<p>I'd suggest buying Grand Prix. My only real quibble with this data is the networks in Canada and Japan make it incredibly difficult to get on there with JCP/WCW. It's missing a lot of smaller networks that are in the awesome 1991 mod, but they're mostly un-importable to an existing game since they're tied to broadcast groups that aren't in the 87 mod. Bottom line is that it is a pretty inexpensive way to gain 20 or so pop in the far Eastern part of Canada (since spillover is really far away for you there). Not any great talent there though so it would simply be buying pop. If you feel you have enough in the bank, go for it.</p><p> </p><p>

And the sadist in me says to keep testing Manny until he fails one and then send him off to rehab. That would let you run the Jimmy Garvin vs Barry Windham feud. A "pretty boy" vs "southern redneck or cowboy" feud would be interesting, albeit reversed roles in terms of face/heel. Might throw in the "Valet might want a "real man" not a pretty boy" story too.</p><p> </p><p>

Oh and either WWA or CCW would make excellent development feds for you on the cheap. That's what I almost always use WWA for in 80's games as they always go broke.</p>

Missy transitioned to a clip of the end of the Fijian Strap match from the Eddie Graham Memorial where Tully returned to cost Snuka the match and the title. Flair, Blanchard and Dillon all laughed at Snuka. Missy questioned the duo of Blanchard and Anderson about their tag match later tonight against Snuka and Ole and Arn laughed that bout off as well, pointing to the 30 minute draw they just had as evidence that Ole couldn’t be beat him. They also told him he’d never walk again, but he walked onto this set tonight. His said his career would be over when he said it was over and received a tremendous ovation. Magnum thanked all the fans for the support following his accident and had received more letters, prayers, and well wishes than he could even explain, and it meant everything to him.</p><p> </p><p> Next, Magnum told Tony there was one man he needed to settle things with while he was here. Magnum noted that joining Dusty cost Koloff nearly everything, and he loved him for making that sacrifice. </p><p> </p><p> Magnum then revealed that he had watched Koloff challenge Ric Flair for the World’s title at Starrcade from his hospital bed. He said he never doubted that Koloff would defeat Flair after knowing first hand what he endured against Koloff in last year’s Great American Bash famous best-of-7 series. When that Starrcade match ended in a disqualification, Magnum was sick to his stomach. </p><p> </p><p> Magnum ended, staring at Koloff with a deep intensity, by saying that it has been one year since that epic best-of-7 series that they shared. Dusty Rhodes was alone in the ring thanking the fans and paying tribute to the patriarch of Florida wrestling, when the 7 foot assailant who attacked Rhodes a few weeks ago, burst threw the crowd, hopped the barricade and nearly decapitated Rhodes with a giant foot to the face. Rhodes, taken totally unaware, seemed knocked out. The giant man with the pale complexion, stared down coldly at the fallen Rhodes before fleeing once again through the crowd.</p><p> </p><p> As the fan footage ended, a new homemade recording opened on a posh home-office. A large, dark red leather office chair was turned, it's back to the camera, obscuring the man sitting in it. Dusty’s large assailant loomed largely standing in the background arms across his chest. The person in the chair spoke, warning Rhodes that he should have expected this most recent attack in Florida. After all, Florida is where it all started. He encouraged Rhodes to think about that, think long and hard about his time in Florida. It was over 12 years ago in Tampa where Dusty Rhodes first dug the grave that he was about to lie in.</p><p> </p><p> The video ended and David Crockett simply uttered “chilling.”</p><p> </p><p> <strong>Grade: (B)</strong></p></div></blockquote><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43677" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>Ole Anderson & Jimmy Snuka vs. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard w/ JJ Dillon</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> With that, it was main event time. <p><strong>Announcement: The Great American Bash Tour: 1987 Prediction Game</strong></p><p> </p><p> Alright folks, it's that time! The NWA is hitting the road for a grueling 4 weeks worth of shows. Will I be able to stay afloat or will I outspend my budget? Only one way to find out...</p><p> </p><p> So, here's the deal. I'll be posting 3 shows at a time (1 in-game week's worth). I expect there to be a total of 12 shows on the tour (3 per week for 4 weeks). Some shows might be a little bigger than others, but all will be 3 hours and will feature a handful (or more) marquee matchups, title bouts, and stipulations matches. In the interest of full disclosure, I have disabled the "repetitive booking penalty" for the duration of this tour.</p><p> </p><p> You can expect title changes to occur, feuds to be settled and new feuds to begin. I also expect at least a handful of injuries, so this should be an interesting test of roster depth as well. </p><p> </p><p> None of these events will be televised, so they won't have detailed writeups. That said, I may decide to hold a PPV or TBS event to "blow off" the tour as I stated in an earlier Observer post. I haven't committed to that decision and it will be made based on how my finances are holding up without televising all these events. </p><p> </p><p> For the prediction contest, episodes of World Championship Wrestling will <strong>not</strong> be included. Strictly GAB shows and the accompanying bonus questions will count towards this game's score. </p><p> </p><p> At the moment, I am thinking that the winner of this prediction game will choose the main event of Starrcade 1987. </p><p> </p><p> That said, the first GAB Prediction game cards:</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><a href="http://s288.photobucket.com/user/tew0720/media/NWA%201987/GAB87/NWA%20Bash_zps3p1petva.jpg.html" rel="external nofollow"><span>http://i288.photobucket.com/albums/ll163/tew0720/NWA%201987/GAB87/NWA%20Bash_zps3p1petva.jpg</span></a></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> </p><blockquote data-ipsquote="" class="ipsQuote" data-ipsquote-contentapp="forums" data-ipsquote-contenttype="forums" data-ipsquote-contentid="43677" data-ipsquote-contentclass="forums_Topic"><div><strong>The Great American Bash Tour: Week 1</strong><p><strong> *Faces always listed first</strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>The Great American Bash Tour Night 1</strong></p><p><strong> Sunday Week 3 June 1987 </strong></p><p><strong> Venue: Idaho Center Amphitheater (ID)</strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>NWA World Heavyweight Championship:</strong> Ricky Morton vs. “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair ©</p><p> <strong>NWA United States Heavyweight Championship:</strong> Kendall Windham vs. Dick Murdoch ©</p><p> <strong>NWA United States Tag Team Championship:</strong> The Road Warriors w/ Paul Ellering vs. The Midnight Express © w/ Jim Cornette</p><p> <strong>Russian Chain Match:</strong> Nikita Koloff vs. Vladimir Petrov w/ Ivan Koloff</p><p> The MOD Squad vs. Manny Fernandez & Brian Adams w/ Paul Jones</p><p> Mike Graham, Mike Rotundo, & Jimmy Garvin w/ Precious vs. Barry Windham, Ron Simmons & Big Bubba Rogers</p><p> Hector Guerrero vs. Lex Luger w/ JJ Dillon</p><p> The Fantastics, Wahoo McDaniel & Shane Douglas vs. The Grapplers & The Sheepherders</p><p> Brad Armstrong vs. Tully Blanchard w/ JJ Dillon</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>The Great American Bash Tour Night 2</strong></p><p><strong> Tuesday Week 4 June 1987 </strong></p><p><strong> Venue: The Cow Palace (CA)</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> Ole Anderson, Jimmy Snuka, & The Super Powers vs. The Four Horsemen w/ JJ Dillon</p><p> George Wells vs. The Warlord</p><p> <strong>NWA United States Tag Team Championship:</strong> Hector Guerrero & ??? vs. The Midnight Express © w/ Jim Cornette</p><p> Biff Wellington vs. Big Bubba Rogers w/ Jim Cornette</p><p> “The Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant vs. The Barbarian w/ Kevin Sullivan</p><p> Brad Armstrong vs. Barry Windham</p><p> <strong>NWA World Tag Team Championship:</strong> The Rock n’ Roll Express © vs. The Sheepherders</p><p> Shane Douglas vs. Vladimir Petrov w/ Ivan Koloff</p><p> Wahoo McDaniel vs. Tommy Angel</p><p> Mike Rotundo & The Fantastics vs. Dick Murdoch & The Grapplers</p><p> </p><p> </p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong>The Great American Bash Tour Night 3</strong></p><p><strong> Thursday Week 4 June 1987 </strong></p><p><strong> Venue: The Houston Summit (TX)</strong></p></div><p></p><p> </p><p> <strong>NWA World Heavyweight Championship:</strong> Brad Armstrong vs. “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair © </p><p> Scott Hall & Mike Graham vs. The Spoiler & The Warlord</p><p> Dusty Rhodes vs. Tully Blanchard w/ JJ Dillon</p><p> <strong>20 Man Over the Top Battle Royal</strong></p><p> <strong>--notable participants include:</strong> Baron Von Raschke, Big Bubba Rogers, Kevin Sullivan, Lex Luger, Manny Fernandez, Nikita Koloff, Ricky Morton, Road Warrior Hawk, Road Warriors Animal, Robert Gibson, Ron Simmons, and Vladimir Petrov</p><p> Wahoo McDaniel & Kendall Windham vs. The Invaders</p><p> <strong>NWA Television Title:</strong> Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka vs. Arn Anderson © w/ JJ Dillon</p><p> Hector Guerrero vs. Bobby Eaton w/ Jim Cornette</p><p> Jimmy Valiant vs. Barry Windham</p><p> <strong>NWA United States Championship:</strong> Mike Rotundo vs. Dick Murdoch © </p><p> The Fantastics vs. The Grapplers </p><p> </p><p> <strong>Bonus Question 1)</strong> Which of these 3 shows will have the highest attendance?</p><p> <strong>Bonus Question 2)</strong> Who will Hector Guerrero's mystery partner be on Night 2? The Great American Bash Tour: Week 1

*Faces always listed first

The Great American Bash Tour Night 1

Sunday Week 3 June 1987

Venue: Idaho Center Amphitheater (ID)

NWA World Heavyweight Championship: Ricky Morton vs. “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair ©

-These guys tore it up in RL on the '86 tour!

NWA United States Heavyweight Championship: Kendall Windham vs. Dick Murdoch ©

-Kendall is too young...and he sucks

NWA United States Tag Team Championship: The Road Warriors w/ Paul Ellering vs. The Midnight Express © w/ Jim Cornette

-via DQ...maybe a Sullivan attack

Russian Chain Match: Nikita Koloff vs. Vladimir Petrov w/ Ivan Koloff

-After the last WCW, he's going to be the man for this tour

The MOD Squad vs. Manny Fernandez & Brian Adams w/ Paul Jones

-Manny is the only name here

Mike Graham, Mike Rotundo, & Jimmy Garvin w/ Precious vs. Barry Windham, Ron Simmons & Big Bubba Rogers

-tough one....

Hector Guerrero vs. Lex Luger w/ JJ Dillon

-Lex hasn't had much yet...I hope a story pops up for him soon

The Fantastics, Wahoo McDaniel & Shane Douglas vs. The Grapplers & The Sheepherders

-Wahoo's pop is the tipping point

Brad Armstrong vs. Tully Blanchard w/ JJ Dillon

-I'd love to see this as a feud for you

The Great American Bash Tour Night 2

Tuesday Week 4 June 1987

Venue: The Cow Palace (CA)

Ole Anderson, Jimmy Snuka, & The Super Powers vs. The Four Horsemen w/ JJ Dillon

-give Nikita some ammunition for the best of 7

George Wells vs. The Warlord

-which way did he go? which way did he go?

NWA United States Tag Team Championship: Hector Guerrero & ??? vs. The Midnight Express © w/ Jim Cornette

-I could see a title change on one of these first few shows to keep it interesting and this seems like a logical place to do it

Biff Wellington vs. Big Bubba Rogers w/ Jim Cornette

-serving hard times

“The Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant vs. The Barbarian w/ Kevin Sullivan

-these 2 guys are moving in opposite directions

Brad Armstrong vs. Barry Windham

-another interesting matchup for Brad

NWA World Tag Team Championship: The Rock n’ Roll Express © vs. The Sheepherders

-The 'Herders do something dastardly after the fact though, I think.

Shane Douglas vs. Vladimir Petrov w/ Ivan Koloff

-Vlad needs some heat back after being served by Nikita

Wahoo McDaniel vs. Tommy Angel

-I'm loving that Wahoo is even kicking around in this diary

Mike Rotundo & The Fantastics vs. Dick Murdoch & The Grapplers

-Rotundo needs some juice to get even with Murdoch

The Great American Bash Tour Night 3

Thursday Week 4 June 1987

Venue: The Houston Summit (TX)

NWA World Heavyweight Championship: Brad Armstrong vs. “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair ©

-Brad is getting a lot of profile matches, but I don't see him picking up any wins :(

Scott Hall & Mike Graham vs. The Spoiler & The Warlord

-double the 'stache, double the power

Dusty Rhodes vs. Tully Blanchard w/ JJ Dillon

-as already stated by another poster, Dusty's attacker costs him this one That said, I recently watched the Dusty/Tully ladder match on the WWE Network! Super cool! I didn't even know those guys had a ladder match on the '87 Tour!

20 Man Over the Top Battle Royal

--notable participants include: Baron Von Raschke, Big Bubba Rogers, Kevin Sullivan, Lex Luger, Manny Fernandez, Nikita Koloff, Ricky Morton, Road Warrior Hawk, Road Warriors Animal, Robert Gibson, Ron Simmons, and Vladimir Petrov

-Nikita needs all the momentum and pop for Flair

Wahoo McDaniel & Kendall Windham vs. The Invaders

-greatest athlete Flair has ever seen....

NWA Television Title: Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka vs. Arn Anderson © w/ JJ Dillon

-coin toss, but taking the TV title from Arn is a nice consolation prize for losing to Flair

Hector Guerrero vs. Bobby Eaton w/ Jim Cornette

-coin toss

Jimmy Valiant vs. Barry Windham

-again, 2 dudes going in opposite directions

NWA United States Championship: Mike Rotundo vs. Dick Murdoch ©

-Mike gets closer though...I think he will win before the end of the tour

The Fantastics vs. The Grapplers

-eventually they need to go over

Bonus Question 1) Which of these 3 shows will have the highest attendance?

-The Cow Palace on night 2

Bonus Question 2) Who will Hector Guerrero's mystery partner be on Night 2? (Hint: never appeared in this diary before)

-some Guerrero...I'll guess Eddie

-not yet...but I have an idea ;)

Bonus Question 4) How many titles changes will occur during week 1 of the tour?

-1

Bonus Question 5) Who will be the runner-up in the battle royal on Night 3?

-Luger

General Diary Feedback: I need to compliment that last episode of WCW. The Magnum TA/Nikita segment and the mystery man segment were OUTSTANDING! I am so intrigued on where that's going!

General Diary Feedback: it shames me that you can produce two shows and an entire weeks worth of Bash tour in the time it takes me to put ONE raw out lol. Cudo's Sir and an excellent job as usual. I was pleased to see the Sheepherders pick up the win....too many people only know the Bushwhackers and not the blood thirsty b#####d's they were before Vince turned them into jokes.

RNR Express - I was surprised to see you pull the trigger on the Sheepherders! I don't know how long you intend them to carry the belts, but their name is etched on it forever now!

Jimmy Valiant - Jimmy picks up a flash win to keep him looking good in his old age. Unless you find him something fast, I can see Manny going down hard soon without a good anchor.

Big Bubber - Snow gets plowed.

Ole Anderson - Ole has a date with Arn in the near future, so he keeps up solid momentum until then.

Scott Hall - Spoiler alert.

Los Guerreros - Not quite the Guerrero tandem I envisioned, but a strong one nonetheless.

Nikita Koloff - Nikita is in a big run right now, if he doesn't win this one outright he gets it by DQ when the other Horsemen attack.

Dude, you should not feel bad at all about how fast I've posted these shows. Yours are considerably more in-depth and well written than mine. It's not even comparable.

Yeah, the Sheepherders winning here was a hard choice but it may or may not be related to unfulfilled previous prediction prizes... ;)

World Championship Wrestling

Date: Week 4 June 1987

Announcers: Tony Schiavone & David Crockett

Venue: New Orleans Municipal Auditorium (LA)

Attendance: 7,401

The Rock n’ Roll Express vs. Baron Von Raschke & The Warlord

Unless you were a fan in attendance at the Cow Palace this past week, than you were probably surprised when Tony Schiavone and David Crockett revealed that the Rock n’ Roll Express had lost the tag team championships to the Sheepherders. That said, Morton and Gibson were still in fine form and took the battle to menacing combination of Von Raschke and The Warlord. Gibson scored a pinfall over the big Warlord in 7 and half minutes.

Winners: The Rock n’ Roll Express

Grade: (C+)

Interview

Following the contest, Missy Hyatt welcomed the former champions to the interview podium. As Gibson struggled to stay focused (I know...it’s lazy joke….haha! I kill me!), Morton said it was just a matter of time before they got their rematch with the Sheepherders and brought the gold back it’s rightful owners.

“The Boogie Woogie Man” Jimmy Valiant vs. “The Raging Bull” Manny Fernandez w/ Paul Jones

Next up, The Raging Bull went toe-to-toe with the Boogie Woogie Man (whose storied rivalry with Paul Jones had long been documented). Nothing much of note here as Tony and David spent most of the contest putting over this week’s stops on the Great American Bash tour. After 10 minutes of open action, Manny Fernandez took the win following the Flying Burrito.

Winner: Manny Fernandez

Grade: (C-)

Interview

Tony and his furry-face-fitting was at the interview podium to welcome the executive consultant of the Four Horsemen, Mr. JJ Dillon out next. Dillon noted that being NWA World’s Champion was a job that Ric Flair took very seriously and it certainly meant no nights off. After this week’s Great American Bash stop in Houston, Flair boarded a jet and headed straight to Tokyo to defend his title in Japan. Despite flying all around the globe, Flair would definitely make every one of his contracted Great American Bash tour dates and looked forward to a swift resolution to Nikita Koloff’s dream of being World’s Champion and winning this best of 7 series in 4 matches. Dillon continued by saying that just as Ric Flair is being tested tonight over in Japan, so will Nikita Koloff be tested as he as a date with Tully Blanchard later on in this program. Dillon concluded by telling everyone to take out their hankys and blow their nose for all the emotion that Magnum TA brought out last week--at the end day professional wrestling wasn't a fairytale and it doesn't always have the endings that Magnum TA wants to dream up.

Grade: (B)

Al Snow vs. Big Bubba Rogers w/ Jim Cornette

Not much here other than an exhibition match for the big man who squashed young Al Snow in just under 7 minutes.

Winner: Big Bubba Rogers

Grade: (C+)

Interview

Missy welcomed Cornette and Bubba to the stage following the bout. Cornette was masterful venting his frustration about Hector Guerrero trotting his brother Chavo out as his mystery partner during this week’s Great American Bash tour. Cornette noted that pulling a mystery partner who the Midnight Express couldn’t prepare for is a rabbit that can be pulled out of a hat only one time, and the best the Guerreros could do was take the champions to the time limit. Well, next time, Hector and Chavo won’t have the element of surprise and the Midnight Express welcomed the opportunity to call the border control and send those Mexican jumping beans packing!

Grade: (B-)

Ole Anderson vs. Black Bart

Ole and Bart showed some great chemistry here and had a pretty decent hoss fight with some stiff shots. In the end, the experience of Ole was just too much for Bart to overcome and Ole took the win after 8 minutes.

Winner: Ole Anderson

Grade: (C+)

Interview

Tony and his muff mop welcomed out number one contender, Nikita Koloff next. Tony noted Koloff has been on a hot streak since joining up with Dusty Rhodes and was finally getting his chance at Ric Flair following the double disqualification that ended the Starrcade 1986 main event on such a sour note. Nikita promised redemption for his Starrcade failure in this best of 7 series and that Magnum TA’s words last week inspired him to take this opportunity and win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. After facing Magum TA in last year’s best of 7 series, Nikita said he has learned even more about what it takes to be a champion and was even better prepared for this year's series. He ended by telling Ric Flair to make sure he brings his best each and every night because he’ll be looking across the ring at the most intense and awesome challenger he has ever faced.

Grade: (B)

Scott Hall vs. The Spoiler

Hall continued his winning streak with easily his toughest opponent yet in the intimidating veteran, the Spoiler. Hall was able to get the big masked man up and crashing down with his patented crucifix-powerbomb, the move that has taken the NWA by storm.

Winner: Scott Hall

Grade: ©

Interview

Schiavone graced the program for a third time this evening, this time with the one and only “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. Tony reviewed last week’s mysterious tape as well as Dusty’s continued run-ins with his mysterious assailant. The Son of a Plumber responded by laying down some classic promo promo gold calling out his attacker to face him face to face and noted that The American Dream didn’t back down from anybody. No matter how many beatdowns or sneak attacks that he must endure, Dusty Rhodes would be at every stop on the Great American Bash and his will would not be deterred! You can bet on it, daddy!

Grade: (A*)

Los Guerreros vs. The Invaders

Hector and Chavo Guerrero made their WCW debut as a tandem next, following their JCP debut on the Great American Bash tour earlier in the week. They were in fine form, defeating the masked Invaders from Puerto Rico in just under 7 minutes.

Winners: Los Guerreros

Grade: (C-)

Interview

For the next segment, Missy Hyatt worked the interview stage and introduced “Gorgeous” Jimmy Garvin and his wife and valet Precious. Missy asked Jimmy to give an update on his brother Ron. The Gorgeous one noted that Ron is a fighter and has more heart than anyone he knew. Ron had already taken a few steps and had vowed to eventually step back into the ring one day. In the meantime however, that left Jimmy with a lot of cleaning up to do and he was starting with Barry Windham. Ron was at home working his tail off just to walk and meanwhile Barry Windham is strutting around the NWA like he’s God’s gift to professional wrestling and that simply wasn’t going to fly with Jimmy. He was coming after Windham, and he was coming after him hard.

Grade: (B-)

Nikita Koloff vs. Tully Blanchard w/ JJ Dillon

With that, it was main event time as The Russian Nightmare took on the incomparable Tully Blanchard. Nikita came at Blanchard hot and heavy to get things started and Tully did a great job selling the big man’s offense. From there, some chickenshit-heel antics and a little help from JJ Dillon put Tully into the driver’s seat for the better part of the contest. As you would expect, Nikita never died and battled back against Blanchard with a series of signature power spots before eventually cleaning Blanchard’s clock with the Russian Sickle.

As Nikita was going in for assured pinfall, Lex Luger and Arn Anderson hit the ring, ready to soften up Flair’s challenger as Tommy Young signaled for the bell and the DQ.

Winner: Nikita Koloff via DQ

Grade: (B+)

Post Match:

The Horsemen (sans Flair) continued the attack on Russia’s super athlete until the cavalry, in the from of Dusty Rhodes, Jimmy Snuka and Ole Anderson hit the ring to send the Horsemen packing for the night.

<p><strong>General Diary Update</strong></p><p> </p><p>

So, if you use the show index at all or have looked back on previous pages of this diary, you may noticed that Photobucket is forcing me to upgrade my account before my pics will display. I have no intention of doing this...so I'm thinking that I'll be migrating to Imgr or perhaps will see how well Google Photo works for diaries. Needless to say that this will be a bit of a process (and one I'm not that excited about--especially thinking about and reediting past shows...).</p><p> </p><p>

That said, I will also be on vacation all next week so I don't expect to be on GreyDog at all after Saturday. </p><p> </p><p>

This is basically a long form way of saying this diary will be going on brief hiatus as I figure out my next step. This has easily been the most successful diary I've ever had and I feel still as long legs so I anticipate coming back to it in about 2 weeks or so. Hopefully my annoyance with Photobucket will be trumped by my desire to continue The Bash tour (which I am still very much excited about).</p>

Ugh...well that sucks. I wouldn't worry about re-editing the pics from past shows. This diary is highly enjoyable with or without pics so I hope you keep going when you get back from a fun vacay. It will be interesting, as most people have used photobucket on here, to see where people go. I'd thought about doing a diary myself, but that kind of puts the kibosh on that as my diaries need pics to be anything but poor.
