<strong>The year is 1994 and WCW has...</strong></p><p> </p><p>

<em>A endless supply of money</em></p><p><em>

As much TV time that are needed</em></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

He is paid like the owner</p><p>

He has creative control</p><p>

He is a survivor</p><p>

He know how to book himself strong, so why not give him the task of making the entire promotion look strong</p><p> </p><p>

Some would describe him as a....</p><p>

Self-serving</p><p>

Ego-ridden</p><p>

Greedy megalomaniac</p><p>

His name is Hulk Hogan and he will bring in his lapdogs Ed Leslie, Jim Duggan and Jimmy Hart for the ride</p><p> </p><p>

Hogan will receive a cut of the pay-per-view revenues</p><p>

Ted Turner has agreed on letting Hogan become a shareholder</p><p>

Will Hogan focus to make serious cash for himself and Turner in the process?</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>

I've edited Raw to a 2 hour schedule and added more preset tag teams so that there hopefully are more competition from the other companies. In 1995 i might replace Worldwide with Prime to get a playground for midcarders and up-and-coming talents.</p>

Latest News from around the World

Latest News from around the World

WWF reign supreme. Reports indicate that World Wrestling Federation officials are looking at ways to consolidate their position as the undisputed top wrestling promotion in the world. Recocnising that their position gives them an enviable amount of leverage, they are said to be keen to act forcefully and quickly to make sure that their rivals have little chance of tripping them up.

The Warrior in Magazine. American wrestler The Warrior is on the cover of a major international fitness magazine this month. The muscular powerhouse is interviewed inside, talking about his fitness regime and some of his feats of strenght.

Inside sources claim that WWF has parted ways with veteran wrestler Randy Savage. Although Savage’s inexplicable banishment from the company is not explained, Vince McMahon has said, “I do not wish to do business with that man.”

WWF are looking to bolster their roster with Sherri Martel. She returns to WWF after a short stint in WCW.

Former WCW workers Mark Canterbury and Dennis Knight have signed contracts with the WWF. Shanghai Pierce and Tex Slazenger debuted on the WWF Monday Night Raw tapings as The Godwinns; two cousins who are hog farmers from Arkansas.

WWF spent the entire King of the Ring show pushing the "New Generation" catchphrase to counter WCW's signing of Hogan. Of course, it's ludicrous since the show was main evented by 2 guys older than Hogan and the company has already brought back or is planning to bring back such "new generation" stars as King Kong Bundy, Jim Neidhart, Sgt. Slaughter, Greg Valentine, Koko Ware, Lanny Poffo and Nikolai Volkoff. They then interviewed Maryland's governor William Schaffer who was at the show. Schaffer mentioned that his favorite wrestler is Hulk Hogan, and Todd Pettingill nearly wet his pants and set a new record in mic-pulling-away-speed.

The WWF upcoming house show tours feature "such New Generation performers" as Virgil, Sgt. Slaughter, Greg Valentine, Koko B. Ware, Lanny Poffi, King Kong Bundy, and more.

WCW desperately needs Bash at the Beach to be the biggest show in years and they're pulling out all the stops. They filmed interviews with George Foreman and Shaquille O'Neal and both are scheduled to appear at the show. Mr. T and Wesley Snipes are also rumored to be coming in for the show. They're also negotiating with Mike Tyson to appear via phone call during the broadcast, but that might backfire and cause bad publicity since, well, he's in prison. Antonio Inoki is also expected to appear on the show. If WCW can pull all this off, it will be a list of celebrities bigger than any that have ever appeared at Wrestlemania.

Gossip around the WWF locker room is that the promotion has lost faith with Bret Hart and no longer consider him to be their figurehead. The change comes with business struggling, the blame for that apparently pinned firmly on Bret Hart.

Inside sources claim that Dusty Rhodes is causing rifts by manipulating the WCW locker room against Ric Flair.

The vacant USWA Heavyweight Championship was claimed last night, as Doug Gilbert became the new champion after defeating Steve Doll. This victory marks his fourth reign with the belt.

If rumours are to be believed, the next big WWF storylines will center around Typhoon vs. Rick Martel; Shawn Michaels vs. Lex Luger; Bret Hart vs. Yokozuna; Tatanka vs. Jerry Lawler; and Diesel & The Underfaker vs. Razor Ramon & The Undertaker.

A lot of fans are critical of WCW for bringing in Hogan and building the whole company around him and sacrificing the future of the company for him. In our opinion there was no future for WCW and it was necessary because WCW is on life-support. The only reason they hadn't already folded is 100% because Ted Turner chose to let it live. But WCW had been losing money for years and the Hogan gamble was necessary if they ever want to be profitable or successful. It might not work in the long-term, but it's a chance they have to take. Thunder In Paradise was also renewed this week, which means Hogan won't be around full-time. WCW is pretty much entirely dependent on having Hulk Hogan right now are expected to continue build the promotion around him for the next several years.

Paul Levesque did a radio interview where he buried WCW and said he was disgusted with all the money they spent signing Hulk Hogan. He also buried Eric Bischoff and said that he will prove him wrong and become one of the greatest superstars of all time.

Is WCW looking for a new giant? According to a inside source, Hulk Hogan has let Eric Bischoff know that he would very much like to work with a "giant" after his current storyline with Ric Flair ends. Is Hogan trying to avoid facing off with Vader? Who is this "giant"? El Gigante? Giant Haystacks?

WCW has decided to remove Jesse Ventura from TV with 8 months remaining on his contract. Ventura has had a tumultuous tenure in WCW. He was demoted to commentate on the B-level shows when Bobby Heenan was brought in and made no secret about being unhappy about it. Ever since, he's been openly half-assing his commentary duties and sometimes no-showed appointments to go to Atlanta and record voice-overs, which upset many in the company because Ventura is one of the highest paid employees in WCW. Ventura will sit out the remainder of his contract and will be paid for it, but WCW is no longer going to use him. There are rumors that this could lead to Ventura returning to WWF to do commentary on Monday Night Raw, but he can't even legally talk to them until March 1st when his contract expires. If Ventura did return to WWF, it would be interesting given all the recent legal issues between Ventura and McMahon, but people in this business often find ways to bury the bad blood if they can make money together.

Chris Jericho's broken arm has apparently spelled the end of he and Lance Storm's tag team in SMW. Cornette was paying them each a $900 a week guarantee, which is more than anyone else in the company is making, because he expected the team to turn the promotion around. But the Thrillseekers didn't get over as well as Cornette hoped and with the promotion struggling, they can't justify the price tag, especially with Jericho on the shelf, so they're gone.

The latest issue of WWF magazine did an article that was a major burial of Hulk Hogan, talking about him being old and noted that he jumped ship to another promotion where most of the talent is past their prime.

Bret Hart was back on the same radio show in Toronto where he made waves with his comments about Ric Flair last year and decided to do it again. When one of the hosts asked Hart's opinion about Hogan signing with WCW, Hart said it was sad and said Hogan built his legacy with the WWF but couldn't bring himself to put over younger stars so now he's moved down to the minor leagues. He also called Hogan's movie career "a dud, a disaster." When talking about the current Hogan/Flair feud, Hart said, "There's a lot of talk of Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair, this great match. The greatest match-up of all-time kind of stuff. It might have been the greatest match-up in some people's minds 15 years ago, but it's a little bit like that old Sheik wrestling in Detroit. It's like Bobo Brazil wrestling The Sheik. That doesn't do anything. I think you're really going to see that Ric Flair is very limited in the ring. In my opinion, his best days were over long before he ever lost to me. And Hulk Hogan, I don't know if anyone's seen him now. I'm embarrassed for him. The guy used to be a hero to me. I'm embarrassed to see what's he's become. It's like flogging a dead horse. The WCW thing, there will be some interest initially but it'll wane fast."

Rumours indicate that the friendship between Diamond Dallas Page and Van Hammer is over. While it is said they are still civil to each other, and are definetely not feuding, there is a definite lack of warmth between the two.

<p>Latest News from around the World</p><p> </p><p>

</p><div style="text-align:center;"><p><strong><span style="font-size:14px;">Latest News from around the World</span></strong></p></div><p></p><p></p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Davey Boy Smith is also likely returning to WWF soon</strong>, probably for the European tour in September.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>There’s been rumors of Rick Rude returning to WWF</strong>, to be managed by SSW and ECWA diva Tammy Sytch.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hogan is already talking about starting up a Thunder In Paradise spin-off series</strong>, starring himself, Sting, Ed Leslie, Jimmy Hart, Jim Duggan, Brian Knobbs, Jerry Sags and Mr. T.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Shane Douglas cut a promo in ECW, making some bitter remarks about WCW World Heavyweight champion Ric Flair</strong> and challenging him to a shoot fight. “Kiss my @ss, Dick Flair. Come on up, the invitation’s there.”</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Hulk Hogan was interviewed by a Florida newspaper and for the first time, he responded publicly to comments Randy Savage and Bret Hart have made about him</strong>. About Savage, Hogan had this to say: “I feel there’s two kinds of people in this world, winners and losers. Whatever his personal problems were with his wife, that’s his problem. He shouldn’t drag other people into it. If he screwed up and can’t keep his marriage together, he shouldn’t blame other people for it. He should be able to handle his own problems. I considered him a friend, yes, but he was just using me. Hulk Hogan made him seven figures. If it wasn’t for Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage would have never gotten to the level he did or made the money he did. Without Hulk Hogan, that doesn’t happen. I thought we were friends, but it turns out he was just using me.” As for Bret Hart, Hogan claimed he wasn’t aware of anything Hart had said about him, so when the reporter told him that Bret had basically called him an old washed up dinosaur that had to go down to a 2nd rate company, Hogan’s response was: “This dinosaur doubled his ratings on pay-per-view. He also made him seven figures. I guess it’s better to be a dinosaur than a sore loser.”</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Bushwhackers could be headed to WCW</strong>. Jimmy Hart and Jim Duggan are pushing to bring in the Bushwhackers. Nothing confirmed and Eric Bischoff isn’t thrilled about the idea, but surely it’s just a matter of time with Hogan being the head booker.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>A recent marketing survey showed that 84.8% of Americans recognized Hulk Hogan by face</strong>, making him the 12th most recognized athlete in America. Magic Johnson, Muhammad Ali, and Michael Jordan were the top 3. Others ahead of Hogan included Mike Tyson, Arnold Palmer, Joe Namath, and others.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>SMW saw two title changes last night</strong>, as the previously vacant SMW Heavyweight championship was won by Terry Funk defeating Paul Orndorff. This victory marks his first reign with the title. At the same event, Tracy Smothers lost the SMW “Beat the Champ” Television championship to Dick Slater.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Nikita Koloff ended weeks of rumours last night</strong>, as a press release on the WAR website revealed that he had signed a contract with them. It is expected that their new signing will be making an appearance of some kind at their next show.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Word is USWA tag team The Eliminators may be getting a shot with WWF soon</strong>. There are some rumours that the young duo might be very high on the wishlist of WWF.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The friendship between Kevin Nash and Shawn Michaels looks to be over</strong>. Friends of the two have been reported as saying that while they are far from enemies, the friendship has totally eroded, and they are going their separate ways.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Yesterday evening saw the completion of the signing of Sgt. Slaughter by FMW</strong>. The deal is said to be a pay-per-appearance arrangement, meaning that he can work for other promotions too.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jury selection for the WWF steroid trial begins this week and the trial itself is scheduled to start the next day</strong>. It all stems from evidence that the government gathered in 1991 when Dr. Zahorian was tried to steroid distribution. WWF is charged with being part of a conspiracy along with Dr. Zahorian, to get WWF wrestlers to use steroids, and for distributing them.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The trial is expected to last a few weeks and publicly, WWF seems confident</strong>. After his herniated disc surgery, Vince McMahon has removed himself from commentary and re-hired Jim Ross to fill in. Ross was only given a 2-month contract as they expect Vince to be back behind the desk soon. The trial of Dr. Zahorian only lasted 4 days but it changed the face of the industry and the repercussions are still being felt. WWF has changed drastically, and features mostly small guys having far more athletic matches, but they’re having those matches in front of about 40% less fans than they used to draw.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The King of the Ring PPV drew a 0.73 buyrate, which is by far the lowest in company history</strong>. The heavily hyped return of Roddy Piper was totally overshadowed right before the show by Hulk Hogan signing with WCW.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WCW’s Clash of the Champions, featuring the live arena debut of Hulk Hogan, also drew a low rating</strong>, being the 4th lowest rated Clash ever. The show had more advertising hype than any Clash ever, so this is a huge disappointment. Between this and the low-rated Saturday Night episode featuring the Hogan parade and press conference, it’s bad news for WCW. They expected to be riding a huge wave of momentum right now due to Hogan, but it’s clear that they’ve gained no momentum at all.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>It’s the PG era! Due to rumors of government regulation of violence on television</strong> and in an effort to sanitize their own image, the WWF will no longer show crotch shots, 2-handed choking, eye gouging, or use of foreign objects (chairs, tables, etc.). In promos, you can no longer threaten physical violence, like promising to break someone’s arm or leg or something like that. Also, for whatever reason, Razor Ramon can no longer flick his toothpick at people. On TV a couple weeks back, Jerry Lawler attacked Duke The Dumpster Drose and beat him up with a garbage can. Lawler came up with the angle himself but didn’t clear it with the right people because everyone backstage freaked out due to the new anti-violence policy. The angle took place live on Raw (and they pulled the camera back immediately and showed the crowd while it was happening), otherwise it would have been edited out. After a commercial, Gorilla Monsoon apologized to viewers. The following week on Raw, Lawler was legitimately forced to give an on-screen apology.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jim Powers came in and worked a match on Raw this week</strong> and got a lot of people talking because he’s very obviously on steroids. A WWF spokesman responded saying that Powers was only brought in as an extra to work that match and isn’t signed and WWF does not drug test unsigned jobbers.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WWF and WCW both have European tours happening at the same time</strong> in September, and both sides have reportedly reached out to Davey Boy Smith to work the shows. Likely he’ll end up working the WWF tour since there is still bad blood with WCW over how he left last year.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Kevin Nash reportedly contacted Sid Vicious and told him to call WWF because they were interested in him</strong>, but Sid never called because he’s supposedly not interested in working there at the moment and would rather work in All Japan, New Japan or WCW.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>WCW will be spending more than double the amount of money on advertising</strong> for Bash at the Beach than for any other PPV in its history.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>At a recent WCW TV taping, Terry Funk pissed off a fan so much</strong> that the fan tried to jump the barricade with a gun, but security stopped him.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Pancrase Hybrid Wrestling saw a title change last night</strong>, as the previously vacant King Of Pancrase was won by Bas Rutten defeating Masakatsu Funaki at Pancrase 9. This victory marks his first reign with the title. The feedback has been that the show was awesome. Performance of the night belonged to Ken Shamrock that defeated Minoru Suzuki.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The vacant NWA World Welterweight Championship was claimed last night</strong>, as Dos Caras became the new champion. This victory marks his first reign with the belt.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jake Roberts no-showed three SMW shows he was booked for and was expected to main event</strong>. Jake kept calling before the shows and promising he’d be late but he’d be there and then didn’t show up each time. The last of the shows was 20 minutes from Jake’s house and he still didn’t show. After the 3rd show, Roberts hasn’t been mentioned again at any tapings since then, so he’s been written out of the promotion for now.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Antonio Inoki is coming to the United States later this month</strong> to attend Bash at the Beach and to meet with Ted Turner and George Foreman. It’s been Inoki’s dream, dating back to the 70s, to have a match with Foreman and with his planned retirement later this year, this might be the last chance to put it together.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Jim Crockett is planning to start a new promotion</strong> that will be called Jim Crockett Promotions Presents the NWA and plans to run in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Alabama. The first taping is scheduled later this month. No word on who’s involved, but Dave says Paul Heyman and the ECW crew won’t be involved like they were last time because Crockett has a different vision of what wrestling should be than what Heyman wants to do. It’s thought Cornette and some SMW stars may appear.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Mark Madden may be getting a job with WCW to take over the hotline on Sundays from Bobby Heenan</strong>. Dave mentions that the only hotline that is successful in WCW is Gene Okerlund’s Saturday hotline, but even that only does about half the business that it used to do when Jim Ross ran it a few years ago. Dave says you can only give teases and trick people into calling so many times before it stops working. People want info for their dollar and Ross used to deliver it, while Okerlund is constantly hyping up that he’s gonna dish some dirt on the hotline, but rarely delivers anything substantial.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>AAA is not only trying to get Vampiro to jump</strong>, but they’re also trying to get Black Magic (Norman Smiley), El Dandy and Negro Casas. Meanwhile, EMLL is trying to get Lizmark and Lizmark Jr. to jump ship to them.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>The Warlord, Sgt. Slaughter, and Tito Santana were all backstage at the latest WCW tapings</strong>, looking for work. The Warlord was telling people he’d been off steroids for the last 18 months, but everyone who saw him felt he was insulting their intelligence. The Warlord currently works for AAA, UWA, WAR, MEWF and UWF; while Tito Santana works for IWCCW and IWF.</p><p> </p><p>

<strong>Latest on the Chris Benoit to WWF rumors</strong>: the plan was to bring him in as tag team partners with Konnan, but when Konnan turned down the offer to return to the company, that put Benoit in limbo, so for now, still nada.</p>

Been reading up on this, I like what you've been doing so far. Nash and Shawn losing their friendship? How will the WWF ever get to the top without the Clique driving them?! <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

Been reading up on this, I like what you've been doing so far. Nash and Shawn losing their friendship? How will the WWF ever get to the top without the Clique driving them?! :D

Thanks, i'll try to use the available roster and make the best of the situation, before any big spending sprees; and trying to book some things in a different way (hopefully better way).

The Nash and Shawn relationship was a interesting surprise. It happened sometimes after the Shawn & Diesel vs The Bushwhackers tag team match. I will follow the developement with high interest. :D

Really enjoying this! I love the Blue/Red Locker Room gimmick! Fits the time period perfectly.

Also, crazy amounts of high quality information in that news segment man!

Lastly, I've read Asaemon projects before, so imagine my shock at this:

I thought The Gambler was your dude! What happened there?!

Thanks, i'll try to start the save very influenced by the actual real life results and booking, except moving/keeping the most interesting matches on Saturday Night, instead of giving them away on Main Event, Pro or Worldwide. There are a lot of actual news available from the era, so hopefully the rest of July is as interesting.

The Gambler is one favourite. He's teaming with Sgt. Pittman in Deep South Wrestling, and so far they have also been winning some pre matches in WCW. He received a minor elbow injury, but will be back in a couple of days. :D

Frank Andersson is another favourite. He is probably one of the reasons that the broadcasting company in Scandinavia switched from WWF to WCW in 1994. So he has received a strong push. Before i mostly watched WCW on DSF, but then Hogan was signed they switched to WCW and during that era they showed a lot of Frank Andersson matches. I read somewhere that Bischoff liked him so he has received a strong push just like Alex Wright.

Hopefully i have found a workable level of work/details this time, so that i can keep running the save/diary and focusing on the PPV:s and Clash of the Champions. I'm currently in mid August so i have some results ready post shortly.

I love the juxtaposition of how Flair has "a woman" on his side while underdog Hogan is bringing along Mr. T, Shaq, Jimmy Hart, George Foreman (and potentially his fat beating grill), and I'm waiting for Brother Bruti to show; just because Flair's got a lady in his corner. Hoganomics, everybody <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/rolleyes.png.4b097f4fbbe99ce5bcd5efbc1b773ed6.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />

It will be a mix between one of his many gimmicks and one of my favorite 90's cult movies. <img alt=":D" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/biggrin.png.929299b4c121f473b0026f3d6e74d189.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> I also think that Hogan will listen more to Bischoff's advice than Kevin Sullivan's in this save, so i will avoid the Dungeon of Doom and some of the more humour based characters. Hogan's friends will still get pushes, but might be separated from sharing the main event spotlight with Hogan. I've read and watched some of Bischoff's thoughts, so i might use them to try and enhance the product. So Ed Leslie and Jim Duggan have their places on the roster, but maybe they probably don't will main event Starrcade. <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/cool.png.f00d2562b2c1d873a09323753efdb041.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p><p> </p><p> Actually i've started to like Duggan and see his strenghts and potential, but Ed Leslie is still kind of crappy when it comes to his skills and he is a drug addict. So i got this message as the user character; "Hulk Hogan was very unhappy that Bruti was clearly wasted on drugs during their match on Saturday Night". <img alt="" data-src="//content.invisioncic.com/g322608/emoticons/rolleyes.png.4b097f4fbbe99ce5bcd5efbc1b773ed6.png" src="<___base_url___>/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" /></p>
