FINisher Posted July 11, 2017 Share Posted July 11, 2017 <p>Man my timing was off at the start. After a hefty 15min or so of bashing my head into the wall I started to get hang of it. CAW mode is 10/10, there's INSANE amount of options albeit its a bit confusing at first and hard to navigate, atleast with a controller. Still not made up my mind on using a controller or keyboard.</p><p> </p><p> All in all, FPW is back and it's freaking AWESOME. I tried Windowed Mode but it's too small and I can't resize it.</p><p> - Vsync off it's unnaturally fast. Still I don't think this game is designed for 120hz (which I have) or 144hz monitors because I think the fps is tied to the refresh rate. I've currently capped my fps at 75. It's no longer too fast but it's not smooth either.</p><p> </p><p> The timing in Mission Mode is brutal and almost made me rage quit several times. Matches with the CPU on easy is better. I have a terrible memory so I struggle in games with intricate combos. It's going to be a while before I can truly enjoy playing.</p><p> </p><p> So I spent almost 3 hours trying to pass Mission 5 before switching to keyboard and passed it in half an hour. I'm still not great at winning grapples but with my Xbox One controller I win 1 in 10 grapples if I'm lucky. Now that I have nearly 200 wrestlers downloaded I'm having more fun watching than playing.</p><p> </p><p> I created my TCW/NXT promotion made up of WWE, New Japan and Lucha Underground talent, with a few ROH and GFW guys. Having fun already and considering they are going to add features and tighten up whats already there, it's well worth $20.</p><p> </p><p> But... it really highlights how far wrestling games have come and how silly it is when people say this series is a more accurate simulation of the "real sport" of pro wrestling than the current WWE games.</p><p> </p><p> I always say to the people that still harp on about how awesome No Mercy was, I say "play it and come back to me". I like old wrestling games, don't get me wrong. I just had a No Mercy night at my friends house with some beers we had a ton of laughs. But the newer games are just a thousand times better in every way. </p><p> </p><p> Still, what a wonderful trip down memory lane FPW is.
