What's the best way to get a simple game going?

Recommended Posts

I used to play EWR ages ago and I loved it but TEW has always been a little bit overwhelming for me.

Does anyone have tips for me to get a simple/easy game going?

Real world vs default vs Thunderverse?

(PS. I think I'd prefer to use a sports entertainment company so I can use gimmicks/angles etc.)

If you're just wanting to get your toes wet while learning to play the game, I'd suggest using the CVerse, playing as either a small or regional level company. Edit yourself some additional starting cash, and off you go! Oh, and you might turn off regional battles (I think that's something you can do?) until you're comfortable with your ability to book/play the game.

The one key thing to remember, and I tell this to all newer players, is don't get hung up on the letter grades. Those all generally scale to the size of the company you are running. As long as your show grades are equal to or higher than your current popularity, you're doing just fine! Don't expect to pull anything higher than a C with a local level promotion. Certainly its possible and if you do that's awesome, but even pulling a D or an E+ is still perfectly acceptable a that level!

I prefer starting as a local company. It's just easier to build up when I create everything. But when I first get a new version of TEW I always start a save with SWF or USPW because they are big enough and versatile enough that I can do whatever I want. This way I have an opportunity to test out all the features available and what not

Preference being MAW for a new game as its product is easier to manage than is CZCW's.

You would think it's harder to run a small company, but you learn the game world a lot better that way.

Turn off regional battles and Fog of War and just play.

Use the EWR Throwback settings. This is the first TEW I've gotten into, because I loved the simpleness of EWR. Slowly I've turned on other settings that I thought sounded cool. I'm still not running full boar TEW, but I love this so much more than EWR.
