockett group is planning a "major network event" to run head to head with Wrestlemania III in a few weeks. Awesome to see you back, and in 87 again, Crossface! It's a good idea to trim back the fat on TV reports, you don't want to get burned out and that can be one of the easiest and quickest ways to do so. I look forward to what you have in store.

Barry Windham

Lex Luger

I liked the write-up, it was paced nicely and a breeze to read through.

Ron Simmons

Ivan Koloff - Ivan costing Nikita the title was a big shock, I look for him to pick up some wins here and there to stay relevant until the big Koloff vs. Koloff matchup.

Bubba Rogers

Sullivan & Barbarian - This is a neat team, but I would dig seeing you bring together the Powers of Pain too.

Midnight Express - Next US Tag champs right here! The MX are forever!

Jimmy Valiant

Tully Blanchard

Contender: Barry Windham

Barry and Flair would make an awesome first Clash main event!
